LD42 — Running out of space

Writespace by blinry 2018-08-17T08:12:50Z

Very, very clever. Great level design, especially in the last level. Took me a good five minutes to architect a solution -- something that can only be said for the rare LD game. The presentation is a little plain, but the gem of an idea shines through. Thanks for the reco, @mike-inprinciple!

Snakescape by krasse 2018-08-14T07:28:34Z

Reminiscent of Snakebird, but the special tiles add a nice twist. Good job, y'all!

Escape from The Alliance by Jimbly 2018-08-14T08:05:41Z

I win! Saved 140 refugees... so why can't I help but dwell on all the ones I left stranded?!

It was certainly fun enough to play through the whole thing, but a couple thoughts I had: - I beat every encounter with the same strategy: swap between shields, use the other two power for both weapons unless I need O2, in which case I powered a weapon and life support. Swap weapons when necessary. The encounters didn't seem to get much harder. - I like the idea of ditching equipment for refugees, and it fits the theme, but it ultimately means that I'm making fewer interesting decisions as the game goes on. When I strip my ship down to the bare essentials, I'm just doing my one strategy over and over again. - More enemy types would have been cool. I bet you could think of a bunch of interesting effects for them.

Nice work!

Mismatch by Certainly Canyon 2018-08-14T04:17:44Z

Having a bit of trouble with the balance on this one... also, sometimes the game stops drawing after I fire into an empty column, and eventually I hear the failure sound and it moves on.

Deck Adventure by Le Slo 2018-08-15T05:44:21Z

Cool idea! It reminded me more of checkers than of cards... would be interesting to see that leaned into a little more. Good interpretation of the theme.

Keeper of Balance by Cosmic Adventure Squad 2018-08-17T10:21:47Z

I won! I guess I lasted long enough that the population meter just [disappeared?](https://i.imgur.com/vz5uFDS.png)

Gunning Out Of Space by ytaha 2018-08-14T08:19:31Z

33,468! Beat that, suckers!

I'm surprised to see so few games like this. People were posting about stuff like this after the theme was announced, but I guess they didn't have the skills to execute that you do! Very fun and smooth feeling... not a compliment I could pay most LD games. I really like how the end sneaks up on you. Would have liked to see more enemy types, since the most surprising aspect to me was how fun it was remembering to shoot the normal enemies three times and the armored ones five. Turns out, it really matters in this game! Special shoutout to the shrink powerup... clutch.

One Billboard Outside Of Catville by Team Catwheel 2018-08-14T09:07:18Z

Whooooa, look at this thing! As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to play it. Love the look, love the humor, and a great idea for gameplay! Bonuses for synergistic adjacent posters is genius. And the theme, my god! Theme dream! If I had to nitpick -- and I don't, but I will -- I think it could have been more fun and frantic if it wasn't broken up into days, but was just a constant stream of posters.

Shrinking Dungeon by DutssZ 2018-08-14T01:26:48Z

Fourth'd.

Spider tank by Blight Radiance 2018-08-13T20:03:09Z

They're miniature Through the Breach puzzles! A good fit for the theme.

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-08-14T06:20:01Z

@mike-inprinciple I'm honored you came back for another shot! I could see how that's confusing... the game could benefit from an actual tutorial.

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-08-14T07:17:25Z

@squirmonkey Oh, the plans I had! Randomized cover textures, font effects, flourishes, author names, stuff going on in the background... now that I have more Unity experience, I hope I can get more polish into the next one.

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-08-14T08:59:37Z

@le-slo That's the risk I run when I keep making word games... I hope you were able to enjoy it anyway. I'm not very good at it either. :)

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-08-14T09:10:04Z

@m8rix The game is programmed to only accept brilliant anagrams. There must be something to it...

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-08-14T09:38:39Z

@petra Note to self: make a more international-friendly game in December...

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-08-15T03:37:13Z

@ossi: Thanks so much! Book buddies unite!

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-08-15T20:18:50Z

@lucien-catonnet That's a good idea, allowing some extra letters at the end in exchange for points. I struggle with the game myself, and clearly I underestimated the number of non-native speakers that would be playing. My game design instincts don't tend towards leniency, but a little could have gone a long way here. Lesson learned!

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-08-17T02:01:29Z

@mike-inprinciple And that's a solid score! My best is somewhere around 250.

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-08-18T19:17:59Z

@samh Great ones! “Verrine” is missing from the Scrabble dictionary; I should have used a union of several dictionaries. Another lesson learned... although I’m gonna try to not make another word game next time, since I did last time as well.

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-09-04T01:03:41Z

@rosypenguin Thanks! I'm planning on releasing a post-jam version with that addition, along with some others.

Slow Access Memory by Odin 2018-08-14T09:21:33Z

A very cute idea even on its own, and I really appreciate it in context of the theme. Just wish there were a little more to it! Love the look of the level, as well.

Bob's Budget Bomb Disposal by Dark Roast Studios 2018-08-14T08:28:26Z

While simple, the controls were surprisingly fun! I'd tool around in a more complete version of this.

JUNKYARD by NOTBADGUN 2018-08-14T08:32:43Z

Fun, but it would have been cool if you were digging deeper to find the hard drive! I suppose then it might not fit the theme... ah well.

Book Crook! by Ossi 2018-08-14T07:32:58Z

I thought I was the only one who made a book game! Luckily, you can never have too much room for books.

Penguin Voyage by guladam 2018-08-13T19:43:21Z

Polished to a shiny, hard finish! Best I could do was about five jumps. It would be cool if I could see an additional planet ahead, so I could compute even more brilliant trajectories (i.e. die even sooner).

Electric Fence - Micro B by Capital-Asterisk 2018-08-14T02:44:31Z

Fun! The simple change of shooting sideways added a surprising amount.

One Man's Trash by mike_inPrinciple 2018-08-13T19:58:41Z

The first game in this or the last LD that made me laugh! The sound effects are great, but what no one's talking about is how fun it is to blow junk around with right click. Risk, reward... great mechanic!

Claustrophobia by ngUpsiLoN 2018-08-13T19:51:32Z

Definitely enjoyed the megalazor. I wonder if it would be possible to live forever by building a thick cocoon of corpses...

Node10 by timothyz 2018-08-14T01:59:00Z

Hey, did you take the game down? The link's not working.

A Bar In Space by Fluffy_Kaeloky 2018-08-14T08:36:53Z

Love the art! :D

Geometry Merge by M8rix 2018-08-13T20:51:31Z

Like others, I was also able to reach an arbitrarily high score and step count. Understandable -- I didn't spend much time tweaking the balance of my game either! I was really surprised by how fun the core mechanic was, and how long I kept playing. If you added more variety, maybe blocks that do different things, this could be built out into a full game. Perfect simplicity.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Arden's Artisan Artefacts by blinry 2018-12-05T07:33:59Z

Really enjoyed Writespace last time so I figured I'd see what y'all were up to this time, and I wasn't disappointed! Quite unique.

F.O.U.R. by Ava Skoog 2018-12-07T09:46:59Z

Cute, very specifically reminded me of old Flash adventure games. In a good way!

Blót by SalamiChild 2018-12-07T09:44:56Z

Great look and fun combat. Pretty tough stuff, only managed a score of 5...

Metamorphosis by silkworm_sweatshop 2018-12-06T08:56:30Z

Cool level design. I liked the animations, too, and the presence of an actual ending!

Night of the BloodMoon by erebus 2018-12-05T08:02:14Z

I always appreciate the rare LD game that's actually difficult. The combat, simple as it was, was surprisingly fun! Gotta always be on the other side of the enemy, which is pretty fun to time.

HEALTH SHOT by TheSomeoneXD 2018-12-05T08:23:14Z

Awesome! I had some issues, as Cole did, trying to shoot past my enemies' bullets and just not being able to connect. On the other hand, it created some cool moments where I was weaving through enemy fire, ducking behind walls and popping out to shoot. The controls were a little awkward: everything on the left hand, making it especially different to control the direction of fire.

It also looks quite pretty and stylish. :)

Voxel Leper by BumDag 2018-12-07T09:57:59Z

I also especially liked the last level. Feels like there's potential for lots of cool mechanics like that!

The Exchange by caeonosphere 2018-12-05T08:10:42Z

@binarylynx Thanks — I spent way too much time tweaking the lightning and look of the cards. Glad it was worth something!

@gnarly-narwhal Wow, I didn't expect to hear that... obviously I hoped people would like the story, but I had so little time to write it that I didn't even proofread 90% of what I wrote. Maybe I'll continue it after all!

The Exchange by caeonosphere 2018-12-05T08:20:07Z

@erasmus-crowley Re: the criticism... totally agree. A funny thing about playtesting a narrative game that you wrote, I just realized, is that you don't actually end up reading through the story, you kinda just click through it. I don't have a good sense of what it's like to read the text for the first time, trying to comprehend it. Definitely should have thought through that a little more.

Re: the rest... thank you very much. :)

EDIT: I suspect scrolling down to the new text instead of having it suddenly appear would let the eye see more naturally where it begins... will be overhauling the UI if I end up continuing this. Thanks for the thoughtful critique!

The Exchange by caeonosphere 2018-12-06T09:21:50Z

@blodyavenger Good ideas. I could go even further than your colored text idea and use a more "gamey" dialogue-box system. I think I overconstrained myself by only using paragraphs of prose. And yeah, I should work on my audio skills more so I can get proper sound in next time.

@mrwillowb @akuirako @tolga @vernon Thanks!

The Exchange by caeonosphere 2018-12-07T07:29:06Z

@christina-antoinette-neofotistou Thank you, thank you! I feel like LD is really helping with my rapid prototyping skills -- no way would I have had time for the scripting language a year ago. I would have hardcoded everything and it would have been a total mess. Now I actually feel like I could keep working on this.

@hempuli Funny you mention Cultist Simulator: I've only ever seen screenshots of it, never played it or watched gameplay, though I feel like I kind of know how it works... and the whole time I was working on this, I was paranoid that I was somehow copying it! Glad to hear my game didn't end up as an inadvertent clone. I'll say that I was inspired by my uninformed conception of Cultist Simulator.

@bumdag @nearpit @esosek @silkworm-sweatshop Thanks! I was so disappointed at the end of the 48 hours because I hadn't gotten the story to a good stopping point, and I considered not even submitting it! The kind words are making me really glad I did.

The Exchange by caeonosphere 2018-12-08T07:12:37Z

@selkkie My plan, if I pick this up again, is to add a limited rewind feature to facilitate more experimentation. I was also thinking of maybe writing super short blurbs for each item to display when you're deciding which to sacrifice, which would give some idea of what the character plans to do with it. Would that have made you experiment less, do you think?

@chao I did! It took 6-7 of my 48 hours, and was about 7,000 words in all. You can see them in the script files [here.](https://github.com/thquinn/Exchange/tree/master/Assets/Resources/Pages) I agree that, especially as the game goes on, it would become super onerous to have unique text for each possible item... but that's part of the appeal! I could employ some tricks to guarantee that certain items can't stick around for too long, maybe. I'd have to lay out the final outline and do a count before I'd know how bad it would be.

@fishbrain @dwam Thanks for playing!

The Exchange by caeonosphere 2018-12-10T06:27:30Z

@blinry What an honor! You guys do really great work. If I continue, I'll make sure you hear about it.

I like the graphics! They look like a pleasant bunch of ladies and gents.

Total Party Kill by adventureislands 2018-12-05T09:39:54Z

Wow, a really impressive and thematic game. Finished it without thinking of stopping. How the hell do people find time for level design?!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Signal by HitchH1k3r 2019-05-12T02:40:29Z

Really great all around, no part of it was lacking. I also found the technique to bounce arbitrarily high on the purple jelly, letting me skip a section of the game.

Mint by nopogo 2019-05-03T10:55:46Z

Cool atmosphere, and I liked all the effects and animations for the stages of crafting. A great alternative approach to a super restrictive theme. Nice work!

Mr Moneybag by managore 2019-05-04T08:40:54Z

Very cool! I'm quite partial to this "everything is upgradeable" approach to game design, as evidenced by my own game. Cute, functional graphics, too!

Dr. Ectomy by BoxedMeatRevolution 2019-05-02T10:55:38Z

Cool twist on a grid-based puzzle. It took me a while to figure out how organs fall through the top layer into the bottom, but enjoyed the puzzles once I wrapped my brain around it.

Artvertising: The Battle of the Dollar Stores! by Mocadium 2019-05-02T10:46:29Z

I can also guarantee it's beatable. That big coin never stood a chance...

I really liked the art! The background especially; I wish there were more arenas!

It's just so beautiful. Wow. A pleasure for the senses.

Bank Burner by repine 2019-05-01T08:51:58Z

I beat it too! A simple game with nice mechanics.

The Vampire's Prisoner by Tuhlienn 2019-05-02T10:36:20Z

Cool art! I liked the animation and the look of the environment quite a bit.

Robo Portrait by finalspace 2019-05-04T04:26:25Z

Neat! I liked the core idea quite a bit, and agree with others that with more faces and a little more polish it could be even better.

Rashness by Saering 2019-05-01T07:53:52Z

Augh, my clicking finger! I won, but at what cost?! D:

A straightforward and effective take on the theme. Nice work on your first compo entry!

Curfe by Kajetan Andrzejak 2019-05-01T10:37:08Z

Surprisingly fun for something so simple! I don't think I could play an hour of this, but it was an enjoyable few minutes.

MeltUP by caeonosphere 2019-05-01T08:40:25Z

@zarkonnen Ah, that's good to know. I'll keep it in mind for future games; you realistically only need the Z key in this one, as the special abilities are pretty rare.

MeltUP by caeonosphere 2019-05-01T09:44:01Z

Uploaded a new version that's hopefully a little more balanced.

MeltUP by caeonosphere 2019-05-02T12:00:05Z

@enigma @kuro @mekyi Thanks for the feedback. I just put up a third version with tweaked physics and some balance improvements... but it's not likely to change your minds about how the controls feel. I modeled the platforming a little bit after the game "N," which is floaty, has a character that's hard to steer in midair, and is quite difficult. It seems like my inexperience at making platformers meant that I didn't do a great job. The only person available for hands-on testing was me, and by some fluke, I'm pretty good at the game. :)

MeltUP by caeonosphere 2019-05-15T01:49:58Z

@pixelmeal Ha! Yeah. Some tough lessons were learned this jam. And hey, thanks for the kind words! My confidence in my non-programming skills has never been higher.

Chesty the Treasure by Lord9000 2019-05-02T10:29:12Z

I won! Enjoyed the cute animations and music.

Sheep It by anstabo 2019-05-02T09:04:16Z

Super cute, up until the Godzilla roar! o_o

This was the complete package for me: fun graphics and animation (especially the idle), soothing sound, and surprisingly interesting gameplay. It's not just about throwing sheep into a truck!

Bloom by Fadex 2019-05-03T00:40:59Z

Love the graphics and music, and how the controls change as you progress. I agree that the tree spamming is maybe a little too hard; I barely got through it and I am a *very* experienced spammer. :)

Arrow of Light by sylvie 2019-05-07T07:14:38Z

I really liked it! The bow mechanics were satisfying. I will say that the theme felt a little unfulfilled, since the life tollgates all had infinitely respawning flowers before and after them. I didn't feel like I was risking much by paying the toll.

But the gameplay worked great. Nice work!

Noobmancer by IanLux 2019-05-13T06:05:42Z

Cool! Haven't seen a 3D platformer this fully realized in an LD before. Other people have mentioned the camera, so I don't have to... I would have played more levels!

Annabelle & Annabelle Otherworldly Meats by snowdozer 2019-05-12T04:21:53Z

Cool, cool, cool! I like the mechanics: getting slower the more you carry, being careful not to shoot corpses. Also enjoyed the art style quite a bit, and the contrast between the cozy home and the underworld with its hard-hitting music. If I had one wish, it'd be not having to spam click to get up to the max fire rate. My poor finger! D:

Danko by Pixel_Error 2019-05-01T08:58:23Z

Loved the enemy art. Interesting tradeoffs for the powerups, too!

