LD28 — You Only Get One

ONE - Obscured Nonphysical Expanse by ChronusZ 2013-12-18T01:14:00

Quite interesting. Is there any point to it, though? Or do you just walk on forever? I lost interest and gave up after about 15 minutes.

I wish the draw distance was a little larger; I felt like I was chasing a white square the whole time.

Sound was eerie, but not very present.

Duck Pond by handCraftedRadio 2013-12-22T17:27:00

Very difficult, but not in a bad way! Played until my fingers hurt :), got 710 points. There seems to be an invisible wall at 3 ducklings, any more makes it impossible to dodge enemy birds. Very nice gameplay, but I didn't think the graphics were too hot and it could have used some music. Well done.

Bitmo Pirates MMO by josefnpat 2013-12-17T04:49:00

Quite good! I found it a little hard to focus on, with so much text. But I suppose that's the nature of a game like this.

I am very impressed with how quickly you were able to do this. A whole database, backend... bravo!

I do agree with 01rafael... would love to see this as a web game.

It took me a little while to get into the game, my login code didn't work for the first few times I tried it.

Definitely one of the more impressive submissions here. Congrats on finishing and thanks for sharing!

Penguin Feeder Simulator 2000 by Jerre 2013-12-17T20:27:00

Quite fun, and like nothing I've ever played before.

The graphics worked fairly well for what you were trying to accomplish here.

The audio was pretty nice, and even a little humorous.

Well done.

One Door by godan 2013-12-17T14:52:00

Wow, a stunning entry! I played through it several times, and each time I was intrigued.

The art is very well done, and the audio fits the mood of this game nicely. I was amazed by the quality of assets you were able to create in this limited time.

Sometimes I could pass through doors and they wouldn't take me somewhere new.

There's no good indication that you've reached the end; I assumed when there were no more doors I reached it.

Gods of Baloo by timtipgames 2013-12-17T20:15:00

Very impressive! Enjoyed it very much. I encountered no immediate flaws. Well done!

The One Facility by swinestudios 2013-12-18T03:10:00

I couldn't get passed the first level. Having one of each block fits the theme well, but really makes this style of game impossible. There's very little room for error and having to close/reopen the program every time you want to restart is very annoying.

On the flip side, the audio is very pleasant, and the art style suits the game.

One minute to see the world by pinion 2013-12-17T20:38:00

Wow, this is really impressive! So many individual squares and still very efficient. Well done!

This game is very visually stimulating, but it leaves me just wondering what is even going on.

Some audio would have been really nice, but silence is okay for this game.

It would be cool if there was some way to win, rather than just trying to see how far you can get.

Well done!

Ye Only Get One Aye by TaleLore 2013-12-17T14:45:00

Spectacular graphics! Loved the audio, too. Very funny :)

Gameplay is a bit repetitive after a very short while. For some reason no matter when I tried to say "aye aye" I lost, but when I didn't say "aye aye" nothing ever happened.

Abandon Ship by TnT 2013-12-18T03:05:00

A pretty interesting game. It didn't lag at all for me. Shooting was a bit annoying because I kept dragging the screen to do so. Graphics were pretty lacking, unfortunately. It really could have used some audio, as well. Even so, it was quite fun. Congratz on finishing!

Loot of the Forest by moop 2013-12-17T15:17:00

A very fun and unique little puzzle game. It was short and sweet. Art suited it, items were fairly funny, audio wasn't annoying (but would have liked some music).

My only complaint is that (as funny as they were) I had no time to remember which item went to which gaurdian. It would have been better to just display the picture of the gaurdian the gift goes to at the bottom, so I can figure out what I have left with a glance.

The Lonely One by cudabear 2013-12-17T21:38:00

@JaymeeMak, which browser are you using? It should work in modern Webkit browsers and Firefox.

One Life, One Baby by Kyle Mac 2013-12-18T03:18:00

Stunning visuals and hilarious recordings. It was almost a pleasure to have to restart because I got to hear a different voice clip.

Gameplay itself was a little lacking, since it is nearly impossible to drop down from the boxes where enemies are. In addition, the final boss was laughably easy compared to the rest of the game.

This is a fun little game and could be expanded out with more love and time. Great work!

The Adventures of Yogo by Lazdo 2013-12-16T03:06:00

Very solid platformer. I enjoyed the fluid control and was able to quickly get antiquated with how to play. I had no idea you could glide on my first run, though.

What really made me mad about it was the fact that the game restarts upon death/running out of time. I didn't manage to beat the third level because of this.

The theme application was a little weak; especially coming off of a ludum dare themed "10 seconds". Still, it is acceptable.

Invalid Identity by Borkpaladin 2013-12-16T23:18:00

This is a great application of the game. You even gave time to justify the one bullet, I like it.

Graphics are a bit annoying. The ray-casting sight works well, and the particle effects are nice, but its really hard to navigate anywhere. It would be nice to see the layout of the level, even if we can't see enemies outside our sight range.

The text got a chuckle or two out of me.

The music is nice, but I honestly muted my speakers for actual gameplay. The footstep noise becomes bleating after a short while.

This is a solid entry. It seems very polished and I quite enjoyed playing it.

A 'Hunter, Gatherer, Whatever' Story by Fogs 2013-12-17T20:33:00

A nice, fun little game! It' brutally hard, though.

The graphics were extremely well done, good job! Animation looked fluid and natural.

Gameplay was quite nice, though I'm not so fond of the floaty feel to stopping and turning.

Audio could use some work, there's only a small collection of effects.

Overall, enjoyed playing and would play again :)

Lazyman Makes a Sub Sandwich by alexc 2013-12-18T03:22:00

Very fun little point-and-click adventure. It's very linear, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Loved the visuals and the music fits the game nicely. The story even got a few chuckles out of me.

$1 Hero by Microfrog 2013-12-16T23:07:00

I love the art style! Very unique.

Sound got a little repetitive. Some music would have been nice, but a style of which matches your game.

Gameplay is quite fun, but a little slow. It would be nice if it scales faster. Also, there is no penalty for spamming attack until you have to jump. In reality, it defeats the attack mechanic.

I quite like how this fits the theme.

Overall, a fun little game. This is a game I would enjoy playing again.

G.T.F.O. by Centhra 2013-12-17T04:33:00

It's a quite nice platformer. The controls are very solid and it's quite fun. It didn't seem very "spacey" to be so enclosed, though. Especially with the space-like physics.

On the (I think) third level there's a massive leap-of-faith moment. I hate leap-of-faiths.

The application of theme was more of a hindrance than interesting or innovative. I wound up mashing R when I was about to fall into the acid because I knew it would be faster than dying and going back to the main menu.

Audio was quite good; didn't become headache-worthy like some games.

Graphics are very well done. I do question why we can see space through the windows and not around the ship, though.

Overall, very nice. If there were more levels (with maybe a bit more jumping room) I would gladly play them.

Legend of Wohne by shard123 2013-12-18T01:29:00

A very fun little rouge-like. This could do well with procedural generation, if you add it in the future. My only complaint is that its disappointingly easy, particularly the final boss. Even so, it's a nice little game and could be expanded to so much more. Well done!

One Button Metroidvania by mokesmoe 2013-12-18T03:28:00

This is a unique take on a platformer. It's very difficult, but I was able to make some progress. It would be nice if there was some audio to provide feedback when actions are performed.

Pay Back by DalsGames 2013-12-17T20:20:00

Quite good. A little short, but understandably so. The game play was fast-paced and pretty funny. The graphics could have used some more love, but the audio was pretty good. Well done.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Ant World by DanEEStar 2014-04-29T20:47:00

A nice little game! This would be a fun mobile game.

Kitsuni by SecondDimension 2014-05-01T20:13:00

Wow, this game is amazing! I can't even think of anything to add, because it seems like you thought of everything! The puzzles were intuitive but still took some thinking, the mechanics were cool, the controls were easy to use. The graphics and audio of this game are absolutely amazing, and all the little detail you added really showed your dedication to this entry. Well done!

SubChase by theplotlessplot 2014-04-29T22:30:00

Pretty neat little game. Reminds me of the mini game in Spy Fox. I would suggest having an option for arrow-keys to control the sub, as using the mouse is pretty hard. Also, if you slow down to 0 on the surface, the game basically becomes impossible yet the monster slows down... strange.

Deep Sea Joyride by Exergy 2014-04-29T13:43:00

Pretty interesting idea for a free runner under water. My problem was that it was way too easy and then it just suddenly got nearly impossible. The collision on the fishes was a bit too large, making it unforgiving to try to maneuver around them. Graphics and audio were very good, but nothing spectacular.

Escape from beneath by skyr 2014-04-29T19:45:00

Loved this game! It was to see a game that encourages exploration and revisiting of areas. The platforming controls were responsive, and there was a nice variety of mechanics. The lighting effects were nice, and overall it's a very good looking game. My only complaint is the falling platforms, until you have the jetpack it's impossible to jump when they've started falling, which makes the one part with the platforms over the pit annoyingly hard. Other than that, well done!

Darkness is Scary by Tom Rijnbeek 2014-04-29T19:51:00

Loved this little game! Very nice little idea for a puzzle game. Unfortunately, though, several of these puzzles were really easy. I was able to beat a few of them with a single switch of a light, whereas there were multiple switches I didn't use. The idea was very solid, though, and I was happy to see so many levels! Shame there was no audio, though. Well done!

