LD53 — Delivery

The Snack Shack by Sarah 2023-05-04T00:47:08Z

Cute graphics, fun organizational elements, nice music. It might be less overwhelming to at first start slow and build up to proper kitchen chaos. In general I dislike games about making money, but this was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. Great work!

TrainTrackTrouble by dikkop 2023-05-17T08:57:49Z

Great atmosphere! Grappling trees is incredibly satisfying. I think that a meter to show how much fuel you have would be a good addition.

Loading Zone by drazil100 2023-05-04T18:56:53Z

I like the sorting mechanic a lot. You should consider making the game endless. By this I mean something like tetris, endless if you are a computer. Really engaging I played for more than an hour. I like how the perception keeps switching between "I need this truck", "I need to clear the conveyor", and "I need to organize this mess". I think the biggest, easiest to implement improvement would be audio. not necessarily music but just sound feedback when you pick up/drop off a box. Overall really interesting mechanic and pretty good game feel. Thank you for making it!

Ravenhaul by Rongo Matane 2023-05-05T11:57:20Z

Fantastic game. Visuals and music are gorgeous and the game loop is very well crafted. I would have liked to be able to improve birds at the desk. Also you can accept a patron at the end of the day not have any contracts, and still have a reputation penalty with them. Amazing entry!

Mouth Feel by ColeSlaughter 2023-05-04T23:56:09Z

Loving the soapy humor, which is just made so much better by my utter incompetence in controlling the mouth. I don't think i have ever been more rewarded for sucking at a game. Very funny game Good work.

Asteroid Outlaws by GuitarBro 2023-05-03T10:29:59Z

The movement is well made and feels realistic. Reminded me of Outer Wilds. I found the spinning bug as well, it is fun to struggle with space flight! There doesn't seem to be a limit to how in debt you can go, or any real penalties for incurring the debt. In my opinion the money/buy/upgrade systems more get in the way of a fun spacey tug of war with asteroids(packages, deliveries?) than add to the experience. Great execution on the models and textures, really solid for the time frame.

Hexpress by RunicPixels 2023-05-04T14:35:27Z

Really nice Artstyle and palette. The sound is great as well. The mechanic of switching weapon based on the delivery you are making is very cool. The movement feels a bit too floaty and slidy. Amazingly creative wands though, Unu's Reversal especially was awesome to wield. Great game!

Too Hot to Hendl by Fis 2023-05-04T15:24:00Z

I really liked the hiding behind straw part of the design. The sound effect of the chicken picking up the box blends in a bit too much. Sometimes you jump straight through and sometimes you hit your head. A visual difference in the types of platforms would go a long way. I found myself often wanting to put down the box, without throwing it. Pretty visuals, and the sound design of the chicken is great. Really feels like a hen house. Good Job!

Punchline 'em all by Samoussa 2023-05-05T00:12:20Z

I really like the concept. If you could add actual the actual rhymes in the audio it would feel a lot smoother. Great interpretation of the theme!

On Time by SerialKamikaze 2023-05-04T23:20:26Z

Very impressed you made this in rust. however your game loop is broken. The problem is not having consequence to an explosion, the time doesn't drop and the score is unchanged. This means that the player can completely ignore the delivery part of the game and just go about collecting items. This whole thing seems to stem from when time is awarded. if you were to up the timer when the delivery is made, instead of when it is picked up.

Sundae Driver by ComicSans 2023-05-03T19:05:17Z

Fun for speed running. I don't understand the use for the go slow button though.

Mail-In Vengeance by YellowKamel 2023-05-04T19:20:12Z

The dragon was slain! we are saFe. Pretty fun little game :D

Orbit Express by BmanStudio 2023-05-03T14:50:20Z

The art and sounds are very nice, so is the concept. The spaceship does feel like it is lacking in thrust. I delivered a few packages and flew too close to a planet, but I reversed, spun the ship around and even though I got deep in the red zone I didn't actually crash.. and then there I stayed. Thrusters at full blast keeping me a cool constant 3 pixels from the planet.