Undercave by NoobException 2019-04-29T20:55:02Z

I found the exit, but it was locked? And then I jumped to the right and off the side of the game world.

Reminded me of Rain World!

Blood and goods by selewi 2019-05-04T00:10:15Z

Reached 15, at which point I got one-shot for 18 HP by a brute spider. Cool concept and graphics, if a little repetitive.

Stargem by Rheel 2019-04-29T20:20:25Z

Missing some DLLs for me: libgcc_s_seh-1.dll, libwinpthread-1.dll.

Stargem by Rheel 2019-04-29T20:42:39Z

Works now. I like the music! :D

Shroom Bois by Torculus 2019-05-12T04:13:35Z

It's not often you see an LD game with such nice lighting! Nice and moody.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Più, a bird song by Ekilibr 2020-04-23T19:56:33Z

Like other folks, I liked the controls, the graphics, and the sounds... but was a little disappointed to discover that it's ultimately all about going through damage zones and having to retrace your steps if you fail. It's a straightforward and punishing end to a beautiful means! Would definitely play another take on this.

Wildfire by dankar 2020-04-26T00:17:16Z

I had trouble understanding the use of more than 3 action points: if you're only allowed to move once per turn, what can the 4th AP do for you?

Cool minimalist art style and a nice concept for the theme!

Flower Power by jharler 2020-04-25T06:48:06Z

Can't say I've ever seen facial animation in a LD game before! And that run cycle, wow. *chef kiss*

The Living Blob by dob 2020-04-24T02:33:36Z

Fun puzzle, would have enjoyed some kind of endless mode for high scoring!

Trizzy Bee by niborious 2020-04-23T08:50:42Z

What a spiffy tree I made! I dig the look, and it was fun floating around — I wish I got to do it a little more! The wonky camera/controls reminded me of a Sega CD game, something like that. Nice work!

ADRENA-LINE by managore 2020-04-23T08:57:18Z

Fun! I did see some very similar looking puzzles, and it's sometimes possible to get stuck if you make a boneheaded move. Simple and sweet. Better than I could do in 15 dang hours, that's for sure...

Alien creature from space! by Runuchok 2020-04-23T08:28:18Z

I won! Tanks OP, but Hives even more OP. I liked this twist on tower defense, growing out from a central location and keeping all sides defended. Nice work!

Flour Baby by kiguel182 2020-04-25T06:45:01Z

Clever idea for the theme! Those damn kids run around like their hair is on fire... managed to win with 60 flour left in the bag. I certainly appreciated the changes in scenery; some sound could have really completed the scene!

Feed Me by lexi 2020-04-22T06:26:04Z

Ha! Cute and short. The abrupt intro of "I'm going to prison" made me laugh. (By the way, it looks like a whole bunch of us thought of the same name, huh? :D)

Morose by 100th_Coin 2020-04-25T07:04:28Z

Lots of cool ideas, here. And a whole story, wow! It took quite a bit of time to build all the blueprints I was given; I liked the open-ended goals like "make a loop" a lot more. The puzzle combat was simple, but I could see both parts of the game getting fleshed out a lot more. A very productive 48 hours!

- L I F E G R O W T H - by Samusoidal 2020-05-01T07:52:38Z

I almost gave up when I couldn't figure out how to change tools, but I'm glad I stuck it out! A fun, encapsulated little experience.

Uproot by Madgvox 2020-04-23T20:13:47Z

Fun idea for the "mobile home," but could use some balancing tweaks: right now you can pretty much live forever by picking up your tree and walking in circles around the perimeter of the map. Maybe you should get tired from carrying this huge thing for long periods of time?

GhostVac by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2020-05-03T08:55:41Z

Fun! Really liked the arcade presentation: it feels like it could be a real arcade machine. And that LED screen has so much character. I had a hard time hitting those side doors, but I got enough better at it eventually to beat the boss on my third try. Luck may have had something to do with it.

HENCHLINGS by Rohun 2020-04-23T09:16:52Z

Day 20! It feels like you really couldn't make it much farther than that. A pretty simple strategy, in the end, but I enjoyed watching my little mans run around!

PostCat by Number6406 2020-04-22T03:39:26Z

Yeah, I too had trouble with the second level. You gotta place that yarn and spring so fast! The rest of the level isn't bad, except you can avoid spending resources if you're tricky.

I also ran into a bug where I restarted the second level too much times, which caused a message bubble from the previous level to pop up somehow, and I couldn't dismiss it? Very strange. Then I had to go back to the home screen and it hadn't saved my progress. :|

Anyway, I did like the twist on platforming! It had an Incredible Machine feel to it.

We both made games where you lead hapless critters around, and I like your take! Cute sounds and graphics.

Boggle Battle by clue 2020-04-24T00:26:56Z

Yeah, looks like it's dead... @ mention me when it's back up and I'll try it out with a friend!

Keep the Beet Alive by Tad 2020-04-21T04:21:10Z

I found myself wishing for a bit of a louder beat in the music! The claps and missing low end seem a bit at odds with the visuals, IMO. But yes, the art is very nice, and I did win! The difficulty is nicely balanced.

Tower Defence of the Heart by terry 2020-04-23T21:36:41Z

I have achieved a total defense of the heart. I did enjoy the frantic moments where I had to sell all my lasers to beat a boss down. A nice encapsulation of the genre with a fun soundtrack!

Crater Critters by Jimanzium 2020-04-23T08:41:27Z

The critters are free! The difficulty was just fine for me. I've learned it again and again: better too easy than too hard. And yet the lesson still hasn't totally stuck...

MandaTrouble by mineiwik 2020-04-23T20:41:12Z

That yellowish creature, he sure does like to roam... A cool idea, and I like the single-colored enemy sprites. Stylish. Reserved. C'est magnifique. I guess maybe you got them from somewhere, since you disabled the Graphics rating?

🍄 Saki 🍄 by Darkfire92 2020-04-21T04:05:56Z

Liked the art and camera/control scheme a lot, very unique. It was pretty easy, it was hard to tell if there was any way to make progress when my firewood supply was full. Would have appreciated something to do in those times, although I did see that the enemies started getting harder.

Broadcast Bandits by zoarfy 2020-04-26T00:12:45Z

Fun idea, I liked the card-flipping-as-movement animation and the overall ~aesthetic~. I had a little trouble with the cards: as far as I could tell, Move Left, Move Right and HIT THE GAS both had me ending up two spaces ahead of where I started, although the between-turns transition might have been tricking me.

Wordbound by SpaceGuy99 2020-04-22T06:08:30Z

I do like the idea, but I wish it had a little more structure! That and a longer word list... I understand the desire to have art accompanying the words, but in a typing game I think that's a pretty lofty goal. I had fun typing my story, and forcing myself to make it make sense.

Final Flower: Petals of a Lost Age by Scott Steffes 2020-04-23T08:19:36Z

I beat it, and even managed to snatch the Level 9 record away from the dastardly OGRE BEE! This was great! I played it for like 20 minutes. I haven't played all that many games yet, but this was easily the most complete and polished of those I have. A fun idea well executed. I wish the wall physics were a little less... scrapey... but I know how hard that stuff can be.

Well done!

Feed Me! by caeonosphere 2020-04-21T06:31:31Z

Thanks for the kind words, folks!

@vano Yeah, I'm still figuring out how to make decent platforming controls. Were you far away from your friend when he wasn't moving? He also stops whenever he can't see you. It could be that I didn't get the line of sight quite right.

@niborious You know what, I'll put a WebGL build up tonight. I usually prefer to download games, but why not let people play how they want?

@baconeta He survives for three minutes without food — I wanted to make sure that even people without much FPS experience got a chance to walk around a bit. I could score based on the number of fruit he eats, I guess, but the time seems a better measure of "keep it alive." Got any ideas?

Feed Me! by caeonosphere 2020-04-22T23:48:13Z

@scott-steffes Good suggestions, both. I'm glad you find it tasteful! I think my lack of confidence in my art forces me towards minimalism, which is really the sweet spot for the compo. I would have loved some extra time to add just a little detail and variety to the environment, though...

And I put your game on my to-rate list. :)

Feed Me! by caeonosphere 2020-04-24T04:59:44Z

@williamcarter Good suggestions, added 'em both to the list.

@twobitadder I'm surprised to hear this from multiple people! The dude follows you as long as you're 1) within a certain radius, 2) he has line of sight to you, and 3) there isn't a fruit that he wants right next to him. I'm starting to think I've got a bug... were you seeing him stop following you randomly, move erratically, etc?

Feed Me! by caeonosphere 2020-04-25T07:19:18Z

@blobo Hey, thanks! An art compliment means a lot coming from you. Just played your game, and I'd kill to have art that good in mine.

Feed Me! by caeonosphere 2020-04-26T00:07:16Z

@zoarfy Agreed on both counts. He *does* actually make some very quiet eating sounds that get completely blown out by the music. With a little more time I was hoping to give him a couple extra fun behaviors: reaction to being given the wrong fruit, doing a little eating dance, that kind of thing. And yeah, the controls... I'm learning how to tune platforming physics, but it's a slow process.

Feed Me! by caeonosphere 2020-04-26T18:52:15Z

@number6406 It is generated randomly, in a radius around you as you walk. It cycles between the three fruit colors whenever it places one, so there *should* always be one of each color somewhat nearby, but the layout doesn't always let you get to it easily. What kind of clues did you have in mind?

Feed Me! by caeonosphere 2020-04-26T20:20:28Z

@number6406 Good idea!

BEARable apples by FlyingKiwi 2020-04-23T08:33:20Z

Catchin' raindrops is hard work! Cute game... where does that fertilizer come from...?

Exosphere by M8rix 2020-04-22T06:20:35Z

4537m, so close! You know, I still think about Geometry Merge every now and then. I was glad to see you back for this one!

All Systems Grow [LD46: KEEP IT ALIVE] by itsandyjones 2020-04-22T04:14:42Z

Beat it in 518 seconds! :)

Seconding the request for coyote time, and also noting that I specifically had a hard time on downward-moving platforms. Often I wouldn't be able to jump off of them the way I expected.

A nice-lookin' game, though, and I did like the interaction of the different laser polarities. Would like to see more of that.

7 Intelligence by twobitadder 2020-04-22T05:54:28Z

Beat it! The music was also driving me kinda crazy, and I found it quite easy to cheat the more complex levels by immediately killing most of the enemies and kiting the hero with the last. The possession radius could have been smaller, I think. Cool idea!

The Last Robot Archer by bernard-bumblebutt 2020-04-21T04:26:19Z

Cool twist on the twin-stick shooter! The single-stick shooter... I think I beat it, or the levels starting repeating. Anyway. I would have liked a little charging-up animation to better understand the timing of when my little robot was going to start shooting. And one thing about the nature of the levels is that they start off hard, with all the enemies on screen, and get easier as you pick them off. Kinda anti-climactic. Everything else was quite nice, though.

Spatious Inc. by Svyatoslav 2020-04-21T04:12:38Z

I was confused, I gotta admit! I read all the isntructions, but still couldn't figure out which tiles in which states contributed to factors like pollution. Really great art style. Love the clear Into the Breach influences. :)

Kombo Krusader by kankje 2020-04-23T21:41:47Z

Definite Wizard of Legend vibes... a fun encapsulation of that kind of play, broken down and made even more frantic. Nice work!

Dead Spirit by Snowirbis 2020-04-23T21:19:58Z

I will happily give a rating to someone brave enough to scold a feed spammer! :D

A very nice environment, and some effective parallax. The music was sparse, but I liked it anyway. I agree with another commenter that the mid-air controls are a little strange, but I did enjoy beating up that giant bat. Nice work!

Garbage Cat by Matthew Bond 2020-04-23T07:34:08Z

Made it to naptime! Reminds me of those classic Flash games that I used to play in middle school...

CrossWalk by WilliamCarter 2020-04-23T07:44:32Z

Hmmm... whenever I start the game, several buildings are intersecting and the physics is freaking out... and the little man is nowhere to be found! I like the concept of protecting a pedestrian... now where's that dude at?

EDIT: Alright, I was able to play the HTML5 version. Looks like the Windows build is old? You should also have a changelog so people know what you did before and after the deadline!

current by zzox 2020-04-22T07:27:16Z

Beat it! I'm always impressed with compo entries that find time for actual level design. Definite shades of Baba, but I like the move restriction. Would have been cool to see some levels that required you to electrocute piranhas, or to make gigantic lines of pipes that you push all at once. Nicely done!

How to Air by kwaku 2020-04-22T05:29:50Z

Aw, I couldn't quite finish the game! Had all but one element, and maybe I had to get the dude to give me his strange rock? Couldn't figure out how. Love the circular world!

Bankruptcy Countdown by Martin183 2020-04-21T03:58:47Z

Great work! I would have liked a fullscreen option: it was stuck in windowed mode for me, kinda hard to see. And more immediate feedback when you put a box into a truck would have been nice to have. Fun music!

Super Survival Ball by Quinn_Patrick 2020-04-30T05:23:33Z

Third place! I'll take it!

Surprisingly fun. I wonder if my IRL juggling skills helped me here. I would make it a little quicker to lose: it's pretty easy to chill with a single ball and let all the others die until your paddle shrinks to nothing. Not that you'd get many points that way... but maybe your paddle should shrink even faster when you're running that strategy, just to put the person out of their misery.

Chicken Guide Simulator 3000 by flod 2020-04-23T20:59:46Z

Well I thought it was hard! Very cute. I'm glad I'm not the only one who made a game about whistling at a cute little animal to coax them through swinging blades.

Save Ivee by Furfel 2020-04-23T20:23:40Z

What a strange game... I like the color mixing idea, but I found it pretty inconsistent in terms of getting the results I expected. The controls, as folks have mentioned, are extremely wonky. But I do like that it's not just another reimplementation of an existing game. It's a new genre! I look forward to checking out your LD47 entry. :)

Yobuds by noahnewline 2020-04-22T06:01:10Z

I got 33500! I enjoyed the moments of panic when my population was low and I had to scramble to refill, and the tension between high population with minimal dodging ability, to the mobility you get when you don't have a million dudes to worry about.

I would have liked some reason to stop holding down the space bar! As it is, I just hold it the whole game to no detriment. Maybe it could slow your guys while you hold it, in exchange for slowing the difficulty ramp a little?

The Harmless Prison Escape by MickGerritsen 2020-04-21T04:37:16Z

I won — and the cops go wild! I really liked the weird don't-let-the-cops-kill-each-other Sokoban kinda thing. I think with just one more mechanic, and a couple levels with larger boards, it could have felt more substantial. I also would have liked to be able to hold the movement buttons and keep going in a direction, as the animation was rather long. But the art is nice and stylish. And man, this prisoner's really got some moves!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Time Surge 2: Clean Up Time by HitchH1k3r 2020-10-07T10:06:03Z

Can't wait for Ludum Dare 67: Stuck Loop!

Looper by jk5000 2020-10-06T10:57:53Z

Very unique! If it was me, I'd just remove the timer. You are not a "LOSER." You did a "GOOD JOB."

Dante Slumbers by Jimbly 2020-10-07T09:49:03Z

It turns out that I *can* beat all 7 levels! As long as I'm allowed to hit basically every rock along the way. I did manage to get the record on the first level, though. Come get it, suckers!

A lot to like, here! I like the theme fit, I like the leaderboards being ranked by damage and then by time, I like the art, and I like the disconnect between the name and the gameplay. Someone should check on that cat, though. It sounds like something's horribly wrong with it...

BLOOP by danman9914 2020-10-07T10:01:11Z

A great idea to expand the timeline on both sides during each loop. Kept it fresher for longer, like a carton of blueberries in the fridge. I'd have done away with the second-to-last loop, though... filling out the timeline feels like it deserves a win, and then I have to do it again with no new gameplay!

ringtale by torcado 2020-10-07T10:16:11Z

It looks like I gave up where some other folks did. It's a fun game, and clever, but it does get quite hard quite quickly. From no spikes at all, to many spikes, to walls covered in spikes within two checkpoints! A fullscreen mode would also have been appreciated, since my cursor kept leaving the bounds of the game and killing me.

