LD38 — A Small World

StopWatch by SkullPixel 2017-05-12T01:10:50Z

Really unique game! It's simple but fun. The graphics were decent and I liked the music. It would have been cool to add in some special moves or something (maybe with a turn cooldown), but this is a game jam so I understand time is an issue (no pun intended). Nice project!

Alchemist's Prison by Max Amaden 2017-05-08T20:59:51Z

First, love the audio effects, especially the talking noise. Had me laughing. The graphics are really amazing, and the idea is solid and the execution is solid! It was like an alchemist version of "Papers Please". I had a lot of fun! I would say that it only follows the theme very loosely. There were also a few minor bugs, like ingredients getting stuck part-way into the cauldron, but nothing big and nothing that bugged me a lot. After day 3 it began to repeat day 3, I figured I reached the end of the content for the game jam which is understandable. Overall, nice work, lots of fun!

Star Traveller by SecondDimension 2017-05-05T03:20:22Z

Really beautiful game! The graphics and the audio really set a mood. Great job on that, definitely the strongest aspect of this game! The puzzles, though simple, were fun and I had a great time exploring this game. Nice work!

Lottery: you judge them I judge you by doppelgunner 2017-05-03T06:46:35Z

Very interesting game. Very unique! I really enjoyed it. It's pretty complete and perfect for a game jam. Besides fleshing out some content and tweaking it's one of the few games I've played that seems pretty "done".

Planet Domination by Sir Magic 2017-05-03T21:15:28Z

Simple and elegant. Even though it's essentially a 2D game I love that it's rendered in 3D. The only thing I would add would maybe be a side-strafe option (or maybe even a "roll" move star fox style) so that dodging could be a little easier. I can imagine future plans involving power-ups and maybe even multiplayer later on. Overall nice work!

World Tours by Mathiouza 2017-05-08T20:12:40Z

Nice voice-overs and nice concept. I had fun even though it was short. 16 hours? Not bad!

Two Dot by wh05herlock 2017-05-07T11:24:11Z

I'm not huge on puzzle games like this and I get frustrated easily, but I finished it all the way through darn it! Nice work, it really had me thinking. Obviously some audio feedback could help with the feel of the game, but I understand how crunch time goes during a jam. The 'A' blocks were confusing to me for a few levels as well, wasn't sure exactly how they worked. You were able to squeeze in a lot of levels which is nice. Good work!

Rocket Roller Space Polo by pkenney 2017-05-03T08:13:48Z

This feels like an old arcade game, one of the really good ones. It's incredibly simple, and it's a TON of fun! Really awesome concept! I like how there's not really an "AI" so to speak, it's basically player vs environment. I'm not sure what else to say... the next obvious step would be multiplayer, but the game is complete as-is and I can't think of much to criticize. Nice work!

Also, the bouncy ball was hilarious. I was shamelessly giggling the whole time.

Find Your Friend by mrnannings 2017-05-08T23:10:24Z

Really cool music and good art, the game is a bit short though. Wasn't sure if there was more to it, like any clues as to where you could find the pink heart planet when you start. Maybe a score based on your time would help add more game to the game.

War in the Sky by ZYXer 2017-05-08T23:37:09Z

This is an awesome idea. RTS/building/simulation games are complex and take a deceptive amount of time to develop, so this was very ambitious for a game jam. The graphics are really awesome and I see the beginnings of a really fun game. I had a lot of fun just building stuff and watching the airships work. Nice work!

Small Atomic World War by Kroute 2017-05-08T20:28:30Z

Really fun concept! Atomic free-for-all! The controls are a little floaty for my taste but they were workable. It seemed like part-way through the game enemy atoms became offset from their hitboxes and weren't registering hits consistently, which made it hard to play. Was a ton of fun though! Nice art, nice music, nice idea, fun game, good project!

Crate Jump: Planet of the pressing of the spacebar by swellbastion 2017-05-05T00:52:47Z

Nice simple concept. Would make a good mobile game. I have two main suggestions: first, it was frustrating for the whole game to restart if I hit spikes. Second, it might have been nice to see further above the character, maybe to have the camera moved up to center on the character.

Like the concept! I think there are a lot of clever things you could do with it. Nice work!

Bullet Wrap by Chao 2017-05-02T23:39:41Z

This really tickled me to play. The ridiculousness of it when the world gets small was really entertaining. Good job! One thing that bugged me was actually the ability to move backwards-- I think a constant moving forward and ability to move side-to-side might have made more sense and simplified the game a bit. Also it would have been cool to see my score or my health/lives (if they existed, not sure that there was any).

Overall nice job! I had fun.

Super Collapse Guy by crazi456 2017-04-26T05:59:01Z

Really impressive! This was a ton of fun! Was level design difficult for this? It seems like it could be more of a brain teaser than actually playing it!

In A Nutshell by kyrmaal 2017-05-08T23:07:32Z

Fun graphics and fun music. Definitely a unique idea. In the end I don't think there was a lot of room for strategy, it seemed best to leave the harpoon at the top and time your shots, and spamming seemed to work pretty well as opposed to carefully aimed shots to get lots of parts in one. I like that it's so different, and it was fun to play! Cool project.

To do list by Finlal 2017-05-05T02:30:50Z

Wow, that took a dark turn. Ha! That was a really fun and interesting game, even if it left me with nightmares. It was really well thought-out and polished. I can't believe you guys finished all of that art and audio from scratch! It's really good. Well done!

Dr. M Little's Planet Mass Overdrive by slimabob 2017-05-03T02:09:01Z

That was an awesome little game! Very satisfying to build up the planet. And I loved the little easter egg at the end when you attach the whole solar system. The characters were fun too. My main suggestion would be to drop the click-to-power-up style of thruster, it might feel better to play with just click-to-go style flying. Overall I really enjoyed it!

Outer Reach - LD38 by Sandman1294 2017-05-08T12:19:53Z

Well that was a creepy ending haha. I was going to say, hey, this game has no point, but I guess that might be the point. One thing I'd definitely suggest is to make the dialog boxes click-to-continue instead of wait-to-go-away, it was frustrating waiting for the boxes to go away. Also, the player doesn't need to see "PAL, what can you tell me about this planet?" each time you click 'inspect', which combined with the dialog box thing makes the game slow to play.

Time constraints considered, it might have been better for there to be a bit more "game" in there as well, like some really simple resource management. Maybe you guys had some other ideas but ran out of time though. I understand. Really interesting concept and nice creepy atmosphere. Keep it up!

Belaruse Panic by bitdecay 2017-05-12T01:03:15Z

Hahaha! This was a genuinely fun game! When I ran over the outhouse and was still able to take a dump, I knew I was in for a treat. There are a few bugs: when I "died" in a restaurant action area it kept buying food over and over and I couldn't buy food with my current car. Also my gas gauge stopped working after a bit. There seemed to be some tile-edge glitches as well, the way GPUs scale tiles sometimes requires you to pad the edges of the tile art a few pixels to avoid "cracking" (no idea if this was the culprit, just a guess). None of those are huge deals, and I was having a grand time running over trash cans and just being stupid. Great work!

**Edit:** Looks like some other people already pointed you in the right direction for some of the graphical stuff. Sorry for repeating it!

Supernova by Veralos 2017-05-09T22:07:31Z

Love the premise! It was really exciting to fly around and visit all the planets. The parallax background effect was awesome, and I loved the pixel art. The music and sound effects were spot on as well. The platforming levels were fun, and I can see how the game could be expanded with more elements. I think it would have been cool if types of planets had different obstacles, like lava for volcanic planets or water for ocean planets. The controls at the beginning in the ship really confused me, I couldn't figure out why I couldn't turn left or right -- took me a bit to realize you have to be moving to turn left or right. I think it would be have been simpler just to let you spin the ship in place.

Really fun game, I really love exploration games and it definitely got me excited. Good work!

Ark of the new world by jojocanard 2017-05-03T02:01:14Z

Love the idea. I would have liked to see more strategy; some of the disasters seem pretty random, especially the lightning bolts. But the simplicity is nice and I really like where this is going! Would love to see it more fleshed out. Really neat idea, and it really fits the theme as well.

A Mind Is A Small Place by Juju Adams 2017-05-05T01:10:09Z

Holy crap. I shivered. That is an incredibly powerful game, especially having been made in only 72 hours. The graphics and art and audio all come together to enhance the message of the game. Just, super nice work. Well done!

P.S. If this game was made with one of you or friends/family in mind, or from personal experience, my condolences.

A Relatively Small World by Samusoidal 2017-05-03T09:10:23Z

The ambient is really good! The story was strangely compelling. Great work! I wasn't always sure what the goal was the first time through, and I wasn't sure if what I did was right or wrong all the time, but I feel like in a way it added to the discovery as I played it a couple more times.

Destruction Zone by Chronosv2 2017-05-03T23:08:10Z

Really fun straight-forward game. I like the shrinking platform idea, it's a good way to build tension. The controls were solid and I felt the increase in player power and difficulty was good. Games of this variety benefit a lot from more content (more powerups, enemies, etc.) which is tough to do in 48 hours, I think you did a great job with that! Really enjoyed the game!

Water Bear World by Aviland 2017-05-03T09:13:54Z

Really cool concept, goes along really well with the theme. The controls were driving me nuts at first, but after I figured them out I felt pretty accomplished. It was fun to get decently good at moving the little waterbear around. That said, the game was still really hard! I never was able to dodge the big bugs that ate you, and the ice always made me panic and lose control.

Had a good time playing it! Nice work!

Colonize by JustinM 2017-05-03T01:46:06Z

Interesting start! The lack of audio and lack of options make it really simplistic, and there isn't really a challenge, but I like where it is going! I love building games.

The Whole truth about Nature Selection (16+) by pascalman 2017-05-19T02:47:14Z

Nice and simple. I had fun. My main suggestion would be to make the delayed shooting feel a little better. I don't mind the delay, but some feedback making it easier to know when the shot will come would be nice, like some sort of ramping noise or visual. Also the ability to hold down the button and fire when you let go would have been cool. Both nitpicks! Overall, I liked it!

Statera by Kristian David 2017-05-11T07:17:22Z

Haha, I had slimes overrun the planet, then rabbits ate the slimes, then rhinos ate all the rabbits. Got some FPS drops going on because of the swarms. Highly entertaining. I didn't see any control help given anywhere, maybe I missed it? It took me a while to figure out I could meteor strike with spacebar. Also aiming the meteors was very difficult. Fun game though, nice work!

The Z Axis by Meaty McLazerPantz 2017-05-09T21:49:50Z

Pretty fun! The last level was a little frustrating with the reaction-tilts that were required to not fall into spikes, but overall it was really satisfying. Very loosely based on the theme though. Don't apologize for the shortness, level creating always takes a hit when you're on a time crunch and I think there are more than enough levels to get the full experience. Awesome game, nice work!

Defend Your Small World by arcadonauts 2017-05-05T01:53:35Z

Nice little game! It was surprisingly fun. I had a good time choosing upgrades and seeing the different weapons and shields (although when I got the rainbow shield and I felt gypped lol). I think it might have been easier to play with different controls, maybe two buttons on the keyboard instead of having to click on the planet and not on the planet (clicking didn't really correlate well to how you controlled the game). Had fun, glad I was able to play it!

Discours sur la révolution by annagavaldakedavra 2017-05-10T08:05:40Z

Ha, very interesting! Well, you fulfilled your vain goal to get me to listen to Hugo's speech.

Discours sur la révolution by annagavaldakedavra 2017-05-10T08:05:40Z

**Edit:** The site hiccuped and caused a double-post. Sorry :(

Space Pow Collins by wisstopher 2017-05-03T08:58:55Z

Very polished and good looking game. My only gripe (which is a gripe with a lot of text based adventure games) would be that something like "sit in chair" should work as well as "sit on chair". Contrary to the little blurb in-game about it being impossible to sit in the chair (har har), that's a pretty common way to say something like that.

But hey! It was a lot of fun, and I had a great experience. The music and atmosphere was excellent. I loved discovering the endings. Nice work!

Space Pow Collins by wisstopher 2017-05-05T02:34:40Z

@wisstopher Ah, well hey, I can't say it didn't work! It also helped that all the intractable objects were brightly colored and obvious. The first 5 minutes were frustrating but after I got the hang of it it was smooth sailing. Also, not gonna lie, the response to "sit in chair" did make me chuckle.

Squeaky Maze by Markus 2017-05-08T23:24:19Z

Really cool idea, I am a sucker for dungeon crawlers. I'd say the weakest aspect of the game would be the controls. It was really difficult to get used to and even then it was frustrating at times. The art and sound was good and added a lot to the feel of the game. Once I got the diamond sword I figured I had "won" because it is so powerful! The dungeons also got so big that I wasn't interested in continuing much after that. Overall it was fun and nice work!

Barbuglio by pataya 2017-05-08T06:42:15Z

Super simple and pretty fun! I love the audio, really nice job on that. And the little joke at the beginning, that made me happy. Great work, especially for your first game!

SpermoKart by Erick 2017-05-03T09:08:03Z

Ha, props for the idea. The controls are a little floaty and the blocky background grahpics detract from gameplay, but it was fun. Would like to see more "tracks" too, but I understand level creation isn't the highest priority for jam games. Had fun trying it out :)

Rise of the Termites by Togis 2017-05-03T01:02:22Z

I played this game for a long time completing all the levels. I am a sucker for strategy games and this game definitely scratched that itch! The music was really awesome too, it strangely fit the mood really well. My only complaints were that some of the room near the bottom tended to clip through, and for a long time I didn't realize you could make surface rooms (and therefore didn't know how to make extra soil). Great work, one of the best games I've played so far!

The Ludum Show by ketchupcoke 2017-05-03T09:19:35Z

Had a great time! It took me a while to find the flashlight, which was my hang-up (I feel like everyone gets stuck on something with these types of games). I really liked the art and I **loved** the cameras in the bushes watching you. I was totally reminded of gritty old-school 90s point-and-click adventures. I also like how you can break the night/day machine at night and how the flashlight makes night a little brighter. Nice details.

Very nice work! Super impressive that this is your first game!

Dungeon In a Bottle by jhandsy 2017-05-03T02:21:14Z

Really well polished and executed game! The controls do seem a little floaty and I got pretty frustrated with them. It seemed like it took a split second to latch to a wall for a jump, and it got annoying doing precise maneuvers. But yeah, I'm very impressed! And what a great idea for the theme!

Seagazer by Turncoda 2017-04-26T08:15:48Z

This game definitely invoked a sense of discovery and wonderment. That moment when it "clicked" and I knew what to do, and then getting a confirmation from the game breaking the darkness and silence for a moment, it was a pretty amazing feeling. Well done!

Life of an Ant by Connor McGrory 2017-05-12T02:42:36Z

This was good! It seemed really well polished, the graphics and animations were great, and the music was fantastic! It gave off a strong SimAnt vibe, and I *loved* that game as a kid. I don't think the game lingered too long on each task, so it was always interesting to play. Surprise depressing ending though haha. At first I thought the premise was that they were in an ant farm, but it got even more meta than I anticipated :P

Loved it, nice job!

The Deific's Guide to Creating, Exploiting, and Destroying Pocket Worlds by Smiling Cat Entertainment 2017-05-09T01:02:42Z

Very ambitious project! I really like it. It's a bit confusing to get into and it takes a bit of patience, a "hold your breath and jump in" attitude. After you figure it out it's fun, interesting, and chill to play. Nice work!

Orbitunes by ColeSlaughter 2017-05-10T08:12:22Z

It makes me really happy to find stuff like this.

Sling Ship 🌏 by Quoclon 2017-05-03T08:28:22Z

REALLY nice, especially for a first game! Hot dang. This was really fun and challenging, and I've never played anything like it. I had to get used to thinking about tangents and working through space in a different way. The controls were fine for me, I'm not sure how else you would do it.

I actually didn't know there was a way to restart the game, sometimes I would have to wait for the ship to crash. It was fun watching it interact with the planets though. Also the difficulty curve through the levels was up and down sometimes, but that's fine, you probably didn't have a ton of time to devote to level design. They were all doable and challenging, and I had a lot of fun!

Mini Global Market by armChairDeveloper 2017-05-09T00:25:04Z

Great idea! And that music... it's totally on crack. But it's awesome! Awesome crack music! Yarr.

Mr Pepper collects GMO's by Corbin 2017-05-05T01:59:08Z

Funny concept. Looks like there are some graphical issues with your tiles, and it feels like you might have used Box 2D physics? I'd say 95% of the time for a platformer that's unnecessary, it's better to fine-tune the simple physics manually.

Every Man's Sky by blaster391 2017-05-09T00:42:16Z

Haha wow! Really simple but amazing idea. Quite genius in fact. Well done! My only suggestion would be just more content, games like this gets a ton of millage out of content (maybe more planet customization or stuff like that). Very cool project!

Lunar Limit by Pubby 2017-04-25T08:39:07Z

Your technical write-up was really fun to read, and it was quite a trip to fire up an NES emulator and play a brand new game on it! Really enjoyed your project.

One Small Step by Tetristar-Interactive 2017-05-12T00:01:10Z

I really like the concept, but I was super confused for a while about how to do anything and what certain actions did. Also, the text in the beginning were a bit too pixilated in full screen mode, was hard to read and follow. But once I started figuring stuff out it was fun! Like I said, I love the idea and I'm a total sucker for these kinds of games. Nice work!

Tiny Terraformer by Wheffle 2017-04-24T22:24:08Z

Hey thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I learned how quickly a game like this can get complicated with all the moving parts. It was a doozy balancing the system. I believe trees currently are good at boosting the ecosystem score but not as efficient at producing oxygen (not by design, just how it ended up). I had moments where I doubted the game would be fun or work at all, so I'm happy it's at least playable and enjoyable.

Was able to slip in a small update with a couple more disasters to attempt to keep things interesting.

Tiny Terraformer by Wheffle 2017-04-27T02:13:07Z

@turncoda Thanks for the feedback! It makes me happy to hear people have enjoyed it.

I agree with you that having a player avatar wasn't entirely necessary for a game like this, although I wouldn't always rule it out as a bad thing to do off the cuff. In this case, gameplay might have benefited from having more of an RTS control style, and the way it turned out was basically leftover prototype code from my original plan for a rather different game. That's the nature of a jam, sometimes you end up with some weird style choices and combinations I guess.

Thanks again for the comment and taking the time to try it! This community continues to be awesome.

Tiny Terraformer by Wheffle 2017-04-28T20:06:38Z

@Togis thanks for playing it on stream! I was pretty nervous to be watching someone play it live, but it turned out to be a great experience, I got a lot of good feedback from you and other people. I also really appreciate you taking the time to go back and throw down a comment on the game page and link the vid!

Tiny Terraformer by Wheffle 2017-05-02T23:24:31Z

@Burgee Yeah, I realize now a pause feature would have been awesome. I figure of all the things I left out, it could have been worse! Thanks for playing it and giving feedback!

Tiny Terraformer by Wheffle 2017-05-09T19:03:51Z

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone! Loved reading your comments.

