LD44 — Your life is currency

Almost free by Listonos 2019-05-01T01:40:33Z

What a great game! It definitely could've benefited from some audio, and there being no ending when you die was odd, but otherwise great game! Certainly can't fault you for not having those things given the time constraint.

AstrO2 by Khamekaze 2019-05-01T11:16:03Z

Fun! The controls were difficult, obviously due to the physics. But not painfully so, it felt like an environment I had to get better to overcome rather than be annoyed with. I think it could've benefited from some audio, and graphics could've been better, but as a 3 day game jam I think they're sufficient. I can't even do 3D models so i'm impressed even that they are there at all.

Good job!

Minus by DrSkort 2019-04-30T18:10:33Z

The music is perfect for the theme! It was very challenging which I like in a platformer. The art was acceptable. It _was_ weird for "C" to be the jump button, I would've expected a space, but that's minor. Overall a fun experience!

Minus by DrSkort 2019-04-30T18:50:14Z

@drskort yeah sorry for the lack of detail on the art. I left it vague because honestly I believe it comes down to personal preference. I'm partial to a little more detail (specifically the player and the background). What I did like though is that it was cohesive! Everything fit together nicely. Don't get me wrong, i'd play this any day (i'm not a stickler for graphics). I just feel if _anything_ could be improved, it'd be that.

BloodVirus by Team-on 2019-05-01T01:30:23Z

It definitely fits the theme! I think it's an interesting concept and given more time i'm sure it would've been even better. I think it would've benefited from some sort of auditory feedback, and I was a little confused most of the time. Building didn't seem to do anything (at least, I waited for a while and didn't see any visual feedback). Perhaps an issue with Unity's WebGL build and the quality of hosting itch.io provides, I know i've seen a lot of issues with local vs. hosted instances of my own game.

Overall I like the concept! Good job given the time limit.

p-p-p-Pew by 5n1p3r_4r73m1s 2019-04-30T12:34:00Z

Crash for me too on Chrome. The title screen showed, and then the UI showed, but the sound went out and the screen was black.

Slotbot Arena by isayneigh 2019-04-30T18:03:31Z

Apreciate it! I know there's some issue with the "rapidly press space" mechanic, but I ran out of time. I would've really liked to balance the game more. It's hard doing it solo!

Slotbot Arena by isayneigh 2019-05-01T11:08:36Z

@trozen i'm sorry you couldn't get past stage 1. I didn't want it to be that difficult, but I ran out of time and honestly I focused too much on art and presentation that I lost out on improving core mechanics. I really would've like to balance it more. You weren't playing it wrong, it's just overly difficult :joy:

@schmavery Great job! I haven't even been able to do that :joy:. I considered that mechanic with shooting in the direction of the mouse, but unfortunately the way I programmed it made it difficult to shoehorn that idea in later in the game jam. This is just a lesson learned for me, I need to have my design more well thought out before I start writing code.

@sherlock527 I must've gotten lazy and forgot to make sure the generation point for the bullet was in the center. Thanks for pointing it out.

Glad you all enjoyed it

Slotbot Arena by isayneigh 2019-05-01T21:36:29Z

Agreed it's hard @jofersgames lol. Next time around I want to work with a team so I can offload the art to someone else and I can focus more on balancing. Appreciate the feedback!

Slotbot Arena by isayneigh 2019-05-02T01:29:03Z

@listonos that's fair. 2 mechanics is probably too many. Still learning! But I also think if I had time to refine those mechanics it would've been a better experience. Thanks spent a little too much time on the art and the game as a whole (title screen, credits, tutorial).

Tiacol - A journey through life by Camocc_Studios 2019-05-02T18:30:09Z

Really artistic, I enjoyed it.

Coin War by jjones 2019-05-01T18:12:24Z

This is super interesting. I think the atmosphere could've been improved with some ambient tunes, but the coin FX were still cool! The letters were irritating for me because it seemed like there should be some predictable movement but I don't think there was. Overall a fun quick arcade style game!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Fox! Hen! Bag! by 0x01F0 2020-04-23T14:41:50Z

Ha what a fun little game. I don't have much feedback, most of the aspects were great. I will say that it'd be nice to skip the trolley ride scene, but that's not a huge deal. I also really like the simple art style, it seems like that's been getting popular in the past couple of years.

Guard'ner by superjai 2020-04-22T23:38:03Z

Art is very nice. The sound effects and music were well suited for the game. You definitely got the theme perfectly imo. If I could suggest anything it'd be to add a bit more balance. I felt frantic rushing between the water pump and swatting flies. Obviously it shouldn't be easy, but it felt hectic for me.

