LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Station 8 by quadtree 2020-10-05T10:09:02Z

The first robot that charged me actually startled me :D

Very atmospheric FPS. Baiting robots one by one and shooting them is very satisfying and the stealth factor in this game is really good. The models are very nice and simple, the atmospheric soundtrack fits the scene.

As mentioned in the first review though, the Easy setting is already really hard. I ran out of ammo really fast and eventually just ran through the level to win.

Colorful Memories by Ayxs 2020-10-07T22:11:46Z

Heya!

I played your game live today, here is the VOD: https://youtu.be/XGmb_ZrYFFo?t=4401

Super pretty game, love the voxel art! Really good work!

F Minus 1 by automatonvx 2020-10-07T22:19:42Z

Loved the aesthetics in this. Induces a very 80s feeling in me.

The AI is way too good though, I had no chance of catching up once they started flying away ^^

Ouroboros by Wendel Scardua 2020-10-13T15:11:11Z

We met in a stream chat a few days ago and I promised to TAS this :D

Welp, here it is!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4z1c0j9U88U

Really impressive that this actually works on an actual NES. Absolutely love this.

Framed Space by LaJazuve 2020-10-07T22:44:07Z

Super impressive game for such a small timespan!

Took me a while to understand the mechanics but they have a lot of potential! You could definitely expand on this!

However, I eventually got stuck in a block and couldn't get out. The collision in general is a bit weird. Since you started so late that is understandable though.

Good job!

Minion Madness by qfeys 2020-10-05T11:11:06Z

I think this has really good potential! Running away from the rising water was somehow funny every time it happened :D

However, a bit more visual feedback of what's happening would be nice. I was never sure if my minions actually did what I wanted them to do.

This could be fixed by just adding some animations for the different activities. Otherwise, this is really impressive, especially for a compo game! Good job!

TimeBot by Mightymaster99 2020-10-05T00:24:07Z

Nice graphics, intuitive controls, the levels were fun but you had to think a bit here and there.

It feels so satisfying to beat the final level as well :D

Good job!

Into the Iron Mist by Griddolini 2020-10-07T22:14:27Z

Hi!

I played your game live today, you can watch the VOD here: https://youtu.be/XGmb_ZrYFFo?t=6623

this is probably my favorite game of the jam so far. It looks so nice and plays so smooth, its insane! :D

SPACE TAXI by Radzios 2020-10-05T10:17:51Z

Good take on the theme! Racing yourself is always a nice concept and it works very well here. Also I love that the earth is a physics object you can collide with :D

One problem I see is that you can inflate your score a lot by going slow on purpose the first few rounds. Also it feels a bit unfair when you beat your past self by a tiny amount but still lose because of the 3 second countdown. You could introduce a general time limit to the game to counter the intentional slow strategy.

Infinite Pinball by Nick Barrash 2020-10-05T00:31:23Z

My first run was a 3:48 :D

Sometimes the ball went into hyperspace but I didn't see that as a negative thing. It was nice to build up points quickly. The multipliers stacking is also nice.

The theme integration is really nice, even though now you can't technically lose. The sound design was pretty as well, so getting huge chains was extra cool.

As mentioned before, the flippers are a bit weak to feel impactful. That is my only complaint though :D

Dinosaur Game Level 1 by JDcierski 2020-10-05T00:10:53Z

The This Is The Only Level vibes are strong with this one :D

Since I have played This Is The Only Level, a lot of the gimmicks were familiar to me. I can see this game as really confusing to people who havent played that though.

I'd suggest adding hints about what is happening in each stage to give players a clue about what's going on.

Please keep working on this. This game has so much potential :D

The Fire Case by GetSky 2020-10-07T22:28:47Z

Very nice graphics, the ambient sounds fit very well into the game.

The controls are a bit weird though. You lose all control over your character when you jump, making it very hard to jump precisely.

Other than that, very nice game!

Back And Forth by Kisk 2020-10-07T22:08:18Z

Hi ^^

I played your game in my livestream today, you can watch my reaction here: https://youtu.be/XGmb_ZrYFFo?t=719

Very solid game, love the artstyle and the puzzles even if I couldn't solve some of them ^^

Stuck in a Loop by Lena Taylor 2020-10-07T22:24:17Z

Love the weapons! My favorite has to be the record, it's just so versatile :D

The music is very nice and the aesthetics fit the game. Controls were also great.

I felt the game was a bit too easy though. I was able to plow through enemies like they weren't even there ^^

Escape the Sun by MikoMikoSpark 2020-10-07T22:09:27Z

Heya :D

I played this in my livestream today. You can rewatch my reaction here: https://youtu.be/XGmb_ZrYFFo?t=2014

Damn that sun is scary :D

Catnap by CondeSluck 2020-10-07T22:36:29Z

Super nice art! Took me a while to understand what I was doing though ^^

Controls are very nice and responsive, falling asleep takes a bit too long though in my opinion. Half of the time I just stood around waiting to fall asleep.

Other than that, awesome work!

Determined To Die by DawnDev 2020-10-04T23:50:27Z

Very nice game! Love the random ragdolls flying over the place sometimes and the fast forward button really enhanced the experience. It's a bit short but still super entertaining to play!

Time Saver by Daniikk1012 2020-10-07T22:15:46Z

Hi!

I played your game during my livestream today. You can find my reaction here: https://youtu.be/XGmb_ZrYFFo?t=8584

Very nice platformer. Takes a while to get into but super satisfying once you master the controls :D

Repeat Robot by Phi9009 2020-10-04T23:57:39Z

It's so satisfying seeing your robot army execute the plan you carefully set up over several iterations. I had no technical hiccups and the levels had a good size and difficulty.

I really wish there were more levels but hey, this is Compo :D You could totally expand this in the future though!

Deep Stranded by UnholyKn1ght 2020-10-05T10:00:49Z

That Among Us reference :D

Nice little game. I like the sprites and the beacon effect was simple but worked perfectly. The soundtrack fits really nicely as well.

The O2 pickups are very nicely balanced where you can miss one but it's not super easy to get back to high oxygen levels.

If there is an ending I wasn't able to get it. I played to ~2200 Points and nothing happened, so I assume it's an endless game. Very relaxing and calm though, good job!

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-05T00:06:24Z

Amazing graphics! Especially for a compo game!

Since I'm playing on a QWERTZ keyboard the controls took some time to get used to but weren't impossible to manage. The rocket launcher feels solid and the rockets are very satisfying to use.

Had a lot of fun with your game, good job! :D

Prelude to a Squish by nil4k 2020-10-04T23:42:38Z

Not really much to do here but the music is nice to listen to. I eventually pressed left a little too long, shot my ball out of the screen and wasn't able to find it again.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deep Dive by Frederika 2021-04-29T00:53:14Z

I initially thought that there was more than one level and that you would have to get more samples in later levels so I had to replay to see the deep sea content. The controls were nice and the artstyle and music create a nice atmosphere.

At a certain level everything became literally invisible though so I couldn't dodge the enemies at all, resulting in me dying. Perhaps change that so that there's always at least a bit of visibility left.

ROM DIGGER by PurpleAlien 2021-04-26T11:10:10Z

This is extremely solid! Very polished graphics and sound, good controls, clear gameplay with a clear goal. Nice gradual difficulty increase as well. And it's procedurally generated? Five stars all around.

Manic Miner by ryannielson 2021-04-26T12:11:08Z

Very nice minimalistic art style, nice sound effects. Gameplay is weirdly addictive and gets hectic in the best way possible fast. Can't really complain about anything here. Mayyybe music would have made this even better but that won't affect my rating.

Highscore is 260 btw :D

Teh Man and the Sea by Plepletier 2021-04-26T12:50:28Z

Very nice game! Took me a while to figure out the controls since I don't think you mentioned them anywhere (BTW for anyone struggling with controls, arrow keys/WASD to move and E to interact) but once I managed to play it was a very nice experience. I really enjoyed diving into the water and exploring the sea even though some starfish seemed unneccessarily aggressive :D

The shop system is nice, the upgrades are well balanced and useful. The pixel art was super nice and the audio really enhanced the experience.

THE PIT by Almax 2021-04-28T23:56:18Z

Damn this was fun! The movement was so fluid, the wallrunning was well implemented, the teleportation was an amazing feature, fighting the evil cult overlords was satisfying and the story was amazing. The only thing I didn't like that much is that the game gets really really hectic sometimes. But this was still a ton of fun to play!

Total Eclipse Of The Heart - vol.02 by FcValise 2021-04-27T20:46:42Z

I think I got a contact high from this game.

Super amazing artstyle, very pleasant to interact with the environment, the shrinking feature is amazing and the soundtrack is super nice.

Oh yeah I found a weird bug (I think) - I was fiddling around in the doorway when suddenly...

escape.jpg

I suppose this is my life now.

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-05-10T18:23:31Z

This is without a doubt the best game I've played so far. I don't even know what to really write here. The art and sound were super awesome, the mechanics were nice and fun, the story works and made me laugh several times, the difficulty curve is nice. Just an overall great game. If this was longer (pun intended) and more fleshed out I'd pay money for this.

Mrs. ScubaMan by Shaolin Dave 2021-04-27T19:23:57Z

A very simplistic gameplay loop, nice to play nontheless. As mentioned by other people here, some instructions would be nice. Otherwise I have nothing to complain about, I really liked the artstyle and controls were nice and responsive.

Also you get an extra point for the cables jiggle physics lol

Depths of Hope by gustavo.christino 2021-04-27T15:13:01Z

I can only agree with the comment above. The atmosphere the music and sound effects in combination with the graphics create is really nice and definitely feels desolate and post apocalyptic. Also nice to auto scroll the screen down, works as a gameplay mechanic and fits the theme. Controlling the submarine has a nice floaty feel to it although chasing fish to scan them can be frustrating.

