LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Rock Monster by Myko 2021-05-03T20:56:25Z

The family at the end is such a cute touch! I think the core gameplay is great and I can only imagine more powerups and blocktypes coming into play for progressively harder depths! Great comp entry!

Deep-fry Deeper by Ithildin 2021-04-28T00:50:31Z

Great visual and audio flair and definitely makes me want a churro haha!! I found the varying speeds to sometimes be far too fast to really even react in time, so I think a smaller window of how much it could change would make the game feel more comfortable to play!

Tic-Tac-Run! by mvasko2 2021-04-29T21:06:02Z

I had fun with this one! There are some random generations that create near impossible layouts but liked that you have a chance to recover after a hit

self reflection by torcado 2021-05-03T21:13:14Z

This is one game I was excited seeing progress for and the wait definitely paid off! Really impressive puzzle game for such a short amount of time and really intuitive mechanics that speak clearly without a bloated tutorial or expository text!!

Reel Deep by frenchie 2021-05-01T05:55:26Z

Definitely reminds me of Vlambeer's Ridiculous Fishing in all the best ways! I really appreciated that the game has an ending with the treasure chest too! I had made it down to the bottom the first time with only space for one more thing, so going back down the second time I was worried the chest would only be a large amount of money, but the tension buildup and ending text were a great payoff!!

DEEper by Devastus 2021-04-28T21:28:59Z

I think the music really amped up the feeling of running at higher speeds through the house! I couldn't figure out how to increase my bonk other pets score, but I thought it was really fun and thought it had a lot of simple but effective animations!

Into the Castle by groverburger 2021-04-29T05:35:24Z

I think the tutorial and intro levels are really strong, but I had trouble with the final boss. I think a way to block/parry projectiles would help a lot with this issue. the concept of traversing forward and back through the depth of the screen felt really fresh and I think this is a project that could definitely be expanded on further!

Doctor Shrink by Flaterectomy 2021-05-02T17:08:46Z

I really loved the monster designs and the interpretation of "Going Deeper"! It was a lot of fun and while some of the platforming felt slidey and the movement of the camera and distortion of the background made some jumps tricky, I had a great time with the game!!

Cavity Tycoon by Roberto Romao 2021-04-28T18:29:21Z

I didn't get to see the Timmy's or the Office which is a little sad, but I thought the concept of creating a cavity population was fun! I think a different method to alleviate threat would be great in addition to having the win be a little harder, but overall really cool for a jam entry!

Keke in the "Caves of Peril!" by Hempuli 2021-04-29T03:07:46Z

Really effective ruleset! I couldn't crack level 14, but hope to revisit the postjam version down the road! Definitely makes me want to recreate it in the Baba editor too haha!

Hellbearer: The Deepening by jelch 2021-04-27T20:21:22Z

The music was great! I really enjoyed the pogo mechanic but wished that the blocks that broke instantly when you bounce on them didn't give so much screenshake. I also think being able to buffer the drill in the air at least a little bit would be good so the timing isn't as precise, but regardless I had a good time with it!

Dome Romantik by Rongo Matane 2021-04-29T03:58:50Z

I had some initial issues seeing the Upgrade UI on the HTML version but after downloading had a blast! Really enjoyed the progression system but found it to make the game a bit too easy especially with the faster drill speed only and one hit kill being so easy to get quickly. I feel like a flying enemy or a slime-like enemy that splits on hit could make combat more difficult and interesting! Great entry

Jupiter II by Wheffle 2021-04-28T21:49:58Z

The mood of the game overall was so great! I loved the mechanic of scanning life to understand the mechanics of it. I do think the predator fish were the hardest thing to deal with overall and would have liked to see another lifeform of some kind, but the ending had me wanting more! The alternate ending also got a good laugh out of me!!

The Lost Treasure of the Bloody Pufferfishes by Teanan 2021-04-30T14:58:17Z

The collapsing floor layouts made for some tense levels, but I had a really difficult time dealing with the ghost pirates. I think some kind of other tool to scare them off like a flashlight could help a lot!

Shovel Guy by NotSpaghettiGames 2021-04-29T03:26:38Z

I think the midair block place caused the whole thing to be fairly easy but it was still an interesting experience that only has potential to grow greater with further additions to the current base!

I Stole a Wizard's Sack and All I Got Was This Lousy Infinite Pocket Universe by 6smith 2021-04-28T22:03:37Z

It's hard to craft a puzzle game that feels rewarding yet still challenging at any time, but to do it in a period of two or three days is certainly a feat to behold! Great work!

Grapple Tongue by Mors 2021-04-29T06:42:12Z

Really great appeal in the character and the core mechanic was fun and inventive. I will say that the electricity was my least favorite spin on the mechanic as it was hard to get precise tongue shots, but still great fun! My entry for LD48 also features a penguin traveling vertically so it was cool to see someone else's take on the theme still be similar in some regards but such a unique and great vision. I suppose that comparison of ideas and exections is one thing jams/comps are all about!

Autumn Hike by Brusi 2021-05-03T21:19:54Z

Really cute and great use of the theme! Your post on the new dithering effect was good too. The audio was a little crackly but still fit really well!

