I love games where you build stuff so I love this game. Nicely done! Music is jammin' too.

I'm used to rotate things in games on 'R' key, so I constantly kept on resetting my levels. Why is it meat that we deliver?
@mitchell-j :)
@kosmik123 the original idea was that you were the first ever delivery caveman that pulled a cart to the delivery point, thats why its meat lol
Fun Game, nice work!
@duobonza thanks man
Really enjoy how this game is put together. Having the chance to experiment with the physics after building your cart is just a really good time. Fits the theme perfectly and is overall very fun! The graphics are simple but fit together quite well. Great work.
@trevor-lentz <3 thank you
Wasn't sure what to expect based on the screenshots, but this ended up being my favorite game so far. I was able to beat all 4 levels with a variety of cart designs. Really creative and fun game.
@cody-raethke makin me blush bro thank you
This is very fun and well executed. Rather polished too. An absolutely great entry for your first game jam! It's my first as well, and I'm quite jealous of what you made here. :heart_eyes:
Building weird meat carts is fun. Visuals are kind of funky, but it also fits the funky gameplay. Well done!
Pretty fun overall! Some "Bad Piggies" vibes. Did you expect "strange machines" theme to win as well? :D
The game could use a lot of UX improvements though. Here's some of them:
- When you buy a new part, add it to cursor instead of thrwoing on the scene. - Don't reset angle of the part when you pick it up. - Show when the part will be attached BEFORE you release left mouse button, so I know if this position fits - Hints about selling items or easier way (for brain) to sell items. Didn't know about ability to sell before I came here to write a review. - Camera doesn't work very good on down-hill levels (you can't see where you are going). Probably adding separate part for centering the camera would be a nice easy solution. - Using the same button for jumping and starting the level doesn't seems like a good idea, would be nice to have separate ones. - Meat Dropping button is "M", which is not handy at all. I understand, that "M" stands for Meat, although it would be much better to have something closer to WASD (like R or F). Or a way to open the Meat Gates with the mouse. - Saving the previous machine on "restart" would be much better than building it evey time from scratch. That way I wouldn't have to rebuild the whole machine just to change 1 part position.
The game lacked some meta progression and star-system, because I didn't see the reason to deliver more meat than required, and it was a little bit frustrating seing how the level ends before I deliver all the meat.
Style of the meat is nice, machine and first level style seems ok, eveything else (later levels, finish "room" and some other stuff) doesn't look very good imo, although it gets the job done, so...
Also there's pretty annoying bug that doesn't count conneted blocks as connected, so you have to re-install it (and since the angle doesn't save, you have to start over with the angle)
Anyway I had fun playing it, although dropped it on the level with abyss holes. If the UX was better, I would continue playing for sure, because it would take much less time to build a new engine (like x3-x4 less time and much more enjoyible). Congratz with your first game here btw :)
@jakeblake thanks man
@danmerey thanks for playing, great review. I was going to add/fix alot of the things mentioned. I tried for like 2 hours to make the cart saveable, but the wheels would always just bug out, something with unity wheel joints I have no clue. Originally it was going to be one level, and you try to deliver as much as possible and get money to buy more upgrades, but had to save time by turning it into a simple level system. I would continue working on it and fix it up, but I made the code so fast and so shittily that it actually made it harder to implement and fix stuff than if I had spent more time on making the code good. Your game looks really cool
Most fun game I've played from the jam so far!
Created some really interesting cart designs that I wish I had saved.
Awesome work!
@ismael-rodriguez thanks for playing
@poboy wow thank you
This is amazing!! Loved everything about this! Such a well polished game, and great execution. Music was so catchy too
@jag :)
MEAT! This is my fav so far I think. So fun and addictive. I love these kinda crafty-machine building games. AS others have said it could do with some UX polish but this is super good. I only wish there were more levels!
mmm i don't know engineering so i keep making long beds with wheels and they're mostly okay but the final level... it was getting pretty old having to make the cart from scratch again and again. I finished stage 3 by yeeting the cart into the goal, not driving it lmao. Fun factor was definitely felt but was kinda weighed down some tedium. I think the two features I'd wishlist is remembering the last cart design, and also an auto-restart if the number of meat is less than goal. releasemeat1.png yes it worked.
