LD53 — Delivery

Thats So Punny by recursor 2023-05-08T19:56:05Z

Like others have said, the polish is very nice. The introduction was short, sweet, and to the point. The music and audio were perfectly matched with the tone of the game.

What do you call fellow devs who enjoyed That's So Punny during this game jam?

Jelly ;)

Trebuchet Post by zgragselus 2023-05-04T23:58:57Z

I really enjoyed how the world loads in objects and how it plays. Frame-rate was very smooth for me, and it's more difficult than I expected. Very impressive graphics for a jam game. :) Well done.

Dwarven Delivery Service by furry-fire 2023-05-03T00:13:50Z

Dwarven Delivery Service really gives me "Worms" vibes/nostalgia. The end cannon piece was really cool and it was an overall good time. Feels a bit empty without music, but I would definitely recommend. :)

Frogwarts Delivery Service by ildfuglen 2023-05-07T18:34:47Z

Pretty fun flight controls and very smooth to play. I don't know why these wizards don't like owls, but they killed me enough times. XD The visuals are nice, but I wish the music had more organic sounds. Well done. :)

The Clockwork Express by dxk2294 2023-05-11T23:37:28Z

I really enjoy the controls, but wish the character moved a bit faster. The speed at which enemy ships arrive seems a bit overwhelming, even in the first level. The mechanics here are very solid, shoot different package types at target vessels, repair damage, use gun turrets for enemies. Would love to have had a sound for ships getting shot down. The music was pleasant and matched the game quite well. Nice work. :)

The Nearsighted Mailman by ick 2023-05-12T02:24:47Z

I really enjoyed the way it started out slow to let me get used to the controls. The sounds were pretty basic, but fit perfectly with the art style (very impressive for a compo game!!). Every time I went faster, I regretted it! Since I am quite nearsighted... makes perfect sense from my experience! It would be awesome to introduce a "squint" mechanic (not easy to implement) to get a clearer view for a short period of time before you go back to the standard view. This is one of the few compo games that I really enjoyed. Cheers. :)

Pizzapocalypse by professor 2023-05-03T01:57:15Z

Really enjoyed the movement and responsiveness of the controls. I killed a civilian my first time, but had a blast putting those zombies down. Would have loved to see a quarantine border on the edges of the map, but for a jam, it's great. :)

The Souls Express by antvelm 2023-05-12T02:04:42Z

The music, mood, and visuals are freaking awesome.

I wish the camera was placed a bit higher looking down for viewing my character's location relative to other models. Movement speed is a bit too slow to my liking, even though the music made this nitpick less irritating β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«. Indication of how to be able to get to another location would be appreciated within the UI via objectives or anything visual to represent any wall to progress.

This entry is a very impressive atmospheric experience that could be built into something more. :) 72 hours goes by too quickly! :) I imagine a fully developed version with voice acting for characters, more dialogue, creating even more immersion into the world you've created so far.

Baby Boom by Whirlwind 2023-05-02T18:45:19Z

Very neat concept here. Using lullaby music fits the theme well, but in in my opinion, it's a bit too loud. A simple drum beat would probably help players hit the beat just right, then again, lullabies don't typically have drums. XD Nice work.

Penguin Chef by Frey 2023-05-02T16:49:49Z

I really like the penguin animation, it reminds me a bit of castle crashers. :) Seems pretty difficult to get an ingredient unstuck from the edge, but there's enough items to cook, so it's not too much of a problem. Well done.

Uber Driver by CedarBishop 2023-05-03T02:11:04Z

Really enjoyed driving around in the space. The synth music flowed well with the experience. I tried running over the customer out of my sick curious mind XD No wonder there's no safety regulation on these futuristic roads. :)

Wish that reverse was quicker to respond, but the cruise control style acceleration was a nice way to handle the speed.

Viking Delivery by GreenData 2023-05-07T17:12:30Z

It would have been cool to see the ship show a down and up facing sprite when moving in those directions. The music wasn't half bad for a team without a music/sfx producer. :)

Fast Pack: Quick Delivery Training Program by helekopeter 2023-05-03T03:35:21Z

The driving, map, and movement is really intuitive. I found the music shifting speed/pitch relative to the delivery vehicle to be a bit weird at the start, but considering the addresses used in the game, it's interesting. While it might not be realistic, it would be more fun IMO, for the road category to be color coded into the packages. This would make the sorting process less hectic. Just my two cents. The level of detail in this game, for this challenge, is insane. Very well executed within the theme, and I enjoyed exploring the world within the rules established. :)

Cold Pizza by Cole Hutson 2023-05-07T17:59:23Z

I didn't realize that you could place signs outside of the delivery zones until failing level 3 a few times XD. I found the gameplay pretty enjoyable and the level design very well executed. A few sounds and music would be a welcome addition, if you iterate upon what you've built so far. :)

CURSED DE-LIVERY πŸ’€ by Usenrame 2023-05-12T00:27:25Z

Very interesting concept. Loved the atmosphere, controls, and graphics. I'm glad I read the comments before sitting there the whole time. IMO, for a jam game, this is brilliant. I will follow your comment aimed at @tinykidtoo and keep such secrets. XD

Pizza Delivery by Codexzier 2023-05-08T20:23:58Z

Game-play music is a bit too loud in my opinion, and would be nice if it was longer with a little more variation, but it matches the visuals quite well. The menu song seems quite foreboding for a tropical island pizza delivery game, but that's very subjective. XD I really enjoyed the island setting and sprites. Nice work.

Delivery Dash by Random Ideation Studios 2023-05-08T19:34:15Z

The death sound loops in a scary way. Movement is an interesting mechanic that was fun to play around with. The collision with harmful objects felt a bit unforgiving, but overall a cool entry. :)

Grab N' Dash by kyboon 2023-05-07T16:59:12Z

Like others have stated, I would have enjoyed having the controls be with one hand key combination. Overall, a simple & fun game that is very intuitive when it comes to the rules/game-play implemented. All the sprites are pleasant to view and match very well. Nicely done. :)

Careless Couriers by python-b5 2023-05-05T00:08:50Z

Music and art are great, but the controls feel sluggish and too difficult. I like the layout of the city but the amount of things to crash into are far too frequent to enjoy.

