very reminiscent of the original Doom. Mood is dark and claustrophobic. There is actually quite a bit of content to play through, I liked it.

Really enjoyed a lot of aspects of this. I liked the dash mechanic and some of the enemy A.I. I really enjoyed that some of the boss battles were kind of like bullet-hells, not sure I've seen that done very often in an FPS. The Doom-esque mood was pretty spot-on as well. Although I think it was your take on "small world", the visibility range was kind of frustrating to play with. The guns were also a little bit hard to use. Overall I enjoyed it, though. Good work!
You caught me, saying that you follow my project, trying to do something more or less similar. I saw that you did an interesting starter kit so as develop further a solid FPS. I would like to recommend you to add a fog because I don't like this rupture between light and dark - try to do something smooth. I like the enemies behavior. Basical, primal - but good enough ++
This was okay after playing it for a bit. At the start I was unsure, but your mechanic of having a distance to the next objective, and having the world closed in around you coupled with those moments where you reveal the world had sold me by the end. Not bad!
looks cool! downloading it! I'm amazed it only got that few ratings D:
edit: "LD38_Export" crashes when I try to open it :(
@dakikad That's not good :( I'm not sure how to fix that tbh, since I am using Unreal Engine 4 I've just used their export. Only thing I can think of is perhaps you don't have the requirements to run the game or you're not on a windows machine.
I not have Windows but game looks great! Good job!
Really fun game! The graphics, especially the animations and old school textures, are fantastic and really help to set the mood. Spacebar did something, a charge mechanics or something? But I couldn't actually tell what it did other than heat up my weapons a little. The fog of war seemed a little too close for my like at the start, but as I got into it I think it might be perfect. Any further out and it might have been too easy to dodge incoming attacks and just snipe the enemies from afar. I would be very interested if you added procedural level generation, some pickups like limited use weapons, and maybe level bosses. Good work, I hope you keep working on it!
Hope my vote helps you!
It's fun, well put together and quite dynamic. Good job with tutorial, works also as an intro - bonus points for that :)
** what could be improved if you want to develop your game further ** - fog of war could be more ...foggy. With sharp edges it feels arbitral. - barrier looks a bit like a glitch. I suppose it's intended, but ideally it would be clearer that it's *supposed* to be like this - it's a tricky one to get right, I'll provide a visual example I got somewhere on my hd, but I must dig around a bit ;) - second (middle) gun could point a bit more up - it looks like it's directed at the floor. Not a big issue, but it doesn't feel exactly right - make the terrain and paths more recognizable. It doesn't necessarily need to be more textures, just characteristic shapes would do. For now, it's easy to get lost just because passages look so similar. Navigating is actually the hardest part in the game. - as with fog, transition between differently textured areas should be much more smooth. Sharp, arbitral changes doesn't make it feel more surreal, just give off an unfinished vibe - especially since models and textures you used look professional. - difficulty: something that would make the fights more challenging. I'm not an FPS pro, but still it felt easy. - ability to set mouse sensitivity (it's devilishly high for me)
Your project sets an interesting mood, it just needs some love when it comes to level design, and some polish. It's solid work, don't take me wrong ;) But it could be even better. Mechanics and atmosphere are there, now it's mostly polish, tweaking and adding content if you want your project to grow.
Cheers, and stay awesome!
Nice graphics and well made game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDuO7KTgNEs
Absolutely murders my computer this: 15 fps at best. Not your problem really, I've yet to play a U4 jam title which didn't do the same...
Seems alright based on the small segment I played before it dipped into single digits. The weapon are a bit anemic, more effects and recoil would fix that.
