nice game

ioan-pop 2020-04-22 15:22

Love the low poly models! Also I really like the concept that it's based off the classic riddle. Very unique and great submission overall :)

ponypen 2020-04-22 15:25

Love the adorable models and graphics of this game! A lovely classic story/riddle with a modern day twist. Unique and charming. Good job! :) x

chocolat-endive 2020-04-22 15:28

That was quite cute,! Nice interpretation of the good old riddle. I feel sorry for the poor skeleton. Nice little detail with this one.

I enjoyed it! The traveling part between the two side is quite long imho, but that's not a real problem.

Nice job with this entry.

curtis-pelissier 2020-04-22 15:37

Graphics are nice, and a bit of humor through dialogues. Great job there.

0x01f0 2020-04-22 17:40

@ponypen @chocolat-endive I'm happy you guys noticed the riddle, we weren't sure how many knew of it etc. :D thank you!

@chocolat-endive great feedback about the traveling part! for the post-jam version I think I'm going to add a few interactables so there's stuff to do there :)

@waqar-naeem @ioan-pop @curtis-pelissier thank you 🦊

overmolo 2020-04-23 14:23

Hahahahhaha lovely characters, funny dance and catchy music :)

studionokoi 2020-04-23 14:30

the art is super good! i liked figuring out this puzzle a lot. the only issues i had were that going across the chasm took a long time and i could place the friends outside the map. i only figured out that last one when i tried to kill the chicken for eating the bag of grains >:(

bredian 2020-04-23 14:37

Nice and cute entry. Adorable models and music, nice details, like skeleton. But if you have done something wrong, there is neither distinctive game over, nor the replay option.

aaranos 2020-04-23 14:38

Classic riddle, the game was very cute.

isayneigh 2020-04-23 14:41

Ha what a fun little game. I don't have much feedback, most of the aspects were great. I will say that it'd be nice to skip the trolley ride scene, but that's not a huge deal. I also really like the simple art style, it seems like that's been getting popular in the past couple of years.

0x01f0 2020-04-23 14:44

@overmolo haha thank you very much for those words 🦊😍

@studionokoi wait.. why would you try to throw out your 'friends' if they are your 'friends' (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻

ACTUALLY they all have kinetic air floating super powers.. actual lore that I totally didn't make up just now (づ ̄ 3 ̄)づ

0x01f0 2020-04-23 14:52

@bredian thank you for playing. you're right, it was a gamble to hook up the game over state triggered with a dialogue

@aaranos cool that you recognized it, I'm trying to write down how many know about it because it seems to be like 3 out of 10 from what I can tell :D

@isayneigh we love feedback regardless because we want to make a post-jam version o(* ̄▽ ̄*)o

we will make sure to make something fun in the trolley o( ̄▽ ̄)d

happy you liked the art style! it is quite nice to work with during a jam because we can save time and space on textures and put it on light-baking instead (⌐■_■)

hexa3 2020-04-23 15:45

Riddles never get old!

ldd 2020-04-23 17:12

This is such a nice take on an old riddle. The Mac version I tried run super nicely.

Great idea, but short game. I think there are a couple of very similar riddles so maybe you could add those in a post-jam submission.

Anyways, I love all of it. Can you point us to tutorial on low poly 3d art? I've always been interested by it.

Thanks!

0x01f0 2020-04-23 18:07

@hexa3 I know, right 😍 there are so many I still don't know about..

@ldd thank you for these kind words. I'm really happy it ran smoothly for you because we tried our best to optimize it!

yeah, we were talking about this riddle for instance: two guards stands at a door, one door leads to heaven, one leads to hell, the riddle is to find out who of the guards are lying :D

got any good ones I should know about?

I don't know of any tutorials but I can give you some things I think are important when creating a low-poly environment at least:

* the lighting is super duper important, and it looks great when you bake it in Unity. everything in that scene was baked except the light on the animals/bag.

* when you bake, make sure that you don't have dark colors so that the details/shades turn out nicely, it's useful to use the "Lightmap bake" view in Unity

* as for 3D models, the rest of the team created those but I tried to encourage creating more of a triangle look rather than quad look.. unless the object itself was square like.. not sure if that makes sense?

also I think it's important that a model has a silhouette, characteristics because if it's too blocky it doesn't get the same details and looks a bit too repeating, I guess

maybe this isn't useful if you're not into Unity but those are my 2 cents at least :)

forgeronstudio 2020-04-25 03:04

This was very polished! The models are so nice, and their little dances are adorable. I loved how the animals try to trick you! I replayed it just to see what happens when the fox eats the hen, and I was not disappointed. A simple game, but very well executed and really pleasant to play. Well done!

god-colo 2020-04-25 12:35

Everything in this game seems so awesome! The story, the cute little animals, the controls, the visuals, the music and sound effects! By the way, is it easier to make low poly 3D models compared to pixel art? Greato Jobu!