Deliverables - LD53 by potkirland 2023-05-08T20:55:33Z

The sound effects are pretty good, but it would have been stellar with some music to go with the driving. The birth certificate is a nice touch and I enjoyed the few deliveries I made. The graphics color/tone is solid. Well done.

Purrfect Delivery by Mashiro 2023-05-02T23:48:54Z

I never hated popups as much! Very interesting use of it as a mechanic. It would be awesome if the music loop was a bit longer, but it definitely matches the look and tone of the game. The "virtual desktop" was also a nice touch. Very awesome execution of the theme. :)

Post Haste by tendencydriven 2023-05-06T17:46:31Z

Really enjoyed the level design and overall feel of this. Movement is pretty intuitive and the game didn't crash. Awesome. :) Very well done. I was hoping to go under some of the forklifts, as it seems there is enough room, but those dreams were crushed, unlike the box lol

FedUp by RogueBrain 2023-05-02T19:18:30Z

Love how the truck bobs up and down as it drives. The voice lines and sound effects are stellar. Wish there were a few more unique shapes and coloration, but the mechanic of being able to move around a package to hear what's inside, is wonderful. The music fits with the upbeat groove β™ͺβ™«. Definitely fun and fitting of the theme. :)

C.R.A.B. signal by unkilledshadow135_Alex 2023-05-02T18:38:46Z

I was expecting the relays to automatically beam the signal, so I was confused by their introduction at first. The artwork is consistent and pleasant to look at, reminiscent of angry birds in a good way. :)

Slalom Pizza Delivery Service by SpeakWithPlants 2023-05-15T15:03:55Z

pizza.PNG

Really enjoyed the controls and simplicity of the game. Would have loved to hear some music and sounds to accompany the gameplay. Well done.

Pizza Time Rush by TheButterApple24 2023-05-08T18:45:29Z

On my 4k display it kind of glitched out upon launch, but resizing the window worked. :) I wish the roads were a bit wider in relation to the car size but it was fun to drive around. Car sound was decent and the arrow for navigation was a nice touch. Well done. :)

Lil' Death by ASilvers 2023-05-02T18:30:32Z

I like the controls and overall visual themes. It's definitely more difficult than I expected, but I welcome the challenge. While the music is a bit simple, it fits quite well β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«. I wish the orbs/souls changed color permanently after retrieving them. Well done. :)

Syntech Surfer by Xandruher 2023-05-07T17:30:36Z

Really enjoy the music, graphics, and the smooth controls. Would have loved to see the little towers shoot something as some sort of defense tower, but that's just my two cents. :) Very well done!

News @ Doorstep by Petronus 2023-05-15T14:59:21Z

Takes a bit to get used to the controls, but it was fun. Well done. :)

Daring Delivery by RyanAnsberry 2023-05-08T18:51:22Z

I really enjoy the car controls, but was wishing for some music and sound to accompany it. The arrow mechanic is great at visually telling the player distance in regards to delivery and pickup! :)

The Delivering of Christ - The trials of Mary by Trakina 2023-05-07T18:17:13Z

I thought Mary could stomp the serpent, but not in this game. XD I really enjoyed the classic visuals and music. The amount of skulls piling up in the desert were staggering! Well done. :)

Box Dragger by ArtCrafter2999 2023-05-02T19:02:25Z

I think the dialogue UI text, when starting a new game should say "Press ENTER to CONTINUE" instead of skip. I immediately assumed that the dialogue tutorial was going to automatically move forward. The stress level mechanic is cool, but sometimes it feels like it spikes all the way up out of nowhere, causing "you're fired". The physics are nice, but seem pretty sensitive for my mouse settings, when dragging boxes.

Really great audio fx and music. It fits the world that you've created. :)

Manucci's Pizza Hunt by Jona Scheidig 2023-05-02T02:55:54Z

Really like the intro animation and how enemies steal pizza. The chiptune track really fits the visuals and style of the game. I feel the fighting SFX are a bit loud. Nice work. :)

RELEASE THE MEAT by NuiN 2023-05-02T03:20:35Z

Really enjoy how this game is put together. Having the chance to experiment with the physics after building your cart is just a really good time. Fits the theme perfectly and is overall very fun! The graphics are simple but fit together quite well. Great work.

Box It Up by Ollyfields 2023-05-12T00:08:41Z

This has been one of my favorites so far. I cannot express how much I LOVE how the crosshair/box is super accurate when picking up items! Really enjoyed the time stretching of the music and the variety of items to pick up as the levels progressed. I didn't notice a sign about using SHIFT to quickly do a sprint burst, but it was much appreciated. The graphics were enjoyable, but my 2080 was spinning its fans quite loudly at 4k (but who on earth has time to optimize for a jam?! XD ).

My nitpicks:

1. It be a cool to see a little animation or sprite for completing all levels. Maybe money flowing or a bonus check being written for an all perfect score.

2. The end of level animation could be quicker, like as fast as the override speed for that POV shot.

3. The button for going to the next level seemed a bit finicky when clicking on it for me.

4. Motion blur is not kind to my eyes, option to disable would be a mighty fine thing.

Overall, this is a super impressive entry that you should be proud of. :)

Cargo Chaos by synthol 2023-05-08T19:48:56Z

I enjoyed the speed and music. It would have been cool to see different types of obstacles or more difficult to grab (but higher scoring) packages. I only got a score of like 62 when I played, but enjoyed it.

Snail Mail by blast73 2023-05-03T01:43:33Z

Mood is so chillax with the music β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«. It's quite an impressive experience for a gamejam game. The houses and map design are well done and the time score at the end incentivizes multiple play-through. Awesome work!

Equilibrium. Delivery of emotions by abi.code16 2023-05-02T19:57:03Z

Very nice use of the bg menu audio and music. Very relaxing music and atmosphere. The artwork is enjoyable. Well done.

Love Letters by matthewrf 2023-05-02T03:33:36Z

I really love the animation of the bird, the platform mechanics, and the smooth feeling of play. I would have loved to hear some outdoor background noise or simple soft music. Quite a relaxing game.