Other than that, there is just not enough to do. After scanning two fishes you have basically experienced all there is to do.

Although to be fair, I saw a shark doing backflips. That was pretty sweet.

Dumb Ways To Dive by Jonas Michael 2021-04-28T19:05:39Z

Very moody, very interesting! Loved the variety of stuff you could encounter underwater, controls were nice but could react a bit faster. Otherwise, the music was nice, the atmospheric sounds worked very well and the artstyle is clean and nice. Also that main menu is one of the best menus I've seen so far

However, after passing 1000 points, my camera got stuck like this, leading to a pretty fast game over:

cameraglitch.png

That's the only glitch I noticed though. GG!

Hellscape by ToxicComputer 2021-05-10T18:35:23Z

Nice game! I think switching between action packed top down and calmer, more platforming based sidescroller sections was a nice touch. The action was also mostly well balanced, except for the one complaint below where everyone suddenly had machine guns. The art was nice and simple and the music helped to keep the action going. The controls were also nice and fluid even though (as mentioned) the gun turning takes a bit to get used to.

So, here is my list of improvement suggestions. - As mentioned above, sometimes enemies become very very trigger happy. I am pretty sure they fire every frame once that happens. Of course, standing in that bullet stream for a second is basically a guaranteed death. - Some of the sidescroller rooms generate in a way where you can softlock by falling into a pit you can't get out of. I know I can press R to regenerate the room so this wasn't anything game breaking, just something you could fix if you wanted to. - Most of the time, you simply outrun the camera. You have to half blindly run into new rooms, hoping you won't be greeted by 20 enemies mowing you down. You could add an offset to the camera to always show a bit more in the direction the player is moving.

Deep Dreams by Diebanez 2021-04-27T19:17:46Z

Very atmospheric! I loved the narrative, the gameplay was nice bullet hell stuff. At first I didn't understand that I have to charge up my sleep meter to proceed but after some trial and error I managed to make some good progress. The later levels are really hard and took me a few attempts, but I eventually managed to beat all of them.

Music is very nice and the artstyle works well with it. Good job!

LD48 Deep Lab Droid by digital bacon 2021-05-18T18:43:07Z

Pro: - nice controls - good artwork - soundtrack s l a p s

Con: - very little content

Yeah, what can I say. I didn't encounter anything game breaking and if this had more content I would play this.

Deep Fucking Value by 420blazeit 2021-04-26T18:39:24Z

I didn't understand what to do at first, invested some money and ended up 1k in debt. Just like the real stock market. 10/10.

Ok, to be serious, this game is awesome. The controls are so satisfying, landing trickshots feels amazing. The graphics are simple but lovely and the music keeps the action going perfectly. Also I somehow got really happy about gaining and losing money equally. I basically grinned the entire time I played this. Thanks for making this :D

Octopus Diver by Voxel Forest 2021-04-29T00:12:27Z

I liked the artstyle, the movement was responsive and the characters were nice to look at. The sound effects were atmospheric and worked really well. If this had some relaxing music in the background, it could be a really nice relaxing, slow game.

Soaring Under by jitspoe 2021-04-27T15:44:36Z

This has to be in my top 3 this jam easily.

Amazing graphics, beautiful soundtrack (and death sound lol), nice controls that take a bit of time to get the hang of, nice scenery... just awesome. Good work!

Boring in the deep by WilhelmStein 2021-04-30T14:39:13Z

Really enjoyed this one. Graphics are nice, the particle effects especially. The music is fantastic - you can tell someone with serious skill wrote those pieces. Also, fantastic voice acting  sounds like you had a lot of fun with the recording.

Only thing I want to complain about is that sometimes even with slowdown not being hit is incredibly hard, especially at the beginning of a new section. Maybe you could simply solve this by introducing checkpoints at every new section.

The Deepest SEAcret by Kaurbot 2021-04-26T14:43:17Z

Very nice graphics and the audio was nice and relaxing. Gameplay controlled nicely and felt fair but was a bit repetitive.

Ixcar'th by Zliebowitz 2021-04-29T01:16:38Z

The soundtrack in this SLAPS. The character runcycle is really well done and the controls were tight.

Dipper and Dipper by JM Studio 2021-04-27T20:09:33Z

Interesting take on the theme and on minesweeper! I loved the textures you used and how shiny everything looks. The one thing I didn't like is that it was very hard to bomb around mines since you don't really know the blast radius of your bombs. Also once I found Dipper but couldn't get to him because the hole I could see him through was too small to walk through and there was a mine basically directly next to him, making it impossible to widen the hole without a game over.

Run Ant Run by Ryano 2021-04-30T15:23:18Z

Damn, this was the most intense game I've played so far! Once the game starts picking up speed, you are constantly panicking, trying to find your way through the maze while you also have to navigate it... and it's damn fun! It's honestly impressive how well the randomly generated maze works, it never felt unfairly hard but I always had to check I was going the right way. Control wise, everything was great, I was able to maintain my control even at 60+ ant speed. The sprites are nice and the music is fitting. Only complaint I have is that when you run diagonally against a wall, you massively slow down. At higher speeds this happens fairly regularly and can disrupt the gameplay flow a bit.

So yeah. My record is 221,9cm, I had a lot of fun with this game. Thanks for making it!

Asteroid Ascend by WormholeGames 2021-04-28T13:17:44Z

This was a nice experience! The controls were very nice, the jump may be a bit floaty. Collecting ores was fun, just shooting your way through the rock felt very rewarding and collecting the ores had a nice feeling of success attached to it. I had one block I couldn't break and that had no collision, other than that I didn't notice any bugs. The music is SUPER NICE, I loved the atmosphere it created. Graphics are simple and fit the gameplay nicely. Good job!

Deeply Organic by DoctorTM 2021-04-28T23:35:54Z

The animations were very nice. The artstyle is absolutely fitting the theme of the game. The sounds were definitely suitable as well. It's pretty cool that you managed to implement this many different gameplay mechanics in this amount of time.

Deep Hunting by LudumDareDevil 2021-04-26T20:38:29Z

There isn't a lot of game here but what is there is a nice start that can definitely be expanded on. The graphics are nice and movement is solid. Right now it's basically a shooting gallery without any real danger and with no objectives which gets kind of dull after a while. If you added hazards or objectives, this could become a nice little hunting game.

Into the Mind by Kanda 2021-04-26T20:31:22Z

Very atmospheric, very nice platforming. I loved the music, very good composition and the slow unraveling of insanity was nicely done with it. The graphics were nice as well. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of checkpoints. When you almost made it through a level and die, you have to redo the entire thing which is a bit frustrating sometimes.

Hecode by pedrocoden 2021-04-27T18:29:31Z

Nice controls, nice visual style, I liked the music and the sound effects.

As some people mentioned, running past enemies was way easier than fighting them so that's what I did for most of the game.

Frog by cacciatc 2021-04-29T00:42:12Z

Probably my favorite game of the jam so far.

This just blew my mind. The music, the art, the very solid controls, the really well thought out level design, the fact that this runs as an actual NES cartridge... the work that went into this is amazing.

I had one glitch where the bubble somehow spawned across a wall and on the other side of the room but that fixed itself with repositioning myself so it wasn't anything gamebreaking.

Really well done, thank you for making this!

The case of the door in the woods by jonah 2021-04-29T00:03:18Z

Very nice hand drawn graphics, the music was nice as well but overpowered the scene sometimes. The story was well fleshed out for a three day project and I didn't encounter any bugs. Very nice!

Afraid to Turn by rhoff95 2021-04-26T20:56:34Z

Excellent game! Really nice movement and game mechanics, amazing graphics, atmosphere and audio were AMAZING, awesome way to incorporate the timer into the game world - there is basically nothing I'd critizise! Just a very good entry! Good job!

Trapdoor in the Garden by InitialPosition 2021-04-26T11:18:09Z

@erk yeah, the bats are meant to be a permanent hazard you can push back but can't kill. I should have communicated that more clearly in game ^^

Trapdoor in the Garden by InitialPosition 2021-04-27T20:12:52Z

@shaolin-dave I assume you played the HTML5 version? Because that one sometimes fails to load the music for some reason. I have looked for a fix but haven't found one yet, sorry.

Also yeah, the menu buttons were assigned after approximately 12 hours of coding when my brain was screaming for me to go to bed so in hindsight I didn't assign the most intuitive buttons ^^

Trapdoor in the Garden by InitialPosition 2021-04-30T21:21:58Z

@havok06 Thanks for your feedback! And yes, you are absolutely right. I didn't have enough time to make the AI I wanted to have so it has to resort to cheating sometimes, which can feel unfair. Also yeah, I forgot to update some hitboxes properly. The hitboxes when slimes are jumping for example, resulting in their shadow being part of the hitbox.

I have been working on a post LD update basically since compo ended though. It will fix most of the things people complained about and adds some quality of life updates as well. I have some of the more critical stuff taken care off already but won't release anything until the voting phase ended since I feel it would be unfair to alter the basic AI of the enemies this drastically while voting is still going on.

Trapdoor in the Garden by InitialPosition 2021-04-30T21:28:01Z

@monkeybit29 @purpledartfrog @vitor-figueredo @sthealthinator @liam @adam077x @rhoff95 @cameron-paxton @wujood @eugenik @jupiter-hadley @steelax @plepletier @alexandre-pedroza @ayxh @she-wrote @magna @arpit1434 @gcake @mhorth @doctortm @finn-tr @blue-pin-studio @stephenwhoskins

Thank you SO MUCH for your feedback! Glad you liked the game! I don't think I've ever gotten this many encouraging reviews before and it's just blowing my mind.