@palemachine I too wish I had made time to throw in a few sound effects, I think they would have added a lot to the game. But hey, it's a game jam. I'm not a composer so I admit I haphazardly threw the music together, but it's not supposed to be a grand score or a driving tune, just some background piano. The slow pace and gaps between musical sections are intentional, partly in an attempt to stave off letting the music get repetitive to the player. I was partially inspired by the app "TheoTown", the silent portions between the chill songs actually added a lot to the game for me.

@ColeSlaughter All great suggestions. The tutorial was something that I felt needed to be in the game after I realized how mysterious and complex the mechanics are to new players. I didn't think it through a ton, but I think for a game jam it's functional. A more fleshed-out tutorial would definitely be something I would add in if I continued working on it, especially one that doesn't eat up your game time while going through it (for some test players I watched 1/3 to 1/2 of the colony ship arrival time was spent reading the tutorial).

@Veralos Awesome .png upload! I love that people found that. The mechanic with having a player avatar and also pointing and clicking is a hold-over from what my original plan was (a shooter), but a lot of players don't seem to mind. A couple have commented that it seems weird. I think it's sort of like Terraria, so personally I think it's fine. If you take the mouse away, it might get confusing what your avatar is targeting for tasks because of the way the planet gets crowded near the end. If you take the avatar away, then I feel like you take a bit of the charm away as well. Thanks for bringing it up, though, it's something to think about.

@Meaty-McLazerPantz I would have liked to explain the mechanics a bit more to leave out possible ambiguity (with the numbers), or have worked it in such a way to be more intuitive. The tutorial at the end explains what a good % is for most stats, but I understand a lot of people end up skipping it. As far as jumping goes, it's most useful in the event of a volcano-- you'll need to jump over it for a few minutes to move around until it cools off. You can also jump over other hazards (fire, piranha plant) if you need to, although usually you'd probably want to take care of them immediately instead.

Tiny Terraformer by Wheffle 2017-05-11T20:08:17Z

@rpmoura Oh snap. My best guess is that your rig doesn't support shaders, might need to update or install DirectX. I have only been using shaders for a little bit so I'm not an expert, but try Microsoft's website:

NO STEP ON HYOOMINS by makenai 2017-04-27T07:10:12Z

Really unique, clever, and simple how you control the shoes. Lots of fun! Also oddly satisfying to go on a bloodlusted rampage after playing the game "for real" a few times...

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2017-05-02T21:34:02Z

Fun game! Loved it! Really original idea, went well with the theme, simple, and it was a lot of fun! As the levels got bigger the camera pan got annoying, but I realized you could skip it after a while. Might have been nice to know that earlier. But yeah, great fun!

Edit: I also LOVE the planet face animations. So good!

A Small Carrot World by js_ 2017-05-09T00:00:32Z

Really fun and simple idea! I like it. I can see how it could be fleshed out easily and have a lot of content added. Nice job!

From Zer0 to Hero by carlosvVk 2017-05-08T20:36:24Z

Awesome idea, simple yet fun. At the beginning I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, I was blocking both colors of projectiles, but I figured it out quickly by experimenting. Other than that, it was a simple yet fun experience! Also god was kind of a jerk lol.

Desktop Adventure by Gama Croma 2017-05-19T02:53:17Z

Really clever idea! I think the desktop theme could have been hammed up a bit more, but it was really good. I enjoyed it! The controls were smooth and precise. Nice job!

Masked by fpwong 2017-05-05T01:38:46Z

Really enjoyed a lot of aspects of this. I liked the dash mechanic and some of the enemy A.I. I really enjoyed that some of the boss battles were kind of like bullet-hells, not sure I've seen that done very often in an FPS. The Doom-esque mood was pretty spot-on as well. Although I think it was your take on "small world", the visibility range was kind of frustrating to play with. The guns were also a little bit hard to use. Overall I enjoyed it, though. Good work!

Streets of Shame by villevmvaris 2017-05-03T01:53:35Z

Pretty funny idea! I liked where it was going. Right now it seems pretty easy to win by avoiding everyone, or lying. Or maybe I'm not understanding the game 100%.

Small Talks by kara 2017-05-09T00:10:24Z

Ha, nice idea! It's simple, fun, and hilarious. Grandma is OP. Nice music, graphics, and animation. Also a unique take on the "small world" theme. Good work!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Precious Cargo by CMLSC 2017-08-04T06:37:39Z

Really sharp well-polished game! Pretty hectic, and pretty fun. I like the setting and the pixel graphics are pretty awesome. The audio brings it all together. My main criticism would be that the window is a bit small, and given that my character is made of 8 pixels I lose track of him really easily when there are a few enemies on the screen. Maybe that was a design decision. Cool game, glad I found it!

Winding Woods by tybantarnusa 2017-08-01T08:32:58Z

Nice idea! I liked trying to conserve power and hop between charging ports. I do think that there's little point to making the player wait for the phone to charge at an outlet, it took quite a while to charge up from 10% to 100%. Also I kind of got stuck at the charging station a couple of times, not sure how I jostled out (I think when I hit '1' to deactivate the cord it would immediately think I wanted to use it again). I didn't realize I could turn my phone off with 'F' either until I accidentally pressed it.

Overall a great idea, could use a lot of polish but hey, it's a game jam!

Electrify by PlantProgrammer 2017-08-03T03:04:18Z

Really nice idea. There could be some quality-of-life changes, like distinguishing the 'and' gates from the 'or' gates better (even though there was only on 'or' gate in the whole game, later levels could include them). Was also a very difficult game, maybe making it 'turn-based' would make it easier to get timings correctly. As it stands it's kind of a mad rush to click a bunch of times and then click somewhere else a bunch of times at the right time. Very cool concept though, I really like it!

Goyom by stefvanschie 2017-08-03T02:48:13Z

I like the simplicity of the game. Also, daily levels! That's really cool that you did some work ahead of time to be able to release those on a schedule. Not sure I have seen that before, well done!

I'd probably prefer the number showing how many moves I have left to just always be on instead of having to mouse over it. Also it's not clear how much energy each candy gives besides trial and error. Two small suggestions, was a great entry!

Inferno by Megalink 2017-08-07T06:58:31Z

A very genuinely fun game! I like the concept of the blood bar. Nice assortment of weapons too, very nice for a jam. And a perk upgrade system! Lots of stuff, really above and beyond what I was expecting.

My main complaint was that the graphic of the blood powering you up was the same as enemy bullets, and there was a similar issue with the enemies-spawn-four-bullets-on-death perk. There was no way to easily know what was going to hurt you and what wasn't. Sometimes the blood particles entering my character really freaked me out because I thought I was getting bombarded by seeking bullets or something. I noticed it was also difficult to tell when I got hit, maybe some kind of flash and/or noise when you get hit would be helpful.

Really enjoyed it, keep up the good work!

The Fifth Exponent by axoona 2017-08-02T08:58:06Z

Fun idea. Is there a way to restart the game though? I couldn't find a way, I just had to close the window and restart the game. Loved the art and animations, enjoyed the dialogue as well. Nice work!

Apocalypse by Manafest 2017-08-03T03:34:42Z

Fun idea and fun game! Seems like the best spell for efficiency was chain lightning, couldn't save up enough for the final spell without just spamming that one. Great idea though!

Power Plant Simulator. by BroRawr 2017-08-03T12:49:54Z

Wow, really tight package! Pretty creative concept and everything jives perfectly. The visuals and audio are great, and it goes great with the theme. Was a lot of fun to play!

Fart Squirrel by Pandakipu 2017-08-03T23:09:51Z

**WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED.**

Actually a pretty good side-scroller mechanic. Two complaints: one, the game started out *really* hard and unforgiving. Two, there were not enemies to fart-kill. I'm very happy I found this, my day is complete.

My E-Car by wilthord 2017-08-02T07:57:46Z

Pretty fun NES-style simple game. The 'regular' speed seemed a lot slower than necessary, I held down space the entire time. Also the cars getting up next to you are really lethal, not because they steal your energy but because they run you off the road and block you. Maybe that was intentional, haha. Nice job on getting a fun game out there!

Feed the machine by Vivoubos 2017-08-03T23:33:05Z

Jean-Bobby hasn't had mushrooms today, but I felt like I did as I played this lol. I wasn't sure about it at first but it turned out to be a pretty fun experience. I like how things escalated. The randomness was pretty funny too. Also the sound effects were great especially the explosion hahaha. At the end it seemed like the machine (or whatever) regained power based on how many items you gave it, making wood a really bad choice and berries a really good one. That was my only gripe really, it was hard to keep it alive and kill the bosses after the berry bushes ran out. Pretty interesting project, well done!

Buddies Bad Day by elit3dgaming 2017-08-03T02:52:42Z

Nice entry, pretty impressive making a game so fast without an engine like Unity! Simple and fun, would totally play this while pretending to listen to the lecture at school. I liked that the energy bar was in discrete units to make it easy to know how many spaces you had left to move, and the sounds were a nice touch. The gameplay itself is simple and nothing crazy, but I'm sure you could add more mechanics given time.

Keep your sanity by Lorthal 2017-08-03T04:55:05Z

Nice job making this game pretty creepy. I enjoyed it! I love the Amnesia style sanity meter, it was a clever idea for this LD's theme. The guns could be a little more satisfying to use (some audio feedback when you land a hit, maybe make them a little more powerful, not sure). The music was also a little repetitive, but I understand your focus isn't going to be on audio very much for a game jam. Loved the death sequence haha. Glad to have found this, keep it up!

3% | Power Saver by iseeicy 2017-08-02T06:50:33Z

I really enjoyed this actually. It's simple and I love the art, the ambient noises were on point as well. It took an obvious idea and executed it so incredibly literally that it came around the bend and became amusing. Nice work!

Breathless Parks - Running, out of Power by gonutz 2017-08-03T04:59:56Z

Haha, incredible visuals and audio! Really fantastic job on that, I can tell that was one of your major focuses for compo. Obviously there's not much gameplay, but it made me laugh and was a good experience while it lasted.

PowrConnectr by JOrbits 2017-08-03T22:46:04Z

Pretty fun puzzle game. Had me stumped a few times but was able to figure it out in not too much time, good sign of decent puzzle design. Good visuals and appropriate music, although it can get a bit repetitive. Impressed with the number of levels you were able to put into it. Nice work!

How I Met Your Great Great Grandmother by PeachTreeOath 2017-08-01T08:02:10Z

I'm really impressed with this. For the life of me I am terrible at making puzzle games and will always fight to avoid manual level creation at all cost. The number of complex levels you guys put together with a meaningful puzzle mechanic is really impressive for a game jam. The mechanics are awesome too, a combination of simple concepts that work really well together to add complexity. Very nice!

Static Man by tifu 2017-08-02T07:07:17Z

Pretty creepy. Nice work on that. As others have said, there isn't really time to find fuel and also run from the ghost. I think it could have been cool if you were 100% safe in the furnace room while it was lit, but you had to venture into the darkness to gather fuel to keep it lit.

Sky Sea by Zeriver 2017-08-03T05:09:50Z

Nice job! Great visuals and audio, really immersive. I would totally play more of this. I can't think of any suggestions off the top of my head, I could see more content and mechanics making this a pretty solid text adventure game. Very nice!

Devil On Rails by FiloGC 2017-08-01T05:59:13Z

The graphics, especially the player character and his animations, are really great. I also like the setting, it's simple and fun. The gameplay is messy, however. The ranged attacks are especially unsatisfying. Great job though, it's a jam and you guys made something fun, and also kudos on coordinating between *eight* people, that's a feat by itself!

OxenOut by Dragwa 2017-08-03T10:25:11Z

Really awesome idea, visuals, and audio. Has a lot of potential. Could tell there were some concepts you didn't get to implement. The last boss level was really confusing as well, there was no feedback for whether you were actually doing damage to the monster. There wasn't really an indication of what to do. Really enjoyed it, though, great entry!

The Berserker by PlexusDuMenton 2017-08-01T05:30:46Z

The mechanics are solid, it's a fun melee twinstick kind of game! I can tell you ran out of time for content, which is pretty standard for compo. Has potential and it was fun even as is!

Alienation by Robber 2017-08-01T04:55:18Z

Absolutely beautiful, by far the prettiest game I have played so far. Controls were tight and it was pretty fun. My criticisms would be that the gameplay was not super innovative and that it only loosely followed the theme. Great experience though, well done!

Power de Poisson by Jajo 2017-08-03T23:19:01Z

Haha, nice simple game. That music, lol. Would have been nice to have some extra control, like moving back and forth on the screen. It was hard to avoid those anchors, sometimes a combo of spikes and anchor was unavoidable. Impressively done in Java though! Nice little project, keep at it!

Asteroid Runner by Nordtraveller 2017-08-02T07:46:13Z

Cool idea! Was actually a lot of fun going slow and deliberate, trying to find a path through the asteroids. I loved the ship's graphics, the directional thrusters, and all the attention to detail given there. I would have liked to have some sideways shimmy movement ability, maybe with 'Q' and 'E'. Some kind of indicator for how close you are to the edge of the field would have been cool too, maybe a very simple map. Overall I really liked it, nice work!

Erebot by aevek 2017-08-01T06:33:13Z

Cool concept, and well executed! The graphics were simple but perfect, everything fit really well together. The controls took me a while to get used to, but they were fine. It also took me a bit to realize that the robot's wheels could be in the light while the panels on his head could still be in the shadows, and vice-versa. I thought the game was bugged until I figured this out. The camera was actually really great most of the time, but there were one or two moments where my view was blocked by a bridge in front of the camera and I just had to keep the gas pedal down and have faith.

Overall this was one of the best executed and most fun games I have played so far. Well done!

Phil by Turncoda 2017-08-05T03:30:13Z

Awesome puzzle game! Figuring out that last puzzle by setting up an epic relay felt really good. I like the art and the sounds, the music wasn't too bad either. It seemed like a very polished game, very respectable for LD. I did notice a spot where you could get stuck (the crystal behind a door that opens when you shoot a switch, the switch isn't accessible on the other side of the door and it closes behind you), but I recognized the danger and managed to not get stuck. Also it would be a nice QOL tweak to snap the dropped crystals onto a grid, sometimes their shots wouldn't line up if you didn't place them perfectly. Other than that nothing else came to mind, I had a great time. I'm pretty terrible at coming up with puzzles and executing them, so I'm always impressed with a well done puzzle game for Ludum Dare. Nice work!

Escape! by Damoy 2017-08-03T03:15:50Z

Fun game and lots of levels! I enjoyed the puzzles. The controls seem to be a bit wonky though, I often ended up running one space more than I wanted to. Maybe slow the game down a bit to prevent that? Also the theme seemed a little shoe-horned in but hey, it worked. Also, you made this from scratch with Java, which is incredibly impressive in its own right. Good work!

Unobtainium by BinarySpark 2017-08-03T13:43:21Z

I have spent the most time playing this game than any other game yet by far. Excellent entry! And compo to boot! YOU'RE A WIZARD! I had so much fun digging mines, combining ores for efficiency and finding dat sweet purple unobtainium. My sole gripe was that the controls seemed sticky sometimes, often I'd want to flash my lamp but it was stubborn and took several tries to turn off, wasting lots of fuel. Despite the stickiness, I absolutely adored this game.

Edit: I forgot to mention the excellent graphics and animations. They are simple but fit so well. Audio would have added a lot to the game but you can never really fault a compo game for not prioritizing audio. It turned out great as-is.

Lamplight by Wheffle 2017-07-31T05:27:38Z

@n4tticus Oh, thanks for the tip! And thanks for giving the game a go :)

Lamplight by Wheffle 2017-08-01T01:09:26Z

@ryzy27 Thanks! I actually tested with 1-hex radius sight, and it was too easy with the beginning enemies. If I had time to implement more interesting enemies or revamp how they move, I agree it would have felt a little nicer to see 1 hex around you. As it stands you can still detect tracks near you at least.

Lamplight by Wheffle 2017-08-01T07:34:47Z

@PeachTreeOath Thanks! This was my first time doing a full-on interactive tutorial, actually, but I figured it was really needed for this game due to the weird mechanics. It was really sloppily done code-wise but it worked.

Also, I'll tell you a little secret: I have no experience doing a hex grid. I definitely did not create a proper hex system, I totally cheated it in beyond doing a little geometry to make sure the physical hexes fit together well enough. Those hexes are each their own instance, and at the beginning of each room they just run some collision checks to find their neighbors and plug them into some data structures for future reference. Again, sloppy but functional.

Lamplight by Wheffle 2017-08-02T20:07:31Z

Thanks for the feedback guys!

@stefvanschie @xsior About the difficulty of recovering lamp energy, in its current state there is not much to see content-wise so I didn't want to make it easy for the player to go indefinitely and kind of burn out on the game. I had plans to make floors with bosses (and many more enemy types), and after each boss you'd fully recharge your lamp, but of course I ran out of time.

I might continue with it post-LD and see what it becomes. Again, thanks for the feedback and ratings everyone!

Lamplight by Wheffle 2017-08-02T23:03:37Z

@gonutz Ah, that crash is very odd. Does it happen every time? I can't seem to reproduce it on any of my systems. Give me some details about your system if you see this, could help to track it down.

Lamplight by Wheffle 2017-08-03T11:52:33Z

@matkubik Thanks! Glad you liked it!

@xsior Interesting. I *am* using a shader, so machines that don't have DirectX or OpenGL are going to have issues. I had one person get a shader-related error in the last LD. Was there a crash report of any kind?

Lamplight by Wheffle 2017-08-04T06:22:06Z

@cmlsc Thanks for playing and giving feedback! I was going for more of a retro feel with the visuals. Obviously I'm not an artist, I'm primarily a programmer. Overall I'm pretty satisfied that the visuals came out even passable, given I only had 48 hours and managed to squeeze in sound effects and music

Lamplight by Wheffle 2017-08-04T21:36:21Z

@pianoman373 Thanks for testing that Linux build for me! Sorry it didn't end up working. Linux can be finicky, and it's especially frustrating since I don't have a machine of my own to do real tests on. I'll try poking around with it today if I have time. Thankfully, like you said, the web build exists.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I don't agree with the "no skill involved" claim, but I agree that the game isn't balanced in general. I tend to play more fast and loose, moving around and using my character's 1-hex trail sight to find monsters to conserve lamp fuel, so there are different ways to play it. But yes, there needs to be some tweaking and more mechanics added to get the game into a more interesting state. I think the concept was communicated well; I wasn't sure if the core idea would turn out well and I was happy to see it works at least a bit. And it's LD, so ain't that the way, right?

Not everything is explained in the game, which is a common problem for LD games. I think in some cases this is OK, it can be fun to try to learn by trial and error what a new enemy is up to, but in other cases it's not optimal to go that route and it just confuses the player. Again, it's LD, ain't that the way.

Next time hopefully I'll be a bit more organized and the my entry will come out a little bit better in these areas. Again, thanks for the feedback, the time you guys took to play the game and write detailed comments is very appreciated!

Room Cleaner Robot 3000 by Hazza 2017-08-02T08:15:50Z

Love the idea and I had a lot of fun with it. But man, what is with that music?? Hahaha, it was nutso. The controls also seemed a little floaty, I understand that might be part of the challenge, but it added a little bit of frustration. Overall really fun, though, I enjoyed it all the way through! And the concept really tickled me.

