technically impressive and very ambitious thing to go for and implement in 2 days. I got stuck under the ship pretty quickly unfortunately.

technically impressive and very ambitious thing to go for and implement in 2 days. I got stuck under the ship pretty quickly unfortunately.
There is a lack of screen scaling on the mouse wheel. It seemed strange to me that I couldn't see what was going on around me while I was riding on the platform. But in general, it's very cool to create something complex in just three days!
Cool game, very ambitious. I did seems to get stuck somehow though, I had the "white" cargo but I couldn't deliver it at any location, even if it said it accepts "white" cargo on the map. Maybe I am just doing it wrong though!
Overall super cool! Excellent work in such a short time.
Is a visually stunning game with an interesting concept, it has a lot of potential, I can imagine playing with friends and having different unique abilities per character. However, the unclear mapamundi can be frustrating as it doesn't guide players towards their objectives.
the game idea is top notch. i got stuck early on trying to deliver my white crates to the north west outpost. but overall really solid stuff
banger game, you did a really good job. Had a lot of fun!
I agree with the other commenter, the amount of work that went into this is really admirable, especially for a solo game. The models all look good and the mechanics seem to function like they should - getting all that done for a 3-day jam is very impressive.
I found the gameplay a bit confusing/unclear (I couldn't tell what places I could/couldn't unload at), but conceptually it's a pretty good idea. Also didn't find it buggy at all, which was a plus.
Wow aesthetically the game looks really good. I find that the pacing is really good too, no too many enemies and just enough so that the travelling doesnt get boring. Great work
Game was great! I loved the atmosphere of it and had a good time upgrading my ship.
Awesome achievement in such a short amount of time!
Would be good to add a mechanism to allow you to catch back up to the ship if you decide to jump off in the middle of travel.
Also when your character is running around on the ground firing causes it to stand still which gives your ship even more time to leave you behind.
Another feature would be a destination arrow so you know where you are headed.
@hatheus, I've been waiting for that comment. You can just walk off the edge of the ship, and it will leave you, lol. Thanks for the feedback (the directional indicator is a good one too.)
Very intresting idea! I like this gameplay and game concept
IT was fun to fight with monsters and deliver packages but i get some bugs.
1. Firstly character shoots to his direction and only after that rotate to the cursor. Also character can't movement when shoot - it's make gameplay less comfortable ezgif.com-video-to-gif (4).gif
2. Stucking in turrets when building them. On this gif i build one and stuck there. ezgif.com-video-to-gif (5).gif
3. Also i could spend my gold and bought turrets when i travelling, but they won't install on the car. In this gif you can see that i have 0 gold and two turrets. In the previous gif I also have 2 turrets but 200 gold. ezgif.com-video-to-gif (7).gif
4. And the last one bug or feature^^ You can drop or exit from car, but it still going. So you need to run after the car. It's too hard when you can't shoot to the monsters when runningš ezgif.com-video-to-gif (8).gif
Overall it's a awesome game and great job! My respect to gamedesigners, artist and other game developersā¤ļø
Great game! I really liked the modeling of the ship and the creatures, it made me feel in the world of "Dune". Very funny, the only thing I can say is that the player's life bar seemed unnecessary, to me since the objective is to improve and defend the main ship. Great job! xD
Nice mechanics Better the shooting should be more reactive nice grapics<3
Very cool game! Wish the boxes didn't take up so much space on the surface of the rig, and also to be able to shoot and move at the same time. I felt myself getting stuck on the corners of the rig and the cargo a few times. Great polish and aesthetic. I could see this as a full game.
I wish I could drive the rig :( It's a great concept and held my attention. I found some of the iconography a bit difficult to understand and I made some mistakes because I wasn't sure what I was doing. Overall a very cool game.
Great game. Nice progression
It's a great idea and really cool mechanics, the shooting felt off and it'd be pretty nice if you can zoom in and out, nice graphics!
Interesting gameplay, nice picture, good sound!
I like the vibe of it a lot! Can you share link to these assets? Also love the music, but SFXs are not impactful. Also player character feels a bit clunky, I wish it would rotate in mouse direction and shoot while running.
But as a proof of concept I think it works great, I'd love to play a game where you roam around the desert on a platform and shoot bugs, I think there's some good gameplay loop and mood in here!
I had some bugs and ended up spending all my money on turrets that didn't appear, then later got stuck under the rig, and eventually fell through the world as it dragged me around. You packed a lot in there though, so bugs are understandable. The gameplay felt pretty good and it's a good concept.
Very cool idea, would love if you could build your vehicle up from modular parts or something, along with the turrets. I had few problems with some bugs that prevented progression but overall great entry!
