An approachable but sweaty platformer extravaganza that'll test your reactions, pathing and navigation of world-bending alterations, namely the ground under your very own feet! Paired with a brooding, atmospheric soundtrack, you'll be speed diving over chasms and leaving a cloud of dust in your wake... until you get stuck on that tree and are sent back to begin again with the meditative sound of Pavlov raising a toast. Do yourself a favour and RUN don't walk your way to grabbing a copy of Escape The... Something today!

Nice ! Unfortunately the generation is a bit too steep in the beginning (at least the runs I had.)

Controls are good and most of the things are just fine except for the generated levels.

Good job

osh-studio 2022-10-03 10:30

Something about endless runners that look nice, I can't stop playing lol. I liked the music paired with the hand drawn sprites, you have a nice parallax bg which is something I wanted to add to my game but failed. Good job, I had fun :)

rillep 2022-10-03 10:40

Nice graphics! The gameplay was a bit too fast, or I'm too slow, so I did not get very far even though I restarted a lot of times.

thaprofesional 2022-10-03 11:09

@mdotedot thanks for playing :smile:

Yeah - if I had more time I would have liked to have slowly introduced more interesting terrain as time went on.. or paired strange terrain on one side with simple on the other..

thaprofesional 2022-10-03 11:13

@osh-studio thanks for playing :smile:

Getting the background working cost me a lot of time so thanks for appreciating it.

thaprofesional 2022-10-03 11:14

@rillep thanks for playing :smile:

Yeah I definitely think it needs a bit of tweaking.

fnelix 2022-10-03 11:16

Embedded game works fine for me on Win/Firefox! Nice little runner, quite difficult. Well done!

thaprofesional 2022-10-03 11:27

@fnelix thanks - and thanks for playing :)

coderaurus 2022-10-03 12:31

I think the switching platforms is a nice take on the theme. The graphics are bright and the parallax creates a pleasing depth to the game. I agree with others, that the level generation could slowly get harder and harder.

Good job.

@coderaurus thanks and thanks for playing :)

milq 2022-10-04 09:41

Good running-game!! I like the idea of speeding up or slowing down, I hadn't seen it in this type of game. Keeps me on my toes and I love the art, great game!

djd123456 2022-10-04 09:44

Nice Game!

thaprofesional 2022-10-04 11:36

Thanks for playing @milq and @djd123456 :)

2022-10-04 12:35

Fast paced and intense, with interesting speed varying mechanics, meaning it will take longer to master then similar entries in the genre. The graphics are charming as is the music. Well done

@lemongrad thanks for playing :smile:

nyxkn 2022-10-05 08:05

Yo the idea was really good! As it is, it's a little frustrating to play. Controls actually feel really good, but difficulty is just too high. Sometimes the platforms make for seemingly impossible paths. And the switch was very confusing too. Both in regards to the exact time it would happen (timer didn't seem to be enough for the precision required), and confusing by its suddenness. I think maybe the switch could have happened slowly giving you time to assess where you'd end up and plan accordingly. Like maybe even simply with a small time-freeze. I wanted to play more but too frustrating :D Overall very well put-together entry, which just needed a bit better difficulty adjustment!

thaprofesional 2022-10-05 11:51

@nyxkn thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback :)

Yeah if I keep working on it I'd want to play around with some options and see what feels right. I was thinking of showing an outline of the new terrain but that might get too confusing visually. Freezing time might be a better idea.

cogcomp 2022-10-05 18:45

Interesting take on an endless runner with the changing landscape. The landscape feels a bit unfair at times especially during the switches, but rather than make the randomizer kinder I would suggest maybe making the player smaller and the platforms thinner so there's a bit more space to navigate around blocks that might be a bit too close to each other otherwise.

thaprofesional 2022-10-06 01:51

@cogcomp thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback.

That'd be a pretty easy change to make.. and I accidentally drew the dude too small then had to scale him up in the engine leaving him looking ever so slightly fuzzy. So making him a bit smaller (again) and more crisp would be nice.