Pizza Race by E-polygon 2023-05-12T00:14:42Z

The menu audio seemed a bit loud compared to the gameplay. Like other comments, I noticed the music only hitting my left speaker. It's a solid on the rails kind of collection game that is pretty fun to play. The artwork matches well and there doesn't seem to be any out of place visuals. Solid entry. :)

Feed The Owlets by Nikolai-Marian Sokolovskii 2023-05-12T01:42:29Z

I really like the animations and models. I'm not sure if there's a win state. I got up to 15 mice to the little owlets. It was pretty enjoyable, but music would have been a pleasant addition. Even in the browser, the game plays with playable framerates (at least on my system). The hit box with mice seem a bit unforgiving to me, but not super frustrating. Well done. :)

LD54 — Limited Space

Burger Blitz by Euix 2023-10-05T23:50:47Z

Really enjoyed playing around in this. It would have been nice to have the tickets for the orders right in the character's HUD, with items checked off as you added them to the bun, instead of something you have to go back and reference if you don't remember. Very impressive! :)

Prairie Dog Panic! by SAD Studios 2023-10-06T02:51:06Z

I love top down games, so I'm a bit biased. Really enjoyed this game. :)

Re: Charge by polyforma42 2023-10-05T23:12:39Z

Very impressive experience for a compo game under 28MB. Easy to pick up and enjoy. I was hoping for an item drop at some point from the enemies, but died a few times until that darn scooter was charged! :) I hope you enter this jam into the county fair, cause it was delicious. XD

Prospector Pete by Porgiepie 2023-10-05T23:00:59Z

Really enjoy the upbeat music loop, the colors, and simplicity of this one. It would be cool to have some grid lines for further strategies, especially if you build upon the gameplay in the future. Well done. :)

Things that I think could improve the game:

A special bomb pickup that only destroys your last pickup would be cool thing to maximize score.

A random or "?" item to allow the player to gamble on whether it's worth picking up.

Different sounds for each mined item.

HALLOS by Chailotl 2023-10-05T23:25:59Z

Very retro styled graphics and easy to pick up and play. Movement is very fluid. I only got to 8100 pts, but was hoping for an upgrade drop. For different attack types for ships, it would be great to hear a pitch difference when a different attack is done (like the ships that shoot 3 at a time). Well done. :)

Star hotel by Taeghen 2023-10-06T00:03:35Z

The art style, music, sound, and controls were great. The direction taken with "limited space" was creative. :)

My only issue was with having to distinguish their likes and dislikes with symbols that didn't seem to correlate visually. The heart/like symbol looks like a pink down arrow and the dislike looks like a red 4 leaf clover. A simple happy yellow smiley and a mad red face, I feel, would improve the UI (at least in my limited brain XD).

Midnight Escape by vio 2023-10-05T23:36:37Z

Very good experience for a jam. Was hoping to get revenge as the vampire for the ending, but with the limited time for a jam, it's to be expected. :)

LD55 — Summoning

You Have Been Summoned by Frederika 2024-04-20T21:25:18Z

I like the jury summoning aspect, as it was brought up in my team's jam discussion. The he writing, graphics, and direction were enjoyable. :)

The lack of music and sound detracted from the experience, especially in a VN styled game, but these jams are so short, it's totally understandable. :)

Board to Death by LandoSystems 2024-04-17T23:43:49Z

The polish on this is jam is wild. From the intro page turns, transitioning the screen into the game, the characters jumping, killing, or being summoned. Impressive. The music and sounds fit quite well, with solid song loop length that never got annoying. Gameplay of the turn based system is fleshed out with care.

The tone and visuals of this game really reminded me of Unepic. Great work. :)

Rise of the CatMancer by Daniel C 2024-04-20T19:02:54Z

cat.png

Animated leaves on the background are a nice touch on the menu, the menu music evokes a sense of epic wonder for the adventure to come. When returning to the menu later, The music takes another turn entirely. Even though I'm not a huge fan of that specific genre, it brought a smile to my face.

Options menu seems to be a bit bugged. Accidentally turning down sound levels sometimes mutes it to zero and there's no way (in game) to pull it back to the right. Restarting the game brings those levels back to default though.

I was confused about the background art like @pres2300 but after figuring this out, I really enjoyed the free range of motion given. Though, you can walk into the black of the map too?

I had a lot of fun with this one.

"God forgive me for the smackdown I'm about to deliver to this f*%&ing cat" I'm dead. XD. Sorry if I misquoted this one, I was too busy fighting off priests - some altar boy probably

Rythm Ritual by rasblo 2024-04-24T22:11:37Z

I really wish the tempo of the music matched what was going on for the button requests in game. A simple 1.2.3.4 drum loop that matches speed would greatly enhance the experience. I like how there are only 3 buttons to press and they are left, right, down, but even then without synced music, it's very difficult to get the hang of without muting the game.

The graphics were enjoyable and the game itself matched the theme quite well. :)

Shards by mechanicallife 2024-04-22T19:57:39Z

Loved the polished animations, though I could see the lines for future cuts on a couple of fingers. I think adding handcuffs to the player's arm could add some tension, kind of implying that you're being forced to play the game.

The seamless looped music helps the relaxed but dark mood. Quite impressive depth for a jam :)

Necromancer DIY by Diccuric_Sigeon 2024-04-25T03:18:35Z

I think the music is a bit too loud compared to other games on the jam. I wasn't sure of what the clickable space was during the game since the signs were spaced in a way that made me think it was more limited.

The attacking creature animations were cool and the visuals set a nice dark tone.

Night 333 by MaiMai 2024-04-17T20:21:48Z

I enjoyed the controls, camera, graphics. I agree with @doc-ill about the time it takes to drain health. It would also be cool to see an effect pulling their energy towards you. I honestly had more fun exploring the map off road than defeating the enemies. Bouncing/hovering over a huge tree is just awesome. The crickets sound effect kind of evokes a feeling of boredom (at least for me), even though it does add some atmosphere.

I would love to see a second version with some synthwave music added, actual kinetic attacks on enemy vehicles in addition to draining their health, and visual circle around the vehicle to see its radius.