But still a great game. Thanks for letting us play!

Keep it Alive - the Rectangle that is by gonutz 2020-04-25T02:59:16Z

What an original concept, i'm always surprised by the ingenuity of the game development community when it comes to puzzle games. I liked it and it was definitely a challenge. I like how the learning curve is just part of the game rather than a constraint born out of poor design.

The audio was oddly...fitting. Not to say it wasn't annoying :joy: but it felt right for the design of the game. If you worked on this anymore i'd like to see improved graphics and variety in the audio.

Potater Toss by BoxedMeatRevolution 2020-04-23T13:25:12Z

Haha this is hilarious. It's fun, the art is weird, and it fits the theme. Great how you took simple gameplay and made it addictive, sometimes that's all you need!

Woodpunk by elisee 2020-04-22T17:53:48Z

Impressive to have been made in 3 days. I don't have much feedback, everything was so good. I could see myself buying this for the Switch. Incredible job.

Egg Simulator by Gnarly Narwhal 2020-04-23T22:01:47Z

~~Doesn't seem like there's a EXE in the windows version? Am I supposed java installed?~~

Missed that it was a COMPO game. Woops.

Part Of The Ship by LordKawaii 2020-04-22T13:19:58Z

This was actually really fun. It was so simple but I actually felt a level of intensity that made me want to keep playing. I'm at work so i'm using a trackpad which makes it even more difficult. And the ending screen was hilarious :joy:. Like others have said, the UI *could've been more detailed but it's a jam! imo that feedback is helpful only if you plan to improve upon the game.

For Seraphina by Herrybiscuit 2020-04-21T14:49:52Z

Simply beautiful. The music and the theme really hit you and immerse. I would play this in full if you improve upon it.

AmbiSphere by X-c 2020-04-22T13:30:27Z

What a great experience. It's a classic challenge and I could'nt stop playing haha. The audio is fitting and the art is enough to get the point across. I ~would've~ liked some more visual feedback when hitting the yellow lines or otherwise taking damage. Still amazing you did this in one day.

Through the Woods by stefanomusilli96 2020-04-22T17:27:03Z

Don't sell yourself short! This was a good play. I have to say the concept of using UI elements to move your character was different, but not in a bad way. Personally I hate keyboard controls.

I feel like you payed close attention to User Experience because I felt like I could pick up the game real fast despite no obvious explanation of controls. So good job there!

While the graphics are free assets, I still appreciate the art. Using free assets so you can dedicate more time to development is a skill in itself. It's one I can learn better since I tend to spend too much time designing the game instead of handling logic.

Overall, what a good first game jam!

a Very Talented Worm by unplugred 2020-04-21T18:16:32Z

Haha this is great. Really fits the theme. I liked the splash screen, did you pay for Unity Pro or is that just a Scene?

The gameplay was fun and challenging and the sound effects fit. good work.

Pet Sitter! by Sockyman 2020-04-21T15:08:49Z

HE SHOULD BE ENDLESSLY HAPPY hahaha. It's a cool little game. I appreciate the simple art style.

Legacy by tylerstraub 2020-04-23T01:15:57Z

I really love a good puzzle game. I enjoyed this. The audio was incredibly immersive, especially for something so simple. I don't have much valuable feedback other than it'd be cool to see this built out into a full fledged game, maybe a simple puzzle game on Steam for $1.99.

Maybe the graphics could be improved? Idk, it doesn't seem too important to this genre but I could see it bothering some people.

Great game!

Solar by thevinter 2020-04-22T18:59:20Z

Fun! I enjoy the art and the audio was well suited for the atmosphere of the game. The controls were simple so that was great too. It even stuck to theme perfectly.

I would've liked for the game to still be visible up until the life bar depletes, but it actually gets pitch black with some life to spare which was unfortunate.

I would love to see this as a full fledged game

Running Old Game On Windows 10 Simulator 2020 by Kszaku 2020-04-21T19:39:49Z

Jokes on you, I always keep .NET Framework *just in case*. Very interesting concept

Memories Alive by Vilja 2020-04-24T05:24:05Z

I felt the music and atmosphere was great. I wasn't entirely clear on the goal though. What was the memo pad for? Is my goal to have certain memories in there before the game ends?

I also noticed I could use my mouse scroll wheel to go back and forth. Not a big deal but I thought you'd like to know.

The concept as a whole was interesting though. I might give it another go.