That Time I Was Held Hostage By Some Loop, So I Followed The Road And I Was Fine by alaah 2020-10-06T12:41:17Z

It just closes at the end? What a rip! :D

I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected, I gotta say! I unironically enjoyed the VO; maybe I'll have to include some next time... I have been inspired.

loops by irwatts 2020-10-07T06:44:18Z

After I left, though I tried and tried, I could not get back to the comforting bosom of the cereal bowl. Why must the young fruit loop leave its nest?

This had a unique look that I appreciated, and I also appreciated the nontraditional controls, though I would have appreciated if they were more stable: lower overall acceleration, and maybe some soft speed limits that prevent you from spinning out of control.

Ribbon by 100th_Coin 2020-10-07T05:36:31Z

Ohhhhhohoho, look at this thing! Awesome! Worth all your hard work, I think, for that first moment when you push against the cut and it starts sliding. Lots of potential, and I actually really like the controls. 2D meets 3D in a way I've never seen. More, please!

STUCK? by Constantin 2020-10-06T13:41:18Z

Super unique presentation, and a couple cool puzzles. I don't mind the twist, though I would have enjoyed a couple more puzzles before getting there. A more leading prompt than STAY WITH ME might have been good: I spent like 5 minutes in the ?? area wondering what I was doing wrong.

The Red Twins Assassination by ErikU 2020-10-06T10:47:37Z

Managed to beat both levels! I really like the idea of pulling yourself around with these two daggers; sticking into something overhead and swinging from it would be a lot of fun.

The character physics could use a little work, I think. The camera, too. Oh, and I was able to break the daggers pretty easily by spamming middle click a few times at an object just out of reach! I had to restart the level to get them back.

Nice work!

a Damsel a Day by alec 2020-10-06T13:14:21Z

22, not bad! A couple close calls in there too. Nice to see another game featuring trains and trees blowing in the breeze. :)

I think one more element to the gameplay would have gone a long way in extending the enjoyment, but it's a nice, simple game as is. Well executed across the board.

Roller Riches by dxk2294 2020-10-08T14:45:57Z

Excellent idle game! It really ups the ante to see all those bills fluttering down. Once I nut-chunked up my loops, there were no brakes on the money machine.

Thoughts: * I want a faster trains upgrade! * Holy cow, putting a bank in the middle of a roller coaster. Genius. * "Market how succulent the caviar is." This might be the first actually funny game I've played across my 6 Ludum Dares * I just love how (almost) every aspect of the roller coaster and associated scheme can be improved. The research system is excellently done. * Perfect length for rating an idle game.

Super well done all around!

Radiant Rewind by larkinia 2020-10-06T12:08:26Z

I just had to come and play; y'all are the hitmakers!

Fun idea for this one, never seen proper time mechanics in an LD game before. Felt hectic, but I liked that I could slow things down and take my time. I didn't expect that I would end up using both the rewind and the slow motion, but I definitely ended up needing each of them.

A small physics issue makes an outsized impact on the game: how collisions work when both the paddle and the ball are moving. Sometimes they slide against each other in weird ways, and sometimes they just go through each other. Can be frustrating in a game that's pretty hard to control already!

Cyclotroid by Korteh 2020-10-08T01:50:38Z

I agree with the comment above: a way to look at the map for longer than a second would be really helpful to figuring out how to align the rings. Still, I had fun shooting the little critters!

Circleline by caeonosphere 2020-10-05T16:47:02Z

I don't think I've ever gotten such nice feedback before even doing any rating myself. Thanks everyone!

@tadeas-paule Both good ideas, I'll be adding them both in the inevitable v0.2.

@eriku Nice work — I honestly didn't expect anyone to beat it! It didn't occur to me to use stable states to solve the final level, since with the alternating switches I didn't realize it would be possible.

Circleline by caeonosphere 2020-10-07T05:20:28Z

@bereg Yeah, I wasn't sure either when I started if it could be difficult at all. I went for a chill kind of game instead, but was pleasantly surprised when it was able to support a couple of challenging levels at the end.

@rngames I agree: I had a whole list of mechanics that I ran out of time before I could implement! Hopefully next LD I can get started quicker and have more time to round out my game.

@shp My last few LD entries have been confusing and/or intentionally esoteric. My intent this time was to simplify, and I'm glad it seemed to work!

@alaah I have to admit: that's a bug! Ha! A friend of mine ran into it during testing, and when he didn't accuse me of creating a broken game, I decided to leave it in. I'm happy it didn't frustrate you enough to keep you from trying again. 265 clicks is the record, as far as I know? And yeah, a little more acknowledgement of crashes would be a good idea, even if it's not a massive explosion. I'll have to work on my sound design skills...

Circleline by caeonosphere 2020-10-08T14:07:07Z

@haustgeirr Well done, better than my playthrough! :D

Circleline by caeonosphere 2020-10-10T16:36:58Z

@apandso Yeah, there's room for improvement there. TBH, I couldn't figure out what to do with the tracks within my limited artistic ability, hence the extreme minimalism.

Circleline by caeonosphere 2020-10-22T21:39:51Z

@someone Yeah, sorry about that tree. I think I even captured it in the act in one of my screenshots... looks like I'll have to add some extra checks.

@dans17 Thank you, and nicely done! That's the high (low?) score for sure.

@hybitous Slow motion would make a lot of sense, even the ability to control the speed with the mouse wheel or something. Probably with no limit, too: it's supposed to be peaceful!

Circleline by caeonosphere 2020-10-30T02:39:50Z

@superunknown [This function](https://github.com/thquinn/Circleline/blob/master/Assets/Model/Level.cs#L102) is where most of the path logic lives, but I'm not sure I'd recommend doing it quite like this.

time pressure + the knowledge that you'll never have to look at it again = not great code

Broodmother by SludgeKey 2020-10-08T15:44:09Z

I definitely like the idea of poopin' out an army from the meat you collect. I wanted those flying laser eyeballs on my team, but when I got them to shoot each other and picked up their DNA, all I was able to make were some walkin' guys? Aw, man! I was able to kill two spawners, but without the dominant species with me, I wasn't able to get the third. A little bit of progression could go a long way, I think!

Tropical Hop by shp 2020-10-07T06:25:06Z

Like some other folks, I was having some trouble with the inertia and air control: I know from some past Ludum Dares how hard that stuff can be to lock in. Appreciated the challenge, though, and I did manage to complete a lap! Although apparently I was still considered a FAILURE. Ah well.

Little Sun Road Trip by Lu7cie 2020-10-08T01:57:28Z

Fun idea! It seemed like a lot of the time, I couldn't choose which way to go with the arrows. It worked in some places, but not in others. Is that intentional? Maybe you could indicate which paths are traversable and which aren't?

Broken Dungeon by PurpledArtFrog 2020-10-08T15:09:44Z

ss.png

It would have been so easy for me to just take the 5 off the end of that screenshot... but I had to be honest.

From the first 30 seconds, I definitely didn't expect to play for so long. It looked so simple! A couple good thinkin' parts later, a couple laughs at the futility of life, and I encountered the evil me. When he told me that he was the only me, it was a challenge I could not back down from. Well done!

Phase Decay by Fluffy_Kaeloky 2020-10-07T10:33:47Z

Cool idea! I had a hard time figuring out why certain hallways were on fire during certain iterations and not others. Also funny to hear a Streamlabs voice in a game for something reason. "...should not be neglijected"? :D

Impunity by Haustgeirr 2020-10-07T06:50:55Z

You clearly have a complicated relationship with the Unity editor...

An interesting mechanic that encourages you to start new projects to stay alive, which only gives you more to do down the line. I got a 92%?

Hiccup Time by Somogy 2020-10-08T15:22:05Z

"It's all over!" A bite-sized little adventure, very cool! I really had trouble finding the yellow potion: do all of the chests with treasure in them? I felt like the one in the lower-right corner of the bottom room wasn't doing it. Anyway. Cute, short, fun!

SwingShot: Stuck in a musical loop by Pepijn 2020-10-08T14:16:24Z

Love a good rhythm game! I don't think the spikes would have been too hard for me if not for an issue I was having: even with the cursor in neutral, I was still hitting them! Is that intended? It definitely makes it a lot harder to have to push the cursor in the opposite direction to avoid them.

AUTOLOOP by Kpedatte 2020-10-08T15:29:12Z

Whoa, I just quit out and my vision is swimming from the sudden stop of all that motion. Cool! I got to the credits. It's an interesting mechanic where the game gets easier as you go. Creative. And I like the evolving music, too! A fun little experience.

JACKASTER by DS Nahogara 2020-10-08T15:34:23Z

Tough game! I think it'd be a lot more manageable if thrown objects went in the direction you wanted more reliably. Throwing stuff does seem pretty OP...

Time Prison by Tadeas Paule 2020-10-06T10:32:48Z

This had me pretty stumped, I gotta say! I also only made it to the third room. Like ol' Frogman up there, I suspect that your restart doesn't reset the state of everything: I found myself launching the game again and again to get it to work.

I like the circular areas, though, and that guard puzzle is a fun idea!

Loopedy Island by Douwe_Ravers 2020-10-07T05:29:38Z

I finally managed to get around the loop with a score of 1068! The turning has a very strange non-linear feel to it, where you're barely turning at all for the first half second and then you're suddenly turning 5 degrees every frame, and high speeds only seem to exacerbate the issue. I found that slow and steady was the way to go. Also the cars on the far side of the island were hovering ten feet over the road...?

I had considered trying to make a racing game, but figured it would be too hard. Way to take on the challenge!

Duck In A Loop by Matt Lewis 2020-10-08T14:19:43Z

Yup, I wound up upside down too! If the ducks in the IRL carnival game ever figure that strategy out, we're all done for...

The Loop Collection by Geegaz 2020-10-06T11:04:44Z

Fun fun! I liked the twist that the target added to the Pong minigame, and fanning the boat to create wind was a surprisingly intuitive control system. Maybe track the highscores of each game separately, and display the sum somewhere to encourage people to shore up their weaker scores?

Stranger by Julius Vander Arend 2020-10-06T12:19:13Z

Pretty intense lighting on this one! I liked the look, but had a few bugs:

Maybe I just wasn't getting feedback, but right mouse to attack didn't seem to have any effect for me.

One of the moving walls, which must have been towards the end, I wasn't able to shoot a portal through it even when it was open. Those walls were also moving in a very jerky manner: is that intentional?

Nice work! A new experience for me in terms of LD submissions.

Age of Amperes by JHax 2020-10-18T15:17:57Z

Managed to beat all the levels. Some very cool ideas in there, and... pretty strikingly similar to my game, eh? Might steal some mechanics from y'all one day. :)

Protogonus by RNGames 2020-10-07T06:17:37Z

Interesting! I think with a unified cellular-automata-style rule in place of the wind mechanic, it could be a fun game of predicting and hemming in an unpredictable pattern. A worthy experiment as is.

Frying Donut by fachscahfttf 2020-10-08T02:33:13Z

Unique! I found that the best way to deal with the enemies was to just scoot on by them and let the laser sort them out. The weapons didn't feel particularly useful. Still some fun to be had.

Fleder Flopin by Diefleder 2020-10-06T12:59:58Z

Note before playing: I enjoyed the name so much that I just had to play it. Let's see how it goes...

Damn, that music is fuckin' GROOVIN', man! Oowee! I could listen to that for like 30 minutes straight. So the whole level fills up with balls after a couple laps, is that what was going on? Easily the best 3D platformer I've played in my 6 Ludum Dares so far, which isn't saying a *ton*, but I had a good bit of fun! Nice work!

Survive the Temple by Duckonaut 2020-10-06T10:52:06Z

Only managed to make it to wave 8 a couple times. Interesting ideas, altogether: I like the dash attack and the disappearing numbers. Makes it into a fun little action/memory hybrid, very cool. I do wish there was a little more to it, though! I bet you could add a few bits and bobs and it would be a very satisfying little game.

Transit by GammaRomeo 2020-10-08T01:36:09Z

I like how the train bulges as it fills with passengers. Very cute!

Commuter by Aran Ink 2020-10-06T11:55:17Z

It's the rare LD submission that includes a level editor! I liked the interpretation of the theme, even if I couldn't get those dang spikes to work. The wind powers were fun as well.

In The Loop by Luc-creationallabs 2020-10-08T17:07:16Z

Got to the end! You are welcome for playing your little game. The physics work just how you expect them to, which is satisfying. Must have taken some iteration. I think one more mechanic would have hit that sweet spot, but I know how quick those hours tick down. Same thing happened to me this compo! You did a great job of polishing the core mechanic. Nice work!

While we are here - stuck in a loop by Seskon 2020-10-06T12:48:31Z

I played through the first ten or so! A great starting point, I agree with the above commenter that counting characters isn't all that fun. You could probably get many of the same ideas and mechanics across with shorter strings.

A fun idea, all in all. Reminds me of this [insanely obscure and interesting Japanese indie game](http://abagames.sakura.ne.jp/16/consomaton/) that I haven't thought about in years!

While we are here - stuck in a loop by Seskon 2020-10-08T13:52:02Z

@seskon It's not that I don't like the visuals, it's more that the desired outputs look something like

=================OOOO------------------------------

and you have to count all the equals signs and hyphens manually before going about solving the puzzle. Is it necessary for the design of the puzzles, especially the early ones, for the outputs to be so long?

Looper by Shortbread 2020-10-09T12:45:04Z

Very nicely done. It feels a lot like a platformer, no? Quite unique, with a great aesthetic and fun music (that could stand to be just a bit longer, given how long the game can take to beat). It makes you wonder: why have platformers historically been satisfied just going left and right? Why not go all over the dang place? Some notes and nitpicks:

* I really appreciate your giving the curves a direction and having the player move with and against the flow, rather than trying to establish a concept of clockwise and counterclockwise. It means you can always just look at the curve to see which arrow to hit. * It can be tricky to tell exactly when you're close enough to another curve to transfer to it. Some kind of graphical indication could help or, better yet, the ability to hold the button to transfer the next time you're in range of another curve (with logic to prevent immediately transferring back, of course). * The wiggling spikes are definitely fun in some levels, but the fact that they wiggle in all levels adds to a general sense of imprecision. * The acceleration is sometimes super helpful to gather up a head of steam and squeeze through a tough spot quickly, but it's maybe a little much: it can be hard to make small adjustments.

All in all, a very clean entry. Thumbs up!

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-06T13:10:27Z

Wasn't able to finish the fourth room: you mentioned in another comment that you can walk right and wrap around, but I just see a wall there, and the enemies fall down too fast for me to get back up. Hm!

Cool art and music, enjoyable even if I couldn't secure the win. :)

SORO BORO by nethead 2020-10-06T13:28:17Z

@nethead Hey, if you respond, I'm gonna give it another go... and I was able to navigate the time loop and beat it! The spawn rate of enemies still seems determined by how many enemies are dead, I'm guessing? In the very last section I was having like five enemies spawning back to back from the left and coming down the stairs. Only with a very tight jump was I able to escape.

Peter Carlson: PC Adventures by Pink shard games 2020-10-08T01:30:54Z

An interesting mechanic of being given a set of inputs and having to figure out how to use them. A think a slightly zoomed-out perspective might have been helpful: there are a lot of blind jumps that mean starting over if you don't get them just right on the first try.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Marble Warble by MrTroy 2021-05-09T06:54:12Z

I triggered the race to the exit, but no way was I gonna make it in 20 seconds! I had a good time, agree with other folks that the music is excellent and the controls feel maybe a tad sluggish. I appreciate inertial physics as much as the next guy, but that ball felt heeeeavy.

Deep Seek by Sheepolution 2021-04-30T06:16:34Z

Fun animation and effects! Could be pretty harsh for a jam game, but I'm not really one to talk since I always make my games too hard. A nice, effortful entry.

Below the Tide by Dustyroom 2021-04-28T06:46:21Z

Looks great! Pretty inspiring to see what can be done with smart use of relatively simple geometry. I was seeing a bright flash towards the bottom of the screen, but never seemed to get any closer to it. I started thinking it was some kind of graphical glitch: is that intentional?