Popcorn Odyssey by 0X_VOID_X0 2023-05-04T18:17:44Z

Very funny Awesome mechanics and overall really engaging. The camera zoom thing is awesome. The "ooh what is this?" is probably my favorite tutorial bit this whole jam! So clean, so simple, so effective. I had exactly one issue, the camera jarringly snapping back when you land. Love you included the BEES, but I am bias since my game is about them :) Awesome job, very cool game!

Lost & Found by droo shayne 2023-05-05T09:15:32Z

Really great game feel. The controls are responsive and do what is expected. The graphics are very nice and the music is quite relaxing for the dark setting. I would have liked it if the enemies were affected by the lights, so they just pop out of the darkness. Good work!

ShotFood by JKotov 2023-05-03T19:38:49Z

The art and sound are cute. I love that you can bounce food of the customers to get to the back of the line.

Mailville by the neon shark 2023-05-03T15:49:32Z

The animations and general game feel are amazing. The Artstyle is really cool, and the audio is fantastic, especially the "thunk" when delivering letters. The sliding mechanic is cool but the level doesn't require it in any way. Maybe if there were places you could only go through by sliding. Overall amazing Work!

Good Vibe Delivery by Kepsert 2023-05-03T23:49:03Z

The level of polish is very impressive. Loved the characters.

Careless Couriers by python-b5 2023-05-04T23:32:46Z

Nice art and groovy music. The movement is.. well not good. I tried for a while and I kept dying to cars, pedestrians, lamps, random building facades. In the end I didn't make a single delivery.

The Skeleton Delivery Experience by Exilon 2023-05-03T21:33:06Z

skelly.png Hello and welcome to this short presentation on workplace safety

Very cool game!

Frogivio by milq 2023-05-17T08:38:11Z

Cool idea with the physics objects in 2D top down. Your levels are very well designed. The gameplay elements are introduced at a good pace, and there is always a check to verify the player understands what is required. The collisions are very funky though. May want to consider a zero friction material. Also love the frog animation!

Commutator by Sodoj 2023-05-03T20:42:20Z

Awesome! Innovation and graphics are a solid 5/5

Drifting Trailer by martinboue 2023-05-03T09:34:59Z

Incredibly well executed, very polished experience. The drifting feels amazing.

C.R.A.B. signal by unkilledshadow135_Alex 2023-05-03T15:30:50Z

Victory for Crab Kind! Maybe consider adding the comics in between the levels to communicate how the battle went, but mostly because your comics are great.

Hexagons are the Bestagons!

Rain On Their Parade! by TomasPraestholm 2023-05-04T14:52:59Z

Such a beautiful and cozy feeling game! The credits were awesome as well. I normally try to give any constructive feedback but I am at a loss. Perfectly executed, interesting mechanics, nice soundtrack and gorgeous art. Amazing entry!

Oshumania by epic_zeta 2023-05-03T21:46:08Z

I like the controls and the particles marking the collectors.

Flooding Fisherman by JoaoPBax 2023-05-03T15:17:45Z

Beautiful game! Would have loved it if the story progresses as you play.

Love Birds by Franke 2023-05-03T09:14:45Z

overall super cute drawings, the story is very well delivered. I really liked the different end screens.

SatisfAction - The Ultimate Marble Machine by MarkAis 2023-05-03T11:11:33Z

You Sir have made a great game. It is engaging and quite challenging. I had a lot of fun playing! The design of the level is very well made, with enough points of crossing where marbles stalked. The UI is not so well made, apart from it blocking the view, it is hard to read and understand how you are doing in the game. I think It would be interesting to explore the meter starting from the middle and leaning in the direction of the most missed marbles. Overall Great Work.

Deep Sands Delivery by Rjdrag 2023-05-03T23:03:05Z

Incredibly expansive scope for the time frame. I have been writing this so long that you actually updated the game :) The main thing for me is knowing that I will not be able to reach the destination node before I arrive at the drop off node. It just clicks that I have made the wrong choice in destination and I will for sure die in five trips. It doesn't feel good to be able to do nothing about your impending doom. Other than that, very cool concept and really well executed. Great Entry!