Black Bile, Inhuman Circuits by RobotParking 2014-04-29T14:31:00

This was... interesting. You got a few chuckles out of me, but for the most part your writing was pretty disgusting, which is more of a complement than an insult, based on the subject matter. The music in the middle seemed really out of place, but it was nice to hear something more than silence for a bit. Pretty short for a text game, would have liked to see more branching paths.

Chacket Valleyparker: DRILL BUNNY by stvr 2014-04-29T20:37:00

Very nice little game! It seems like you had a great idea from the start and you stuck to it, so I applaud you for that. The game itself is a little easy, at 20,000m down I still had no problem. It seems like your idea for worms and moles could fix that issue, though. Still, a very fun little game! And props for using phaser :D

Kraken's Island by GreenyUk 2014-04-29T20:02:00

Wow, a very fun game! I loved how fast-paced and chaotic it was. Maybe there could be some more scaling (like introduce tools one at a time) but as a proof of concept this is perfect. The difficulty scales nicely.

Loved the art and particularly the music, nice little pirate jam!

It seems that you left a debug function in, because right-clicking lets you spawn pirate ships. If they exist outside of the actual game (like in menus) the game crashes. I just ignored this and played the game, though, and it was fun!

The Last Penguin by Pinktreeleaf 2014-04-29T20:09:00

That was... weird, to say the least. A little distasteful, too. But hey, who am I to judge? It was funny... in a weird way. Audio and visuals were nice, too. Not really sure how it fit the theme, though.

Mayoran by zorfmorf 2014-04-29T20:16:00

Quite a nice little game! Enjoyed it very much.

Ghostlord Depths by HelixFox 2014-04-29T15:10:00

Loved the feel of this game! Gameplay was solid, art was beautiful, and music was very fitting. The only complaint I had was the first level got stale really fast after fighting the boss and dying. It would be better of the enemies sought you out rather than just waiting for you to come. This feels like a solid start for a much bigger dungeon crawler. Nice work!

Trash Rolling Turtle by Tititesouris 2014-04-29T14:09:00

Pretty decent free runner. The collision detection is a bit unforgiving. I'd love to see the "barrel roll" mechanic be a press-and-hold type thing, where your stamina goes down as you hold it rather than it just being a one-time use. The difficulty of the game scales well, but after a few minutes it just becomes impossible because of these two things. Fixing one of them would greatly extend potential play time.

I really liked the messages each time you died, very informative. Made me want to play more just to find out what else there was to learn.

Audio was very nice. The swimming tune was peaceful and the death tune made me feel bad.

Overall, a fun little game. I would love to see the changes I suggested and maybe a mobile port!

CTS by Ping78 2014-04-29T22:34:00

I hate spiders! This game reminds me of Penumbra, actually. There's no real challenge to the game, I just ran by the spiders. Even so, it's a pretty solid game!

Doug: The Endless Digger by 5T4MP5 2014-04-29T14:24:00

Fun idea! I liked the concept, but the game itself is nearly impossible to play. The camera moves way too late... since the only way we go is down or left/right, why do we so much above us? The death detection seems poor, I would die randomly even though I didn't touch any bombs. I also crashed the game twice (from flinging blocks, I think). The graphics are... poor, to say the least. Loved the humor though, DOUG DIED DIGGING! I'd love to see this polished up a bit and released as a mobile game! Good work.

Dig! by Newt_ 2014-04-29T21:28:00

Not a bad little game. I had fun finding all the different items. I liked the leaf, could have sworn it was a piece of furniture like in Animal Crossing :P

Defy Hades by MyrddinsOwl 2014-04-29T22:07:00

Really loved this game! It's an awesome proof of concept for a much bigger platformer. It was a shame to see it end so soon, but I guess the levels you made were good enough to prove the potential for this game. The graphics and audio were awesome, but it was a bit annoying to have the sound restart every time I died or passed the level. Also, controls were a bit floaty (particularly on slopes) Well done!

Upside Down by simon02 2014-04-29T13:56:00

Unfortunately, I couldn't get passed the very first level. I have a feeling it was broken; the moving platform didn't go completely over the spikes. The idea for this game is very novel, but the execution could have been better. The left-right movement is very glide-y yet the up-down movement is very choppy. The graphics are pretty lacking and there's no sound. This could be a pretty good game if you polished it up a bit more, but for now it's a little rough around the edges. Still, well done for your first game.

Crucitas adventures by The-nameless-kompany 2014-04-29T22:10:00

A nice little puzzle game. For me to, it kept looping through the same two levels. I would love to see more content.

Badass Pinguin by theundeadwarrior 2014-04-29T14:39:00

Nice little infinite runner! It got started a little quick for me, and took me a little while to figure out, but once I did it was pretty fun. Others have mentioned this but the platforms are very hard to see, particularly underground. I love how the underground functioned as sort of a "second try" and it would be nice to see a method to recover back to the first level again. The art was stunning in this game, particularly the music! Very well done! I didn't like how bridges make you fall, so functionally they're basically just gaps. Overall, very nice little game. Quite fun to play!

Fridge Magnetism by pixelpig 2014-05-01T17:50:00

Wow, this is a crazy silly game! Controls were a bit rough, as was collision. It made it kind of hard to tell when was hitting/being hit. Still, a very nice proof of concept! And very nice music, too!

Cave Escape by gamengineer 2014-04-27T23:36:00

I get stuck in a block about 4 levels in

Lemon Miners! by Asuna 2014-04-29T14:20:00

I like the idea of this game! It reminds me of Dwarves! In play style. That said, the controls are really hard to use (right-clicking is soooo slow) and once you hit water it basically will end you, because it's hard to react in time. The graphics are pretty poor, but nothing unbearable to look at. Not bad for your first entry, would have loved to see some audio though!

The Mole You Know by Mandlebar 2014-04-29T13:49:00

Very funny! I liked the way you introduced the character and thereby made it a tutorial. The graphics weren't terrible, but weren't incredible to stare at. The game play was pretty cool, but there's no reason to not just spam the spacebar over and over again, which made my thumb tired. It would have been much better to just be able to hold it down since there was no cooldown on the attack anyway. The difficulty scaled really fast, I got to 120 moles and instantly died. Pretty fun game, well done!

Sand Runner Arena by Sparrow 2014-04-29T22:22:00

Quite liked this game! It's pretty short and sweet but could be expanded to so much more. It was so nerve-wracking at times! I loved the art, too. Full 8 way walk animations on the guy was pretty nice, and the worms looked good too. Plus the work AI was basically perfect! The only thing I would suggest is bigger turn radius for the worm, so it can be a little easier to dodge.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

The Salt Pleeease by ponk 2014-08-26T18:28:00

This is a really well designed puzzle game! It's intriguing and allows for many different kinds of puzzles, but is a little easy. I think some sort of time limit would make it much more tense!

REUNION by Skiddings 2014-08-28T13:14:00

A nice puzzle game! Very well designed mechanic and awesome level design! The game made me think to solve the puzzles without being overly annoying. Some audio would have been nice. Well done!

Bipolar World by havana24 2014-08-26T18:43:00

A perfect little bite-sized game! It was challenging but not annoying, and the story kept moving me forward. Excellently done!

We're connected by Yozz 2014-08-25T14:24:00

A nice little story-driven platformer! I was enjoying the story and gameplay, until the game froze after stomping the last Grompie. I tried again and couldn't progress. In addition, the collision detection on the Grompies is pretty poor, often I would get hit even when I hit them from the top.

Connected World Traders by LD_LAN_Party 2014-08-27T23:06:00

Wasn't able to start because MSVCP120.dll was missing :(

Micro-Cosmic by MicroChasm 2014-08-28T00:37:00

Very awesome game! The gameplay itself was innovative but left something to be desired. The mood was very apparent and I loved your interpretation of connected worlds. Well done!

HeShe by Manou 2014-08-25T14:15:00

Very fun little puzzle game! I wasn't able to progress passed the "use your brain" level, though. What a shame, considering I hardly had a chance to use the mechanics that you set up! Loved the audio and graphic design worked very well! I felt the characters got stuck on invisible obstacles occasionally, making it a little hard to control.

Monochrome by Retr0spectrum 2014-09-05T21:17:00

This was a very interesting platformer. I'm not entirely sure I liked how the teleporter worked, since it rewarded you just going around and tapping it to look for coins. Plus it punished you greatly if you used it to jump without actually needing to. Futhermore, going back to level 1 when dieing was pretty frustrating. The art style and audio, however, was awesome!

Black Box Bandit by BillToWin 2014-08-25T13:07:00

Quite a nifty little puzzle game. I felt it was balanced enough to be challenging but not too difficult up until about level 8. Then it became really hard to progress.

the static speaks my name by idovingx 2014-08-26T04:18:00

Wow, this was incredible! Despite the somewhat simple and cartoonish graphics, you managed to maintain an eerie feeling of despair. Lots of symbolism up in here!

Astro networking by CUB3D 2014-08-29T01:46:00

Interesting side scroller, but brutally difficult! It was hard to make it very hard at all. Controls also seemed dodgy.

Smugglers' Cave by Andrew Quartermain 2014-08-29T00:01:00

Interesting little game. It was pretty difficult balancing the boat on the right and the guy on the left. I found if you spammed s when picking up a box you could spawn multiple on the other side. Other than that, well done!

