Great first jam game!
The letters idea was a great play on the theme, and the bird delivery was great! The art worked well, and the sound effects fit great. The animation on the player was subtle, but noticed, and the level was thought out and well designed.
My biggest issue with the game would have to be the double jump mechanic. Was super 50/50 for me to be able to double jump, even with full stamina. I had to try to get the top right side letter 7 or 8 times before the double jump would let me. Maybe a bit of extra wiggleroom in the stamina bar to make that happen?
The art was great, and all the biomes had great respective styles. My only complaint there would be the lack of background. Just a little blue sky would have added so much more immersion.
Apart from that, great entry! Great work!
First game? Good job!
The premise of the game is pretty decent. I have to agree with the other review - the double jump didn't always go off. I also found that some of the platforms were very unforgiving which made the game hard in some cases.
The art was nice and cohesive. The sounds worked well with the game. Would have been nice to have some background music.
Overall, excellent first game jam! Keep at it
me personally i suck at platformers but i super enjoyed this!! love how you explained to players mechanics and stuff as they went along and of course its super cute!! awesome job!

Great job for a first jam! Very good use of the theme. The platforming is a little unforgiving, especially the double jump and platform edges, but gliding is very satisfying. As a solo dev, time probably didn't allow it, but a background image (parallax even better) and background music would be welcome additions.

Great job. I like how the letters make the levels less linear. An idea: Maybe have him drop little feathers like in "A Short Hike."
I really love the animation of the bird, the platform mechanics, and the smooth feeling of play. I would have loved to hear some outdoor background noise or simple soft music. Quite a relaxing game.
It's amazing that you created such a huge level. The core mechanic is also quite match the theme. It's just I hope the bird's jump cooldown could be recovered as soos as landing on the ground.

I really like the artwork and level design! It is a little tricky, but once you have learned the controls it is fun to play. (maybe a tiny little more stamina so you can move while jumping) Also, I would have loved to see a storyline why the cardinal is collecting love letters :) Overall great game!

nice sound effect and cute animations (love the walking animations its kina frustrating you can just from the left side in the area where there are stairs like platforms
Pretty cool game! It was pretty frustrating trying to double jump because I would often glide instead of jumping twice so maybe a larger delay to more easily trigger either action? Would've also loved some music

Pretty cool game, could use some background music and the double jump was sometimes frustrating to pull off due to the glide, but overall nice game

I really liked the unique mechanic of having a stamina bar to track your jumping and gliding. +1 for making it in Godot (I used Godot for the first time this game jam) The puzzles were simple and fun. Some feedback: Background music would be nice. Or some bird tweets and rustling leaves.
Cool little platformer! Great job! I would say some jumps were a bit frustrating, especially the double jump and gliding. Unfortunately, I'm really bad at platformers lol. But it was fun!

Congratulations on completing your first game jam ever! The mood was very cute, I loved the cardinal. Maybe some music on top of that would be the cherry on top! I liked the spirit of the game, and it's very cool to have such a big level! Like others players, I also did struggle a bit with the jump, but I enjoyed the game nonetheless. Good job again, both for the game and completing the jam! :sparkles:
Amazing job for a first jam entry! I really enjoy 2D platformers <3 Keep up the good work!

Hi! I felt that the game was a bit hard to control, especially when jumping up close to a platform. The art was very charming though :)
Congratulations on your first game!

+1 to double jump bug. Great bird walk animation, I like how they skippy-walk IRL and I think you've captured it well  Congrats on your first jam!

Congrats on your first game jam! Finishing a full game is an accomplishment on its own! The game was fun to play, some good mechanics as well! For terrible gamers like myself I needed a little bit extra stamina to hit the second jump so I found myself having to redo a lot of platforms that should have been easy.
Overall, really great job!
Wonderful job for a first jam entry! Getting a game done on your own is really quite impressive. I really appreciate the tutorial baked right into your entry to the map and how it explains all the things needed to get up and going!
I do have a few nitpicks regarding the jumping. When jumping I sometimes wanted to go up high but timing the jumps together was somewhat finicky. Also when trying to land on some of the super thin platforms I would try and glide down onto it. However if you do this you have to rapidly tap left and right to not overshoot some of the platforms while holding space to keep gliding. Then once you land you automatically jump off the platform cause you are holding down the jump button lol. It would have been nice to have jump be bound to when you pressed the spacebar down rather than just having it jump if the player is on the ground and the space button is down.
That said, the little hop your bird does to walk around is so cute! I also really liked the simple but really effective gameplay shift that happens once you get the :cherries: For your first Jam this is crazy impressive, seriously well done!

Especially impressive game for your first jam and a one-person team! Congratulations! 2D platforming is always fun to me. I believe for these types of games there's a large focus on the satisfaction of the movement, and I agree with some of the others that sometimes execute the spacebar double-jump vs. glide timing correctly. The concept is solid and fits the theme. Even though there was no music, the sound effects provided good feedback to the player. The cardinal is quite cute!