I am still working on the game and will release a big quality of life patch when the voting phase ends. I can also see myself continuing working on the game after that to eventually release it to Steam. No promises of course, but this game feels like it has the most solid gameplay loop out of all my LD games so far and I can see this work as a full roguelike game.

Again, thank all of you for your support and kind words! You are awesome!

Trapdoor in the Garden by InitialPosition 2021-05-02T15:46:42Z

@zliebowitz yeah, health is the only item you can purchase multiple times. It felt unfair to make it into a shop on low health, having a ton of money and being unable to heal up.

So Deep in Space by KeyLime 2021-05-18T18:47:13Z

The core concept is very nice and the artwork is really good, I've always been a fan of this 1D style. This is basically a polished amped up version of asteroids with way better graphics.

However, I feel like your spaceship is way too fast. This is a game about precise movement and going that fast adds unneccesary difficulty.

Raid' Simulator by alpacalypse 2021-04-27T19:10:27Z

I like the general concept you've built. It definitely feels like a PvE lobby where you don't know anyone :D

There is some stuff I'd like to critizise though:

- There is no tutorial on how to play. You can figure out that you attack automatically eventually but just having a tutorial would enhance the first time playing experience. - Some form of indicator as to where the enemy will attack is definitely needed. Maybe just a shape on the ground indicating what will be the damage zone would suffice.

I'm 14 and by Krac3r 2021-04-26T21:39:52Z

Thank you.

Glitch Dip by Volkolak 2021-04-30T20:49:08Z

The controls are very nice and the entire game feels like an early PS1 title, which I mean in a positive way. The audio helped with the atmosphere a lot and the enemies that turned invisible excluding the eyes were kind of terrifying. @jonrei basically summarized exactly what I'm missing in this game - a way to tell where my bullets go and a way to know how much health I have left. Other than that, nice entry!

Body Venture by Storm_Rider 2021-04-26T11:03:10Z

I liked the idea of having levels in the dark and having to figure out the level using your flashlight. The graphics and music were nice as well, that intro sequence is awesome :D

I did have some physics problems though. The box seems to get stuck on the floor a lot while dragging it. Also you can spam jumps if a box you're holding is touching a floor or wall which let me skip a few levels.

Highly Successful Research Submarine by James Macgill 2021-04-30T15:42:17Z

Ever wanted to play Pokemon Snap in a submarine?

The graphics are very nice, the audio is very minimal but builds a nice atmosphere. Controls were fine but sometimes when I pressed R I accessed a station in another room on accident and sometimes picking up the correct tool when multiple were in the same spot was difficult. Nothing super broken though.

Other than that, this is a really relaxed game where you just snap photographs of fish and sell them while building a submarine. Very nice.

Hangman by Arpit1434 2021-04-26T15:08:18Z

It's hangman except the story is deep. Don't know what else to say here :D

Low Notes by mhorth 2021-04-27T19:36:40Z

Didn't think I'd hear Megalovania while testing games but here we are.

I mean, I don't have too much to say here. It's a nice rhythm game with clean graphics and nice beatmaps. Although sometimes (especially in Megalovania) it's sometimes difficult to see if the next notes are three rapid fire notes or one note on three keys. Other than that, no complaints here, I had fun!

To Descend by ToniO 2021-04-27T19:01:46Z

For a non programmer with no experience in Unity this is really well made! The fighting works, the art is nice (a bit much empty space for my taste though) and the story has the best opener I've ever seen.

Good job!

Very short but very moody game. Controls were fine, maybe the movement speed was a bit too high. Graphics are nice and the music created a very nice atmosphere. As others already mentioned, the keys were by far the hardest thing to find.

One More Cellar by Magna 2021-04-28T13:26:46Z

Very nice roguelike! Nice pixel art, I like the combat a lot and the music keeps the action going. Controls were responsive which is pretty important in games like this and the difficulty was manageable yet challenging. The shop reroll is also an awesome idea. Overall just a very solid entry! Thanks for making this!

P.S. it's eerie how similar the games we made are

Den Sweet Den... by Dannan2 2021-04-26T20:44:29Z

Not really a lot to vote on here. The controls are smooth and the textures (ignoring the minecraft block lol) are nice. You can just walk off the block and fall through each level for an easy win though, Also, if you miss the next level trigger you softlock the game.

AMVD&D by Ayxh 2021-04-26T20:48:11Z

Solid game! Aesthetics are very nice and the music is fitting (also love the death sound :D). Having different obstacle patterns and color pallettes was a nice touch. It's just too hard for me though :D Best I could manage was ~2200.

The deepest curse by Bobafett89 2021-05-11T15:14:44Z

This has certainly been an interesting experience. Controls nicely and the artwork and music are fitting together. Unlocking different abilities to get through previously inaccessible tunnels was nice. Respawning felt fair almost all the time, there were only one or two instances where I got reset way further back than I anticipated. The sheer size of the map is impressive, it's also one of my complaints though. Most of it feels empty and you don't do a lot. Also there is no real indication about where to go next. This might be on me though, I tend to get lost in basically every metroidvania I play

I didn't encounter too many glitches, just minor stuff like the jumping sound getting spammed when you hold space in a one block high tunnel. The one thing I actually disliked was the main menu, it's just a pure information overload. Maybe have main menu buttons for Play and Play Custom, leading to either a difficulty select or the parameter setup for custom games.

SudoXE by marksteve 2021-04-26T11:16:33Z

Very nice visuals, the music is as stressful as intended, you really feel like escaping the ultimate destruction.

The only thing I didn't really like is that the pod can spin, making controlling it consistenty difficult. Once I was heading for a wall I didn't have the time to figure out which thruster corresponds to which key to not die. This could either be solved by making the pod unable to spin or by labelling the thrusters with the corresponding keys so you can react faster.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Damaged by marvalgames 2022-04-06T18:42:19Z

Really nice atmosphere, nice feeling of making progress as well. I found a bug where if you run into a downed enemy at the correct angle you just get launched into space which allows you to skip doors. Even though that was probably not intentional, it made the experiece a lot more fun.

Dont Sleep by PhoenixofForce 2022-04-04T11:07:25Z

Short but sweet. Loved the setup, the pixel art is really nice and especially the animations are really really well done, the sleep bar is well timed to give you enough time to try everything out at a nice pace while still being challenging to win. Overall really solid entry, good job :D

Zom-Beware! by adam-gould 2022-04-06T20:24:39Z

So this is absolutely the best tile based game I've played in a long time. I was kinda confused about what to do in the first round but in the second round when I knew what the buildings and units were doing I had a blast preparing for the oncoming apocalypse. Also the ragdoll physics deserve a prize. I love them.

MacBooler by kromeboy 2022-04-04T13:20:31Z

Big praise for the theme song alone. Took this game from a solid bomb defusing experience to one truly transcending reality. Graphics are nice, I love the randomly chosen locations and the leaderboard is a really good idea (even though I apparently suck at binary addition and can't even get close to those scores lol)

The only negative I could give is that the switches don't reset when you solve a problem, meaning you can't just go back to doing left to right addition as easily.

The Last Keeper by Bugord 2022-04-08T19:52:30Z

This game induces stress. The good kind. The I am playing a game that is trying to get me stressed as its core mechanic stress. And it succeeds in that masterfully. The pixel art was really amazing, I really loved the color schemes for the magic elements which are all this nice combo of black and purple. The only thing really lacking is content, you only have four types of towers and you can spend a lot of time just waiting. So if there were more types of tower or more objectives to clear, I could see this as a really nice little game.

The Lars Mission by Honest Dan 2022-04-08T21:22:37Z

Really makes you feel like a true space rocket researcher. The modular tasks work really well together and even though it took me a round to figure out how everything works but once I got it I had a really nice time running around and finishing all the tasks. The entire game looks and feels fantastic, the art is consistent and fits together really nicely. The music is also really nice and the voice acting takes this game to a whole nother level. Overall one of the best games in the jam for me so far.

Blep

Slither And Fire by J0ye 2022-04-04T08:49:20Z

So imagine Fruit Ninja. Then combine that with Missile Command. Then combine that with Conway's game of life.

What you get is this. I don't know why the dissolve animation is so satisfying but yeah it really is. There isn't much content here but it's a great thing to fire up if you got a few minutes of downtime.

Stop the clock by Shampop 2022-04-06T12:21:51Z

Very nice! You get the game idea immediately and then you just keep wondering what wild trick the clock will throw at you next. Gets really really tense once you're low on time. Great game!

The Scraps of Victory by Donitz 2022-04-06T22:20:16Z

First of all, the fact that this is native Javascrips blows my mind. The fake 3D was amazing just like the rest of the graphics (even though there were some minor glitches here and there but nothing game breaking), the gameplay struck a nice balance between frustrating and rewarding and the gameplay elements being introduced one after the other gave a nice sense of progress. Overall fantastic job.

Emergency Escape by Neon Glass 2022-04-06T19:47:56Z

This is what would happen if FTL met Rimworld and it's just as amazing as it sounds. The different crewmates can be hard to distinguish from each other in the beginning but once you understand what they do you can really plan ahead and have a lot of fun. Also the soundtrack slaps.

Nighty Night, Nosferatu by Shawn Moore 2022-04-07T09:00:28Z

Really nice platformer concept. The artstyle is really nice, I love the way the shadows give the game this pseudo 3D feel similar to Super Mario Bros. 3. The controls were nice and tight although the general character speed was a bit too fast for my taste. Also unfortunately every time I left the shadows my framerate tanked hard so I could not finish this one. What I've seen is really nice though :D

The Pride of South Bastule by Zachary Talis 2022-04-04T09:11:36Z

Started a game, woke up, said "This can wait another day" and went back to sleep. Most profound story I've ever seen.