Great entry with super impressive visuals, controls, and map design. :)

Night 333 by MaiMai 2024-04-17T23:17:07Z

@maimai for kinetics I mean a variety of things. Ranged weapons, ramming, maybe dropping traps/bombs/obstacles on the road, being able to push other cars into the environment (trees, rocks, water) for damage.

I hear ya on the jam time limits... they are a battle! :)

The Unsummoning by Unx 2024-04-24T21:46:14Z

My biggest problem was not being able to fullscreen the game. Playing with mouse and keyboard, I ended up selecting or clicking on the top of the game window and failing movements. Pretty fun and intuitive in regards to the controls and overall tone. Graphics scaled pretty well even at 4k. Well done. :)

Technorogue by Andreadbx 2024-04-20T21:58:38Z

I thoroughly enjoyed the animation, lighting, effects, and dynamic music.

The game was a bit difficult to understand. I was unsure of what I was supposed to do and why via the design. I knew what to do with the familiar controls/perspective, but there's no indication of how long your summon lasts, if that summon joins you to the next room, etc. During my first playthrough, I died upon entering a different room (fighting enemies) from the starting/tutorial room, so I naturally restarted and pushed through a different door to see what it was all about.

When upgrading at the second "shop" room, I didn't really know what each summon was useful for or what direction I should take. At one point I had 8 gems to upgrade, but when I spent 4 and had 4 available, the "costs 4" upgrade button was greyed out for some reason.

Everything sounds and looks great, but I think a small bit of UI polish and hitbox refining would make this even better.

It's a very impressive entry. Great work to your whole team for churning this out in such a short time. :)

Summons of the Sovereign by Hare Software 2024-04-27T01:19:20Z

It's a cool concept, but summoned units not belonging to either player makes the game kind of chaotic on first playthrough. The voicelines were great, but sometimes overlapped each other. Music was really enjoyable and shaped the tone/mood while matching the graphical style. Very well done. :)

Gunmancer by Joshua Weggartner 2024-04-20T23:17:00Z

Enjoyed the fact that I had to create a summoning circle instead of just picking up orbs in a top down shooter. This gave the game a bit more to do instead of just clicking randomly or holding down left mb. My biggest problems were with the shots not being perfectly aligned with the cursor and enemies spawning under/ontop of me.

A very enjoyable entry regardless of my critique. :)

Fries&Bones by ArtoniX 2024-04-19T00:47:29Z

I wish the controls and UI were further explained in the description of the game. I found it impossible to gain coins to progress. The movement was really choppy, but that may be due to the large resolution I was playing at, I really don't know.

Loved the models, and cute animation of the player character. Icons and pixel art are very pleasant to the eyes.

The Alumnus Of Darkness by mremmele 2024-04-19T02:42:12Z

I was having a really hard time with the archers and the hits seemed to splash through my summoned troops. The art style and controls were very intuitive and easy to pick up. Well done. :)

SUMMON'LIDAYS by Raivk 2024-04-24T22:06:43Z

This game is like where's waldo but actually fun, silly, and engaging. I loved the music as it sounded like a sega genesis game without being too aggressive. Each cutscene was well made and the whole project is very well made!

I was confused at first as there is no real mention of objects to find on the map and the description of "intense clicking" made me think that I just had to click the hell out of the summoner after a few levels. XD

Ethereal Tower by Zliebowitz 2024-04-21T00:25:19Z

The toughest criticism I could give would be the game description itself. It's a summoning dower defense game with an extra player interaction element! At least, that's how I would describe it. :) IMO this would draw more tower defense enjoyers to review the game. The win state would be better with an extra button so players don't accidentally close it (like I did, a few times... lol).

This has been my favorite tower/strategy jam game for ludumdare 55 without question!

This game is definitely worth playing all levels and replaying to victory while seeing how your summoned towers/slimes fare in the battles that happen.

I loved the music and sound while figuring out how it plays out.

Seriously great work on the visuals, balance, and gameplay.

Penguinology by Smidgens 2024-04-20T23:29:33Z

I really didn't understand the direction. Even though I found the splashscreen reference and tonal whiplash funny, I am not sure what to make of it. I scoured around the couple rooms to see if something was hidden but failed to see/experience anything other than two rooms ready to surprise me. If there is something hidden... please give hint.... please.

The graphics, controls, UI, and sounds are great. :)

Hell of a job by boudoubouda 2024-04-20T23:07:51Z

I enjoyed the music and sound. It all came together perfectly for the art/tone/atmosphere of the game. The speed of the tune increasing was great to make the sense of urgency work. Phones ringing as the music sped up was such a nice touch.

The gameplay and interface is pretty straight forward, but sometimes it felt weird trying to switch characters to different seats.

Wished the win state showed more cool artwork to express a good job well done (you're in line for a promotion) or how things will get worse (like demanding they get their favorite coffee) depending on what kind of ending tone you were aiming going for.

Very glad to check this one out. :)

Necropets by gasgiant 2024-04-20T19:28:31Z

I really enjoyed the art style and animation.

Menu music is soothing and somber at times, so it's definitely fitting. Though I wish it changed during battle and post battle to give more immersion to what is happening on screen. It would be cool to see a UI with explanations of each buff buried with the necropets, or even adding it to the description to help new players.

It's definitely a very interesting entry with fun to be had. :) Well Done.

Footlong Flight by YellowKamel 2024-04-23T21:17:02Z

I love how the graphics rotate as you fly. While playing full screen the amount of static effect is a bit much, but definitely still playable. The controls are very responsive. Music is on point for the main loop during gameplay, just the right mix of ominous and moving forward tonally. Awesome work, especially for a jam.

Kalea The Evil by Lakea 2024-04-24T22:33:10Z

An in depth control scheme in the description should be added to help new players. Sound effects were a bit unbalanced but not bad at all. :)

Burdemon by Teun de Vries 2024-04-17T21:33:32Z

I had a lot of fun upgrading my ranged skill through this. The music, sound, layout/design kept me wanting to move forward. Standard WSAD and LMB RMB controls made it super easy to pick up and play. Battle music was on point for the pace of the fights and tone of the game. Every upgrade made each encounter feel a bit different.

