I really liked the art style, and the humour in the game. Good game!

What an intro ! The game is simple, but it feels really good to play, thanks to the sound feedbacks and the character sprites. A simple improvement would be to add some particle effect when a block is destroyed. I believe it would add on the game strenghts while not being too much time consuming.

Wonderful art! Right now, the power-up lasts a very short amount of time. If you make it last a little longer, I think it would be more useful. Good job!

The atmosphere of the game doesn't make me feel comfortable but beyond that the game is rather pleasant to play, with procedural generation, no bugs. The intro is a cool bonus.

Maybe being able to dig on the right and left could be practical: in some cases there is a power up at the very bottom of a digging area and you can't know it until you get to the bottom, when it's too late to change your trajectory to take it :)

I love the story. Damn I would be f--n pissed too. The gameplay was simple but well executed. I had some trouble getting the batteries. Played it a couple of times to get the optimum path. A fun game.

Haha, that intro made me laugh. Derby is absolutely f#ckin pissed. The first time I saw the enemies start chasing me, I got super scared. They definitely create a sense of urgency and made me dig for my life. Well made and keep it up. You know how to tell a story for a LD game :P

p0l4r 2021-04-27 20:50

Intro was great, loads of character in the drawings. The game felt a bit disconnected from that. I look forward to playing the follow-up game!

Funny game, I loved the graphics and intro :) Drilling feels good :smirk_cat:

Looks awesome, wish I had windows to play it. Are most games without web build are made with GameMaker? gonna promote Godot to everyone, it's completely free and very easy to use. You can build for basically any platform

sdata 2021-04-28 21:32

@ariorick Sorry about that! I've started to learn Unity so future games can be accesible on Mac and Linux, but Gamemaker is what I'm most comfortable in so it is easiest for making games for jams/competitions. I have heard a lot of good things for Godot though and will definitely look into it for future works!

Really fun game ! The art is cool and the gameplay on point. Good job !

muzakefron 2021-04-28 22:26

wonderful game!!! the art is so adorable & the gameplay is quite fun i love it!!

assertfailure 2021-04-28 22:30

A little too simple but still an amusing game :D The illustrations were great tho!

lithia-studios 2021-04-28 22:32

I like intro which gets you invested in the gameplay, and the enemies in pursuit add a good amount of tension.

hempuli 2021-04-29 00:44

I really liked that even though the game was procedural, there was a way to win! Also interesting that you've done a multi-Ludum-Dare storyline here (that'll seemingly continue in the future!) Good work :)

littlegamer 2021-04-29 09:55

Nice atmosphere, graphics and intro ! The music too is good. The gameplay was a bit boring to me but it's not bad. I liked the game !

masaru 2021-04-29 10:53

I might have been unlucky but the procedural generation seemed less like a random generation and more like a repetitive pattern, which made the experience a bit less fun once I knew the layouts. Other than that, it's a bit too simple but it works and the art is great.

wheffle 2021-04-29 20:34

Simple yet pretty satisfying. The art/animation for Derby was pretty funny and livened the game up a ton. The battery powerup was a bit underwhelming as it would run out before I could use it to dig very much. Maybe it should last longer or last for a set number of digs. I really enjoyed that you took the time to write in a story and draw cutscenes, I know that is quite a time investment. I think it paid off, I was f**kin pissed too, it got me pumped to find that douche guy in his weirdo house buried in sand. Cool entry, nice work!

guimm12 2021-04-30 14:50

This was pretty fun, I liked how the mob was always very close, idk if it's because of the layout I got, but most of the time it felt like I was just fast enough to get away. I think it could have used a few more "room" presets though, and maybe a mechanism to stop sections from repeating in a row. In general a tense and satisfying experience.

He do be pissed tho.

ynneblack 2021-05-01 21:27

Oh, dammit, Doplimio.

The buzzing sound effects vaguely reminded me of a visual novel I really liked (We Know The Devil), it set the mood really well! And the entire illustrated opening really helped tie it all together, a nice short story for extra motivation. :)

First of Kudos for taking the time to make such an intersting intro. The artstyle is very unique. So what I liked most about this game? It gave me an adrenalien kick right when the bees atacked me thats a good catch balance. The music is strange, intersting and supports the game realy well. I was missing a pause menu while playing, but that is my personal opinion. The bird expression when collecting batterys was epic! But I'm not sure whatI need it for. The controlls are fine, but I see no reason to controll everything with WASD or the arrow key instead of a combined control.

Such a fun game, well done!

ryan-dotsikas 2021-05-05 00:31

Nice job with this submission! I thought that was pretty funny that you made a continuation of a previous jam's game or characters. I like that you went with a randomly generated approach to it, but it did feel like you kept seeing the same handful of orientations, but that's all good, it's a jam! I was a bit confused initially what all the colors meant and took me a little bit to orient myself to what was ground, what was air and what needed to be dug through but I got to the end! Nice job!
