Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-09-12T03:43:00
Haha, very cool. Sitting at about 250 ratings/comments combined and have most of the US and western Europe visible.

Oh man .. the camo guy on the grassy world caught me by surprise. Sneaky.
Score: 619 lol
Really beautiful game. Loved all the graphics. So clean and nice design. Love the name too
Seemed a lot like Journey. Could be really great with some more visuals / stunning environment. Great music
Cool game, I really liked the look. I only got pepper though cause I thought if I went back to the castle I would get more food but I guess I was exiled till I got spices :(
A lot of people have been making games like this one for this theme. However, I feel like yours really stand out because of the controls. Well done. That being said, the game is very unforgiving sometimes and then I have to start over... little annoying.
I liked the graphics and music. Wish the combat was a bit more polished and fleshed out. Nice job!
LOL this was great. Kind of hard, but very fun. I kept accidentally letting go of my planets >.< noooo, come baaaack lol highscore? 7. Awesome physics. Would have liked to see more planets / variation
Wish the score was more obvious and that instead of a timed game, if it was more story oriented. Graphics need a lot of work.
Enjoyed playing your game. I liked the low poly look of everything. All those spears the Minotaur was throwing freaked me out at first XD
I liked how epic the character moves around, but it was sometimes hard to control.
hahah nom nom nom
Wish I had a chance to see my score at the end.
Haha, I flipped the boat. Nice game, cool art. Liked that you had physics on the water.
Solid graphics and sound. Just a nice relaxing puzzle game. Thanks for making it, had fun!
Oh no... the planets! D: Haha. Took a second to get it, but was really great once I figured it all out. Loved it.
I beat lvl 5!~<3
I jumped into the game without reading your description and right away I was reminded of Journey. I think it was the first level that had all grey clouds and you flew sideways was a bit annoying as I kept getting wrecked by the machines. It felt like I couldn't outrun them but I eventually got passed. I really enjoyed the relaxing parts of flying through the clouds and the look and feel of it. Nice job!
Cool concept. Glad you had some checkpoints in there, that helped a lot. Didn't figure out I could hold down the mouse button till the end :) click, click, click, click, click, click
Might not be very intuitive, or might just be me, but I didn't really get it. Sounds were annoying and visuals are subpar - sorry! Not trying to be mean, but this game needs more love put into it, man! I think your concept has a lot of potential! I think you should keep working on it.
I loved this game. 5 stars all around.
The controls annoyed the crap out of me, but fix that and I think you'll have a great game on your hands.
I love the art work - it's beautiful.
Jumping was really difficult which seems weird since its outer space. I feel like I should be floating a bit more. Aside from that, interesting idea.
I loved the evaporation mechanic. Would have also liked to see it turn to ice to complete the trifecta: liquid, gas, solid.
Interesting controls / movement for he character. Just not sure how it fits the theme.
Well, I broke it at some point where 2 rows stacked on top of one another. Not sure how... I think I was moving a piece at that time that it flipped.
lmao I like this.
Didn't work for me in Chrome >_<'
Cool concept. Took me a bit to get used to looking at both screens to figure it out but was fun :)
I love the graphics for this game, so cute and simple.
I agree with what deathray said. If you could just move with wasd and swing with the mouse it have been nicer. I did enjoy spinning around like a garbage disposal and destroying everything around me :) Nice job!
Souls Saved: 100. Liked the power ups!
Tricky tricky. Bit too jumpy for my taste.
I dunno about you guys but I played "Pump Up The Jam" while playing XD
Took me awhile to figure out I could click the aliens to get more clues. Ended up saving earth my third time around. Nice art work and the text for the aliens speaking was a nice touch.
I liked flying through the asteroids - that was the best part. Should just cut the rest of the game out.
I really liked the concept, but I couldn't get a single spirit haha. D: I suck at this game!
Nice game. Fun to see how you moved after each round and block yourself :)
I really loved everything about this game. I hope to see more of it in the future.
Wow, very polished, loved the art and how you could just easily float between the planet, bean stalk and then the next planet. Great work!
Nice concept. Woodstock was not very nice though :(
Lord of the Rings, a Romantic Comedy. Can't anyone learn to love an eye?
Animations and sounds were really great. Loved the colors too
Simple yet fun game. Can get a bit hectic when you set the AI at a 1 second interval but nothing unbeatable. Nice job!
It would be nice if the numbers in the corner were smoother and if you had some room to recover if you messed up. Like the story and the outfits as you progress through the game. Clever.
Loved the artwork and humor
Really interesting interpretation of the theme. I liked that my choice effected me in the next character I played. I'd love to see a longer version of this game.