Nice game! I really like to build things like that.
Don't reset angle of the part when you pick it up will be better~
@cloistered Thanks for the rating, the reason I made it reset rotation is because if something is on the ground and not perfectly straight, it was impossible to get the rotation to be perfect after you picked it up. Idk if that makes sense but yeah
@shreemp Haha yeah the third level is my favourite because you kinda have to just yeet it down and pray, it's what I intended :) . I did try really hard to make a cart saving system, but something with the wheel joints was buggy and it didn't work out unfortunately.
Very interesting gameplay!
hey uh... have you tried building a car only out of wheels? highly recommend *:)* this was actually my favorite game yet on the jam ~ really really impressive you did this all yourself, feels super polished! seems like you should try out Compo next, I'd love to see what you make
@ha-kuro have you tried making one out of only pistons? lol. Thank you so much, I will definitely try the compo, but I'm glad I didnt for this one because my code is so ass and I really dont want people looking at it :skull:
This is great and lots of good feedback in other comments too.
What I found myself wanting most is the ability to move faster. I wanted to be a be able to push my luck and try finish the levels faster. :smile:
cart-meat.png
I'm no engineer but I absolutely loved messing around with this, I could easily sit here for an hour or so trying to make the most ludicrous vehicles :smile:
A wonderful art design that harmonizes with the concept. I love physics puzzles, so it was very enjoyable. If I were to make a suggestion, I would like a system where the cart is retained when resetting with R. For example: R to reset while keeping the cart, and Shift+R to reset including the cart.
This remind me 'bad piggies'. I plaied it more time than I expected. Great job for a great game.
This is a really impressive entry to have made by yourself. Really well done! Honestly not many notes I have, except for a game named "release the meat" I expected something a little more gnarly! :D
A really interesting an creative concept! The music was a bit sober and sad for me. It would've been nice if the part appeared on my mouse cursor when I bought it.
Incredible for a first try. I like how you have to control such an important part of the game!
The most creative game I've played so far! The build system brought so much complexity to the game. I wander if I can save and load my previous cart build.
@frelude I've actually never played it but it does look very similar haha
@weirdbitgames Yeah I was just rushing to find some free music to add, I used an AI to make an absolute musical masterpiece that was perfect but the site didn't work so I lost it :(
@zephyr19 I tried really hard to add that but it just didn't work out unfortunately, might remake it with actually functional code
@apirei thank you :)
That's a very original concept ! it's rare to see this kind of game for that short ammount of time. I had a lot of fun playing this, trying to make the weirdest vehicles possible and messing around with that kind of wacky physics :)
Nice idea and nice implementation!
@rezioz @vantos3001 <3
Very impressive! Tight gameplay, cool music and good graphism! Just wished there were a vegan version :D Congratulations!
Really creative and addictive game, had loads of fun building different contraptions.
I agree with pretty much everything @danmerey said. This is a very good entry and since I like these kind of games I enjoyed it a lot. With a couple of the already suggested tweaks, this would be great
@tennotako lol thanks
@sbeif might remake it, thanks for playing
This game rules! But as a previous commenter said, more incentive to deliver more meat would be great. Im still stuck on lvl 3, but I love it. The parts going off screen was a bit of a bug(during buying), and id love to be able to tweak my design rather than completely rebuild it if it fails. Great job!
@ryan-wine did they go off screen like roll of the screen horizontally?
@nuin i believe i put them in the ground because i didnt read the instructions and thought that was how you sold stuff(ala kerbal)
@ryan-wine oh lol i didnt think about that
Physics simulators are endless fun! Great game, I bet it was really fun coming up with the level designs!
@binroot <3
i just made a super long boi to beat the end without actuators. i had to have it climb up the starting wall to get the meat. The collider on the ceiling isnt active
@ryan-wine yeah I had an issue with having the parts spawn in the ceiling and getting stuck so i removed the collision, there would have been a better fix but I was too rushed
wow great game, tons of fun and really well made! I do wish that I could revise my cart design instead of having to recreate it each time. Good job!