Climate Clicker by Burgee 2017-08-03T12:19:53Z

Awesome, really well done! Really great graphics, superb audio, engaging gameplay, lots of tips and help, you guys did everything! It was a lot of fun taking care of the people at first, and then killing them all later. I'd say that the only criticism I have is that it wasn't entirely clear to me what increased my remote's power exactly (did I need to perform miracles to generate faith, or was it based on population, or neither?). Very impressive though, excellent work!

Running away from the power packs by guojin 2017-08-01T05:43:16Z

This was hilarious. The character was funny and the premise was funny. Obviously could use some polish and a little bit more game mechanic to work with, but good job :)

Deep Space Burrito by Shamuel 2017-08-01T06:56:19Z

Love the idea, and the art is on point. I liked getting a bunch of burritos and sending them gently floating towards the microwave. I wasn't sure if there was a failure condition, my guy never died even though my hunger meter went empty. Also my hand turned blue and I wasn't sure why. A little more communication with the player would be helpful.

Fun game, and hilarious! Nice job!

Fall Sleep by MichelAlonso 2017-08-01T05:02:20Z

Cool idea, simple and fun. I kind of like the gray assets too, adds simplicity to the game and you made it work. A "you died" screen and some kind of explanation could have added a little polish to the game, but hey it's a jam!

Step out of the light by Zdeno 2017-08-03T16:22:04Z

This sure is piece of work! Those jokes! Decent puzzles, was pretty entertaining, although I think the light mechanic was a little shoe-horned in and didn't contribute a whole lot to the experience. Wonderful graphics and, well, awesome main character haha! So unexpectedly hilarious. I'll say though that a little less frequent jokes would probably help the feature to have more impact and last longer :P

Blobby by Descrout 2017-08-02T09:21:05Z

Woah, was not expecting to cure cancer today! LOL! Really surprisingly fun game, super nice job! All the mechanics really jive together super well, and the music was pretty fun. Gotta say that the last level was really frustrating, I think what was the most frustrating was that small enemy at the beginning right there to the right. It made it so easy to get killed or cripple you so fast! Also I would have loved for there to be some kind of background texture so that when all the platforms were off-screen I could have judged how far I had moved to stick landings by memory. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this game, one of my favorites so far!

Power Defense by Daepso 2017-08-02T09:30:05Z

Cool idea and good visuals. Needed a little playtesting though. The tanks were way too... well, tanky. Even 'cheating' I had a hard time taking out any waves before the FPS dropped due to all the action. Lots of potential, just needs some balancing!

Deep Space Nine Volts by Boxfort 2017-08-03T23:46:03Z

**A winner is me!**

I have to say that is the worst designed spaceship I have ever seen lol. Very cool game idea! I can see how this can easily be expanded upon too, with random events happening and maybe more stations. Seemed very solid, had a lot of fun (even though that captain dude could have been helping instead of barking at me the whole time :P ). I think the UI could have been improved, maybe using power bars for the different rooms instead of icons that faded. It was hard to tell when one was going dead because they were all different colors. Maybe even if they were all the same color like white and all faded to black as they went dead, might have been easier to tell. Nice project, keep it up!

Jar in a Spaceship by Tec 2017-08-02T08:42:05Z

Does this need to be labeled unfinished? Not sure if I did something wrong, just got a character walking around an empty space with no way to exit the game. Opening story had potential, looks like you didn't finish though.

Jar in a Spaceship by Tec 2017-08-02T23:21:13Z

Ah! Well I'll keep checking back periodically to see if you've made any progress on the bugs, or maybe try it on different systems. Cheers!

Space Survival by SISUNEN 2017-08-02T08:33:57Z

Cool idea. Seems like you can just sit around indefinitely though. Even though you slowly drain power, powerups appear often enough around you that moving makes you die a lot faster. Also there's not exit button. Awkward! Great idea and nice work though!

Dr Who Text Adventure Game by Quacky22200 2017-08-02T07:31:45Z

Best presented text adventure I have ever played. It was so satisfying with the audio, music, and the way the text appeared. Would be interested to see more!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

The More You Make by TerraCottaFrog 2017-12-07T23:12:36Z

You know, these are actually pretty good. I especially love how spectacularly you explode in every game. Really cheeky idea for the theme, I like it!

Taser Loser by Igor KinGamer 2017-12-20T00:38:37Z

Pretty funny game, I think you can get stuck on the floor of the level though. Couldn't figure out how to climb that ladder that ends under a platform. Pretty cool project though.

Synapse by Geckoo1337 2017-12-15T06:12:04Z

Nice puzzle game, and really original! The movements seemed a little janky, would be nice if they were a little smoother. Also I didn't fully understand what I was doing sometimes, some levels I beat and I wasn't completely sure what I did. But maybe that was the point, to "feel" out the puzzle? Really interesting, enjoyed this entry!

Temples of Purgatory by Gulyasarni66 2017-12-06T05:46:44Z

I like the graphics style and I love the ambient music that seems to change depending on location. The controls feel a little sluggish, I wouldn't mind a speed-up of the game (including the monsters), and combat wasn't that satisfying (but that's hard to pull off in these types of games). Had some fun though, the game seems polished and bug-free which is a feat in itself.

Ignorance is Bliss by Aurel300 2017-12-12T04:30:21Z

Wow this game is insane. I can't believe you guys finished this in 72 hours. There is so much gameplay here... I'm going to have to play through it to get a few more of the endings haha. My only gripe is that some of the music tracks are very repetitive, but even so I'm not sure how you guys made so many different tracks in time. Seriously, well done. Very awesome.

Damn Birds by omaskery 2017-12-07T18:35:13Z

Light on features but simple and pretty fun. It's amazing how you made birds recognizable with literally 5 pixels, pretty impressed and tickled by that. Obviously some audio and some kind of progression would help take the game further, but LD's a crunch and that's the way of it. Had fun and had a few laughs. Nice job!

Brick Racer by nekoballs 2017-12-20T00:32:12Z

At first I was really confused. Then I realized the mechanics of the game. THEN I realized the genius of the game: to get a good score you have to be stupid! I played this a lot trying to get a good score, and I had to really tear myself away from it to play other games. Extremely simple but effective mechanic. Nice!

Ingredients of Insanity by zirconcode 2017-12-21T00:10:57Z

Nice two player game! Had fun with my nephew.

Final Stand by agentparsec 2017-12-21T01:08:08Z

Pretty cool game. The aim seemed a little off-center, probably because the bullets were coming from the gun which was off to the side. Not a big deal but was a little weird. Also it was hard to tell what exact benefits the crystals gave. But I liked it, keep it up!

Spacelitch by Flaterectomy 2017-12-15T06:05:34Z

Wow, this gets really hard! I like the old school graphics, sounds, and music, but the gameplay is a little tough for me (maybe I'm just not that good at shmups? Totally possible.) Would be nice in some of the close quarters parts if your bullets only bounced once or something, it's easy to create a corridor of doom for yourself just trying to shoot enemies.

Was pretty cool though! I liked the dialogue. Good work!

RE-SANTA by Thygrrr 2017-12-12T03:24:08Z

This was insanely awesome. The sweater graphics were just so spot-on, and along with the gameplay and audio made for an excellent experience. Finding this made me really happy. Such a good job! The gameplay does get tedious and monotonous after a long play session, but that's to be expected when you're trying to con 50 friends with re-gifts!

Indoor Haul by iseeicy 2017-12-05T21:25:10Z

Really funny idea, and original. The map generator is really impressive, and the audio was really spot on. Held my attention for a long time, there's just something satisfying about looting a bunch of crap from a mall. It was a little difficult to get items into the cart, but I got used to it. Also, 5 minutes seemed a little short for exploring the mall, I feel like a 10 minute mode would have been cool (I suppose that would be easy to add in, so not a big deal). Overall, awesome job!

Hungry Ghost by mrnyarlathotep 2017-12-07T18:21:53Z

You explored a lot of cool variations on a simple idea. Nice work! Really enjoyed my playthrough. Loved the sprite changes as your ghost got fatter. Also enjoyed being able to restart the level quickly. My main suggestion would be to perhaps run the game with a larger view-port at the same resolution to increase visibility.

Units of measurement are notorious hoarders of francium by yokcos700 2017-12-21T00:45:36Z

Haha very interesting game. Took me a while to realize the birds were on my side. And, well, what the heck was happening. I was amused.

Poser by PeachTreeOath 2017-12-06T06:54:14Z

Yet another really original idea. And executed well to boot! My absolute favorite part is how the music shifts when you change clothes. It had my wife and I laughing out loud. Also, kudos on organizing with such a big team! That's amazing.

You can't handle my final form by Zeriver 2017-12-06T06:23:42Z

Wow! This was such a good idea. I wasn't sure what to expect at all, and I was not disappointed. My brain feels fuzzy now. One of the best games I've played so far!

The Will of the Wisps by adsilcott 2017-12-07T07:40:30Z

Really cool audio/visual experience! I absolutely loved how stuff lying around became menacing as you gathered more fireflies. That was awesome. And the music was superb. My only suggestion would be that it might have been nice for there to be a visual cue to let the player know an area is blocked off, or when an area is unlocked. I was confused why I couldn't go into certain dark places at first, and did quite a bit of wandering sometimes after areas were unlocked. Overall, really well done! Really glad I found this. Kudos guys!

Presents by gilborn 2017-12-07T19:42:51Z

I thought I has exploiting when I decided to climb the presents to get out. Lo and behold, that was the secret objective! That was pretty awesome. The music was a really great original track that you managed to make sound very christmasy, pretty impressive. My only gripe would be that the collisions were a little wonky, but overall it was an original idea and it made me laugh a lot. Nice work!

PullPals by eric-lathrop 2017-12-12T03:20:45Z

That was really fun and very different! I really appreciate such an original idea. The gameplay was simple and fun, the graphics were good where it matters, and the audio was excellent. I think it slightly missed the theme, but that's the only real criticism I have.

The Harsh Life of Terry the Homeless Dude by lautregars 2017-12-06T05:23:31Z

Haha this is hilarious. Awesome audio and honestly the pixel art is spot-on. Funny gameplay, had me laughing. Very nice job, especially for a first try! Definitely keep at it.

Speed Demon by Incredible Ape 2017-12-07T08:10:16Z

Great game. I'm really bad at it! lol. The teleportation instead of movement is a nice touch, it takes a bit to get used to and it messes with my mind, which I enjoy. The art was fantastic as well. I can see a lot of potential with added sound and a heavy metal track or something.

Tuftles by Zirrrus 2017-12-20T23:40:02Z

Nice concept, but it's kind of frustrating to play without being able to see stats for all of them at once. I understand though that that might create a ton of clutter later on. Also I tried not doing anything except cleaning up dead ones and that seemed to keep the herd alive still, so there's some balancing work too. But overall it was a fun concept and it was fun!

Maze Crawler by Hilvon 2017-12-06T04:58:25Z

Cool idea. I saw a lot of potential, I got a great vibe wandering the halls. Also very impressive procedural blockage system. Glad I found this!

The Adventures of Marty Graw by Samusoidal 2017-12-07T21:27:58Z

Pretty cool, love the idea of off-loading your gold every now and then so you aren't weighed down. It's simple and it's engaging. The controls were tight and worked well. Loved the music as well. Nice project!

The Exalted by Flubz 2017-12-19T23:34:32Z

Cool simple game and I love the graphics. It was a little confusing at first. It's very easy to kill yourself but that's part of the game, which is cool.

Cardhoard by HacksawUnit 2017-12-08T01:45:59Z

Really tight controls and engaging for what a small game it is. Nice art and the sounds are perfect. Nice one!

Risky Robbery by Markus 2017-12-12T04:52:29Z

Really cool idea! The action system was a little bit confusing, but exploring was fun and opening safes felt awesome. The laser rooms were a little annoying, there was no way to know they were there until it was too late. But overall it was really engaging and such a cool idea. Would love to see this more fleshed out!

Tony Hawk's Hatchback Stunt Simulator: Ghost Protocol by Eli Delventhal 2017-12-12T04:39:52Z

lol! The controls are awful, but it was pretty funny. The music is really fitting. And the online/ghost-driver system is pretty cool and impressive. Fun project!

Dashing Delivery by Mars 2017-12-20T00:09:15Z

Fun idea, but the "you get minus points for wasted presents" doesn't feel very impactful. Maybe it would be cooler to have something more concrete happen when you missed, like damaging the houses or wrecking cars. Also, the motion blur really recked my FPS for some reason, so maybe tone that down or make it an option.

Chuckles, the Word Juggler by SecretPocketCat 2017-12-07T23:22:49Z

Nice concept! 159 knives baby! I kinda was hoping knives would keep getting added eventually. Gotta pull down those 100wpm freaks at some point, right? Really awesome, simple and well-executed.

Chuckles, the Word Juggler by SecretPocketCat 2017-12-10T17:53:24Z

@secretpocketcat oooooo, I might give it another go and try to get the 4th and 5th knives.

Chuckles, the Word Juggler by SecretPocketCat 2017-12-20T23:31:54Z

@jeremy-ryan Dang it! I just got 168. Maybe I'll try to beat yours later, but I'm all typed out for now. Nice job!

72CoCSD by Togis 2017-12-04T21:46:03Z

Woah it's me! I'm famous!

72CoCSD by Togis 2017-12-04T22:05:52Z

@togis Not a problem, don't mind at all! Looking forward to trying the game out later!

72CoCSD by Togis 2017-12-06T06:41:19Z

Very awesome! Had no idea what to expect. Such a cool idea. Kind of a mix of a windows/customer support parody and a speed typing game. It especially tickled me being able to face-roll the keyboard in the cutscene sections and have my auto response get typed. Super original, extremely well executed, and a ton of fun!

Sanguinite by Wheffle 2017-12-05T22:57:59Z

Thanks for the feedback!

@gilborn You're right, the execution didn't nail the theme as well as it did when it was just an idea in my head. Randomly got some good ideas *the morning after* for some easy changes to help it hit the theme more squarely. Oh well, Ain't that the way.

Sanguinite by Wheffle 2017-12-07T06:38:55Z

@incredible-ape Awesome, I just ported it like 5 minutes ago. Good timing! Glad to hear it's already being used!

Sanguinite by Wheffle 2017-12-07T07:19:54Z

@banan Thanks for the feedback! I agree, the game can get easy if you've got decent luck with the upgrade pickups. Unfortunately I didn't leave myself a lot of time for tuning. I also agree that the story had more untapped potential. Compo can be brutal though. Things to think about for next time!

Sanguinite by Wheffle 2017-12-11T01:30:34Z

Awesome feedback! Thanks everyone!

**@mrnyarlathotep** Yes! Solar Jetman! I played the crap out of that game as a kid and it has had a huge influence over most of the games I make. I loved the exploration and weird places that you were able to find in that game, and the sense that you were truly in an alien place.

**@honest-dan** I have gotten feedback more than once that the LD theme wasn't the overwhelming theme of the game. I do agree. In my head it seemed like a perfect fit, but after execution it kind of lost a little bit of that connection. Something to keep in mind next time!

**@pcmxmx**, **@serpentworks-games** Yeah, I tried to balance the music/sounds relative to each other, but I didn't think about balancing them with the OS or other applications. Next time!

**@burgee** Great to see you again and be feedback friends! Thanks for checking out my game! I loved what you guys did, seems to have taken off quite a bit! Well deserved.

**@manbearedgames** Thanks so much for checking it out on stream! It is both very informative and highly entertaining to watch streamers play your game. I think that's an incredible idea, and if I move forward with the game there's definitely a chance that'll end up a feature!

**@secretpocketcat** Thanks for checking it out! I agree that the game is generally a bit easy. I didn't leave a lot of time for balance testing, and I leaned toward making it easier because I was afraid of people hitting a difficulty wall before playing too much. Also the difficulty can vary a bit depending on your salvage luck. A true final boss would have been awesome too. All time management issues on my end! Thank you so much for the critiques and just taking the time to play!

**@arron-fowler** Thanks for playing! Out of curiosity, what made you hesitant about the game at first glance? I consider first impressions and presentation part of the challenge, and would love to improve in that area!

Sanguinite by Wheffle 2017-12-12T16:56:20Z

@flaterectomy That's very strange that you were missing the sound effects, and unfortunate because I feel audio adds a lot to a game. Is your browser up to date? Maybe try clearing the cache or trying a different browser? HTML5 can be a mysterious beast sometimes.

Sanguinite by Wheffle 2017-12-12T18:48:26Z

@flaterectomy Glad it mysteriously worked! I do think the game needs way more visual feedback for some stuff, specifically for hits landed on enemies. I'll definitely keep that in mind for next time.

Critter Clutter by Burgee 2017-12-07T21:39:15Z

Nice! Really simple, superbly executed, and engaging! The art, animation, and audio all jive together really well. Nothing stood out that really bothered me while I was playing. Nice job!

Too Many Chooks by Schu 2017-12-19T23:26:29Z

A good simple concept really well executed. My 5-year-old nephew really enjoyed it. Haha!

AdVasion by Vija02 2017-12-18T21:17:20Z

Pretty awesome idea! I think it's a little bit random that you control a dude that's running around dodging embedded ads, it could have worked just fine as a mouse point-and-click and have your computer crash when too many ads popped up, but it was fun and it also worked the way you did it. So nice job!

Bike taxi service by snarf2000 2017-12-19T23:42:24Z

Hilarious concept and pretty well executed. The controls were pretty smooth and I had fun! It's obviously not finished but that's ok, that's how it goes in a jam. Nice work!

BOOTY LOOTER! by MrLeePerry 2017-12-05T23:26:50Z

Ah, so good! The idea is so simple but you pulled it off with flying colors. The animation was all super smooth, the controls intuitive, and the audio... oh, the audio. #1 for audio in my opinion. Super glad I played this.

Bunnyfication by dekart 2017-12-06T06:03:02Z

Nice relaxing game. Took a little while to get the gist of it. Liked seeing all the different kinds of bunnies. So much art! I lost interest after a few minutes as the game didn't increase in engagement as it went on, but it was a nice break and I had fun!

How To War by machrom 2017-12-07T19:22:55Z

It was brave of you to go for a strategy game for your first time! It worked out, it's a nice and simple management game that fits the theme. Well done!

The only big suggestion I'd make is to not pause the game every time an event happens, or make it an option. That kind of messed up my groove sometimes.

Bosca Ceoil tip: If you pick a key *and* pick a chord in an arrangement, Bosca Ceoil will only let you place notes that fit within that chord. This means you can kind of splatter notes and they're guaranteed to sound half-decent, without any knowledge of music. Then you can play around to find out what you like.

How To War by machrom 2017-12-07T20:29:04Z

@machrom Hmmm  your're probably right, if the events rapid-fired without a pause to help you react to it, it could be hectic. Maybe they just happened a little too often then?

Fireball Dungeon by Andrew White 2017-12-20T23:50:16Z

Nice job! Simple design and really solid execution.

404: Space Not Found by Tom Schneider 2017-12-18T01:07:56Z

Really fun idea! Took a bit to understand what was going on, but I had a lot of fun with a few replays after I did. Awesome concept and pretty well executed, the polish level was pretty high.