From what I understand from the code, your game auto generates a story from the input you give it. I'm pretty impressed with how natural the language sounds but for some reason my stories always end a few sentences in. I can't seem to actually get anywhere either. So this is a really impressive tech demo with a lot of potential if the stories were longer.

Parcel Run by JoeShanahan 2022-04-06T21:43:11Z

Love the graphics, the song fits the chaotic gameplay very nicely and the general game loop is nice and feels fun to play. The only thing I didn't like quite as much was the slipperyness of the player character. Other than that, really fun, well made game.

Click to Continue by Daniel Foutz 2022-04-04T12:14:55Z

Man this was an experience.

I thought this would be one of those "haha click continue 200 times" games that just get annoying after a while. I'm glad to say that this comes with enough content to not get stale. I won't go into detail here because I think a big part of this game is experiencing it blind but it really starts to ramp up eventually. I think you capped it at exactly the right point as well, you got good stuff in and then left on a high note. Very nice game.

I'm on a boat - Anxiety Simulator by Sopata 2022-04-06T21:59:21Z

Absolute chaos, absolute mayhem, insanity and I'm there for all of it. Love the characters, the game feels fantastic, once it gets hectic it just doesnt stop which is good and the music absolutely hammers the urgency of the situation down. Overall great experience, if this had more than one level I'd pay money for this.

Carpe Diem by Pomo 2022-04-08T22:10:27Z

Synthwave aesthetics are the way to my heart. This game just hits all the right spots. The art. The music. The gameplay. Theres nothing not to love. Except the floatiness of the character. That takes some time to get used to.

Other than that, perfect.

The Inevitable Dominion by Kupnu4 2022-04-06T21:27:34Z

Honestly, for this being a one button control game this is one of the most fun ones I've played this jam. Just the sheer happiness of blasting an oncoming flock of soldiers to pieces by pressing space is something few games have managed to get out of me. The artstyle and sound design were on point as well. Top shelf quality product.

NOT YET by TheGreenWorm 2022-04-06T21:09:45Z

Had a blast playing this :D

The character design is fantastic, the music really gets the energy going and the gameplay is really hard, always fair, very rewarding, just almost perfect. If this was expanded into a real game, maybe with more story driven parts as well, I could really see this take off.

No Match by Peche et Tradition 1867 2022-04-08T22:26:29Z

The way this game presents itself is absolutely amazing. The clean casino style, the cards which are beautiful, the soothing jazz, the voice acting, the quippy lines, everything plays together super nicely. And the game concept itself is so simple yet so fun, I really don't know how to say anything negative here. Amazing job.

Department Of Demise by Crychair 2022-04-08T19:37:01Z

I had a rollercoaster of emotions which is exactly what the devs intended. Or so I'm told. Nice atmosphere, the soundtrack is super well designed and fits the game, the gameplay is hectic as it can be but also makes sense and is always manageable.

Day of the Flame - LD 50 by arya-s 2022-04-08T22:38:45Z

Very short, very sweet. Loved the graphics, loved the setting and the mood it created, the sounds were nice but the game really needed some background music, it felt a bit quiet. The controls and gameplay were really nice although I cant seem to hit anything with my fireballs as they always jump over my target. That might be on me though. As for the theme, I never really felt in danger of dying since there was so much material to refill my fire bar everywhere. Overall I really enjoyed playing this though, if expanded I could see this as a released game.

If you want to check the VOD the section where I play your game starts at 3 hours and aroud 7 minutes.

Gods of Divine Stuff: RAgnarƶk by Anaxie Studio 2022-04-06T19:00:44Z

Nice tower defense game. I didnt get too far before the seagulls obliterated me immediately but what I saw was pretty nice. I like the hand drawn sprites, the dialogue was good and the interface was nice and intuitive. Good work.

Cup Half Full by BangTheWall 2022-04-06T18:19:14Z

Its tetris but with physics. Whats there not to love?

Its the exact amount of janky where it's fun without being frustrating. GG.

Mortal Compass by JakubBala 2022-04-08T20:11:29Z

The atmosphere in this is intense. You really feel like you are taking out a small town as the grim reaper. The spritework was fantastic, I loved the lighting, the sound effects were nice, the only thing I didn't enjoy fully was the music. I don't feel like it really fits the mood and the cutoff when you die is a bit abrupt. Otherwise extremely well made.

Protocol Delta by itsBoats 2022-04-06T20:47:35Z

The level of polish in this is so damn high that if you released this on Steam I would buy it. The gameplay is incredibly smooth and satisfying, the enemy variety is just right to keep things fresh while knowing what you're up against and the controls feel responsive and make every death feel like your own fault. Probably the best game I've played this jam so far.

Tap to Snooze by Jul._.li 2022-04-04T12:44:11Z

Niiice! Really good work on the UI, very intuitive, the music is pleasant, the small sound effects are really nice and the minigames are simple but also varied enough to make it just the right amount of challenging. The only thing I didn't like was that the Hold 1 second game sometimes doesn't register the start of holding the button quite right so I lost most of my time on that one. Other than that, perfect minigame collection :D

Inevitable Orbit by ThumperTWS 2022-04-04T13:38:12Z

Very nice game! The first time I used up my spare tanks way too soon, in my second round I used them more sensible and that's when the game really opened up. Nice sound effects, nice graphics, I didn't encounter any bugs. However one time one of my tanks spawned so close to the planet that I could not collect it without crashing.

Void Prison by Tadas Migauskas 2022-04-08T20:42:17Z

This game is just like Enter the Gungeon in the terms that I am really bad at it and cant survive for longer than a minute. The entire presentation is so polished and so crisp that I can not believe this was made in three days. The sprites are really nice, the soundtrack SLAPS and the sound effects are really nice. The one thing I would change is to make the character less floaty in controls. Otherwise the roll was nice and worked and the gameplay loop was fantastic. Please expand this and take my money. Thanks.

MooshiMooshi by AnonymousPanda 2022-04-04T11:48:25Z

Really moody, really mysterious. The music adds a really good atmosphere to the entire game and controls were fine. I think I would have preferred to have a dynamic jump height based on how long I hold spacebar but that is really nitpicking. For your first game, this is incredibly well done and I think you have a lot of potential :D

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

INTRUSIVE by Ava Skoog 2022-10-18T16:09:28Z

This was INTENSE. I actually started to breathe faster and felt really anxious all the way through. The ending was really beautiful. Man, what an experience. Fantastic.

Queue to Hell by FernandaBatista 2022-10-18T17:41:33Z

Fantastic simple game. The premise is incredibly fun, the mechanics are easy to grasp and the dialogue is really funny. I think the theme wasn't implemented perfectly, sometimes it felt unfair to get more rage from just taking slightly too long to respond. In general, this could totally be expanded into a full game though.

Kaboomer! by 0x01F0 2022-10-18T18:10:38Z

Great concept. The game looks really nice and feels really good to control, even though picking up bombs can be a bit unresponsive sometimes. The general gameplay idea is great and if this got some background music and more levels, this would be a banger game (pun intended).

11/10 would rescue grandma from a barrage of bombs any day

Village Defender by UkuleleFury 2022-10-18T18:03:39Z

This looks incredible. The work done on the AI alone is insane. Then having the thing play well gameplay wise too is really nice. Unfortunately I had serious framerate issues in all browsers I tested and in the downloaded version. Eventually the game would become completely unplayable each time unfortunately. Also, when you zoom out, the zoom in focuses on the mouse cursor and not on the player so you can accidentally zoom your character off screen. Other than those small issues, a really impressive game.

Potion Panic! by dodori 2022-10-21T15:29:00Z

I love top down action games so this was a nice game to play from the beginning. The potion system is really well implemented, I like that you can save potions for later and that there are stronger potions sometimes. The artwork is nice and tells you exactly what is going on even if you have many enemies on the screen. I also love the trails on projectiles.

The only thing I have to criticize is the punch. Its hitbox is just the fist, making it incredibly hard to hit enemies that are very close to you and keep dealing you damage. Aiming in general is a bit too unforgiving in my opinion. You could try increasing the size of the punch hitbox to be a line from the player to the fist, I think that would solve all my complaints immediately. Apart from that I really enjoyed playing.

Windy Mountain by InitialPosition 2022-10-24T09:52:44Z

Okay so I'm finally getting around to write a comment here. I've been pretty busy since LD51 and couldn't really answer anything here.

First of all, I want to thank all of you for your feedback and praise. I've read all of it and as always it's such a good feeling to see that people enjoyed what I made.

@lancival @ghostbomb @asieke It's really interesting to see that the camera apparently was a problem this time. It was the first time I implemented a camera that allows you to look ahead further in the direction you're going and I thought I balanced the values for that pretty well, although while playing the game again a few weeks later I did notice something was off with the camera, even though I couldn't exactly pinpoint what it was. Apparently my camera coding still needs work :D I think making the camera move a bit slower horizontally could already solve this but I will experiment around to find out exactly what is feeling odd so I can avoid that in the future. Thanks for the feedback there!

@ukulelefury @aligator @alex-de-la-cour @chungostudios @deepfreeze @resacagames The jump orbs were a pain to get right and I'd agree with that they still aren't. I actually already gave them massively oversized hitboxes to compensate but playing the game again now I agree it's a bit unreliable. In retrospect I should have made them activate on their own and grant you a double jump when touched but that didn't even occur to me during development for some reason. It would be one of the first things I'd change should I ever come back to this project though. Thanks for your feedback :D

@ava-skoog The web version is unfortunately always a bit weird in unexpected ways, yeah. During development I only really test the Windows build because I can do that fast. Game Maker should theoretically run on all platforms with the code you write but there's always small things that end up being incompatible between platforms. This time it was a lot of sound based problems apparently. I will probably tidy up the code in the coming week and release a post jam update addressing the main criticisms people had and if I manage I'll fix up the other platforms as well. Thanks for bringing that to my attention :D

@jeremy-ryan Ok so first of all that drawing is incredible and when I saw it my brain ceased to function for about a minute. Never in my life did I expect to ever get someone with actual talent to make fanart of my quickly thrown together super low res pixel art so I was completely overwhelmed and happy when I saw it. Thank you so much. As for your confidence in my art skill, I use such low pixel counts because I can't draw anything of higher resolution without it looking absolutely terrible right now. I'm working on it and I'm confident that I'll improve (maybe I'll try to tackle larger sprites next jam :D) but for now this is the absolute best I can produce. If I get to a point where I'm confident with larger pixel counts one day, I'll remake the player sprite just to flex on my current self.