The boss/wizard was the only thing that was really bugged. I just stood there and right clicked with zero movement happening for me or him, and he didn't ever attack with any ranged or melee from what I could tell.

Since you can moonwalk as a demon creature while shooting magic... that makes this one worth playing (especially if you enjoy the dungeon crawl genre).

Cheers. :)

Summon World by Itskdog 2024-04-17T23:27:12Z

I love that cheats are a part of the UI. It's great to watch them build a huge city and just storm it all down. That really adds to the fun. The music fits the graphics well, but is a bit short to repeat. I enjoy all the graphics and how they match up. Each ability feels very different.

Well done. :)

Delightfully Devilish by CORRUPTOR2037 2024-04-20T22:54:44Z

I get the idea of matching each demon with its written skill/quirk, it's pretty straight forward. I was hoping for the imps to have more of an impact each day as you play. I thought the music loosp fit the game perfectly and I was bobbing my head while playing. Having a separate menu track to regular gameplay was very nice. The lack of completion/win visual (other than text saying you win) could easily be solved with more time... something not given in a jam!. :) Very well done.

A Short Summoning by Dmitry Mozgin 2024-04-16T20:11:44Z

Really enjoyed the camera view, low poly models, and movement. A few flickering textures here and there, but I never got stuck on a wall. It's weird how the enemies group into one. That last level had me wondering how many shots it would take to clear the entire grouped up mass that appeared as one model. Pretty cool.

Hades' Haunted Corn Maze by Deruitda 2024-04-16T20:30:03Z

I wish the enemies didn't run so fast, even on easy mode. I really enjoy the artwork and music. The sound effects are a bit uneven, but it's definitely better than no sound effects at all. Cheers. :)

Horizon Assault by LΓ©lek Hunor Kadosa 2024-04-16T20:21:50Z

I really like the gameplay, the layout, the art style. Everything is very straight forward and intuitive. Pretty fun little jam. Wish there was some sci-fi battle music to go with all the action, but hey, it's a functional and enjoyable experience. Cheers. :)

CallOfTitan by EmilAlix 2024-04-21T01:59:01Z

The music and graphics are really enjoyable. I feel that the music matched the pace of the character and play style quite well. The transparent changes to the map were easy to pick up from the first playthrough.

I wished there was a player interactive block or dodge (with cooldown) to get out of difficult situations.

Great work. :)

Zombies vs UFOS by Cafe Spectrum Studio 2024-04-24T22:29:10Z

I would recommend adding that you need to hover your mouse over dropped coins/gold to get gold to the description. I enjoyed the music loop and it added to the tone. I ended up summoning a ton of zombies and kind of just sat there waiting for something to happen.

Demon's Call by Coro_yy 2024-04-20T18:01:53Z

I agree with @luamct about zooming out the camera and leaning for the viewing angle. It would have been cool to summon something like a fireball for more diverse item pickups (like burnt arm, charcoal, etc) and combat play. I really liked the visual cartoonish style and sound effects. Awesome work. :)

Tug Of Slime by Retrific 2024-04-17T23:08:31Z

I really enjoyed the ability progression and strategy aspect of this. While the slimes are kind of basic in their visual appearance, they are easy to recognize and the game gives you enough time to learn from mistakes. Very fun. :)

Summon In The Dungeon by Kujoen 2024-04-16T20:57:00Z

I had some issues with my chrome tab becoming unresponsive, but I really enjoy the game. The music, art, and gameplay match quite well and it creates very enjoyable experience. Would love to be able to have a downloadable EXE because no matter what I did, the bottom of the UI was always cut off a bit. Very well done. :)

GOBLIN VS FROG by omphh 2024-04-23T21:59:09Z

This really felt like WarioWare in all the best ways. I loved the variation of mini games and music changes that didn't feel forced or out of place. The summoning was kind of background for score, but still cool that it touched on that theme. :)

Path of Summoner by Pedryx 2024-04-20T21:08:50Z

I liked the menu and the changes in music for battle while watching the characters fight.

I assumed I could get more than four characters due to the UI spacing. I never got to the win state, but was really unsure of the overall goal was, other than to continue fighting for a different combo. I thought right clicking on lower health units would unsummon them, but it seems to only sacrifice the unit to the far right (played the web version).

Very impressive for a solo developed jam. Well done. :)

SKELEMANCER by deadjolly 2024-04-20T23:50:19Z

@13x666 @AmunOnra @Vodzik thank you for the kind words about the voice acting and trying out our game.

A lot of work went into getting the game into a more playable state recently (bug fixes) and it means a lot to us that you have all tried it out and shared your thoughts. :)

SKELEMANCER by deadjolly 2024-04-21T02:04:33Z

@alenarobo This was definitely a debated feature while we were developing! XD Unfortunately, these jam time limits are brutal!

@baluj That's one hell of a work of art! A piece worthy of admiring :)

πŸ‘ S.H.E.E.P - Sheep Hell Emissaries, Eradicate Purity πŸ‘ by Shenoit 2024-04-24T21:35:36Z

I ran into a collision issue where I somehow activated both the positive and negative effect. The sound effects are triggered for abilities/summons even when you don't have the mana/points. Pretty cool to see the meme of mobile advertisement game put into the jam. :)

Witches Brew by delauraen 2024-04-24T22:22:48Z

I liked the level design, but I think scaling some of the pine trees up and down as filler and making smaller ones not collide with the player could fill out the map a bit. The controls were decent, but the mouse sensitivity default was a bit high.

At the end I was hoping for something else to happen, like the frog attacking, exploding, or letting you know that this whole experience was just a dream or anything more than just a win state. Then again, these game jam time limits are crazy! :)

The Gateway by Congeesetador 2024-04-20T20:17:09Z

The pixel art is really enjoyable and consistent. :)

I appreciate the voice acting effort as it's an underrated craft. Normalizing the audio by paying attention to the peak volume using a program like audacity should help you in the future. Although, for a short game jam like this, it might save you time to go for subtitled text and focus more on the UI and experience for first time players (since every reviewer is a first time player). I think the stoner and drinking character are definitely spot on XD.

