The Unreal Odyssey by cushycode 2016-09-01T18:22:00
Great interpretation of the theme, i loved this feeling of getting lost, then figuring where I was on the map, then getting lost again x)
Great game ! Well done

Great game ! Well done
Fun platformer game, the torch really add some tension !
The art is great !
I got lost many times on 2nd level though
Good job :)
Nice concept, I liked the art style :) I love the fact that we can push other block to "correct" a previously failed launch
Fun mechanic :) I had trouble understanding how the crates work, then I saw the faint image of the alternate crate, but it's not very visible with this background. The dialogs are great ! Adds a lot the game feels :)
Nice entry, I think you should try to display the current score during the game and not only at the end so the player can realize if he's doing a good run or not ;) (Best score : 256)
@BentMyWookiee
Thank you very much for your feedbacks ! We really appreciate it :). We're glad you enjoyed the game. Sorry that we made this a little bit too difficult tho. We added a solution guide in the description (http://hpics.li/578d29b ). If you ever want to keep going :) ! Thanks mate !
@kyyninen
Thank you for your feedback, we had no nokia 3310 device available to check if it was accurate, so we had to do with memories to emulate the phone. I know for sure thing that the composer didn't work this way, but it was too difficult to rememberhow it worked exactly ^^'.
If you played the snake game at first, you may have missed some messages, but it shouldn't have prevented you to finish the game.
Anyway thank you for your feedback :)
Wow, this game surely is beautiful :p
I had trouble understanding what to do sometimes but I think it's part of the experience, music is really cool too.
It can be a bit weird at first but nice entry ;)
Nice game, quite intense, didn't manage to pass the third level :(
The art and music are great, well done !
Cool Game ! Too bad there is only one level, i would have enjoy to keep going :) Nice work
Nice game, it missed a feedback on the ennemy getting hit though. Got 233 points !
Really clever game ! I would have love to see more diversity in the fireworks !
Nice job :)
Nice graphics :) Not sure I completely understood the combat system though, I always get hit :/
Nice job anyway !
Great game ! I think the most fun riddles were the longest ones as you could really deduce the sentence based on the glyphes.
Well done !
Original entry, I found it really hard though, if you have time, I'd love to see the solution :)
A bit too short, but really fun :) I had trouble understanding how to avoid the first thunder, but when I got it, it went ok.
The graphics are great, and the voiceover of the T-rexpresident is just hilarious x)
Well done :)
Very cool game, we played coop with a friend and it was really fun.
The graphics and UI are great.
I had the impression the fire guy was a bit better than the sword man though.
Anyway, great entry, well done !
Loved the concept ! I would have loved a bigger map, with more buildings and more aqueducs ;)
Controls were a bit hard to understand though
Nice game, Well done !
Nice platformer game :)
The concept is classic but well executed, with good ideas in the level design. The retro pixel art works very well, good job :)
Cool shooting game, the 3D models were nice :)
I found it a bit difficult to aim correctly when I was on the side of the screen, because of the perspective.
I had fun, survived 10 waves, well done !
Beautiful art, not sure I completely understood the main mechanic thoug x) I had a feeling the board at the right of the redo button was a hint, but couldn't go further ^^
Nice entry though !
Graphics are really great, loved the smoke particles !
The game surely is pretty, nice work :)
Very nice entry !
The concept is interesting, but I got a bit confused at the part where you have to click on the clone to switch back to the real one.
Also, the plateformes are a bit slippery in my opinion.
The ambiance is actually the strong point of this, with nice graphics and great music ! Well done :)
Nice entry ! :) Manage to get 415 points before losing to those red buggers... (I love their face btw). I think the game would have benefit of a faster jump or a kind of dash because it's a bit difficult to defend both the left and right side.
Had fun playing it though, well done !
Nice game, had trouble understanding why I couldn't place certain building before seeing the numbers at the top.
The concept is fun and nicely executed well done :)
Wow it's hard x) But quite addictive too ! I found it a bit frustrating to have to wait the bomb stop moving each time I fail, maybe you could add a button to reset the bomb ? Nice entry anyway ;)
A really nice experience ! I would have liked to play longer and have other puzzles as well ;) The mood was great, it really was relaxing! I personally found the texts not necessary and I would have loved too "experiment" more to understand the game mechanics (a bit like games like Samorost) Anyway, great work, I had fun !
That's great! This is so fun, loved how the toe was hanging around. I tried to be careful, but couldn't stop myself to replay and... well destroying everything was fun too, so... The art worked perfectly for the theme, with goofyness and everything! Really impressive entry
Nice entry, a really good take on moral choices! Personaly, it went down to the teacher and me, and... well, the teacher's not a real person you know ? so I saved myself. I would have liked longer dialogues to characterize better the characters (It could be interesting having to save a man really useful for the society, but who is a jerk) Anyway, great game, good work !
Really good game ! The mood was so great, really felt like rescuing whoever this person was ! The controls were a bit hard to get at first, couldn't get the mouse to work for some reason, but after a few retries it worked perfectly fine. Nice work !