The Cave by incobalt 2021-04-30T06:27:30Z

Had to turn the lights off in my room to beat this one! Thank you to Shezz, Bast, Roob, and the rest for lighting the way.

Unearther by udo 2021-04-30T08:12:29Z

Ran into an issue on "Floor is Lava" where respawning placed me into a wall I couldn't move out of :(

Took me a while to figure out the rules: when I can move up, what the laser does (I assumed it made the object it hit passable, at first). Interesting puzzle design and some nice music!

Holey Hell by managore 2021-04-27T17:57:31Z

Neat! I enjoyed how the jumping velocity seemed to be fixed after leaving the ground, meaning that I was often operating on a different axis than enemies that were even right next to me. Pretty tough to wrap my brain around!

Nuclear blaze by deepnight 2021-05-14T06:55:09Z

What a great look! Would have loved the ability to spray water in midair, felt like a big disconnect for me between that and the overall platformy feel. That plus more checkpoints, having different button for jumping and aiming upwards... a few other improvements to be made, but I appreciated how it really did feel like battling through a building, fighting a fire.

Super Drill Diver! by Cornflowerblue 2021-04-29T08:09:29Z

Beautiful! Loved the *softer* elements of this game: the art and the music.

It looks like a few other people agree that the controls are a little off. I actually love platformers that some people would call "floaty" or "unresponsive," like N++. Being more charitable, I would call them... "momentum-centric." I think my beef with the controls here stem from the fact that on the ground, the character turns on a dime, while air control is very low. It's realistic, but it's not what most people would expect. Funnily, I did this exact thing in LD44 and [got the same criticism](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/meltup). The instadeath pits are also pretty harsh, and I feel that the gun could have used a liiittle bit of autoaim.

The modular level generation was a great idea, though! Would love to see more of that in 3D platformers.

Bioluminescence by loveapplegames 2021-05-07T01:09:43Z

Very creative! I especially liked the rainbow jellies. Did you use the concept of boids in your logic?

depthscraper by lexi 2021-04-27T12:07:49Z

Can't say I've seen a puzzle mechanic quite like this before... cool! Definitely liked how it involved scrolling farther and farther down in the browser, neat take on the theme.

Pipes All the Way Down by kroltan 2021-04-30T07:07:03Z

Unique submission. I did feel like I could probably survive just about forever: gradually introducing obstacles or restrictions would have added some interest to longer runs, or maybe just gradually increase the cost of discarding to make sure runs are finite. Would like to see what you might have done with the full 48 hours!

Fallumns by Logan 2021-04-30T10:46:04Z

I mean... wow. I could type an essay about this thing. It's astounding. Across 7 Ludum Dares I've played about 300 submissions, and this is the best one I've seen. Seriously. Here are my problems with it:

* Sometimes you run into issues taking a block from one section into the next section * That's it

Like, wow. Man. Bravo.

Fallumns by Logan 2021-05-18T21:44:31Z

Congratulations in advance on the win... :)

Squiggly Squid by Flauschzelle 2021-04-30T10:11:44Z

What LD submission page is complete without a victory receipt?

ss.png

What a unique submission! I quite enjoyed being a squid dragging a fork through a tunnel. I bet you could wring some fun puzzles out of these geometry problems. The buoyancy on the bottle was clever as well. My hand got pretty tired mashing the up arrow, I'll say. Oh, also: some of the most fun I had was when I thought there might be an easter egg out of bounds to the right of the first level, trying to swim up and fling myself over that little hill. Lots of opportunities for future exploration here.

We Have to Go Deeper! by Scott Steffes 2021-04-28T07:30:46Z

Damn, lookin' great! Nice length for a compo game, plus the fun death indicators and of course just totally awesome looking. Nice work!

@caue-henrique Thanks for the suggestion! I just uploaded a bugfix build with skill hotkeys, among other things.

@vladislav-lesen Я могу только надеяться, что Google правильно перевел ваш комментарий. Спасибо, что играете в ОБЕЛИСК.

Obelisk by caeonosphere 2021-04-28T23:17:08Z

@ccglp I'm glad you found the difficulty okay, turns out it's pretty hard to get right!

@hidjy Agreed about leaning into the puzzle aspect, that'd be a good direction to take it. I was initially planning on using the two levels a little more, but I ran out of time! A version with more content would definitely have that: dropping things to the floor below, enemies teleporting up to come after you, that kind of thing.

Obelisk by caeonosphere 2021-04-29T09:31:20Z

@bassguitarbill ...

:(

Obelisk by caeonosphere 2021-04-29T10:04:11Z

@slowfrog-again Ah jeez, glad you made it! I may add a couple lines of in-game tutorial text if other folks have the same problem.

@udo Thanks for the heads up, I've actually run into that before and totally forgot. I've replaced the .zip with a .tar: for some reason that's fixed it in the past. Thanks for playing, and let me know if you get a high score! (My best is around 18 or so.) I hope you'll forgive any balance issues — it gets pretty rough pretty quick, but I feel like a full rebalance would be skirting LD rules a little too much.

Obelisk by caeonosphere 2021-04-30T22:24:12Z

@maaxoom That could be — you actually have to hover over the tile the enemy is standing on, rather than the enemy, so it can be kind of confusing. If you happen to try that and it still doesn't work, let me know.

@metadept Yeah, there's definitely some unavoidable damage. You do actually heal in between floors, and there are a couple abilities that give you ways to heal, but I would have liked something a little more consistent, some assurance that levels were "solvable" or at least guaranteed healing. Wasn't in the cards for 48 hours...

Obelisk by caeonosphere 2021-05-02T04:37:20Z

@blinry Aww! Thanks for playing, y'all. Yeah, there isn't a ton of content; I had plenty of unimplemented ideas that would have spiced up the later floors, but it didn't quite happen. Lots of time I wish I could have gotten back, as the time lapse shows: 30 minutes making that dang brick texture, making all those symbols that didn't even make it into the game... many time-management lessons learned this time around.

Obelisk by caeonosphere 2021-05-06T22:36:29Z

@chillen Thanks! Yeah, displaying "intents" would be a good way of making the game more predictable as a puzzler. You also mention unit differentiation; this would put the game more in line with the games that inspired it, like *868-HACK*.

Obelisk by caeonosphere 2021-05-08T06:18:13Z

@mrtroy It is sadly not winnable, just gets harder and harder until you die, like some kind of interactive parable about mortality. Level 20 seems to be the hard limit, as far as I've seen. Wish I had had more time to work on the difficulty curve...

Deeper Into The Mind by michaelyount 2021-05-03T03:24:15Z

I beat it, I think! Dark as it was and with no health bar it was kinda hard to tell what was going on, but felt solid overall.

loading... by PopDaddyGames 2021-04-28T06:31:42Z

I did manage to get it working... couldn't stop spinning, though! Seemed like nothing I did could change the angular velocity numbers (I assume that's what "AV" stands for). When I saw Saturn that big, basically right next to me, I thought: *I am really fucked.* But then I could also see the ISS — unconventional scaling to say the least! Always cool to see a LD game with voice, and commendably acted at that. Could maybe use a little more instruction.

Time to grow down by Hidjy 2021-04-29T10:23:22Z

It got so dark down at the bottom! D:

I really like the idea, a fun take on the theme. I've certainly never played a root-growin' rock-dodge-'em-up before. Also a great idea to let people save screenshots! My plant is kinda scraggly, not exactly worth framing on the wall, but I suppose it's a matter of practice.

Storyteller by Fadex 2021-04-29T09:08:30Z

Fun art style, plus animation! I can tell a lot of work went into this. It was fun to give strange names to each object and then have to remember what the hell I was talking about.

Starchaser by Haustgeirr 2021-04-29T07:33:01Z

Cool! Like the UI, liked the energy/fuel duality once I figured out what was what. The artefacts are placed randomly, I take it? I had an issue where the distance between the 3rd and 4th was like... forever. I accelerated and accelerated and never seemed to get any closer!

Crystal Core by Thomas_Bringer 2021-04-30T08:31:22Z

Hey, very stylish! Appreciated all the designs for the different areas, and each with their own hazards. Not totally sure what the hazards do, though, since I managed to avoid them all! You could have made them a little meaner, I think: the columns toppling as you walk by them, bigger falling rocks... you got quite a lot done within the 48 as it is, though.

Awww yeah! I didn't think I had it in me! Fun movement, love the sound of that skull rollin' along as well. Nice work!

Carriere by Morricore 2021-04-29T09:00:49Z

Chipping away at a 3D Minesweeper: very cool take on the theme! I think it could be even better with authored puzzles ala Picross and Hexcells, rather than randomly generated ones. A big ask within 72 hours, I know.

Nefarious Dive by Nisanick 2021-05-02T22:48:42Z

I managed to max everything out and win! Those clownfish are vicious — or should I say fishious? Would have been cool if the various depths had more differences from each other, the strategy seemed to be to linger at the surface until maxing out, then diving to find the win. It also seemed like the fire rate upgrade was linearly decreasing the time between shots, meaning it was exponentially decreasing the shots per second. That last upgrade is pretty crazy!

Physician, Heal Thy Elf by No Grapes Games 2021-04-29T09:56:32Z

Those are some nasty SFX, y'all. Had to play it for the name alone, enjoyed breaking chains of blocks — pretty fun twist for a game like this. The parallax view at levels below was fun too, really sold the theme!

CQns by PizzArt64 2021-04-29T09:19:21Z

I managed to kill just a dozen or so enemies, and I felt pretty lucky! A fun look and a liked the twist of shooting backwards. Definitely hard to aim, though... how come the enemies get to move and shoot at arbitrary angles and I'm stuck with right angles? And they're all ganging up on me, eh? Hardly seems fair! :)

Psychedelic by SaltFactory Studio 2021-04-28T06:15:51Z

Certainly as advertised, I liked the shifting textures and strange geometry. It was pretty easy to sneak outside of the main tunnel and cheat my way to a victory; on the other hand it felt basically impossible to survive if I didn't avoid most of the obstacles rather than weave my way through them. Reminiscent of the game "AaAaaAA!!!" in a fun way.

Fun animation and art style! Pretty unforgiving hitboxes, though, I must say — it was a lot harder than I expected.

Way Down We Go by Slowfrog Again 2021-04-30T08:03:45Z

I'm a sucker for achievements, so I just had to 100% it. Very glad your definition of "all the fish" is 100, not the estimated 3,500,000,000,000 in the world's oceans. You have more restraint than the people who design the achievements for some AAA games...

The circuit by AdamsMcCall 2021-05-11T07:00:14Z

Ah man! I would have loved even a second level, but I know how these things go. Cool idea, this kind of zooming-into-a-glyph thing is actually what I thought Opus Magnum was going to be when I originally saw it. I want more!

CAELUM CORE by inertiaa 2021-04-29T09:29:32Z

Cute character! I was also able to wedge myself into walls pretty good. Good 2D platforming is hard to get right — lord knows I've tried and failed before...

Down for the kiwi by AniMagik 2021-04-27T11:54:46Z

I will take my kiwi! A fun little maze. I am also a lover of interesting fruit; if you can get rambutans where you are, give 'em a try! They're one of my favorites.

Sleepy Trouble by Stevi60 2021-04-28T07:01:42Z

Found the teddy! A nice long game, lots of level design for 72 hours. Well done! Agree with the others about the levers blending into the walls. I feel the controls could really have benefitted from some coyote time as well — maybe I'm just accustomed to it, but I sometimes felt that I was being unfairly deprived of my double jump, especially in the section where you climb all those narrow platforms. Besides that, though, great work!

The Ruins of Cuglatr 2 by unpronounceable 2021-10-09T08:07:12Z

Dang, that's a lot of writing in 48 hours! When I tried a narrative game a few Ludum Dares ago, I didn't manage nearly that much. Well done!

Chickie Catchers by DDRKirbyISQ 2021-10-09T10:16:56Z

Dang, that winter level is hard! I think the single-player mode works better than you describe. Some of the best SFX around, and obviously the art is super cute as well. Great job!

Burning Ravager by sinclairstrange 2021-10-06T01:10:22Z

Damn, man. This looks awesome. Just the art would be impressive for 48 hours, and you packed all sorts of other stuff in, plus a huge map. I managed to find 4 gems before getting owned in a lava tube. Well done!

Unscrambler by Antti Haavikko 2021-10-10T07:59:23Z

Managed to get 3rd — always love a leaderboard for a jam game! The best strategy I could come up with was to compress the letters down as much as I could, avoiding nasty letter pairs where possible, which left a more reasonable trial-and-error space to mess around in. It's definitely hard, but letters getting stuck together within symbols was a nice twist on the word jumble puzzle.

Ruff Tuff Skies by fiaKaiera 2021-10-10T08:05:25Z

Agh, me poor clickin' finger... D:

Super cute, loved the look and the take on the theme. Appreciated all the different enemy types, too. Just a slightly different control scheme and spawn behavior would polish this up nicely. Great work, you two!

Topplecrown by caeonosphere 2021-10-06T19:16:56Z

@reronin Easy in some ways, not so easy in others! MCTS is super cool; I'm excited to get better at implementing it/using it in a jam setting.

@randomphantom The theme is totally weak. The idea is that you're rearranging a chessboard, typically a "stable" configuration, but yeah. A stretch.

@unpronounceable Thanks for playing and thanks for the report. I'll have a look!

Topplecrown by caeonosphere 2021-10-07T19:01:07Z

@antti-haavikko Thanks for the detailed notes! Yeah, the AI doesn't care much about material, just mates. I suppose it's just a matter of MCTS with relatively low playouts and no policy/value. I had hoped for a little better performance!

About the 0.2 changes, you're right. I changed the link and added more notices.

Topplecrown by caeonosphere 2021-10-11T17:30:50Z

@drwijnen Sounds like you downloaded the source code instead of the build? The assets dropdown on the Github releases has both.

@honey-pony Thanks for the feedback! Agreed about the restart button and the jarring transition to the menu after losing. I just totally ran out of time. (Duh.) Hopefully I can make just a sliiiightly smaller game next LD so I have time for this kind of polish.

Drillte by Yokin 2021-10-10T07:29:30Z

Neat! The ideas are great; most of the issues people are mentioning stem only from the generation. I saw giant asteroids with no chunks in them, I saw all-blue asteroids that gave me 15 points in one go, I flew thirty seconds without seeing anything... if things were just a little more uniform it would go a long way. Carving up the asteroids feels smooth, all while trying to keep your bearings. I enjoyed!

The Eye of Glower-On by UkuleleFury 2021-10-09T01:54:15Z

Filthy bobbitses... nicely done! I had a little trouble figuring out how powerful Tremor was supposed to be. Sometimes it seemed to kill elves and dwarves in one hit, sometimes three. Is it less powerful when they're mid jump, something like that?

I was surprised to be defeated by the last puzzle! I was always one operation short. Cool idea! Very much in the vein of many of my favorite games. Would have loved to see just one more mechanic in there, to elaborate beyond just moving around, but such is the compo. Turbo mode was just enough to let you design some interesting puzzles. Nice job!

A Hard Pill to Swallow by osh.studio 2021-10-09T08:15:16Z

Managed it in 54! The capsule shape made it feel pretty different from your usual minigolf game, plus whatever strange in-air deceleration was going on. While the capsule bouncing was fun, it did make it feel more random, and really incentivized going for more holes in one. A few more concave resting places might have helped with that?

A great concept, well executed! I'd love to try a version with just one more block color: it feels like the pieces accumulate into giant unmanageable blobs very quickly, which takes a little of the strategy out. (Disallowing rotation definitely feels like the right move, though.) Nice work!

Shotgun King: the Final Checkmate by benjamin 2022-04-07T05:52:18Z

Joining the crowd here... excellent entry. Gameplay, art, and music are all on point. The theme could have been a closer hit, I think, but certainly not a disqualifier. Great work, y'all!

Not often an LD game gives me a hearty chuckle, but when I relaunched after quitting... great stuff!

I Refuse to Hibernate! by Rose 2022-04-06T05:54:35Z

Those bears are so cute! Some nice hidden depth here — I wonder what it looks like when a real pro plays this game. They'd probably do better than my meager 15 turns.