I followed the order of talking to people presented by the guide provided in the description, but couldn't progress any further... at first. I didn't realize that I even picked up anything or that I needed to listen to characters talk more than once to acquire or deliver items! I would love to see items/icons pop up in the UI to show what my character is holding, so I know I've acquired the item needed for the next step. It would help if the next character I spoke to was just surprised that I was already holding what they needed, instead of going through their first dialogue, should the occasion arise (more work I know!).

After triggering the most straight forward win state, I was curious.... if I lose or go back down to the lab, would the robots would start killing the scientists. Unfortunately they didn't. That could be an exciting motivation for multiple playthroughs. :)

Well done on following the theme with a futuristic approach and developing a game by yourself. :)

The Gateway by Congeesetador 2024-04-20T21:15:03Z

@congeesetador I would highly recommend checking out some Audacity tutorials on Youtube! They've helped me many times while trying to record sound effects, voice, and music for developers I work with. Audacity is free and pretty darn easy to record and just have fun! There are also loads of tutorials on Youtube for any questions you might have/search. :)

DESTROY THE WIZARD by LonelyGameDev 2024-04-21T01:46:58Z

I love the overall old school style. The menu music fits well (with a some silence between loops unfortunately), but is a bit too loud compared to the rest of the game sound fx (I had to turn down my volume and then the sfx were a bit quiet).

The combat feels fluid and the difficulty is fitting for the style of game. I wish more arrows/bolts were dropped as that weapon was my favorite to use, albeit shortly. Well done. :)

Summon's Wrong by ChickenVicious 2024-04-19T02:05:10Z

I enjoyed the huge arm more than I should have. XD I would love to have a deeper explanation of the mechanics and how the resource management works. The music and sound is excellent and really adds to the experience. :) Nice work.

The Old Summoner by litterattus 2024-04-23T21:24:23Z

At first I didn't realize that I could summon from a distance XD. I like the sound effects and controls. I think an in depth tutorial would help new players. Well done. :)

Summon the Intern by Speedphoenix 2024-04-17T21:12:21Z

I really appreciate the chiptunes and the comments from staff. Feels like real life tech support to me XD. The artwork, sound, gameplay and music all match up very well with this on. Well done. :)

Undead Survivor by buloz 2024-04-22T20:04:45Z

I think it would have been more fun if you could scroll through possible summons with mouse wheel (with resources needed for each summon in the UI) instead of having to manually select the resources. It's a fun game with fitting music and sound. The resource pickup sound really reminded me of Stardew Valley. :)

Summoner's Rifft by matid90 2024-04-25T03:44:11Z

INTRO CUTSCENE WENT HARDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

Demon Delivery Center by Franco Farallo 2024-04-24T00:37:55Z

I think it would be awesome to have location descriptions appear upon hovering over the red letter text of the request. That could help give clues to what is needed. I enjoyed the music and sound as it added to the atmosphere.

Larrys ducked-up adventures by Fatz 2024-04-18T22:52:20Z

The overall premise is pretty unique and cool. Occasionally the ducks would get stuck, but at least using a ladder brings them right back to you. The summoning mechanic is sweet. I like the idea of having to do some ritual just to cast something.

I was hoping for some retro music and duck quacking sounds, but hey jams are brutal time crunches! Well done. :)

Warlock's Apprentice by WestEastStudio 2024-04-20T18:37:21Z

It was fun playing with combinations, but it definitely made me wanting more (a good thing for a jam game!). Seeing the different outcomes of the ingredients is the best part. I loved the animation and sound for changing out the summoning board. The artwork is absolutely stellar, it's the right amount of silly and serious at the same time.

If you expand on this concept with more monsters, enemies for your summons to fight, and specific quests for your monsters to complete, this would be an awesome warlock/wizard/summoner sim that I could see see selling well to casual and hardcore gamers alike. Well done.

The Scared Summoner by Dymino 2024-04-20T20:52:42Z

That one hit death is brutal, but overall pretty cool. It would have been nice to have more variation on the music loop, either cutting out instruments or adding more melodies throughout. I think slowly increasing the speed of enemies over time, and a few hit points, might give players a better chance to enjoy what you have created.

Well done. :)

Scummoner by boba 2024-04-23T21:45:45Z

I was totally grooving to the music while destroying lives. The tonal difference of the music to the subject matter was just the best. :) I wish I didn't have to fullscreen to use the scroll wheel effectively, but that's the limitations of web builds.

Soul Pact by SesMiRe 2024-04-17T21:05:20Z

Upon startup, having to enable the cursor to just click start kind of threw me off. In my opinion, the menu doesn't really serve a purpose other than to show the player a cool song, since the settings button was unresponsive (after enabling the cursor). Cryptic riddles and lack of UI are definitely not my type of game, so I had to look through comments to get beyond picking up a bottle of spirits.

Music looping and sound effect looping appear to be an issue, as I could hear an obvious stop and startup to the song and the fire crackling sound effect seemed to randomly stop for me.

The visual models, map design, sound effects, and controls are very impressive. I think one thing that could increase the immersion for the controls would be to give the non-soul player movement feel less "glidey", if that makes sense.

Cheers. :)

Akino's Dungeon by Risminator 2024-04-20T22:18:53Z

I really enjoy the skulls orbiting around my character but with the precision demanded for this style of game, I am yearning for WSAD. While the mouse movement X/Y position can add speed via its coordinates, the lack of precise turning really hurts the experience IMO.

Adding a health bar or block would probably help quite a bit! Even though I was a bit frustrated by the controls, I still played 10+ times to see how far I could get. :) Well played. :P

LuciFare by Aaron Hart 2024-04-23T22:12:00Z

I was playing at 4k and even changing to 1080p didn't fix the carPOV/ui kind of hovering in the middle. I enjoyed the concept and feel of the game. Very nice work on your first entry! :)

Heaven Divers by ThomasZane 2024-04-20T18:10:54Z

At first I thought the HP was my own. I think it would help the UI if the you replaced the existing arrows with WSAD key icons with transparent arrow overlays. Pausing the timer while viewing the tutorial could help, as I was reading it and seeing the timer go up thinking I was going to start losing. Cool concept.