The funniest game I tried!! You got it so right! hahha. I wish I could start with my previous setup. Also, sometimes my setup started with some parts missing. Besides this, it was a really nice experience playing it
Fantastic entry! It takes great courage to make a game where players build stuff, i applaude you 100%. My first 5/5 for fun and overall :)
You've got some great physics in here with minute to learn mechanics (though I definitely haven't mastered them). I may or may not be declaring "Release the Meat" out loud in every stage. Hopefully, I don't play this game in public.
@dgo @cabjhegas @blue-pin-studio thank you :)
@hwaet please dont release your meat in public
Great pick for music. That music SLAPS. Love how simple build parts can make really wacky contraptions, saw a few friends play this game with me and the different solutions they came up with were wild!
The feedback I have is to allow the player to edit their previous build when restarting. Sometimes I just want to tweak my current build a little bit before trying again and I don't want to rebuild it again from scratch.
Awesome entry, great job!
This game is so funny. Very interesting gameplay and its really great.
I was laughing my ass off for like 30 minutes, 10/10.
This was a ton of fun! We played this on stream and were engaged for a good 30 minutes, maybe more.
The levels get very challenging in a good way. Was a total nail-biter getting over the finish on the final level.
Such a cool concept to see in a game jam, unlike any of the other games I played so far.
@protowlf @loveschach thanks guys <3
I'll get that last one, just you wait.
Very interesting mechanics! I like how that the terrain changes to force me to make different vehicle designs. Biggest wish is to let me restart with the same vehicle instead of from scratch. I also thought that putting the vehicle in reverse felt pretty weird, sometimes it would just flip my vehicle and I couldn't figure out why. Anyway, super cool! :)
Really fun game!! Reminds me of a game called Coconut Run. It's simple but works really well :smile:
Also, I don't think I'm an engeneer huh :dizzy_face:
image.png
Nice game! Through the five (four?) levels that the game had, I ended up making a different vehicle every time. For a game that didn't limit what I built at all, that's really impressive! It speaks to the level design. I really liked how the falling level and the end level pushed against your assumptions and forced you to design *for* them. I think that the game misses a little though, with a lack of limitations. If certain levels restricted the type / number of parts you could use, that would be more interesting to me at least. For QOL, I would have liked to be able to restart and modify my vehicle instead of having to start from scratch every time. It would have also been nice to know why I was shipping meat. I've heard an explanation now but when I was playing the game I was sort of confused. Either way, it was a lot of fun! Good job :)
@aurailus :)
@thomaspixelart that design is genius what are you talking about :)
I'm curious. Witch engine did you use to implement this physics?
@moogoblin Its just default unity physics with tweaked gravity. I think unity uses Box2D for 2D physics
Oh! At first sight I thought it was construct 3. Nice job btw! Thanks!
@thomaspixelart Oh wow I just checked out Coconut Run and it's literally the exact same thing, I've never heard of it though haha
Thanks for including the instructions as you played the game. Those instructions were helpful.
Very cool game, awesome job!
had a lot of fun playing. It ended too quickly!
Great game, I wish I could see the level first otherwise I don't really know what to build at first.
@markais yep I agree, didn't have time for that
AYYY THATS MY SONG :heart_eyes: :heart_eyes: I came here from your comment on my Pixabay submission for the music you're using here, I'm so stoked to see it being used on actual projects JKDJDS thank you.
So the game! This is a hilarious idea. I loved playing Bad Piggies as a kid and this is quite similar, it's super fun to build a machine and try to get your meat trolley to the end and when it works it's super satisfying. Unfortunately I got stuck on level 3, had no idea how to get past the fall without turning into a snowball. It was kinda frustrating having to rebuild my machine from scratch every time too, :/ I feel like iterating on your designs is part of the fun of these games, so having to rebuild it all from the beginning feels like busywork. Nevertheless, this was still super charming!
@fupi Haha nice to see you here, everyone loves your song. I did try to add a cart saving system but didn't have enough time in the end. Thanks for playing <3
This is incredible. Great design and super funny. Loved the trial and error process. Seriously nice work!