Ergo Syskevis by akirassasin 2014-08-29T00:08:00

Nifty little puzzle game! Sometimes it was difficult to get the numbers to change when I clicked. Maybe increase their click area?

The Catapult by OinkIguana 2014-08-26T20:28:00

Very nice game! For being so small it felt very complete! There was just enough work to be done without making it feel tedious. I'm curious to know what will happen to Stanley in the future, if you ever continue!

Humanity VS Samuel by ebolbe 2014-08-28T01:08:00

Um... very interesting, haha. The controls were pretty solid, though it was pretty pointless to dodge the flying heads when I realized they couldn't really hurt me. The audio was pretty funny!

FireBug by arbiccdheife 2014-08-26T04:13:00

Great flame effects, and I loved the screams of the enemies! Some music would have been nice, though. Platforming controls felt really broken, especially jumping. Controls made it hard to play (can't press D and F at the same time with one hand)

Worlds Collide by Rage Paint 2014-08-30T20:16:00

Very nice game! My only complaint is that I didn't have more time to build a longer chain of planets!

Adamantium Cyborg by TD5 2014-08-25T13:17:00

A nice little side scroller shooter! I found the movement to be a little cumbersome for my tastes, and the enemies just seemed to disappear halfway through the level. I made it to the boss, but was unable to defeat it because each time I died I had to redo the whole level! Awesome art and audio design, though the sound effects were a little harsh after a while!

The Maze Of Worlds by rd127p77 2014-08-28T00:47:00

This isn't bad for your first game! The collision detection was pretty dodgy and the controls could have been better, but you chose a mechanic and it turned out pretty well. I liked your interpretation of the theme, too!

The Guy Who Lost His Arms by Quetzakol 2014-08-28T13:29:00

Not a bad platformer! You incorporated a nice variety of obstacles so that it wouldn't get boring. The controls were nice and solid, and the graphics were well made. Nice job!

ET Invasion, Random Game by Anshzinc 2014-08-25T14:28:00

Pretty good for only a couple of hours! The flying physics were really well done. Only problem was that holding down or up and reversing direction resulted in pointing the opposite direction, not game-breaking but a little annoying. Very robust for what it is! Not sure how it fits the theme though!

Robot Attack! by DarkCart 2014-08-29T00:04:00

Clever little game. I enjoyed stopping the robots from getting across the map. However, I'm pretty sure I could just attack from any distance away. The controls also seemed pretty slow to respond.

BOLYGOK by Chaoslab 2014-08-28T00:58:00

This game reminds me so much of Myst! You've captured the feel of those games perfectly. I loved exploring and looking for items!

Fused by stoz 2014-08-29T01:42:00

Excellent graphics, interpretation of the theme, and little touches like the guys getting sad when they're apart. The controls, however, were awful! It was so slippery that it was nearly impossible to make the more difficult jumps!

LD33 — You are the Monster

Game with an epic plot by WebFreak001 2015-08-24T13:04:00

This is a cool little mechanic you've invented. It felt tricky but rewarding to steal things. The people seemed to like to stare at me a bit too much, so I mostly had to go in circles to keep them far enough away from the items to steal. Some feedback on how long it takes to steal things would have been nice (like a progress bar or something) and also the ability to start from the beginning of the current level after losing. Nice work!

Monster Possession by Clurect 2015-08-24T19:10:00

This seems like a good base for a bigger game. I actually wish there was more, this seems like it could make for a good game with puzzle and action elements.

HanniBall by snooze82 2015-08-24T19:02:00

This game reminds me of a mario party minigame, haha. Didn't have someone to play with but I had a good laugh for a couple minutes playing each character with a separate hand.

The controls feel a little abrupt, some acceleration/deceleration in a game like this would make it feel more out of control.

The collision with the floor seemed a bit odd, sometimes I was floating.

Great job making a 3D game in webGL in 48 hours!

Micromancer by radmars 2015-09-14T17:16:00

Wow, this is by far the best game I've played for the jam! I can't spot almost no flaw here, everything looks great, feels great, and sounds great. It's incredibly fun to cause so much destruction, and my only complaint is perhaps the level design is a bit too easy.

Darklord by lightsoda 2015-09-13T21:59:00

A good entry! The game looks great, you went for a good style and the music fits it nicely. The actual game play could use some work, as I was able to spam just about any unit (with the exception of the slow guys) and win handily.

No Credit, No Problem! by Razoric 2015-08-25T02:28:00

This is awesome! I loved Papers, Please so I was right at home with the mechanic you designed. My only complaint is that it was a bit to easy. It would be better with more pressing time constraints or more things possibly going wrong. Still, this is a great for the scope of Ludum Dare.

Graphics were simple but portrayed the scene well. Audio suited well also. And "Iam Nekkid" got me laughing for quite a while. Well done!

Coconuts by congusbongus 2015-08-27T13:40:00

I have to admit I had way too much fun playing this game. My high score was 10,400. At first, I thought you could just spam the inputs to throw coconuts, but timing it with the music is definitely important. Simple graphics that work well, tie this all together! Well done!

Volcano Charge by Pantelis Petsopoulos 2015-08-24T14:45:00

Very awesome! You took a solid mechanic and made a pretty fun game out of it. My only complaint is that judging the distance of a charge was very hard, perhaps it could be something you can hold to go further?

The graphics work well for the game, though sometimes it was hard to tell what an enemy was or if it was safe to attack it.

I love the sounds of the dinosaur! Got some good chuckles out of me.

Nice job on the game.

Frankenstein: Do-It-Yourself! by t4u 2015-08-24T15:26:00

Fun little RPG. I love the amount of customization you can do, choosing individual parts worked well if not for the clunky interface.

Combat really isn't engaging, and even first-time fights felt grind-y.

Audio was minimalist but worked well. Graphics also suited the game, though they looked as though they were something right out of paint. Because of the level of character customization in the game, it doesn't surprise me you made them simple.

I like your interpretation of the theme!

Well done.

TOMB SOLDIERS by MechanicMoon 2015-08-25T21:30:00

This is an awesome game! I loved the idea of controlling an undead army on a rampage. I didn't like, however, that the only way to control them was to kill one. It was really annoying because the zombies kept bunching up and blocking them by killing one would just split the group.

It seems like everyone has a hard time dealing with stairs, since the monsters and people kept clipping through them. That was the only problem I ran into though.

Good work!

Agent by solarexplorer 2015-09-13T21:32:00

Interesting, but somewhat boring. It really sucked to have to redo all of my progress when I made a wrong choice because I wasn't sure what the letters meant. It also sucked that picking the wrong thing is an instant gameover. I think it would be better if this was a choice type thing, where going against the flow is fine and has an end case. For the scope of the compo though, this works well and has a nice look to it. Well done.

Monster by SMASH BASH 2015-08-26T21:33:00

I found this game a little boring, the exploration is nice but the linear world means you can't really "explore" it. It feels quite empty at times, though the cities and ruins were cool. I didn't really understand the story, either, it's a bit hard to follow. Perhaps that's the point, though?

I did enjoy the floating controls, though. I had fun surfing on the hills!

Village Terrorizer by Flygamer101 2015-08-25T04:17:00

It's really cool to watch the village grow, haha. I didn't actually want to destroy them.

This is a weird game, because the objective isn't really compelling and the alternative is more interesting. It's actually a pretty good interpretation of the theme.

The lighting here is gorgeous, and the simplicity of the graphics really works. The music is a bit annoying after some time, however, and some sound effects would have been nice.

Monster and Hero by MSiddeek 2015-08-24T14:27:00

This was a well-designed little puzzler! I like how well-defined the mechanics were, though the stuff that had to be done quickly was a bit difficult because the movement seemed a little iffy (I think I had to be a at a full stop before the game would accept input to go to the next tile). But with a little trial and error I was able to push through.

I liked the story, though it fell a little flat in the end. The revelation was kind of like, "meh". But it was still a great use of the theme.

I like the stylized graphics, if not for the "monster" and "hero" being a bit out of place with the style of the rest of the world.

Well done!

Bumble's Quest by jcourt 2015-08-25T02:37:00

Unfortunately this game isn't very engaging, because the combat is pretty dull. I have no reason not to hold down Z and X the whole time and just run around in circles. Did you mean to deploy with the character having 500 health? It seems like healing/getting hit only takes 5-10 health whereas 500 makes me feel invincible.

Your interpretation of the theme works well. The graphics are simple but in a stylized way, so they fit as well. Audio works well for the game even if you didn't make it.

Just Another Mortar Monday by Dodechotomy 2015-08-25T02:14:00

The mechanic of swatting away the mortars works well and is quite fun! It's awesome to see if you can knock them back at the guys shooting them.

The game gets a bit dull after 5-10 minutes, I found myself bored once I got up to about 30 score and died.

The audio is a bit rough on the ears.

The graphics are simple and work nice for this concept.

Well done!

Hunter by dwoodbur 2015-09-13T21:39:00

Pretty interesting. Feels like the shell of a better game. I like the interpretation, but the implementation kind of ruins it. Nice z-indexing on the grass, that's nice. But not when the grass randomly disappears. I had trouble finding the zebra and had to track it down by using the debug information.