Interesting concept / memory game. Not a fan of the jump physics - was more like floating. I liked the sunflowers, but would have liked to see other flowers or things you could teleport to. Not sure how this game fit into the theme, too.
Fun game, liked the art style a lot.
Nice game, enjoyed it. I think the rocket could have been more towards the bottom of the screen giving the player more time to react and make it easier to see the arrow at the bottom. Other than that nice job :)
Cool graphics, but not a fan of the controls.
Spinning around was a lot of fun with that effect. Finaly beat P3!
Very nice game. I really liked the music and art a lot.
Cool idea, more visual queues for the pieces would be nice. Keep working on it, I'd love to see more.
Awesome looking main character. Nice touch with the bullets coming out where his gun barrel was located.
Nice graphics... lit the first thing I ran into a flame and unexpectedly the entire town went on fire from that one action... did I win? lol. IDK.
Score: 999
Wish I could put more planets in orbit, or delete ones to make room for different ones.
Very satisfying game play. Loved flying through all the beams.
Not sure how that was "connecting" worlds, but nice graphics
Loved this game. I can't put it into words on how great it really was. Haven't played it? DO IT NOW.
Fun, I wish I was better at platformers. Might have found a bug at the second part... my red block disappeared when I tried to put it down on the platforms.
I liked this outer space oregon trail. I think it would have been nice to see my current inventory to see how low I was on fuel and how damaged the ship was / needing scrap metal. Interesting take on the theme.
Very nice game. As I read through the comments it sounds like I was hitting the lava. I thought the bridge was just disappearing from under me as it would disappear when you died.
Aw, too short. I want more. So beautiful.
Nice little game. I tended to have things just go left and right till I figured out where I wanted them to go :)
Great idea / interpretation of the theme. Fun to play, but I didn't like the music. Drawing my own faces was fun
Really difficult to play the game by myself, but definitely could see this being an interesting 2 player game. Wish each player had its own hp bars though.
Lol the Breaking Bad of Ludum Dare
Proud of you for doing this in 28 hours and I hope you keep working on it. But please change the background. Hurt my eyes while moving haha.
The controls were really difficult, but that made the game very humorous to try to play
Haha, that was pretty funny. Would be fun to have a free play mode too where you can just crash into everything :)
I liked the art style and effects
Nice game. Felt like every time I upgraded earth got stronger too :(
Very nice moves and animations. I agree with creative630 the AI was pretty brutal. Very nice work though!
Too easy... I think eyes should go much faster over the time. Can just hold down the button for continuous shooting. Art and sounds need a lot of love.
Nice fast paced game with a nice art style. A bit hard but enjoyed it :)
Very cool! I love being able to customize my character and the day/night cycle.
Pretty cool game. I felt so relaxed the first few levels then I ran into a pit O.o Was fun though. Pretty easy to pick up and play.
Best part was the dialog. It was funny and well written. I think that I would have liked the speed transitions to take longer. I could speed up and slow down so quickly, that it seemed like it lost the importance that was pressed in the beginning.
The people freaking out about their internet made me laugh... its like my every day life at work.
Very clean. Extremely fun. This is definitely my favorite game out of the ones I have played so far. Nice job.
Nice style with the water colors. I was only able to make the big flower that spit out seeds. I never saw any other plants or animals :(
So many bullets! Fun game. The background scrolled a bit too fast for me.
Interesting game concept, but the sounds really hurt my ears for a music related game....
Nice puzzle game. I think it would help if the first level you weren't surrounded by walls. That way when you press an arrow key you see how the blocks move. At first I couldn't get anything to move with arrows because I was looking at the left screen and pressing up/w but it was the right screen that moves normally.
It was cool to see the man holding up the world getting crushed, or successfully getting the darkness all the way over his head.
Nice game. Had to play it on easy though or I would instantly die.
Liked the artwork and your take on the theme. Good humor
I liked the graphics
Sweet game! The mechanic for swapping worlds was awesome :)
Got a high score of 26 :) I liked the little animation when you crashed into planets, nice work!
Interesting idea, but kinda wish I was trying to unscramble actual words.
Cool concept. Liked the effect on the screen as well which made it look like an actual screen.
848~ I've been working at a call center for too long... and this definitely had the same feel. Awesome mood and audio
LOL lasted 77.76 seconds.. oh yeah!
Very fun, well done. Clean, simple artwork.
The buildings falling was such a cool effect
Cool game. Took a bit to get used to the controls as I was expecting a strafe but that would probably make it too easy. I took way too much damage on the second area.