Drillmin by DPS2004 2021-04-28T18:40:19Z

Loved the polish of the game and thought the core gameplay of it was great. There were points where I felt one more variant of either an enemy that tries to block your path or a block that could give you a boost further down would help change gameplay up, but either way it was really cool!!

Carnibal by Paulo Vilela 2021-04-29T06:51:01Z

The character designs were fun, but the controls weren't clear and past the bridge troll I don't know where to go or how to interact with anything if I can. I also just die suddenly every now and then so I assume there is a time limit or some kind of penalty for not being somewhere at the right time, but it was hard to tell

Clown Pup by skill347 2021-05-07T05:22:32Z

I didn't get past the 2nd screen but though the art design was fun especially in the intro comic!

Just Another Job by ynneblack 2021-04-30T14:50:48Z

I only found a few endings and I'm not sure if I could do better? SPOILERS: >The best he could only answer the hat and the fish and the worst I got trapped in one of the windowsill jars?

I felt like I had interacted with everything but if there is another ending please let me know! It was fun to explore and start to learn more of the client!

Sblaaf!! by Thob 2021-04-28T22:11:55Z

I found the window for the punch to be a bit short and some of the horizontal momentum was tough to control but the look is good and there is certainly a lot of polish

Shire Story (Underground Edition) by Gustavo Rocha 2021-04-30T21:05:25Z

I had managed to clear most of the game just looting chests I passed by and using two throwing knives at any given time. I could one or two hit any enemy, but by the time Ghouls were introduced my knives started to disappear after use, and everything was too close range to use the bow and arrow really well. I think with some better enemy ai and more variety to room and floor generation, this could be a really great game! Destroying pots and tours could maybe act as sound cues that alert enemies and you could use them to distract them and sneak around! I should also say that the level of graphical polish and appeal to all of the animations and UI is some of the best I've seen this jam!

Into the Deep Web by Jon Topielski 2021-04-29T06:13:43Z

Great mix of Dicey Dungeon and Pokemon elements as an auto-battler! I was definitely itching for more and was just getting excited for bumping the fire dice against Science Man thinking of what could lay dormant deeper into the web! I really loved the visual style of the characters too, it had a great cartoony charm!

Corporate Mole by JoeDev 2021-04-28T00:05:35Z

Had a good time with the game as a whole! Great models, fun voice acting. It felt really polished for a jam and had a great core idea to it!!

GHOS by FlippingKun 2021-04-29T06:27:44Z

It's great you accomplished this in just a day! I think the mechanic is really fun and there was a lot of tension and strategy to when to swing my ghost off the hook. The obstacles like the bed and potted plant become so tense to work around after you get farther in. Good work on your first Ludum Dare entry and can't wait to see more!

Deep in the Graveyard by AndyKSWong 2021-04-28T18:57:39Z

Great fun! I called it quits after my first bull at 52meters but had a good time learning the mechanics of the enemies before that. I will say there were a few too many zombies to deal with and at times their layout seemed as if I didn't have a change, that and two different spectres on different tiles (light and dark). I really enjoyed the visual look of the lego-like characters too!

Awfully Good Pizza by beahives 2021-04-27T20:04:33Z

Fantastic character designs and really effective flourishes with the scrolling background behind the toppings and the initial pizza rollout animation! I had a good time with it and it definitely brought me back to food making flash games in the same vein

Derbys F#ckin Pissed by sdata 2021-04-28T21:32:14Z

@ariorick Sorry about that! I've started to learn Unity so future games can be accesible on Mac and Linux, but Gamemaker is what I'm most comfortable in so it is easiest for making games for jams/competitions. I have heard a lot of good things for Godot though and will definitely look into it for future works!

Rabbit Rappel by MatterLinx 2021-05-01T05:22:16Z

I felt that the combat with the spiders was a fun way to explore narrative with the game but took away from the core gameplay of swinging/mountain scaling. I think additional things like some timed hooks you have to latch onto or falling rocks could add a lot of urgency! I never though I'd play a game that reminded me of swinging on a playground by being a pig with a rabbit with a laser gun scaling a mountain, but here we are haha

Nestence by guimm12 2021-04-29T06:06:06Z

I really appreciated that each section no matter how short had a lot of attention to detail and care in it! There is a way to softlock the car level by driving back out to the left and down and then back to the right. It puts you outside the track and you can miss hitting the TV chip(?). Honestly I was just tinkering around to see what makes it tick, it was still a really fun ride through and through!

The Colorsmith by Jordan Ottesen 2021-05-03T21:02:15Z

The level design was really well done especially with things being able to look great even with part of the palette mixing into the background at a given time!

Banana Peel Slip by smallcluster 2021-04-29T06:59:40Z

I think my biggest suggestion would be increasing the speed of the combat/movement to progress through levels a bit quicker

Egress by SirDuck 2021-04-28T01:07:44Z

I couldn't figure out the upgrade system for my programs so after I had made 5 and they weren't able to cut it I hit a bit of a dead end. I liked the visual aesthetic and the concept of diving deeper through file directories!!

Deep into the vibe by Ariorick 2021-04-30T14:19:29Z

I think a full tunnel with diagonals walls could be a great addition on top of this both visually and mechanically! Maybe a checkpoint partially through the song too? Either way, fun entry!