Congratulations, you have reached the end of this comment. Please take a 5 minute break now and hydrate yourself. Have a great day! :D

10s Bar Brawl by Cedric86 2022-10-20T16:01:59Z

I like the concept but it is kinda rough in its current state. The gimmick of switching weapons every 10 seconds is amazing and I love that they always come in the same order so you can plan ahead because eventually you know the cycle. The soundtrack is also very nice and the environmental lighting gives you a really nice cyberpunky brawl atmosphere.

My main problems were the ones you already mention in your description: Many enemies just got stuck in walls and were no threat to me since I could just ignore them. Other enemies had such fast accelleration that it was impossible for me to outrun them. Some weapons like the close range sword are slightly OP as in you can just hold down the mouse button and run into enemies.

All my complaints are probably caused by jam deadlines and are probably fairly easily fixable. If you do, add some more stages, some more enemy varieties and make everything a bit snappier and more coherent, this would be an excellent indie game I'd gladly pay a few bucks for. If you add couch coop, add some more bucks to those bucks.

Fall Apart by AlgeBRUH 2022-10-20T15:54:10Z

As already mentioned a lot, figuring out you need to hold F down took a few attempts. After I got that, the actual game was nice and had a nice feel of urgency, I think the round goes on too long though. You just do the same thing over and over and it starts to feel really repetitive towards the end. I think having the mini games be the default fixing method and having to hold F for a long time after three failures would give the game more variety and would penalize letting things go down more. Otherwise, the graphics were nice and the music created some really nice spacey atmosphere.

Escape from The Aquillus by Alex de la Cour 2022-10-18T15:53:55Z

The atmosphere this builds is phenomenal. Had a great time with the levels, the introduction of new gameplay elements is smooth and the overall presentation is really well done. Music fits the game and the graphics are very pleasing to look at. My only complaint is that I could not control the height of my jump which sometimes let to deaths that I felt I could have easily avoided otherwise. Other than that, fantastic entry.

The Ariadaeus Run by Deepfreeze 2022-10-20T16:08:04Z

Nice to see a fellow Game Maker game here :D

This is one of the games that nails the "very simple gameplay loop that has incredible addiction potential". Driving is just fun, learning when and how to use the mechanics is nice and I can see a lot of potential with more hazards or a time trial mode with a fixed map. Presentation was simple but easy enough to understand everything while playing and the music and sound effects slap. Fantastic entry.

Maze Again by altGr0b 2022-10-05T21:27:49Z

Small little fun experiment. Controlling the character felt nice, the fact that you snap to the blocks is a good idea that makes getting stuck on corners impossible. The ability to mark wrong ways was also nice. The only thing I have to criticize is that the timer only shows up for the last three seconds. Why not show it the entire time?

Also when you beat the game the exit button doesn't close the game :D That's not too bad though.

ExperiMental by nilolo 2022-10-04T13:11:33Z

Yo that was fantastic. When I started I didn't expect a multiple level FPS with really solid platforming. The random effects make this incredibly fun to play and the artstyle is amazing. It's a bit too easy for my taste but I see a lot of potential here.

The Artist by Tomga 2022-10-18T16:05:07Z

Reminded me a lot of Inscryption. Having to figure out what/how the card types attack took a bit of time, some indicators on the cards could help here. Otherwise the art is very nice and the game is nice to play. I couldn't find a way to get back to the main menu or close the game after a round though and restarting the game everytime you finish a round is a bit annoying.

Escape From Paradox Place by Voidwave 2022-10-18T16:00:17Z

Fantastic player characters :D

Loved the graphics, the puzzles that really worked well with each other and the general gameplay loop. I love speedrunning and this game basically forces you to speedrun so this was right up my alley. Music and sound effects also create a fantastic mood. Good job!

Jumpy Fellow by ChungoStudios 2022-10-21T11:44:13Z

Nice and simple gameplay loop presented in an easy to grasp and pleasing to look at artstyle. Chasing the highscore is really fun and the double jumps are a good way to incentivize more risky play. Only complaint I have is that the jump feels a bit floaty and air control could be a bit tighter, otherwise this was really fun and well executed. Good job :D

4go10se by Stepan Mulenok 2022-10-21T11:50:01Z

Really nice game concept, it took me a few attempts to understand how each game worked but once I did it was really fun trying to get the highscore. I love that the entire thing is playable only with the mouse and works really well with it. Unfortunately I died in the platforming game when I got stuck between two platforms and had no chance of escape so there's still some minor flaws to iron out. Other than that though, good job :D

LD52 — Harvest

Tractor vs. Ufo by pcmaster 2023-01-15T15:46:05Z

The concept and general gameplay are nice. I liked the artstyle and control over the tractor, the particle effects being arrows was a nice touch and the scare attacks visual and audio created a really good attack.

However I felt like the game did too little for too long. Just harvesting apples seemed to be enough to always win, the aliens never pulled ahead even when otherwise completely ignoring them. The scare attack is also really difficult to aim and hit with.

Orchard Archer by icxon 2023-01-11T09:53:20Z

Very nice! Really good idea to make the apples cycle through different colors so you have to plan ahead when to shoot which apple. The arrow physics also feel intuitive and its really satisfying to hit shots from a long range. A lot of fun, good job :)

Hobby Gardener by Yngvarr 2023-01-10T18:31:52Z

Nice little garden sim. I think it's nice that you don't give too much information on how the different plants work but also don't really punish the player for experimenting to find out more about them. The quest system is interesting and helps to keep giving you new goals. I didn't really understand the weather system that well since I couldn't do anything against plants growing in non ideal conditions anyway but my garden became a beautiful mess of growing things and I think that's all that matters :D

Reap, Water, Sow by Zirrrus 2023-01-15T16:19:37Z

Really fun short game. The three stages are a nice idea, especially since they all build on each other. Wonky physics games are usually really fun and this is no exception.

It's a bit sad that I had to control the drone using the on screen buttons. Having to look back and forth between the drone and the controls takes fun away from an otherwise really nice game.

I could easily see this expanded into a full game, maybe with different stages containing different environmental hazards or even a competitive local multiplayer with multiple drones.

Tile King by MiltonNH25 2023-01-14T12:24:26Z

Reminded me of Civilization quite a bit with the different resource farming. The game is easy to understand if you've ever played Civ and revealing the map tile by tile is really rewarding. The graphics are nice and seeing everything produce resources every turn was really satisfying.

I have some criticism though. I think it would be great to have a "Sell all" feature, at some point you have to right click so much that it takes up most of your turn just to sell everything you need to get the money to survive. I also once somehow managed to pay the money I owed even though I didn't have it all and started the next turn with -5 gold. Finally, I think the music takes too much focus away from the game. You have to strategize and make decisions and the music is a bit distracting. Maybe a softer soundtrack or just ambient sounds would work better here.

Whap Harvest by pushmepullyu 2023-01-11T13:09:30Z

Nice game. Loved how intuitive the entire thing was, you move a bit, click a bit and understand everything you need to know. Loved combining the movement with the reaction test to actually get the fish out of the water.

One thing I didn't like was that if you get more than one fish out of the water at the same time, they always gain the exact same height. Depending on how spread out they fall down, this can make collecting one of the fish impossible. Other than that, I didn't notice anything negative.

Paper Druids by rubr 2023-01-15T15:16:50Z

A surprising amount of strategy for such a simplistic game. Really makes you think about your unit movement and about which troops to get. Graphics were really nice to look at and the music wasn't distracting at all.

I think it could be nice to see where the enemy troops will move next round so you can plan your strategy even better but I don't know if that would maybe break balancing.

Escape From The Ostrobothnia by Tomssuli 2023-01-10T09:57:47Z

Nice little farming simulator. Really enjoyed the harvester driving mechanics, it just feels nice driving the thing around. I didn't really need to upgrade the shotgun ever, I just used the two shots I had to scare off animals. Graphics are simple but don't hurt the eye and the music is nice and relaxing. Great game to relax for a bit.

Cursed Nurse by InitialPosition 2023-01-21T20:18:27Z

@lfreinoso @mephistase I see the funny bug where music doesn't play in the HTML5 version is back this time. If you played HTML5, I can only suggest to download the standalone version, that has consistently working music. I still don't exactly know why the web version sometimes doesn't load the music properly but I'll try to find a fix for that.

V.O.L.E. by iCalm 2023-01-11T13:04:23Z

Interesting idea to have a text based game in the jam. I liked the overall setting and never felt overwhelmed by the choices but sometimes it was a bit unclear what the next course of action should be. You never really learn what the different actions do, which cleanup must be done to cover up which information stealing and so on. Still an impressive amount of content for such a short timeframe.

Can confirm that this is a really hectic game. Never felt overwhelming but you always have something to do. The artstyle is nice and the music gives the entire thing an ominous feeling overall. The interaction noise was fantastic as well.

I feel like there is too little variety overall though, you go through the same two actions over and over. It's technically enough for a small game, especially for a Ludum Dare game but I don't think it's fun for as long as you need to do it to finish the game. I think reducing the amount of heads you need to win to about 15 would help the gameplay feel less stale.