Kittie Reaper: A Depressed Cat Tale by jfraser314 2017-12-07T20:37:41Z

Pretty awesome idea! I like the art and the theme was fun. One suggestion would be to keep the hit box just on the character's feet for a game with this perspective so that you can fit between buildings more intuitively. Other than that, was fun!

Shifting Dreamscape by Cruise Elroy 2017-12-05T21:00:18Z

Really cool and original. I love how the music and atmosphere is so sunny and joyous at the start, and it warps to get more and more "off". Really cool effect, extremely well executed. Gave me the feels. One of the best entries I've played so far.

Captain Capsize by Lance Krasniqi 2017-12-07T22:25:26Z

I really love the idea, but I can't seem to place items consistently, especially when I pick them up from the water or other boats. The cursor keeps losing altitude and I can't actually place them on my deck (they fall under the boat). That made most of the game very hard to play, and made gathering lots of loot impossible.

Love the art, sounds, and music though. And again, the concept is great.

Captain Capsize by Lance Krasniqi 2017-12-08T17:10:13Z

@JoramWolters Ah, yeah I probably didn't try that. I'll give that a shot! Thanks for responding!

Greedy Dungeon by daul 2017-12-07T07:59:10Z

I'm a sucker for dungeon games so I really enjoyed this. I wasn't able to get very far though. I got the gauntlet a few times, but the combat is really unforgiving. It was a little much that the enemies anticipated your location, had a lot of range, and attacked so quickly. Also the player's sword is really skinny, resulting in some frustrating misses.

The controls were good, but it sometimes felt clunky when you were trying to move and attack at the same time. It felt like NES Zelda but without the top-down view to help the player know which direction the sword will go. Not too bad though.

But the art and animation was spot-on. The music was great dungeon background music, and the audio was really good! The player's attack and pain grunts were perfect. Overall it was really well-polished, which is something to be said in itself for a jam game! Great job guys!

My Greedy Dog Steve by Honest Dan 2017-12-07T20:55:26Z

Really awesome concept. All the art was great, especially Steven himself. The pacing was a little slow for my taste (wish I could have made Lilly go a bit faster, maybe with one of the level-up options. The negative debuffs were a cool idea, although it got closer and closer to impossible to play the game (by design perhaps?) Overall I liked it, a nice little game!

MultiCaring by Kurupapuru 2017-12-07T08:20:42Z

I ended up with all my bunny heads living in two giant bath tubs with a bunch of food floating around in there with them. I'd throw the TV in there with them every now and then. That was awesome.

When I grabbed something to move it, it would grab everything the mouse touched as I held down the button as well, which made placement a little tricky. That's my only big gripe though. Fun idea, I enjoyed it.

Beer Pong Arcade by banan 2017-12-07T07:28:34Z

Fun little game! Super simple and hits the theme pretty well. It's pretty difficult, but I think that's OK. Feels like a game I'd sneak a few sessions of in at work while I'm bored. Would actually make a decent mobile game too I think.

Run Guys by arron-fowler 2017-12-12T03:48:58Z

Pretty cool little project! I like the premise, and the gameplay was straight-forward but entertaining. The controls are smooth and responsive, and the terrain done neatly. I'm still too much of a wuss to do 3D, so it's impressive to me that you did this all from scratch.

Refuse to Lose by ttftcuts 2017-12-21T00:56:27Z

This is hilarious. I love it! Runs a little slow on my laptop though, and the play window is too big for my screen (1366 x 768). My desktop is 1080p and most people are on 1080p, but don't forget the people who are still on 720p!

Runaway Magic by SerpentWorks Games 2017-12-07T22:46:07Z

This had me laughing out loud. Fantastic dialogue! I enjoyed my playthrough, although I feel a little bit bad about incinerating so many mushroom people. Oh well.

Money Making Miner by beanslasher 2017-12-06T06:12:01Z

Cool idea, I have a soft spot for digging games. It's rough around the edges but I see a lot of potential, and what's there is executed well. Keep it up!

LD40 - SirPumpy by SirPumpy 2017-12-27T02:20:48Z

I love the art style, and the music was pretty fitting. The graphics in general were eye-candy, really nice work on that. The basic gameplay was fun as well. I see some good potential in this! Keep it up!

Droplet by ManBeardGames 2017-12-12T03:40:58Z

Really nice simple well-polished game. It is very relaxing. The light/dark mechanic turned out to be a bit of a brain-teaser that I didn't expect, which is pretty cool. Nice work!

Robin Loot by zanzavar 2017-12-05T21:27:51Z

Extremely solid, very good execution of a simple idea. It was fun and held my attention all the way through. The levels weren't too difficult but had enough challenge to stay interesting. Nice job!

placeHolder by tetra 2017-12-05T20:47:30Z

Love the idea. It was fun and hilarious to play. It is quite difficult, and the foreground was confusing sometimes, but other than that it was very enjoyable! Very nice, especially for your first entry! Looking forward to seeing you back!

Greed Mania by pcmxms 2017-12-07T21:04:42Z

This is actually really fun in its simplicity. The controls are smooth and the enemies have a lot of variety. The audio is simple and fitting as well. Although, is the "kill all" supposed to, well, kill all the enemies? Didn't quite seem to do that for me. Maybe it wasn't supposed to.

But yeah, cool project! I spent quite a while playing this haha.

**Edit:** Ah, I realize the "kill all" is accompanied by an enemy sprite, and it kills all of that type. Makes sense!

Fiscal Dungeon by Tom Panton 2017-12-20T00:49:22Z

It's funny how I *know* that getting coins is bad in this game, but I can't help but get a tiny shot of endorphin when I get a coin regardless. It's hilarious how gaming conventions have wired our brains like that. Was an unexpectedly deep and interesting game!

Office Escape by Korpokrowa 2017-12-12T03:32:02Z

Ok so, I'm not going to lie. This made me laugh, like a lot. I choked on my drink. The theme was quite a stretch, and I wasn't sure what to do at first (maybe work on item selection feedback), but I had fun and I had a laugh so I'm happy!

Sally's Dark Adventure by Nia 2017-12-12T04:59:28Z

Immersive story! lol. Not sure if it was intentional or not, but eating cookies seemed to slow you down even though you needed them to fill your energy bar, which was a fun balancing act. Also the cars pulling out randomly was hilarious.

EA Escape by Visperal Games 2017-12-06T05:29:18Z

There are some bugs, and you get stuck if you pick up 5 employees, but it's hilarious. The best part is the pictures on the wall.s

OVERWHELM by randomnine 2017-12-07T07:02:56Z

The graphics are great. The controls feel nice. The idea is awesome, entering the "hive" was super cool. I liked how you could explore without any enemies until you got the first crystal.

My main gripe was that I could only ever get one crystal. The enemies are very twitchy and the one-hit kill is extremely unforgiving. Sometimes I'd get killed instantly as I moved to a new screen. Unfortunately that made most of the game unplayable. It might be better if you kept your crystals when you died or something.

Overall a really good entry with just a difficulty balancing issue. Wouldn't be too hard to fix I don't think. Nice job!

Tiny Bullets by joekickass 2017-12-07T07:14:34Z

I love how it's built like an old arena shooter and it's filled with a bunch of fluffy animals. The heads popping off was a nice touch too. Could have used more feedback on the shots. It might have also felt nicer to pick up ammo drops instead of getting the ammo for free on kill. Cool entry though, keep it up!

LD42 — Running out of space

Evercloud by SecondDimension 2018-08-25T16:36:07Z

The ambient of this game is amazing. The art and audio really tie the experience together. The sound of the rain was absolutely on-point with how it gets muffled when you're indoors. I did get confused about what to wire and where to wire it with the first wiring kit, but overall props on not having overly-convoluted adventure game puzzle solutions! Glad I played this, well done!

S.P.A.C.E – Stinky Purring Annoyed Cat Escape by limered 2018-08-18T18:24:40Z

Really original and funny idea! feels a little too difficult though, it was really difficult to eat and poop without people bugging you. The sound design was really good, definitely convincing! Nice entry!

Runnink out of Space by Aurel300 2018-08-14T03:12:38Z

This looks like an awesome game, but unfortunately I can't figure out how to drag and drop green words into my inventory. Is the release version bugged or am I doing something wrong?

But like seriously, this looks awesome and incredibly polished. I'd love to get further into it.

Runnink out of Space by Aurel300 2018-08-15T04:22:44Z

@Aurel300 Right, it works on my desktop! Was weird on my work laptop, who knows why.

Was super happy to play through this more. This is pretty incredible, I can't believe you guys did this in 72 hours! Really fantastic. It made me super nostalgic for old point-and-click adventures. My only complaint would be that it was a little *too* much like a 90s point-and-click sometimes; some of the puzzles were very obscure, and there was a lot of backtracking. It might have been nice for the blue bubbles to be given to the player as "abilities" that stayed with you so you wouldn't have to run between them to shape words so much. That might have been quite a rework though.

One of my favorites so far. Awesome entry!

Reso Crawler by ShockWire 2018-08-14T03:51:23Z

Ok, I admit that I didn't read the instructions, and when my window shrunk I was extremely confused and thought I was going crazy. Then it quickly became apparent that it was a game mechanic. Really clever! I love it! I found that fighting the jelly crabs was a little frustrating because they were able to jump so quickly. I also noticed that it looked like the dungeon layouts might have been procedural? If so, major kudos getting a procedural system working in a game jam!

Brightly-Wrapped Boxes by incobalt 2018-08-18T18:43:57Z

Wow, everyone sent boxed fireworks for this party! What a coincidence! Nice little entry, simple to play and understand and pretty fun to go a few rounds with. Well done!

Dark plague by geck0 2018-08-19T00:14:46Z

That was a lot of fun! I didn't really understand what activating the orbs actually did, but after it was obvious that the walls were closing in it also became obvious what the orbs power did. I had a lot of fun and played it for quite a while actually! Nice simple game, controls feel pretty good, nice job all around!

Polar Panic! At the Disco by PeachTreeOath 2018-08-23T03:30:23Z

That was way more fun than it should have been. Had me laughing every time a stack of polar bears would appear and fall over. Great work! I would have liked to see some kind of feedback when you clicked to make a wave, like, a wave. But that's a tiny nitpick. Awesome entry, had a ton of fun!

Tetrolled by TRASEVOL_DOG 2018-08-14T01:25:23Z

Pretty awesome. Love the boot-up intro. Great feedback with the audio and the screen shake. Pretty impressive for the amount of time you did it in!

Tetrolled by TRASEVOL_DOG 2018-08-15T20:35:58Z

Ah, learned about PICO-8 today! I guess the intro would fit *any* PICO-8 game. Ha!

Freezing Sky by Zeriver 2018-08-14T03:31:50Z

Seems like there might be something wrong with the link.

Freezing Sky by Zeriver 2018-08-18T18:16:53Z

Really interesting concept, the mood was set really well with the music and the setting. After I got the hang of the controls I had fun trying to manage everything. At first I thought it was too easy, but I soon realized the growing amount of resources it takes to dig and the oncoming freezes makes it very challenging to get deeper and deeper. Obviously a better in-game tutorial system would have been nice and maybe some better button feedback (except for the clock, that was very well-done), but ain't that the way with game jams. Good entry, really enjoyed it!

Organize Your Life by Samusoidal 2018-08-13T19:44:02Z

I do really love the art style. And the weird walking things out in the distance. Really gives it a cool mood. I'm getting good vibes from what's done, it's a shame you ran into so many issues! As they say though, ain't that the way.

Skipping Cats by Lovro Kalinovčić 2018-08-14T02:29:51Z

I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but I didn't expect this! Haha! Nice work on the puzzles, I was scratching my head a lot and feeling pretty good about figuring them out. Well done on that front. The rewind mechanic was pretty cool too. Did you guys do the music and sound effects too? It was really well done.

Clippy's Awakening by aevek 2018-08-14T02:58:51Z

Wow, this game is *really* polished! I was surprised over and over to discover more and more content. The abilities felt really good to use, there was great feedback. It was easy to understand how to play.

I think the final boss glitched out on me, they disappeared after getting hit a lot but it seemed like they were still there (also the game kept going). Movement started getting glitchy when I took a lot of damage (maybe a feature? haha). Also, it took a *massive* amount of damage to die, although killing myself was totally worth it to see the game over screen.

Again with the very well-executed player feedback: I loved the sound muffling effect when you were low on life... er, disk space. Details like this really made this game shine.

Nice work!

Clean Up by Turncoda 2018-08-14T03:30:39Z

Nice and simple game, I like it! I was a little confused at first when blocks started appearing out of nowhere, but I got the idea eventually. Not gonna lie though, I got completely stuck on level 7. Is it unbeatable or am I just dense?

Good execution on a simple idea!

Dear Leader's Diet Plan by Historymaker118 2018-08-14T02:10:08Z

Gave me a good laugh. Pretty original! I was a little confused at the puzzle mechanics though, I ended up just thrashing around a lot until it worked out. Had a good laugh though, nice entry.

Rampart by Jeremy Ryan 2018-08-14T04:19:00Z

Music and art is epic. The game is really well polished, with nice audio and screen zoom/shake feedback. It felt *good* to ram a bunch of rocks. I like it! My one tiny gripe is that you don't pick up milk when you charge through it. Well done, nice entry!

High Castle by Wheffle 2018-08-14T01:13:20Z

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone! It's super appreciated!

@madar-games Ah, missed opportunity to put a collar and a little pirate riding the snake dragons. That would have been sweet.

@max6333 As development went on I kept ramping up the amount of crumbling blocks so that it would impact the game more. I agree that it doesn't impact the game as much as it should.

@incobalt Right, I can see how it would be a nightmare trying to play this on a touchpad, definitely didn't think about that. And yes, I realized after the fact that nowhere in the game did I mention you could rotate pieces with Q and E. Whoops. If you play into it a few waves the island starts crumbling, which was my main attempt at the theme.

@belowparallel-ian In retrospect the game may have been a bit too busy mechanics-wise, so it unfortunately does take a bit to figure out. Glad you enjoyed it though!

@truc-e I've always been lousy at nailing difficulty curves in compo, it's one of my consistent weaknesses. Something I need to work on!

@bustosman One of my weaknesses is getting difficulty curves down right in compo. I always seem to have issues with it. Definitely something I need to improve. Some of the debris *does* fly over the islands, it's a 50/50 whether it's over or under. Maybe all of the debris should have been flying over it though.

High Castle by Wheffle 2018-08-14T19:31:40Z

@tigerj Hey thanks for picking it up on stream! Much appreciated, great feedback and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

High Castle by Wheffle 2018-08-15T00:37:43Z

@thecritterscove Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing! You can in fact rotate pieces, with the mouse wheel. Unfortunately it's only mentioned in-game through a message and was omitted from the (already info-dump) 'tutorial' screen before the game. An unfortunate result of leaving the UI and user experience stuff for last...

High Castle by Wheffle 2018-08-16T19:52:42Z

@zeriver Thanks for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it! I did notice some enclosure detection bugs, unfortunately they slipped through during development. I've also noticed that many people don't realize that corners count, which leads to a lot of confusion. Definitely a lot of polish that needs to be done, and quite a few lessons learned!

Champion Chowdown by Burgee 2018-08-14T02:40:51Z

This is awesome. The level of polish is really high, and the goals/mechanics were presented extremely clearly. I love it! One of my favorites so far!

Sky Runner by BelowParallel_Ian 2018-08-18T18:49:06Z

I absolutely loved the intro and the premise in general. It's ridiculous and simple. Very nice job on that. I think making a few small tweaks could bring the game to the next level, like letting you have more control over the jump based on how long you hold down spacebar, and maybe adding a lives system so that you don't die instantly the first time you hit a meteor.

The sound design was good and the music was on point, perfectly going along with a dude casually walking into space. Looks like this would be perfect on mobile as well!

Glad I found this, great entry!

SWORD1 by Lawrence 2018-08-13T21:05:21Z

Nice and simple, and very intuitive. Good polish. I like it! I like the meatboy-style die-and-try-again-fast style, it keeps things moving along. My only significant criticism is that the health bars are in a weird spot, but that's not a huge deal.

The Vacuum by DragonSlayer03 2018-08-14T01:21:12Z

Nice entry for a new dev! One suggestion I would make would be to make turning right and left more accessible on the keyboard. Maybe left and right arrow should turn, and some other keys should strafe. Or, better yet, maybe use mouse aiming!

Ouch! by Zachary Shah 2018-08-13T23:38:07Z

Nice simple game! The shade of green used was a little hard on my eyes, but that's the only substantial complaint I had. Works great with the theme. Nice entry!

L: An Interactive Mystery by Cercle 2018-08-15T05:14:51Z

Holy crap and a half. That was really powerful. I'm blown away that you guys were able to do this in 72 hours. The voice acting was really good, the gameplay was intuitive... the story was way amazing. Absolutely insane entry. Congrats!

Also... #teamcharmander

Echo by ManBeardGames 2018-08-14T03:41:19Z

Cool concept! *Very* nice tutorial! I wish I had planned better so that I could have made such a great tutorial, it really goes a long way. I was a little confused about why so few of the nodes were active at any given time, I had a hard time using my energy to push the walls back. But that might just be part of the challenge. The level of polish was high and I had fun!

Maze Crusher by Firesplash Entertainment 2018-08-13T23:56:14Z

Really fun concept. I could see how with more polish this could be a really sweet game. Some parts of the game seemed a little buggy, like some of the animations and the number of enemies that spawn. I have to say though, it's pretty satisfying to blow up a ton of guys at once.

Camp Snuggle by Scott Steffes 2018-08-14T04:10:57Z

I played this game way longer than I meant to. It is oddly creepy yet intriguing. It's like tetris with people. I can't think of any obvious criticisms... well done!

Flash Flush by BustosMan 2018-08-25T16:07:40Z

Awesome simple game! Played it for a lot longer than I thought I would. Honestly this could probably be iterated on quite a bit for a simple mobile game or something. My only suggestion would be to maybe make the water translucent so you could see what items are under it and plan better. Nice entry!

Zero G Hero by dave_troyer 2018-08-18T18:38:34Z

Awesome sound, art, and music! Really good platformer game all around! My only gripe is that there were a lot of "leap of faith" parts where you just had to have played that portion before and died in ordered to know where to go and where to not go. That made the game a bit difficult. I loved the facial expressions on the main character and the enemies, and the RV ship. Nice touches! Fantastic entry!

The City Of Forgotten Toys by dk5000p 2018-08-15T05:21:47Z

The greatest music that has ever graced my delicate ear drums. Thank you.

Had a great laugh, awesome entry. My suggestion would be to speed things up a little bit, make gravity a little higher and make the tennis balls fly a little faster.

I'm glad I found this. Made my day.

The City Of Forgotten Toys by dk5000p 2018-08-15T05:42:05Z

@dk5000p Hey, awesome to hear you're going to keep working on it! What I meant was to increase the speed of the jump as well as the force of gravity, so that the jumps are the same height and the game is pretty much the same but it runs faster and feels less floaty. That, along with making the tennis balls fly faster but probably shoot less often, might make the game feel a little sharper. But maybe not, it's just something that popped into my head while playing :)

RunnINN out of space by gamedevkng 2018-08-14T02:04:03Z

Really cool idea! I played for quite a while. It's sorta cathartic trying to fit everyone's gear in storage as efficiently as possible. One issue I ran into though was that I didn't notice any way to increase the time limit, which made purchasing more beds a poor choice after a certain point. I really liked the rock-paper-scissors mechanic which incentivised you to recruit a diverse group. I had a lot of fun, well done!