Wow insanely cool concept, executed very well.
The game have quite an atmosphere! Gameplay loop is really decent and I enjoyed the game a lot. I was a bit confused by the map as it doesn't show player's current position (at least I didn't see it) and conections between outposts, but after I started to pay attention it stoped being a problem.
Wow, fantastic job! I was very surprised to see this was a one-person effort. There are a couple of bugs that others have mentioned, and just some general jankiness around how the character controls, but it's a great concept and overall well-executed. It did have some serious graphical issues being played on the web, maybe something with the exporter? Great entry! :tada:
Really interesting concept! I love the feeling of moving on the rig through the desert.
There's not much to do however while its traveling. Maybe you could take inspiration from "Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime" and be able to walk up to a turret and take control of it!
Enjoyed this! I think if this were a full scale game the systems to improve the ship would be addictive and fun.
This is so cooool. Gives me deserts of kharak vibes. I love these kinda tower defense hybrid things especially if they are desert themed :D
Nice game theme realization. On of ours idea was the same game type, but... we choose the other one. Anyway, was fun to play the game we don't choose to make. :)
LOVED the vibes of roaming the desert on a convoy! Solid use of assets and effects. Enemies felt varied and interesting. Some ideas: for my first playthrough, it wasn't clear there was any way to win? I picked up cargo and didn't have a place unlocked that would take them. By the time they were delivered I was so low health and funds that i couldn't make another run. Also over all it didn't feel like i had too many decisions under my control that really influenced the outcomes. Overall I was really sold on the idea here. Defending a caravan and moving between outposts felt great. And the trading was a really interesting idea I'd love to see expanded. Lots of potential here!
Love the delivery spin on a classic tower defense type vibe. Something about riding the platform that I'm building on feels very cool. I had some trouble figuring out where certain items could/couldn't be delivered to at first but once I got it it always felt fresh planning out the trips. Big dig on the setting by the way, sand oceans are slick as hell.
That was pretty nice and quite amazing for a jam game to be honest. Sadly, I got stuck at the top-left most station and the rig wouldn't move anymore. There are some minor nitpicks here and there, like the lodading spelling error, the laser shot originating behind the gun and stuff like that, but that is pretty inconsequential for a jam game, in my opinion. I was slightly irritated that you are kinda hosed, if you go to the bottom stations first, since you can only deliver the white parsels at the top-left. But now that I think about it, I didn't need to load white now did I? You kind of do that on instinct though, at least in the first play-through. So that's my 50c. Overall I'm quite impressed.
Nice. Very moody game you've made. I love the music and feeling of the journey.
GIFs look stunning, but on my Mac it won't run correctly ā game starts generate a lot of graphical artifacts :(
Nice entry! I love the concept, especially how tower defense mechanics are built into the concept. It took some time to understand why I can't deliver packages to certain places, and once I fell under the rig and couldn't move out of it. But the game is really solid and I like it!
The game was pretty good! My computer wasn't handling the game very well and it was pretty laggy but I believe that is on my part, but I love the graphics! I was a little sad when you opted out of the graphics category because they look so nice! The only problem I had was the bug things at the beginning were sliding around really fast to the point I couldn't shoot them at all, but other than that this was a really fun game! Keep up the good work!
Really interesting one.
Visually cohese and it's nice to customize the rig.
Music feels fitting, although the hit effects could feel more powerful (the missile ones are cool though!).
In my first run I didn't understand much of what was happening, took me a while to shoot enemies because the build button was clicked and I couldn't shoot. It was also hard to understand the delivery rules, first I went to the echo station but couldn't do anything there. On my second run I noticed that the first cargo was the blue-ish one. It would be nice to have some other hint of what can be delivered where, I could see differ the blue and the white one, but the other ones looked the same (sucks being color blind).
I had a situation in which I fell from the rig but while still kept in it, as shown in gif. It soft locked the game for me as I couldn't move, although the rig carried me through one last trip to the echo station. Here is me under the rig shooting, unable to move. sands delivery.gif
One of missiles kept on spinning around at one point, I think it targeted a desert cockroach that died too soon, so it just stood there spinning around its dead body. Looked nice though.
The crosshair kept on juddering, it doesn't affect the experience but visually it's quite annoying. The player laser could have started slightly later to not appear behind the gun, but that's just me nit picking.
Overall a really cool game! I like the setting and the customization, congratulations!
fun and immersive gameplay, cute visuals, this game overall is super
that game is really impressive, a really strong entry :p
I played this with my boys and we all agreed that this was epic!
I loved the fact that the rig steers itself, and that you add to the rig.