Great game ! The art style was nice, abducting cows was particulary satisfying for some reasons x) I had some trouble at first understanding how to drop the abducted people in the silo, maybe a different input could have been useful. The beam physic was really great, and just moving around cars, people and cows was really fun
I had the same issue than above, with a crash after dropping 70 guys, the army seemed to be really pissed off with me ;) well....png
Anyway, good entry ! I had fun playing it :)
Wow, such a great game! The concept is brilliant, and well executed. The game is not too easy or difficult, and provides a real challenge. As said above, the balancing skill/luck is perfect, and the level design brings a lot to the game. It's the kind of game I'd love to play on a coach with friends, I hope you'll release a post-jam version with multiplayer support ;)
Impressive work really
Great game ! The writing is really good, I really enjoyed the humor in the dialogues. The mood is great, the audio really brings something to the game. Nice entry, good work !
Impressive entry! The managing mechanic was really well balanced The huge "how to play" page was a bit scary to be honest, but the game is actually pretty simple to play I would have like a "speed" button, like in some other game of the same kind, to speed up the game a bit Great work, well done!
Nice game ! I like how the rythm evolved through the game becoming really intense by the end. The lightning effect was really satisfying, maybe with some screenshake and more effects, the game can be very rewarding :) Good job !
Nice entry ! The gameplay was fun and easy to understand I had an issue at first when I started the game without any weapons and couldn't do anything, maybe try to fix this behaviour ? I would also have liked to see the health of the ennemies so I could better plan my moves. Great game though, good work !
Thank you all for your feedbacks !
@mgoadric the plant don't eat food, but when you reach a certain year, you lose more food naturally. I added that at the last minute because the balancing was really inexistant and the difficulty was always the same.
@Nimbus It's indeed a bug ;) That could be a feature to explore actually! I also have to add some feedback when you take down a monster to show that you gain food :)
@Toulou Thank you very much! The balancing is not so well indeed, the game is really becoming too difficult around year 10, I didn't take the time to test "long" runs during the jam x)
Nice little game ! There's an issue with the score who doesn't reset between each play I think ;) Also, I really missed the option to replay a level, I grow tired of having to do the game from start when I failed. The art is great, and god, this cat is really frightening. Great work !
Wow, that was so strange, yet quite enjoyable ! For some reasons, I really liked the art, it gave a real mood to the game. The humor was great ! Good job !
Nice concept ! The puzzle mechanics are a bit tricky to get and it takes many trials to understand how it works. The game overall is a bit hard, I managed to reach lvl4, but couldn't go further. I'm not sure I understand why I sometime got a gameOver when I moved my astronaut though. Still very innovative, good work !
The humor was great, it's a fun interpretation of the theme well done! The zelda/zelda-like parody was efficient and worked pretty well. There was some frustrating issue though, such as the money pieces who doesn't collide with the environment making them impossible to get ;) The art direction could sometimes be a bit confusing (I understood only at the end that the empty chest sprite was an empty chest) Still, a fun entry, nice work!
Hey nice work ! Loved how you took a small scope and really exploited the concept ! The hitboxes could be a bit more permissive but it wasn't game breaker for me It's one of those little game I like to play when I have 10 minutes to kill, great work!
fun game ! The humor was great, the *unfaints* really hit the nail x) I loved the work you put on sound design, it really serves the mood of the game! The overall difficulty was a bit too hard though, I didn't manage to reach the end, as I had sometime troubles understanding why I lost. Maybe a more clear feedback when the adults are highly suspecting you could do the thing? Anyway, great entry !
The sperm animation was really juicy, the humor great, the gameplay good, nice entry overall :) I had trouble understanding the purpose of the walls as it seems some of the sperms could get through it ? The bait was a really cool idea, I could kill a lot of sperm in not so many clicks thanks to it :) (have you thought of a combo multiplicator in that sort of case?)
I liked the idea of understanding the mechanics in the menu by playing, it was a smart way to learn the game I must admit, I first thought the ovula was a button, with the words "replay" and "exit" on it, I couldn't understand what was going on x)
Anyway, I reached 476 deaths, then I gave up. Nice game, well done!
I loved this game! The mood was great, I had a great time! Like above, I had some hard time understanding how to push objects at first, but after that it was all good Pretty impressive you managed to do a boss in a LD entry! I had trouble figuring out how to beat it, but thanksfully, I had no gameOver against him :) Nice entry, well done !
Nice puzzle game, really made me think hard! For some reasons I kept clicking on the wrong arrow when wanting to add a puzzle piece, so I spawned on the other side of the line, maybe a smoother animation of the line sliding could make this kind of confusion less frequent Good work though!
Really nice art, great game, had trouble finding the password at first :) I would have enjoyed watching a more concrete football game, but I guess that wasn't really the message ;)
I love this game, clearly one of my favorite game of the jam so far! The theme is totally there, the audio and graph are perfect and the gameplay is there (but couldn't hurt to be a bit more challenging) Different pattern attacks for the enemies could really do the trick (For some reasons it makes me think of crypt of the necrodancer for enemy patterns, maybe you could look into it ?) Anyway, really good work, well done!
This made me think of the Carmen SanDiego games, was it you inspiration ? Anyway, I liked the humor, I would have liked to investigate a bit more instead of just going to the next city and hoping I'd find the thief. This has potential ! Nice work, keep it up !
Real nice concept, so simple yet so fun ! That's actually the first time I see a game using the movement of the window as a mechanic and I find it totally awesome! Great work!