Sales of a Deathman by superfluous 2015-08-25T15:50:00

Wow, this was a blast to play! I had the most interesting mix of satisfaction and remorse when people's cars blew up. Then laughed when I found out the "seats ground to a hault" or the "wipers exploded". These are some seriously crappy cars!

I like the graphics but some variety in the people, like the cars are, would be nice! Audio is also a little too simplistic for my tastes.

My only gameplay complaint is there is a lot of arbitrary numbers to remember, I think it would be better if the numbers are on the screen at all time, since the real gameplay is in deciding whether or not to give them a decent car or go for the profit.

Uprising by Sparked99 2015-08-25T02:01:00

Clicking games always seem like more a chore to me than anything, I like seeing numbers get better, but, it gets old fast. This is an interesting take on the formula with the influence system, but I'm not sure how it fits into the theme. Regardless, I had a good time playing this. Well done on making a game in 48 hours!

Motherflipin' T-Rex! by mantis 2015-08-25T13:27:00

Haha wow, this game is amazingly fun! Perhaps I played a bit too long. It's just so fun to cause so much destruction!

How cookies ruined my life. by Suese 2015-08-24T15:43:00

This reminds me of the Family Guy bit where the Cookie Monster is doing cookies in the bathroom, haha. Excellent graphics, audio, and very polished. Mechanically, something is to be desired here, I feel like I could just keep spamming and never die. I also got my collision stuck somehow so all I had to do was run into people. Regardless, an awesome, funny game. Well done.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Agent Hooker by Phoenix849 2015-12-16T16:55:00

This game is incredibly awesome! It already feels like a full-featured release and you guys made it in 72 hours! I love everything about it, the music, the personality, the graphics, the gameplay. My only complaint is that the level design is brutal, I got pretty far but eventually gave up. I know you mentioned this flaw already, however. Well done! Can't wait to see the full release.

Snekklr by keepee 2015-12-23T17:00:00

I actually wish I had a friend to play with, because I can see a lot of potential for laughs here but I just didn't get it alone. You made a good attempt at making the AI, but it keeps eating itself, haha. Controls felt nice for being only two buttons, graphics are smooth. Good entry!

AVOID RINGS by misson20000 2015-12-23T16:57:00

It seems most of my complaints about this game you've resolved in the post-compo version, so I won't talk about them. However, I am not a big fan of the notched movement, it feels a bit restrictive and unforgiving. Even so, this game reminds me a lot of super hexagon and was quite fun. Well done!

Draygon Habitat by Gravity Games 2015-12-15T15:16:00

I was surprised by the level of content in this game, then I saw that over half the minigames and contents were unfinished. Even still, this is game is an awesome feat for 48 hours. I love how you interpreted the theme, this is just like the chao garden from the Sonic games. The interface is a bit clunky but gets the job done. It's also a shame there's not more than one minigame, as it gets a bit boring after a few times through. Even still, well done, and great music!

Giant Frog by pl0xz0rz 2015-12-18T18:37:00

I get what you were trying to do with the platforming, but it's really, really hard to do anything when you've got momentum-based controls and collision that brings you to a complete stop upon grazing a wall. I also didn't like how, when trying to trampoline up to the top of the right of the start, tapping the corner of the red block killed my momentum.

There's not a whole lot to this game. I assumed I was supposed to eat the flies until I was strong enough to kill the rats? That's a good progression, but I wasn't able to progress at all!

The art could really use some improvement, took me a long time to figure out the red tiles are springy. Frog and rat look decent and consistent, but the fly looks more like a butterfly!

Good interpretation of the theme, I just would have liked to be able to progress at all!

Great Nation by StuffBySpencer 2015-12-15T17:11:00

This was very fun! I was expecting some silly game but instead it turned out to be pretty cool. Shame there's not a whole lot of choices to make, and most of them are repeated. Loved the status updates though, really made it feel like what you were doing was making more of a difference than changing numbers. Graphics are a bit simple for me but complement the game, and audio is awesome. Well done!

Flutter by cudabear 2015-12-15T17:18:00

@Humanics, this is a bug with web input. Usually pressing the key again will fix it. Otherwise, try refreshing the page as your progress is saved via cookies.

Cultivate by kmakai 2015-12-23T17:39:00

This is a really complex game for the compo! There's a lot to do here and a lot of art to complement it. Well done! I liked the tennis and test-taking minigames. The only complaint I have is there's not a whole lot interesting about this game, other than deciding to help or deject Simon there's not much weight on your decisions. They're basically "Do good" or "do bad". Ah well, still a fun game to play through.

Upgrade! by Mettra 2015-12-17T03:08:00

Wow, this is an incredible entry! There's so much game here. The Wario-ware sections are awesome, and it's really cool to grow the robot. The only problem is the shooting sections don't involve a lot of skill or anything, just spraying in general directions. The graphics and audio are awesome, I particularly love the pitch-shifting you've incorporated here. well done!

High-rise Vine by Gipzo 2015-12-20T14:57:00

This game was very fun! We loved the co-op (more like competitive, actually) gameplay. Graphics are nicely done, consistent, and clean. This is a great use of both themes to make a very fun game. It would be nice if there was a better sense of progression as you play, I can tell it gets slightly harder but it's not super noticeable. Well done on your jam entry!

Vine Climber by careless 2015-12-17T03:01:00

This game was pretty fun, though I wish the controls were either a bit more tight, or the camera was further back, so I wasn't jumping blindly as much. Graphics are simple but nice, I like the animation on the character. Audio is nice, but I wish the looping wasn't so obvious. Well done!

SUPER PLANT FRENZY by Glint Games 2015-12-15T03:35:00

A solid entry! I got to 1500 points.

The graphics here are great, they really get the job done. The already great gameplay is really complemented by it. Well done!

Robot Boxing by Green Lightning 2015-12-18T23:51:00

This is a fun little game. I wonder why you made it end at 100 things? Might be fun to go forever. Well done!

BUBBLEGUM UPPERCUT! by Garris 2015-12-15T03:27:00

This game is very fun! It's a nice take on infinite climbers. I found the gameplay to be pretty balanced, but sometimes there were platforms that spawned very far apart from eachother, and I found it impossible to make those jumps.

Grow a Tree Roguelike by hd_ 2015-12-18T17:39:00

This is a very unique game! I loved the card system, though I wish you could save cards rather than having to pass them by. With some balancing, I think it could be even better. Well done!

Grow to the Moon by Joshua Stone 2015-12-18T18:56:00

Is that: Garden Party? That's a song I haven't heard in a long time.

This had me laughing the whole way. I love the scream, I love the music, I love how the scream fades out slightly when you enter space, I love you slam into the moon! Shame it's not really a game, though. Still, well done!

The Super Bros (that are not Brothers!) by Xinelu 2015-12-15T03:07:00

Gameplay was a little lacking, in the end this was a pretty basic platformer with two characters to control at once. Controls were a bit iffy, pressing A+D together while trying to also use them to move left/right is a bit cumbersome, though I know you were trying to fit the theme. As a question, why did you make a running animation for the title screen but not use it for the game?

Dragonic by jsmars 2015-12-15T17:27:00

The graphics and mood of this game are amazing! I love every bit of it. The actual gameplay is a bit lacking, mostly because it feels like there's some situations that are just impossible to avoid. Even so, well done!

The Rap Game by Rocketship 2015-12-15T16:19:00

Wow, this is really fun an unique! I love the idea of this game. Art and audio design was perfect for it as well. Would have loved a two player mode!

The Drunken Executioner by karlipoppins 2015-12-16T18:33:00

A solid entry! It felt really rewarding to hit the guy where the king asked you to, haha. The aiming felt a bit poor, sometimes I was waiting for several minutes for the aim to line up with where I wanted to fire. But I was usually able to hit the target (or near) when it did. The art gets the job done, but seems a bit sloppy (lots of anti-aliasing on text and assets, while none on other). Audio is nice, particularly loved the king's voice! Well done.

OH GOD NO by shcromlet 2015-12-18T18:30:00

What the hell was going on in this game?? I was so confused, then I kind of got the hang of it.

The game could use some balancing, i found it either way easy or way hard to stay alive, depending on where the enemies spawned. The hand coming down and blocking the screen also made it impossible to use the right side of the screen. Graphics are nice, great pixel work. Audio is missing a something, and the sound of the hand pushing the button is a bit grating. Overall, an interesting entry. Well done!

Boo's Adventure by JLET 2015-12-23T16:46:00

A nice little physics puzzler. The pace of the game is a bit too fast, the hamster flies around the screen too fast to really react to anything. It would be nice if you could fly off the top of the screen without dying, as well. nice entry!

Potatiana Jones by Ildfuglen 2015-12-15T18:42:00

This is an excellent entry! It was super fun, I do wish there were more levels! My only complaint is that some shots have to be made "in faith" because it's really hard to see where you're shooting.

Handshake Sim by fixedgerald 2015-12-15T02:57:00

This was surprisingly fun for such a simple game! My only complaint was that some levels were a bit easy. Perhaps some auto scrolling would have made it a bit harder?

Graphics were simple but got the job done. Audio was excellent!

Use of the theme(s) didn't really seem to be there, but I did like the tongue-in-cheek business commentary.

Well done!

Soylent Greenhouse by sararyCow 2015-12-18T19:10:00

I had a hard time getting anything to grow, couldn't quite figure it out. Even though, the graphics and audio were quite nice and I was able to plant some, helper plants, would you call them? Well done on your entry.