Not sure if it was just the host or what, but the web version was so laggy, camera movement went everywhere and it was hard to play. However, it was still relatively fun. I wish there was another gameplay element to it, such as having to plant the next set of crop after picking it. Not sure how it fit the theme when there was just 1 world, and you didn't get another perspective on things. Still good job!
Was that actually you singing? Cause that would be great.
@ThisLittlePiggy ~ Yeah, it was really laggy for me, so I had to stop playing it haha. That's my computer's fault though, not the game's.
Nice game, think touching up the collision would do a lot for it. Possibly turning the pieces based of there center might make it a bit easier to predict where your piece will turn to.
Loved that I was basically possessing people to do my bidding lol. Very cool concept for a puzzle game
I liked that the goals were different in each screen. I felt that hitting the asteroid was hard at times. Maybe each one has different hp, or it wasn't registering that I had hit it. Not really sure. Definitely and interesting and fun game, though.
I won!
Couldn't get it to start in GC. Worked in FF. Controls were difficult to use.
The background hurts my eyes and jumping around was hard.
Wish the control was listed somewhere in the beginning. Otherwise, great take on the theme! Wasn't a fan of the audio.
Interesting concept. I thought I was just doing it wrong at first but seems like that was intended.
lol alt F4
I had a hard time with the controls, especially getting off ladders. At first, I also didn't like that I could go off one side of the screen and show up on the other side, but it came in handy later on as I was climbing upwards. Very interesting concept, very fun to play
Very nice. Really liked the toony look and the turning pages making it look like a story book. Nice job guys!
Funny and a very interesting take on the theme. Loved the characters.
Saw a streamer playing this and HAD to play it afterwards. This was so innovative and fun. Loved the two game play modes.
Cool art style
A list of controls somewhere would have been great. Took me a long time to figure it out, just short of face rolling the keyboard. Beyond that, I liked the graphics
Liked the character model and tvs, but other graphics needed a lot of love. Seems like the tv room was the end? Found a hole in the game if you stood where the stairs were going to be when you shifted worlds.
I found the visuals appealing and the ability to change gravity very interesting. However, I wasn't sure where I was suppose to be going - it wasn't clear
Liked that I got to set my own controls at the start. Also enjoyed the message in the bottle and the idea of the totem puzzles... but I had no idea what I was suppose to be doing with them.
Wow. The design, the destruction effects, the art, the music. Nothing but good things to say about this game. I love it and have to play it again now.
Amazing visuals and audio. Would have been really interesting to go out the door in the back and have a whole new room come down to keep going. I definitely wanted more.
Definitely needs a tutorial of some sort
Nice game, was a bit hard to see platforms sometimes.
Movement was really difficult for me, but everything else was nice. Art was beautiful
Needs more memes! =)
All the art was so beautful ❤
Really nice game. Loved how the planets merged together. The thing that through it off was there were some times when pressing W to jump that I would go flying or using A/D to move would switch directions. Other than that very fun.
@Everyone Thanks for all the comments and support. Glad you are enjoying our game. Once the jam is over we plan on continuing fixing, expanding and polishing this game. We appreciate all the compliments and constructive criticism.
@ViliX I changed the install last night to have the correct name as well as being in a zipped exe instead of an installer.
@zdonkeyx Thanks! We had a blast making it. I think our team really enjoyed collecting a lot of things and then crashing into a planet and watching the debris spew everywhere!
@intersectiongames/@mklee We put the timer at a minute because nothing was optimized so we didn't want the game lagging/crashing. We agree that it would be much better with more time and probably add some flashes/noises to let you know time is running out.
@ceosol There is a red aura around the planets that are too big for you. But when planets are blue/green or smaller it is hard to tell. We ran out of time to polish that feature and make it more noticeable but post-jam we want to fix that.. Glad you liked it :)
@RobotFriend I like that concept. I think we will into adding that or possibly a clock powerup that adds time.
The Artist here. Guess its my turn to make comments. =P
@Everyone ~ Thank you for all the lovely compliments on the graphics and constructive critism, so we can make the game even better! We'll definitely be making a mobile version of this, so follow us on Twitter for updates!
@AtomicVikings ~ I'm so glad you liked it! It was fun watching you stream / play the game. It reminded me of why I enjoy making games: seeing the player have a good time.
@Partially Exciting ~ Haha I hear that a lot from people "Just one more time..." 3 times later...
@Crefossus and @MrJohnson22 ~ Yes, I'm glad you both mentioned the markings on the planet. I was hoping people would have a god reaction to that, and that it didn't make the game too easy. That is why some of the planets are a little hard to tell like the "lava" planet, which is red by nature. Might need to improve the red markings to make those planets more obvious that they are too big.
