LD46 — Keep it alive

NecroTyper by Tadej 2020-04-21T10:33:03Z

Enjoyed it. Got bugged several times where it would not accept input and i had to restart. Would be nice if the upgrades were available through typing as well. Would pay good money for a full scale typing RTS

DAVAI DAVAI by p0l4r 2020-04-21T10:53:31Z

Thanks for the feedback! The execute command does not fire sometimes, will update with fix!

Update: 1.0.1 is released, with fixes for the Execute bugs and more. See entry for details.

DAVAI DAVAI by p0l4r 2020-04-24T16:28:15Z

@coda-highland Thanks for the feedback! We set out to make a more strategic game, where you had to plan out your aiming before the round started as well. We also planned on making the player able to tell the cops to wait somewhere, but time ran out and we had to strip it down to the essentials.

The cops shoot anything in their cone of vision, but we made it so they can't do "impossible" shots, where they have a 1mm opening through a doorway or something. So they need a certain percentage visibility. They also have a small delay before shooting. So maybe that was what happened. Or maybe it just glitched out, just as likely :bug:

Perish alive by Lyrcaxis 2020-04-25T13:53:26Z

Great game, well done! I liked how you had to make due with few people, reassigning them around, it hink that worked well. Good art as well. Some notes: you might want to think about clamping the position of the camera so you can always see the whale, right now, you can sort of lose it. Some text appeared on the screen on one point, but it wasn't very clear what had happened, did i die? I assume i did, but there wasn't much feedback to tell me. But over all, i enjoyed it a lot.

HEART LORDS by Spooky 2020-04-21T12:32:14Z

Great graphics, well done!

Porco Grosso by mirsakka 2020-04-21T10:18:45Z

Probably the worst controls i have ever tried, but somehow i still wanted those brown things.

PANDEMIC-19 by Cyril5 2020-04-21T12:10:44Z

The controls are a bit bizarre, but i really like the graphics and effects. Could not quite figure out what i was supposed to do though, so i just flew around and enjoyed the sights and sounds.

Probably the worst game in this event, but I'm still so proud that I finished it by ThatSoloDev 2020-04-21T13:16:51Z

Managed to get to the fourth screen. How many are there? The second one is murder. A problem is that it more requires you to spam on everything, and not so much be thoughtful about which ones you click on. But i like it.

Evolve by Ecrush11989 2020-04-24T15:29:53Z

OH NO ALIENS HAVE BEGUN TO HUNT YOU AND YOUR FOOD "Button"

10/10, good on you for making a game! Practice makes perfect.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Collective Restraint by ThePelranthean 2020-10-05T13:51:23Z

Nice look! Good little vertical slice of your idea. I missed having some audio, and also i felt the movement was a bit slow. But all in all cool idea!

Roll your Dough by ancient-pixel 2020-10-05T11:39:46Z

Cool idea. I would suggest have a bit more of a readable font if you want the player to read a lot. The lower case "g"-s in particular are very straining. Could not get past the second screen though. A bit more hints as to what to do would be nice.

Hyper Loop Runner by jd557 2020-10-05T11:31:35Z

Fun game. I didnt get past the third level, i found it to be a bit disorienting driving around. There is no indicator where the ufo thing is so i was just driving around blindly, and when i did meet it it was hard to react to whether it was blue or red before i hit it. An arrow pointing in the direction of the ufo would be nice. Also the display window was quite small on my monitor. Well done making it though! Cool library that you are working on.

The Hall Of Anubis by Patrick Sweeney 2020-10-05T14:58:43Z

I could not progress past the part where I needed a gold key. Nice look and feel though. Incidentally, I also made an Egypt-based first person platformer with a title like "[place] of [egyptian god]" for this jam, check it out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/temple-of-heh

AXIS LOOPER by Eduard Hauer 2020-10-05T10:34:05Z

Fun game, I finished it. Some of the puzzles were neat, while some I just solved using brute force. The music really needs to be mutable though. A good tip is that you don't need to have music. Just have atmospheric sound instead, it would make the game a lot more pleasant. Anyway, good job!

