LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deepeth Woods by colapolka 2021-04-30T12:16:55Z

The medievel tapestry art style is certainly very original and I love how you have fun with the theme. You can also use denser areas of trees as cover so you don't get surrounded. I think it would be easier to win if the movement was more responsive - sometimes it feels like you can't avoid some damage. But in terms of fun and humour, this is top notch!

Searching Inside by Ntimi 2021-04-28T12:12:00Z

This particular artstyle works well for this kind of game. I completed it. I really enjoyed the story, but I nearly gave up as it wasn't immediately clear to me that I had to revisit items. Good stuff!

DDR: Dive Dive Revolution by Tyrannas 2021-04-28T12:40:22Z

Gorgeous graphics. The gameplay involves multitasking which is pretty challenging, and is difficult to keep up with everything and take in the visuals. It is a very good idea, and well executed.

Neckdeep by dude_the_hero 2021-04-28T15:39:22Z

100% accurate simulator about dealing with customer support. 10/10 watermelons.

Nuclear blaze by deepnight 2021-05-02T23:44:41Z

I really like the idea of firefighting as a game mechanic. I agree with the other comments, and it definitely can be expanded into a full release.

Infinity Dive by keepee 2021-04-29T08:47:09Z

Simple concept, super playable. Makes you want to keep beating your score like any good game of this genre.

Werm - an existential adventure by m11 2021-04-28T16:37:04Z

I liked playing as a werm pondering existence.

THE WELL by samscaife 2021-04-28T11:06:37Z

Very good visual direction and colour palette that makes this game stand out. I really didn't know what to expect, and the game itself is quite surprising. It's a very atmospheric walking simulator where you encounter strange things underground. I wanted to finish it out of curiosity, but eventually I reached a ladder I couldn't climb down.

Small bug: sometimes the character stays in the climbing post after he gets off a ladder, but it's interrupted when a new animation starts.

Hadal Depth by RAC-Games 2021-04-27T18:52:13Z

I really like this. The gameplay reminds me of Slay the Spire. The cards are all on-theme. It starts out easy but gradually gets super challenging. One criticism: the Reconstructor card cost 8 energy, but you can only have a maximum of 7 energy. Also, as I got deeper, it gets more and more possible to get stuck without energy, without drawing the right cards to replenish it. This makes the game a bit too luck-based. That said, I would like to see it developed into a full game.

FireFlight by Razzzzzzz 2021-04-28T16:40:44Z

An original take on the theme and a good solid implementation of the core mechanic. This game starts off chill but quickly gets more stressful as you escape the fire.

CyberpunKart 2048 by ruben01 2021-04-27T17:49:22Z

A game that looks and sounds great, with minimalist gameplay. Very nice!

1 in a billion by EvoGenGames 2021-04-30T12:20:33Z

The plodding music gives is some unexpected humour. I think it would look a bit nicer with a clean vector illustration style. However, this is an interesting experience, well done.

Smooth Operator by Tad 2021-04-28T11:32:15Z

Cool idea, love the original music. I agree with the criticims about the controls - they add to the challenge, but it doesn't feel as smooth or as satistfying to play as it could do. Overall, a very nice game.

Diving Heroes by Guilb 2021-04-28T10:02:27Z

Nice graphics and colour palette choice. Like many of the other reviews, I agree it was a little difficult to figure out what to do, and the UI was too small on my laptop screen. Very cool project though!

Sublunker by Fuzzy Lobster 2021-04-28T14:14:41Z

Looks just like a regular submarine game, but I was pleasantly surprised by the complexity of it. The controls are challenging to master, but rewarding once you do. The music and sonar sounds really help give it a relaxing atmosphere while you explore deeper and deeper.

Corresponding by p0l4r 2021-04-30T11:50:28Z

I also pressed Enter too quickly and missed drawing the symbol. All in all, this was a really neat idea. I kind of like how it's kind of like a typing trainer combined with a choose your own adventure novel. The idea of only seeing the letters you write, not receive, adds to the mystery and atmosphere. I even thought the chime added something to the game; that, along with the text-based nature reminded me slightly of the game 'Cultist Simulator'.

The Elephant in the Room by CeeJap 2021-04-28T15:13:13Z

I really liked the bright colours. The mechanic of having to drink water along the way, it added some strategy to the game, even though sometimes I wanted to take my time, it forced you to keep moving.

A Shallow Dive by onnofal 2021-04-28T11:13:08Z

Like everyone else is saying: a cool puzzle game with a lot of polish. The only issue is being unsure about how the harpoon mechanic works. Also, maybe make so when you die you respawn at the start of the area, so you don't have to keeep replaying the beginning of the game.

Very nice!

ThaumOS by grasstypefire 2021-04-28T14:36:38Z

Reminds me of slow burning mystery games like 'Her Story'. It's a very complete experience and engaging for people who like this kind of gameplay. Good visual design too.