Mr. Shovel by yashmakesgames 2018-08-15T02:32:38Z

Nice little game! My only suggestion would be to make a button (or set a hotkey) for restarting the level without going back to the menu. If there was one, I couldn't seem to find it. But I loved the puzzles and I had fun with it!

Your Friend Compo by Ulcius 2018-08-25T16:18:02Z

Really cool idea! My suggestions would be to give more clues as to what is important for the user, and make the first few "stages" a lot easier to ease the player into the game. It took me a long time to beat the first stage, and the second one got a bit frustrating sometimes (for example, the user didn't seem like the type of person to like jazz music but deleting the jazz folder skyrocketed the irritation). Overall though the idea is incredibly awesome and the execution was very well done, especially for a game jam. Nice work!

Get Off My Boat, You! by Eric Kulbiej 2018-08-25T19:06:59Z

At first it wasn't clear to me that you get points by hitting people (and apparently you earn more by turning as well?). After I figured that out I went on a killing spree, rounding everyone up into a group and ramming through them. I may or may not have been ashamed of how satisfying that was. I liked the challenge of trying to form up groups in the best way to ram lots of people head-on and avoid stowaways. It definitely kept me hooked a lot longer than I thought I would be playing. It's a fun quirky game and I had a great time. Nice job!

Not Enough Space by Madar Games 2018-08-13T23:07:07Z

I, for one, thought the music was a masterpiece.

I love the dual-wielding, and how your guy rolls around. It has a nice charm. Some audio feedback or screen kick could add weight to the gun shots. The inventory system tied with the theme is a cool idea, but I would always die way sooner than my inventory could ever fill up. Overall enjoyed it, nice little entry!

Greenie Goes Right by quicklyer 2018-08-14T02:14:49Z

Pretty refreshing to play such a simple yet addicting game. Took a bit to wrap my head around the fact that you couldn't move left, kept killing myself. Duh, Greenie goes RIGHT, not left! Enjoyed it a lot, well done! This would really work great on mobile!

Slay The Slime - Too Much Loot by Virtu 2018-08-19T03:23:42Z

Really cool graphics and the music creates a nice ambient. I also really like the simplicity of the combat system. I'd like there to be some very easy fights at the beginning so that you can get used to the system and learn what stuff is effective against what slimes. As it stands, you die very quickly without much of a chance to learn. Cool concept though and it was fun to play! Also a very nice level of polish, which is always impressive in a game jam. Great work!

Big Chickies by Alex Brull 2018-08-18T19:44:56Z

Really nice art, really nice audio, seems like a polished game, especially for LD! I think the only gripe I had was that the controls were a bit wonky sometimes- it took me a while to figure out how to drop down from platforms, and I'd rather have had a mouse cursor in the game window so that aiming wasn't such a guessing game (I also kept clicking out onto my second monitor accidentally). Really solid concept though and well-executed. I had a lot of fun!

Never Gonna Give Doggo Up by Rafiki 2018-08-14T03:57:29Z

Love the art! Is it hand-drawn? I kinda got stuck on my owner in the corner of the screen and couldn't get away, so I guess I "won", so collisions were a bit glitchy. Fun idea though!

LD45 — Start with nothing

wallpunch by Aurel300 2019-10-10T02:17:19Z

I punched through a wall! The level generation is really cool, and I *love* how the music changes when you go into a new room. That first moment when I broke out of the starter chamber was really awesome. The controls were pretty good but a little frustrating sometimes. I wasn't able to dive-punch when I thought I should be able to, and it seemed like my jump height wasn't consistent.

The actual attack seemed a little weak-sauce and hard to use against enemies. A larger hit box for the punch and maybe an shock-wave coming out of the punch would have made combat feel a lot better. I ended up running through rooms and ignoring monsters most of the time because it was just too tedious to fight them, even after a few damage upgrades.

The movements and animations were great, the ledge grab was especially awesome. The design of the monsters themselves was great as well, they were unique and they behaved more or less how you'd expect as a player. I have to mention it again... the room generation and basic concept was awesome. Really nice entry!

Survivor Slots by PeachTreeOath 2019-10-09T05:29:38Z

Really cool idea, I literally have never seen something like this before. I think because of that it was a little off-putting at the beginning as I was a bit confused, but the pre-level with 999 attempts mostly remedied that. I got the hang of it pretty quickly, and before long I was min-maxing and strategizing and pretty immersed in that way, which is really impressive for how mechanically simple the game is. Honestly it reminds me a lot of yhatzee, which is a game I love.

Sometimes the arrows tripped me up on which direction they went (like, if they were "pushing" the wheel, it changes the expected direction), and I kind of wish there was some kind of highlighter for when you hovered over a castaway that indicated where they were in the icon stack. Obviously these are small QoL things, so no biggie. I did like how easy it was to tell what color represented a castaway just from the art.

It was really enjoyable and I genuinely had fun! I can see how this could easily be iterated on and expanded as well. Nice work!

Asset Stream by aevek 2019-10-10T02:36:03Z

Well, I had a ton of fun! The random obstacle pop-in was fun to watch, the weapons were pretty satisfying to use and enemies were satisfying to kill. I love me some first-person wall-running as well. I have a sole gripe: the wonky momentum! I launched myself off the cliff so many times because of that, and it made it difficult to pull off precise jumps. Maybe it was just a bug on my machine or something. Regardless, it looks awesome, sounded awesome, and it was super fun to play. Nice take on the theme as well. Nice work!

Spam Space To Exist by Wheffle 2019-10-14T00:00:24Z

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Very much appreciated!

@bongard22 Good seeing you around too, one of my favorite things about LD is getting to start recognizing some regulars :)

TidePool by Rebecca Harrison 2019-10-14T00:14:29Z

Awesome charming game! The style is excellent, I really love it. The climbing mechanics kind of reminding me of Grow Home, one of my favorite games. I like the simplicity of the ideas as well. There was a bit of physics jank, but that's hard to avoid in a physics-based 3D game made during a game jam. The slight music change when you go underwater is a nice touch, although it could use a little synchronizing with the above-water music. I had a lot of fun, really nice entry!

The Learning Drone v4.5 by kukiric 2019-10-10T03:48:10Z

I enjoyed it! Good concept and a nice little puzzle game. It was a little thin on the theme, but that's ok. I actually got stuck at one point though, where all the switches and doors interacted with each other. Because of the battery mechanic, there wasn't a lot of opportunity to play with the switches and find out what different combinations did. I ran out of battery experimenting a lot and that was frustrating. I'd suggest either making it more clear which switches and doors interacted ahead of time, or just keeping it more simple. I liked how the music progressed, that was really nice, and the art style fit the game really well and was clear. Happy I found this, good entry!

The Learning Drone v4.5 by kukiric 2019-10-10T04:32:09Z

@roque Ah, my bad for not reading the game page thoroughly! I'll have to go back and try it. Thanks for the clarification! And yeah, when you explain it, I see where y'all were headed with the theme, that makes sense.

Robo-Fort by geoff.nagy 2019-10-09T05:55:31Z

Nice simple game! The game generally plays really smooth and I actually really enjoy the controls. I felt like I was driving a forklift, and I started getting the hang of it and pushing multiple boxes around. I think the difficulty should ramp up a little faster to force a loss eventually, as I found it was a bit too easy. Difficulty tuning is an art, it's hard to peg in 48 hours. I wasn't exactly sure how the theme fit in though, I suppose you don't start with any defenses set up.

The graphics were really nice to look at, the effects were excellent. It felt extremely polished. I enjoyed the music for the most part. A second "calm" track that played in the fort-building phase would have added a lot to the impact of the awesome intense song, but hey it's a game jam and it's impressive that you have audio at all in a compo!

Overall a nice entry!

Gun Fury by Gehad 2019-10-10T03:09:40Z

Cool little entry. The concept is solid! With more content this could really take off. I think my only nitpick is that the death particles looked like bullets, so it was confusing sometimes. Might have liked the option to drop my gun (was there one that I didn't know about?) The melee animation was pretty cool, it was satisfying to barrel into multiple enemies. Nice job, keep it up!

Cell by SirRed 2019-10-10T04:49:29Z

Nice tie-in with the theme! I like the style as well, it sets a fun tone with the music and art. The progressive music is a nice touch. I think a bit of extra audio could have added a nice "punch" to the game, like a small wing flap noise or a splat for when your fish bullets (?) hit something. Honestly I wasn't too put off by the flying mechanic, rather I think the level design was just a bit too brutal right after you get the wings and for the flying portions in general. I didn't have too much of a problem until the second spike corridor with the target at the end. With a little more space I think it would have been fine. Nice entry, it was really enjoyable!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Oogy's Saviour by dingotime 2020-04-25T06:04:05Z

Because I'm bad at reading, I thought you were supposed to tractor beam the energy and bring it to Oogy, so Oogy almost died. But then I realized I was dumb, and Oogy grew big and strong. It was a lot of fun! The audio was pretty excellent (the music fade from calm to battle was a nice touch). I think some explosion particles and background would have added a lot to the game, but hey, jams are hard and those are fair game for triage when you're running low on time. Nice work, I enjoyed playing this!

Feed Your Monster by bemmu 2020-04-25T20:25:58Z

I really like this, what a great idea! I like how he grows, and his tentacles are awesome. I wish there was a way to permanently destroy unwanted stuff because it gets pretty crowded, but it was fun!

Keep the princess... Alive by Vivoubos 2020-04-23T03:15:49Z

Combat mechanics could use some work, but I enjoyed the art. However, the pit with spikes you can't see at the bottom? You broke the platformer-game-dev law, sir.

Ayoooooo!

Torcher by Evergreen Games 2020-04-24T04:29:33Z

That was extremely well-done. I like that the "check points" are built-in to the game, if you know what I mean. The puzzles weren't overly difficult but weren't too easy either. Great entry, I really don't have any real complaints!

Turto! Virtual Pet by deathray 2020-04-24T22:18:22Z

Why does he want to eat his poop so badly?! You know what, that's not totally unrealistic for some dogs I've had...

Could use some mechanics tweaking and some audio, but other than that it's really fun to watch your turto grow!

Useless Machines Inc. by herniewise 2020-04-24T18:49:14Z

Very creepy an atmospheric. I love it! My only problem was that for the life of me I could not find a way to fill the hunger bar!

Blightstone by Nimphious 2020-04-23T02:29:21Z

Looked promising! I've been there, not every jam goes well. Good luck in the future!

Hungry Monster by JOrbits 2020-04-22T19:45:48Z

Strangely satisfying to play. You were on a great track, too bad you got sick! Thanks for releasing it anyway and allowing me a few minutes of odd catharsis.

Food Chuck by PeachTreeOath 2020-04-23T02:26:09Z

Not gonna lie, that was awesome. I want to be a post-apocalyptic icecream man when I grow up. It took me a while to realize I had to hit the *targets* to deliver items, but once I figured that out and stopped spamming stuff and making crazy people giggle and explode, I was able to do pretty well. Not that making stuff explode wasn't fun too.

Pig For Slaughter by PotatoAndTaco 2020-04-23T02:36:59Z

Not much to it, kinda fun seeing the pig change forms. Also, hey, I will leave the game area if I want!

Morose by 100th_Coin 2020-04-23T03:10:43Z

Well that was an acid trip. In a good way. The art was great, and you managed to create a really creepy atmosphere where I wasn't sure what was going to happen next. I can tell the combat portion of the game was rushed and under-utilized, and the story was probably cut short. It seemed ambitious, and scoping is hard!

I didn't see a ton of the theme come out in the game, but again you might have had an overarching story related to the theme that never came to fruition. I also found a game-breaking bug near the end and had to play it through once more: when Tilde asks you to grow a white flower, I thought I'd be cheeky (and out of curiosity) and I made the thing that Miggs had shown me earlier which I never got to see. The game did not seem to like that.

At any rate, I enjoyed what there was, and it definitely made an impression with the atmosphere and mood, which was really top-notch.

**Edit:** I just have to say that I realized after the fact that this was a compo and not a jam, and that's really impressive. 48 hours is a crucible!

- L I F E G R O W T H - by Samusoidal 2020-04-21T21:34:33Z

You departed from your usual hand-drawn graphics! The pixel art works perfect for this project though. This is a fantastic entry, gave me feels and everything. Took me a while to find out you can use the mouse wheel, might have been simpler to let you click on items to use, but other than that it was a crazy good experience. Very well done!

Go With The Flow by Baby Dino Herd 2020-04-25T05:55:02Z

This is a really unique idea, and it was pretty fun. My only gripe is that sometimes it seemed like two or more of the lyric choices would have fit, but only one was correct and you just had to learn by trial and error. But maybe that's just me because I'm too white, lol. Pretty impressive though, lots of fun!

Whalestrom by aevek 2020-04-22T08:13:45Z

Really mind-blowing visuals and audio for a game jam! The whale sounds were awesome, the targeting and laser sounds... I know it's a small thing, but the audio feedback on the main weapon losing charge or whatever was on point and very satisfying. Seems like y'all didn't get around to implementing some stuff (or I experienced some bugs), my whale never lost health, and I couldn't seem to purchase the regen upgrade. But wow, really crazy how much y'all were able to accomplish with this.

Icy Mountain Hot Potato by Turncoda 2020-04-22T08:22:55Z

Man this game is tough! I feel like it's a bit unintuitive to gain points by hitting the ice, my brain kept defaulting to "climb higher!" instead. At any rate, I played this longer than I'd like to admit, it's pretty addicting. Good execution, well done!

Flower Picker by yellowlime 2020-04-25T20:51:07Z

Wasn't expecting that punch in the feels at the end.

Omiga Daycare by Wheffle 2020-04-20T18:06:46Z

Thanks for the feedback guys! As a person who has tested positive for ADHD, I think I accidentally made an ad-hoc ADHD test, and honestly it stressed me out so much to play test my own game :grimacing:

@sndr I was actually planning on making different end-game messages based on how well you did, but it ended up being one of those things that slipped through the cracks!

@kaleido That's a *way* higher score than I ever got, congrats! You're a multitasking god(ess)!

@pincushion If I had more time to iterate, franchising would have added a whole new level to the game

Omiga Daycare by Wheffle 2020-04-22T19:30:14Z

Thanks again everyone!

@nimphious I actually wrote off the virtual pet idea at first as well and stayed up pretty late the first night working on another idea. I woke up the next day, realized what I had started on was *way* out of scope, and changed gears. Sometimes it's nice to do something really simple and be able to polish it up decently. Also, I'm actually surprised I haven't seen *that* many tomagochi knock-offs!

@turncoda Great feedback! I actually spent a good hour or so trying to get keychain physics to work, then realized it wasn't a core feature and moved on. The first passes left me with a chain that shook itself apart and launched itself out of the screen. Never got back to it unfortunately. Step counters, accelerometers, annoyed animations (frowny faces and shaking their head at food when they aren't hungry perhaps?) are all *excellent* ideas I wish I had thought of, I might have been able to squeeze at least one or two of those features in.

Omiga Daycare by Wheffle 2020-04-25T07:18:35Z

@peachtreeoath Thanks for trying it out! If you got to the red monster, that was the last one I made, so you've seen them all! Wishing I had thrown in just one more weird as a small reward for those that got *really* deep.

@emmanuel-gaillot Thanks for playing! It does seem to get hectic very quickly, I find it interesting that at some point adding one more Omiga makes your brain go "nope, too many" and it just falls apart! Limiting the Omigas to taking turns needing something, or letting the player do multiple things at once, would kind of defeated the purpose of a multi-tasking game don't you think? I think an "outsource" mechanic might have been cool where you paid X dollars to push an Omiga onto a a hired employee, but I only thought about that after the jam unfortunately.

Thanks again for all the feedback! I have been going down the list and playing all of y'alls games!

Seeking Power by gustavo.christino 2020-04-24T18:32:31Z

I like that you slow down when you're low on power, that's pretty neat. I think the slowdown should be progressive instead of instant, though, and be a little more forgiving. It makes it a little frustrating when enemies move so much faster. Also, are the 'O' blocks supposed to charge you? They seem to actually make you discharge faster. Neat game design and idea overall.

Fussy Kitty by cjgammon 2020-04-25T06:25:23Z

Some feedback on button presses would be nice, I kept pressing the wrong round button at first before I figured out the other one is what made things happen. Also wasn't always sure what to do, or if what I did had an effect. It was pretty brave to make an Arduboy game for LD though, so that's really cool. Seems like a challenge!

F E E D by Delightfullymad 2020-04-20T16:25:16Z

I have a real soft spot for minimalist games, and this one right off the bat scratches that itch. The setting matches the style extremely well, kudos on that!

On the simulation side of things, I like the concept but the mechanics might need a little fine-tuning. One of my quests was to gain 24 notoriety, and just having like 8 or 9 notoriety made my cult explode with cultists and chew through all my money faster than I could move them around. The time survival quests seem really tough as well, as well before 400 seconds in the eldritch power bar lowers too quickly for you to survive even while constantly feeding cultists. Who knows, maybe it's meant as a moral-of-the-story, you can't win by worshiping an eldritch god :p

Really enjoy it overall though, it's hard to get system mechanics tweaked and working perfectly during a game jam. Cool idea, good execution, awesome style, played it for a while!

Last Beer by Nilodree 2020-04-24T02:17:12Z

Not bad! Seems really polished and tight, that's awesome. It's pretty fun too, I like how all these dudes chasing you are clones and that reflects in the loss screen. Drinking the beer and making stuff go faster periodically is a nice touch too. It only seems very tenuously related to the theme, I think that's my only gripe. Overall, nice work though!

The Call of the Unicore by sndr 2020-04-21T18:42:43Z

Awesome graphics, sounds, and gameplay! I really like how you can stockpile resources and hand them out as needed. I had some issues knowing when enemies were getting close and where to defend, maybe some directional indicators or 2D audio could help with that, maybe a warning that a portal is activating. Cool fun game, played it for a while!

Hive Mind by whycardboard 2020-04-20T18:54:34Z

Love the graphics and the idea. Satisfying animations and style! Pretty simple and fun, had a good time. My only complaint was that if you have a bee selected and you clicked on another, it de-selected the first be instead of immediately selecting the second bee. Also, would have been cool to have a survival timer to see how long you lived! Regardless, I think it's a solid entry and enjoyed it!

My Friend Phil by Conroy 2020-04-24T01:58:32Z

The idea with keeping the fish alive is super cool, I love the graphics, the music is nice. But the controls! Woooweeee can't say I wasn't getting a bit salty. The enemies move way too snappy for the floaty unresponsive controls to feel nice to use. It's hard to get it right for a jam though! Great entry, good work!

Daisy Danger by Reef 2020-04-24T04:41:16Z

I like the idea of the "health" of the flower shown as pedals. The difficulty seems to ramp up really fast all the sudden, but I think that's ok. Simple but fun!

Mut-ant by ketura 2020-04-25T21:08:12Z

I have carpal tunnel now, but it's a price worth paying to create the ultimate killing machine. Long live the queen.