Nice game, the humor is well executed I first though the @merica and #usa meant I had to nuke myself, causing the "america can't be nuked' issue ;) The clues were quite subtle sometimes, and I appreciated the Bonnie Tyler reference x) Well done !
Nice job, love the "Little Shop of Horrors" vibe :D By exploring the map I accidently got lost and coulnd't find the plant again, maybe a compass would be a nice feature ? I would also have loved to be able to feed the neighbors to the plant when they start running after you. Well done!
Nice entry, it feels really juicy and juggling is fun. The game is maybe a bit too hard tho, I feel like player's jump wasn't high enough ?
Fun mini games with good rythm. The font used isn't always legible tho but it's still ok. Well done!
It's a great game! The aesthetics reminded me a bit of monument valley and I loved the way you presented each level without any text. The only thing that bothered me was the pathfinding, I think sometimes if you click to fast when the character is between two squares it can sometimes be unpredictable. Otherwise it's a really good entry it's so cool even the "level selection" screen tell a little story!
Nice modd and survival game, I didn't understand at first why I was suddenly slowed down by carrying too much stuff, I thought it was maybe due to temperature? It was fun tho, good job!
Great mood ! I liked the fact that the level design wasn't just only about going right and had some exploration to it. I felt like maybe I didn't understand some things, like what is this pod that follows me and does it have a purpose ? Also can I kill the tank and bigger mechas Overall it was quite good, with a special mention for the audio wich is great, the theme is catchy and energetic. Well done !
It's actually very far from a bad jam game! And for a novice it's actually pretty cool. The concept is simple and efficient wich is great, and with a better difficulty curve I would really play this game as a "rage game" like "World's Hardest Game" on Web. There's also a lot of room to extand the concept, add little features and mechanics to twist the concept and add diversity wich could make a bigger game later.
I think for the jam, what missed the most was frequents checkpoints (maybe at everyscreen change?).
Overall, congratulation and very well done!
I like the procedural generation and the way the level is shaped, it's makes a game that relies more on reflex than anticipation but it's fine. The gameplay is good and the replay value is there, the leaderboard is a nice touch to add replayability too.
Regarding the art, the tiling on the ground was a bit painful to my eyes at high speed, I would have prefered something more smooth like a gradient. Also, I wasn't sure at first if the green and yellow obstacles where in fact obstacles or some kind of collectible. I think you could have kept the color code "red=bad" for better understanding of the game.
I also tried the option to play outside of the tunnel and it's interesting too but I was too confused with the controls.
I liked the procedural animation you did, the effect is cool during game over.
Good entry, well done!
I came in expecting a "regular" *submarine collectaton* and I was pleasantly surprised by the game mechanic. The hook is a really nice twist and mastering it is a very fun. I felt maybe post processing was a bit too strong when moving fast, but otherwise the art style is cute, efficient and readable.
The game reminded me of those flash era games you could play for hours just trying to improve your score/time. Really well done, congrats!
(Score: Easy-> 2.53 Medium-> 4.37 Hard-> 6.33)
Adding a competitive aspect to a clicker game is a great idea and it works wonder. The UI animation and audio is great and actually help focusing on clicking as fast as possible. Very well done!
Fun game! The controls are a bit weird I think, I would have prefered something more like The Binding of Isaac with shooting on the arrow keys, having to press the spacebar each time is a bit unnatural. The artstyle is a bit trippy but it's coherent and works well. A special mention to the animations: they are great and help make this universe believable.
Overall I had a good time playing your game, well done!
This is great! The game design is really well thought and complete, every mechanic make sense. The pixel art is very cute too. I liked having to choose between keeping a guy to go deeper or using all my crewmates to fights the fishes, it makes some interesting gameplay decision.
I think maybe the feedback for wich fishes are currently under attack could be better, and maybe add some logic to why each kind of fish is affected by each module. (The one who fear light could be a creepy anglerfish or something) I couldn't never remember wich module affected each fish so I tried all modules everytime :D
Really great work, congratulation!
Thank you everyone for your feedback, we really appreciate it!
@eboatwright :/ We noticed some issues sometimes with Firefox users, if that's your case have you tried switching browser? Otherwise you can always download the Windows build wich should be more stable.
First of all, well done for submitting your game, it is nothing to be ashamed of :) It is very short indeed but the gameplay works and is fun. The shooting animation is cute and using acid to remove food residue was satisfying. I feel like level design could have been more inspired, maybe less linear? or with more platforming section? (maybe weird in a human body but why not?) Good work!
As said above, simple but solid. Gameplay could be more interesting by adding a minesweeper-like mechanic, with clues to find bones and avoid bombs. Well done:)
Nice entry, a clever concept well executed. I think I finished some of the levels at the end in a way that wasn't planned (I only used 1 portal when there was like 5 in the level). Well done!
Nice idea, I liked the "gotta catch em all" aspect of the game. Trying to find each kind of fish was a great way to add depth in the gameplay. Well done:)
That's a great game, art and animation are really sweet. I really enjoyed the extra care you put in some mecanics such as the combat system or the fact that if you hit a bomb once by mistakes it gives you some time to run away. I think my only issue with the game is the difficulty wich is a bit too easy, each run being a bit too long in my opinion (shorter runs will increase the incentive to press the replay button I think).
Overall an impressive entry, very well done!