Total Shipwreck by Frogravity 2020-10-05T14:46:25Z

Cool game with a pretty huge scope. It's way too hard though. I could not make it past the first level. The timer should be more forgiving on the first level to allow you to learn the mechanics a bit. Also pick up and use should probably be on the same button. Nice art and sound as well!

Sasha by amirrajan 2020-10-05T11:35:04Z

Lovely sound. But is the game not finished beyond the first puzzle?

A Whole New World by Subhang Bhatti 2020-10-05T13:56:15Z

Cool concept. I finished the first part, then I got stuck on a wall and could not progress in the under water part. Missing some sound and the graphics are jittery sometimes. Great job though!

Tower of Time by CodeRaurus 2020-10-05T14:30:26Z

Nice graphics! Its a bit too unprecise and slow in the controls for my taste. You can also jump again when you hit the ceiling of a block. Well done all in all.

Tunnels by CosmicPickle 2020-10-05T14:20:10Z

Programmer art is good when you are smart and keep it nice and simple. Good color choice! Animations are all solid and does what they are supposed to do. I finished the game and it feels very complete! The camera leading is a bit aggressive for my tastes. Solid game, well done!

Hammy and the Computer by Monxtert 2020-10-05T10:41:46Z

I finished it, and it was enjoyable. It wasn't quite clear to me at the start that you were supposed to move on once you finished a task, but i got it after a bit. The first task is a lot harder than the second, the second can be cheesed by spamming one button. Also i wish there was some other stuff you could reach with the slighly higher jump before you reached the end bit. Well done though!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Drill18^2 - This is Just a Drill by quill18 2021-04-28T13:31:48Z

The first screen the player sees is very overwhelming. Once i got the concept (i think i got it?) it was good, obviously a lot of balancing and game design skill went in to it, so i appreciate that. Very strong on the mechanics side. It's a proper game, but with some quite jammy visuals that will confuse a lot of players that were not there on stream when the design was thought out.

I rate it a "good" out of "cool".

The Limbo Runner by jk5000 2021-04-27T16:06:18Z

Knew i would love it from the screenshots. Did not dissapoint. I got some framerate dips on my computer and i think that impacts the ability to spam spacebar (not all button presses registered), so i wasnt able to win the finale.

Very deep game, really made me think.

LANDMINE BOYZ by saucygames 2021-04-29T20:35:30Z

The name really made we want to play this, but cant find the links for it. @ me if you figure it out and i'll play it.

In To The Depths by Pavel Stoimenov 2021-04-29T20:51:03Z

I liked this one. Played it more than i should. Played through both levels twice! The second level has one drop that is really hard and a bit janky, where you sort of bounce between the platforms if you don't hit it perfectly. Well done!

Bohris by tomdeal 2021-04-27T17:33:56Z

Fun take on motherload! Finished all the upgrades. I feel like the controls shouldn't be inverted though. Having a going right and d going left was a bit strange. But i got used to it. Well done!

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-27T20:22:35Z

The game made me use a lot of big words. But it was fun as well.

Date Night by Togis 2021-04-29T20:18:56Z

Great visuals and a lot of game here, impressive. Especially liked the visual of printing out a huge block of paper. Great job!

As a sidenote: This inspired me to really consider using blockbench for my next jam. It gives the game a nice sense of style and consistency that is hard to get for a non artist like myself. How was it to work with? Is it quick?

Payday by LuckyFeathers 2021-04-27T20:43:24Z

Loved the character models! The opening cutscene looked great. It was also fun to run around and destroy stuff, but after i killed the stapler guy behind the office barricade, i couldn't figure out where to go. I wish there was more flavour stuff like poeple trying to talk you out of it or something, because what there was of that was great! Well done!

Corresponding by p0l4r 2021-04-26T15:56:23Z

@lokt02 @dhim Thanks for the feedback. After some debugging i found out WebGL does not like some of the rendermagic i'm doing, so i took the WebGL version down. So it's Windows only until I can figure out how to build it to WebGL without visual artifacts.

@afroant Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it!