2022-10-06 02:53

schweaty platformer. 5/5 would die in 2 seconds again

wheffle 2022-10-06 04:50

Cool idea, but this game is *hard*. It's hard to tell, but it feels like there might be an issue where your position isn't consistent during a flip? Maybe I'm just bad though. Love the art!

boodbarbak 2022-10-06 06:51

Good idea! I like the arts. I find it quite refreshing to see a 2d platformer NOT in pixel art. ;) Controls are good. On the downside, I felt that the game was a bit too hard: most of the time I don't even get to 10 seconds which defeats the purpose of the game... Also, there are so many platforms that the up/down switch rarely makes any impact and makes it almost unnoticeable. I feel like a few little tweaks could have fix these few downsides and make this game even more fun... this said, 48 hours is a short time for this kind of considerations :) Good job.

thaprofesional 2022-10-06 06:57

@heyguystoreyhere and @wheffle thanks for playing :)

@wheffle yeah I thought the same thing while play testing some times but not others. All the code does is flip the y scale of each terrain (the top and bottom) every 10 second.. I double checked and the player doesn't listen to the timer event.. so altering player position would be an impressive bug hopefully I didn't manage to hide it somewhere but it's possible..

If the player's mid-terrain during a change it'll definitely mess things around maybe I should try code it so they're always pushed up so they'll land on platforms.

thaprofesional 2022-10-06 07:07

Thanks for playing @boodbarbak :smile:

I'm a big fan of hand-drawn art (..and it's all I know how to do) so thanks for appreciating it.

Yeah in hindsight I should have allotted a bit more time for terrain design and **any** amount of time for play testing I completely forgot that's something I was meant to do :sweat_smile:

quinn-patrick 2022-10-06 17:42

As others have said, this game is really hard, especially at the start, although I think it has a good rhythm. I always felt compelled to try another round, so good job, it would just be nice if it was easy enough that I could reliably make it at least to the first flip. Speaking of which, this is one of my favorite uses of the theme so far, and I really like the visuals.

noeloskar 2022-10-06 19:44

I like the idea, i find the game a bit hard though, i feel like the general speed should be slowed down, would be nice if the flip wasn't instant aswell, i think something like just rotating the players gravity might have had worked better, i like the artstyle it's pretty cool, overall really nice game, keep it up

real-human-1000 2022-10-07 01:50

Cool game! I like the parallax effect in the background and the animation of the running guy. I think things move a little too quickly for me to fully react to and the transition from floor to ceiling is very sudden, despite the countdown. I appreciate the music and sound effects.

thaprofesional 2022-10-07 02:09

@quinn-patrick thanks for playing and thanks for the kind words :)

@noeloskar thanks for playing :D Having the gravity change was another idea I had floating around to the point I did the art (an indicator) and sound effects for it just ran out of time to chuck it in and test it.

@real-human-1000 thanks for playing and thanks for appreciating the parallax I took up way too much time getting it to work. Probably should have spent the time on balance but at least it looks pretty :sweat_smile:

la-bread 2022-10-07 02:45

I love your art style, its impressive to see so much done with sprites and stuff in so little time! it's a bit hectic and fast but its still kinda fun!

thaprofesional 2022-10-07 02:54

@la-bread thanks and thanks for playing :)

zimny11 2022-10-10 22:51

Cool game! I wish there was some slowdown then switching things upside-down, because it gets quite hard to predict where player will be after switching. The music is quite nice and I like the art style too, especially the stylized background. Good job with the game!

knatt 2022-10-15 15:33

Fun game! The controls felt good and it was satisfying when I got a good run in. I found that I died the most when the levels switch. I had fallen into holes that opened up under my feet, so I tried to be in a jump whenever there was a switch. This made me open to getting stuck behind platforms. Whenever the level switched it felt more like a run ending gamble rather than something I need to think through on the fly.

oadt 2022-10-18 17:20

Fun game, but it aws a bit too difficult for me because I wasn't able to additionally think about how the terrain looks after the swap while also controlling the character :smile: Great details on the character animation and I also liked the music. I noticed that the music evolves over time but I got a bit tired of listening to the begining :sweat_smile: Some additional things I noticed: * I think you could replace the Z and R button with SPACE (or give the option to use SPACE) to make the controls feel a bit easier. * The small green trees that are obstacles are sometimes a bit hard to see