Good entry. The shooting controls felt a bit weird: shooting without moving cause the bullet to stay in place and and shooting while moving cause the bullet to "backward" for some time before going forward.
Is there a global objective other than collecting green&blue fishes ? Going deeper in the sea and discovering new fish species was cool but I didn't felt any incentive to do so because all the fishes that gives me score are at the top of the sea.
It's nice to see another very narrative entry! Obviously it's a bit brief but the mood is still there and the execution is really good. The art is really impressive considering you only had 24 hours, from the character animations to the storm in the background, it felt really polished (again 24 hours?! well done).
I think I may have had an issue with the audio though, I tried Firefox and Chrome and I didnt' have any sounds? I didn't rate audio for this reason.
Well done this is a nice entry!
Visuals are really good. I thought you depicted a metaphorical fall and resignation to the temptation of smoking but when reading the game description I found out that was maybe not the case :p I think the artstyle is very evocative in it's simplicity, great job.
Great work, congrats on making a tutorial for a game jam, this is really time consuming and yours is very well done. I liked the time limit twist in this genre that was clever. I had fun!
I was pretty surprised by the amount of content in this game. The change in perspective with each level is well executed and funny, each level felt unique and really different than the one before .
The game is pretty tough and I would have liked to have checkpoints at each level.
Audio is nice, all the voice over are really funny and it gives great vibes. (please tell me you made the rap song at the credits? it was so good!)
Gameplay works well too, It took me some times to understand the last weapon but once I got it it was very pleasing to use. I would also liked being able to shoot at bigger angle range. I had a lot of troubles with the wasp, they may need clearer feedback when they are hit?
I couldn't always understand what was a platform and what was just the background. The game became much more interesting when I realized I could jump on roof and use them as cover, I feel like this could be more explicit.
I would have liked being able to eliminate multiple enemies with the grenade launcher (but maybe it would have been to OP?).
Overall it's a very nice game, I had fun tryharding and completing it! Thank you and well done to the whole team!
Player animations are really cute and the sound design with the voicing is well done. I felt lost pretty quickly however. When I was underground I found that I was pretty much digging everywhere at random. I couldn't find the goblin but I did find a torch underground, was I close to the end?
I love the art style! Gameplay is simple, efficient and fun and unlocking upgrades to become stronger works very well. I didn't understand what the "worm" upgrade did however? One issue I had was with the character collision wich is slightly larger than one block, it can be a bit frustrating at the beginning to lose because you're not falling in the hole you just dig.
Overall, really nice job, I really had fun!
My major issue with your game is the global rythm of the game and the balance between narration and gameplay.
The narrative sequence are too long in my taste, the text speed is very slow with no way of accelerating it and some dialogues don't really feel useful (they just summarize what something was said before). I think if there were more of those sequence but they were shorter it would be better for the global rythm of the game.
I feel like you maybe wanted to do something bigger and you didn't have the time to?
I quite liked the artstyle, the pixel art is really nice and the animations have a lot of personnality. The 3D shaders and post process are good work too, the amount of work that went into this art direction is actually quite impressive.
The controls were really fast I'm not sure if that was intended (maybe they aren't framerate independant?) but otherwise they work nicely, the transition from walking to swimming is smooth and that's not easy to do right.
Regarding audio, I would have liked the background music to stay during the gameplay sequence, it felt a bit less polished with no audio or sfx whatsoever. I also quite liked the talking sounds you made with the text appearing it had some nice nintendo vibes.
The story was deep. I liked how you made fun of the theme with it. The twist was a nice touch and even tough the story is quite dark, the humor was there nonetheless.
To sum it up, it was a nice entry, and a lot of work clearly went to this. Congratulation to the team and keep it up, I had a good time playing it :)
This is a really strong and important game. The gameplay is just simple enough to let each message/part sink and the art is perfect. Congratulations and thank you.
Great work! Not much to say here, the game is fun and the AI are balanced enough to provide some challenge while still being beatable after a few tries. I had fun!
Love the ambiance of this game! The "retro movie" vibes are really well done and is quite fun. The animations are fun too, smashing cats and driving them crazy with the mouse cursor is great. I felt like the game could get a bit too easy once you realise you can pretty much shake the mouse across the whole screen to distract all cats at once and acculumate absurd amounts of combo. (But the combo texts are fun as well so I guess it's not that big of a deal).
Really great entry, well done!
The concept is nice, the terrain destruction is fun to play with and the AI is well done. The aim mechanics works really well. However I felt the gameplay lacked a bit of depth. Maybe implementing movement could help.
There is also lags if the player spam click to shoot multiple time, the shoot cooldown could maybe be a bit longer. Overall nice concept, I really think this idea can be expanded further to make a great game!
Controlling the fly and seeing it wiggle is fun, but I think it can be a little frustrating after a while without any clear objective. I think the game need clearer explanations; tt took me some times to understand the "sleep" mechanic when the eyes are closed, and I'm not sure why I had to pick up those bubbles (is it to breathe?).
The audio is nice, the music at the start was really good and the little sound when moving are funny. I also liked the black and white artstyle and the "crazy" look you gave to the fly.
Well done!
Nice graphics, the pico-8 aesthetics is well executed. Felt like ammo were a bit too scarce tho, making the game a bit too hard for me x) I actually scored better when trying to avoid all obstacles instead of shooting.