Chess The Second by aslan 2023-01-10T18:23:33Z

As an avid chess fan and a person that has played 0.2 rounds of Civilisation in their life this was right up my alley :D

I liked how simple the mechanics themselves were yet how deep the gameplay could get. Really thinking about farm placements, contemplating which resources to get how and which pieces to make was an interesting twist on both games. Graphics are very fitting as well. I would have loved some sound effects and the map can sometimes generate in a way that feels a bit unfair but overall this is a solid entry.

Final Harvest by GreyNovemberGames 2023-01-15T16:29:58Z

Mood wise this was probably one of the best games I've played this jam. The environment really looks abandoned and slightly hostile, the music makes the mood really grim and the storm slowly rolling in is unsettling to say the least.

I liked the concept of having to find food in the given time limit, the collectables were nicely indistinguashible from the background objects. I would have liked to see how much time is left before the storm though.

The art is really nice and consistent and moving through the world to see all of it is basically entertaining on its own. Speaking of, sometimes you get stuck on random or invisible things when moving.

Overall a really good entry, especially for a compo game.

LD53 — Delivery

Mother's Day: Requiem by jaydubbyasee 2023-05-03T00:01:22Z

I am not quite sure what I played yet. I enjoyed it a lot though. I'm a very big fan of the soundtrack especially, very fitting for the game.

Postman Parcel Panic by J0ye 2023-05-02T07:57:44Z

- Solid gameplay - Excellent voice acting - Banger soundtrack to drift to - Parcel delivery has never been this exciting

Very solid game concept, game rules are very intuitive, nicely executed, clean artstyle, very well done sound wise. Had a lot of fun. Truly one of the games of all time.

Lern Island Letters by Andori_Paic 2023-05-02T15:13:49Z

What an excellent little game. Loved the stories you told through envelopes alone and how you kind of got to know the residents just by seeing what sort of mail they got. The letter animations were really nice as well, everything felt very polished. Sound was definitely noticeably absent but the game was intriguing and engaging nonetheless. I think if this got some soundscape and maybe more content you could release this as a small indie game. Very well done :D

Package Punk by Pomo 2023-05-03T23:07:37Z

Massive fun. Skate physics on point, grappling took a few rounds to get used to but is very solid and versatile, soundtrack is fantastic, graphics look nice, online leaderboards make you want to get gut. Absolute masterpiece, one of my favorites this jam.

DEVILivery by Blue Pin Studio 2023-05-05T19:13:06Z

Really fun game again. I am eternally grateful for making the game easier once you die. Love the presentation, the gameplay and the look and feel of this game. Great job.

Fantastic particles.

Superbloom by devook 2023-05-04T17:40:43Z

Excellent mood in this game. When I realized I had no real goal the game became incredibly relaxing which is very nice. I also enjoyed the background music, the graphics and how well everything worked. Sometimes when you fly too fast the camera starts doing backflips though and you can't really control your character when that happens. Otherwise, very relaxing little game!

SMTP by InitialPosition 2023-05-01T08:21:47Z

@johnnysix that is a known bug with the web build unfortunately. I have found that resizing the window to exactly the canvas size is a workaround for now but I'll try to fix that bug today.

EDIT: expertly hotfixed the bug by moving the canvas to the upper left corner.

Criminal courier by DmitryGalias 2023-05-05T18:57:34Z

Very interesting approach to make a board game. Everything was very intuitive and it was very nice having to think about how to approach different situations with random dice throws. UNfortunately, at some point my dice just stopped working and couldn't be rolled anymore so I couldn't finish the game. Very nice game!

Hell'o-Cargo by agudar 2023-05-03T23:37:26Z

Fantastic game. Very Celeste like.

I LOVED the artstyle, LOVED the music, LOVED the gameplay, LOVED the ending. I don't know what to criticise here, you made something beautiful. Might be my favorite and the most polished game this jam.

Personal Delivery Conglomerateā„¢ by chybby 2023-05-04T18:04:21Z

Very fun game. I love that you split the game into warehouse management and retrieving the correct parcels, it felt like two minigames in one. Music is fantastic and I love the small voice bits, game is also very clean visually. I eventually accidentally clipped one of the boxes through the wall into the customer area and couldn't continue but it's very fun and a solid entry. If you developed this further and maybe even added a coop multiplayer I could see myself spending some money on this.

Irresponsible deliveries by Rezioz 2023-05-02T21:38:05Z

I swear it was every pedestrians sole mission to run into my car.

Very nice game concept, I liked the simple artstyle and very intuitive layout of the map. The music is nice and fitting for the mayhem that happens in this game and the policemen are hilarious. I found the car to turn way too slowly for the neck breaking speeds I was going at, so it was sometimes hard to reach my destination on time. Nice work!

Second Piece by Brovovar 2023-05-05T18:41:18Z

Very moody game. Loved how you had to choose between going faster or seeing things. However, the game is apparently too difficult for me as I kept dying to the first few monsters. The atmosphere is fantastic though and the fact you used a home made engine for this makes it even better.

Beak and Bundle by Aivaxela 2023-05-02T23:49:17Z

Man, I didn't expect a full side scroller shoot em up in this jam :D

Controls are lovely, a bit floaty but not too floaty to feel unfair (and, I mean, your character is literally floating.) The graphics are fantastic, the enemies were nice and combat felt nice. I agree that losing the baby every time you were hit was punishing, perhaps a three hit system would be better fitted here. Other than that I have nothing to complain about.

Bundles of Joy by MetallicPotato 2023-05-05T18:47:59Z

I really liked the presentation of this. Graphics are nice and it's easy to distinguish people. Understanding the game took me a few attempts but once I got the hang of the physics it was really fun.

Devil's Gone Nuts by StormForged 2023-05-04T17:53:31Z

Nice idea, background music is a bop, movement feels nice. I had a problem where picking up boxes seems to move them to a certain point for a short duration, I think it is directly under the pipe. This results in picking up the first box usually throwing the entire rest of the batch into random directions and makes boxes too far from the pipe impossible to pick up. Otherwise, solid execution, throwing felt incredibly rewarding once you figured out the physics.

Nut.

LD54 — Limited Space

Lines by thebmxeur 2023-10-03T01:45:18Z

Neat little game. I can't finish it to save my life but I enjoyed trying. Music is nice and enjoyable on multiple listens, controls do what they're supposed to and graphics are simple, but clear.

Limited Parking Space by Johnsensei 2023-10-03T00:49:29Z

I swear my car was driving into oncoming traffic and every street corner ON PURPOSE :D

Great little game, loved how hectic everything felt by design, how you wanted to get a parking space close to the restaurant and how stressful the entire thing felt. Truly a good representation of real life.

My earliest arrival was at 5:30 :D

Dogtor Jones and the Holy Bone by Neon Glass 2023-10-03T01:13:29Z

Very very nice entry! Loved how he would just pop up from the side when you get it wrong. Adds some nice humor to this game. The gameplay was nice, especially how you had to contemplate getting treasure vs getting out of danger in time. Music and audio were very fitting and well done. I encountered one bug where I accidentally used a time slowdown right before the stage ended and the first walls on the next stage wouldn't close until I used another one. Other than that, I had a great time with this :D

What to leave behind? by Owinmowe 2023-10-03T00:13:55Z

The art was really pretty and the music was a nice choice. I liked that all items had an associated sound and how the story of this person was told through them. I wish there was more to this game, the decisions on which items you keep currently make no difference at the end. I can totally see this expanded with more moves and branching narrative paths depending on which items you keep.

Riven by JunaGames 2023-10-03T01:22:57Z

This was REALLY WELL DONE! The movement took a few rounds to get used to but once you get the hang of it it's super satisfying. I like that there are so many hazards and things you have to look out for. The background animations like the birds are also really nice. The music is cheerful and made it so I never got frustrated. Because damn is this game hard! On my first few attempts I got absolutely blasted to shreds after a few seconds. Once you learn what the items do it becomes manageable though. Overall, fantastic entry!

Attack of the Robot Crabs by Dovodx 2023-10-03T00:32:03Z

OH YEAH! Genuinely fun little FPS with great movement, great gunfeel and great difficulty ramp. Once you start getting a feeling for your movement speed and gun control, you can just chain absurd shots. Sound design is excellent and the game looks really nice as well. There could be more variety with the enemies or their behavior but this is a compo game so I'm impressed. You could totally turn this into a round based mini FPS with multiple stages and enemies though, the gameplay already feels incredibly rewarding.

BBD-MK0 by Syntaxxor 2023-10-03T01:32:12Z

Loved this! Nice idea having to change your button mapping on the fly and the building block approach incorporated the theme very nicely. Loved the level design, graphics and audio as well. The inclusion of a speedrun mode was unexpected but I completely understand it :D

Only thing I would criticize is that sometimes you have to change your button layout a lot in a level and it can get a bit tedious when you die and have to rearrange everything every time. Other than that, I loved this.

Box of Squingus by leckert 2023-10-03T01:39:00Z

Really nice game! Loved the animations, the game concept and the levels. The difficulty progressed nicely and the overall presentation was really smooth and polished. I wish there was sound, some nice music and simple sound effects would make this a really solid experience, but what I got was already nice so that's ok. I don't really like the Space+Arrow Keys solution for shrinking the border, it feels a bit weird to stop and resize that all the time. You could try making the border auto drag when you exceed the maximum size so you don't have to pause as often.

LD55 — Summoning

You Have Been Summoned by Frederika 2024-04-20T17:44:41Z

I did not expect to see a visual novel in this jam. I like the interpretation of "summoning" you went for, I loved that you used the UI for story relevant elements such as the summoning letter and I definitely commend your extra work in drawing all the scenes. I think the story would benefit from some more choices because as is, the story gives you a few options to change what happens and if you manage to find the main route (shoutout to the skip button), you end up on a final decision that ultimately more or less leads to the same ending.