Corresponding by p0l4r 2021-04-29T20:07:25Z

@togis Thanks a lot for the great feedback! I was watching the stream but had to go do something else, when i came back the stream was over but i saw in the chat that you had played my game. I went back and watched it and it was really fun watching you interact with the story! Obviously it's not the best stream-game but i got a lot out of watching your reactions to the game. Thanks a lot!

Chimes by Pohko 2021-04-26T20:12:45Z

Cool! Very polished graphics!

Captain on the Bridge by tkers 2021-04-27T17:19:43Z

Played and finished. Nice concept, at first i didn't get what i was supposed to be doing, so i just rolled again and again, but then i figured out that i needed to assign dice to the cards, and i played though it. Not much going on, as i don't think any enemies did any damage to me, but i get what you were going for nevertheless. I think it's better to have a too easy jam game than too hard anyway. I liked the colours and the rest of the graphics, they did their job well!

A couple of points of criticism though: - You need to teach people how to play the game. Maybe this is how a lot of dice-games are, i don't know, but it wasn't immediately obvious how to play (i also make this mistake a lot). - I wish there was drag/drop for the dice into the dice slots, that would have made it nicer to play i think. - put the player health-bar next to the enemy health-bar, or in a similar way, so that it's easy to tell what is going on in the fight. Right now one is dots on the top left (?), and one is represented by a fraction on the bottom of the card.

There are small things like this that confuse the player, and that makes it less approachable than it needs to be.

But all in all well done!

Archeo by zimny11 2021-04-27T14:54:15Z

Cool game! good balance between doing things on the side and digging. Probably needs some balance so it doesn't get spammy, and maybe some strategy aspects as well? As far as i could tell it didn't matter where you dug or anything. But great concept, and well done for finishing it.

Dr.Daker's Deep Diving Discovery by andy593 2021-05-15T09:49:23Z

Fun game! I finished it and all in all i liked it! Would love some more audio/visual-feedback when shooting, killing, buying etc. I loved the item descriptions but they were a bit long and you had to read a whole lot of them in order to figure out what upgrades you had available. Would be nice with a little short description of the effects up top, then the flavor text below. But there is a lot of great content here, well done in a short amount of time!

ROOTS by TheGreenWorm 2021-05-02T09:29:44Z

Most fun game i've played this jam. Really well done.

Reach That Point by Dmitry Mozgin 2021-04-26T18:55:51Z

Interesting game! I was hope for some more rope based mechanics, and it was a bit frustrating going down dead ends. But i think the design was very simple (good simple) and nice. Good use of colors and very nice music. All in all, well done.

Eros and Psyche by Noam Zeise 2021-04-26T20:04:25Z

Cool game! I can tell a ton of work went into this. It's a bit hard though on level one and three.

Fishing the Deep by DDesignDude 2021-04-27T16:51:31Z

Love that you made a DS game! Also smart to include good instructions for people on how to play. Nice music and visuals, but i ran into what i think is a bug every time i tried to play. After i got a couple of fish, the sea was just out of them, and i was just sat around hoping more would spawn, but they never did.

Regardless, this was a breath of fresh air in the sea of games made on the big platforms!

sub hunt by trixydevs 2021-05-15T09:21:57Z

Well done on doing your first LD! It was a bit hard to know where your torpedoes were going but i got the hang of it after a while. I liked the voice over, it added some nice flavor to the game. Also the radar graphics were more distracting than anything. Good job!

Derbys F#ckin Pissed by sdata 2021-04-27T20:50:45Z

Intro was great, loads of character in the drawings. The game felt a bit disconnected from that. I look forward to playing the follow-up game!

Boomerang Basement Brawl by rhitakorrr 2021-04-27T17:04:31Z

I finished the game. The ending actually made me laugh, and i enjoyed the off beat music. I liked how the optimal strategy was to get the boomerang stuck behind enemies, so there was some skill and strategy. It really picked up on the bee-level, that was the most fun.

I'm missing some animations and it could be clearer where the colliders were, but other than that i liked it, well done!

Nice little point n click game. Great aesthetics and vibe. I had some moments where I'm pretty sure i did the right thing and it didn't register (using the keys to open the little shelf things), but other than that i think it's a quite complete little experience!