Block or Bust by 100th_Coin 2022-04-08T03:26:50Z

Let me join the crowd here: what a creative, funny game! I had a smile the whole while. Love that funny armless run cycle. I made a note to follow your work long ago and it keeps paying off.

Bussin by bitdecay 2022-04-06T04:26:48Z

Wish I had a touchscreen to play this on! Definitely liked the feel of the physics, especially the soft-body food, although it did have a tendency to flip out and explode. Also a big fan of the specificity of the achievements. Nice work, all!

Sir Blocksalot by jhandsy 2022-04-10T21:00:35Z

Very cool take on the theme, and on the polyomino puzzle game. The bushes are a great mechanic to make the player think a little more, and to hurry up defeat without making things seem totally unfair. I do think it might have felt a little better to control if the player was locked to the same grid that the rest of the game is — always being between blocks gave it kind of a slidey feel to me.

Rocket Rally by fueelin 2022-04-13T04:24:50Z

Is this the last level? The door doesn't seem to work. A rocket jumping platformer is a great idea, would love to try a post-jam version!

Claustrowordia by Antti Haavikko 2022-05-01T07:54:34Z

Coming to this a little late... very enjoyable. Breaks many assumptions I have about how word games should work, and yet it still works. A well deserved win.

Extinction is inevitable by thetatautau 2022-04-09T21:55:14Z

Very cool! Not often in a game do you have to prevent yourself from becoming too powerful! My guys were eating that grass way too fast. Reminds me of the board game Evolution, but honestly I like it a lot more. Would be awesome to see more evolutions!

Some Heart For Your Boyfriend by RIBOUT Horace 2022-04-13T04:40:50Z

Yeah, I like that chainsaw dash! Would be even better if the upward slash had a little more oomph to it. Nice big map to explore, well done!

Isn't-Land by Villfuk02 2022-04-10T21:10:22Z

Cool interplay between all the different buildings and resources, even if it was a lot to take in at first. A more fantastical sim would have been impossible to absorb at the start, but since everything mostly extended from familiar concepts, it was within reason. I thought I could be clever and just delete everything from the start, but that didn't seem to work so well. :)

Card O''Clock by Bastienre4 2022-04-07T06:15:38Z

Deckbuilding meets idle game, very cool! Liked the creativity of all the different ways you found to interact with the bank. Would love to see a post-LD version!

Did I Just Poop Myself by the Produce Section by ZachsButt 2022-04-08T03:38:05Z

Even though I wanted to avoid the topic, I knew it would be the right move to just confront the matter head-on and talk about butts. Worked out very well.

Waterlogged by Logic Monkey 2022-04-08T03:32:11Z

Neat-o! I'm surprised how good it looked even just with parallaxed billboarded sprites like that. Had a real unique style. That little fanfare at the end of each level is so fun, too!

Fruitloose by caeonosphere 2022-04-05T06:50:56Z

@william-corrin Thanks for playing! The game is definitely lacking for instruction, planning on putting some here shortly. The music is also totally... I think I forgot what my game was about when I made it!

As for including more levels... for better or worse, they're randomly generated! It's different every time you play.

Fruitloose by caeonosphere 2022-04-07T09:19:09Z

@const-arch 88, a new high score! Yeah, I really wish I'd had time to put in an in-game tutorial; it seems like lots of people don't know what to do at first. I'd definitely put in a nicer looking maze while I was at it. Thanks for playing, and thanks for your thoughts :)

Fruitloose by caeonosphere 2022-04-07T18:26:33Z

@ratstail91 Thanks a lot! 84 on one level... yeah, I'd say that's good!

@zachsbutt Glowin' walls was on my to-do list! Bah! I just never find time for little UI things like that. Ludum Dare should be 49 hours...

@dan-livings 120's a new high score! Yeah, I would have liked a little more flexibility in how you're allowed to move the walls. If I were to remake this, there would definitely be more options.

Fruitloose by caeonosphere 2022-04-08T22:01:23Z

@mantsje Oh my God. That's... that's really something. Probably the most anyone has broken any of my 9 Ludum Dare games. I didn't even know you could score that high!

Fruitloose by caeonosphere 2022-04-08T23:07:59Z

@mantsje Remind me to never let you folks put me into a maze...

Fruitloose by caeonosphere 2022-04-10T17:29:41Z

@milq Not sure if this got across, but the idea is to be *above* par, i.e. to make the creature take as long as possible to get through the maze! The game does not do a good job explaining that.

Fruitloose by caeonosphere 2022-04-10T18:23:35Z

@milq Thanks for going back and trying again! I learned a good lesson this time about trying to go tutorial-less.

Fruitloose by caeonosphere 2022-04-10T23:24:20Z

@phil-c Yeah, in hindsight "par" was just about the worst word I could have chosen...

Fruitloose by caeonosphere 2022-04-12T08:36:26Z

@fueelin Oh yikes, the game is much harder with no camera control… right click and drag is how it’s supposed to work, maybe there’s a bug?

@ribout-horace I guess you could play it both ways, huh? Thanks for playing :P

Wake and bake! Pizza and hot dogs for breakfast! This guy lives quite a life.

SUNSTAMEN by Jasper Hansen 2022-04-07T00:57:27Z

Ach, it's so hard! Maybe the rate the light diminishes could start a little lower, to give the player a little time to get used to the rules, then go up over time. I liked the drawings for the various stages of plant growth, and the interesting approach to the theme.

Model-5C by William Corrin 2022-04-06T04:19:29Z

Bah, only managed to find 6 of 7 robots. Definitely a cool environment, never seen anything quite like it in a compo game before!

Crows by lesinvisible 2022-04-05T08:26:26Z

Dinosurvivor by YukimiItsuka 2022-04-07T22:15:54Z

Cute game y'all! I found that I could do pretty well just hanging out and not really moving... that is until those nasty side-splitting meteors showed up. And then the strong sidesplitters. Filled my whole dang screen! Nice work!

The Endless Night by Arivenzys 2022-04-07T21:58:57Z

Wow, what great animation for an LD game! Lots going on gameplay wise, but it all made sense.

The Pit by ZwodahS 2022-04-11T01:48:46Z

Neat! I got got by the second Greater Dragon, but I could maybe have lasted a little longer with more careful play.

Hymenoptera King by Skleembof 2022-04-07T02:28:37Z

I like the style! Great job with the models and animation. Even knowing that the spider was just a box, I had a hard time tracking exactly what was going on, and why I was losing! Also you can just spam-click both mouse buttons to win the minigame quickly. :)

Battery Low by Milestone Games 2022-04-07T02:56:34Z

Ooh, I woulda been pissed if I hadn't gotten that last surprise artifact! Looks and sounds great, good job all!

Encroaching Void by Phil C 2022-04-10T23:48:47Z

Neat! This could be expanded into a really cool arena shooter, I think. I would love to play it with some extra enemy types and more mechanics that interact with the paint. A couple things I noticed: * Someone else mentioned this already, but being able to hold the Fire button down would help a lot. * I'm not able to shoot while I'm near a wall? (I see this is a known issue.) * I'm not sure sure that defeat *is* inevitable! :P There seems to be an upper limit on enemies, and I was able to camp out in the corner of the room, pick one off occasionally, and not get bothered much. I lasted about 10 minutes this way before throwing in the towel.

Light at the Museum by LunacyEcho 2022-04-08T03:11:50Z

Neat! Liked the darkness-activated switches. Just FYI: there's a bug where once you have two lanterns, you can generate an infinite number by dropping and picking them up again real fast! :)

Yeah, that inverted camera is definitely trippy. A fun little playground with some cute hidden secrets.

Keep It Warm by Fifut 2022-04-06T04:34:22Z

This house has pretty good insulation, especially considering I cracked the door in half right away! Enjoyed breaking all my furniture, just wish there was more of it!

Atlantis by lisyarus 2022-04-06T04:45:52Z

A neat, simple little sim. Losing sure didn't feel inevitable, though! After some struggling at the beginning, I was able to go infinite on my first run. With a way to increase the draw speed or even to unlock new cards, I could see this being a cool incremental game.

IBYH!? by Trabasura 2022-04-07T06:23:53Z

Nice variety of games, even with the limitation of them all being platform-y. Liked that each character had their own advantages!

Dilate the time! by milq 2022-04-11T01:10:49Z

Cool idea! I'm not sure I've ever gone so fast in a platformer before, really tested my reflexes.

DataWorker by sophie.s 2022-04-13T04:29:29Z

Neat idea! You might have better luck with the physics using Continuous instead of Discrete collision detection. Separately, I had a hard time tilting right to slide the pieces off — is there something else I'm supposed to be doing instead?

Tap to Snooze by Jul._.li 2022-04-06T08:01:55Z

Made it all the way to 20:15! A neat framing of the theme to turn it into a minigame collection. Would have been cool if the music was tied to the alarm going off, something like that. Would have loved to see more minigames as well!

That One Time I Woke Up and Saw Vines Outside My Window by Nonnen 2022-04-07T00:49:04Z

Cool take on the theme, and a nice lo-fi implementation of growing plants. Hitboxes could definitely use a little work, and it would be cool if different parts grew at different speeds so you didn't find yourself surrounded 20 seconds in.

Birds can be cruel... would have loved maybe one more use for the boosts; they seemed pretty situational. Maybe to blast a bird away, eh?

Shadow Rush by Brandsma 2022-04-08T22:27:21Z

Very cool, y'all! I like how there's kinda two ways to play: fast, to try to minimize the number of ghosts on the track, and slow, to keep everything orderly. Impressed with the performance, too, even with a couple hundred ghosts driving around!

Death, Taxes, and Bananas by markymark 2022-04-07T21:50:04Z

Damn, those exponentially increasing hordes of auditors are terrifying! Love the look of the title screen, too. My fingers hurt!

Alarm Clock Arcade by blinry 2022-10-06T02:19:32Z

This is the kind of idea that would never occur to me, and it's very clever! It took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out why I was dying out of nowhere, and then... ah. Of course. A fun aha moment!

Alarm Clock Arcade by blinry 2022-10-06T22:10:32Z

@flauschzelle I was in a segment that switched off and didn't realize.

Twilight Souls by Yword 2022-10-09T04:09:57Z

Wow, looks great! Impressive style for one person in 72 hours, looking at your other stuff I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Liked the BotW-inspired physics portions too, seems like there's a lot that could be done with that mechanic in 2D, mixing puzzles with action.

Oton by unpronounceable 2022-10-07T03:09:19Z

Hey, very cool concept here! Love the unique feeling of the movement. Would love to see this expanded with more enemy types, combos and multikills, that kinda thing. Maybe slightly refined controls as well: I sometimes felt like it was inconsistent whether I would kill an enemy at the peak of a jump, or a jumping guy with a stomp, or multiple enemies with a horizontal slash or whether the first one would stop me too soon. This is a great base for elaboration!

autoball by torcado 2022-10-07T04:48:43Z

What a fun idea, and I love the look and sound of it. Almost feels like it could be a new genre: Peggle tower defense... would love to see it elaborated upon!

ss.png

Ah c'mon, a duck is a *pedestrian* now?! I swerved to avoid a human! This trolley problem has a right answer!

Now this is a fun idea! Having the phone pop up on the right side is a smart move, the texts are funny. Simple and well executed. And that BGM is groovin'.

Tenjutsu by deepnight 2022-10-09T06:04:24Z

How has no one posted a victory screenshot? That kind of thing is obligatory around here:

ss.png

Yep, it's pretty rad. Hurt my hand to play on keyboard, was worth it. Might be better served by some condition other than time triggering enemy death, but it suited the theme quite nicely.

Watch Out by 100th_Coin 2022-10-06T02:51:31Z

We seem to both love jumpin' on disappearing floating cubes! Cool idea for that last level. I would have loved to see a level where you jump between analog and digital clocks, but I know how little time there is for level design in the compo. The voice acting definitely livened the whole thing up; you're making me wanna try that too... although I think I'll leave the acapella to the professionals.

Game Name by Strega 2022-10-07T04:37:06Z

So accurate, right down to begging for votes on the feed! Impressed with how many minigames y'all managed to pack in, and they all look great! I didn't realize I was so bad at sleeping...

MAZE 51 by Lazzor 2022-10-10T00:02:55Z

Not what I was expecting in terms of level design, kinda breaking the norms with a more branching, "open world" approach to mazes. Interesting... certainly liked the look!

Find Ten Seconds by dhim 2022-10-09T07:27:06Z

Haha! This worked for me, both the gameplay and the fun interpretation of the theme. It could benefit from some way for the player to get a peek inside the criteria that are used to determine similarity between items. I was surprised by how few points I got when matching, for instance, a 79 and an 80 of the same color. To me, that's worth 40 points! But hey, fair's fair. Here's a score challenge for future folks:

ss.png

Find Ten Seconds by dhim 2022-10-09T08:04:53Z

@dhim Ah, I see. It could be cool to give some partial credit, though!

Great feel, super hectic, like an economic RTS action game. The visuals and sound were both executed well and added a lot. Well done!

Echo by caeonosphere 2022-10-04T22:11:32Z

@velaachlorine You don't suck! I really made this game too hard. I'm going to update this page with some tips today, but if you haven't tried already, I would suggest playing in the dark! Makes it much easier to see.

@blinry Good to see you! Yeah, I didn't do a good job explaining it. To run along the wall, you really just need to keep moving diagonally towards it in midair, no pressing Space required. Only when you're ready to launch off of the wall do you need to press Space. I'll record a video of myself playing — hopefully that will help.

Echo by caeonosphere 2022-10-05T18:55:34Z

@100th-coin Wow, thanks for the video! I don't think anyone has recorded a full playthrough of one of my submissions before. Definitely agree about the waiting problem — if the theme had been "every 6 or 7 seconds" I think the game would have turned out better. I just couldn't find the right balance of the ping's speed and fade rate before the deadline. It works fine (I think) for levels where you're constantly moving and keeping pace with the ping, but in levels that require you to slow down, it starts to drag.

And yeah, the level where the ping comes from the center, oof. Could have left that on the cutting room floor.

Echo by caeonosphere 2022-10-06T04:20:18Z

@cogent-invalid I wish I had come to that conclusion before I made all those levels! :D

Echo by caeonosphere 2022-10-06T20:55:09Z

@jose-bonilla Yeah, I just couldn’t figure out how to phrase that better. Glad you were able to figure it out!

Echo by caeonosphere 2022-10-07T16:59:21Z

@niccolo-temperanza Theres no gamepad support, unfortunately! I could add it to the non-compo version if you’re having trouble with KBM?

Echo by caeonosphere 2022-10-07T21:00:00Z

@roboolet Ah, that’s a good idea: I could try to detect if you’re going to run off the top and stop that from happening. Thanks for playing :)

Echo by caeonosphere 2022-10-08T01:01:05Z

@paulsams Thats fair! I ran out of time to implement an “exit level” function and so just had to quit back to the hub. The 8th level thing I suppose was my idea of a “joke”… maybe it’s not that funny huh :)

Echo by caeonosphere 2022-10-11T19:02:12Z

@real-flamingicecubegames Agreed. Like I commented above, the game would definitely be more fun if the theme had been “every 7 seconds.” I couldn’t find a good balance of parameters for 10.

Blink by JUSTCAMH 2022-10-15T04:57:00Z

Yeah, this is rad. In the top 3 LD entries I've played across my 10 participations. Congrats on the mention from Terry! That's a huge nod. A few notes:

* As commented above, would love some walking SFX * From the same commenter, I also thought that I had to go into the castle, jump over the gaps, and then hold my eyes at the last second and keep walking. What's over there, anyway? * It could be cool if the pool of random locations diminished over the course of the game. You could probably afford to ditch some once nearby pieces are collected. * Does the game end when I sit on the throne with the forged crown and close my eyes? The web version seems to just crash at this point. I don't get a end screen with a time.

Anxiety by lesinvisible 2022-10-06T03:16:18Z

I think I got to the end? It didn't seem to be accepting any more input, but I did enjoy both music tracks and of course the wonderful art.