Summoners Rift by Flatgub 2024-04-18T16:29:58Z

It's really impressive just how much content you managed to create in such a short amount of time. I loved the interactive tutorial, how well the different mechanics worked together and the voice acted sound effects put a smile on my face multiple times. I think however that the game is a bit too long. About 10 days in I started just going through the same motions every time and managed to win with that. I think either reducing the amount of preparation days or having some really strong cards that take one or a few days of your time would balance this game to perfection :)

Unholy Sanctum by elemel 2024-04-17T13:10:39Z

I like the general concept of using health as your summoning resource. You said you didn't have any time left to implement healing/absorbing mechanics and that is a shame because I believe your idea needs some way to heal. Right now, you basically just cast things at the enemies and hope that they will be stalled for long enough to not destroy your base in time. If you added some way to regain health, be it by collecting things the enemies drop or a slow heal over time, and made the controls a bit less floaty (because once you run out of summons you can kind of distract the enemies for a bit by distracting them and the controls make that very hard), I see a very nice top down defense game here.

Puddle of Death by Shawn Beck 2024-04-20T18:00:15Z

A very short, simplistic game that gives you one clear end goal and then just lets you figure stuff out on your own. I did like that you had different monsters to summon, even if I could not tell what the difference between them was. I mainly spammed imps which seemed to work for most of the game as the humans never even got close to my base. The graphics are nice, I enjoyed the soundtrack, only the camera was a bit hyperactive and panned around a bit too much for my taste. As mentionend before, it is very easy to break the difficulty by reusing resources from further back and the game ending was a bit sudden for me.

Summonion: A Legal Tale by dxk2294 2024-04-20T18:48:01Z

I had a lot of fun with this game. The different mechanics worked together perfectly, the scaling was just right to never feel over- or underpowered, the level design and layouts were fantastic, everything felt solid, I honestly don't know what to criticize here. I unfortunately ran into a bug where some letters made it to the portal but apparently missed it and left the map which softlocked the game but I had a fantastic time until that happened. If this got more polish and work put into it I would buy this.

Cooking Mana by Roitchie 2024-04-18T12:58:58Z

Short but really fun minigame collection! Loved the gameplay of every single one but a short countdown or instruction on what to do before the games would be nice, I initially lost some games because you lose if you don't do anything for half a second. Once I understood the games, they immediately activated my S-rank hunting mode so you did everything right otherwise :D

The artstyle is really nice, the sound effects work well and the UI is easily understandable so I have no complaints there. Some music would make this game even better but it's impressive what you pulled of as is :)

My succubus girlfriend by NinjaCatz 2024-04-18T13:15:55Z

First of all, I loved the game a lot. The art style is gorgeous, the calm music is a perfect addition in the background (and that you can change the song is a great feature) and I found the item gathering to be really well done with just the right amount of item combining and searching. However, I immensely struggled with the actual summoning part because in my opinion the 8-ball is way too strict with the circle drawing. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea, but the drawing part almost made my hand cramp and I was under incredible stress in this otherwise very relaxing and calm game. It took me about 3 or 4 attempts every single time, I just couldn't figure out the correct way to do it. I think this is made more difficult by the fact that the line does not originate from the top of the chalk which makes it incredibly hard to stay in the marking, especially in the lower left quadrant of the circle. I think a more forgiving circle detection or an indicator where exactly you draw your line would immensely improve accessibility. Other than that, this is an incredibly well polished, very nice looking game that I had a lot of fun playing :)

Sinful Scoops by Blue Pin Studio 2024-04-29T21:36:13Z

Honestly one of the best games I've played during a Ludum Dare. Like, all of them.

I loved the difficulty progression, the symbol detection sometimes got my drawings wrong but that was only until I noticed you could draw your shapes in any rotation so pride for example could be a right side up pentagram and still count. Audio was great, graphics were _fantastic_ (excellent use of particles btw :D ) and gameplay overall was incredibly fun. I kind of want to speedrun this game. I don't know why. But keep it up.

Kitchen Nightmares by Landerack 2024-04-17T13:41:24Z

This is what I imagine psychedelics feel like.

I didn't really understand what I was doing and didn't manage to finish the game but I had a good time exploring the map and I loved the voice acting. I also discovered you can do prop surfing with the meat chunks :D I fell out of the map at some point and wasn't able to get back in. If there was a category for artistic value this would absolutely get full points from me.

Sorcerer's Army of Summons by Rendow 2024-04-17T13:46:23Z

I love this! It's a very nice balance between movement and summoning, having to collect XP for upgrades is a nice touch that forces the player to move into action to level up and the progression feels incredibly nice. I eventually always got swarmed by enemies but I had a lot of fun with this.

DESUMMONING by InitialPosition 2024-04-15T08:19:12Z

@maks-night-dlc thank you very much :D

There was _a lot_ more content planned that unfortunately I just didn't get around to. I might port this game to Godot soon so I can properly work on some of the things I wanted to implement for a post jam update but we will see.

Sumo & Ning by universeflow 2024-04-15T23:15:00Z

Absolutely loved the rolling mechanic and how it was just the right amount of floaty to be a perfect risk reward system. Took me a while to understand the cooking mechanic but once I did I had a great time.

Limbo Solutions inc. by out1oud 2024-04-17T13:17:10Z

I don't know if I did anything wrong but I could usually make out my target by their physical description alone. I tried using all the other items but could not really tell what they were doing or if they were doing anything at all. From day two, I just read what they looked like and summoned the only person that matched the description, so some balancing could work in this games favor. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the artstyle and calm music :D

Nectar Nexus by Jupiterintardis 2024-04-18T16:48:55Z

Very good, surreal experience. Took me a bit to figure out how exactly my flowers can influence the bees path but once I did, I got completely immersed in the sounds, colors and levels. Very simple principle but paired with the excellent level design it makes for a challenging but incredibly rewarding game. Loved this.

Unpetrify by Jawdan 2024-04-15T23:52:29Z

Had to get the hang of things first, then had a wonderful time raising my army of undead gardeners. 10/10. Would play again.

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Checkmite by Roitchie 2024-10-20T17:16:28Z

Very nice autobattler! Had a great time coming up with different combos to make it through the game, although I had to do most of it through trial and error since I couldn't remember what all of the different classes do. Maybe having that information as a small on hover popup in the main game would be a good idea. Otherwise, the art was great, the strategic depth is incredibly impressive for a jam game and I thought it was over way too soon which is of course a great sign. Great job!

Animal Golfing by Andreadbx 2024-10-08T13:38:22Z

I am a big fan of almost everything in this. The music is nice, the artstyle is fantastic and the different powerups are a nice idea. The controls are good and work, the gameplay is typical good golf stuff and was enjoyable.

I encountered a very unfortunate bug though because when I completed the first level, the level summary opened but I couldn't click anything because my golfer just spawned in the hole so I was only able to hit the ball around in the hole. This happened twice in a row so unfortunately I can't play beyond level one. Also my freecam is apparently incredibly short sighted because every time I tried to get an overview of the course, it got incredibly blurry, as seen here:

getGlassesPlease.png

I also couldn't remember what the different balls do and had to go back and forth between the game and the tutorial several times. I think having a short summary (like "Extra Jump" or something) in game when you switch balls would solve that problem immediately.

I think there is incredible potential here, if you iron out the bugs this is a fantastic game.

Morsel by SvenErik 2024-10-07T11:27:34Z

Really nice game, very good graphics and I loved the sound design. The color palette and artwork is incredible and set a really nice, dense atmosphere. The heartbeat was also a really nice touch. I was a bit overwhelmed by the tutorial but the game is very self explanatory, so no problem there.

I think the music loop could be longer and I purchased so much attack power that I had no problem staying alive so some balancing could be done, but a really fantastic game overall, especially for a one person game :)

It Ant possible by voodinator 2024-10-10T22:49:06Z

Nice game. Had a good time figuring out the optimal path through the levels and actually caught myself stressing out over my ants not building bridges fast enough. I like the tileset you used, even if you can scroll past the enclosing walls to expose the game world. Honestly, I thought that was charming in a way.

It would be nice to have an indicator about which drops are survivable and which aren't because I had to guess (wrongly sometimes) where I could drop.

Impish Descent by Honey Pony 2024-10-20T16:57:42Z

It's impressive that you got a full roguelike progression system into a compo game and had enough content to not make it feel repetitive. I also felt that the current different options already allow some interesting synergies which is a good indicator of good game design.

I thought that the enemies needed more variety because almost all enemies I encountered used either homing bullets or some bullet pattern in their proximity. I would have loved to see some more attack patterns, maybe even different damage types if the time would have allowed. I also encountered some technical difficulties because sometimes an enemy spawning in or shooting bullets froze the game for about 10 seconds.

Still an incredibly impressive entry though!

Save Nebuville by Blue Pin Studio 2024-10-08T16:32:21Z

The wizards from Bluepin Studio did it again. We got a simple arcade game with nice to look at graphics, an absolute banger of a soundtrack and a firing sound effect that gives me a dopamine kick every time it pitches up after buying a fire rate upgrade. It's also so satisfying to just fire a deadly cloud of projectiles that I intentionally never upgraded accuracy. To be fair, that almost made me lose the final wave but it didn't so I stand by my decision.

Overall fantastic arcade game, get some different enemy types in, maybe some additional maps or something, and you can put this on Steam. GG.

