The Sacrificial Liam by jimmothysanchez 2018-12-05T03:44:34Z
moist and cool. also rip my ears.
seriously though, really funny game. liam dies a bit too easily at times, but it was a pretty unique concept and it was really fun to play!

moist and cool. also rip my ears.
seriously though, really funny game. liam dies a bit too easily at times, but it was a pretty unique concept and it was really fun to play!
great graphics and sound!! love the feel of the game. the idea is amazingly witty and clever, but winning seems impossible...
great work overall!
i absolutely adore this game.
the shader effect of MOLOCH's texture and its contrast with the rest of the world is mindblowing, the graphics and palette are on point in guiding the player in story and feel, and the freaking SOUNDDD was so gooodddd!!
the only thing that this game is lacking is gameplay, as the choosing implies that there would be a branching story, and it just ends up being a tiny bit disappointing.
love the game to bits and will definitely take the time to play all of your other games in the near future.
thank you!
who doesnt love a bit of the ultra-violence??
this game is a lovely grotesque piece which i find hilarious.
it seemed lovely at first, and i jumped when they exploded for the first door.
the art is beautiful, and although the controls are a bit sluggish at first, you get used to it quickly.
i did however get stuck after i passed the first door.
could use some playtesting, but overall its really quirky and fun.
i absolutely adore the soundtrack and art! the graphics look like some pixel art metal cover, and i like the minimalistic use of trap, which was refreshing for the genre.
the backstory was amazing and i wish i could have seen it being talked about more in the game itself, perhaps with an opening cutscene.
the gameplay wasnt the most exciting but the atmosphere made up for it. awesome work!!
@tolga hey ping me when thats done, would love to see it
it was a pretty fun game, i like the concept of mixing up platformers with penalties.
one thing though is that i had trouble understanding what was going on throughout a large portion of the game, but overall i really enjoyed it!
@turtlewit just added a linux and mac versions on the itch page. keep in mind that it was compiled after the jam ended, but the code itself has not been altered in any way. another thing worth noting is that the linux and mac versions have not been tested, so hopefully itll work. also, kudos to you for supporting open software!! i myself am too lazy to leave windows, but one day....
@fattori a web version of this game might be a little tricky considering its size. we have just uploaded linux and mac versions for the game though, so you might wanna look into that. if you do so, please read disclaimers above.
thanks to everyone else whove played the game!! we really appreciate you taking the time to do so.
lets get a scoreboard going, whats everybody's best time on 9 laps?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFDa2bGGaxA karis already got an impressive time of 02:14.022
@pandanym @trifectuh soundtrack is now released! https://soundcloud.com/vicenta-erickson/sets/car-destruction-racer-xiv-ost
thanks everybody for being so kind, i cant stress enough how much we appreciate it.
i really like it! the concept was refreshing and the lines were quirky and sweet. the palette and graphics were pretty cool as well, giving a datesim vibe despite it being far from it.
wish there was more to this game but i guess thats to be expected from a gamejam.
this was such a cool experience...
the animations were amazingly disturbing and reminded me of the game OFF. i loved how the gameplay contained a fair amount of both combat and story and it shows the graphics had effort put into them, even though they were simplistic.
amazing work!!
its oddly disturbing (in a good way)..
the gameplay is a bit off (in reasons that might be obvious, i imagine its because of the time constraint) but the entire thing has an odd disturbing feel to it, which i dig a lot.
i think both the idea and the graphics contribute a lot to that.
overall was pretty interesting!
this was such a calming experience...
the game had an abundance of features and the attention to detail was amazing
wish there were more shops, and getting the hang of the game was a bit hard at first, but overall its an absolutely amazing game
absolutely amaaazzzinngg art and sound!! love the mood y'all created. i was not to sure though what to do in the 7 days of waiting aside from to sleep, i probably missed out on something...
all im getting is this weird screen about money transfer, it seems as though i cant play the game...
@darylsteak oml hahahaha had to turn down the volume so that the neighbours wont hear russian screaming and gunshots, the sound design was absolutely nuts! pixel art was very consistent and although i died a lot i still managed to win like, a hundred times in the bugged version so im still rich af >:)
that was way more fun than expected, enjoyed it a lot! sure had a lot of content to it
i love the visuals! a shame i suck at math :/
keep it up!
@evgeniya-zapolnova does this mean we can start pushing this game to educational institutions?
@eduardo-yukio Thank you for your feedback!!
you have no idea how much it means to us.
we feel you on the nose subject, it was buffed very late into balancing and i guess it was buffed a little to much :/
the user experience could definitely have been better had we have done some more user testing unlike last year...
we did indeed have some problems with the placing system, and it took too long to fix so we left it like that.
if we will decide on making a full version we would surely take all of this into consideration and we really cant thank you enough for taking the time to write such a comprehensive, detailed, and practical list of possible improvements.
much love! <3
@mrerdalural oh heck, i wish i knew how to code ecs. i dont think DOTS are ready for a game jam yet though... would be a fun risk to take though. im sure james could explain more how he managed to optimize that as he was the one coding it (and the rest of the game) but overall we tried to not overcomplicated the ai as much as we could. i know james tested the ai with a much much larger amount of people than we actually ended up using before i made the map, so i guess it just kinda worked? the main problem we dealt with was actually the super high poly count because of all of the high poly people more than anything... i was afraid to implement lod because i was too afraid of it not working properly with the rig and the skinned meshes, and since it ended up working good enough for the scale we were shooting for i never ended up trying. fun fact! the map actually has the polycount of about 3.5 people
@kack3y haha, thats a pretty creative strategy!
yea pretty much, you start without anyone knowing your restaurant, and you become one of the biggest restaurant empires by the end of the game
That was great fun! The graphics were amazing, even though my computer barely survived the real time reflections... Lovely entry
wow. thats the best entry i played so far. the progression was really good and it was challenging just the right amount. the graphics were gorgeous
this is absolutely gorgeous!! the musical loop is a bit short and gets annoying fast, but the game was very enjoyable
difficult but extremely fun game! it was very cute and i enjoyed it a lot
a bit short, but i enjoyed it a lot! the graphics were awesome and so was the music
really great game. initially i didnt know u could drag inventory objects onto others, nor did i notice the tiny coin in the corner, but once i got past two of those it was a smooth sailing. awesome work!
@fattori thank you for notifying us about the issue! macos version should be fixed
Thanks a ton to everybody who played and rated! we are extremely grateful.
this is my favorite game ive seen this jam. thank you for making this. i shall play it once more