Chicken Pox (in space) by LilacLlama 2015-12-23T17:30:00

Well, it's a game. And not bad for your first entry, certainly! The controls could use some serious work though, it's too easy to get out of control. Some additional progression elements would be great too, such as getting harder over time. The "flap" sound was funny for about 10 seconds then pretty annoying. Unfortunately, there's not very much compelling here to warrant more than a few minutes of play. Still, well done on your entry.

The Parable of the Knight, the Clown and the Lawyer by cgriff 2015-12-18T18:44:00

This was a really well-done text adventure. I think it's the writing that did it! I wish there was more branching paths that didn't quite so obviously meet up again. Also, it's a bit of a shame that there's no real ending. well done!

Cat Scratch Fever by SusanTheCat 2015-12-17T02:13:00

This game just isn't really that fun. I think it's because hard to lose unless you intentionally try to. Perhaps it could use some balancing? The enemy cats could also block to make it more challenging.

Even though, good use of the theme. Graphics are simple but get the job done, even if it would be nice to see some kind of animations. Music is nice but sound effects are a bit grating.

Great job on finishing the compo.

Mail Girl by keyboardsan 2015-12-18T20:48:00

A simple entry. The difficulty in the game scales well, the rate it speeds up is nice. The gameplay is a good but the collision on the cars is pretty brutal, there were times I figured I'd miss a car but I got hit. Some invincibility time after being hit once would be nice, too! Had some graphics issues, particularly with the character sprite running animation. Sound effects left something to be desired. Well done!

Platforms (Two Button Controls) by markoburzan27 2015-12-15T04:52:00

Gets the job done. A robust platformer with an interesting twist, I like it. I think you presented some awesome mechanics (flying axes, portals) but didn't really use them in your level design to well. Audio was a pleasure. Well done!

Steve can't jump by ubgamerpro 2015-12-18T17:23:00

Loved the "space to jump" tooltip that lied!

I feel like this game would be much better if you were able to maintain momentum between jumps, and not get caught on the ground/ceiling so much. There were some parts where I thought it looked like a cool boost-loop thing and wound up just resulting in Steve bouncing against the walls and going nowhere. Despite this, it's a great entry. Well done!

Archangel by BeamKirby 2015-12-17T01:30:00

This game is pretty cool! One of the best uses of two-button controls I've seen, both fingers need to be doing something at the same time! Makes it pretty fun to dodge and attack, which also feels rewarding thanks to the awesome art. Some music would be nice, but the sound effects suit the game well enough. Well done!

Lumber Co. by Mattress 2015-12-17T02:18:00

Unfortunately, not a whole lot to this game. I like that you tried to replicate a number-growing game, but there's not much to do here. The cooldown on the axe button means I can't even spam click to grow my business faster, and after getting like 10 lumberjacks, I can basically hire lumberjacks forever because I can't hire them fast enough.

The graphics could use some work, particularly that black text on the dark colors was hard to read. Audio was not really there, but I'm glad you included a mute button.

Congratulations on finishing the compo!

Trick Shot by RadMcCool 2015-12-23T17:23:00

I really didn't get the color-changing cannon mechanic, it was more annoying than anything, causing me to miss shots that otherwise would have made it. Other than that, it was a decent little game. Some more levels would have been awesome!

Trimmer Tycoon by Oski 2015-12-15T15:23:00

This is an awesome entry. I found it plays a bit like paper's please, you're encouraged to work fast, but also penalized for making mistakes.

The scale of the game is a bit too low, I found it really easy to completely screw up some guy's beard even with subtle mouse movements, because the shaver takes off like 10% of the beard each time. I also think a pre-set color list might be better than sliders, because that's where I wasted a lot of time.

Audio is awesome and complements the setting well.

Well done!

Help!!! IM A CACTUS!!! by RadianINC 2015-12-17T03:20:00

There's a nice sense of progression for this game, I loved watching the cactus grow. The graphics got the job done, though the interface was pretty crowded. It would have been nice if the game paused while the upgrade menu was open, as well as the game communicating that you can only buy each upgrade once. I was having a great time, then I died without explanation? So that was the end of it. Oh well. Great job!

The Dancing Sunflower by aemiliu5 2015-12-17T02:53:00

I'll admit, I laughed when the sunflower exploded. This game is basically one big game of high/low, when the light moves you gamble on whether it's to the right or to the left. The more you get it right, the more you grow. It doesn't make it very intriguing, but the music is groovin'.

Super Scoot and the House of Ill Repute by Krafty 2015-12-17T02:39:00

This game was surprisingly fun for how simple it is! Only problem is, it's very hard! I think instead of starting the level over when you die, it might be better to start again where died. Audio was very nice, and the graphics (as tiny as they were) got the job done. Great work!

2 Roll by lawendt 2015-12-17T02:06:00

Amazing mood here! I loved the art and music style. The gameplay was certainly unique but lacked fine control. If the doors toggled rather than only opened when you pressed the button, I think it would be better. Overall, an impressive entry. Well done!

Grow Up by alexander0153 2015-12-18T18:27:00

This was a great use of both themes! I'm not a big fan of the art, it would look nicer if the plant was one long contiguous thing. Also, it would be cool if the plant turned as you pressed A and D, not just when you let go! Besides that, I'm glad you made an android port of this because it would be a great time waster on the go. Well done!

Let Me Explain by OwT 2015-12-15T15:25:00

Game doesn't load for me, I get a 404 in the console for "http://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/itchio/html/134575/Release/LME.js".

Let Me Explain by OwT 2015-12-15T15:34:00

Nevermind, it loaded for me after a while.

The mood on this game is incredible. It's dark and abysmal, I love it. The audio really suits the game, though I wish it was a longer loop, or less noticeable when it does. The graphics are really stunning, great job there. MY only complaint is the gameplay is a bit harsh, making the wrong decision even once makes you start over again, and there are lots of wrong decisions to make.

NO HOBO by Teren 2015-12-18T17:27:00

A decent entry, but not very fun. There's not much strategy to it but mashing the side that's longest, and the CRIT mechanic leaves a lot of your success chance up to RNG. Some progression would be nice, maybe upgrades you could buy or something.

Greatest physics-based game that doesn't use real physics by KunoNoOni 2015-12-17T02:02:00

Unfortunately there's not a whole lot to this game, after a few jumps I got bored. Some progression would be awesome, such as upgrades to help you jump further the next time. Graphics could be a bit more detailed than simple shapes, but communicate the game. Audio's a bit harsh, particularly when the ball is rolling (sliding?) to halt.

Growing Beat by David Cookie 2015-12-15T15:39:00

Audio is awesome, which makes sense! Graphics are simple but get the job done. Some difficulty scaling might be nice, right now I found the game pretty hard but I managed to power through. Well done!

Shaving Day : The Shave After Tomorrow by gloim 2015-12-15T04:13:00

Well, it's not much of a game. But it certainly is a game. The music does fit it well, and it's fun for a quick five minutes. There's not really any challenge to it, though.

Dude On Fire by voca 2015-12-17T01:24:00

This game looks and sounds awesome! Shame is, its too dang hard to play. It's mostly because I have such a short reaction period to judge what to do next, as well as the hitboxes on the obstacles being unforgiving.

Bad Pelicans by illraceyou 2015-12-15T03:40:00

This game is a little lacking in content. Took me about two minutes to completely beat it. Maybe additional levels would be cool? Even if they just scaled in difficulty. Otherwise, the controls took a little getting used to but seemed to add to the gameplay. Graphics got the job done, theme was well used for the controls. Well done!

Synergy Shakedown by danbolt 2015-12-15T16:30:00

This game is awesome in almost every way, but unfortunately not very fun. I can't determine any strategy for it, other than going in a circle and button mashing. Yet, it's a very impressive game, it oozes polish, Well done!

Riding on Cars! by SuperPokeunicorn 2015-12-17T02:46:00

I'm in a love-hate relationship with your controls. There's so much you can do with just one button it's hard to wrap your head around it, yet at the same time it feels rewarding when you do..

This game is pretty fun, if not a little to chaotic. I think it would be a little better a as an infinite runner type of deal rather than a stage-based one.

Well done!

Sphaera by J08nY 2015-12-23T17:42:00

It's pretty hard. The perspective is pretty disorientating, as well. I wish it would start easier and become harder later on. A pretty unique entry, but not a whole lot to do.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Existence by davisan 2016-04-19T21:32:00

Wow, I can't believe this game was made in only 72 hours! Everything seems so polished about it, from the gameplay to the art to the music. Everything fit together really nice and enjoyed playing through the entire game!

My only complaint is that the fighting felt a bit simple. I was able to just mash the attack key and win almost every fight. Even though, it felt really good to fight and beat up those stupid monsters.

Card system was a bit interesting but underutilized, I could see it being expanded into much more. Right now it's basically a way to disguise an otherwise linear progression system.

well done!

Nightshift by Aurel Bílý 2016-04-21T19:17:00

A ton of content for the scope of the compo! I was surprised how long the game went on for. And that's not a bad thing! You seriously nailed the style of an oldschool game with a modern twist here, from the music to the animations to the opening cutscene.

