LD53 — Delivery

Neat little puzzle platformer, it kind of reminds me of ice puzzles from Pokemon games, but in a 2D sidescroller version instead of being top-down. The last level actually had me stuck for a little while, all of the puzzles were quite well-designed.

Kirk's Food Delivery Game by HacksawUnit 2023-05-03T04:50:34Z

This was super impressive. I think the most important thing with games like this is to just get the controls feeling right, and you nailed that. Just the act of moving around is super well-implemented and fun to learn/practice. I think using both WASD and arrow keys was a neat idea and adds a nice layer of complexity to the otherwise simple movement, so that was a neat idea.

The art and music are also great, everything was very cohesive. The sped up music during the "go back" portion in particular was a nice touch. Amazing work overall!

Bundle Beeline by Squidly 2023-05-03T05:19:33Z

This is super impressive, kudos to you and your team. Other commenters have already sung appropriate praises to pretty much everything about this game so I don't know if I have anything new to add, I just think you guys did amazing. The gameplay loop is well suited for a jam-sized game and it fits the theme perfectly. The platforming can feel a bit stiff at times but it didn't detract much from how much I enjoyed this one.

I also wanna say, nice work on the menus, screen transitions, and game over screen. Adding stuff like that goes a long way in making the game feel more complete and helps set it apart from others.

Sender Not Found by whycardboard 2023-05-02T02:07:30Z

Very unique take on the theme. The mood was easily the best part of this one, I loved the dialogue and the twist towards the end - the humor was also good without disrupting the atmosphere (got a laugh out of me when it wasn't having any of my invalid inputs).

Most of all, I think it's an idea that has a lot of potential - the gameplay is pretty barebones which I think is perfectly fine for the purposes of a Ludum Dare entry, it's just interesting to think about how the "recovering emails" concept could be turned into a bigger puzzle/point-and-click kind of game.

My only complaint is that copying/pasting the broken messages over and over is pretty repetitive, though I suppose it helps reinforce the "sifting through emails" feeling. Very cool idea overall, never thought of doing a game with React before.

Rhino Express by Mahjoub 2023-05-04T02:41:25Z

Fantastic! I was mostly impressed by how many levels you managed to include in such a short timeframe. There were adequate tutorial levels to teach mechanics very well, plus a healthy amount of "actual" levels that got pretty tricky. I love how cohesive and complete this one feels.

The only nitpick I'd have would be the lack of an undo button, but that's hardly a complaint when the game is this polished for only 48 hours of work. Well done.

A Letter To My Friend D by Foursay 2023-05-02T02:15:34Z

I always love seeing music synced up with intense gameplay/visual effects, and you delivered on that here. The music is touching and the letter is very heartwarming. My only complaint is that the text can be hard to read sometimes since the color clashses with the blue background, but for the most part I liked what I saw.

Art and music were great! Well done.

Styx and Stones by Baconeta 2023-05-02T18:14:39Z

I loved the occasional puns from your little soul companion, it added a nice touch of humor to the game. It was also all very well-presented with the dialogue boxes, characte portraits, plus I enjoyed how the soul talks to you during gameplay. The art is also very nice!

I found the gameplay a little repetitive and the end goal seems very lofty given how many souls you can carry so I think that could have been adjusted a bit. I liked it a lot overall though, good take on the theme.

A Blacksmith's Gift by Kassie Kitsune 2023-05-02T04:34:13Z

I like the idea of managing a rapidly increasing/depleting arsenal of weapons, that's a cool concept and you've implemented it well here. I also like the spritework and animation a lot! My only nitpick is I wish the screen moved a bit faster but ehh, that's a minor gripe. Good job!

Morse Code Delivery by BigFantasyTree 2023-05-02T02:29:31Z

I like the idea of using morse code a lot, and I was able to get the hang of it pretty quickly. Something like this would be a cool way to learn morse code. The mechanics felt a little stiff as if some signals were being buffered or delayed or something, so getting the right letters consistently was a bit hard.

Cool idea overall!

Run n Hatch by HGJake 2023-05-02T18:00:20Z

I liked this a lot! The art is cute and the gameplay is interesting enough to keep you engaged through all three levels. It can be a bit deceptive when figuring out what you can/can't jump over but I think that adds to the fun. Had lots of times where I thought I was dead, but it turned out I actually *could* jump over that seagull. Good job on the music too, it's cute.

Deep Sands Delivery by Rjdrag 2023-05-02T02:43:07Z

I agree with the other commenter, the amount of work that went into this is really admirable, especially for a solo game. The models all look good and the mechanics seem to function like they should - getting all that done for a 3-day jam is very impressive.

I found the gameplay a bit confusing/unclear (I couldn't tell what places I could/couldn't unload at), but conceptually it's a pretty good idea. Also didn't find it buggy at all, which was a plus.

Manucci's Pizza Hunt by Jona Scheidig 2023-05-02T02:55:34Z

This is great! The art is nice, the gameplay is fun and functional, and it's funny. I especially love the "pIzZa MaNiAc" voice clip. It also feels very polished - collisions and hitboxes are accurate and I ran into zero bugs. I don't really see a big connection to the theme, but that's a pretty minor gripe.

Quick note for anyone that tries it: punch the wood on the lower-right to access the arena. I didn't recognize the mouse icon right away, but I think that's on me. Just throwing it out there in case anyone else gets confused.

Watching Eyes by AylanJ123 2023-05-02T18:31:42Z

The aesthetic and atmosphere was both serene and a little creepy, making everything through the lens of a camera gave it a really unique vibe. Loved the static effect when you go too far from the city too.

The Windows download didn't come with an executable so I wasn't able to run the game - is this something you're able to fix? Would love to give it a try.