Succubi Slayer by Lonthy 2024-04-24T21:51:25Z

I enjoy the ability to navigate enemies into boxed in areas, the controls being smooth, and the music loop. I'd love to see pickups, score, and objective being implemented in the future. :) Very solid for a first entry. Your team made the deadline! That's half the battle! :)

Mana Mayhem by Stormblessed 2024-04-17T19:51:06Z

This kind of feels like a slower bullet hell, which is nice. I wish there was a separate pool for mana and health points. While I didn't get super far in my few attempts, I was wishing for a special power up or larger mana potion to appear (maybe that happens later?).

Welcome to Ludum Dare with your first entry. Can't wait to see the second. :)

Summit of the Gods by magik8bal 2024-04-17T20:37:42Z

I got to 96 kills. Hazaah. I enjoyed figuring out the strategy after a couple playthroughs. The introduction of new enemies is a nice touch, as those ranged skeletons really caught me off guard. I did have some of them shooting from off screen though, not a great time. XD

I agree with @missingpixel about explaining each tower and its function. It would be cool if when the player character is close to a totem, it showed a short explanation in the UI or something.

Cool entry worth checking out. Cheers. :)

LD57 — Depths

Mole Cart by Skosnowich 2025-04-09T06:14:52Z

The use of simple lighting mechanics makes this game really interesting. The music selected fits quite well and it's a very relaxing experience. Well done. :)

X Terminator Sim 2036 by vknauss 2025-04-09T06:20:33Z

After extracting the Windows Zip & Windows NO SSAO, the game.exe gives me "Application Error (0xc0000142) Click OK to close the application.". Currently using Windows 10 Pro x64 Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.5608).

Bat outta Hell by hunttis 2025-04-10T06:25:13Z

Really enjoyed the music and sound effects on this one. At one point, I got kind of annoyed with not being able to phase through walls during the second section, but it was definitely fun defeating the first boss. Well done. :)

Where's My Pants?! by gamesplusjames 2025-04-11T06:54:49Z

I really hope the title is a not-so-subtle reference to the fake sitcom in The Lego Movie. If not oh well. XD. I love how smooth the game feels in the controls and camera. It's just such a silly premise but executed quite well. I hope the main character gets some help, because waking up in a stranger's yard pantless all the time could definitely involve the police. Very well done. :)

Marianas Miner by Coda Highland 2025-04-11T04:26:03Z

I really like how the harpoons pin the enemies to the wall. The pacing, movement, and controls are all solid. Would have loved to hear some atmospheric music or sound effects to really sell the location. Solid entry. :)

Steve the Smith by Adam Martin 2025-04-11T05:37:07Z

The controls and feel of this are difficult to get used to. Getting caught on walls and not being able to easily get out of some spaces have been a source of frustration. I did like the variety of mechanics though.

The Chromatic Window by egawag 2025-04-10T05:19:38Z

The walking simulator with the discord call style commentary is great. As the player, it feels as if you've stumbled across an old school DVD commentary. Being able to experience all the old assets in first person really gives you a different view of the previous works. Well done. :)

Nine to Five Nightmare by RelicTooth 2025-04-10T05:45:55Z

The controls and concept are really cool. I wish the music was slowed down and reversed to really sell the dreamlike atmosphere. Well done.

Minion No. 1067809362 by ZuhairGhias 2025-04-10T07:22:57Z

The progression and atmosphere in this jam is actually perfect. The music has that corporate elevator vibe and the personality test after getting used to the feel of the game fit so well. The holographic spikes actually made me think, oh yeah, the previous exposition of "don't freak out" actually means something in the context of the world I'm experiencing. I would absolutely love to see how this game progresses if completed. Just think of the possible lower levels that could be explored/experienced with the assets to match. The only low point of the game is the ending. I am so curious about where this elevator goes and the experiment in general.

Random extra thought: I felt like I was Kenny from Southpark dying in an orange coat a few times. XD Seriously awesome entry.

Folder Depth by Zigtalk 2025-04-11T04:36:38Z

I like the concept but I think it would be better if there were just a lot more folders and no real penalty for clicking the wrong folder/directory other than the actual time wasted by searching that folder. Would have loved to hear some music or sound for the game. Overall, it's gameplay that I definitely wasn't expecting and I enjoyed it. Well done.

Cloud Sea Catalog by TomatoLamp 2025-04-10T06:16:19Z

Graphics, controls, and menus are all really great. I would love to see more direction in game to motivate me to take on the collection goal. You may also want to not have "source code" as the label to your itch.io page for the download, it might confuse some people. The picture taking aspect reminded me of Pokemon Snap. XD

Thats deep bro by AdamsMcCall 2025-04-10T06:07:14Z

Absolutely silly and that's the best part about it. While I'm more into edibles, it was cool trying this out. :)

I wish after you completed the task at hand, there was a retry button or something. Having to close out of the game and relaunch isn't getting anyone high. XD

Deep Hour by Cammin 2025-04-10T07:43:42Z

This game feels like I'm back in the Xbox 360 Arcade days, in all the best ways. That being said, the ghost capturing/destroying mechanic could be improved on. Hammering my spacebar to destroy or capture the ghost feels like I'm fighting my immediate surroundings in real life to continue. A more zoomed out camera for some areas would have been nice, especially around some of the corners.

The artwork, animations, movement, lighting, and interface is dripping with awesome. The best compliments I can give this game is that it appears to mix Alan Wake + Luigi's Mansion + Castle Crashers. Well done. :)

Voidwood by Tobius 2025-04-11T06:01:24Z

I got to 529100 FT deep, it reminded me of warioware for some reason. I loved the change in visuals as you get deeper. My only complaint is that there were times where I just couldn't see where my roots were going because they were too far down off screen. The music was perfectly pushing the speed and feeling of urgency. This is an excellent entry.

i have no clothes and i must clean by robobarbie 2025-04-13T03:56:00Z

I really enjoyed the music and sound. It was effective at driving the atmosphere and pacing of the game. Having to control the movement, step by step, and attack made it quite engaging. It was more responsive than expected for a renpy game for sure! :)

The writing perfectly summed up the crappy roommate experience while sliding into the horror/suspense genre. The graphics were simple, very effective, and surprisingly customizable. Very well done.