LaborSwap by ZevsEHG 2022-10-06T05:00:44Z

I also tried to play alone, and it sure was tough! A clutch beer pickup kept me in the game for a little while longer. I was having trouble steering — well, in general, but especially when the tunnel was curving. It seemed to want to take me straight even when the tunnel wasn't going straight. Anyway. I like the animation of the dudes clambering over the truck to their spots! Fun idea.

Obligatory victory screen:

ss.png

Neat idea, fun and hectic. Enjoyed how the music acted as a timer, that enhanced the mood quite a bit. To an extent, it felt pretty trial-and-error heavy: with enough movement speed, having located the key on a previous attempt, you could zoom there and back in about 15 seconds and barely interact with the eye at all. Would be interested in future elaborations.

Cybermachine by coolestdoggie 2022-10-07T04:00:27Z

Fun idea! Agree with others that the combo of fork/finger pistol/energy drink/medkit can lead to taking some long breaks in between fights. Would love to see more unique guns that require different tactics.

HighRise Rampage by Zyger 2022-10-06T03:44:23Z

All that blood and big talk made me think I was gonna be blowing some heads off — the slow realization that it was a game about throwing grenades at furniture was very funny! Not that I minded too much. A bit more level variety, maybe more elaborate physics, and this could be an interesting take on Hotline Miami.

STORQ3000 by pierogo 2022-10-06T04:34:00Z

Cool lookin' environment and multitrack BGM. I got 4 million points! I was getting a little bit of lag whenever something happened for the first time: shooting, getting shot at at, switching planes. It stopped after the first seconds and wasn't that big a deal. Wonder if that's a Godot thing?

Hostile Climate by Roboolet 2022-10-08T04:53:39Z

Oof, that's hard! You can get pretty lucky with the spawns, got up to 7 that way, but eventually my luck ran out. I fear double digits will be forever beyond my reach...

I really liked the transitions between mazes and the speedy movement on the player character. Look at that grandma go! I agree with other commenters that the automatic pathfinding did make it rather easy — the hardest part of each maze was finding the heart hidden by the camera angle. A lot to like here either way.

Impact-Effect by IdeasPerSecond 2022-10-07T06:32:26Z

Can I make it to Level 10? You bet I can! Nice and intense, always ping-ponging between full health and the brink of death. It seemed like the best strategy was to just circle around the perimeter, would be cool to see an enemy that punishes that kind of behavior.

Decrypt by Gabriel Chan 2022-10-06T04:52:10Z

Is the bottom row being empty intentional? It happened kinda suddenly. Cool idea, agree with others that the dragging could use some work. Moving the letters away from the target spot would help a lot. I thought I was better at word games than this...

ss.png

Silver Platter by velaachlorine 2022-10-06T02:27:05Z

I got 25 and felt pretty good about that! Neat art and a fun entry into the underserved "multitasking game" genre. I could tell when to use the brush since the platter would start turning red: was there supposed to be a similar tell for the wrench?

Robot by Shuimen 2022-10-07T02:59:47Z

Cool idea, kind of a mix between a programming puzzle game and an action game. You should keep exploring this! Making decisions under time pressure like this can be fun.

10-Second Magic Artist by vivyhasadream 2022-10-09T06:12:42Z

A tip for those who haven't given it a try yet: the model seems to do a lot better with solid areas of color than with outlines.

minigames! by thyoi 2022-10-06T03:24:46Z

It's not even that short! I loved the dream about winning LD. And gimme more of those giant boulders in my brick breaker games!

Clockwork by googlypoo 2022-10-11T04:54:23Z

I liked the idea behind the upgrading mechanic. At first it seemed like it added a layer of hand management, but units also upgrade when they're on the board? I got to ~10 enemies left, but they were so strong at that point that I didn't have much of a chance. It seemed like their levels were roughly keeping pace with mine, but my strong dudes would eventually run out of HP and then I'd be back at square one.

I liked the sequencing decisions that came from stuff like card draw and upgrading everything in hand: I think you could add a lot if you lean in that direction!

Reload by dod108 2022-10-10T02:34:30Z

Super simple, super neat! Once you get into the rhythm of how enemies behave, you can take them out pretty effectively. Satisfying. Would love to see more enemy types.

Lights Out by niccolo-temperanza 2022-10-08T04:31:35Z

Ah, so we did have the same kind of idea, huh? :D

Like another commenter, I couldn't get past the part with the overhead pillars guiding where to go. Couldn't quite find a camera angle that would give me the depth perception I needed to make it happen. It's a good idea (of course I would think so) and definitely the best-animated character one is likely to find in the compo. How much of the time did you spend on that?

Midday Garden by Dustyroom 2023-01-16T22:52:23Z

Cute! Liked the ammo system and the different weapon types. It would be cool if there was a more consistent way to get health back, like maybe one of the shop choices should always be health.

A Day in the Life of Death by DDRKirbyISQ 2023-01-16T22:15:45Z

Aww! Great art and music, and one of the few LD games where I enjoyed the story. The gameplay was simple, but you found ways to sneak some creative twists in there. Nice job!

The Orchid's Edge by Cornflowerblue 2023-01-14T03:30:29Z

Wow, looks great! That's a lot of style for just three days of work. Enjoyed looking for stuff a little out of the way. A scythe weapon definitely came to my mind when I saw the theme, but I just don't got these kinda chops. Well done!

Flavors of Victory by Kyrio 2023-01-16T22:21:05Z

Great art, love the character designs! And man, I do love a good food-themed game. It was quite easy, since you can always see exactly how to beat your opponent. I wonder how to make it harder though... always tricky to make a rock-paper-scissors game harder without just making it more random. Well done! :)

Flowers in C by imyellowfish 2023-01-12T09:41:01Z

Hey, arranging a classical piece... that's a good idea! I might use that one in the future. I liked the visualization a lot, the way it changed over the course of the song. Can't say I've seen anything quite like it in LD before. Well done! :)

Avian Reaper by MaximBegunov 2023-01-13T07:23:32Z

Great animation and nice, simple mechanics. That murderer just won't stop murdering the innocent! Get away from them, ya creep!

Wheat World by Belonzik 2023-01-16T21:31:19Z

I beat it, I think! I wasn't able to find the secret levels; maybe next time you should just include them as normal levels? It's sad to have people miss out on the stuff you spent those precious hours on. The difficulty ramp-up was also quite severe!

Way more positives than negatives, though. I loved the slash mechanic, very creative. Like a sideways take on Hollow Knight's pogo mechanic. It turns the levels into puzzles: what to cut now, and what to save for later? Very solid music, cute art. Would definitely play a full version with tons of crop types, and maybe a level editor! Tag me when it comes out on Steam and I'll snag a copy. ;)

River of Souls by nardandas 2023-01-12T21:11:57Z

Simple and fun!

* I'll say that the instant game overs from the gun pushing me into the river were a little frustrating at first. Some kind of respawn with penalty would be cool. I did like the guardrail in the front that falls off, that's a nice touch to make me care about damaged but still standing portions of the bridge. * I like the aliased rotation pixel art style. A good looking game for just 24 hours, that's for sure. * I was pretty happy to let most of the bridge collapse, leaving me with just a little portion that I had to worry about. I stopped at 100, but with that and the fact that I'm not punished for letting gems pass by, I think I could have lasted for a long, long time. Unless resilience has something to do with that? I don't really know what that meant.

Looks like a new high score? I think I just got really lucky with extra time pickups. Cute, feels good to play, nice work!

Grow In The Dark by Flauschzelle 2023-01-21T10:29:23Z

Hey, we both made pseudo-programming fruit-collection games! :D

ss.png

Fun idea, and that last puzzle was surprisingly tricky. I had to totally change my solution a few times in order to get it working, it's like a neat little encapsulation of the traveling salesman problem or something. Would love to see more, maybe with extra confounding mechanics.

Reap What You Sow by Hare Software 2023-01-13T08:15:41Z

Great idea, and well executed! The AI was perfectly capable, always tricky to manage during a jam, and the voice work was a nice touch. Nice work y'all!

Orchard Alchemy by caeonosphere 2023-01-09T18:04:17Z

@rob6566 Ah jeez, I thought I had fixed the crash issues. I’ll take another swing at it, thanks for the heads up!

Orchard Alchemy by caeonosphere 2023-01-10T03:05:50Z

@rob6566 I had fixed one infinite loop, but it turns out that there were TWO MORE! Should be good to go now.

Orchard Alchemy by caeonosphere 2023-01-10T09:27:05Z

@rob6566 Are you serious?! I would have bet $100 that no one would beat it. Holy hell.

Orchard Alchemy by caeonosphere 2023-01-11T06:37:57Z

Thanks for the kind words, folks!

@paetramon I hope you noticed the button to clean up all the fruit! Even with that, it's definitely easy to make a mess.

@nardandas "Cumbersome" is definitely the word I would use. When I came up with the flinger, I didn't expect it would be so different from conveyor belts, and so... cumbersome. I also agree about the money balance, there's a lot of work to be done there. If you happen to ever play again, please do use the cheats :)

@poboy I forgot to add this to the tutorial, but you can add things back into your inventory by dragging them onto the trash button. Drawing regions is a great idea!

Orchard Alchemy by caeonosphere 2023-01-11T07:51:22Z

@const-arch Wow, nice work! Thanks for playing. I recognize some of your jam games; looks like this is your first compo? Looking forward to giving your game a thorough exploration. :)

Orchard Alchemy by caeonosphere 2023-01-12T08:10:18Z

@theherborist A pusher would be a great idea: I find that moving fruit over by 1 via flingers can be... difficult. Thanks for playing!

@mhorth I'm a full-stack dev, but I do have high standards for UI, even in a jam! I can think of one reason the lab would give you trouble: you can only research one fruit at a time (which I fail to explain in the tutorial) so if a lab eats an apple or pear beforehand, it'll refuse to take anything else until the current research is done. You can see the current research in the upper left. Hope that helps!

Orchard Alchemy by caeonosphere 2023-01-14T01:26:23Z

@xlores-liang Funny enough, rotting fruit was on the todo list! It would have been a way to make wine rather than a fail condition, maybe for the best that I ran out of time for it anyway... :)

@blinry Thanks, buddy! Definitely should have had WASD pan the camera, glad you were able to enjoy despite that.

Orchard Alchemy by caeonosphere 2023-01-18T01:09:45Z

@zirrrus Thanks for playing! Agreed, it can be hard to build with fruit flying all over the place. A pause button was at the top of my todo list when the deadline rolled around... :|

@someone Sorry about the pacing and the tutorial not pointing the mint out when it shows up. A lot of polish got left out, but I'm glad you went back and found your way!

Orchard Alchemy by caeonosphere 2023-01-21T08:21:13Z

@flauschzelle Thanks for the notes! I have such a tough time keeping track of these polish points; I'll try to be a little more organized and include them in future jams. And great work on the win, wow. It's been so gratifying to see that people have been willing to get to the end, when I thought that number was going to be zero. Such a pleasant surprise.

Water Tower by KeithSwanger 2023-01-11T08:37:49Z

I forgot how fun sniping with ballistics is! Great idea, nice controls, some fun objectives. Would love to see even more variety, like hitting fruit in midair, 360 no-scopes, etc etc, but I know how it goes. Well done.

Settlement by Corporation 2023-01-19T22:36:48Z

Managed to get 123, I'm happy enough with that! A solid concept executed simply and well. This is the sweet spot for a solitaire game in the compo: lean towards the puzzle-y side rather than the sim side. You can go a pretty long time without rolling a 7, which is rough, so I would have appreciated some way to mitigate bad luck. Maybe spending money to nudge the die roll up or down?

Soul Harvest by theHerborist 2023-01-13T07:31:19Z

After a couple tries, I scored 158! Pretty happy with that, now to nurse my cramped hand...

DeadLyft by JoshH 2023-01-11T05:04:51Z

Really like the character art! I also ran into the problem with an empty dialogue box and getting stuck in a loop of previous text...

Children of the Combine by MilkWine 2023-01-12T09:52:31Z

Not one, not two, but THREE boss fights?! Great voiceovers, boys, I'm inspired. And the comic pages: divine. Is it just me, or is the reverse steering the reverse of the usual? All good, I was able to grind up those beans just fine anyway.

Cyber Shapes by mhorth 2023-01-11T06:09:59Z

Fun interpretation of the theme! Maxed-out pulse powerups are pretty OP — I got this far and only had to stop because my hand started Hurting. (Having shoot and harvest on different triggers would go a long way to help that, I think.)

Social Mediæty by const_arch 2023-01-12T22:38:00Z

I've often asked myself: what if Hellstar Remina had a social media presence? Now I know. Adding a rival was a good way to differentiate from the typical sim. I'm a little ashamed that it took me over 500 days to win!

It was fun! Jumping out of the ground felt good, reminded me of certain old Flash games that I haven't thought about in a long, long time. Agree with others about the cluttered UI and being zoomed in a bit too much, but it wasn't anything I couldn't get over. I also liked the mole and bird mechanics, having to be careful about how much time you spend doing what. Well done!

Plot Luck by Ani 2023-01-13T07:43:53Z

Adorable! I really liked the "luck" currency that you earn by losing, and how you can spend it to line up all sorts of combos. I was also able to get my money trending upwards; I'd love to see more mechanics that add variety and keep everything in balance. :)

Juicy Reaping by Kita 2023-01-11T05:14:58Z

Hey, cute! I only managed 42... are the spiky pink balls supposed to be seeds? I was having a hard time picking those up in particular. This game is surprisingly intense!

Cool pseudo-encumbrance system, a natural fit for a game about a bird. The walking animation and SFX made me smile. Well done!

Wireworld by blinry 2023-05-03T05:18:45Z

Bah, I also got stuck at level 15! Couldn't quite figure out how to use the hint. As a CA enthusiast, I've heard of Wireworld but never had the chance to try my hand at it. Nothing like a good Zachlike to force me to learn something. Nice work! :)

The Overlooker by Geckoo1337 2023-05-08T17:33:29Z

Not a lot of letters making it to their destinations in Zakousta, huh? I managed to finish with 5/5 reputation, just barely. Difficulty seems well tuned!

Inbox Fool by 100th_Coin 2023-05-03T05:41:58Z

It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out how the boss was moving the frame, but I finally got it. Most of the levels, I couldn't really tell if I was cheesing them since my solutions relied on being just baaarely outside of the death zone. Some nice variety of art and gameplay for 48 hours, well done!

Maily Melo by Blix 2023-05-10T07:34:06Z

Beautiful, beautiful! Loved the cute squashing of the reaction portraits. The writing was cute and effective as well. Did I miss any plotlines that run through the entire game? I did incite plenty of replies, but they seemed to be one-offs. I know this isn't really meant as a gamey game, but more continuity (and communication between the 9 characters) would have been even cooler!

Rogue Box by Rewzu 2023-05-16T04:56:08Z

Once you get enough of them nasty birds following you, it seems like it gets a lot easier. I think I could have gone much longer if I'd kept on it. The controls were just the right amount of wacky without feeling unresponsive. Simple and neat!

Holiday Halfpipe by Marcus Otterstrom 2023-05-08T05:06:31Z

Simple and sweet! I like the chimney jump mechanic, and of course the very nice art. Some kind of combo multiplier would be cool, it does seem like the balance is currently in favor of safe, consistent play and I'd like to get some big points for big risks!

Peculiar Parcel Pioneers by svdvorak 2023-05-16T04:04:52Z

Cool concept, this type of party management game is turning into some kind of sub-sub-genre that I hope to see more of. I do wish the game was a little easier to navigate; I found myself unable to find where I was supposed to be going.

Snapdash by caeonosphere 2023-05-03T06:53:13Z

@eieio Yep, reflections are allowed! I figured I should be a little more forgiving considering the time pressure.

@nordwolf That's fair. Maybe the arcade-style implementation of this mechanic just didn't do it for you. I agree that a scrapyard "order filling" direction would be a cool way to extend the concept.

Snapdash by caeonosphere 2023-05-04T07:27:06Z

@aune Glad you mentioned one-blocks: I’ll be uploading a version after rating that makes them much less common. That was the intention for this version, but I wasn’t able to find the right balance formulas in time!

