Very cool and satisfying game. Although the music is a little to loud for me.

Very cool and satisfying game. Although the music is a little to loud for me.
good game, took me way too long to beat the final boss I had a lot of trouble dodging his bullets. Other than that it was super fun I liked the enemy variety and the art was really cute.
like old flash games. thanks for nostalgie :)
I played until the final boss and I'm still amazed at how smooth the game was. Nicely done!
Very snappy platformer controls, nice quick restarts. I found bouncing on enemy + the automatic wall jump mechanic a little annoying as it would snap to the wall and your next jump would be outwards regardless. Really nice game though, was a fun experience
this is a very great idea for the theme given!! I haven't even thought about that concept, great job!! <3
This game was great! I enjoyed the idea of diving deeper into the monitor as you put it. I do agree the audio is a bit loud, but it played extremely well! Bravo!
really fun game. Love the concept of the game. Had to lower my audio from computer but other than that really great.
Very fun, it is challenging (or maybe im just a little bad) but the vary fast restart make's it very dynamic. I liked it!
Also, loved the simple art and the animations were very smooth, good job!!
I really liked the parallax effect (i think thats the right word?) on the background, showing you where you are going to go next! The final boss was super hard, but it was satisfying to beat.
I really like fast paced entries like this one, right to the point and quite challenging. The transition between the different levels is pretty nice as well!
Sooo good! Great mechanics and sprites!!
There was so much I loved about this game! I really liked the overall design of the art. It was very cohesive to the final result. I got a lot of celeste vibes while playing it. I really liked their interpretation of the deeper mechanic. I really liked how you progressed through the backgrounds, and sometimes jumped forward. All of the effects were very well done. I really enjoyed this game!
Super fun game. I liked the difficulty a lot, gave me some solid hollow knight vibes. Boss was a bit tough, but I never felt like it was impossible or that I couldn’t do it. Great job!
Man, I geeked out when playing through the tutorial section! So many right decisions. Spawning the player in where you teach them to shoot and placing them JUST out of range is pure genius. You tell them how to shoot but you also teach them naturally exactly how long their range is WITHOUT having to tell them. Really well done.
Another moment is the first introduction to jumping on enemy "heads". If you just walk onto them, they will slide you on down to the platform you want to go to. Hand-holding the player through the first head jumping.
These parts show a clear understanding of design, which I really appreciate <3
Super well done!
Wow this game needs more ratings. Well done. So much attention given to the important details. The way shooting the weapon pushes you back... The wall jump mechanic... Just excellent. And thank you for concentrating on these *important* details over things like graphics polish etc. The visuals are actually good but it's easy to tell you put real effort into the mechanics over everything else! Well done!! :)
There are so many little polish things you get right, absolutely incredible work! I love how you turned the level transitions into a mechanic, the art style is great, the squash-and-stretch on the jumping.... it's all so good!! The fact that it was a compo game makes it even more impressive!
possible for the final boss to spawn his projectiles in the wall and have them be stuck there
Enjoyable, fun game. The boss fight was hard, but afert 15 mins or so I managed to beat it! I liked it. :)
This was Good!straight to the point and fun! bit challenging especilly the jumps (& wall jump, enemy bounce) super props on quick restart! Lots of death but never lost much which kept me engaged the whole time! Art was charming and sound fitting. A great experience overall! Oh and supercool use of depth with the background!
Boss was definitely OP, but as above quick reset got me trying and trying till I got it. Quite intense!
This is one of my favorite compo games so far! Graphics and music were on point and the gameplay felt fluid and polished. The layering system is a neat implementation of the theme, and it was cool to the see the boss in the background before you get to fight him. My only complaint here is that the boss has a little too much health given his ability to insta-kill you, and I found it a bit hard to move around the arena. Still, having a boss fight in a compo game to begin with is an accomplishment, so props to you! :grin: Great job on this!
That was really good! Controls felt really tight, I love all the juice, and the use of the theme was really unique. I like the little puzzles where you have to go back and forth, though a wish there was more there (granted its a jam). All in all, fantastic work!
I think the tutorial and intro levels are really strong, but I had trouble with the final boss. I think a way to block/parry projectiles would help a lot with this issue. the concept of traversing forward and back through the depth of the screen felt really fresh and I think this is a project that could definitely be expanded on further!
I loved this game, one of my favorites of this edition. The graphics and the music fit perfectly with the style, I really liked the overall controls / moving system and the concept of using a 3rd dimension to "explain" level switching. I also saw a lot of attention to small details. Great job !
Thanks for submitting this to us to play on stream the other day! Loved the game, it was very well made and there were a lot of little details that really propelled it to the next level. Loved the way you took the theme, moving deeper into the background, and the gameplay was really fun.
Fun take on the theme, tried to cheese things by using the gun knockback to make higher jumps but didn't manage to break anything. Which that the levels when back a layer a bit more often as it made for interesting puzzles. Final boss was cool and slightly frustrating. Love it!
Even tho the art style is super simple, the movement system is on point and the shooting feels very meaty! I've played some fantastic platformers during this LD, but this had the most satisfying controls and visual/sound feedback when shooting!
This was super fun, if not a little punishing. I think having a heart system, and some slightly more fluid controls on the wall jump (maybe it's just me but I found it really cumbersome to have to quickly switch directions when I'm wall jumping? Might just be me) would be a nice addition. But those are just a suggestion, I could totally see myself playing this as a longer game. Keep it up!
Thanks for the nice comments everyone! I didn't realize I could respond to people with the @ sign, so here goes a whole bunch:
@langotriel @tim77 glad you noticed :)
@joh @lectvs @retrospecter @notexplosive @chrissx2 thank you thank you thank you!
@dandeleon happy you discovered that shooting under yourself mechanic :)
@tom-robson thanks! you don't have to push the opposite way when wall-jumping, you only have to press the jump button!
heyy good game, I liked the mechanic that you can see the next stage on background. and THAT BOSS IS SUPER HARD OMG, It took me maybe 30min hahahaha thanks for the game, I enjoyed a lot boss
Great game, feels very polished! I loved the backgrounds, they were a fun touch. I beat the boss in maybe 10 tries? It was the right level of challenging for me.
I'm learning Love2d and hope that its js export options are good enough to suit my needs, this game increases my hopes so thank you for that too! Any chance that you'll make the source available?
Cheers!
@felo07 glad you enjoyed it!
@hapiel great! source is listed on the download links, and i'll throw it here too: https://github.com/groverburger/ld48
Cheers, I must have skimmed over it (I found the Itch page before I found this one). Thanks a lot!
Cool game! I like the smooth mechanics and shooting the bullets feel very powerful. Nice in-game introduction of the mechanics. Cool that you could already see the next level(s) in the background. Fun levels, although it wasn't clear where a warp would lead, but that didn't matter that much while playing. The boss was quite challenging, but I managed!
Cool music as well! On the end screen I see that you didn't make it, so I think you should opt out of the audio category, or at least mention it in your description?
Wow the boss is hard but it's fun enough that I kept going. Really great job on this. The physics feel really good. The wall jump is super unforgiving but satisfying. Especially in the boss fight I found myself using it to lead his shots away.
