The tutorial looks amazing! or at least the run and jumping part of it does. Unfortunately I seem to be falling infinity right before where I would be picking up the small yellow orb. At first I thought it was a cool subversion at the end of the tutorial, but after waiting and watching a black screen I'm worried it might actually be a bug. I played the itch.io version if that helps. Anyway, well done on graphics and sound.

moritz-jaeger 2024-04-16 19:36

I really wanted to try this since the screenshots look really cool. But sadly i fall through the floor in the first room with the orb everytime on all versions (itch web, mbz web, win). :(

locksmitharmy 2024-04-16 19:37

Reminds me of Journey, I love these thematic games, great work.

simonbw 2024-04-16 19:38

I can't seem to get past the tutorial part. I get just past the part that says "Space to jump", and then there's an invisible hole in the floor that I can't seem to jump over or get around. None of the options in the menu work when I click them either.

The screenshots look super cool, I just wish I could get to them.

isayneigh 2024-04-16 19:40

Same as the above. Keep falling through a floor right before the orb. Turning notifications on in case ya'll get it fixed!

leiv-erik 2024-04-16 19:44

Really beautifull game. I struggled with the intro as i kept falling into the pit and had to restart from the menu. after some time trying i just went with spawn at temple or something and then the game could begin. Some cool mechanics with the little orb that i really liked. generally i had to figure stuff out with trial and error, would love some indications about what to do or where to go.

Good job with such a pretty 3D game in this short amount of time!

eonarheim 2024-04-16 19:55

I seem to fall through the floor right at the jump portion on the web build :(

satolas 2024-04-16 19:58

Sorry about the falling bug that's definitely a game breaking bug. There is a collider there that should work actually. Sometimes WebGL is unable to resolve the collisions with enough precision but it seems to happen also on the Windows build. We'll check that right now :)

thecze 2024-04-16 20:19

I keep on falling through the floor right after the jump tutorial text. Am I doing something wrong?

aerloth 2024-04-16 20:46

@tamara188 @moritz-jaeger @simonbw @isayneigh @leiv-erik @eonarheim @thecze thanks for catching the bug and sorry that it happened!

we tested multiple times but somehow it got trough! the floor in the intro area should now be fixed both in WebGL and Windows versions

if you liked the COLOSSAL vibe we would be super grateful if you would give it another go!

vodzik 2024-04-16 23:23

Really polished game! Sense of scale and mood are amazing. It could be a part of the bigger project. Great job!

grimw0lf 2024-04-16 23:24

Great game! I'm a sucker for atmospheric puzzle games, so I really enjoyed my time with this one!

My favourite level was easily the 3rd one (The one with the levers, I did them out of order so I may be mixing them up!). I wasn't a huge fan of the first two levels where you essentially just try to walk to the end, but I was intrigued enough by the premise of summoning whatever the heck I was summoning to power through it.

I do feel like the summoning theme was used very loosely here. I didn't really understand how my actions were directly contributing to the summoning of the colossus, and I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get to actually see it at the end. The theme almost felt like an after thought.

All in all, I'd love to actually see more of this! I feel like there's an interesting story to tell here, and I hope you have plans to continue with the project past the jam!

satolas 2024-04-16 23:36

@grimw0lf Thanks for your feedback :) If you complete all 4 levels you can see the colossus you "created". at the end of the temple. Indeed we plan to continue with this project.

Thanks for playing the game and your critics are very welcome we are here to improve our gamedev skills :)

grimw0lf 2024-04-16 23:41

@satolas Oh? At the end I got on an elevator and just saw the credits roll. I must have not have been paying attention! Sorry about that! I might play it again later to actually see it haha!

shanzhai 2024-04-16 23:45

That was great. Like, really amazing. And by far the coolest intro I've seen in any jam. One minor thing though:

Picking up the first Sphere for the first time had me restart the game. Why, you ask? Let me tell you my tale:

I thought RB and LB refer to the mouse buttons which wouldve been great with wasd-controls, so I chose to try them. Didnt work. Then it came to me that it probably refers to controller buttons - fair enough, i thought, theres still E and CTRL left. E however is really awkward to press when you have to use wasd to move.