Karawan by Rongo Matane 2021-10-06T15:03:13Z

My favorite game so far this jam. Felt it was pretty clear what to do and how to do it, except maybe the way resource-gathering worked, but i figured it out. Liked the way it made me think about how to approach a situation and it also made me make interesting choices. Well done!

Rocky Roost by Andreas Roschal 2021-10-05T20:56:31Z

Cursed Cauldron of Calamity by Elias Manzaneda 2021-10-05T20:18:58Z

I like the aesthetic of the main menu and the weird notes, and Francois and all that. The first thing i did was put the cat in the pot. It's weird but fun. It doesn't translate that well into understandable game mechanics though. You should pat yourself on the back for finishing and congrats on making your first game. Hope it was fun making it!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

3rd Emu australian war simulator by sebbernery 2022-04-04T15:28:02Z

Took me a while to find a good strategy. I call it the West-Australian lawn mower! https://imgur.com/a/yohKmFa

It could use some balancing. Make the game less hard, and cheese like this less good. My game has similar issues so who am i to judge!

Anyway, well done!

Numerus Maximus by SimplePotential 2022-04-04T14:42:48Z

I see what you were going for but i think, like you said in the description, that it's a bit too random to be fun. The only player choice you have is whether to use the lightning, or if a 23 comes up you know that the adjacent tiles are safe, but that last one is not much of a player choice.

The lightning power up is a bit hard to spot if you don't know the game, as it's hiding with the meta-game buttons like restart and share. I thought it was some new cool social media thing i hadn't heard about until i read the description.

It seems very well made, and it's an interesting study to try to come up with a satisfying game like this. It has the potential to be great if you tweak it to the right minesweepery player choice vs randomness balance.

Well done!

TyPing Pong by Gao Ming 2022-04-04T15:48:55Z

Well done!

Dungeon Architect by kazuo256 2022-04-05T12:54:27Z

Very nice! Super snappy and good controls, nice music and art as well!

My only slight issue was that i didn't realize what the end goal was (have 3k gold?) before the end of level 10. But the experience was fun anyway so it was not a big deal.

Well done! :D

The Last Line by p0l4r 2022-04-05T11:23:14Z

Thanks for the great feedback!

@bingtheping @dindotjs Yeah absolutely right the sound is grating. I get sound mixing wrong every time

@aarimous Thanks! I think you are spot on, i originally wanted to go for pixel art but then halfway though i realized it was easier to stick to a smooth style, but never went back to change the pixel-assets. Programmer artist coming through!

@anonymouspanda @nakami @tengusheath @conradoclark The balancing was way harder than i thought it would be. Some of you felt it was good, some of you got luckier and were OP right away. In the original idea you were supposed to buy upgrades, or at least be limited to only one pr. round. Neither was obviously implemented in time.

@baily @sirjupitron @dusho I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for playing everyone!

Twilight Sail by Roboimuri 2022-04-04T15:16:10Z

I hecking love it.

As a sailor with no boat, this hits the spot for me. I've tried to make a similar sort of sailing simulator and i appreciate how janky the unity engine can be with doing stuff like this, so well done for getting it this far.

I do have some reservations though. The camera is a bit of a hassle. At first i thought it was locked to the starboard side? (see i told you i was a sailor), but I think it might be just that the mouse is not locked to the window. Also why is it not locked so you can't go underwater? There is nothing down there but sorrow!

The systems with the resources and stuff is a bit superfluous because i think most people will struggle getting anywhere at all.

Also i don't think a square rigger could sail as close hauled as in this game. How dare you change small details about sailing in order to make the game more fun!?

Also the soundtrack SLAPS please make it available for download, particularly the last one(? don't know if they are randomized or not).

Well done, my favorite game so far this jam, the jank just makes it endearing.

Engineer's Last Stand by shp 2022-04-04T14:30:56Z

Fun game! It looks and plays pretty great. Would have liked some indication to where the turrets would be placed before placing them though, took me a second to realize they were relative to camera rotation and not player rotation.

My strategy was to surround myself with shotgun-turrets, which worked until they turned on me: https://imgur.com/a/rgOrZTm

Got the Diamond medal though, so i guess it worked out. diamond.png

Well done!