I wasn't a big fan of the brutal collision, input delay on swapping shapes, or bird-poop splatter coating my vision, but you seemed to have resolved many of these issues in the "easier" version. When I think of a bullet hell, I usually think of smaller hitboxes to make everything seem that much more "near death" than anything, so I think the smaller cat hitbox makes a lot of sense.

I like how all the cats hat their genuine uses, but the "loaf" cat really didn't have one. He couldn't even outrun walls sometimes. I also feel like there were some scenarios where it was impossible to avoid taking damage.

Overall, a very nice vertical scrolling shooter with tons of content, awesome stylistic design, and a great feel to it. Well done!

Double Army by abuzreq 2016-04-21T17:27:00

I really like this concept! It reminds me a ton of Dynasty warriors - ordering around creeps to do battle for you.

That said, what made Dynasty Warriors so great was the fact that creeps actively saught each other out to battle, and reinforcements always kept the battlefield active. Your game only makes it seem like you're merely there to escort troops from one side of the field to the other. Bring some over, let them kill some enemies, and repeat. There's not any real reason to shapeshift into the other side when you choose one side you want to win.

I think there's a ton of pontential in this game, but there needs to be a little bit more going on to provide a reason to swap sides (maybe creeps get suspicious the more you order them around?) and make the battle feel a bit more involved (maybe you can attack, too?)

My other complaints revolve around most of the feedback being provided via the tiny text at the bottom of the screen. Some unique animations for things like getting caught, changing shape, ect, would have paid off greatly!

Other than these suggestions, I really thought this was a unique and innovative entry. I had a good time playing it and with some iteration I think you can have a truly awesome game!

Cow Duck Fever by 16BitsOfAwesome 2016-04-19T14:16:00

A nice twist on the flappy-bird formula. I liked how you had to determine when to jump as well as when to shapeshift to the different sized hitbox.

I wasn't a big fan of not having any control over the height of my jump, I think it would be nicer to be able to jump higher depending on how long I hold down the jump button.

Graphics were lacking a bit, but communicated the mechanics well. Good use of the theme.

Well done!

Shape Quest by Levi D. Smith 2016-04-19T22:51:00

This game is proof that sometimes all you need is the ability to move in for directions and some collision to make a good game! I liked the different enemy types, it made for some tricky areas to get through. Art is clean and gets the job done nicely. Music was charming! Well done learning a new engine!

Transform! The Three Natures by cudabear 2016-04-20T16:15:00

Hi Morco.

To Respawn, press R. It's listed in the game but not on the description, I'll add it there.

Transform! The Three Natures by cudabear 2016-04-21T18:21:00

@Sir Magic

Were you able to press R to restart when you died, or did the game completely freeze up?

SandShifter by nesis 2016-04-20T15:34:00

This is an awesome basis for a first-person puzzle game! I actually really wish there were more levels, since it seemed like the levels you developed barely cracked the surface as to what these mechanics you designed could do.

I loved the art style, really suited the idea of shifting sand.

My only complaint is that it took a long time to walk between levels, ideally that could take less time.

Well done, a great entry!

Chaos by ezombort 2016-04-19T21:50:00

Very enjoyable, simple gameplay. I played on desktop, but this would be a very enjoyable mobile app. Got quite hectic when I was near death. Made it to 68 shapes! Well done.

Aeons Rest by Fumiko 2016-04-19T15:23:00

I love this entry! The world looks gorgeous, and I love how it generates and shapeshifts. Great interpretation of the theme!

Gameplay is seriously lacking, though. It would be nice to have more of an objective! Fighting feels a bit clunky. And since you can't die, theres not much challenge.

good entry, well done!

SuperFishAl by divegato 2016-04-22T15:22:00

A great entry! A few glaring issues, but quite fun otherwise. The art style is really nice, the audio sounds and feels right. The controls are a bit rough, but understand there should be a downside to being the bigger fish. Maybe that shouldn't mean turning as slow as it does, but it certainly made me turn into the first fish to get back on course.

Most of the problems I think stem from the whirlpools, they can shoot everything across the screen (me, enemies, other whirlpools) and cause everything to get kind of hectic, when the game itself is pretty calm. In a lot of ways it was hilarious and somehow didn't feel cheaty, but in other ways it seemed out of place.

A great entry. My Furthest score was 388!

Sky Panic by ladybenko 2016-04-19T15:27:00

A solid arcade scrolling shooter. Shooting felt great, dropping bombs felt great! Graphics are awesome. Sound is extremely repetitive and bleating, especially the shooting sound. I had to mute my volume! Would be nice if distance was factored into your score. Nice interpretation of the theme and well done!

Monster Punter by Obvious_San 2016-04-20T18:24:00

This game looks, feels, and sounds great. It's really interesting to try and figure out what the weakness of each monster is, both location and type of attack. The only real complaint I have about this game is that it feels a bit unforgiving, and it's easy to die several times upon encountering a new enemy before killing them. After that, not much changes the next time you encounter them. I made it to 900 points! Well done.

Eggplant’s Dynamic Chimerization by DAT.NOT.MY.GAME! 2016-04-22T16:10:00

There is an impressive amount of models and animations in this game! Everything seems so full of life, well done! The music compliments the game well, sound effects are perfectly used, and in general the environment is awesome.

The gameplay, however, is a bit strange. I guess I'm supposed to run around and hide until a door appears, and then the level gets reset and I do it again? It's not the most fun or engaging, and sometimes you get screwed over by the random shape-shifting mechanic. Rather than hiding with other creatures of your shape, it seems it's best to just hide in a corner.

This is a great entry that looks and sounds great, but has gameplay that needs some work. Well done!

Shift-Re by zagony 2016-04-27T16:26:00

This is an awesome little puzzle entry! The mechanics are robust and easy to understand, and the art style is really nice. One nitpick on the character sprite: it's usually nice to have the sprite face the way you're walking.

The level design here was simple and awesome. I really would have enjoyed to play more levels! But for the scope of the Dare, I think this was a good length. One thing I thought was strange: some of the levels seemed to rely on you needing to die, and respawn. Also, it seemed strange that the level didn't reset when you respawned.

A Great entry, well done!

Conjurer's Quest by Sir Magic 2016-04-21T17:41:00

The premise of this game is very cool! I like the idea of being sent on a quest with the ability to shapeshift into different creatures that can do different things. The art was simple but nice, though animations could have been a bit better. The audio was wonderful, I think I heard at least 4 different tracks, well done there! I quite like the twist ending, as well.

Now the bad: the gameplay is abysmal. You presented three unique forms of platforming, yet the human form is pointless, the dog form is used once in your level design, leaving the duck form to be used almost all the time. In addition, the collision on your platforms isn't very great, I was often clipping into platforms and getting stuck on the sides of them. I'm not to fond of the controls, either: I don't think you should have to be in the air to transform. I can tell you did this to prevent the player getting stuck in the ground, but I think that would have been preventable via other means. Finally, the left/right movement felt good, but the jumping felt really floaty. Some more acceleration via gravity would have paid off well.

In conclusion, a wonderful premise with charming music, art, and simple story but very unpolished gameplay. With some improvements on the platforming and more fleshed-out mechanics and level design, I think this could be a really, really awesome game! You've certainly got the building blocks in place.

Well done!

Son of God: The First Transmorpher by Gyfis 2016-04-19T21:43:00

A really good entry! At first I didn't like the button mashing, but as more forms became introduced I really liked the precision in controlling each form differently. Graphics look quite scary but suit the game, music fits it very well as well. Encountered a couple bugs (when panicing) that can force forms to behave like other forms. Well done!

Shape Escape by JoeManaco 2016-04-21T19:55:00

This is a super polished entry! With more content, it feels like it could be a complete game! But for the scope of the Dare, I feel like it had just the right amount of levels with just the perfect amount of challenge. The graphics were awesome, the audio was grooving and had a distinct style to it. I will admit I wasn't super sold on the mechanics of only being able to choose when to change movement types, rather than being able to directly move. But as the levels became more complex, I really appreciated it!

Well done!

yoel color defense by yoel1234 2016-04-20T15:39:00

I like this concept. It's interesting to have to pick and choose which color you're going to take to attack which enemies. Kind of creates a min-max situation where you have to think about what your next step will be.

The game is a bit rough, mostly because the collision for the player is where the mouse is, but the box is lower and to the right of that point. If the box was exactly where the mouse was, I think it would be better. I missed a lot of shapes because they were hitting the box but not the mouse pointer.

The audio is very groovy, I like it!

Well done.

Flattened by Madball 2016-04-22T15:56:00

A very innovative game! The puzzles were simple but interesting, controls felt nice. The mechanic is really cool, I like swapping from top-down to side and vice versa.

One problem I have is it's impossible to tell what's in the other dimension until you switch. Some art that indicates what's in the other dimension before you switch would be awesome! Right now, the strategy is just to look at problems from both perspectives until you find a way through. This could be improved if I could plan ahead.

A great entry, really fun to play and the most unique use of the theme I've seen so far. Well done!

Unbecoming by tomlum 2016-04-21T17:55:00

This was a very fun entry! I love how it starts off feeling as though it's a whole different world, and then you realize it was the child's imagination the whole time. Very charming.

The gameplay was very engaging, I liked how each form had a very specific use and I was encouraged to swap between them often. I think a bit of challenge would have been nice, I don't think it was possible to die or have to restart. But it was still awesome nonetheless.