Bomb Delivery by Sirius Deng 2023-05-03T21:23:28Z

The Freezing didn't work for me. I clicked to freeze the bomb and it stopped moving with the belt, however it still counted down and exploded. Also the rotation can be more responsive.

Cat Elite by Julvador 2023-05-03T19:24:39Z

The orbital mechanics are very well implemented. The game overall is quite engaging and rather fun to play. The volume slider could maybe hide after a while, and it would be cool if the edges of the map just seamlessly looped you back. The pull of the planets might be a bit too jarring on the line of gravity influence. Great work!

BANKWAVE: Neon Networth by Frabjous Studios 2023-05-03T23:21:10Z

The art is great. The music as well. The heavy papers please vibes are awesome. Though maybe a more instructional supervisor would be nice.

The last way by Arficord 2023-05-03T20:30:35Z

So I was walking on the path to the dock and I saw the water shader you mentioned, and I thought I should go take a closer look. I like shaders after all. So I go for a walk by the sea and :) WALK.png

I feel like you were too worried about collisions. Really liked your navigation system, beautifully done!

Hive by blank_3D 2023-05-03T11:23:18Z

@shadowbrain @maxi1234 @divi Sorry uploaded a wrong build. Fixing it now.

EDIT:FIXED should be playable, hopefully no issues.

EDIT 2: there were issues. now hopefully no issues.

Hive by blank_3D 2023-05-03T12:44:56Z

@divi the pollen(honey) in the hive not going up was a bug. I have fixed it in the current upload. Thank you so much for playing and giving feedback!

EDIT: as for the honey "on bee" it goes automatically to "in hive" when you enter the hive and you spend from the "in hive".

I looked into the not being able to build and its an artifact of my stupid design more than it is a bug. when you click a cell it activated and stops you from activating other cells while it is active. It can deactivated by clicking again. However when the cell is full of honey the green plus disappears and if the cell is surrounded then there is no longer a visual indication if it is active or not. Thank you so much for pointing it out!

I added a visual indicator when a cell is active

@drainkid I am sorry I don't know why you didn't get the audio effect. Thanks to your comment in the final release there are now volume options for the music and sounds

@sam-gorman @samoussa Thanks to you the tutorial has been reworked. I hope for the better, but I honestly have no idea how to judge this by myself.

LD55 — Summoning

Jiang Shifu by Sn4pi 2024-04-23T13:40:17Z

Really cool entry! I love the mechanic, it makes you feel like a ninja, which in a game where you cannot walk or run is very impressive. The graphics are great and the music is spot on. I am really struggling to think of any actual feedback to give you guys. Maybe there could be a more clear indication where you will appear. Anyway awesome work!

Summoners Incorporeal by NotExplosive 2024-04-21T23:35:37Z

This was really relaxing and engaging to play. Music was whimsical, and fit very well. I like casual writing in games, and yours flowed very well. The puzzles were interesting if a bit too easy. I enjoyed the choice you made to encourage exploration with curiosity. It felt very natural and rewarding to explore the connected rooms. Was there a way to pick up the objects that were on the tables, maybe I missed something. that potato. The movement felt a little clunky at times, but it didn't get in the way. Mostly I kept forgetting what items did and had to go to the book so many times. I think it would be better if you had a pop up when you are next to the item, maybe with a toggle. Otherwise it was an exceptionally pleasant, and enjoyable experience. Luudum Daarey solutes you!

Chuck It Up The Mountain by gamesplusjames 2024-04-16T15:19:34Z

I love how derpily happy Doug is when you pick him up. Nice!

Tristram by Rongo Matane 2024-04-21T21:49:36Z

Your entries are always very compelling. The party selection gets hard to click and hard to make out who belongs to what party, after a certain point. There doesn't seem to be much you can do with the gold you are getting as well. I think more stuff for the player to do will not hurt. In any case incredible music, very charming art style, and awesome mood. Great work!