Field Trip by InitialPosition 2024-10-11T09:20:15Z

@jemh2k @sviborg @johnbrynte @skbadger @swaglazio @j-rara @barryrichter @david-soriano @briibot @nickhellquist @d-indie @itsaina Thank you very much for your kind words, it's very motivating to read your feedback :)

@fint I experimented with different movement but had a few problems with synchronization and the game not feeling fair. For example, when the bird moves instantly, it sometimes gets you when you move off the field it is moving to. I know a way to fix this but I was close to the deadline and this was my first project in Godot ever so I didn't try too much. Maybe in a post jam version though :)

@ellaris I wanted the day/night cycle to be as forgiving for the player as possible. So I decided to make the birds inactive the moment you take your last move before nighttime. I see how it can be confusing but I'd argue the indicator makes sense, it just works differently than you initially expected. Glad to hear you still enjoyed the game :)

@multiphonix That's very odd. I had some mouse inconsistencies with Firefox on Linux but even that was still playable. To clarify, when you said it didn't register any mouse input, does that mean you could not start the game from the main menu or could you not move around in the field? I'll look into this but I am very new to Godot so no promises :)

Field Trip by InitialPosition 2024-10-14T08:14:29Z

@recher thanks for your feedback! To be honest, I had difficulties coming up with a design for the swarm I was happy with and as the deadline drew closer, I just decided to go for a particle cloud and call it a day. I could and should have gone for particles that use the same size as the rest of the game, but at that point sleep deprivation had set in :)

As for the restart, the levels are procedurally generated, so two runs should basically never be the same anyway. The tutorial is the only level in the game that uses a set seed. My favorite games in LD are ones where you can highscore hunt in games that take 5-10 minutes per run, so that was my approach to implement that in a puzzle game.

I'm glad I could bring Newgrounds back into your mind as well. It's a website that never really went away and that is still actively running contests and events and I doubt that I would have ever gotten into music production without it :D

Field Trip by InitialPosition 2024-10-14T21:48:16Z

@crocidb damn, I knew that there was a small possibility of generating an empty level but I hoped the RNG would be kind enough so it wouldn't happen so soon :D

I'll probably update the game to fix that tomorrow, I feel like that counts as bug fixing and is okay with the compo rules. Sorry the game gave you an unwinnable run, but in a sense you've been incredibly lucky :)

Thank you for your kind words!

Tiny Skweek plays Breakout by Recher 2024-10-10T23:16:03Z

Very unique take on the breakout genre, as others have mentioned. I had to get used to placing blocks in front of the player (and missed more than I want to admit) but eventually got it down. I of course got pranked by unpredictable collision bounces here and there but nothing that took me out of the zone. I like the idea of making it easier for the player by slowly breaking the last blocks by themselves over time, the fact it's running in your own engine is incredible and the only thing I can criticize is that the game doesn't fit the theme toooo much. Otherwise, nice :D

Tiny Galaxies by Gabriel Chan 2024-10-08T12:31:51Z

Incredible game, I had a lot of fun for the first round, then the leaderboard opened and added such a massive aspect of competitiveness that I played for way longer than I planned for. Art and music are both fantastic, the difficulty scaling is perfect in my opinion and the battles feel fair and rewarding. I also love that you got achievements and difficulty settings in, this game truly delivers content for hours.

The one tiny nitpick I have is that the popup that tells you what upgrades when you collect three of the same item is a bit too far out of my peripheral vision, which means I mostly missed it once the game gets more hectic and chaotic. That is such a small nitpick though that I decided to not give you a point penalty for that.

I simply love this game. Great job all around :D

Creature Falls by Ansible 2024-10-08T13:47:55Z

Nice game idea, I liked having to pay attention to several things at once and micromanaging everything. The graphics are nice and build a very nice high contrast world. I also liked the addition of the gold token and it creating new tokens every checkpoint because damn did I need them.

Sometimes the tokens get completely stuck in some parts of the course and tilting them free is either really finnicky or will inevitably destroy some other tokens, which felt a bit unfair at times, but just focusing on getting the gold token through was a good counter strategy. Also I missed sound in this, just a few tiny sound bits for impacts or deaths would add a lot of atmosphere probably.

Tiny Poopers and You by Chuckiee 2024-10-09T15:22:57Z

Took me a second to figure out the creatures leave poop behind and I'm not supposed to hoover them up. Art is nice, the sound effects fit and I like the controls and that you can rapid fire deposit by button mashing. I was sad that there are only two levels, I think more content and some enemies (maybe something that makes you lose stored poop) would turn this into a full, cute game that could be put on some online stores. Very nicely done :)

Homunculi by AlpalcaLad 2024-10-10T22:58:23Z

You didn't just make me play Getting over it again.

The platforming in the first levels was a bit slow but once the arm got involved I was moving around at speeds never seen before. I also have to commend the incredible voice acting and sound design overall.

As others have mentioned, the game eventually gets frustrating. I had to give up after trying to get past the wizard about 15 times. I think resetting the player to the beginning of the stage on hit is a bit too unforgiving and demotivates once you get sent back after some progress again and again. Maybe introduce some sort of checkpoint system or a less harsh punishment.

Ladybird Samurai by ellaris 2024-10-07T11:57:15Z

Really nice game! Took me a second to figure out, but man is the slashing satisfying. I also love the bonus objectives and extra challenges in each level and that the currency you get is skill based. With a bit more content and overall polish this could be made into a full game I'd pay money for. Really well done!

Hamster Run by jonathandavidlewis 2024-10-09T14:39:56Z

I really liked the general premise of your game and how it encourages speedrunning which is one of my favorite things to do in general. The controls felt nice, the art is good and the soundtrack is fitting, maybe a bit repetitive. I like that you had different collectibles with a risk reward system and how you placed them in the level. Finally, the leaderboard is a great addition for competitiveness and I had to try a few rounds to get a good score. Nice work :)

Tiny Bio Computer Virus by Vladimik 2024-10-10T23:06:13Z

I really liked the art in this and the sound design created a crazy dense atmosphere. I also really enjoyed your particle effects, they worked really well with your artstyle.

It was hard to figure out what I had to do. I managed to extinguish a fire in the server room and found the simulation computer where I figured out what the different shapes do and made some money but I failed to see the end goal of the game. As far as I can tell, I can make money, buy food and drinks and basically play for as long as I can but I don't see any win condition.

This game gets incredibly hectic after approximately 0 seconds. Had a blast (pun intended) immediately, took me a second to figure out that S is the most important key in the game, but managed to play a few good rounds afterwards. I had around 275000 points on my best attempt, had a lot of fun and will now wait for my blood pressure to return to normal. GG :)

Keyba by arColm 2024-10-08T12:45:37Z

Incredible game idea, love the roomba and music especially. Also, the roomba does a spin dance when you clear a level. I mean, come on. How could you not love that.

I also loved your level design, pretty much every level brought some new idea to the table, explored it for a bit and then moved on. A great difficulty curve too. The sound design was incredible as well, the clicking of the keys was incredibly satisfying every time and really helped with immersion. I don't really know what to criticise here that hasn't already been criticised, I also had a different keyboard layout than the ingame keys, but still managed to find the keys I needed fairly quickly.

If I develop hand cramps from trying to press 12 buttons at once while moving the roomba with my nose I will report back :)

Fridge Life by IRoRoI 2024-10-10T23:52:48Z

Incredible experience. Loved the different characters and the overall setting, the puzzles were nice (even though I think the first one was the best, we had a lot of fetch quests afterwards), the sound design was nice, the story was good and the controls were nice, even if I managed to glitch into several places I was probably not supposed to be at. The story was also told nicely and it was cool to see the different levels of the fridge. Very nice game.

Rat Game by Pachino55 2024-10-10T23:58:38Z

A story that will make you laugh, cry, feel joy, despair, hope and dread all at the same time. The art was fantastic, the sound design was good, I enjoyed the random traps you could die in but I wasn't too much of a fan of the controls. I was also sad when the game ended so fast, I really wanted more :)

Michael's Grand Escape! by Malenia 2024-10-07T12:34:12Z

I was in a panic from the moment I started the game and I mean that in a positive way. Understanding the enemy mechanics was a fun thing to do, trying to sneak past everyone was fun as well. The controls are nice, the movement feels fluid but maybe a bit slow overall. I love the characters you develop and I had a good time. The only thing I would change is to introduce some kind of checkpoint system because it felt incredibly punishing being caught a bit into the level and having to start all over again. Other than that, great stealth platformer. May Michael get his freedom.

RestaurANT by Guadalupe Murgo 2024-10-07T11:45:15Z

The soundtrack was an absolute banger, I loved the concept and I think the concept is really nice. I loved how hectic the game feels and everything is very intuitive and well made. I got stuck on a corner once for a bit, but otherwise I had no problems navigating and I loved how the ant cook sometimes walked sideways or backwards, somehow that added a lot of personality for me.

I had incredible difficulty getting the daily money goals because even focusing on the nearest character and serving them over and over results in not meeting the goal. Perhaps make the money scale a little slower or introduce other dishes that are maybe more complicated to build but give more money. A time indicator for when the day ends would also help a lot.

Tiny Warfare by Nassa 2024-10-10T23:33:44Z

Evolve wings, camp in a pond, slaughter enemies left and right. Life is good.

I am impressed you got a progression system working here, the art is nice, sound effects are missed but technical problems during a game jam are kind of expected so what can you do. This game basically reminded me of a demake of Brotato where you have to activate your weapon yourself. However...

I do think the wing powerup is too strong. Not only can some enemies just not reach you when you are in water, making them a free kill, you can also leave the map which is probably not intended. I never got close to dying or even taking damage and eventually let myself get killed after about 8 minutes. If you add some more progression and balance the difficulty a bit, you have a really nice game.

Ant Smasher! by cool_purr 2024-10-07T12:45:35Z

I don't even know what to write here. It's a simple tower defense that works and has nice upgrade mechanics but the fact it's made in Desmos blows my mind. I can't even begin to comprehend how you made this and you can be sure you get full innovation points. Well done.