Anatomic Mayhem by henrycgs 2020-04-24T02:08:08Z

As someone who also made a stressful multitasking game... this was so stressful! But in a good way, it was super fun. And kinda creepy in a weird way. The music and the sound effects work really well together to create an atmosphere. I kinda wish each part was introduced one at a time so I had time to figure out what to do, but that's a minor complaint. Really nice entry, and super unique!

FL0W3R by oda 2020-04-21T20:51:54Z

Super chill and interesting simulation. Not a lot of gameplay, but I enjoyed it. I kinda messed with it while working, so that was nice. One tiny gripe was that the in-game key for watering looked like an 'o', and I was too dense to look at the instructions, so that had me scratching my head for a bit. Nice project though!

Edit: I also just wanted to say, whatever method you used for stem and root growth was impressive.

Game Jam Brain by PurpledArtFrog 2020-04-23T02:05:15Z

Not a bad tower defense game, creatively meta with the theme. It was a little easy, but I understand difficulty curves are hard in a game jam. I always seem to bunk it up myself.

FTL ON by rolferm 2020-04-24T18:25:22Z

Might be good to up the time it takes to run out of fuel, it's very punishing. Also maybe add some kind of minimap to make it easier to navigate. I like the simple graphics.

My inners are ours by AguaHervida 2020-04-24T04:48:17Z

Mmm sausage links. Turns out to be a pretty tough game. I like the graphics, they seem very polished.

STEM by Kaleido 2020-04-21T19:01:25Z

I actually really like this idea. It was kind of confusing at first because it's a little abstract, but it makes sense once you get going. It's kind of like a dungeon crawler and base management game combined. I think getting proteins was a bit of a slow process before you got your liver production up and running, so maybe some free-floating proteins in the darkness could help that a bit. Obviously there are a lot of directions you could take a game like this, adding more cell types and maybe some obstacles or enemies, and defense cells. Lots of possibilities, thinking about it really gets my brain juices flowing! Nice work!

Buddy Rope by mbc 2020-04-21T03:55:34Z

Cool concept. The controls are innovative, but could use a little bit more work I think. The big guy doesn't change direction very easily when you're hopping in a line, and doesn't quite slide into place on narrow passages very well. But that might be part of the intentional challenge. The sounds were simple but pretty perfect, especially the "chonk" of the big guy landing a hop. Combined with the smoke puffs, it was very satisfying. I was also mashing my keyboard way harder than I needed to, I "felt" the rope pulling. Quite an awesome entry!

Harvey Rideswell Wants a Puppy by Pincushion 2020-04-21T19:08:25Z

Hold the turn button down and Harvy will fly away! Is E.T. in his basket secretly? Pretty fun little idea, just gotta tighten those controls a bit. Nice work though, can tell effort was put into the project!

Keep chicks alive! by Sleeping Panda Games 2020-04-24T22:10:19Z

At first I thought "hey, no audio, that's ok!" and then the music started up when I got to the egg, and it was so exciting, and I really appreciated that! It's the small things sometimes. My sole complaint is that moving right was "D" but moving left was "Q"... what the heck? I really enjoyed this though, great entry!

Xenov: Ascension by Alxertion 2020-04-28T19:30:46Z

Love the voxel art, really cool looking city! Pretty impressive! Nice audio to jam to, good gameplay! I like the farm passive income, and also soon discovered that farms make great walls. Sacrifices must be made! Difficulty curve could use some work, pretty sure I could survive forever, but honestly this is a great entry!

PixelAnt by Lucas Gonzalez 2020-04-23T20:36:57Z

Seems like the ants would get stuck a lot and just sit there. Pretty fun idea though, to just keep a simple ant farm alive.

Terri-Fried by PolyMars 2020-04-24T01:48:17Z

Pretty addicting gameplay! The controls seemed a little bit wonky, like the vector didn't match where my mouse was when I was dragging, but you might have been shooting for touch support or something. Not a huge deal overall. I like how you can bounce off of the walls, that adds a lot of options. Nice work!

Don't taste the lava by mira 2020-04-25T20:41:50Z

This is a legitimately good puzzle game, well done! My only suggestion would be to maybe show *all* of the pieces you get at the beginning of each level, maybe across the top, to help plan a little better so it's not pure trial-and-error. As someone who isn't that great at coming up with puzzles, I was really impressed! Loved protecting little green poo guy from the lava!

Feast of blood by DanilShekarev 2020-04-21T20:28:23Z

I really love this idea. I'm a huge fan of stealth games and survival games and free-form games. This definitely scratches all those itches. The controls are a bit rough, initiating blood sucking was difficult to do sometimes, and picking up bodies and interaction wasn't always responsive. It was also hard to tell I was taking damage. Overall, especially for a jam, this is an excellent entry!

Keep Town Alive by peto184 2020-04-21T04:01:20Z

Very creepy vibe, which is pretty cool. Love the idea of going around hosing everything down with lysol. I think there could be a bit more player feedback, like I kind of had a vague idea what the dots represented but I wasn't too sure. I think there was a warning that the web version might have UI elements missing, so I might have missed something because of that. Good entry!

Where's That WIFI ?! by Findus 2020-04-22T08:48:55Z

Nice animation on the ostrich, and not a bad concept. I think it could use a bit more premise, and a more discrete goal. Maybe Herr Strauss is trying to send a time-sensitive message that will only send when you have full bars, and you have to find the wi-fi to get it sent before you run out of time. That way there's a win/loss case for each session or level, which adds satisfaction.

Bullets & Babies by David Bohan 2020-04-25T20:47:16Z

Pretty fun straight-forward game. Not bad! The cutscene words appeared a little too slowly at the beginning, but that's a very minor complaint. Nice work!

Chicky's Delivery Service by Jelle Vermandere 2020-04-24T19:35:18Z

Pretty fun! I like the face on the egg, and as weird as it sounds, the noise of the egg hitting a surface is really satisfying. I did get stuck once where the egg was jammed between two stages and I couldn't move either stage, and some portions were pretty brutal, but it was a lot of fun! Very well executed game, nice work!

Square Loves Circle! by meelo 2020-04-25T05:37:43Z

Honestly, one of the best experiences I have had so far this jam. I don't have a lot of suggestions or complaints really, the mechanics were simple and fun and the difficulty curve was pretty darn good (quite the feat for a compo!), the little story was awesome, the whole experience was really satisfying. Great entry, kudos!

Save It With Fire!!! by Jason Woerner 2020-04-23T03:30:41Z

I actually really like the concept, sort of a potion shop type of a deal. I think the lab was a little too big, and it was really confusing to keep track of what barrel contained what when most of it was off-screen (especially at first!). A ramping system where only relevant barrels exist at the beginning would have been nice, and a smaller lab. There's a lot going on, lots of instructions, and a "hidden tutorial" in this way would have helped a ton! I think the character avatar could have been nixed altogether and replaced by a mouse drag-and-drop system just to simplify things a bit further as well.

But those are just my thoughts as I was playing. Like I said, I like the concept, especially the idea of mixing different things to get a final product that the alien needs. That was super cool. Nice work!

Feed The Fire by Nuanda79 2020-04-22T19:13:28Z

The different colored gas can mechanic adds a lot to the game, I like it. The audio was on-point as well, especially the sound of cranking the flashlight. Nice work!

Pyrokidiac by Emmanuel Gaillot 2020-04-24T19:26:44Z

Interesting design decision to make it so you basically can't lose without screwing up hahaha. So every time I die, I know I only have me to blame. Love the old Game and Watch look and audio. Nice entry!

Spiders and Sports and Plane Crashes by Seothen 2020-04-21T03:45:46Z

I turn into a turkey dinner too sometimes.

Cheeky game, I loved it. I think the idea of using the soccer ball as a weapon was awesome but could have been expanded a bit. Solid entry though, compelling story and everything!

Egg's Eggsoddus by Nothingness 2020-04-22T22:30:34Z

This is a really great game! I was entertained the whole way through... it's funny how by just making the object egg-shaped it gives the game a totally different feel. The level design was on-point, I think the difficulty ramp was really well done. Very nice entry, kudos to all of you! One of my absolute favorites so far!

Dog Feeder by plantleaf 2020-04-21T03:30:46Z

Pretty cheeky game, it was fun. It might have been nice to test the controls before the balls started rolling each level, just as a nice convenience. Also, the music should probably just play through the whole game without restarting. Other than that, not too bad :)

Virtual Fish Tank by Jay Berlin 2020-04-20T16:53:41Z

Actually quite a soothing game to play, especially with the background noise. I like the simple system mechanics, and I can see how this could be iterated upon. Something like a survival timer might have been nice just to be able to see how long your fish have survived so far. Good entry, had fun checking it out :)

Why did you throw the baby? by airwaffle 2020-04-21T03:35:57Z

I mean I don't know what I was expecting, but I didn't realize I was going to drop babies today. This legitimately made me laugh, thank you.

CRAZ by RexTGun 2020-04-25T06:14:13Z

Pretty cool. Feels like some kind of abstract hitman game. I do wish it kept track of kills, or how long you've been alive, or something to gauge how well you did during your run. Also, the level was a bit cramped I think. Maybe parts of the world could have small tunnels like that, but not the whole thing. Just some thoughts though, I had a lot of fun playing.

Seeko Studios - PROJECT: L1L1-3S by OQLQO 2020-04-23T17:06:11Z

I'm really impressed with the production quality! The audio, graphics, and input feedback all feel really good. Nice work!

Worst Party Ever by AnarchoApathy 2020-04-20T16:36:07Z

Nice twist on the theme. I really enjoyed it. I love the phone-as-an-interface concept for changing the music and calling friends. The one thing I was confused about was the music hints: I couldn't really tell which songs counted as "club music" or "pop" based on the titles. The NPC behavior was pretty convincing though, great job on that! Nice little game!

Also, character customization! Yay!

BUBBLE BOY by NEKORUMA 2020-04-22T07:48:55Z

Tomagochi projects unite! I really love the love you put into the actual console art, it looks great. The space around each pixel was a great touch to give it that early electronics era feel.

The Dark Cave by Tom Stephenson 2020-04-22T08:37:53Z

The portion with the spider was pretty intense, it worked with the sound mechanic really well. I don't know if the light bugs were supposed to follow me the whole way, but at some point they got stuck. Also is a shame actual audio didn't make it into the game. The graphics were gorgeous though and I had a good experience!

Cute Noms by Qyr 2020-04-21T03:20:32Z

This is one of the best looking and sounding 3D jam games I have ever played. Super kudos, very well done! The simple premise is also fun, and obviously the simplicity allowed y'all to polish the crap out of this game. Awesome! Sometimes the noms would get stuck on trees trying to follow me, and I also got lost outside the level somehow at one point, but very minor gripes. Awesome job!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deep in Wraithwood Forest by HitchH1k3r 2021-05-15T01:21:07Z

It's rough around the edges, but the core is really solid and it was a really cool experience.

Sometimes, particularly in the western portion, I found myself stuck in a "the way to win is not to move" situation with the wraiths. I wish there was a "pass" button. It also took me a long time to figure out that I could kill wraiths, and without that knowledge the western forest seemed apparently impossible. The movement seemed a bit sticky too, and using the mouse felt unresponsive. On the web version at least.

Besides all of that, it was a *lot* of fun. I loved exploring around in the darkness and finding campfires. The block pushing mechanic was basic but highly effective here. The only part that I felt the block puzzles got a little out of control were in the eastern water areas, if you died in the middle of some of those or messed up block placement then it was sometimes a pain to set everything back up. The audio seriously enhanced the experience, so really nice job on that! I'm just a sucker for hex tile games as well, so definitely bonus points there (hexagons are bestagons).

Although there were some hitches and issues, some x-factor about the concept and execution hooked me and had me happily playing through the whole thing. You guys made something really cool, I think this is one of the top games I've played this LD.

improbability engine by Aurel300 2021-04-27T02:54:54Z

I mean... these puzzles are no joke. I had to throw in the towel at the rubix cube thing. I will probably come back to it later... you managed to polish the crap out of this and it looks and feels fantastic. Really impressive, you are a legend.

Depth Orb by cogcomp 2021-04-27T22:26:58Z

Nice! Reminded me of early 2000s games with the 3D-rendered 2D sprites. The mechanics were simple and fun, and all self-explanatory. The boss guy that fires a bunch of bullets in the air made Firefox vomit and crash, but it worked a little smoother on Chrome.

I appreciate your list of tools, I'm always interested to know how others go about doing the jam. I'm going to check some of this out...

Gurk's Tower by monkeybit29 2021-04-30T01:24:13Z

Simple and fun. I liked how the final boss' weak point was its one eye, which were the enemies you had been fighting. Could have been cool to have more enemies, but it was fun as it was. Very interesting choice to use Wolfram for your music, had a cool effect.

The Little Boring Drill by deathray 2021-04-30T00:43:21Z

Actually a pretty fun concept. Needs some polishing and stuff, but as it stands it's still weirdly addicting.

Celestial Corruption by godsboss 2021-04-26T22:21:40Z

The story and the enemy designs really steal the show. Really phenomenal job on both! I mean, the detail on the ships was insane. The game could use a little 'juice', like some bullet impact particles and explosions. Obviously you have to cut things when you're doing compo. The story was simple but fun, the ending screen was great. Nice entry!

Boombox by auxC 2021-05-04T04:30:00Z

Really cool idea, polished, great feedback and satisfying audio and visuals. It's a simple idea taken to an extreme, and it works really well! Man, not sure what else to say, I don't have any major gripes... it was just fun. Really well done, one of the best entries I have played so far.

One-Butt Alien Corridor by PeachTreeOath 2021-04-27T03:10:38Z

I like strategic, deliberate games like this. This is a super unique idea and I really enjoyed it! I would have liked to be able to select marines by right clicking on them or something, but other than that there wasn't anything obvious that bugged me. Maybe marines could learn to turn a *little* faster, but that's a balance decision. Cool entry, really memorable.

Abyssonaut by thomas-olsson 2021-04-26T23:32:41Z

That was excellent. The level of polish was pretty unreal for a jam game. The mechanics were super intuitive and the atmosphere was really good. After grabbing the egg, I definitely felt tingly with the weird spike things rising up from the bottom. My only complaint would probably be the controls. Admittedly I didn't use a gamepad which it seems the game was designed for, but having all the controls on the left hand was awkward. But seriously, great entry! I'm baffled how you guys were able to get art, audio, and gameplay up to that level in (less than) 72 hours.

Diving Ball by sonicpixelation 2021-04-30T01:15:16Z

The controls are smooth and the goal is simple. Was pretty fun and a little addicting! The art is really nice too, really crisp. I did realize that the depth meter was more of a timer, as when you pushed yourself up it didn't reverse. I tried to cheese it by floating as long as I could but the ball wasn't very easy to keep control of that way, so my evil plans were mostly foiled. Nice work, it's a good entry! The background audio really sells that you are under water, something I couldn't figure out how to do in my compo. How did you do it?

Dwarf Deep by aevek 2021-04-26T16:02:28Z

I love the graphics, they are clean, crisp, and detailed. Good ambient music and spot-on sound effects. I have a soft spot for digging games... they are just fun. The air system is a bit brutal though, it was a grind to get the air tank upgrade and that didn't seem to improve it much. That's just a matter of game balance/tweaking though. I enjoyed it, good entry!

Dome Romantik by Rongo Matane 2021-04-29T16:08:13Z

That was pretty amazing. I thought it was clever how you upgrade aspects of your UI at the beginning, which teaches the player what parts of the UI mean piecemeal instead of dumping a complicated UI on the player at once. The art and the audio make for a juicy experience that feels satisfying. The controls were simple and intuitive.

I kept thinking there might be flying enemies any minute due to the fact that the dome laser is, well, on a dome. More enemy types would have been cool, but it's a jam game and you only have so much time. And honestly there was a ton of content in there with all the different resources and their purposes. It was really an excellent experience, definitely one of my favorites from this jam.

Date Night by Togis 2021-04-27T03:35:58Z

Not sure why my boss wanted 6 coffees in a row, but I won't ask! The tasks are weirdly satisfying to do, so great job on that. The audio is really crisp and the visuals are satisfying. Sometimes the pathfinding would mess up when I clicked more than once on a task, and I couldn't figure out the email task (it said to press enter at the end but nothing seemed to work). Overall though, was a pretty cool little game. I especially liked the view of the boss from the printer. Cool entry!

Date Night by Togis 2021-04-27T16:15:31Z

@togis Oh, that makes sense. I'll have to do another playthrough!

@anchorlight :laughing:

@burchyn I felt the difficulty was alright, it was hard to make it all the way to 3 minutes which feels about right. But in my experience with LD, difficulty level is the hardest thing to reconcile with all types of players.

Jupiter II by Wheffle 2021-04-26T03:37:16Z

@aevek I had coincidentally been working recently on another project that involved water effects. Naturally it was all fresh in my brain and I had convenient code to reference, so I thought I might as well stick it in there. Thanks for checking the game out!

Jupiter II by Wheffle 2021-04-27T04:24:53Z

@shawn-moore Oh man, that's unfortunate that the music wasn't working for you. WebGL can be mysterious and a pain in the butt. If you are up to it and you're on Windows, I would highly suggest trying the downloadable Windows version. The audio (*especially* the music) is honestly really important for the experience.

Jupiter II by Wheffle 2021-04-27T05:55:25Z

@peachtreeoath I actually used simplex noise to make the tunnel. Lots of simplex noise, the theme of my game is basically simplex noise. I use one noise generator for the center line of the tunnel, and both walls use their own generators to give them their own bumpiness. At certain points the tunnel width is decreased (to increase the difficulty) which causes those ledges to appear in the screenshot. Somewhat unceremonious, but I thought it still looked alright.

I also used simplex noise in the surface water shape, and for the flashlight flicker at low power... I kind of went ham with simplex noise. Godot has a built-in class that handles it and it's amazing.

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Jupiter II by Wheffle 2021-04-27T20:53:02Z

@secret-magic-404 Yep, the eels may have turned out a little too intense. There's a way to deal with them, but you have to scan them or discover it on accident to figure it out, which may not have been the best design decision. I think tuning it at this point would be disingenuous to the spirit of the jam, but it's definitely something I'd look at if I had more time.

I did fix the situation where they could literally shove you into the wall and get you trapped forever, so that (theoretically) shouldn't be happening anymore.

Thanks for the feedback, very appreciated.

Jupiter II by Wheffle 2021-04-28T02:16:00Z

@shawn-moore I greatly appreciate you going back and trying it with the executable to hear to audio, I know everyone's busy playing and rating games and that took time out of your day.

Jupiter II by Wheffle 2021-04-28T02:34:10Z

@t-c Ah, audio crackling is unfortunate. Were you on the web version? I have had some reports that for some people the audio has issues on WebGL. Super annoying. Oh, and you're the only one that has mentioned the secret ending so far, so congrats! Haha.

@devmerlin @kraemahz The levels and enemy placement are all procedural, which is a huge time-saver but also causes some nasty corner-cases when you aren't careful. Which is what looked like happened to you. Sorry about that, I should have taken measures to make sure enemies were spread out more, or perhaps used predefined seeds that were tested and vetted. Ah well, wouldn't be a game jam without someone getting an unintended double eel to the face I guess.