Good job!
This is a really great game, it's really impressive how polished this is for a jam game. Audio and graphics are really good, the music is one of the best I've heard in a jam game and the pixel art is beautiful. This makes a great mood. Maybe an option to skip dialogues could be good, when you are looking for a clue you sometimes trigger the same dialogue multiple times.
** Spoiler ** I couldn't finish it tho, I was stuck once I got the key of utter destruction and the green mask and couldn't find what to do next.
Congratulations to the team, this is my favorite game of the jam so far!
I am a bit stuck in the game as i can't seem to get past the 3rd enemy. They run toward me so fast I don't have enough time to kill them :( (maybe the movement is tied to framerate?) Visuals looks great tho
I love seing weird concepts such as this. This is a really artistic and abstract representation of the theme and I loved it!
I loved how you managed to tell a story with very simple and seemingly random events, a yellow circle grabbed a polygon in front of me, and suddently it became a lost opportunity that someone else took in front of me. It gives a lot of room to interpretation and metaphors, this is really clever.
Really great job, thank you!
This is a great game! It's a bit hard at first to understand everything that's going on but it's very satisfying once you get the grisp of it. I would have liked being able to select job with the mouse so the game could be playable with only the mouse. I feel like the rope mechanic is a bit tough too, maybe the dward needs to be able to jump one square up to protect the player from small mistakes?
Anyway this was really fun overall, really well done!
Really enjoyed the intro sequence and the music in general, the setup is fun and original and I can't wait to learn more of the adventures of Sherlock Worms and the evil birdygang :p
That said, the gameplay is a bit too simple I think to make me want replay it over and over. I thought the speed boosts were obstacles at first (like blue nunchakus) and I was trying to avoid them; wich caused my first few tries to end very fast. I think maybe if the overall speed of the game was faster, the difficulty could rely more on reflex instead of anticipation and it would better translate the "escape" mood.
Good entry, well done! :)
Really cute game, the little bees are adorable. The end of each level was surprising and funny too. Gameplay wise, I think the movement speed is too slow it makes some obstacles really difficult to avoid, especially when they combine together. I liked the "your size is your life" idea with every collectible giving you time to survive longer. Maybe a gauge or something to show how close to the end of the level we are could be useful too.
Nice entry, well done!
I had some troubles at first understanding the drill mecanics. I think overall the game needs more signs and feedbacks, I couldn't always tell where I was supposed to go. There is some nice puzzle/platform potential though for this game, so keep going!
Nice entry. I was actually a bit disappointed that events were random as I couldn't learn from my mistakes at each run. The concept is good. Multiple times I was on the verge of dying and suddently got an event wich saved me, if it's intentional it's a really nice touch.
Well done!
Nice take on the theme, the narration mechanic with the "recall" is a great touch to tell this story. Well done :)
The controls are the biggest issues here. We move to fast and with way too much momentum. The concept is simple but actually works well. Level design is interesting, not too long and just challenging enough with the time constraints.
The little backstory you wrote is cute and funny and I would have like to find it more in the game too (my kiwi reward could have at least been an image).
I think the game could also feel a lot better with more juice (particles/screenshakes/other) when digging. If the simple action of digging is satisfying enough the game can be very fun even if it's really simple.
Overall, well done for finishing a game with those time constraints, there's potential!
Loved the music, it really set the mood for the game. Navigating those fish around was pleasing and trying to hide from predators using algae was fun.
I would have liked more feedback when we lose some fishes, it's not always easy to estimate how many fishes we have without looking at the counter at the top right corner of the screen.
Very nice chill game overall, well done!
Nice work! I think the camera was still not zoomed out enough on the build I played, I couldn't see the next platform most of the time. I liked what you did with mixing the narration to gameplay, it gaves me Thomas Was Alone vibes. There's some spelling mistakes but overall it's well done. I liked the idea of unlocking/locking jumps number but I felt like it could have been exploited a bit better in the level design, with less linearity.
The audio is well done too it gaves the whole experience a good mood. Art wise, I'm not a huge fan of the post processing effect you used but that's a very personal opinion. The very simple graphics are actually coherent together and helps the narration and the mood so well done on that.
That was fun, good work!
Great job to both you and your daughter! The game is fun, the sonar was a specially nice touch as it gives the player some way to control the random. I played it a few times and really enjoyed it. As said above, hope you and your daughter will be participating in many more jams in the future :)
It's a nice game, the gameplay is really interesting. I think the mechanics need better explanation (maybe in the page description?) I couldn't understand how and when the bridges appears and I still don't get what is the use of TNT. I liked how each fall is going deeper to the next level, it was surprising and really fits to the theme.
I got a score of 55.
I think your web build has some issues however, my inputs weren't detected (I used Chrome and Firefox). The windows build works fine tho.
Good job!
The "smoothness" of the terrain destruction is very pleasant, moving around and digging around is fun by itself. The combat system could have needed more polish. It's simple but fun, good work:)
English isn't my first language so this one was a bit challenging for me but I think I wasn't so bad :p Taking this into consideration, I did felt like the earthquakes were a bit too frequent/fast, and I would have liked mor time for reflexion. (but then again, not my first language) (maybe an easy mode in a postjam version? :D)
Selecting a pillar was sometime a bit slow and tedious with the mouse, especially with the time constraints. I'm not sure how exactly this could be done, but maybe have a shortcut of some kind to write a word faster?