So I held down control and picked the thing up. The moment I wanted to move, the tab closed.

Because CTRL + W closes Windows/Tabs. So yeah, the web build is currently kinda prone to having the player murder it by accident if run in a Windows-environment. :D

satolas 2024-04-16 23:59

@shanzhai Thanks a lot for your feedback ! Is nice people tell this kind of little things, because sometimes we focus a lot on other things like models, levels, gamplay etc... but we didn't really thought about this problem. I hope you could still go to the end and enjoy the game :) Cheers !

satolas 2024-04-17 00:00

@grimw0lf No worries :) We have definitely space for improvement ahah

ungarblapp 2024-04-17 00:09

I really enjoyed this. It gave me Journey vibes, (especially the solar wind level), I think the radiation + levers level was my favorite, but I liked the whole experience. It was very atmospheric stuff and it just looked great! I went back for second go of the radiation level because I really enjoyed force wielding the boxes around! Great Work!

nomus 2024-04-17 00:48

Pretty cool game, very moody and the sense of scale is really well done I tried to do radiation level without using any levers by boosting myself with rocks but when i climbed the last giant door it just got me stuck inside, so i had to do it manuallly after all hehe one thing is that i couldn't see the first cover for some reason in solar wind so i spent a bit of time here but overall very nice and soothing experience, great work

blank-3d 2024-04-17 00:52

The choice of a fixed camera angle is a bold one. I like it. It is a very good way to keep the player on track. I feel the Journey vibes as well. Y to jump is super weird to me, shoulder buttons instead of triggers as well. The effect from the spheres is out of this world amazing. Very cool entry!

k-toll 2024-04-17 01:58

"Atmospheric experience" is a well-chosen term. That feeling of space and immensity, accompanied by that soundtrack... it's so good it gives you goose bumps! The soundtrack reminds me of producer Lorn's style, dark with the occasional glimmer of light... I really appreciate it. The intro is cool, setting the tone straight with the film credits style. The sonar mechanism for opening doors or finding your way around is particularly appealing to me. The mechanics are pretty well balanced, and so are the movements compared to the scenery, with lots of depth. The scenery is minimalist but effective, except for the fixed view, which can cause problems on elements of the scenery that you can't see when you go back... and a few collision bugs, but nothing serious to appreciate. Maybe I didn't do everything I could to summon the colossus, but I would have liked to see it.

Well done for all your hard work!

Thanks for the sound Sato!

erik-tate 2024-04-17 02:05

The intro was insane and the sense of scale playing this game is really something. I love how mysterious it is and the background "music" really drives that feeling. The ending low-key triggered my megalophobia but was super cool. I the mini games are pretty simple and straightforward, but I think this more of an experience at the end of the day. Really impressive to pull off during the jam and a job well done

braktheman 2024-04-17 02:11

Fun game loved the vibes and some of the puzzle felt well crafted. Ended up falling off the platform during the end credits and plummeting to my doom but no regrets.

Nice job.

human-writes-code 2024-04-17 09:10

This is a BIG game for a jam. The mood and atmosphere in it is excellent due to a great colour palette and choice of ambient sounds.

I enjoyed the puzzles, however, I have to admit that I found you could grab the wood planks then jump repeatedly to levitate yourself into the air, then you could just run over the walls and doors etc. That was also pretty fun to do, but probably not intended.

An impressive achievement in such a short amount of time!

jean-francois 2024-04-17 17:47

A very good game, the atmosphere and ambiance are excellent, a bit of trouble opening the first door ^^' a few glitches but very good game for my 3 days :) the sound and graphics are incredible!

usenrame 2024-04-18 23:19

for some reason game is not playable on my mac :C

greenradiation 2024-04-19 09:43

The game looks very beautiful and cinematic. It would be great if there were more puzzles and they were more complex. But I really liked the section with the "feeling ball." Great job!

pfannkuchen 2024-04-19 09:43

The atmosphere is really strong with the music and the visuals and I likes some of the puzzles, but I wish there was more to this game. Some epic culmination with the colossus. Eventually there's no summoning element :(