Also, thanks everyone for trying out the game! I'm making my way through the list to reciprocate! Y'all got some awesome stuff.

Jupiter II by Wheffle 2021-04-28T22:56:25Z

@deathray I was actually planning on having a cable attached that would break at some point, causing the signal loss and kicking off the "spooky" part of the game. I just never found the time to implement a cable that moved realistically enough. Since it would be mostly aesthetic, I guess it fell through the cracks. But you're right, without the cable it's a pretty irresponsible science mission :P

Jupiter II by Wheffle 2021-05-09T20:24:52Z

@markopolodev If you're interested, this 1 minute tutorial is where I started with making lasers in Godot. From there you can experiment and tweak. Feel free to poke at the source as well!

Jupiter II by Wheffle 2021-05-15T01:37:33Z

@honey-pony Thanks for the detailed feedback! I originally planned on having the scanner reports show on a different panel, but the UI was already getting crowded and I was afraid it would be annoying for two dialogue boxes to potentially pop up at the same time. As far as the hard mode ending goes, I admit I just really wanted to put that meme in somehow but didn't want to replace the normal ending, and literally added hard mode last-minute specifically for that purpose. I can't say I'm proud.

Dungeoneer by notApollogising 2021-05-18T16:42:14Z

The art is simple but it's clear and has character. I really like it. The gameplay is satisfying, good tried-and-true formula. It would have been nice if it was a bit more clear when you were damaged, like a bit of a screen shake or red flare effect on the viewport. I'm not sure why a carrot made you shoot faster, but it was really satisfying to machine-gun down enemies near the end. Pretty good jam entry, definitely had a good time trying this out!

I didn't run into any bugs, thankfully, but just a quick tip in case no one has mentioned this yet: try using some kind of source control for your code for the jam, and everything else you do! That way you can fall back to any version of your game because it keeps a record of every change, you could have fixed those bugs on the jam version very easily. If you've never used source control like Git before it can seem imposing, but if you get graphic tools to help you (like Github Desktop or SourceTree) they basically do all the work! Github and Bitbucket are free and good places to start.

Orange Diver: The Great Drown by Prostone 2021-04-27T22:46:23Z

The level of art detail is pretty amazing. That combined with the music created a great ambient. Babysitting the diver on a rope was a nice twist, definitely keeps you busy. When it gets really dark it's hard to see powerups in time to snag them, it might have been nice to be able to see powerups through the darkness. I suppose that is a design decision though. Good entry, had fun!

DeepSea by Chensu 2021-04-26T16:16:38Z

The graphics, particularly on the sub, look really nice. I don't mess with 3D much, so I'm always impressed with compo games that look pretty. The gameplay is simple but serviceable. Good job!

Stabalot by bw_devel 2021-04-26T22:09:15Z

Very unique idea, I really like it. I think the difficulty compounds a bit too fast, as more blocks are added each round *in addition to* the sword speeding up. That's a bit of a nitpick though. I can see how the mechanics could be expanded with more time, like adding a minigame for blocking or perhaps partial damage for partial penetrations. I really enjoyed it, love seeing really unique games!

Autumn Hike by Brusi 2021-05-03T23:42:52Z

This is *definitely* one of my favorites this jam. I loved the art, the music was simple but fantastic and I loved how it got a bit more deranged the further "down" you went. The take on the theme was pretty original and tied in perfectly with the game, the execution was fantastic. It's short and there's not a ton of gameplay or content, but it was an amazing experience. Awesome job!

Also, just want to give a shoutout to the dithering effect. It looks really great haha.

MINOTOAD by MarkoPoloDev 2021-05-11T02:10:55Z

I love the art and sound, it's really juicy. I also really appreciate all the little stuff that you managed to squeeze in, like the slowdown effect when you get hit, the arrow pointing to the baddies, and the screen transitions. Lots of polish!

I did unfortunately experience the bug where a hoplite (love the name, lol) got off the screen, I think that would be something that is fair to fix post-jam in my opinion. Besides that, I kinda wished there was some kind of circle ground indicator for where the hoplites would land, and my only other gripe would be that using WASD with E for the attack is awkward (although I ended up using the arrow keys because of that).

Those issues are pretty nitpicky though, this is a really smooth and fun experience. Nice work!

Where's grandpa? by Holy 2021-04-30T01:08:01Z

I thought I could escape my destiny, but I guess not :P The puzzles were pretty good for a game jam. I had the most trouble in the first room, some of the puzzle controls were not very intuitive for me. The safe combination lock should have either worked like a normal combination or just been a code that you punched in, I spent a long time trying to figure out how I was supposed to enter the code. The tile slide puzzle had me scratching my head for a long time as well because I didn't realize you had to click and drag the gray bar down to the bottom. It also might have been easier if the tangram pieces rotated 45 degrees at a time instead of smoothly. Besides those hitches, everything else went well and it was fun. I'm terrible at making puzzle games, so you have my respect. Nice entry!

Chthonic Brilliance by cassowary 2021-04-26T16:57:20Z

This is a great example of simple mechanics with great execution. The slime animations were spot-on. I am not a puzzle game maker, I'm always impressed with level design in these types of games. Some of the levels had me scratching my head for a bit, but none of theme brick-walled me. Really nice balance. My only complaint would be that the game only just barely scratches the theme. Good work, I happily played through all the levels!

Dreamer's Depths by Kraemahz 2021-04-29T00:35:21Z

I liked the premise and the dash-jumps were super fun. Sometimes while you were walking normally you kinda left the ground on slopes, which caused me to miss a few jumps. Some of the sound effects made me poop my pants, I think just toning the volume down on them would have fixed that. I appreciate the dialogue and story, that effort brought a lot to the game. Also the portals into the next world looked super dope. The boss fight was simple but pretty satisfying as well. I enjoyed it quite a bit, nice work.

Also, good to see another Godot user. :fist:

The Depths of Science by Trusty 2021-04-27T00:24:56Z

I am very happy to see that the models were made from scratch. Lots of creativity! The high kick attack from the pink guy had me laughing. There's something goofy yet creepy about the scientist models, it kinda look like they're having a bad hair day but it's kinda freaky. I like the keycard + elevator level model, goes well with the jam theme. I got stuck on the level where you had to kill the giant eye to get the key card, I wasn't aware it was killable and I wandered around for a bit. Other than that it was pretty smooth sailing. Fun game!

Spermy the Whale Goes Deeper and Deeper by Flying Dog Fish 2021-04-30T00:24:20Z

Dang, this is deceptively hard. The art is really charming and I appreciate that you did it on a whiteboard... that is just amazing.

Chuck Yeager's Jet Janitor by Shawn Moore 2021-04-27T04:49:05Z

Took me a while to "get" it and then man it was satisfying diving into the blue stuff. The abject chaos was pretty fun. It's nice to play a game like this, the world needs more.

Snake on a Sphere by MachWerx 2021-05-02T23:52:10Z

Nice simple game. At first I wondered where the challenge was, but when the world started shrinking it became apparent. The last few layers are pretty challenging. Super fun take on a snake game! Also, kudos on coding the expandable smooth snake body, I imagine that isn't a trivial task and I can't imagine off the top of my head how I'd do that.

There, Again by Honey Pony 2021-05-15T01:32:07Z

Very cool snappy platformer. The alternating character and environment was a nice touch that kept the gameplay and music fresh. There's a *lot* of content here too for a jam, well done on that. The controls were easy to learn and felt responsive, except for one weird issue I ran into: I apparently couldn't carry things and jump while running to the right, although I could do it while running to the left. Might have been some weird input issue with my cheap keyboard, I don't know, but it made some of the platforming pretty difficult in specific sections. Whatever the case, really nice work. It's rare to see a game so polished and with so much content, *and for compo*. Really nice work!

Deeplift by CaptAndrey 2021-05-03T03:56:56Z

I don't think I've seen a game like this before, pretty original. The audio was pretty satisfying too. A few more mechanics wouldn't hurt, but that's the nature of the jam. I respect the guts it takes to do something experimental.

Aquanaut by EvilScotsman 2021-04-26T23:51:06Z

I didn't expect to get accosted by a giant eel right off the bat. So, basically boss fights all the way down, I dig that a lot. The music was good, and I appreciate the muffled "oof" sound from inside your helmet when you get hit. It was simple, intense, and fun. Really cool entry!

Tunnel Rats by GeneralSturgeon 2021-04-26T22:02:11Z

I've never seen a cockpit shooter in this pseudo-3D art style. I really like it, it looks fantastic. The music is also nice and punchy. Bonus points for having a tutorial, that doesn't happen often in compo. It could have used some more enemy types and maybe a couple more mechanics, but you've got a really solid concept and executed it really well. Nice work!

River, Carry Me Away by Noire 2021-04-29T21:17:38Z

The art and especially the music were top-tier. The music synced really well with the images. The objects in the water was a nice touch to add some interactiveness. There could have been a bit more interaction, but I respect the design decision to go super all-in with the emotional story experience, which definitely delivered. Very beautiful, well done.

Nadiria by ArguablyArugula 2021-04-29T21:05:06Z

I love me some pixel art and the dash movement feels really nice. I think the environments are a bit too open though, it's quite disorienting. It might be better to have a smaller, more succinct design, maybe keep either the top and bottom or left and right walls visible most of the time. There were a lot of dead sections where you just kind of swam with nothing around which might have been good to cut.

I *very* much appreciate the checkpoint system, but at least one of them was a really long dead-zone swim away from a very nasty section (I'm looking at you, ya dang purple barrier with spikes right on the other side!) so that added a lot of redundant swimming for me.

The music was really good and helped set a cool mood (did you make the music yourself?), and it was pretty enjoyable. I also liked the enemy designs, they were quite fun. Good entry and keep it up!

Drills and Gadgets by RNGames 2021-04-28T02:28:59Z

This is really excellent. Super simple but strategic, easy to understand, good challenge, and diverse content. Even the changing soil as you go deeper adds a lot of juice to the game. I didn't feel the need to move side-to-side much, so maybe there could have been something that incentivized that more. I also got too many drill upgrades too quickly on one run and never had time to clear obstacles and enemies, but that's just a strategic blunder on my part. Well done, I played this quite a bit!

Hellevator by baconn00 2021-04-28T19:12:50Z

This game is *very* addicting, congratulations on that. I kept dying and I kept playing... I'll probably play some more later. I want to see Lucifer. lol. The art and audio jive together well to create a creepy atmosphere. I'm not sure why but pixel art has such a great capacity to be creepy and claustrophobic to me.

I'm not sure I have any major complaints, except perhaps there should be a health bar so that one mistake doesn't kill you instantly. That's more of a design decision though, so it could go either way. The game does seem pretty difficult, but maybe I'm just bad haha. Superb entry, seriously well done.

Blackout by Frasse 2021-04-29T20:11:47Z

This was *really* good. You guys did a banging job. I usually have problems with point-and-clicks with getting stuck, but that wasn't the case this time. At least not for long. The music and art were really excellent. Especially the music. Fantastic job!

Fare Well by alanxoc3 2021-05-03T04:10:13Z

Pretty fun take on the downwell style. I like the premise. I also like how there is no health bar or anything, enemies just knock you out of your bucket. The music was oddly enjoyable and creepy.

WordGeddon by DevMerlin 2021-04-29T00:25:31Z

I'm a bit of a sucker for typing games, but I have learned that I suck at scramble games. I could only beat it on easy. The idea is simple and it was a lot of fun! I liked the detailed lose screen, that was a nice touch. I think my main suggestion would be to give longer words some sort of compounding score instead of linear. I'm surprised how well the scramble works though, you can make smaller words out of the letters of almost any 8-letter word. Pretty crazy.

Deep Purple by BridgeOnAStick 2021-04-27T16:31:21Z

I liked it. The puzzle mechanics were straight-forward but allowed for some interesting levels. The music was pretty nice too. There are a lot of details here that give the game more juice, like being able to crush yourself, blocks launching you upwards, and the screenshake when moving blocks. One thing I wondered was whether you were supposed to have to get all the coins in each level. I noticed you could skip them. It was fun, not too easy and not too hard, cool atmosphere. Nice work!

ROOTS by TheGreenWorm 2021-04-28T19:51:41Z

This might be my favorite game out of the entries I've tried so far. Really excellent job. It was super chill, it was nice that the worst thing that could happen was that you just didn't earn that many flowers on a particular run, so progression was steady. The central loop was addicting, and the upgrade system was a great companion to that. I don't really know what else to say, it was just a fantastic experience.

I'm 14 and by Krac3r 2021-04-26T21:42:42Z

What an incredible experience  Keep it up man, congrats on the submission!

Unto the Eight by Threeli 2021-04-29T20:24:16Z

Pretty interesting and unique game. I thought the light system was a bit annoying when combined with the cold system, since you needed to explore to find wormplants and as time went on you could see less and less. It was hard to focus on the deliveries. Maybe your light should last a bit longer, I'm not sure. The art and sound were good, I am a sucker for pixel art and I enjoyed the bizarre-ness of the world and exploring it with all the goofy characters. Seems like the project has a lot of heart, and it shows. Nice work!

Deep Sleep by Link270 2021-04-28T02:44:32Z

Putting together a psychological game for a game jam is ambitious, I'm really impressed. There were some rough edges, game jam stuff and all that, but the core was there. Very cool, gave me some feels. Respect.

HELL deep is your love? by Villanelle 2021-04-30T21:59:47Z

Love the NES style art and music. Pretty brutal platformer, I died a lot  That's not a horrible thing. *Maybe* the death boundaries could have been a little more forgiving, there were a few "leap of faith" moments that forced you to memorize the level. That might be by design! Anyhow, it was really polished and pretty fun and challenging. Good work!

Derbys F#ckin Pissed by sdata 2021-04-29T20:34:57Z

Simple yet pretty satisfying. The art/animation for Derby was pretty funny and livened the game up a ton. The battery powerup was a bit underwhelming as it would run out before I could use it to dig very much. Maybe it should last longer or last for a set number of digs. I really enjoyed that you took the time to write in a story and draw cutscenes, I know that is quite a time investment. I think it paid off, I was f**kin pissed too, it got me pumped to find that douche guy in his weirdo house buried in sand. Cool entry, nice work!

DUNGEON SMASHER by goodwincek 2021-04-27T16:45:21Z

I can't say that wasn't satisfying. Sometimes all you need is to super fly and smash bricks.

Get Some Foogin Sleep! by Simayen 2021-05-02T03:31:09Z

This game is bullsh**, who has 9 hours to sleep? :stuck_out_tongue:

I love how fast everything gets when you're in the REM zone. At first it seems totally non-doable, but you can kinda fall into jive and go pretty far if you concentrate. I played this for longer than I'd like to admit. Well done. The music was also pretty ballin too, did you do the music yourself?

CHROMAHOLIC by Secret Magic 404 2021-04-27T22:35:44Z

The style is awesome, the ambient is awesome... I was just confused about how to play. I think I *kinda* started understanding that you needed to keep getting glowing orbs and take side passages, but I'm still not exactly sure what the heck was going on. The hallway ends that dropped you down somewhere I think were the most confusing parts. But it was a super unique and cool experience. Like I said, the style is amazing, and I honestly prefer being dropped into a game with no instructions and intuiting my way through it. If you can get that to work, that's the ideal.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

A duck on ice by jk5000 2022-04-06T05:07:05Z

I was *very* excited to learn there were voice lines for all the deaths at every point. This feature single-handedly makes this one of the greatest games ever made, even if the story is very, very sad.

Last Minute On Earth by Wheffle 2022-04-04T21:16:40Z

@wren-erickson You actually get the full minute added on to your score when you go through a portal whether you used the whole minute or not. I totally agree that waiting around to inflate your score would be 100% super lame and realized that during play testing! Probably not the best solution, and it was not communicated to the player at all

Last Minute On Earth by Wheffle 2022-04-11T01:09:27Z

Thanks for everyone's feedback so far! Really grateful you guys took the time!

@jimbly @hmightypirate There actually is a short period of invincibility (because I was tired of getting spawn killed while play testing  ) but I was crunching the game out in such a short period of time I failed to communicate a few mechanics to the player, including that one. Seems like you guys might have caught on though!

Last Minute On Earth by Wheffle 2022-04-21T21:26:15Z

Thanks everyone for play testing and rating! I actually had a bout in the hospital in the middle of the play testing period, but I somehow made it to 20 ratings anyway because you guys were awesome.

On Company Time by Bongard22 2022-04-06T04:59:05Z

Guys I'm not sure it's legal to secretly film me at work and make a video game about it...

The production quality is ridiculously high here. I'm not sure how you guys throw together such detailed environments so fast during a jam!

I was a little confused at first, the power point is a bit of an information dump. But I got the gist and the gameplay was intuitive enough to where I figured out what was going on pretty quickly (not before missing a work task though). Second playthrough I was much more optimized. The buzz words thrown around after the minigames are the perfect cherry on top.

I have to say though... anyone who poops several times within a few minutes and has to be careful not to pass out each time might need to get that checked out

Extremely Exteme Sports by kuviman 2022-04-04T20:16:31Z

I'm super impressed with multiplayer LD jam games. I played it with a Twitch group and it was crazy fun. Intuitive mechanics, fun art style, emotes... what else could you ask out of 48 hours of development? Awesome job!

If you try hard enough, you can win. by Rxbbie 2022-04-04T06:33:52Z

I love the graphics style, it's clear and appealing. The gunplay is fun as well, it's satisfying to get upgrades stacked and feel more powerful. Others have mentioned some wonkiness with diagonal movement, I experienced a little bit of that. Really fun and simple game though, nice work!

Volcano by ABRDs 2022-04-04T22:44:37Z

Even if it's a little rough around the edges (quite alright for a compo entry!), the foundation here is really great! The eyes on the volcano are just perfect. Awesome premise as well. You could very easily elaborate on this!

Immune System "Engineer" - Can you Delay the Inevitable Skin Breach? by Aarimous 2022-04-06T05:15:16Z

Pretty cool puzzle game! I think the written tutorial at the beginning of the game is a bit of an information dump-- the puzzle is simple enough to figure out while you're playing. The music syncing up with cell spawning was a really nice touch. The graphics were simple and understandable, and the puzzle is very intuitive yet fun! Nice entry!

Race Fighter by redsti 2022-04-04T19:51:09Z

I like the style and the idea, and it's a ton of fun even though it's simple! I think my one suggestion would be to implement something that makes going fast more optimal. I think right now it's most optimal to go slowly and clean out the track when you have a chance, which kinda makes it not a race. Maybe there could be a larger score bonus for completing a lap that diminishes over time? Anyway, just a thought. Great entry, I played it longer than I'd like to admit.

Cold and Alone by David York 2022-04-06T05:52:57Z

This really hit the spot for me. I love this art style, I love space games with themes of loneliness and elements grounded in realism, and I love the exploration-building gameplay loop. The daily journal-type screens were insanely effective at immersing me. Even without audio this game gave me the feels.

As others have already stated, once the content runs out you seem to end up with a huge stash of batteries, so your inevitable death is very, *very* delayed. So batteries could have been a lot more scarce, or the "winter" could ramp up more exponentially as you started to reach the end to kill you off more quickly. Maybe there could even be something weird you'd find on the far outskirts with a fully upgraded rover that would end the game for you, in an unknown-fate sort of way. Maybe there is and I just missed it!