Kalòmancer by BinarySpark 2024-04-16T14:18:20Z

You have done an amazing job balancing this under the jam constraints. I really like the idea of modifying your cards. notes on mechanics:

With the card creator mechanic I just feel that it is begging me to create a completely broken deck, full of creatively overpowered cards that have some insane synergies. But I doesn't seem to let me. I tried a bunch of different combinations, and while they worked very well, they just didn't feel broken. Since you have drawn inspiration from Inscryption, I think you will understand what I mean.

I have a bit of a problem with the attack random enemy mentality of auto battlers in general. It just feels to me that it is taking out a very welcome strategical element from the gameplay i.e. being able to predict the outcome of ending your turn. But this is a general discussion with valid points on both sides and not really aimed at your submission. though I would like to hear your thoughts on this :)

the deck builder is very engaging, I spend quite a bit of time there. it would be nice if you could layout your deck in the middle to get a better overview of what you are working with. the base cards being in the side drawer if you need to create a new modification.

Cool entry, innovative approach, love the deck building.

gladiatorium by Jejkobb 2024-04-20T21:52:44Z

The art style is charming, and the music is delightful. The animations look great, and add a ton of character to the gladiators. Drawing feels very nice and fluid. only clicking is a bit finicky, since the game assumes your panicked mouse motion to get a someone out, is a drawing input. Overall very polished and cozy experience. Thank you for making it!

GODAI: The Ninja Way by exofrenon 2024-05-02T21:46:59Z

Really cool retro vibes! The collision boxes are a bit too punishing for me :) but I am very bad at platformers, so take that with a grain of salt.

A Grave Mistake by JUSTCAMH 2024-04-22T13:13:40Z

I really enjoyed the puzzle game part of this. The mechanic was simple to grasp, yet had enough depth to feel fresh. I only found one place where I had to break a block in order to use it in another combination, which is an aspect of the mechanic that could be further explored. I didn't enjoy the memory game part of this. The graphics and music are on point. The effects are really good, and the game feels responsive, and gives enough feedback. Cool game, good job!

Middleman Summons by Jvdwijk 2024-04-21T13:34:25Z

I like the concept of being the middle man of the summoning rituals a lot. Like others have mentioned, it could be clearer about linked platforms and what items come from what portal. I think making it real-time could be very interesting, as it would allow to spawn everything from a single portal and then have to redirect orders enroute. Nice entry!

Entity Summoner by Usenrame 2024-04-17T00:01:05Z

I really like that all the recipes are unlocked from the beginning. I also like the wiggle hinting. Having a limited number of chances is a very good. It is a shame that *the spoilers* are only really effective once. Overall good entry!

SUMMON THE COLOSSUS by aerloth 2024-04-17T00:52:30Z

The choice of a fixed camera angle is a bold one. I like it. It is a very good way to keep the player on track. I feel the Journey vibes as well. Y to jump is super weird to me, shoulder buttons instead of triggers as well. The effect from the spheres is out of this world amazing. Very cool entry!

Throes of the Javelin by MatterLinx 2024-04-21T22:17:58Z

I only wish that I was better at platformers to truly enjoy this. The mechanic is incredibly interesting, the music and art are great, and the level of polish you managed to achieve in 72 hours is super impressive. Amazing work!

Chain Reaction by Ategon 2024-04-21T16:17:28Z

Great experience! It is a very interesting mechanic to basically herd hostiles together so they can fight each other while you scoop in to get the loot. Music was awesome. Art is also great. The upgrade mechanic is well thought out and balanced. Really polished for a jam game!

Dumb Rock by Answer21 2024-04-20T21:27:37Z

The thing that bothers me is the lack of feedback when you press correctly. It would have been amazing if you got an audio que.