I loved the feeling of this game, and the way your graphics presented the story without copious amounts of text to read. That said, I felt the graphics were still lacking a bit. Furthermore, I feel the particle effects were a bit TOO much. There were times where my entire screen was filled with nothing but particle effects.

Audio was pleasant. It did meld together into one white noise effect when a lot was going on. I loved the voice-over lines for the businessman attacks.

well done, a very fun entry!

Cactus Ray by neontropics 2016-04-20T15:58:00

This feels just like an old tile-based puzzler that you would find on DOS in the early 90's, like Chip's Challenge. And that's awesome! The puzzles were genuinely puzzling without being frustrating, and the mechanics were straightforward. My only complaint is that sometimes it was confusing as to why I died, as the enemies sometimes chose to move into my space (which is enough to kill Red Ray for some reason) when I was moving and other times they didn't. Avoiding collisions entirely helped negate this problem, but I still felt like sometimes I was either getting killed cheaply or was getting away with what should have killed me.

The music is super groovy! It's a shame you couldn't get it playing in the actual game.

Well done, a great entry!

Boat! by Kaffeefleck 2016-04-20T15:28:00

This is an awesome idea! It's a shame you didn't make any more levels. Still, a great game for learning a new engine and workflow. Well done!

Shape Escape by WeaverDeveloper 2016-04-19T23:22:00

A solid entry! I loved how it took time to plan and move around obstacles. It didn't really seem like the square had any unique purpose, however. The rectangle and the circle seemed to be able to get the job done on their own.

Graphics are nice, sound effects provided nice feedback on collisions and death. Well done!

The Un-Named Game about Shape-Shifting by QualityCatGames 2016-04-22T13:06:00

Hmm. Well, it's a game!

I think you've realized most of the problems with your game already, based on what I read in your description. So I won't spend too much time talking about the bad. How about the good?

This is your first Ludum Dare, and you decided to tackle it with a custom-made HTML5 engine? That's awesome! There's also quite a bit to like about this game: you've got nice state switching, functional menus set up the game, graphics that communicate what's going on.

Glad you entered the Dare! Nobody said your first entry had to be perfect, and I assume you'll only get better for the next Dare!

Monstershift by redwizard 2016-04-22T14:53:00

Hello, fellow Phaser user!

I really liked this game. It seems very polished, and the mechanic is both fun and simple to pick up on. Some tutorial text might have helped me realize that you fall through the red colored ground if you're not the red guy, but I learned that out pretty quickly.

One of the thing I didn't like was how floaty the jumping is. I think it's an easy hole to dig yourself into when designing a platformer, and I know I'm guilty of it as well. The jumping should feel quick, fast, and you should return to the ground quickly. Bonus points if you can control the height of your jump by holding the key down longer (like Mario).

I feel like the main progression was start as blue guy -> find red switch to turn to red guy -> find key -> exit the level. It would be a lot cooler if you had to transform back into the blue guy for some reason!

The game is very, very short. I really do wish there were more levels. But for the scope of the Jam, I think the two levels you did release were designed well enough to show of the mechanics you implemented, so this is more of a personal request than anything.

I really disliked having to go back to the main menu each time I died. It would be cool if the level just restarted. Also, the music probably shouldn't restart each time you restart. Also, sound effects would have gone a long way to improve the experience, for events such as Jump, Die, Land, Transform, ect. Try using http://www.bfxr.com/ to make some quick and dirty sounds to implement and you should be able to see (and hear) what I mean.

Overall, a solid entry with some noted problems. With some improvement and expansion, I could see this game becoming very awesome. Well done!

LD38 — A Small World

For The Love Of Money by KunoNoOni 2017-05-04T01:57:53Z

A nice, polished, simple platformer! Sometimes it's fun just to go back the old days where games were simple and do some jumping.

Thinks I liked: * Graphics get the job done. The rock and metalwork tileset works well. The lava looks really great, and the particle effects add a nice bit of polish. The character sprite isn't incredible but it looks like a guy jumping around, so it's more than sufficient. * Throwback feel to oldschool PC platformers of the early 80's. Captured the simple run-and-jump feel of the games of that era. * Collision box of the character felt right. I was able to brush against obstacles and hazards and it felt about right. * A variety of obstacles. There were some that required me to wait, some that required me to time a jump correctly, and some that required me to plan out a route. All well designed.

Things I didn't like: * Life system with no continues. I get you're trying to capture the 80's feel, but games from that era mostly added hard "game overs" as a cheap way to increase replay-ability. I doubt anyone remembers that mechanic fondly, and more of a limitation of the era. Especially because I don't have the time to regain my progress after hitting a hard gameover while reviewing many games, I dislike this design choice. Unlimited lives would have been a better decision. * Platforms moving without carrying the character. This just felt kind of unnatural and annoying. It wasn't even particularly hard to stay on the platform while it was moving, but because you move much faster than the platform, you basically just have to tap the movement key to stay on it and it was kind of annoying. * Black backgrounds. A simple solid static image of a background would have added a lot of depth over blackness. * The music is nice, but additional sounds for jumping/landing/dying/collecting coins would have made playing the game feel a lot better. * Floaty jumping. Tighten it up by increasing gravity on the jump. Also, allow me to vary my jump height by changing how long I hold the jump button down. * Lack of theme. I'm unsure how this is a "small world", except for me being trapped in a cave. * Not much mood. The lava effects get some work done here, but some extra detail tidbits like torches, spiders, pickaxes, ect would have helped here.

Great job on your entry and good luck with the competition!

Mouse and Blade by superpokeunicorn 2017-05-04T02:25:02Z

Wow! For a while, I thought I was playing on an NES emulator. The hard-as-nails progression, wimpy melee attack that requires precise timing, enemies respawning when just off screen, and flashing i-frames all come together for a wonderful and nostalgic experience with an impressive amount of content for for a Compo game.

What I like: * The graphics are awesome! The mouse looks cute and lively, the attack animation provides good feedback, the tileset is varied and provides some great mood, the backgrounds contribute to the theme, and the enemies are all well designed and fun. * An impressive amount of content! I was surprised when I saw 2 unique enemies, then I saw the third, and then a fourth! That's awesome for the time that you had. They're also all wonderfully varied and require different strategies to approach each. * The level design is great. It's linear but provides a great sense of progression through checkpoints, has a lot of horizontal and vertical elements, and a lot of fun ways to interact with the enemies. * Tight platformer controls. Not much more to say, a lot of people miss this. Bravo.

What I don't like: * Audio. The main music loop isn't terrible, and the death jingle is a nice touch, but overall it's kind of repetitive. Furthermore, a lack of sound effects for things like hitting, attacking, jumping, landing, dying, ect removes a layer of polish that would otherwise make the game feel even better to play.

This is an awesome entry. Well done and good luck with the competition.

Throw by somethinboutgames 2017-05-04T02:38:21Z

A fun little mobile or flash-game style physics puzzler.

What I like: * Throwing the ball felt right. It took a bit of getting used to, but after playing with it a little while, throwing my "little world" felt good and I like how it was sensitive enough that I could make twitch adjustments to my throws. * Level design. A very nice mix of physics based and obstacle based puzzles here. Very well done. * Menus. I love how you incorporated the menus into the game. * Graphics. The simple portal-esk aesthetic you went for here is very nice. I love the simple backgrounds and the art on the "world". * Audio. The music was very nice and the sound effects provided nice feedback of what was going on. * The ball doesn't snap to the goal, but rather gets "sucked" into it. This is a nice bit of polish.

What I didn't like: * my character wasn't animated. It almost felt unnecessary that I was even displayed, since I didn't move my arm when I threw. * The blind throw on level 8. Never very fun :)

I love what you've done here. Good luck on the competition!

Sunny World by Jungle 2017-05-04T02:09:11Z

An interesting and simple take on a god game. Pretty stressful to manage all 4 resources while making sure to defend against the asteroids.

What I liked: * Graphics are really nice. They did a great job of helping me jump right into the game and understand what to do. * Music was upbeat and cheerful, and suited the game well. * Controls were very simple and easy to learn. * The mood of this game felt great. I'm surprised to see you opted not to receive ratings on it.

What I didn't like: * Gameplay loop was a little too stressful and mixed to be fun. I always felt like I was in a loosing battle with one or multiple resources until I hit max food. Then, the population grew too fast and I just won. Also, just roating the planet wasn't too fun. * Random meteor placement made the game trivial at times or extremely hard at others with no way to affect it. * Metor hitting water or farms = instant death. Meteor hitting city = survive unless under 1/2 population. Interesting mechanic that seemed random and inconsistent with the rest of the game. Also made my experience feel needlessly fragile and that increased the stress level.

Nice job on your entry, and good luck!

The Little World by JayTord 2017-05-04T04:41:44Z

This is an interesting concept but is pretty lacking in content.

What I liked: * The core gameplay loop is simple and introduced to the player in a clear and easy to understand way. * The idea is pretty unique, I like the idea of maintaining the planet in real time.

What I disliked: * This game sorely needs visual feedback. It's impossible to read the text to know what stage of doing something you're on when the game speeds up near the end. I'd love to know if a volcano is clean or about to blow without reading the text. * The loop is very repetitive and not very satisfying. Rather than having the game speed up, it would probably be cooler to introduce more volcanoes or baobabs or maybe even more roses as the game progresses.

Great job on your entry and good luck in the competition!