Treevenge by Kr4sh3 2020-04-21T14:53:37Z

Great concept! The controls were tough to get used to and the initial difficult seemed high, but I still enjoyed it. Great art design as well.

Eveleen by isayneigh 2020-04-21T18:06:42Z

@phoenix-fireflower you're correct. The hardest part is really trying to write it in a way that makes the player feel it, especially in 3 days :joy:

Eveleen by isayneigh 2020-04-22T21:17:09Z

@john-snyder yes that pains me I couldn't get that in. I tried to explain it in the game description. I spent too much time on some of the decision logic and I never got to add a proper ending. It's something I'm working on now. Thanks for playing and the feedback!

Eveleen by isayneigh 2020-04-22T22:09:23Z

@notapixelstudio oh no, sorry! I will try to get a web version. That's what I wanted to do initially but there was some issues with resource management that I didn't have time to work out. Thanks for trying, hopefully I can get a web version that's playable.

Eveleen by isayneigh 2020-04-23T14:09:17Z

@x-c  that's a good idea. I can see how having the continue in the same spot as the actions would cause issues. I'll see if I can improve on that.

Regarding the "Continue" button disappearing, that was intentional so that users *have* to read the story. But actually...it might be better to just not hide it and trust that the user will read it through (at least the first time).

Eveleen by isayneigh 2020-04-24T05:42:13Z

@pilarius Initially I avoided it because there was a memory management issue, possibly because of the scripts being packaged with the game. I moved those to a hosted location and now they're getting pulled via request. But for some reason the calls fail *only* in itch.io. Still going to work on it some, but appreciate the feedback. Sorry you're unable to play!

Eveleen by isayneigh 2020-04-24T12:52:15Z

@trexxak it's not my own handwriting. I would've liked that, but making your own typeface is tough so I just opted for a free one. Also i'm happy the game invoked emotion (though I hope it wasn't a negative trigger :worried: ). I really wanted to convey feelings of helplessness and depression in the game, and I knew it'd be tough since i'm not a writer.

@morandigame Thanks for the feedback, i'll look into that. I technically had that to begin with but decided to take it out so it was more immersive. You can see one of the screenshots on the game listing above still has the bars :joy:. Also, i'm otw to play your entry right now

Eveleen by isayneigh 2020-04-25T02:40:09Z

@juliaanna thanks for pointing that out. Whoops :face_palm:

Eveleen by isayneigh 2020-04-25T02:50:17Z

@rexagon :face_palm: thanks for testing it's limits, i'm sad I didn't catch that to begin with.

Eveleen by isayneigh 2020-04-26T19:28:36Z

@marxy-37 there's a threshold for when her mood changes. It takes at least 2 bad choices to bring your mood down and a total of 4 to get the "worst" ending, for lack of a better word. I think the mistake I made is improving her mood when you make a good choice. So it's possible for you to keep the balance through all 5 chapters. Which, really, reflects reality a little more but does make for a confusing experience. It's probably worth it for me to put an indicator in there so people know how their choices are affecting her.

A 90s Game! by John Snyder 2020-04-22T16:39:59Z

Pretty neat! The theme definitely fits and I like the intensity of going to hell for a loss haha. I agree with others that the zoom could be taken out, but it wasn't a huge issue. Likewise with the bounding box on the tree. The art was done nicely a well. Thanks for letting us play!

Gard3n From H3ll by Stefan6435 2020-04-23T22:04:58Z

Some visual feedback would go a long way. Simply fading the alpha channel on the flowers would've been helpful to know which one's were dying.

The art could be improved upon, but I really enjoyed the color scheme. It truly gave that Halloween/Spooky feeling. I would keep at this, a few Quality-of-Life improvements and you've got a fun little game here.

The Sapling Sage by LukeBenkart 2020-04-22T13:01:02Z

I enjoyed the atmospheric music and the interface/graphics look incredible imo. I honestly couldn't figure out what I was suppose to do  I just kept walking around and then the camera would hover back to my starting point and ask if I wanted to restart. I'll have to try again when i'm not at work.

DiscoPuzzle Flooring Inc. by Marxy 37 2020-04-22T14:13:22Z

Captur5.PNG

Looks to be some screen size issues? No worries, I had trouble with that too which is why I just made it downloadable file where I can set a static screen size :joy:

The game is an interesting concept. I would've like to be able to rotate the puzzle pieces, but I have a feeling that was an intentional constraint?