That said, the game is really great and I will probably give it another go later tonight!
Great work and thank you for your game!
This is such a clever way to tell a story! Loved how you changed the shape of the puzzles parts along the way. The ending is great and perfectly sums up the whole experience, well done and thank you for your game!
Fun game! This felt really chaotic in a fun way, it reminded me of Jelly Car.
The section with the falling platform was great, the level really feel unstable also! I think I encountered a bug where the timer stayed to 0 after a gameover.
I really like how you approached the controls of the car with the random jumps and weird stuttering of the wheels, this was just frustrating enough to be fun.
Good Work and thank you for your game!
@mborecki @vrglab @faux-grey @meredori @pavocado @yamzho @arachnid56 @rafael-garcez @ivysly Thank you everyone for your feedbacks, I am glad you liked the game :)
@euske I looked it up, it looks fun! thanks for the recommandation :)
@pdotjpg Ahah I discovered this exploit yesterday one hour before the end of the jam and at this point it was already too late! I have also seen some physics glitchs in the balloon level, I will investigate on those!
There is no "replay" button but you can reload easily your level by using the level selection (cog at the topright). Time got the best of me, I will probably add one on a postjam version of this game (along with a "mute" button for music and sound).
Hehe I got 3120 for my highscore :) This is a great entry. The management layer you put on top of the balancing game was a nice touch but it could be explained better I think; I liked the slightly nihilist approach of placing building, merely throwing them toward a direction. The tuning of the physic was really good it felt really "fair" for the player, I was really on the edge most of the time and the board went for one extreme from another multiple times, it was emotionaly really good :p
Well done and thank you for your game!
Love the Papers please vibes! The art is really clean and the mood is great! I think the global rythm of the game is a bit slow, maybe have more stuff happening each day but less day overall? The gameplay is solid and really geets deeper as you proceed through the days, great stuff!
Good work and thank you for your game!
The idea is interesting and I think the execution is quite good even though it's incomplete. The 1bit art is great and controls are tight. If there was something to prevent the player from staying in the same room without moving, the gameplay would be really interesting! Good work and thank you for your game!
Absolutly loved it! Reminded me of "There Is No Game". It was a bit short but the ending is brilliant and you won yourself a wishlist. Really great work!
Really great work! AI is well done, ennemies are all interesting, boss patterns are great.
Permanents upgrade are a really good idea to encourage player to keep trying after a game over!
The procedural levels and upgrades were really cool too and made each run different, the lightning bolt and bounces even enabling different approach to the combat.
One of my favorite game of the jam! Thank you for your game!
The amount of work put into this game is impressive. The animations and humor are great, physics is really fun, the chaos is perfect. Not much to say, it's rare to see gamejam games with such a big scope be as good. Great work and thank you for your game!
Nice game! The mini games were fun and the pixel art is really clean! I quite like the fact that there is no instruction and you have to figure out what to do at first. I would have like to be able to play all the games with keyboard only or mouse only though, as switching each time between mini games made me lose some precious seconds.
Good job and thank you for your game!
Really polished and juicy. The difficulty is well dosed and not frustrating. Insanity is really rewarding. There's not much to say, the art is great, gameplay is really fun, sounds are good, really good work! Thank you for your game!
Loved the retro vibe! It took me some time to understand how to fix each room (especially the pipes, I thought I had to use the computer somehow.) Once I understood it was quite frantic and fun. I especially like that the electricity room is linked to the other system, it made interesting situations where the player has to change his priorities during tasks. Well done and thank you gor your game!
"Pawsport" is such a great pun! I did win on my first try without really getting the grasp of what ingredients had wich effect. My second try was more fun as I try to use bit more reflexion and even though random still had a part in it, it felt more controlled. The art is really great, the eyes of the cat following the mouse cursor is a nice touch. The sound effects were great too, it really made each item feel "real".
Great work, thank you for your game!
Nice concept. I liked how you put a very simple idea of task attribution and found ways for the player to make decision matters. The AI generated portraits are cool and made me want to experiment with styleGAN too! The game could use a bit more feedbacks to help understanding the rules at first, the first tries are a bit cryptic. This was fun! Thank you for your game!
Nice entry! I liked the diversity of the level design and the way you introduced new mechanics along the way. It was a bit frustrating sometimes to have the mouse blocked at the edge of the screen and therefore do a weak dash. It could be interesting to add an option to "cancel" a shot if the mouse button isn't released.
Audio is the strong part of the game and the integration to the gameplay is very well done.
Good job, thank you for your game!
This is indeed a fun take on the theme! You managed to capture those adrenaline moments where the ball is falling to the wrong direction and you tilt the table like crazy, sometimes it help, sometimes not. I was afraid the game was gonna be way easier with this gameplay mechanic but boy I was wrong!
I do feel like sometimes the ball physics behaved a bit weirdly (when shaking the mouse fast). Regarding graphics, the 3D is nice, and I liked that you added some additionnal tables for the "pub" mood. Audio was a bit underwhelming, pinball table are know for their crazy audio sound effects and musics and the comparaison is difficult to hold for a game made in 48hours.
I would love to play different tables with new level design!
Thank you for your game!
