wow really interesting concept. its sort of rare that a game makes you think about deep philosophical questions like what is the value of a life or is this life more valuable than this other. even though they were just pixels on my screen, i felt uncomfortable at the notion of having to choose. i really liked the subtitle "you judge them, i judge you." it had a certain weight to it. in the end i was down to the crazy person and the doctor, and i figured that i had spun this little world into so much chaos and there was no one left for the doctor to help so i just let the crazy man live and then killed myself. your game was unique and it will make people think. i also anticipate it will make some people uncomfortable. which honestly is commendable. to illicit that emotion out of someone i think gives value to your art. great job!
Thanks. though I feel like I just rushed the dialogues, they are too small to be interesting and random.
I liked it, however, I am not sure what the rating at the end is supposed to mean.
I really like the concept, and the final 2 choices hit me really hard. Really well done. Nitpicks: The sounds, imo, don't really fit that well. The sound when you click on the location also has a screech at the end that makes it uncomfortable to hear. The fading out when you kill the person also feels really slow. Otherwise, it's a pretty good job! Well done.

I loved this game so much lol. The presisdent sprite was especially funny ;). Great choice of concept, and refreshing take on the theme. Really wish you could skip the intro dialogue though, and if they aren't randomized already, you should perhaps think about randomizing the characters from a larger bank of them or something like that.
Good game.
I really liked this! There wasn't much to it, and the ending came across as confusing to me, but I realized that the game wasn't exactly about the gameplay, as much as what it makes you think about, and you were successful. Overall, fantastic job!

I liked this. Pretty simple in scope but it got me thinking, and was very well focused. It made good use of all it had, including the art and the way it just dropped me in with no explanation which I liked. A game of impossible choices...
I would have enjoyed the dialog from the characters a bit more if it didn't overlap and get a bit jumbled. The zooming of the characters toward the camera when I selected them was a nice touch.
Needing to select some framework for choosing, I evaluated everyone logically based on my perception of their contribution to advancing or maintaining society, until you made it personal and then my morals were no longer convenient.
nice game, nice concept, I think expanding the game would be worthwhile

It was a really interesting concept! I think it would have felt more complete if you got a small wrap up ending based on who you saved. Myself popping up as an option was nice and surprising. What if, depending on the choices you make, the last person alive besides you were to make the call of who lives? That way it would feel like your choices had more long term consequence.
Hi! I really liked the idea you went with for your game. The intro dialogue was a little slow and unskippable, but once in, the game was very nice. It's been a long time since a game has made me think about weighty decisions, even if they were just pixels on the screen with no consequences. I ended up having to choose between the president and the doctor, and had to choose the president. But when I was asked to choose myself, or the president, I actually had to think for a little while before choosing the president. Very nice idea, and execution was awesome!

Hi my friend, I have just rate your game and it's pretty good with an interesting and simple idea. I really like it. By the way you can check out my game here :D https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/naziverse-1