Over Scoped by blank_3D 2024-04-16T13:22:10Z

@kilian-baptendier I did the math, from 7 base ingredients, with 5 slots to fill there are about 120 distinct combinations of things. I did not add 120 thing to summon in the game. I have tested it and all the summons work. However @creseda the results of summoning are kind of random, there is no fixed recipe for anything, but rather every ingredient has a bunch of tags, and every summon a bunch of tag requirements. When a summon is preformed, it looks through all possible summons and checks if their required tags are met. If they are they are added to a pool, and then one of those is summoned at random. So the same items will not necessarily summon the same thing every time.

Over Scoped by blank_3D 2024-04-19T22:33:43Z

@usenrame if you are asking how many things can be summoned its 10 in the updated build that is live now. In the Jam build there were more things, but a lot of them felt very flat, so I cut them out. I think It was around 15. If you are asking for recipes, it is a bit of a weirder answer. Every summon has a recipe associated with it but it is very short, like up to three ingredients in the current build. When you activate the thing, it checks which summons you have collected the ingredients for, and pulls one at random from those. I haven't done the math on this, but now it feels like more often than not something will be summoned, rather than nothing. One thing I would implement next time, would be some sort of pseudo randomness, so when you repeat a recipe you get a different result immediately, and not eventually like it is now.

Demon's Tower by Planetary 2024-04-22T14:53:01Z

It is a very nice concept, and I like the simple visuals, especially the explosion effect using the same sprites as the thing it spawned from is very cool. Some notes on the mechanics:

The player is encouraged to ignore the cards. There is no explanation of what the card does when in game. It is never explained that the money in game is different from the money you use to upgrade, meaning it is natural to assume that it is the same resource. Leading to not using cards in order to save up to buy upgrades. Upgrading the cards at random does not allow for strategic deck building. The card effects are have a long build up, which makes them bad for pulling you out of tough spots. And the card effects are very short, which means you need to spend a lot of your resource to keep being able to use the card, effectively. The cards that builds a tiny tower is very nice, and so is the death wave. The rest are difficult to use well because of the delay in the summoning.

The upgrades are static, and the enemies scale with the wave counter. This means that there is always a point at which the enemies will overpower everything.

My suggestion would be to have the cards be free to play, and start the player of with some basic ones. I would also remove the upgrade shop, and have the player choose an upgrade after every wave. Maybe even remove the card shop and have the cash be used to draw new cards.

Overall it is nice idea, and I did spend a ridiculous amount of time playing. So great work!

Pizza Lord : Slice to the beat ! by Mealky 2024-04-20T21:38:38Z

Cool game! I was very bad at it unfortunately.

Goblimancer! by phost.dll 2024-04-20T20:59:55Z

There is a definite lack of feedback to the player. It felt like none of my minions were doing anything, and when the big boss comes he is very much on top of you even if you spam speed boost. That being said the music was banging and it was very fun to play! Great job!

bergs by burnttoastdev 2024-04-17T00:27:21Z

You fully deserve your full points for innovation and music. You have made a really cool puzzle platformer. I feel that this mechanic has a lot of potential to be expanded upon. The controls could be a bit more forgiving. Great Entry!

NECRO RUSH by helviett 2024-04-20T19:59:36Z

The LOL when you die seems unnecessary! The characters are awesome, and their animations are were well done. the environment could use some love though. Nice perimeter wall, by the way. Cool entry!

DURO by Fenix131113 2024-04-20T19:47:00Z

Hey! You guys made a very cool puzzle game. I like to give in-depth feedback wherever applicable so here we go.

The earth and natural wizards, seem underused in your puzzle design. Since they act like obstacle toggles, they can be equally efficient in any space on the board and therefore don't quite feel like an integrated part of the puzzle. Also one is on a timer and the other is activated by clicking?

There were times when the ice or fire wizard would not be able to fire through a lowered wall. I initially thought it was intended, but then after turning them a bunch times they started to fire appropriately. However I believe bugs are a very welcome and necessary part in a jam game, so good job letting one through :)

The 3-second timing mechanic was underutilized, assuming you implemented it to give a time sensitive element to your puzzles. I found no spot where there was any time window that it created. As a result it felt a bit annoying to just wait, after placing everyone where they should be.