Obviously this is a compo and you've stuffed so much content into it in 48 hours, but as others have said, even just a few beeps and boops for the menu and rover interactions would have gone a long way. But you obviously put those hours into the art, design, writing, and polish, and it sure does show.

I think the fact that it seems to making a lot of people thirst for more content (including me) is a sign of a fantastic idea and well-executed prototype. If a full version of this game ended up on Steam or on mobile, I would be there throwing money at it.

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Unlucky Town by tanis 2022-10-08T05:33:23Z

I like the idea, but it didn't seem like I had a lot of strategic options (unless I was missing something). I really like simple games though, I think it has a lot of potential.

Things Happen by yetanother 2022-10-07T02:58:00Z

Took me a few tries but I finally made it to 50! The little squares are very bouncy, made it challenging. It was pretty fulfilling to find a good strategy. The music and sound effects were chill, I really enjoyed my time playing. Nice entry!

That Time My Dog Got Space Hiccups by nanolotl 2022-10-08T05:12:30Z

I think the idea is good, but maybe the puzzles need to be simpler if the timer is only going to be 10 seconds, or have less spawn points to start with. It was hard to keep track of what was going on, and for some of the puzzles you had to start right away to have time to reach everything. I like the simple graphics though, and it was fun figuring a few things out. Cool entry!

Cursed world of Hex by denvil 2022-10-05T16:31:32Z

Simple but effective mechanics. It can get a bit addicting chasing scores. The graphic style is really unique, I think it really pushes the experience to the next level. Well done!

Missdemanor by alaah 2022-10-05T17:26:35Z

Seemed like an odd concept at first, but I started really liking it as I played. I got stuck for a while because I didn't realize you could zap the candle through the little window... I am not a smart man. Besides that the puzzles were challenging but doable within a few tries. I enjoyed that you could hang on to ledges with your chin. The atmosphere was great, I really liked the character art and voice overs-- especially impressive for a compo. Super cool entry, really innovative mechanic!

DiscoTech by mechanicallife 2022-10-07T02:23:28Z

This is really cool. I got so distracted by jamming out that I would kill myself  Super cool idea, played it for quite a while just vibing. Really unique, well done!

Exorcist Patrol by PeachTreeOath 2022-10-06T06:13:09Z

Pretty cool idea! It's almost like a Rube Goldburg ghost busting game. It's such a unique idea I'm not even sure what feedback to give, as I have never really played anything like it. The graphics were great and I had a lot of fun. Nice work!

Escape the.. something by ThaProfesional 2022-10-06T04:50:05Z

Cool idea, but this game is *hard*. It's hard to tell, but it feels like there might be an issue where your position isn't consistent during a flip? Maybe I'm just bad though. Love the art!

Type Train by aevek 2022-10-06T02:49:47Z

First of all I want to say that this game looks and feels amazing! The style, art, music, everything comes off as extremely polished and professional. Sensational job on that. I did have a few minor gripes about the gameplay.

I wish there was an easier way to swap between cars, as using the number keys took my hand off home position and made it awkward to quickly type for the tasks. I also think there was a bit of an awareness problem, I found myself confused sometimes where new tasks were appearing (I think they lit up at the top of the screen briefly, but I would miss it?) I'm not sure what the best solution would be, maybe having the enter key just loop through the cars or let you type for tasks while zoomed out? Maybe this is all just because my ADHD has been really bad lately and I'm just bonkers.

I liked the balancing act of choosing more difficult cars for more stars, and being able to hire workers to fill certain jobs. And honestly, I *do* love me some typing game. I haven't played one yet this LD, so I was very happy to find you guys had made one! Again, I can't stress enough how damn good this game looks and feels. If I bought a game off the shelf and was greeted with this, I wouldn't have batted an eye. Wonderful job, well done!

Stellar Sauce by Wheffle 2022-10-03T20:47:22Z

@alaah This was my first time making a side-scroller, so I definitely have room to improve. I have noticed the HTML5 version has some issues. The red orb shouldn't move up and down infinitely, so if it was doing that without any progress then there was an issue :/

Stellar Sauce by Wheffle 2022-10-04T05:56:11Z

@aevek Thanks for the feedback! I've never actually done a proper 2D platformer before. Tuning the movement is harder than I thought it would be! I did realize shooting offscreen was a pretty effective cheese, but I didn't manage my time well this jam and wasn't able to polish some of the rough edges. As usual, the "test weapon" ended up being the only weapon. I think some clever level design would have mitigated that, like adding more obstacles and verticality.

Stellar Sauce by Wheffle 2022-10-04T21:38:09Z

@bredera @emmatw @fis Thanks for playing guys, and the feedback! The movement is definitely janked up and I think that holds the game back quite a bit, but I learned a ton about platformer movement for next time. The choice to go with a genre I had never developed before was risky and I paid the price :P Again, thanks!

Stellar Sauce by Wheffle 2022-10-07T01:59:15Z

@soultie thanks for playing! But it's a shame you couldn't enjoy the audio, a large part of the effort was put into that and I feel it adds a lot overall!

@peachtreeoath wow, that is a good find! I didn't play a lot of Mega Man beyond the first couple, but I'm sure I played other platformers as a kid that had similar mechanics that maybe subconsciously guided my ideas. I feel you on the 'trying new stuff for LD' struggle, sometimes I just can't help it since it's a good opportunity to actually *finish* something. Having a bank of play-tested working prototypes for new ideas later on is super nice! Speaking of doing something different, I feel I need to gush a little more over how good your team's entry was.

Stellar Sauce by Wheffle 2022-10-07T02:26:09Z

@mcnuttys Oh no, I was hoping no one would notice  That was on the backlog and ended up getting sacrificed

Night of the Spook by dxk2294 2022-10-06T05:55:15Z

Using the beam weapon was *very* satisfying, I had a lot of fun blasting huge lines of enemies. I think the items were a bit lackluster, so I would have liked to see them get some love to be more useful. Also, greedily, I would have liked some crazier upgrades for the beam to make it more ridiculous just because it was soooo satisfying to use. The core concept is great and I honestly played this for a really long time, ended up actually winning! Awesome entry!

Bake-o-mancer by Fis 2022-10-06T04:33:35Z

I like the concept of a real-time card game. I do wish I could see what the cards did after I chose them, that would be my main piece of feedback. Also, only getting 3 cards (by default) every 10 seconds seemed a little low, not many decisions to make per second. The enemy move timers could use some tuning, but I understand balancing for a game jam is always a crap shoot. The music was awesome, and I really liked the graphics, the experience was a lot of fun! Nice work!

[WebGL/HTML5] Music Demon by leorid 2022-10-05T18:10:19Z

Even after eating half the audience, they still love me. Fun mechanics and fun puzzles! The theme and style of the game was top notch, the music was great and got me pumped. It was short, but it was executed nearly flawlessly-- didn't get frustrated or find any weird quirks. Awesome!

Baseball of Max Stress by snesgaard 2022-10-10T03:30:48Z

Weirdly addictive game! Tiny nitpick: would be nice to have your lives shown bigger or more centralized, since your eyes need to be focused the whole time. But I guess it doesn't really matter. The art and animations were satisfying. 10/10 voicework.

Phase Snake by lootgrounds 2022-10-08T05:51:38Z

This is a great simple idea. The controls are smooth and the 10 second swap make it chill while you are feeding. I do wonder if having enemies active while feeding would make it more fun and challenging, but the phase shifting works well with the theme.

Ten Snailconds by JakobTheQuizGuy 2022-10-07T02:48:21Z

Really polished visuals and audio! Felt really good to play, I liked the bubble bobble snail idea. The different instructions on what to do got me a few times as I wasn't paying attention, so that was fun and kept things interesting for a while. After a lot of rounds it got repetitive, but the amount of content at that level of polish was impressive for 48 hours!

Tormenting Idol by Cameron Borthwick 2022-10-07T02:38:08Z

Nice simple idea. The dude was genuinely creepy. Could use a few more features, but a good entry nonetheless.

Drum Dance Showdown by cyberfrank 2022-10-10T18:54:23Z

This is a *fantastic* idea! I was vibing and having tons of fun. My one complaint is that one mistake sent all the way back to the start. A couple times My ADHD took over and I zoned out with the music and forgot to check the "up next" icon, then wasn't quick enough to spot the difference. Then I was bummed out to have to start over. But that is a minor gripe, this was a great entry! Well done!

Iron Sword Tournament by Jackaljk 2022-10-08T05:27:03Z

I couldn't get past the black fighter, but I was pretty addicted to trying. This is a great reflex fighting game, I really dig it! The audio is honestly 5/5 as well. My only gripe is that the "lights out" status is kinda bs

The Method Equator by AdamPhoebe 2022-10-05T16:28:54Z

These really sucked me in, even after watching it being played on stream. It's honestly super creepy playing it alone. I was still a little confused about the mechanics, but I seemed to be able to work through it anyway. The style is excellent, it really sets the stage for your brain to fill in the gaps and make it spooky. Excellent work, one of the best I've seen so far!

10 Seconds Till Death by DaylonWilkins 2022-10-08T05:41:35Z

I like the enemy shapes. The game heats up really fast, it is quite challenging. Needs a bit more polish, but it has potential!

Resonance by Mediflect 2022-10-07T01:42:31Z

The way the bell synced with the music was incredibly cool. The music + visuals + story created a really immersive experience. I even liked the little electric guitar slide sound the switches made. Super well put-together. The time stopping ability was incredibly cool too. I was confused for a tiny bit because i didn't realize you could choose a spawn point by clicking on it, but other than that it was fun and smooth. I suppose the puzzles could have been a little more challenging, but that's a very small nitpick. I enjoyed every minute of it, great entry! Really great experience!

Void Timeline by HexStart 2022-10-05T18:16:09Z

Honestly, just freaking superb. I don't know how yall were able to come up with those mechanics during a game jam and execute on it so well. I would probably play a full version of this for hundreds of hours. Evokes the same dopamine hit for me as games like Slay the Spire and FTL.

L.A.R.K. by Redneb 2022-10-10T20:49:07Z

I like the concept, and it was pretty well executed, especially for your first entry! Adding a failure state (like, say, you lose if too many LARKs die or freeze) would be a cool addition. Well done though!

Bad Thoughts by House Trap Jay 2022-10-05T16:43:44Z

The art, music, and style effectively evoke that feeling of playing a creepy, weird, claustrophobic 2000s mindf*ck game. It's honestly incredible, really sucked me in. The difficulty is a bit random between playthroughs, sometimes you'd just get stomped. I always have a hard time tuning difficulty for a game jam. Extremely well done, though, I really enjoyed this!

Gravity Blocks by Soultie 2022-10-07T04:34:44Z

The graphics and mechanics are simple but they add up to a fun experience. I like the details, like the squishiness of the player square, the warning flashes for blocks that are about to become spikes, and the way the particles change directions when gravity flips. Maybe some kind of high score table would add a bit of replayability? Cool entry! Great work!

CART CRASHERS by screenshake 2022-10-06T05:14:39Z

Sloshedbucklers by Wheffle 2023-10-09T18:12:27Z

@deadjolly Thanks for playing! I didn't manage my time well and it really got down to the wire, I was super sad not to have time to add music D: I'm glad you had fun!

Sloshedbucklers by Wheffle 2023-10-11T18:34:50Z

@chuckiee Both of those were features I wanted to get in! I had ship upgrades mostly ready and probably could have gotten them in with just another hour. Time management is hard!

@senso For sure, I had to cut a lot. I didn't scope super well, and there were other issues I ran into from not being super familiar with C# + Godot (my fault), but I think I got a decent amount done considering. Could have been better!

Super Cube by Senso 2023-10-10T04:36:46Z

Is that your voice?

Super polished, simple mechanics, pretty addicting... but I suuuuuck at it lol. I was a little confused during gameplay exactly what the difference was between the different colored blocks, so I kinda just went wild. The time slowdown was really slick, it feels great to play! Incredible for a jam game.

RIDE OF THE LIVING DEAD! by deadjolly 2023-10-10T04:46:44Z

Kinda like zombie Oregon Trail! It took me a little to figure out how to play, but I got it after a while. I started using my guys more as resources-- some must die so the group can live on. It was a little tough to realize that when I clicked on stuff to loot it had consequences for my survivors, but it's a game jam and it's tough to get details in. The look and atmosphere were pretty good! I enjoyed it!

Shrinking Universe by Snorps 2023-10-10T04:54:05Z

This game is brutal as hell  These simple games are always some of the best though, I played it way longer than I meant to. I was thinking maybe it would reduce your reliance on RNG a little bit if you could push the play area left and right to a limited degree. Nice entry though, well executed.

LD55 — Summoning

Voir Dire by danman9914 2024-04-24T18:52:51Z

The concept was great, the execution was great, incredibly polished for 48 hours! Super impressive. Honestly I don't got a lot of notes besides just wanting more content! One of my favorites so far!

Summon Elements by mdotedot 2024-04-15T16:59:02Z

First lemme just dogpile on the level restart button

I'm amazed how much fun I can have with really simple puzzle mechanics. I quickly learned to plan out my moves and it was really satisfying! Good work, especially for a compo!

Emperor's Gems by Togis 2024-04-16T07:21:17Z

I wish there was a button category. The buttons are 5/5, absolutely amazing.

But for real, it's a simple concept but weirdly addictive. It kinda has a cookie clicker quality to it where you bootstrap up and get faster which is really satisfying. I love the aesthetic as well!

The only thing I would suggest is to make the mana amount more prominent as it doesn't catch your eye very well and it was hard to track. Also, maybe some hotkeys for maximum efficiency :stuck_out_tongue:

Delvecologist by Wheffle 2024-04-15T16:41:46Z

@mdotedot Thanks for playing! I'm very new to making puzzle games and the concept was wonky, so I totally get if the difficulty was off or if it was overly confusing. Thanks for the feedback!

Delvecologist by Wheffle 2024-04-15T16:49:19Z

@goodwincek Hey that was a fun one to work on! Thanks for trying this one! This is the first time I've tried making a puzzle game for LD and I'm sure it shows  I'm glad you were able to get the hang of it eventually though. Plenty of rough spots that I think could have been buffed out with more time and more experience working with puzzles. Thank you so much for the feedback, it's incredibly valuable!

GTA 6 is looking good!

Ecaroh's Mecharoh by goodwincek 2024-04-15T17:27:20Z

I'm on to you-- I noticed the enemies intentionally spawning directly in your path

First of all the graphics and audio were all super chunky and satisfying. I appreciate a lot of the small details like the rover motor sound. And the fact that the PC is a little rover with a wizard hat is just fantastic.

Took me a bit to understand how everything worked, but I got a strategy down and it was fun and satisfying! My ADHD brain got overwhelmed a few times with stuff flying all over the place but that was part of what made it fun. I can see a lot of possible cool mechanics if you were to push the idea like special particles you could fire that electrons would orbit or something.

Really cool and unique idea, very well executed!

Life As A Lich by VortexB 2024-04-17T05:01:54Z

Took me a little bit to figure out what I was supposed to do, and which circle the skeleton is supposed to go on haha. After I got the hang of it the puzzles were good! I can tell a lot of effort was put into some of the visuals too, I think that paid off. A little rough around the edges, but it's a good entry!

Pictomancer by RobLaro 2024-04-24T18:28:30Z

Super fun! Good old fashioned idle game, it scratches a special itch. Loved it! One thing I thought while playing was that it would be cool if upgrades affected only one line of books, that way there could be a bit of strategy for which books you pair with which upgrades. Played it quite a while, had lots of fun! Well done!

Chain Reaction by Ategon 2024-04-16T18:59:42Z

I love the concept, drawing to do magic is awesome. Also the art is amazing! This is a drastic suggestion, but I actually think the game might work a bit better without a player avatar? It could be cool to focus on drawing sigils and manipulating the horde of monsters and not worry about running around. Anyway, just an idea I had while playing. Awesome entry!

Imp Master by Owtuvammo 2024-04-17T04:49:41Z

Love the aesthetic, love the mechanic. The darkness is evil! That level took me a while. I had fun though, nice job!

A Following Wind by digitaliliad 2024-04-15T20:57:59Z

I *love* this idea! This is really cool! The art and music are great, the wind animation is really satisfying. Could use an end-game or more intense escalation later on, but pfff, honestly I have very few notes. Very nice job!

Power Summoning by -Mr-Mustachio- 2024-04-15T20:46:56Z

I appreciate that you took the time to put some story in there! I like the idea of a charge-up mechanic, I was thinking it could use another small twist like causing your gun to slow down while you are charging or something. I also like the graphic style, the monsters are cool!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Advance Cookwares by Aurel300 2018-04-26T02:37:12Z

Wow, this is an awesome idea! Cooking as fast as I can to deploy my burger warriors, something I never thought I'd experience in a game. The details in this game made me really happy, like how the sound of the burger cooking got quiet when you moved to the battle screen and loud again when you went back to cooking. The controls for moving between screens felt a little sluggish, especially for a game that's about being frantic. This is my favorite game so far, though. Very awesome.

Just out of curiosity, how did you render your graphics? It looks kind of like a faux-3D technique I learned a while ago involving layers of 2D sprites, but I can't be sure. Whatever it is it turned out really nice.

The Fat Man and the Sea by Samusoidal 2018-04-26T01:35:58Z

Haha nice genre mash-up. It kind of reminds me of one of those multi-tasking puzzle games meant to stress people out. As always I enjoy your artwork as well. The music was nice and simple too, but it began grating on you after a bit because of the short loop. I also **love** LD games with a global high score table, I think they are so fun. Apparently I am number 1 right now (unless my client was wrong), although I doubt that will hang around.

Elemento by Togis 2018-04-26T01:52:03Z

I love me some tower defense. The element combining was really cool, I liked how it was mostly pretty intuitive. I didn't see a lot of difference between the towers though and didn't know what the pros and cons were of using different elements, but the idea was solid and obviously could be iterated on quite a bit more outside a game jam. Really cool entry, I liked it!

**Edit:**

And **mod support??** Holy crap!

Catching Crazy by Burgee 2018-04-26T02:05:43Z

This is one of the best one's I've played so far. You basically made two games! And the way your actions in one game affect the difficulty of the other fits together so well. The only thing I was confused about was whether you could actually get rid of the ghosties in the digging portion, they always just hit me no matter what. The mood of the game in general was terrific, the music and sounds were spot-on. Very nice!

Motorhell by Shelvid 2018-04-26T02:21:52Z

Skeletons with shotguns on motorcycles in hell with a heavy metal soundtrack? You've given me something that I didn't know I wanted. My life is complete. Thank you.

With a few sound effects for visceral feedback and a bit of polish on level progression this game could really reach new heights (or depths?). Very nice work!

Slime Battle Royale by ManBeardGames 2018-04-26T01:25:35Z

Nice idea! The graphics, audio, and premise combined to make a fun experience. I'd say the weakest part was the combat system, as there wasn't any strategy that I could deduce, so it came down to mashing buttons. Maybe some slimes tended to favor one attack? I sort of felt like that might be true but human brains are so bad at telling that kind of stuff. Had fun playing it, so nice job!