It was fun, though it took me a while to understand how to spawn in things. I think fan-build is OP, got to 200-something with that.

Also the exit button crashes the game but doesn't exit it, because it's a web game, so you might want to skip having that next time.

Well done!

Great job on finishing one team-member short!

I don't know if i understood the game. First time i thought i needed to collect everything. After the timer went to 0, the game slowed down and nothing happened. So i tried again after reading the instructions more carefully. This time i collected only the controllers, but the same thing happened when i reached the end of the timer. Am i playing it right?

I loved the particle-effects when you bump into stuff, looks great!

Delay Dragon by dindotjs 2022-04-04T15:43:03Z

This game is good! It's just held back a bit by the controls. I wish space would do the same as shift while in-air, so that it would be a bit more ergonomic to play. Any key i could click with the right hand instead of shift would also be better.

Pretty cool! As other have said it would be great with some more units and more opportunities for fun builds. maybe the +1 coin from rats could stack? Maybe have a unit that buffs other units, or converts attack to defense?

I liked it, and played it a couple of times to test out mechanics and stuff, so all in all i say great job!

LD52 — Harvest

Harvest Hewn by bwalter 2023-01-27T08:07:39Z

I has some trouble playing this game as it's set to always open on my main monitor, and also open in the same aspect ratio as my 9:16 main monitor, which caused it to look like this: hewn.png, so i had to change my main monitor to a 16:9 one, and then it worked like it was supposed to. Would be nice with an option to resize the window, or that it was locked to the intended aspect ratio.

Aaaaanyway. Really fun game though! Quite polished overall, and a fun loop. Good little dialogue and everything. It took me a bit long to get money for the first upgrades in the shop (3 days), but i think i might have been unlucky in what the shops had in store. Also it wasnt quite clear when the veggies could attack.

Well done! :star:

Tile King by MiltonNH25 2023-01-14T14:32:31Z

Got to turn 130. One of my favorites so far, i quite enjoyed it. Like others have said the clicking gets a bit spammy when you have to sell 100 of a resource. The instructions were pretty clear, with the exception of road placements (I think you could place the first one wherever you wanted, and then roads after that had to be next to it?).

The only thing dragging it down was the music. I think it would be better to have some sound effects for various actions rather than a very bare bones song that you cannot mute.

Well done! :star:

Village of Plenty by p0l4r 2023-01-10T09:56:51Z

@thepelranthean Thanks for playing!

Great feedback, it's true that some of the mechanics aren't explained well enough. To be honest we're just chuffed to see that you figured out how to play at all, seems like you managed to do really well :D

Village of Plenty by p0l4r 2023-01-11T20:33:00Z

@dzejpi Thanks for playing it! Yes i agree that the game needs to guide players better, appreciate the feedback :D

Soul Garden by Gossian 2023-01-12T11:42:39Z

Great art, good concept, just needs some more design work and a bit of polish (like all our games :D). It would be nice to be able to hold WASD to move. I enjoyed that people come out of the hospital and slowly grow and go old over time, but as far as i could tell this wasn't used in any gameplay systems, and i would have liked to see what interesting things you could have done with that. Lastly i think the music loop was a bit too short, and really only served to be a bit grating. I think the game would have been better with no music and some sound effects instead.

Well done! :)

Untitled Squirrel Game by TureGrappa 2023-01-12T11:34:52Z

Very nice graphics and vibe in general. The camera needs a bit of work, either angled a bit more so that it looks more down, or just movable by the player. I would also like to have seen something extra gameplay wise to spice it up a bit more. Maybe you need to avoid crows by hiding in the grass or something.

Well done :)

The Heat by DzejPi 2023-01-11T15:15:45Z

I really liked the presentation of this game, it had a good sense of style. there was also something very atmospheric and doomy about seeing the fires in the sky while doing farming stuff.

The thing that i didn't quite understand what the mechanics other than the sickle was for. Why would you destroy crops, and why would you try to put out the fire as the fire grows faster than you could possibly put it out?

