The crabs, they got me. Lots of good stuff in the game. I liked the crab models and the shotgun felt and looked pretty good! background music had a good vibe. I encountered some unexpected behavior like being able to go out of the hemisphere and getting pushed around. Default mouse sensitivity was rather low for me, but great job including an options menu and pause functionality. Good job :smile_cat:
OH YEAH! Genuinely fun little FPS with great movement, great gunfeel and great difficulty ramp. Once you start getting a feeling for your movement speed and gun control, you can just chain absurd shots. Sound design is excellent and the game looks really nice as well. There could be more variety with the enemies or their behavior but this is a compo game so I'm impressed. You could totally turn this into a round based mini FPS with multiple stages and enemies though, the gameplay already feels incredibly rewarding.
Fun! My final score was 24,300. Glad to see that I was able to survive long enough to discover the Fire Rate Upgrade.
I think the biggest thing that could help this game is variety - as far as I can tell, there's a single enemy type, one type of gun, and one way to interact in the gameplay. Different crabs of different sizes, or different body parts that could affect the crab's behavior when shot could really help diversify the moment-to-moment gameplay here. Additionally, maybe some differing terrain - the whole game takes place on a flat disc, but what if there were sections of differing height? Or even, given that there is what appears to be water on the ground, different effects if the player runs over it, or jumps over it? It seems a bit of a waste to allow for vertical aim when all the enemies never change their vertical position in regards to you.
Still, a fun and humorous jam game. Neat!

its pretty buggy and lacks features, but the gameplay works. Feel like the concept could have been more original

Make a release for the other platforms. It's not scary.
Make a new folder/directory, one for each platform/export. You will put each export in their own location, zip them separately and you're mostly done.
The web export is a little different, when you make the web export, you MUST name the file index (it will add the .html portion, giving you "index.html"). On itch.io, you can put the builds up, click little icon to mark platforms. For the web one, if you have the index.html file in your zip, it can be played in the browser directly.
The only other caveat, you will need to put a signature for the OS build, which really just means typing some sorta name in a text field when doing the export. The OS build will also be a .zip file automatically, no need to zip that one yourself.
That was honestly a lot more fun than I expected, it felt very fluid and killing multiple crabs at once had very good feedback. Great job!
That was classic, had a blast playing your game. The minimap helps a lot and just when I thought all hope was lost, I got a firing upgrade. Love the game and overall tone.

MMMMMMMMMMM crab :)
Fun little shooter game. It was satisfying to line up several enemies to kill in one shot. I like how the arena resets in size after each wave to give a pacing break. Though I think the waves could have been shorter so the player can get upgrades more often.
The overhead minimap was a nice touch. I think our game could have used that. I also like how the enemies fall apart into little physics objects on death.
Qol note: Let the player hold down left-click to fire continuously.
High score: 43300

For a compo game this is really impressive! I didn't expect to see any FPS games in here... My only complaint is that it felt like my actual hitbox didn't match where my camera was at some points. The crabs would attack something far away from me and push me around without actually touching where my camera is.
Going into this I was wondering what kind of shovelware I was about to play, and then I instantly loved the game. The feel of running around and shooting the enemies felt great, music was going hard, and the crabs snapping their claws at me had me going.
The idea of making a game where the play space reduces was one of my first ideas, glad someone managed to make it work.
A little tip to improve the feel of the game further would be to buffer the shoot input. Since you have to click on time with the recovery, you sometimes press a bit too early, so buffering the input a tiny bit (maybe 100ms) would make you shoot anyway even if you clicked too early.
My first try I scored 50200!

@instanttrain The vertical aim actually does come into play if you make it to a score of 26,000. You get a jump upgrade there, which lets you jump high enough to avoid getting hit. Definitely agree on the variety aspect with weapons & enemies. Had 'em on the todo list, but I had to squash some bugs as best I could and get a proper menu system in there.

@seam00se I think I know the cause of that hurtbox thing. I believe it's a bug with my interpolation code that happens sometimes. I think I only saw it once when I was playtesting on the final day and wasn't sure if I'd fixed it. I'll definitely squash that one if this game sees more development, thanks for letting me know!
@dovodx after your great feedback, I came here and just noticed u made this game in Godot. But no linux build ? when there is no linux build when using Godot, somewhere in the world the penguin dies  :penguin: I love to test and play your game as a fellow dev. Would love a build for linux aswell. Thanks.

@smiley405 Just uploaded a linux build! I don't have a linux install to test it on, so big apologies if it doesn't work. Also tried a web build, but it didn't run. Fingers crossed linux works.
@dovodx finally, thank you for the linux build. And it runs smoothly without any issue :penguin: :v: . The music fits the game perfectly and loved the vibe of the game. My highest score was 850 so far  and enjoyed playing it. would love to have the camera zoom-out a bit in a third person view when pressing back while coming in contact with the enemy. oh and the enemy radar was a super addition to the game. well done.
Aw yeah, reached max level:

Thanks for including mouse sensitivity settings! I enjoyed the ability to destroy vast swathes of robocrabs with my shotgun blasts, seemingly dealing more damage the more of them I hit at once. I also enjoyed the claw-snapping animation and sound effect: very charming. I would have liked to see some incentive to vary my strategy away from the obvious "run in a circle" maneuver. The powerups were cool, with the ebb and flow of the arena radius, but I think each phase could stand to be significantly shorter. I also would have appreciated if the enemy spawn rate was in part determined by the player's performance: killing crabs faster means faster crab spawn means faster powerups...
Very nice first jam entry. :)

That was a pretty good experience. Had to adjust my mouse sensitivity at first. Loved the crab bots, big fan. Had to found a groove and got into it. The music was a vibe! As a big FPS fan, I highly recommend!
Shooting the crabs is very satisfying! I really like the crunchy sound effect and the way they disassemble with the antennae becoming dark. With the default gun being a shotgun, I would really like some more feedback on multi-kills. It would be nice to have more feedback on the player being hit. I always like screen shake or color separation. Very well done!

Turns out I misread the rules at first and didn't realize that I could fix bugs after the deadline and not just during the submission hour lol. The bug with the camera desyncing from the player's position has been fixed!

shooting is super satisfying! immediately understandable and nice amount of challenge! some kind of combo mechanic might have elevated it even more! overall great entry!
Great relentless wave shooter. Graphics and music were great.
Shotgun felt great to fire I think due to the chunky sound effects and the fact it melted the crabs.
Liked how tense it got when the arena shrunk, then the relief when getting a power up and it opened back up again.

What a fun game! I really liked the aesthetic and wasn't expecting level ups and such an instance experience at the end. Big fan, I'll have to come back to it before the end of the P&R to try and get a high score.

I like this game, it was more funny than I expected. GG!
What. This is way better than it had any right to be. Super duper fun, gun felt great, first playthrough I had the default mouse sensitivity which was terrible but second time I set it to something sane and had even more fun! The music is choice, the mood perfect, what a good time. Thank you for putting this together. Excellent.