I love the sudden difficulty spike in the last two levels!

Overall it is a great entry, good job!

Monster Monastery by shamotte 2024-04-16T15:12:07Z

I am not sure what so many thing are and/or do.

do the units have stats different than health? Are some better for crafting/fighting/gathering? What does crafting do exactly? What does the count on buildings control/do? Is there a way to know what a building will do before I build it?

I like that you can set priorities for each unit. Even though it quickly becomes really unmanageable. It would be nice to have a setting that applies priorities to all future summons. Also it would be really nice if you could tell what a unit is currently doing. Like a little icon above their head that show you what their action is. I was being attacked and I see a bunch of my guys coming to fight, and then walk past the enemies to collect recourses :)

A Following Wind by digitaliliad 2024-04-21T22:45:56Z

I really liked that the wind keeps going, it brings an unexpected strategic element. I think that either a bit more control or a bit clearer feedback, would really bring it out better. Cool entry!

Summoner's Stand by Mahobear8 2024-04-21T11:29:23Z

Going by the unit descriptions it feels like I am missing something. The sylph is supposed to be ranged, but I found no way to get it to attack at range. The hydra was supposed to do area damage, but it only did single target, and got damaged every turn. I like the idea, but I think having units that move and attack differently would be a great improvement. Also having more active abilities would help with the strategy, not getting stale. Overall it was definitely engaging to play, and I like the board game / tower defense vibes I am getting from it. Very ambitious for compo, and very well done!

TAKE ME HOME by PlintusB 2024-04-16T14:39:07Z

Instead of the load/decline menu popping up, you should just pick up the animal directly, and then have a rejects bin to put it, by letting go of mouse click. I also think this will remove the possibility of certain bugs occurring. I also managed to break the game when I let a bear go into the ship on its own just to see what would happen, and as it went up I realized exactly where it was heading, clicked on it, the load/decline popup appeared and then the bear disappeared, gave me -25, but the pop up stayed, with its button not doing anything. then all other animals that came after I had the ability to pause. but not interact with, since the popup from the bear was still up. While in general I was a little confused as to why I was suddenly sorting animals, your art is nice, the atmosphere is chill, and the "potato bear" was very funny.

Demon Doodles by Storeyware 2024-04-20T18:56:10Z

I played with a drawing tablet, it was still very challenging to complete the drawings. Summoned a bunch of squirrels though! I would suggest having a way to get more time. Like the pretty pictures. Nice Entry!

TANKZ by Funday Games 2024-04-16T11:42:45Z

Hey guys. Thronefall vibes indeed, but with this art style and the juicy bullethell elements it is just so satisfying to play. The tank is amazing, it has so much personality that it feels like a character.

Some notes on mechanics: The timer to the next wave doesn't seem to be doing anything for the gameplay, I felt time pressure only once in the beginning when I was reading what the upgrades did, and the rest of the time I was simply spawn camping the enemy wave and waiting for the timer to run out.

Holding down a button to go faster did not really make sense to me since I never let go of the button, there is no reason, at least that I can see, to go slow.

the oil feels a bit one dimensional, as in it can only do two things, upgrade turrets, or invest in more oil. Other things it could be used for from the top of my head would be, to repair the tank, or to spend on drawing more upgrades for it. Just to allow the player to decide on how they will play the next wave, will you spend more on turrets an then hide behind them, or do you heal and go tank, like the chubby little tank that you are :)

Being able to jump of the cliffs, is a really great mechanical addition with a ton of potential. I allow you to tackle verticality in a way the enemies cannot, and has the potential for some very interesting level design to be built around it. Due to the floaty gravity and lack of response when landing I feel this was not planned for, but is definitely an awesome addition.

Very nice entry, again that tank is so Good!

EDIT: I just noticed that by holding A you can speed up the timer. So I no longer have any notes on the timer mechanic. :) I also found out tankz can fly when you stand on a building, which is awesome!