Snapdash by caeonosphere 2023-05-08T02:43:25Z

@rngames The constant pickup distance is for sure weird, mostly the result of coming up with a control scheme that worked for both M+KB and controller. Any ideas on how to improve?

@cronno Agreed about the movement speed and run length: I'll be putting up a new version after rating that fixes those and many other things that have been bothering me. And the collision issue you mention, yeah... I tried fixing that right in the 48th hour and ran out of time. Physics are tricky... :P

Fun game! Can't say I've played anything like it in all my Ludum Dares. Platforming felt nice, if a little cheeseable with infinite floating — once I collected the first umbrella up high, I was able to see and collect the other three in just a couple minutes. Cool look, too. Always nice to see some non-default 3D Unity games in the compo.

Beetle Dynasty by Hakro 2023-05-15T07:14:51Z

You don't see much 2D skeletal animation in compo games, well done! Controlled nicely, though it could have used a bit of coyote time.

Waggle Danger by Haustgeirr 2023-05-03T05:28:17Z

ss.png

Welcome back! :)

I was also expecting to music to keep the beat, which was not my experience. Instead I used the blinking icon to stay in rhythm, which was pretty hard. I wasn't quite sure what the little bee indicator inside it was supposed to mean, but I was able to scrape by anyway. I like the element of danger in a rhythm game!

Xerpa Delivery by MaximeG 2023-05-16T05:11:51Z

Nice concept! I was able to beat level 1 within the time limit, but couldn't find the goal for level 2 and the game seems to crash when I try to start level 3. Satisfying physics and a fun mashup between seemingly disparate mechanics.

Bundle Dumper: Florida Edition by cheesepencil 2023-05-09T02:41:14Z

Damn, that was hard! I like the controls, they feel just the right amount of floaty. I had a bit of trouble with the lives system, how they seemed to carry over between levels and depleted even with no deliveries completed, which both incentivize you to kill yourself repeatedly until you have the full amount of lives to try a level with.

Chain Mail by AdamCYounis 2023-05-04T03:46:36Z

Cool approach to the music, and selecting heroes for missing is a nice idea — reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics. (I'm seeing now that many people have drawn the same comparison.) Even a little Darkest Dungeon in there with the interpersonal mechanics. A less mechanical approach — getting to know your characters rather than matching up defined traits — would get close to a game I've been dreaming about for a long time.

LD - PIZZA by Aune 2023-05-04T04:59:57Z

This was my best on normal: ss.png

My Shift-queueing experience from RTS games really helped me out here! Clever idea to incorporate that with the delivery theme; it's a natural fit. And of course the art and voice acting were super cute, well done!

Pizza Slingshot by waffleworksgames 2023-05-03T04:39:33Z

Wow, how'd you design so many levels during the compo? I enjoyed the different pizza types, although I think it might have been better if they'd each had their own thing (destroying walls, bouncing) instead of having to share those attributes with others. I appreciated the way you made use of the different wall-destroying behaviors of the sausage and pepperoni pizzas, though. Nice work!

Devious Delivery by RNGames 2023-05-09T02:22:35Z

Damn, this game was hard! Very creative, using a box as both the thing you're delivering and a tool to hide. I'd make a couple of suggestions:

* Make the player's LOS collision area more obvious — I first thought it was the character's shadow, but I guess it's just a 2D circle around the character? * Allow the player to stay inside LOS cones for a short period of time, I'm talking a fraction of a second, with some kind of indicator. I think the game could stand to be a little more lenient, and it would create some more obvious "close call" moments. * Get rid of the level start animation when restarting! It can be frustrating to watch the same camera move over and over on a difficult level.

Overall, though, well done!

DEVILivery by Blue Pin Studio 2023-05-15T07:03:38Z

No LD game page is complete without a victory screenshot: ss.png

Especially enjoyed the look and the music! The camera could maybe have been zoomed out a bit farther; I was often shooting/killing enemies I didn't even see. Difficulty seems just about right. That last level almost got me before I squeaked out the door!

Rail Blazer by alanxoc3 2023-05-06T04:31:19Z

Cool idea that mixes exploration with economy. Took a while to find a map that felt winnable, but I commend your bravery for doing procedural maps in a jam! :)

Dungeon Delivery by causalpigeon 2023-05-04T04:48:17Z

Mimic found, doors got! I enjoyed the art and timing out the path to the graveyard. I also felt very clever deathwarping back to the merchants' guild to save time... :P

Machine Meltdown by Stefan Funke 2023-05-06T05:21:11Z

Surprisingly, I don't think I've seen this type of game in an LD before — good on ya for tackling it, and nice animations!

Mt. Deliverest by QwillaK 2023-05-09T06:12:50Z

Very nice! Took me a good dozen tries to get to the top. Enjoyed how the hazards change the way you choose your path: you always need to be ready to move sideways to avoid them. Nice aurora borealis effects as well. :)

Don't Send Me a Puddle by eieio 2023-05-04T04:11:53Z

Mandatory victory screen: ss.png

I love the idea of this zipline-design puzzle game, all it needs is a couple more mechanics to flesh it out. I was frustrated by the quantized tower height at first, but it gets rid of a problem that other physics puzzle games have where you end up just trying slightly different configurations over and over to brute force a win. Ended up appreciating that choice in the end (if it was a choice... :P). Good luck on your game dev journey!

Slime Post by Sebhulhu 2023-05-15T07:24:21Z

As others have noted, I had trouble with tombstones slipping out from under me. Ouch! I did like the level designs, though, nice work getting so many in for the jam! I see you've also commented on this already, but in the future, I would suggest doing away with limited lives for game jams — you do want players to see as much of the game as possible!

Delivery, Xtreme by anguium 2023-05-13T09:18:00Z

How interesting! It's like Osu meets Overcooked...? I like a lot of the unique design choices, like introducing enemies that block packages instead of just having the rhythm component get more difficult. I appreciate the non-default option there. Would love to see an actual element of rhythm, and a slightly slower difficulty curve, with maybe some plateaus. I know it ain't easy balancing an LD game, but you did a great job!

RELEASE THE MEAT by NuiN 2023-05-06T05:36:42Z

Neat-o! I like the silly touches, pressing M to release the meat and the feeling of having all that meat sloshing around as you gingerly inch down a slope.

It's like solving a maze, mixed with time pressure, Doom-style keycards, and RPG-style progression! Very interesting mashup of genres and ideas. Life got soooo much better after finding the map — maybe that one should be even closer to the start, or just unlocked from the get go. I didn't think I'd like upgrading the turret and running back to man it every so often, but I kinda did! Imagine adding tower defense gameplay into the mix — now we're getting somewhere!

Data Delivery by RPC29 2023-05-04T04:04:39Z

Victory! (I think.)

ss.png

Great work for your first LD! I certainly wasn't making games like this at 15... I especially liked the "repeat" card. I've played games similar to this, but never seen anything like that, and I think you could do all sorts of fun stuff with it. I will say that pausing to reuse cards could start to feel like busywork, or even a little like cheating in certain cases. At the same time, games like this that force you to plan the entire level out ahead of time can feel onerous and boring! I liked how your approach avoided this problem — maybe there's a middle ground that accomplishes the best of both worlds?

Pack It Up by thomaspixelart 2023-05-10T07:21:26Z

What a beautiful, smooth game! Lots of fun touches like the copier respawn point, and a gratuitous number of frames for the boss's animation. Love an LD game with a bit of challenge. Well done, all!

LD54 — Limited Space

LIGHTDANCER by xk_the_name 2023-10-13T20:18:58Z

Beautiful! Getting light from killing enemies is a nice idea, great balance of risk and reward. Feels great to run into the dark, toward an enemy's glowing eyes as the light fades and hit it just as you're about to die. Enjoyed the new mechanics introduced by the final boss as well. Not a ton to criticize: enemies are sometimes able to "hide" inside of trees, so a little AOE on the arrow impact could prevent that — or maybe just have the enemies avoid trees in the first place. Feels good, plays good... good work!

Ishmael by dob 2023-10-10T03:00:41Z

Starting after Moby's first appearance, I found there was very little time for terrain management — is there a better, more hands-off method of getting useable tiles back? Also, my clickin' hand hurts.

Still, I liked the idea! This approach to limited space is a nice fit for tower defense. Or... whatever the manual version of tower defense is. Nice work :)

Ship in a Bubble by Moebius 2023-10-08T01:00:14Z

Cool! Would love to see a twin-stick version of this, though maybe that makes it too easy. I've experimented before with mechanics that punish inaccuracy, and this is a really nice one. Couldn't quite understand the physics of the warp bubble: how projectiles slow down after bouncing and then accelerate. Maybe a simpler, more predictable bounce would have been better for me, though it seems like you were representing some physical phenomenon that went over my head. :)

Hangover Hole by DiscoFish 2023-10-07T06:09:44Z

This was as good as I could do. The enemies were spawning faster than my rate of fire at that point, so not sure anyone could do much better. There was some strange bunching up on the left side that I maybe could have taken better advantage of?

I declare myself the world's most bird-kickin'-est, pic-takin'-est guy. Took me a long time to figure out that the big points are to be gotten from the camera and the bird kicking is kinda incidental. That's a weird sentence. Some kind of combo system would be cool: kick a bunch of birds and get them all in the frame with you for a big multiplier. Very nice for 12 hours!

Ribbon 2 by 100th_Coin 2023-10-06T19:49:06Z

Fun! I liked where you were going with the star-tracing ribbon piece; I guess I better hope for a future LD theme that would allow a Ribbon 3? Y'know, it had never even occurred to me to make a sequel in LD, so thanks for the great idea!

Super cool effects, too. I imagine render textures were involved, but chopping them up on the ribbon and seeing them animate was a piece of game jam magic. Well done!

Terminal Velocity by Roitchie 2023-10-07T06:24:41Z

No Cats! by Raphiell 2023-10-07T06:18:16Z

Those cats sure are slippery! Succeeded in three tries — could I have just hidden in the bathroom with the last cat? Not a very thorough inspection, but that's AI for ya.

Sampler by caeonosphere 2023-10-03T18:07:35Z

@googlypoo Hey, thanks! I’m really glad you were able to get through it and enjoy it. It’s a little cryptic, so I was worried…

@quasilyte Unfortunately I had to be on a plane like 10 hours after the compo deadline, so I only got the one build out — when I get back home I’ll definitely put a web version up on Itch.

Sampler by caeonosphere 2023-10-06T03:34:47Z

@quasilyte Web build is up!

@dovodx I would have loved to add more meat! I gotta learn to prioritize content instead of spending hours on, for example, extremely subtle fake reflections.

Sampler by caeonosphere 2023-10-06T07:51:50Z

@quasilyte Hahahaha, love how you managed to get them out of bounds. You're meant to stack all three on top of each other to solve this one — some kind of tutorial image was next on my todo list when time ran out. If you can make the stack of three and keep the top one still up there for a couple seconds, the door should open.

Sampler by caeonosphere 2023-10-16T17:09:13Z

@local-minimum Ah, encouraging voice lines would be a good idea. The next thing I was going to do before I ran out of time was adding hint images above each door, but VO would be more natural if I could make it clear somehow. (A way to translate some number of voice lines was also in the works...)

Sampler by caeonosphere 2023-10-16T23:36:22Z

@100th-coin Hey, thanks for the video! Man, it pains me to see how confusing everything was... lessons learned about time management this time around. You're right that there is no "good ending"; it got scrapped along with a buncha other stuff at the last minute.

Hellbarrel by allenski 2023-10-06T04:50:00Z

Cool submission! Love the look, reminds me of Monolith. Feels nice to play as well. Agreed with some others that I would have expected clearing the screen of bullets after a death. Having the arena shrinking be the result of player (in)action would be cool too, with some kind of visual feedback to make the claustrophobia all the more visceral.

Laser Grid by MasterProject 2023-10-10T03:46:15Z

Reached wave 42! The simultaneous-hit waves were tricky — definitely would have expected a little more time to think the first time it showed up. Cool time-based twist on the classic laser-mirror puzzle.

Transilvaniawkward by Mastoast 2023-10-10T03:41:20Z

Neat! I liked the way you take what would normally be a grid-based logic puzzle and loosen it up a bit, with offset positions and seating-chart scenarios. I was able to beat all the levels pretty quick without exaaaactly knowing all the rules, or not being able to explain them, exactly. Some kind of onscreen chart could have been helpful?

Thanks for including mouse sensitivity settings! I enjoyed the ability to destroy vast swathes of robocrabs with my shotgun blasts, seemingly dealing more damage the more of them I hit at once. I also enjoyed the claw-snapping animation and sound effect: very charming. I would have liked to see some incentive to vary my strategy away from the obvious "run in a circle" maneuver. The powerups were cool, with the ebb and flow of the arena radius, but I think each phase could stand to be significantly shorter. I also would have appreciated if the enemy spawn rate was in part determined by the player's performance: killing crabs faster means faster crab spawn means faster powerups...

Very nice first jam entry. :)

I also considered doing some kind of tangram puzzle type thing! I enjoyed the variety of shapes and models. It probably could have used one additional mechanic to spice things up, but I can't fault it too much since it's more faithful to the theme than my submission... :P

Prickle by Kultuk 2023-10-13T20:32:53Z

Heyyyy! Love it. Reminiscent of Snakebird, Steven's Sausage Roll, and the rest of the proud Sokoban lineage. Also reminds me of the rotation headaches in Zachtronics games like Spacechem and Infinifactory. Great touch having the pivot point matter, and working the selection of the pivot into the puzzles. Fun music, nice level designs.

It's a beautiful little package, so there's not much to criticize, but a couple things I would have loved to see: - More visual representation of the rotation: which tiles am I passing through as I rotate? Which turns are available to me right now? (I could just try them, sure, but it'd be even nicer just to know.) - Would it be better if the 'hogs were circular? I feel like I could visualize the rotation a little better that way. - A little animation of the 'hogs all scurrying through the door one by one! - More, harder levels, please!

Though on that last note, having made a few level-based LD games myself, I can definitely appreciate what's already here. Congrats, team! :)

Elevators Go Boink by sudocoffee 2023-10-07T06:43:54Z

Ha! A simultaneously obvious and creative concept for the theme. It was fun just trying to keep track of myself in the jumble.

Feng Shui Struggles by Nozomu57 2023-10-23T04:06:54Z

Fun! That L-shaped couch was a nightmare... enjoyed the simplicity of the last level, too. Well done!

Hanabatake by Spica 2023-10-10T02:49:22Z

Huh... when the board increased to 6x6, I was given this board that looks like it has no valid moves to start?

ss.png

This happened to me a couple times. I'll agree with previous commenters who said that a more traditional tutorial would have been best. I also could have used the color cycle displayed at all times — there were some unintuitive color relationships in there. I'm not sure I understood the meaning of the second flower growing in the same tile as already planted flowers? I came away with a lot of questions.

I did like the core mechanic, though: trying to organize your board for score and flexibility. It's a nice, puzzley approach to the theme. I did feel as though the constant resetting of the board was kinda interrupting my flow: some game type that allows you to build more on your previous moves would have worked better for me I think.

I sure do like that ripple of tiles when you place a building.

CaveBots by quasilyte 2023-10-07T05:55:46Z

Fun! Ended up spending way more time with it than I expected. The simple income management and exploration were just enough to sustain the game. I would have appreciated a little more predictability in my units' behavior, especially the vanguards. They seemed to sometimes follow me, sometimes not, and it was hard to coax them to go anywhere. When I finally mounted my attack against the enemies, they refused to stay close enough to my titans and I ultimately lost. Enjoyed the challenge anyway. :)

Would have also appreciated even a simple event feed, just some text in the corner that says when my units are getting destroyed.

LD55 — Summoning

The Omnomicon by nopogo 2024-04-28T02:09:07Z

Very clever to make it so dark: I had to turn the lights off to see anything, and then I was scared! Combining seeds is a nice simple mechanic put to good use. I did have a hard time keeping everything in order — and sometimes clicking on the right thing.

Voir Dire by danman9914 2024-04-19T07:57:23Z

Yep, it's insanely good. Drop-dead simple mechanic, the kind that makes you mad you didn't think of it. The penultimate defendant was perfection. Looks great, sounds great. Keep 'em coming!