The Dive by raptor851 2021-04-28T11:46:24Z

I think the hand-drawn style really adds to the experience. Very atmospheric with some unexpected twists. I agree that picking up items is kind of clunky and it gets a bit repetitive. I got to the end, wasn't sure what to make of the ending. I found navigating the sub quite intuitive. I could have done with some atmospheric music playing all the time, that would have made the experience better.

Overall, a very cool experience.

Chocolate Dip Cookie by MarcoMing 2021-04-27T18:06:14Z

Cute artstyle with a good dose of humour thrown in. Its art style definitely stands out.

My Dearest Daughter by Foursay 2021-04-28T13:54:07Z

Nice illustrations. I liked the small touches, like the subtle animation to make the character seem more alive. The UI for the point and click aspect was nicely done. I would like to see what you could do with more time.

The Before Times by UkuleleFury 2021-04-27T18:19:40Z

I liked being able to sigh at random things in the environment. It's very nicely modelled, but I didn't know what to do after I interacted with everything? Do you stay in the loop forever?

Dive into the abyss by xiyou 2021-04-27T18:01:24Z

A cool idea. I like the enemies, but I feel the attack types don't fit the theme that well. Nevertheless, this game does have a lot of potential. Awesome pixel art and animations too.

Ballast by Ekoxe 2021-04-28T12:47:50Z

A fun little multitasking game that quickly gets frantic. The game has some nice touches like the humourous manual and the TV. As others had said, it could be made into a cool casual game.

Associated Arguments by mathemagician 2021-04-28T13:33:17Z

Cool idea. I agree that there should be more challenges. The inventive way the conversation is done is appreciated. A lot could be done with this concept, and some very interesting puzzles could be made around it.

What do cats dream of ? by Duck Reaction 2021-04-28T16:31:11Z

One of the more unique games I played from this game jam.

River, Carry Me Away by Noire 2021-04-28T11:24:10Z

I agree with all the comments here. I really like the Slavic folklore aesthetic and would like to see more games done in this style. The game itself is very artistic with great music. Gameplay is rather minimal, it's more about the experience itself. Also, the game logo is really nicely done.

Untitled Simulator by Eugenik 2021-04-28T10:23:12Z

Definitely a very original idea! I can see the potential educational value of such a game. It reminded me of several things I learned about Hitler's rise to power at school, and I even learned some new things.

Constructive criticism: the text moves on too slowly. Sometimes there are very long periods without giving the player chance to interact. Maybe some people will get bored when this happens. It takes too long to find the first trauma, so I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing. Maybe make the first one easier to find to encourage people to keep playing.

I didn't mind the 'text message' style - it got the job done. I would have liked some other sound effects, maybe a ticking clock would have added to the atmosphere, as I can see such a clock in the background.

Well done!

Deeper Learning by NachoLR 2021-04-27T18:12:12Z

Cool idea for a game.

Pokefish : Gotta flash em' all ! by Legolula 2021-04-29T14:44:32Z

Really nice idea for a game. The instruction screens were a bit of information overload for me and it wasn't clear that I had to go over fish to see them, I was trying to point the nose of the submarine at them. A sound effect for taking pictures would be good as I wasn't sure the button was working.

The way you incorporated the first person perspective was really cool and this idea has a lot of potential. Great work.

Deep Jam by MadR 2021-04-27T18:57:38Z

Technically impressive and a uniques style that's well implemented. I found the gameplay quite unforgiving though. I would have preferred to to start out a little easier. But overall, very nice.

SUBERDEEP by sendnoose 2021-04-28T14:06:17Z

A simple but well-executed game. It has some nice features that elevates it, such as getting darker as you get deeper, which also makes the gameplay more challenging. I could have done with some more health pickups personally. Overall, a nice little arcade style game. I liked the old-school UI too!

Lil'Drill - The Chiseller of Balls by AndereSpackosProductions 2021-04-28T15:08:29Z

An ambitious and fun game.

Don't hit anything by Martinek 2021-04-28T15:53:15Z

Fun and simple game with an art style that makes it stand out. Sometimes a little frustrating not being able to get to some pickups. Good job though.

Down Under by anactualhuman 2021-04-28T16:34:19Z

A solid, challenging game. Good art and a good USP.

SPERMA by the neon shark 2021-04-30T12:27:07Z

You even included a NSFW intro. Good stuff.

The Witching Hour by DamonWakes 2021-04-28T12:28:35Z

An interesting twist on interactive fiction. I really like how you added innovations to the usual formula to make it more engagig. Well-written with some good humour too.

GUN DESCEND by AkioRed_ 2021-04-28T13:46:20Z

A cool idea. It was a little unclear that you had to walk off the edge to start falling - it would be better if you fall straight away. The enemies come at you and kill you quick. Nice mechanic with the dual wielding pistols. I would have liked them to feel a little meatier to fire. Overall, a fun idea!