Great work conceptually, I love the Joker the most out of all the characters! The ending was a bit cryptic for me so I would like to know!
Congrats on putting this together! I had fun trying out your game. It was well designed, and functioned without bugs. The graphics and aesthetics felt cohesive and well put together. I felt the point you were trying to get across was a little heavy handed, but I still really appreciate that you put together a game that makes people think. Thank you so much for sharing this!
That was something, pretty interesting. I really liked the pre-death dialog!
The rating is suppose to indicate your personality sorry it was not in the instructions. Sword means you love violence. Water drops means peace. Pillow means you are an easy go lucky person. Etc...
Trying this out now! Btw, from what platform and browser were you playing my game (Mac or PC w/ Firefox recommended)? Could just be an issue with Linux or some network restrictions e.g. at work.
Awesome work, great graphics! Jealous of the cursor, wasn't able to get a custom mouse to work in my team's game. I may have killed myself. Or yourself? Fun game!
Really like how this game makes you think, with a nice twist at the end!
Ill played yours xavier in webgl. It got some errors where I cant see the other images only the dialogues
I love this game.It changed the way I think while playing this
Very interesting idea. Didn't expect the games here to get this philosophical :) I don't think that it fits the theme well, but it has other strengths. In the end, however, I had no idea what the ratings meant so the whole premise of being judged fell apart a little.
Interesting. I'm not sure if I got the thought as author meant it but it is always good to see people to do this kind of game instead of generic platformer.
Also sorry to runt about it, but it was quite pointless to point this game as having small build when you have to dl this small(11Mb) build from the web page that weights 30Mb itself.
Nice entry, a really good take on moral choices! Personaly, it went down to the teacher and me, and... well, the teacher's not a real person you know ? so I saved myself. I would have liked longer dialogues to characterize better the characters (It could be interesting having to save a man really useful for the society, but who is a jerk) Anyway, great game, good work !
Im quite unsure about the ratings too cause I just rushed it but here is the idea: * sword = people who loves violence * water drop = likes peace * pillow = easy go lucky types * paper with pen = values quality and development * bird = hope for the future, for the good of many * crying or tears = compassionate * special coin = secret (!)
Quite a thoughtful take! I really enjoyed having the gameplay come less straight from the mechanics, but rather from thinking about the game. Not sure I really understand all of the ratings, but I don't think it's necessarily needed. Nice simple effective animations, too.

Very interesting game. Very unique! I really enjoyed it. It's pretty complete and perfect for a game jam. Besides fleshing out some content and tweaking it's one of the few games I've played that seems pretty "done".
Not only "done" but well done! The mechanics, the interpretation of the theme, even the mood of your game is perfect. In some cases it was quite easy for me to discard one of the two people but at some point it became hard and depressing to judge humans just by their profession and behaviour during the voting. Only problem with the game is, as you already know, the rating at the end. Without your explanation, it is impossible to understand.
All in all one of the most meaningful games I have played on ld38 so far and I can tell, that I am really astounded. Great work!
This is an interesting idea. I do think the implementation is _slightly_ flawed, however, in that in a sense many of the choices you make don't matter; you're only allowed to leave one person alive, and everyone else gets killed; that being the case, it's not clear how much it matters what _order_ you kill them in.
I was playing the game fullscreen, so at the end I didn't even know I was being _shown_ a rating until I had already quit the game and returned the main menu.
All that being said, I still think this is a really cool premise for an entry. Well done!
Clear control in the game and funny buttons, I felt like a judge, or a god)) thanks!
@philomory In calculation of the points it matters though. How many times you saved the guy does matter. My calculation is like this: currentAttribPoints += (guy2Attribs - guy1Attribs);

I played it three times and only at the second run I figured out what it was about. You really kept your promise of judging us haha. The changing coins were a nice touch to represent the score, I only missed two things ate your game:
a) a word to go with the coins, so we can be sure what was our score without having to come here at the site and
b) background music :( I gave you high enough Mood points, it would be 5/5 if there was music to take the mood deeper...
anyway, congrats for the game!!

Emmm...Don't get the point. Final judge is quite interesting...You got the point
Gameplay is simple but design is awesome! You always have to choice between two humans. Eventually you have to decide if you're above a person whom you thought was better than the all other characters. Great idea!

Great idea, even though I don't get the 'judging me' part.
Sometimes it was easy to choose, sometimes it was hard. I would hate to make real life decisions like that which is why I am happy that we are making games instead =) Makes you think!
Nice concept, kind of let down by execution. I'm also not sure what ending I got! Sword first time...something else the next - couldn't make it out! But I like the idea - although I'm not sure if it really follows the theme (not that it matters to some people). Thanks for making this.

Nice graphics, good idea. I liked that you get different endings that mean different things, even if I didn't quite understand mine. A different kind of layout with more emphasis on the quotes and more impactful quotes would have been great. Good job :)
I like the graphics and the concept! It would be nice to have some backgroundmusic. Good game. Well done!
Very interesting. I've seen similar games before, but this stands out in having dialogue that changes depending on who is on screen, which makes the decision much tougher. I also liked the final decision in the game, which I don't think I've seen in a game before.
The judging could be done better, but besides that, this is great.