Also echoing what other's have said, it's too long to complete. But i'm sure given more time that could be adjusted. I'd wager 99.9% of us didn't make the perfect game, hell even my game ends abruptly haha.

All in all nice accomplishment.

Save Grave Dave by Bananabas 2020-04-25T02:48:04Z

I beat it wooooo. I liked the cartoonish art, and the music really set the atmosphere. Controls were simple and straightforward so I could pick the game up easily. There were no bugs that I noticed. Only thing that wasn't clear to me were the arrows that come up after you dig? I followed them, as one does with arrows, but it wasn't clear why they were directing me anywhere.

Anyways, pretty fun. Great job!

Convicted by RiverC4 2020-04-23T23:00:17Z

Ha this was a good one. I enjoyed the simple pixel art style. The audio was juuuuust enough to create an atmosphere. And the humor was great too! Pretty good for a first game.

the most constructive feedback I could suggest is improving the GUI. It's understandable why it's barebones given it was a jam, it was just something I noticed. Otherwise good job.

Rumble in the Bronchs by ballipilla 2020-04-22T14:22:51Z

Definitely good use of the theme lol. The gameplay is a common formula and it never gets old. I played quite a few times before needing to get back to other things. The controls felt a bit stiff and at one point I hit a bug where my shots were coming out the backend instead of the front . The art is simple but effective, and that's smart given the time constraint (I could learn something from that). Thanks for letting us play!

PRECURSOR by thaniel 2020-04-21T19:53:40Z

This is such a traditional type of game, I love it. It was extra difficult since I was playing on a track pad, but these sorts of games are so fun to play because of the challenge. Great job!

The Last Tree by RiceFarmerLenin 2020-04-23T01:23:12Z

The game has potential. I think the balance of how many Lumber Jacks come at you could be lowered, and of course graphics could be better (but honestly it didn't bother me, it's a game jam!).

I couldn't figure out how to get ammo, so some sort of indicator for that would've been cool too.

But honestly you got a working game in 3 days, so that's an accomplishment in itself. I recommend teaming up with people next time, or using pre-made assets for a better visual experience next time.

One Alive At A Time by MorandiGame 2020-04-24T13:00:27Z

Ha this was fun. I really just had a blast rolling items around, even though that wasn't the objective :joy: . Idk if it's a bug or what, but I was able to drag the table to the exit with all the items on it so I would've thought that would count for 3+ objects, but it only said 1. Do I have to make all the items "Alive" first?

The art was simple an effective, imo great graphics are never necessary if the game is fun (which yours was).

The audio captured a fire well, but it got old after a while haha.

Fun stuff.

The Eighth Letter by Warabii 2020-04-21T19:47:13Z

Really great experience! I enjoyed the style and the audio really puts you in that "mystical story" mood.

Lightstruck by deceius 2020-04-23T14:17:52Z

Nice little game. You excluded voting on graphics, so I assume they're pre-made assets? Either way, the art is good. reminds me of Celeste. I think the rate of loss for your light could've been a little slower? It was hard for me to fight off the shadows and maintain my light, but maybe I just suck :joy:

Also some of the obstacles weren't clearly obstacles. Such as the green box in the image above? I think some sort of way to convey depth or the fact it's an obstacle would help. (again, every players different so that might just be me).

Bacteria Attack by Nikos1304 2020-04-21T18:10:34Z

Fun! I probably could've done better if I wasn't playing on a track pad :joy:. It definitely fits the theme and I enjoyed how the gameplay wasn't clear at first but I was able to learn as it went on.

Keep Your Dreams Alive by Vojtěch Bochníček 2020-04-23T16:02:46Z

It's a simple yet effective concept. The small ghosts were so annoying and difficult haha.

LD55 — Summoning

First Summon by MaxguN 2024-04-18T16:22:51Z

A fun game. Loved the dialog and the creativity necessary on the players part. I especially loved the art style, I hope to make something that looks to this level of doneness in the future. Great job!

Hellpet by Rayne 2024-04-17T13:22:24Z

Really love the art style and the concept. Reminds me of my first game at LD46, Slotbot Arena, with the whole mechanic of needing to press keys in the midst of battle (albeit, your art is significantly better haha).

I like the use of numbers for the spells, i think that keeps it simple enough to manage, but not as difficult as typing letters out whilst moving.

I had trouble actually fighting, but i think that's because I suck lol.

Do any of you offer your artistic services freelance? Would be interested one day for some games I have planned in the future. Maybe even our current LD55 game if we were to re-do it.