Smallverse by Spiteful Fox 2017-05-04T04:52:39Z

A surprisingly high amount of content in a choose-your-own-adventure style game.

What I like: * The variety of worlds, races, and modifiers, is great! I got some funny combinations, such as one world where both "everyone was incredibly racist" and "everyone has neutron bombs". That was an instant-skip for sure! * That your decisions play into the new universe you build * The graphics for the worlds are nice and varied.

What I Don't like: * There should be a bigger breakdown of the universe I built. EG, what race is dominant? What is contributing to my final scores? * I wasted a ton of energy on worlds that just plain sucked or didn't have attributes I wanted because of RNG. Maybe every world should have at least some redeeming quality? * Selecting the worlds wasn't really all that fun. It might be more fun if my decisions played into eachother more than just the end, such as in "The Yawhg"

Great job on your entry, and good luck in the competition!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Power Stationed by ReboundGames 2017-08-06T02:02:49Z

A pretty difficult multitasking game that requires a lot of different mechanical skills and actually gets really difficult! It seems the strategy in waiting to buy things is largely overshadowed by the fact that the more expensive technologies are just way more profitable. The graphics do a great job of communicating to the player what they need to do! The audio was a bit simple, might have been nice to have a few more audio cues. Wasn't a great use of the theme I think, energy generation and earning money didn't seem like "running out of power" to me.

Travel by madsj 2017-08-06T02:36:57Z

This was a really great bullet hell style shooter. The graphics and audio were really amazing, really sold that scifi virtual kind of feel. The difficulty was hard, but it didn't feel cheaty. It took me a bit to figure out I could shoot, but that's probably just because I'm bad at reading instructions. I don't like that the game often forces me to downgrade my weapon, because only the blue weapon really seemed viable. Some kind of title screen would also be nice so I'm not just immediately dropped into the game.

A Miner Inconvenience by Nick Rafalski 2017-08-04T02:10:37Z

Permadeath and restarting the game wasn't so great, but the randomly generated levels made up for it in a lot of ways. Some levels generated ridiculously easy but most felt about right. The lava hitbox feels a bit cheaty, I died going over the corners of the lava sometimes. Interesting puzzle mechanics and the timer felt pretty fair all things considered.

The Day The Robots Attacked by jasperarmstrong 2017-08-02T03:18:24Z

It would be nice if the camera was zoomed out to the entire board so we could see all the threats and batteries. Also an audio cue on the robots attacking the emp would be great. Robots also sometimes spawned basically on top of me. Batteries blocked pathing sometimes - consider making them pathable. Core gameplay seemed really fun, difficulty was high but didn't feel impossible or too cheaty.

Bulbino's Quest! by alpenter 2017-08-02T01:31:00Z

Up and down movement felt a bit weird. Otherwise this was a wonderful entry! Great job!

Power Outage by keckles 2017-08-04T02:47:59Z

It would be nice if I could at least see some of the level geometry around myself without shining the flashlight on it, or maybe make the flashlight a bit bigger. There was some trial and error required to find my way through the levels. The physics felt very glitchy, I could hover by holding space, and if I moved against a wall I could stick to it and not fall. Instant death on the spikes was kind of harsh, but it's also not a long game so it wasn't too bad.

GLOW by abductedPlatypus 2017-08-04T02:33:09Z

This was so much fun to play! I loved the exploration and the challenge of getting around enemies wasn't too bad. The game was beautiful in both audio and graphics, and really established a very surreal and chill mood. I'd love to play more if you plan on expanding this in the future!

BATTERYMAN RECHARGES THE WORLD! by XAVIER_INDIE_GAMEDEV 2017-08-02T01:44:38Z

This was really fun! The enemies felt too dumb, as in they got stuck on the geometry a lot. Charging the towers was really nice but on the last level the towers that weren't relevant to the objective confused me. Twin stick on controller felt really nice!

BATTLE BOIS by Valmay 2017-08-06T02:18:16Z

This game felt really good to play! It felt natural to control the bois and lead them into battle. It was worthwhile to tell them to target fire specific enemies and also to grind up a few more bois in the beginning before attacking. The graphics were absolutely adorable and amazing, almost like a finished game! Well done there. The facial expressions on the bois really gave them some personality. The audio was bit lacking, some music or more combat sounds would have added a lot.

Socket Punch! by simex 2017-08-04T03:04:29Z

I found it bad that the ranged enemies could hit me through the pillars, also I found it a bit abusable that I could do circles around the pillar while i was plugged in. Shooting, dodging, and punching all felt super good. The enemies felt numerous but not super overwhelming becuase my movement abilities were plentiful. It would be nice if you got additional score somehow for killing enemies.

Mountaintop Groovy Robot Laser Battle by Jeremy Ryan 2017-08-06T02:49:07Z

The music is really nice, but for a rhythm game it's really hard to follow to the beat. It doesn't really have a prominent metronome type sound to it, which I feel is necessary for these kinds of games. It was able to spam the keys a lot and was most successful that way, but I feel that defeats the purpose of this being a rhythm game. The animations on the monsters were great and telling of what key I needed to press.

Nightmare Mine by Travis Spuller 2017-08-02T02:37:56Z

The atmosphere of this game was excellent! I found the gameplay to be a bit conflicting - I wanted to take my time and be immersed but I also wanted to hurry to escape. The death cutscene was amazing! I thought it was a better payoff than escaping even.

Climate Clicker by Burgee 2017-08-02T01:14:54Z

The game felt really good to play, but it would be nice if the pace was a little slower so that I can have more of an indication of what i'm doing is making an impact.

MoonBall by CurseTats 2017-08-06T01:49:34Z

It was pretty straightforward and easy to play. I thought the character was very cute but a bit too big in reference to the screen and the tiles. It was easy to get stuck on the sides of walls. Some of the level design punished me for not taking blind jumps. I also feel like the energy mechanic didn't leave me any time to feel "good" about exploring. I was able to finish the game with only 4 out of 5 power cells for the last area. If I were to run out of power it would be nice if I could restart from the beginning of the current area.

Delivery Drain by Thorneto 2017-08-02T02:25:58Z

Really like the mechanic of using the phone, it rewarded me for remembering how many blocks to go. However, some more points of reference would have been nice to help me judge where I am on the map. It's a bit brutal that one wrong delivery ends the game. Otherwise this was really fun and I liked that there were multiple difficulties!

And Here Again by PerduGames 2017-08-02T02:55:39Z

Loved the mood of this game, it felt so dark and foreboding, it really communicated the feeling of depression. The gameplay felt so close to good I was kind of frustrated it wasn't there. It would be nice if the people turned slower or had some indication of when they were going to turn. The knife mechanic was hidden and I doubt I would have found it without your help.

POW by ProdigalSon 2017-08-04T01:44:28Z

This is a great entry! The puzzles offered enough challenge without being frustrating. The graphics and music established the world very nicely! The non-brutal checkpoints allowing me to restart each level made it fun to try things that might not work. Well done!

Wrong Slumber by ick 2017-08-02T03:28:37Z

The "shooting" felt really good, I was able to hit targets from pretty far away, the jetpack also felt nice to get out of a pinch. Some enemies spawned immediately on top of me, which didn't feel great. It was nice that the fuel gravitated to me so I didn't have to focus on touching it. The melee ghost's audio queue should be audible from further away.

Forty2Eleven by rEaX 2017-08-04T01:11:49Z

The energy dropped a bit too fast for me. It was a bit strange that some enemies didn't drop energy as well, it made it seem a little worthless to kill them instead of dodging them. I had trouble figuring out where to go, other than the direct hints you gave. IT would have been nice to have a gameplay element pushing me in the right direction. The gameplay otherwise was fun and the graphics were amazing. Well done!

Proto472 by uzyfeo 2017-08-02T02:13:19Z

Very cute character! Gameplay felt really good for a infinite runner, jumping felt about right. The draw distance seemed to be a little to low. The game could also use a bit more optimization.

CowPow! by Quemagalletas 2017-08-04T01:54:49Z

The gameplay was fun for a little while, but there wasn't anything new or exclusive about staying alive longer. Just picking up cows that didn't change got a little repetitive. The physics felt sluggish but good. I also felt I couldn't stay alive forever even if I didn't make any mistakes, which is never great.

Combat felt a bit too easy, but was still really fun. Really liked the tracking mechanic, using the footprints of the snowmen to find them. The game felt to be a perfect length and the art and sound were great at establishing the mood of the game.

RulesQuest by Adrien Dittrick 2017-08-02T02:04:55Z

Fighting feels really lackluster, it would be nice if I could do more than just control positioning. hard to escape from higher level mobs. Enemy kings get stuck on geometry. The mechanic of collecting items to upgrade your king felt good, but I was overly encouraged to collects items early on not realizing that they would do me more benefit later. Exploration was really fun but hard to tell where you are in the world. Would be great as an IO game!

Giuseppe's Kidnapping by VEGACIDE 2017-08-06T01:35:48Z

The puzzle aspect of this game was excellently done, besides the second level I never felt like I was super safe and didn't need to actually figure out an efficient path. The fade-out as I die effect looks pretty bad, and hard to see what's going on depending on what the window is over. It would be nice if you did this effect differently, even if it still restricted vision. The music was really great! Graphics on the character and the blood splatters were also amazing! Tileset felt a little plain though.