@picross thanks :) your game is one of my favorites
@nuin Likewise! I sent this to all my friends, we think the game's hilarious :D
@picross :)
This is a really fun puzzle game. I think it definitely has some potential to be expanded into something bigger too. Had a great time with this, nice work on it :)
Sometimes the physics felt a bit jittery/buggy, but it didn't affect things too much.
I agree that it reminded me of Bad Piggies, which I have good memories of.
@python-b5 I hopefully will remake it, thanks for playing :)
I love this kind of physics puzzle builder, and had a lot of fun playing all the levels! "Press M to release the meat" is definitely one of the funniest sentences I've read. Overall, it looks like all the feedback I had has been said, the biggest things I noticed was the camera in some levels, and the car was somewhat difficult to get back under control once it started spiraling. Other than that, amazing job!
Interesting concept. Not for vegans, though)
I really enjoyed making abominati- masterpieces in this game! It is hilarious when you fail and satisfying when you succeed. Loved it.
This is awesome. Was afraid that it would be too easy, but then I got to the uphill stage lol. Loved making the cars. Didn't complete the last stage but I tried for a long time. Felt like I was very close on a few attempts, I just had to make a tiny adjustment. Wish I didn't have to rebuild the car from scratch every time. Also, I completely missed the hint to sell items. I tried to sell them by dragging them back into the buttons but when that didn't work I assumed you couldn't sell (then I read the comments)
@ardorugus I'll make a vegan toggle dont worry
@jatinstic-gaming Thank you haha
@helekopeter Yeah its pretty annoying making the car over and over. I did actually show selling in the tutorial, but most people also missed it haha
@adam-gallina Yeah ideally the camera would scale with the size of your cart, thanks for playing :)
This is very cool. I'm impressed it's your first jam. This is the type of game that the one kid at school finds on newgrounds and every gets temporarily obsessed with. Keep it up buddy!
@cinterre I loved/love those kinda games haha
This game was fantastic. If you’re interested in my feedback here is a VOD of me playing it: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1811761064
@weeping-rupee cool thanks for playing haha
That was actually quite a bit of fun. It was nice trying to customize the vehicle for each level. I've always enjoyed these cart/vehicle builder type of games. It took me a while to finish the 2nd half of the levels but I think the balance of difficulty was good. There were some pretty funny moments with some of my carts too lol.
This is simply gorgeous. This is no question my favorite game this jam and it's not even close. I just loved building the cars and try to fight the physics. One thing, though, is that I spent so much time in this game, that I got sick of the background song and there weren't any other sounds that could distract me from it.
@tommy-moua lol thanks for the comment
@skelleroznik yeah no time for audio unforunately, really cool that its your fave game haha thank you
Really fun! Great take on the theme. The fact that you have to load the cart at the beginning by dumping the meat into it is a really clever way to prevent players from coming up with degenerate/broken cart designs, since they'll always need a fairly large opening near the top. I enjoyed having tons of money to play around with on the last level. One of my favorites!
@mediflect yeah i was struggling with that for a while until my brain randomly came up with the idea at 2am lol, thank you :)
Neat-o! I like the silly touches, pressing M to release the meat and the feeling of having all that meat sloshing around as you gingerly inch down a slope.
@caeonosphere bros writing a fan fiction 😳
I played this on stream, really cool little physics sandbox - I kid, kind of! I gave some UX feedback there and it seems you've gotten a bunch here, but aside from that the game's really solid. A bit more stability in the physics would go a long way, as would the ability to see the level before starting.
hi! you submitted this game on my stream and I played through it :)
here's a link to the VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1812705828?t=3h59m17s
Usually I an getting frustated in physics based games, but this one is really fun. Maybe because it's not so random. I could easly say what i did wrong and where is place for improvement in my cart. Music has wonderful retro vibe<3 And why the meat????
Great game! I played way longer than I intended! This was a very creative use of the theme!
I would have been nice to preview the level a little bit, or to at least start from the same template if you restart with a clear button if you want to completely redesign. Some descriptions of what the different parts are would also be helpful, although I guess part of the fun is discovering it.