This has so much potential, really good work! I managed to reach the 2nd floor :) I do feel like it's a bit harder than it needs to be, maybe each floor is a bit too big?
The RNG element is quite punitive as you can sometime enter a room with no other exit than where you came from, and holes preventing you from going further.
Maybe an item like a ladder that can be looted and that allows the player to cross a tile (and consume itself in the process) could be nice to give more chance for the player to control the map generation.
Displaying the number of gems and the "cost" of each chest could be good too as it's a bit disappointing to make holes everywhere to reach a chest that can't be opened.
I was also surprised that items such as the map didn't persist from one floor to another, I thought it would be a great way to reward players who took time to explore the place.
I really liked the game, I hope you'll keep working on this because this has the potential to be a really fun game with lots of depth!
Good work and thank you for your game!
(I forgot to compliment the art. It's really clean and polished. Well done again)
Nice game!
I like the story and nice touch for adding introduction and end game cinematics for a game jam!
The platformer is simple but efficient, it took me some time to figure out why my abilities were unavailable sometimes, I like fact that it is linked to our mental health but I think it needs a better feedback. My biggest complaint is that collisions are a bit rough.
I liked your approach with level design, providing multiple viable path to the player. I also liked how you introduced new level design bricks through the game. The level art changing through the game was a nice touch too and gave a good feeling of progression (same for the music). The punch animation at the end was rewarding!
Well done and thank you for your game!
Nice entry. I think you got the gist of the early game of an incremental/idle game but as you said yourself, it needs more mechanics to have a more balanced playing time. Your idea is good and this is a nice proof of concept that can be developped further. Well done!
Nice game!
The indirect control of the boat is a great idea
As said above, more barrels could be useful. I could see them flying above me c but couldn't understand how to reach them. Using them both as a steering device and as fuel is a good idea though!
Graphics are really great! The city is impressive and it's a real reward to see it all when you reach the top of a building.
I like the idea too and the physic aspect of the platforming, I do wish there was more elements to use on the buidings as a support or help for climbing up (balcony for exemples?) I think I also discovered a gamebreaking strategy when looking down+jumping+spamming pickup/release, you can go really high without any structure.
I also liked the sandbox aspect of your game where you let the player chose his own objective and achieve it in the way he wants. Powerups where a nice touch.
It was fun thank you for your game!
The difficulty is harsh, but I really like the concept and your executions. The mechanics you added from level 2 to 3 are all interesting and fun. Graphics are really good too, I really liked the drones carrying the glass window :p Well done and thank you for your game!
That was very fun, the mix of vampire survivor with exploration mechanics works well, and the feeling of progression is great. Trying different build is fun. I encountered a crash on my third game with the fist maxed out and the lifeSteal power (memory out of bound). It took me some time to understand I could walk in water at first so my first game was a bit slower. I think displaying the health of the meteorite at the end could be good too to understand how much you need to improve to beat it.
Great work, thank you for the game.
Hi @clement-sparrow thank you for you feedback. This looks like a bug, did you experienced this UI issues with the web version? If so, are you playing on a high resolution monitor? If you had the credits, you reached the end. We didn't have time for more content for a second run:)
This is really cute! Thank you for this! Wish it had some music and sounds to go with the beautiful graphics. To encourage replayability and trying different endings, I would have liked a "skip intro" option at the beginning. After 3 tries I got the good ending :) It was cool well done!
A great take on the theme. But most of all the gameplay is really impressive, it's really well thought and works really well. Everything is polished, and the tutorial is the cherry on the cake. I don't have a lot of thing to say about this entry, it's just a great game. Well done!
I definitly didn't expect an undertale parody about pooping. I loved the fact that you took this stupid premise seriously and went with it with a total dedication. I admit I a bit surprised at how much I enjoyed this entry. Everything felt coherent, the character design are all really expressive, really that was great thank you!
Had fun with this, definitly surprising the first time I saw a snowman explode. Then got eaten by an orca. Then mean penguins. I don't understand everything about this game world, but I guess it sucks to be a snowman.
I didn't really understand what happens when I press "E", and there where some bugs here and there (like the game not properly resetting after a gameover), but overall it was funny, good work :)
Great mood, great graphics as said above. I liked how each upgrade felt unique and impacting. The feeling of progression is so satisfying here. I had some issues with the controls, especially after unlocking the wheels, I often struggled to go where I wanted. The shader when we are in the shadow is nice but a bit strong sometimes, it was hard to see how to go further when in the shadows. The UI is beautiful and elegant. Animation is great, the music choice is really nice, that's a really great job. Well done!
A game everyone can relate to. This is really fun. I liked how the fart particles followed me and reacted to me. The AI felt surprisingly smart? But maybe my own guilt for talking to them innocently is playing tricks with my percpetion. I would have like to see my scores in real time I think, but otherwise it was a very fun and stupid entry. Well done!
As most comment said, the art is really great. The effect on the glass is really good. Animations are also very cute, you get really attached to this little robot. I liked the destructions effect and the different part of the ship you could repair. I felt like it lacked a score of some kind ? Like maybe a timer to see if I played better than my previous game.