Some minor nitpoints: The trading part was a bit confusing. Showing the routes between the stations would probably have helped. The UI could probably get an extra pass. It felt a little bit disjointed
Hi there, A really good take on the theme and gosh, how many of impressions makes bought, but anyway good assets. I did like the experience except one small thing - I wouldn't give a player chance to pick cargo type he/she can't deliver. I got stuck for a few runs because I picked a white one (which unlocked way later).
But aside of that I do like the idea and the execution
Very polished and cool.
The core concepts works very well and is a very unique approach. The shooting would be way less frustrating if the player aiming direction was applied before shooting. I like the detail of how the camera zoom in and out according to ship speed. With the ability to build ship extensions or "satellites" to build a cozy base out of your ship, it would have been perfect. I would LOVE to see this game in coop with adjusted swarm spawns and difficulty. Impressive work, well done !
Incredibly expansive scope for the time frame. I have been writing this so long that you actually updated the game :) The main thing for me is knowing that I will not be able to reach the destination node before I arrive at the drop off node. It just clicks that I have made the wrong choice in destination and I will for sure die in five trips. It doesn't feel good to be able to do nothing about your impending doom. Other than that, very cool concept and really well executed. Great Entry!
Itās polished, the assets are cool and nicely used (as you said, a part comes from assets store and it is very cool). The gameplay is so simple yet addictive and keeps you in for a long time without seeing the time flees. A bit sad that we canāt see the actual deposit available where we are, but itās nice and pretty fast to learn every different places. It went very very flawlessly, the mood is insane. GG
great game. i really think this could be made into something bigger. the difficulty scaled up pretty quickly but i was able to make a few deliveries. nice job!
Loved this game!
wow, pretty polished and a cool concept as well. It took me a bit to notice the color-coded packages, but then it worked out. Would have been cool to have a more customizable transporter (maybe even build your own), but thats probably out of scope for a jam game. Good job!
Definitely a lot of potential to take this game beyond the game jam, very cool concept!
Awesome game for a Game Jam, seriously, in 72 hours and you alone? Spectacular. A shoot em up with mouse and keyboard, I love these types of games. The design of the maps seems very successful to me and the tension of the game is also very well done. A well rounded game. Congratulations!
Wow, I love the visual style and the concept a lot.
However my experience playing wasn't the best, I did not encounter any bugs, but the balancing is just way too hard, I retried multiple times but could barely do anything, full gun turret, full rocket turrets, a mix of them, with or without armor, but it seems like nothing worked, I would always encounter a group with two big monster, a range one and a bunch of small units, and they would obliterate me.
I don't even get halfway through the health of the first big dude that they already destroyed the rig and lost me the game.
This feels especially bad because I have zero control over the rig, it just runs into monsters, gets stuck, and dies. I guess jumping out could slow it down, but that wouldn't do much either as the monsters would still come in contact and munch at the rig all the same.
Even the smallest enemies slow you down so much when colliding with them, I would expect such a huge machine to just roll over, maybe feel a bit of a bump, but no it just can't push through even one of them. I'm not even sure colliding deals damage.
That combined with automatic navigation makes for a very harsh punishment for something you can't avoid.
It seems like the blue cargo is the most valuable, the first delivery gives 200 coins, but the other cargo types are so not worth it, made a trip with yellow and I got 120 coins only !
You have to do multiple trips to get to a station that lets you load the stuff you want, then multiple trips to sell it, and you can't even afford a turret after the necessary repair, or you can get a turret but instead die to a couple small units that the turrets couldn't kill fast enough.
If I am to make a suggestion, I would make the turrets more powerful, let the beginning be on the easy side, just the player can get their bearings, setup the rig how they want, and reach their preferred station without already being half dead and completely broke.
Then I would remove the player's ability to shoot, playing as a turret helps a little bit DPS wise, but it's not much fun in my opinion. Instead I would see a gameplay similar to that of Guns Of Icarus, the idea is to have to tend to the vehicle while it's operating : - perform quick repairs on damaged stuff - move fuel about - change the power distribution - whatever else
I think it would be interesting if these actions allow you to have some indirect control on what the rig is doing. Maybe you diver all power to one side, making the it much more powerful at the cost of being defenseless on the other. Maybe being able to somewhat steer (not fully control the direction just slightly strafe around the predetermined route) so you could try to avoid running into the enemies face on.
It saddens me as I really like the idea and direction of the game, it reminds of Helldivers and Alien Swarm which I loved.
Well hopefully I wasn't too mean, I just really do wish I could enjoy the game more. Great job still, as you truly were close to getting it right.