0x01f0 2020-04-25 13:29

@forgeronstudio I'm happy you noticed that they try to trick you :D

thanks for the feedback, fellow chicken game jammer 🐔 bcwah!

@god-colo ARIGATOOOOO (o′┏▽┓`o)

well, I guess we've only made 1 - 2 pixel art games so it's heavily biased but we think low poly 3D models are easier.

for instance, creating low-poly animations involves moving around the geometry/bones, with pixelart you usually have to animate each frame which requires more work and planning?

juhani-koskinen 2020-04-25 15:07

Beautiful and clever game! Especially loved the dialog!

adinimys 2020-04-25 15:09

Fun riddle game. I expected that the chicken would eat the grain so I took the grain. Don't know why I overlooked that the fox would eat the chicken xD Is there a purpose to the skeleton instead of just throwing him below ?

The gameplay isn't fantastic but it's simple and efficient in what it does so... not much to add or criticize. A very simple concept very well executed. Well done !

0x01f0 2020-04-25 16:18

@juhani-koskinen happy to hear that, thank you \( ̄︶ ̄*\)) we used YarnSpinner and I will add more dialogue in the future!

@adinimys thank you for those kind words. haha, no purpose to the skeleton falling, we were sleep deprived in the end and that's what we decided to finish the game off with (づ ̄3 ̄)づ

herniewise 2020-04-25 19:54

Lovely graphics and pretty polished entry overall. Gameplay-wise well, the idea is quite simple but you can't love this riddle.

nathalia-hohl 2020-04-25 21:32

You won me on the dancing models hahahah =D It was pretty charming, despite the simple gameplay.

nosfer 2020-04-26 18:25

The dancing fox is cute. Managed to finish it by looking for the solution online :)

jin9310 2020-04-30 14:50

Funny little puzzle with really nice art-style! It took me few attempts to figure out what and how should I solve this, but at the end I managed to get to the victory screen! Great job, really pleasant experience

molpe 2020-04-30 20:15

This looks really great :) Love the skelleton :D

naca 2020-05-01 12:06

Nice adaptation of the classic river crossing puzzle :) You did a really good job with the graphics and sound, especially the character animations are soooo cute

The only thing I don't like very much is that fade out when you get on and off the platform, couldn't it be always open and just have a button or something like that?

ivan643 2020-05-04 16:38

Ha ha, classic!

snip-man 2020-05-04 22:12

This was beyond cute! I really loved the riddle and it was amazing to see it in game form.

fatpenguin 2020-05-05 16:49

Sweet little entry! :) Sadly I've known the solution already as this riddle was once in a kid's book I've read, I would have loved to try to figure it out with your sweet game <3 the graphics were very cute, the lighting plus mood was very well chosen and made for really beautiful colours and the animations were extremely cute! :)) Controls were smooth, I didn't notive any bugs I would have centered the story text at the beginning in the middle of the screen because I always had to have my eyes travel between both corners of the screen because the assets we're catching my attention ^^ It would have been really sweet if you've added a camera dolly while telling the story, zooming onto the fox as he is mentioned etc, but I guess you didn't have enough time as this is a gamejam entry ^^ Would be cooler if the cablecar ride would have been skipable or if you don't want that, make it move a bit faster :) Another last tip: When you enter the build window and go to the settings, you can add a small image to be used as little icon for the application .exe instead of the unity logo, doesn't take long but makes the whole thing feel more like a "real game" :D you can also add your "game studio" logo to be shown upon start there if you want :) Overall great work, good job on finishing your game! :)

manderxan 2020-05-07 15:03

I R GRAINS

Nicely made little adventure slash riddle! I like when simple art styles are used well. The only complaints I can think of was rather low sound volume, and falling off the mountains just shoots you instantly down into the skybox, having to quit and restart. Unless I missed a reset button? Would have loved an easter egg down at the cave. The skeleton was great though!

A wrinkle release spray is a fast, easy, and effective way to get rid of wrinkles from clothes. It works by releasing the wrinkles in the fabric when sprayed onto the garment, and it also helps to restore the original shape of the garment, making it look like new.[https://everyinchclean.com/best-vacuum-for-fleas/](https://everyinchclean.com/best-vacuum-for-fleas/)