Great work, well done
This is a great idea, I love games where you can be creative as a player, and the way you did that is great! I feel like maybe displaying the health of each character and the heart'health could help understand what kind of drawing is more efficient. The old computer program effect is great, and mrFilton is quite fun. However as a non native english speaker, I struggled a bit trying to understand the synthetized voice. Maybe add subtitles if you have the time next time:)
I had a lot of fun, and I would definitly come back to this to try new drawings later. Thank you for the game!
I love this mood. Playing chess with death is such a strong image. It's a really nice touch how you introduce each mechanics with a smooth progression and even a tutorial, well done! I was a bit surprised by the way the pawns cover their tiles, it felt a bit too powerful. The level transition was cool, I liked the switch tile effect. My only criticism is that appart from the text at the beginning, it felt a bit disconnected from the theme. Otherwise it was a very good puzzle game, well done!
Really nice game! Gameplay is simple but fun, great sense of progression with powerups. The gun is a bit to far from the character hitbox, so sometimes bullet don't hit ennemies that are too close. Other than that, I had a great time, it's a very good entry! Well done :)
Great game! The mood is fantastic, the retro effect is perfect. The "twist" at the end when you get all the science is perfect and makes the whole gameplay experience. I didn't expect the gameplay to be about optimization and it was a pleasant surprise.
My principal remark would be that energy is spent when clicking and not depending on the distance/speed. Once I understood that, I started cliking outside of the gameplay area to reach further while spending less energy.
Audio is great too, brings everything together. Well done!
Really like the mood of this game. Managing the needs of every creature is somehow "relaxing" even though your slowly overwhelmed by tasks. Well done.
I had a few remarks: - I didn't understand at first why I had free resources every now and then, I think it needs to be clearer in game. (if you continue the game further, maybe each creature type can give you a specific resource so you can have a strategy about wich creature to keep/sell). - The "info" screen is a really nice touch! if you do a "typing" effect on the text however, I'd recommand to align the text to the left instead of centering it, as it makes reading more tedious while the text is appearing.
Good work! Thank you for the game :)
Nice flip on the classic snake game. I liked the slow build up of the difficulty. I think the camera movement is not necessary as it cause to much movement and detracts from the visibility of the game. I liked the fact that you have the same sprite than regular pellets, it forces the player to move to remember where he is, therefore putting himself in danger. That was a nice entry, well done! After a few tries, managed to reach around 200 score, pretty impressed that some people got higher scores ^^
I'm not a cat person (I know). But god this is really cute. And stupid, but mostly cute. Great cat physic, difficulty is well balanced, one of my favourite entry so far! Well done:)
Really fun entry! Strong katamary damacy vibes, I was so happy when I discovered I can pretty much push everything. As said above, building a the biggest ball to push is fun! The art is quite nice, I think the music could have benefited from beeing less "calm" and more wacky. I had a few bugs with physics, where I would sometimes be projected in a random direction, but nothing too gamebreaking. The volcano animation at the end is great too! I love how the "inevitable" really is inevitable, as the amount of item is limited. This was great thank you!
Cute game! I liked the variety of situations and interactions you have. The art is cute and sound effect are fun. The dodo facts after each death is a nice touch. Well done!
This is really cool! The player design is very elegant, with the health bar represented in the center. Animations and shooting on the music beat was great too, it set a great mood. I think each round is a bit too long as it is (you wait a long time before the first upgrade) and enemies can sometimes spawn very close to you, but otherwise this was a fun arcade game!
Brilliant idea, the gameplay works really well and art is so good! I think it's a bit easy right now (I stopped playing after 15min and Bario still had 8 castles to cross, full of garrisonned unit.
Is there a difference between green turtles unit and spikes? I tried to alternate between them for the sake of "level design" but wasn't sure if it had a purpose.
It really feels like an idea you can expand infinitly, with "powerup mushroom" you have to put in some structures that will buff Bario, teleporters, and all the classic Mario features twisted from the perspective of Bowser.
Great work!
Great entry and hommage to retro platformers boss fight. The boss design are inspired, each one telling the "story" subtly. This was great well done.
Didn't know about simple harmonic motion, thank you for the link in the description. It is indeed a really interesting idea for a movement mechanic. I think once you understand that you can "cancel" the wave by the line against the movement (not sure if it's clear) the game become a bit too easy. It's really innovative tho and I would love to see this idea explored further. Well done!
A great idea. The fact that the game ends if you do what you're supposed to is a brilliant idea to encourage exploration. The lore is great and as said above connecting the dots is very pleasant. The mood is perfect, art & music working really well together (strong MassEffect vibes, now I want to play it again =/) Well done!
This was a fun entry! I liked the variety of ennemies you managed to put in the game, each with their own pattern. I'm not exactly sure what triggered the "level up" but I would have liked to level up faster in the game I think. I got to a score of 81 and didn't feel that much powerful than at the start of the game. Staying in the yellow square is a good gameplay mechanic and the scaling/movement of the square makes it even more interesting.
Good job to the team!
It took me a while to understand what to do, the instructions says to press "Space" to cast a spell, but I doesn't work unless you select a spell first (wich I didn't at the beginning). I think right now it needs better UX, (took me some time to see the panels when clicking on stuff, maybe add it to the description?) but the game has a lot of potential once you understand the mechanics, and it looks like it has a lot of depth.
Graphics are nice, it reminds me of old flash games and it really touched a nostalgic side of me :). Seeing the tribe slowly evolve and growing is really satisfying too! Well done!