I was really into the idea that I was a caveman making all of these deliveries. That aesthetic was really neat and I think you could take it somewhere! This style of game definitely has a tried and true formula, but I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with if you take to full release! GG on a great jam!
I enjoyed that a lot, you should defo develop this further!
I really enjoyed this fun physics based game!(although a little bit too hard for me)
@badcop haha your designs were crazy
@dahliainosensu thank you :), the og idea was that you are a caveman delivering meat lol
@nsadie yeah its all on the list, thanks for playing :)
@conduit <3
@ciderpunk thank you, I will
@projectcolorball damn where did you get stuck
Im playing with track pad T_T
@projectcolorball skill issue 😔 didnt think about that until i tried playing on my laptop after it was already submitted lol
@projectcolorball were you still able to rotate parts or was it just really tedious
It is pretty hard.... but I can try
super creative! would love some backstory on why we're delivering meat for cavemen
Super fun, would love to see future updates with more levels, saving carts, etc.
@harrison-jones planning on it :)
yo @nuin, youre the one who got 16 on Packagepunk right? We do run a tournament for getting high scores on LD games, the next one is next saturday May 13th, you should join our discord if youre interested https://discord.gg/925KmX8bam
Thanks for submitting your game on the stream! Here’s the stream if you wanted to re-watch initial thoughts (timestamps in the description to jump to your game!) [youtube link](youtu.be/jljB3XXZHcg)
@lomby thanks for playing :)
Such a simple yet elegant game! Brilliant idea and implementation!
@solidhinken <3
Great game! It works on my Mac without issue :) The issues I did run into were entirely game play - the rotating and sticking together was extremely frustrating. I put it where I wanted it, rotated in the right way, I click and it sticks into place, but is not attached, and then the next click resets the piece to the mouse horizonally. It made building far more of a chore when every piece takes 10-20 tries before it "sticks". Solid idea and game play!
Awesome job on this! I couldn't get past level three for the life of me, but it was still very fun and satisfying!
@jaxah that might be an issue with the mac build, that doesnt happen very often on windows
@jaxah do web builds work on mac? could you try that and see if its any better?
Building a machine to transport your meat trolley to the end of each level is super fun, and when you finally get it right, it's super satisfying. I did get stuck on level 3, though, and found it frustrating having to rebuild my machine from scratch every time. But hey, that's part of the challenge, right? The physics can be a bit buggy, but it doesn't affect things too much. Overall, I had a great time with this game and think it has potential to be expanded even further.
@justinsix thank you :) im working on remaking it right now
Super impressive to have a physics system like this implemented in a game jam. Nice job, fits the theme really well!
Oh I love this! Level names spoiled the main challenge but still required to restart couple times. This definitely needs more levels and more contraptions. :meat_on_bone: :meat_on_bone: :meat_on_bone:
Here is my playthrough:
https://youtu.be/Uv1lpyM7dR8
The engineering of my meat wagon is supreme
I would have liked the keyboard to be adapted to other languages (the M key is not in the same place on my keyboard, the new unity input system can be used) Apart from that it's quite fun, having the possibility of building your vehicle like a sandbox with management game mechanics and evolutions is quite well thought out. good entry !
@nyanpierre have not used the new input system and didn't know that was an issue, thanks for telling me
OMGGG This game is incredible! My only suggestion would be to save the cart you make between restarts :D And I the music SLAPS. MORE COWBELL LETS GO
this is absolutely fantastic!
I can't believe you managed to get the entire physics based simulation WITH building all in within 72 hours.
Fantastic job! You did amazing :D
@d3kryption @daveco thank you :)
Very reminiscent of Fantastic Contraption (which I played A... LOT...). Very entertaining game. Simple physics, and understandable rules to how things work. I really wish that hitting R to restart didn't force me to rebuild my entire vehicle. I ended up not finishing "The End" because I got very fatigued trying to rebuild my cart with a small adjustment. Outside of that, this game was great. Very enjoyable. I'll probably come back after I take a break.
@bitdecay im currently remaking it but better (i hope)
This is beatiful...
Damn good choice of music (I nearly cried). This game is mad fun and hilarious. btw I passed the last level
Super great job!