@Victory Garden ~ Thank you for pointing that out. I'll definitely be bugging Maui to make some changes to the spawning points, because I agre with you there. Audio was also done quickly / at the last minute. We're hoping to get a friend to make something nice for us later on.
@dickpoelen Yeah, that is a pretty good score. Best I have seen so far is Moosefly at 5883.
@lkr We are planning on doing a post-compo version where we can address the issues people are listing. Definitely gonna add more play time with bigger planets.
Extremely beautiful, obviously a great story since you're basing it off Norse mythology, but I have to admit I got bored part of the way through. Exploration games are fun to an extent. I feel this game would extremely benefit from more clickable objects you can interact with, or some smaller side stories. I hope you continue to work on this. I want to see the rest. =)
Some indication of what the button / coin thing did would be really helpful. Sound would also make this game better. I am proud that you got animations working, for a non-artist.
Really nice game. Really enjoyed the graphics and feel of it all. I think the deer one was my favorite :)
Nice game. Was fun to spam satellites :)
Super fun! Not sure if it was stated anywhere, but wish I had known earlier that the link between them could be touched, just not the balls themselves.
Cute concept, really liked the sound of the ghosts. I didn't like teleporting onto spikes. I think that was because the levels were randomly generated? Or maybe it was intentional. Great game overall
I like the idea, though tough to get used to haha
Nice job. I didn't get how to set the routes at first then figured it out and got 100k in a few minutes XD
The gameplay was a little boring. Not very challenging and it was repetitive. Didn't really get the concept either. Sorry
Very funny voice over for the guru. Maybe put the controls in the description here. Took me awhile I had to press X to throw newspapers.
Should have the light-speed effect (like in star wars) when you click on a far-away planet or star. That would be neat.
I have no idea what this has to do with connected worlds, but its funny
Very clean and fun. =) Maybe different sounds for the different items you run into.
Funny idea, but don't see how it fits into connected worlds.
Nice game guys! Cool concept. I like how you can preview the next world before 'jumping' into it.
Cute little graphics / animations
I liked the small animations in the game, though I wish the screen was a bit bigger.
Took awhile to figure out, good music though
Ah, playing pool but as the cue ball. Interesting. Could definitely use a power meter bar instead of having the screen shake so much.
Haha that was fun. Wish I could have seen my final score at the end when things got too hectic to watch it. It was definitely above 250.
Nice game. The different world concepts were pretty easy to pick up with your level design. The only controls that threw me off was inverting the controls on the green world.
Nice game. Really enjoyed the artwork and all the little side comments being made. Overwhelming to play by yourself but I could see this being a good co-op game.
>_>...... the command to jump is space on the web version, and even if I click on the game first, space still takes me down the page. Wut...
Nice game. I ended up moving one character a bit then moving the other a bit and just went back and forth.
Ahh introverted cameraaa lol
Nice art and platforming mechanics. That enemy pillar killed me so many times till I figured out that's what was killing me >.<
Nice card game. Think the balancing needed some work. Maybe when you play a card the opposite card is destroyed and that card has no effect unless it is a trap or shield?
Not a fan of the movement / physics of the trike
I liked that the characters look like they were drawn with crayon. I don't like that I have to wait to start the battle or "prepare" an attack.
I wasn't sure what to do after a bit, but interesting idea. Loved the character art
The controls were difficult to use. Sometimes the meter would show a lot of power, but the ball would barely move, or not going anywhere at all. Liked the music though
Haha, nice game. I though I was done for the first time as rockets rained down on me. Then I looked over at the AIs screen and figured out I could upgrade missiles and took them out :)
Great game idea! Escalated quickly. Maybe gradual difficulty in levels. Music made it seem like I was running out of time when I actually had unlimited time - might want to change that.
Every part of this game was awesome. 5 stars all around. You win.
That boulder :( Nice game though, I liked the simple and clean look of it. The upgrades weren't very noticeable though.
Awesome game! I liked the cat themed songs and the rendering effect you guys did.
Wasn't expecting to micro manage - nice!
Nice little puzzle game. The cut scene was pretty nice too.
Controls were really weird
Definitely humorous and an interesting take on the theme. GJ
I enjoyed the little bit I could play. Seemed to be nothing left to do after exploring 4 planets. Want more! >3
Nice little puzzle game. Wish there was a way to make the planets move faster when you connected them.
I liked the way it looked, but didn't like that I could just disappear out of the world. That was weird.
Oh mai gosh, so cute. All the gummies. Graphics were great, including the animations. But the dialog / text sound was really annoying after a bit.