Alright, I'm gonna try to compliment stuff no one has complimented you on: * I really like that moving-circles gradient around the summoning circle * Those are some nice looking trees * I like the unique low perspective, haven't felt that short since Katamari Damacy

Well done!

Haunting Harmony by CursedEmbassy 2024-05-02T04:08:34Z

Took me a long time to figure out that pesky sink, but I won eventually! I liked the risk/reward of getting close to the cats to achieve optimal spray penetration. And you even put a totally different game at the end, very rare to see in LD!

Do NOT Summon the Kraken by Willby 2024-04-28T01:44:45Z

Abyss Vaulter by sinclairstrange 2025-04-18T06:54:38Z

I *am* a great adventurer and super player, thank you very much.

Well, this was just freakin' great on all sides. Some nice weapon variety and interesting enemies and environmental effects. Very enjoyable difficulty. I was getting some strong Velgress vibes here, am I crazy? Also: how the heck did you make so many levels?! You had 50% more time than me, but you created like 400% more content. If I had one minor complaint, actually, it'd would be that you could have dropped maybe 1/3 of the levels and packed all the same nice level design ideas packed into the rest.

Also, rocket launcher OP.

The Moon Reconstruction Program by 100th_Coin 2025-04-09T02:06:46Z

Being put on clumping duty got me right back into that Katamari Damacy mindset I enjoy so much. I was being so precious with my shots early on and I have no idea why, but once I figured out that I could spray and pray, I got through it pretty quick. That first boss was my favorite part!

Granny's Gotcha by Joscco 2025-04-14T09:02:43Z

Really liked the logic for how the granny's hand can turn corners and move candy — just wish it were harder and maybe had one more twist to explore these fun mechanics! Most of the levels have the slightly unfortunate property of getting easier with each request as the bag gets emptier and emptier, so the long levels especially feel pretty inevitable. I'd say that only the first candy cane level really put up any kind of challenge.

I also ran into some crashes with pressing Space too quickly/multiple times after completing a level, so very good job implementing saved progress: something that I never find time to do during jams. Very clutch!

@dnp Looks like I had a bug where the glide required a little too much precision. I just posted a version with a fix for this — let me know if you give it another try!

@haokai-xu-1999 The bugfix version also has an OSX build. :)

@christian-zommerfelds

* Yeah, not proud of the keyboard and mouse controls. This was my first time using Unity's "Input System"... definitely a learning process. * The countdown for the glider in the upper left tells you how much time it has left, and there shouldn't be any time after picking it up before you can use it. Maybe there's a bug? * In the level with the lasers, you just have to get past them and then use the little lip to do a walljump-stomp (or just stand on it and jump off):

Obligatory victory screen: dss.png

Very neat! Unique screen-wrapping mechanic and natural extensions of mechanics like short-jumping with the gem and dropping it as you pass under a low ceiling. I do wish that more of the puzzles were "branching": mostly you were stuck until you figured out the move, upon which you immediately progressed.

Detector by AlphaBetaSoup 2025-04-11T04:24:15Z

Neat idea: I assume the "hitboxes" for the chunks are circles? That's what it felt like, anyway — it was fun trying to figure out the shape just by scanning over. Am I crazy, or did the "restart level" button kick me back to the main menu?

Oh no, you lose if you collide with a mine as well? I almost beat Expert... :(

I do find that you tend not to get much information on the first click: some kind of artificial post-hoc generation might make things feel a little smoother. It would also be super cool to only generate solvable puzzles, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

The Way We Left, by Elien Pathcarver by alyd asmar 2025-04-09T05:07:03Z

Wow, I really like the effect of scrolling through the longer vertical illustrations: it creates a surprising feeling of depth even in a browser window. Cool music too. It's an interesting style of choose-your-own-adventure: the choices are quick and snappy, and it gives it a rare urgency and instinctivity, maybe at the cost of feeling totally in control. Nice work, all!

Pogo Dwarf by NTMalichi 2025-04-10T12:39:46Z

Jeez, and I thought my games were hard! I only made it up to the fourth checkpoint or so, whereupon I slid down a slope to my death many times. Can't say I've ever played a game with input quite like this: it requires a unique kind of precision.

Descent by Subsolar 2025-04-15T05:17:31Z

Wow, two games in one! So if I understood things correctly: the longer I took to beat the platforming part of each level, the longer I had to last in the bullet hell part? I really like that idea, though it didn't seem to apply to the endboss. I liked the addition of powerups — I bet there's a whole lot more you could do with this idea, tying the timing of one performance to the next. Well done!

cave2.png

Tricky Wall Jump 2 was definitely the hardest of the bunch. That last jump, man, I'm still not sure how I did it. Coyote frames, input buffering, I really missed these when they were gone. The tiny bit of leniency I'd ask for is this typical platformer thing:

cave3.png

where if you're moving away from a spiky surface, they don't damage you, like when you're trying to jump around a spiky corner like this. But anyway, super fun game! Nice work!

SIRTET by Airgameboys 2025-04-09T11:10:26Z

tet.png

I gotta give it up: I didn't think I ever wanted to play another "what if Tetris, but..." game in my whole life, but this is clever as hell. Great concept, great fit for the theme.

I kept going back and forth as I was playing: is this just Tetris? Like, does it have the same strategy as Tetris, just with a different perspective? No way, right? I mean, you can phase your pieces through the board. And I feel like I'm much better at this game than I am at Tetris. But then why do some moves *feel* just like Tetris?! This game's like a Zen koan and a magic trick at the same time.

SIRTET by Airgameboys 2025-04-09T11:23:28Z

@airgameboys Yeah, I only realized there was a Hold when I looked at my own screenshot. I thought I could try to pass it off as a flex instead of ignorance. :D

Oh, you know what would be cool? If you were allowed to create disconnected pieces, but only if they're the exact shape of a Tetris piece, and then you could get even more points by getting rid of it.

Having Fun Yet? by NoahRo 2025-10-07T05:56:30Z

Whoa, that's a crazy camera. It looks like it gets more extreme the longer the game runs, even if you start a new game, so I was restarting the whole game in between runs.

I like the core concept! It would be cool if you could more reliably ricochet the bullet between enemies.

Couldn't find that pesky last one, but I'm counting this as a win. :) I had fun figuring out how to exploit the AI to win, and it also felt like cheating — in a funny way — to pick marbles up off the ground and wager those for the cooler ones. The character designs were also very charming. Well done!

I do wish there was a little more to the actual marble gameplay, since once I figured out the winning strategy, it was just a matter of repeating it. Even just randomizing where you and the opponent spawn could help.

Does it stop getting harder after a while? I made it to 8000 and felt like I could have kept going for a long, long time. Great job! It feels like a complete browser game, very nice for 48 hours. I agree with some of the points that have already been made: swapping the left and right halves of the game and the length of the memory card flip animation. Also, it would be cool if you got a bonus for completing a memory board, since it feels like quite the accomplishment. Also, do the rabbits start coming faster than the player's rate of fire? It seemed like it, at the end. Their spawn rate should probably asymptotically approach the base fire rate.

I got 1450 points!

STEREOtype by caeonosphere 2018-04-23T03:57:22Z

Thanks! The game really is too hard. None of my friends who tested it could make it very far. I'm just glad to hear it worked!

STEREOtype by caeonosphere 2018-04-23T05:14:12Z

@BlackAtlas yeah, that's a good idea. Maybe for STEREOtype Deluxe!

STEREOtype by caeonosphere 2018-04-24T01:18:54Z

@equa: Yeah, you're right. I had planned on adding a mechanic that gives you a life back if you complete a section without messing up, but I ran out of time... and it seems a little too much to add to the compo version after the fact.

STEREOtype by caeonosphere 2018-04-24T06:08:35Z

@Gamekrazzy: I'm surprised to not be hearing this more often, since I've only got the one computer to test on and I wasn't feeling very confident about the accuracy of the audio library. Maybe one day a version will come out that you can enjoy.

STEREOtype by caeonosphere 2018-04-25T07:48:43Z

@TinyCastleGuy: In terms of time investment, I went all-in on generated music, not fully appreciating how difficult it was going to be. In hindsight, I could have gotten a lot out of a little composition. A good lesson for next time!

STEREOtype by caeonosphere 2018-04-27T06:42:42Z

@issac: Definitely agree on the first point. I'll probably add that in shortly. Re: the second point... I worry that it would make the game more about watching the beat indicator (like a normal rhythm game) than about listening to the beat. Maybe the graphics for the rest measures could include a representation of the beat so you at least have a chance to see it.

@radical-dog: Thanks! I'm thrilled. I hadn't planned on giving this another thought, but given the results, I might have to reconsider.

AsteroidCraft by schsam 2018-04-23T06:55:47Z

Greatly exceeded my expectations from the screenshot. I'd love to see what a more elaborate version of this looks like!

Love the voices and the chase cam!

Arcade Typing Shooter by Badical 2018-04-23T04:38:13Z

What unique music! :D

I like the mechanic where you get bonus points for hitting the letter with the right gun. It ends up being quite a lot to keep track of! It would be cool if bullets went away once they hit a target, so you don't accidentally hit two when they overlap.

Zlornko Teaches Typing by katie 2018-04-23T07:10:51Z

By some miracle, I got 476 points. Great idea!

LD59 — Signal

Beams of Bermuda by blinry 2026-04-21T20:20:36Z

Great interpretation of the theme! I definitely underestimated the difficulty of that last level, and many lives were lost. It may go down as one of the worst maritime disasters of all time. jksjk.png

Red Rat by pragmascript 2026-04-24T04:02:29Z

Ohhh, I get it... rat. Very good.

I liked it! It reminds me of a game I made for a past LD, but with a healthier amount of content. I liked the look; you did a lot with a little. Great job!

AIST: Absolutely Irrational Sapper Technology by chakramgl 2026-04-24T02:41:04Z

Ah, another twin-stick shooter! I liked the RGB mechanic: to avoid having to remember where I was, I always tried to stay on green and then switch back. Was there anything to be done about the colorless enemy that shows up, or is it invincible?

Winnerman Scams a Game Show by 100th_Coin 2026-04-22T06:28:02Z

Like many others, and like I have before, I'm wondering how the hell you pulled this one off...

Metric Relay by xotraz 2026-04-22T07:47:57Z

Very solid! Is this a studied problem in graph theory or something? If you came up with it during the jam, I'm impressed. It makes for an interesting puzzle: I did about 40 or so.

Some of the early levels (row of boxes, triangle fan) are pretty repetitive; that's maybe where the downsides of generated levels become evident. I'd say that the main problem, though, is UX. It can be kinda hard to tell at a glance why certain nodes have the same signature: maybe each beacon could have its own color, and then when you hover over a node it could tell you the distances to each node.

Signal Drift by kpded 2026-04-24T10:22:58Z

Neat idea! I found that I was mostly just going for the closest spaceship and repeatedly ignoring the farther ones, even after the screen zoomed out a couple times: it would be more challenging if you had to deliver signals simultaneously instead of just taking care of them one at a time.

And yes, the music did start driving me insane... :D

Dr. Cool Whale Against The Electronicles by Yorsh 2026-04-25T07:00:39Z

Hey, this is great! What an interesting idea to take a part of the input that wouldn't normally be used in this control scheme and turn it into the central mechanic. I also appreciate the creative upgrades, instead of just flat damage increases. I only managed 215 after quite a few tries. Those radios are just too damn tanky...

Pulse by caeonosphere 2026-04-21T04:14:49Z

Switched over to web build, which:

@wo-ri-gou-le @xotraz added keyboard support, and

@richard-baltrusch should fix the right joystick for non-Xbox controllers.

Thanks for playing! :D

Pulse by caeonosphere 2026-04-22T17:48:13Z

@100th-coin Thanks for the video! You found the strategy real quick. As you noticed at the end there, it does kinda have an exponential difficulty curve where wave 13 is hard and 15 is pretty much impossible. Wasn't able to figure out how to solve that in time :)

I wonder why your controller didn't work? I'm using Unity's "new" input system that claims to fix all those pesky issues. Ah well.

Pulse by caeonosphere 2026-04-24T06:31:14Z

@bentglasstube Thanks... and yes, sorry about the difficulty. After 18 of these, I still cannot figure out how not to do that.

Pulse by caeonosphere 2026-04-26T00:52:51Z

@maksim-terskov @smolbigby Re: tanky enemies, out of curiosity, did you notice the mechanic where you deal more damage if you shoot from inside a wave to the outside?

Cadence of Glob by Orjan 2026-04-24T01:33:16Z

Agh, I got 4420! So close. I liked the music the most, I think, which is a good category to get for a rhythm game! :)

Module Overload by YurisCat 2026-04-25T23:20:09Z

Dang, I thought I did pretty well with 80... I liked the variety! I've seen similar concepts, of course, where you're playing multiple games at the same time, but the configurable grid with the modifiers was a nice, chunky addition.

Signal Surfer by hulien22 2026-04-24T06:49:15Z

This is hilarious. I just wanted you to see that someone at least beat a level, even if that someone had to unplug their fridge to reduce the background noise so the game could hear them. Planning on playing more at a more singing-appropriate time of day.

PINGRIMAGE_ by Prismapunch 2026-04-25T06:13:01Z

A puzzle with an RTS-style interface, very interesting! Maybe you'd already tried this and thought it made the game too easy: I would have liked a preview of whether two robots were in signal range of each other. I agree with Sam above me, that the 3 attempt limit doesn't have a clear purpose. I was also getting false "you failed" popups right before succeeding on the third try. I did like the levels divided by topology!

Dot Dash Mash by chybby 2026-04-22T08:42:35Z

I won, and it would appear that I am... an All Star?

This was hard as hell, even as a Picross fan! Really liked the twists: the inversion of rows, and of course the whole thing being all "1" and "2+" clues. I definitely used trial and error in a couple spots, and I assume that's needed? Pretty hard to avoid that, all within 72 hours.

Well done, fellas!

Cute cute! I had to Google an acronym, but I think I know what's going on here. I still felt bad for the poor octopus, though... :(

We need to send a signal: you are not welcome here by ZombieWalrus 2026-04-24T01:11:07Z

Saved 3.7 billion: a healthy enough population to start things over again. My job here is done.

We need to send a signal: you are not welcome here by ZombieWalrus 2026-04-24T01:11:07Z

Fun game! Would be cool if you could overlap the signal with multiple enemies to damage them all at once and reward tracking clusters of enemies more.

LiliesPond by wo_ri_gou_le 2026-04-22T07:35:47Z

I wasn't totally sure what I was and wasn't supposed to do, so I kinda made up my own rules! An interesting experience. Amen!

ECHO by Ray Dino 2026-04-24T09:42:55Z

Since you toughed it out on my tough game, I was determined to post a new high score here, and, well...

bat.png

This game is fun! And it shares a lot in common with a previous LD game of mine also called Echo, if you can believe it. :)

Lost Crab in the Great Sand Labyrinth by Alpaca 2026-04-25T23:07:59Z

No comments section is complete without one of these:

Like some other commenters, I think the connection to the theme could have been stronger. But also like many commenters, I think it's a nicely executed puzzle. The funky little crab walk groove creates a nice vibe. Would love to this expanded with more mechanics!

Jester’s Vesper by stisdan 2026-04-26T03:50:18Z

I won! Reminiscent of Dice with Death — what's the utility of the d20s? For a while I thought that the total value of the dice was affecting damage, but as far as I could tell, it was just the different "hands."

Hello? Hello!? You've got no signal there! by rainot 2026-04-24T10:30:32Z

The audio is very cute. And that static: I know you're just crumpling a chip bag! Can't fool me!

I got 250 before giving up: really the "aliens" event was the only one that had a chance of hitting me. Some kind of logic to prevent getting the same event twice in a row (or 4 times, as I did) would have been a nice last thing to sneak in. :)

i love you, too by tolviere 2026-04-24T01:21:13Z

The speed knob was a nice addition to an otherwise pretty simple matching exercise. Call me masochistic, but introducing even more knobs toward the end would have spiced things up!