Time for Pie! by isayneigh 2024-04-17T20:19:29Z

@kanity thanks for the feedback! I could've predicted every issue you mentioned. They were all decisions we had to make to work on other aspects . I agree the D-pad icons weren't the best, and likewise having to actually click on the "Click to Play" button wasn't obvious. We appreciate your tenacity and willingness to try it multiple times!

SUMMON THE COLOSSUS by aerloth 2024-04-16T19:40:55Z

Same as the above. Keep falling through a floor right before the orb. Turning notifications on in case ya'll get it fixed!

Evocation by kanity 2024-04-17T20:25:30Z

Great game! The audio, the art, the theme, it all fits perfectly! I actually felt a bit shook up at some of the audio, which surprised me since I don't usually fall for scare tactics in video games. I'm a huge fan of point-click games, so this was great for me. I would love to see this as a full release with a focus on audio, similar to what they did with hellblade.

Overall, a great entry to LD55. Great job!

Deep State by Polygraph Polypraphovich 2024-04-16T19:27:57Z

First pass I tried to keep things at a stalemate and continue peace talks, but then the 3rd war presented no options for progression (Yom Kippur War)

Second pass I chose "Arab States Triumph" for the first war (Six-Days War) and supposedly that means peace for eternity??

Third pass I chose "Israel Triumphs" and the second war's options only had one choice that worked.

Not sure if any of this was intentional or just bugs as a result of it being a game jam.

In any case, I can appreciate the effort. Simulating global conflict is difficult, much less in 72 hours.

Summoning by Loki_Yang 2024-04-19T00:35:14Z

Summon Inc. by nemaberci 2024-04-15T16:03:50Z

Haha this actually pretty fun. Felt the pressure of needing to complete everything before time ran out.

For a first jam i'm actually surprised at the quality. It reminds of something like Earthbound in terms of art style. The mini-games within each task was pretty cool too!

Ghost Step by Willbone 2024-04-16T19:15:51Z

I feel this game has some potential. The music is fitting for the theme, and the design works well too. I couldn't get past the "What's your age" question, I wasn't sure what to do. With a little more guidance and clarity this could be a full game. Great job for a game jam!

LD57 — Depths

Descendant by silkworm_sweatshop 2025-04-12T14:59:18Z

I honestly wish we had to skill to produce something so polished in such a short amount of time. Amazing! I had a lot of fun with this game and have absolutely no feedback. Takes me back to the LOLO days.

Cave Escape: Featuring Steve! by Isaac Hisey 2025-04-10T14:45:32Z

Fits the theme perfectly. I couldn't get the hang of swinging/grappling but did manage to figure out some basic clinging to walls and jumping. I'd say it's more due to my own impatience than an inadequacy of the game. Good luck!

Listening Winds by Hoichael 2025-04-08T17:39:57Z

Ridiculously imaginative. I would buy this in a heartbeat. My only qualm (albeit one of my own doing) is I can't seem to get past the faces. When I press LMB it just restarts the game

Listening Winds by Hoichael 2025-04-09T13:10:42Z

@hoichael OHHHH. So definitely my fault, clearly I don't PC game too much otherwise I would know that.

HOLE by isayneigh 2025-04-10T13:39:22Z

@mhorth that's a great suggestion and in hindsight makes sense.

Deeper into the Black Hole by On100Ruykajop 2025-04-12T15:09:40Z

Interesting concept and I actually wanted to play a bit more. I like the style of it. I seemed to have reached the "top" and couldn't do anything else, maybe I missed something or maybe it was a bug. I experienced similar stuff to everyone else but I do think this game has promise.

TRENCH by toilari 2025-04-14T21:21:35Z

Incredible work for such a short amount of time. Love the art, the sound, and the gameplay. It was extra challenging for me because I have a 65% keyboard and have to press a function key the arrows, but the function key invalidates my "Z" in-game. Made for a a fun, challenging time.

Deep Dive by mhorth 2025-04-08T23:42:39Z

Great use of theme and addictive. I appreciated the humor in the game, it gave me a laugh. Only feedback i'd have is it was difficult to figure out what angle to dive at. Are there some depths where the angle doesn't matter if you happen to jump too high? Perhaps I just don't understand diving :joy:

SKYLINE EXCAVATOR by swordguy47 2025-04-10T19:52:37Z

Really fits the theme, great job! I had to stop my self because i'm at work, but i could see myself playing this for a while just getting frustrated that i'm not good enough haha. While the SFX are atmospheric, I personally think some tunes would be nice. Still, a great game.