Depths of Death by Philocode 2025-04-10T06:43:21Z

I absolutely loved this jam. The gameplay is smooth and easy to control. The sound effects fit perfectly and it's an engaging experience. The lightning and fire buff/upgrades were so overpowered but very fun to experience. Add a soundtrack, more story+gameplay-mechanics, and this would be one heck of a full released game. :)

The only bug that I noticed is that the rats seem to be "backwards" when the spawn to the right of the character and they stay that way when moving towards me. At least that's what I experienced on my system (using the downloaded version from Itch).

Banished by likoyr 2025-04-11T05:45:23Z

I'm with @frywarrior on that. I'm not very skillful as well, it seems. XD I liked the artwork and concept quite a bit. The movements were smooth and the audio did a great job to sell the scenes/environment. β™ͺβ™«

The Fall by Teist 2025-04-09T07:11:13Z

Very cool concept and execution. The obstacles seem placed for perfect challenging gameplay. I really enjoyed the music and sound effects too. Well done. :)

Payback Pit by Alem26 2025-04-09T06:53:22Z

I enjoyed the graphics and audio quite a bit. I think it would be cool if the enemies dropped something when they died. Perhaps a different sort of resource?

One thing I noticed when selling ore, I could never get all my ore numbers to zero. There was always one pesky ore sitting in my inventory, no matter how many times I pressed E. XD

Rock Bottom by Bex2499 2025-04-10T05:56:20Z

I really wish the field of view was set to like 90 or just a little less aggressive in addition to a less sensitive mouse motion. Picking up objects and just throwing them around haphazardly was definitely fun. The title of the game reminded me of SpongeBob XD. The ability to emote in a game like this is so silly, it's awesome.

Depthline by Custodi 2025-04-11T04:43:25Z

I think the gameplay could be improved by increasing the area of the clickable space of the letters, coloring the letters when hovering your mouse over them (like red for not used for the word, yellow for used but not in the correct order, and green for the letter you need). The graphics were nice and the animations were smooth like butter. Very cool.

Take Your Meds by DubiousDuck 2025-04-11T05:54:55Z

I cannot understate how much I enjoyed the music β™ͺβ™«β™ͺ. Seriously awesome work on that. The mechanics and presentation of the game were very well executed. A single level that would show off each of the mechanics in order for a tutorial would have been very appreciated. Then again, who has time for all that in a jam? XD

Toilet Diver by Makache 2025-04-13T05:46:05Z

I enjoyed the smoothness, animations, visuals and controls. The length of the level/areas was a bit much. I do love that the depths theme was used for a toilet. XD Well done. Hopefully my wife doesn't flush her ring down the toilet and I have to go miniature to find it. :)

In terms of sound, it would have been cool to give variation to the pitch of the swim sound to mitigate its repetitive feeling. The other sounds were good though.

Into the depths by Perovic2018 2025-04-11T06:44:05Z

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and feeling of the entire experience. The lack of music is perfect for letting those subtle sounds fill out the silence. The flashlight kind of lagging behind my mouse speed makes it even scarier. I think adding some weird contorted animations on the enemies would really push the scare factor up a notch. One of my favorite entries so far.

Depth of your Thoughts by mauzart 2025-04-10T05:35:14Z

I almost never say this, but the lack of music actually makes this a more engaging experience. I was hoping for even more text before the end, but I understand how the time flies during the jam. Very well done. I hope you post something for the next jam too. :)

Deep Dive by Matt Giuca 2025-04-11T05:32:14Z

I enjoyed the choice of music and fluidity of the game itself. It was very easy to pick up and just enjoy, which is always a battle for a jam. The UI gave perfect information about what was happening and the red/green highlights were a great way to visually tell me what to do.

Narcosis by xen3x 2025-04-11T05:27:44Z

Really enjoyed the flow and atmosphere. The only thing I didn't like is how I felt pinned by enemies when they hit me. It would be cool if they knocked you back or something, at some point I was being dragged down with zero recourse. I still consider it a very fun entry though. Nice work.

MESSIER 104 CBH by kuboi 2025-04-11T06:06:50Z

The sounds/music were perfect for the game. The little sound when hitting the rocks is just the best. Extra like for the little frog who's been spaghettified into eternity.

Depths of the Void by EZduzzit 2025-04-10T06:47:57Z

Playing at 1440p it appears that a box kind of overlays the controls of the ship, so I can only click left or right for the commands.

Edit:

I switched my monitor's resolution down to 1080p before launching and am able to play like normal. It's a nice experience. The pace and style really reminds me of FTL. For the first encounter, I think it would be nice if the enemy ship wouldn't move around so much, or at least have the camera pan out dependent on if the ship is visible to the player or not. I like suggestion of @wolfier for faster firing, as this would speed the game up a bit.

The music and sound are enjoyable. I'm glad to have experienced your first jam and wish you the best of luck in making more games. :)

Depth Gem by haykam 2025-04-10T04:50:09Z

I liked the simplicity of movement and gem collection. As far as controls go, I would have loved to be able to use the mouse location/click to mine, WSAD movement and space bar to jump. I really wish there was some chiptune music to go with this, it would have driven me to play longer. I was able to glitch one of my jumps through a wall, but not regularly enough for it to be a real issue. Congrats on finishing as a solo developer, I can't imagine the solo struggles! Well done. :)

Deep City by MilkiWay 2025-04-10T04:39:37Z

I really enjoyed the atmosphere, music, and sound effects. The combination of sounds really sell the visuals. Relatively steep learning curve in terms of knowing why you failed, but it definitely has some really cool strategy involved. My first instinct was to use the mouse to move the camera around (traditional RTS style), but WSAD is effective enough for camera movement. If this was fleshed out with more RTS styled controls and eventually combat, it would be the kind of game that I would buy if it had a story and campaign. Very impressive for a group of two people!

LD58 — Collector

Applause Collector by esh_k 2025-10-09T04:39:20Z

I think the idea is quite unique. Was hoping for some medieval or upbeat music to help me in my quest, but it was still a fun experience. Well done.

debt collector - the game by 8212games 2025-10-09T05:05:39Z

I couldn't win, but it's because of how difficult it is to get those boxes to move in a predictable way. Very solid game with smooth gameplay.