@patatenouille Thanks so much for playing and the detailed review. I did have plans for more pilot actions (like repairs, launching decoys, manually triggering powerful turrets, etc.). Alas, with 72 hours I didnāt quite get there. I also didnāt really get in a victory state, so itās more about surviving as many trips as you can. It sounds like you got to the āendā with that number of turrets and enemies.
The iconography was a little bit confusing at first. Overall it's very polished, I didn get any bugs. Maybe for me it is a bit too slow and I find it a little bit disapointing that i cannot drvie the vehicle. Not My cup of tea but i think it is solid piece.
The level of completion in this game looks incredibly high, it's amazing! I really love the low-poly art style. I have a small suggestion: perhaps you could consider adding a map function? I really love this game and I think I could play it for hours!
Amazing game, Good music, I love the mechanics, Dune style... With more time can be a really interesting game!
Congratulations!
Fun game, with some unique concepts. Would be neat to see where you could take the concept as there's a lot of potential for innovation.
The looks really completed and polish, i didn't expect to see so many features in a gamejam game. Congrats
Super well designed, great upgrades, and some nice looking levels. I liked how I was a tower defense on wheels taking out bugs and delivering the goods. I got a Starship Troopers meets Dune vibe from this.
The missile turret was super fun and probably my favorite from my playthrough. I'll need to come back and play again.
My only problem was it was a little difficult for me to know where I was going for package delivery.
Overall, this was great and one of the best games I played.
This is really cool and very immersive. I walked off the front and got crushed underneath my own thingamajig though haha nice game
I was very impressed! From the no loading screens to the wonderful graphics (though I know you didn't model all of them) it is very polished. I do think that it would be really cool if you could control the vehicle yourself, of course for this to work you would have had to change some things and I know there wasn't much time for that. There is a lot of potential here and I think that is very evident in the amount of feedback you have gotten. I'd be curious how this turns out in the future. Overall, wonderful job!
I would definitely like to see more! Great potential here, it was a fun ride with nice ambiance.
Super interesting and fun game. One issue I noticed though is the vehicle kept driving when I jumped off and I couldn't get back on as the ramp for the vehicle did not come down and my character was still moving with the vehicle direction even though I was not on it. I don't know if that's intentional? Either way great game I see you put a lot of work into it!
Nice game with stunning visuals and mechanics that was created under three days. First and foremost, when I jumped off the vehicle, I couldn't get back in, and the vehicle constantly pushed the character forward. Aside from the issues, this is a great game.
Nice work!
The base idea is cool. Art and world looks really good. The rocket sound and art is super satisfying. The journey between points is a bit slow and not very interesting.
So incredibly ambitious! Crazy to think it was all completed in a weekend. This is definitely one of my favorite submissions so far, I love how many systems you put in the game. I agree with some other comments that the gameplay is a bit challenging, but I still had a great time.
Very impressive. I really love the loading and unloading robot sequences. That cha-ching gets me going and seeing the train of hauler bots is great. Combat was standard, but upgrading your rig with customized hardpoints is nice. I must say however, the cargo/delivery setup needs WORK. Multiple times I was stuck with one color of crate that no outpost would take so I couldn't pick up new ones they WOULD take and was forced to suffer through scheduling trips to nearby outposts that I couldn't interact with just to make the others reroll their allowed goods.
Well-polished and pretty fun to play---though I thought the traveling sections went on a little too long. I would prefer to have the enemy encounters closer together and make the total traveling time shorter. For 72h this is very impressive!
It looks like a complete game. Yes, there isn't a lot of content. Yes, there are enough bugs (especially graphical glitches). Yes, I would like to expand the mechanics. But the base is there, and it is quite strong. Good job.
Damn that's a big project for so little time, good job!
I ran into some issues (movement a bit awkward, got stuck in front of the car in the desert, turning and shooting behind you is a bit delayed and shoots backwards), but it's a fun concept.
I like that you can prepare for your journey and also be a part of the fighting, makes the game very engaging.
Love the idea of this and really big idea. I had issues with when my gun would and wouldn't fire and getting stuck with the ramp. Like the idea but after trying to play it a few times I had to give up due to bugs but I could see so much work and good ideas. Well done.
Very nice game, I really liked the concept, it's fun and the graphics are beautiful. Good job!
I really like mixing the idea of unloading cargo with tower deffence gameplay! The graphics and sound style do the job
Very cool game! This will make a great foundation if you decide to make a larger game; good job!
Pretty good, the graphics are impressive and the mix of mobile tower defence + delivery is good. However, I was confused with which stations were accepting or receiving a certain colour. Also needed a hint about which station to go to first after picking up the blue boxes.
Otherwise pretty good job.