I liked it because of the mood :)

It was pretty fun how you slowly realize whats going on with the ingredients you collect. Sadly my first sandwhich collapsed under its own immense weight. Really fun way of making an otherwise normal game into something weird and fun :D

Great stuff, very addicting! I think probably everyone who plays this will play to the end, because of how chill and satisfying it is. Good to see the extra-category being put to good use as well

Well done! :star2:

Harvest Slave by Gotanod 2023-01-27T08:43:33Z

I was a bit confused as to where to go, i figured it out after a while. It would be nice with with a little message, sound or indication that you did the right thing by going into the silo room. But otherwise i really liked the game. It ran very smooth on my computer and looks great. A bit weird with the controls though, normally with isometric games with direct controls pressing up moves you directly up relative to the camera, and not up relative to global z or whatever. But i sort of got used to it.

Very impressive considering it's a roll your own engine.

Well done! :star2:

Space Harvest Wreckage - Extreme 2001 by Melchizedek6809 2023-01-11T14:02:07Z

Like others have said, the game and atmosphere is quite good, and the controls are doing the game a disservice. I think that tank controls can be fine, but tank controls that control a very heavy feeling physics thing, which also starts out as inverted (moving from top to down) making up -> down, down-> up, left -> right and right -> left is quite weird.

A great idea the game had was the inclusion of a continue button next to the try again button. That was very smart, especially for jam games that aren't always balanced. I might steal that idea for the future :)

Then Came A Stork by bonkibot 2024-10-11T18:46:51Z

Very well made, the VTOL got me. The story and graphics were great, but the gameplay was a bit boring. Also the stork seemed to have a stuttering issue when flying. But overall a really strong game.

Let's Go to the Magical Frog Party in the Dark Forest! by Tygrak 2024-10-09T09:11:41Z

Great game! The mechanics were quite intuitive (the tooltips and log-thing really helps!). All the flavour was funny and great! The only mechanic I would challenge is that you have to press Z to invite a frog, I think they could just show up uninvited. That way, you would have to use the abilities of strategically placed frogs like the viking frog to make room for another dangerous frog or something. Other than that I think this game is golden.

Well done!

@martta Sorry, I think you got in a bit early, we hadn't published the game yet haha. We had this + the link to the Itch page up before it was published on Itch.

Scuttle-buttons by iamgreaser 2024-10-09T08:59:23Z

When I clicked this game I thought it was a Windows 3.1 art-style, not actually a Windows 3.1 game written in Pascal. When I noticed that I couldn't download it quick enough, loved it!

Playing was a bit confusing at first, then I found the help button, which made it a lot easier. Made it through the first 3 levels and it was enjoyable. However, playing it on a large high res screen makes the game quite visually straining to play. I could never figure out how the special switches that only work for some 'scuttlers', because the labels are very hard to read. But some of that is just part of the limitation of the platform.

I had fun, will pick up again in a bit to finish it. Great job.

This felt super polished. Super nice graphics, colours, lighting, sound, controls and everything. Great work!

The Blueberries Dawn by Forik 2024-10-11T19:02:10Z

Nice! Huge level that you've made here, with some metroidvania elements where the weapon unlock also unlocks new paths. The pacing was really good, and the ambiance was good as well. It was sort of lacking in the horror department, but I think the good level design made up for it. Well done!

Good mix of ideas, could be really great with a few more iterations. Very juicy. It's a bit weird that the optimal strategy is to hold 'S' at all times, but thats how it goes in game jams :id:

Well done!

In the end there will be the Number by KAVERZA 2024-10-11T19:12:01Z

 A silly idea well executed. Art was perfect, music was perfect. My only quibble is that I felt like I lost control of the angels once in a while, they seemed to drop from the cursor without me release the button. But that's nothing really. The game is amazing, well done!

Tiny Fate - Lost Ruins by sketchbookbug 2024-10-11T19:21:02Z

I wish the gravity thingy didn't have such a long cooldown, as it was fun to use. I also managed to fly by standing next to something and pushing it with the pickaxe, that sent the thing flying in the air with me on it. Good speed run strat but I think I ended up out of bounds :D. I had fun, well done!

Played through it, and got all the endings I think. Even the secret one. I enjoyed it, great job!
