Cool little game, the end gave me dino run vibes. I appreciated the nice backgrounds and awesome music.
fun game! harder than i expected but still good. I really liked the pixel art of the elephant its cute.
This is delightful! It took me a minute to realize that drinking water reduced the bar--my immediate instinct was thinking it should fill it. Maybe rename that status bar thirst or something?
The boss battle was LOVELY. I loved booping him to death with my snoot.
Pico-8 is the best. You made a really amazing game here. Great work! The graphics were nice and there was some great movement going on.
At one point I fell into a hole that I was unable to jump out of. That could be user error though lol.

I really liked the music and mood here, such a charming game! I thought it was a bit to harsh that you have to start from the beginning if you die, there were no checkpoints :(
Love the mood of this game, it's super charming. The elephant is super cute and the gameplay is simple but fun. I really like the graphics and the environment as well.
I'd definitely add some checkpoints in the game though. Dying after you get hit once is fine with checkpoints, but not if you have to go all the way at the beginning and replay everything again. I'd also reverse the colors of the water bar. Usually, the dark color is used to indicate a bar is empty, not full. I was pretty confused on how to fill the bar until I realized it was depleting, not filling.
Overall, great entry. I had fun and managed to beat the boss.
Thanks everyone so much for your feedback! I've created a second version of the game which should be now linked alongside the original Ludum Dare submission above. For @alec I removed the hole that you would get trapped in, for @abigailcorfman and @thewinrawr I changed the look of the water bar so that it's a little more clear, and finally for @tarfield and @thewinrawr I added a checkpoint on level 4, which should remove some of the monotony of redoing all 8 levels every game. Thanks again to everyone who left a review and a comment, I appreciate you all!

I really liked the bright colours. The mechanic of having to drink water along the way, it added some strategy to the game, even though sometimes I wanted to take my time, it forced you to keep moving.
So good - it's such a complete thing, I liked the difficulty too, has that really good PICO-8 vibe. I was not expecting the boss, but I loved it, and the ending screen was so sweet. Such a lot of charm crammed into a tiny package. ^_^
The graphics have a great clean but cute minimal look that fit very well with the music, and the platforming was good in that it was fun to just walk and jump around.
After dying a few times past the first level it gets tiring having to redo it - I think either checkpoints at every level or otherwise a bit more "juice" in the gameplay would be needed to balance this out.
This is a pretty good game. Presentation is charming, and it's addictive enough to keep going to reach just one more level. Dying instantly from one mistake grates after awhile though. I see that you made a version with a checkpoint, I'm gonna try that now.
I just played the final level. The boss fight is a good idea, maybe good to have more of this!
This was such a neat little game! I love everything about it. I really enjoyed the part where I could be really greedy and risk it all for the final moment. Well done!
