LD28 — You Only Get One

OP is OP by TeamQuadratic 2013-12-20T04:52:00

Music is awesome, but either the jump needs to be less floaty or the platforms should be a little bigger or even just move farther before switching directions. I ended up floating above some platforms and trying to figure out which way the platform would be going by the time I landed.

0RBITALIS by AlanZucconi 2013-12-16T05:32:00

Took a while to get used to, but once I understood what was going on, it became pretty fun.

Below Zero by Kinzata 2013-12-16T05:44:00

That moment when an asteroid almost hits you is scarier than when it actually does. Pretty fun though.

One Eye by kcpunk666 2013-12-16T05:04:00

Game plays really well, but with as much dying as I was doing, I wish it would have let me restart automatically or by pressing enter. I wanted to get back into the action quicker.

Pellet Run by Brodenino 2013-12-16T06:14:00

Fun gameplay, but I would have preferred keys to rotate as the mouse just felt awkward. Maybe it was just because the mouse wasn't stuck to the game area and was moving across screens.

Toy Soldiers by Bcadren 2013-12-17T14:58:00

Controls are a bit strange, tried using wasd keys and 'a' randomly zooms in extremely close and I have no idea how to zoom out. Seems like it has potential to be a decent lemmings clone, but the colorful ground is not pleasing to look at.

Magnet Chan by jillytot 2013-12-16T06:17:00

Interesting mechanic, it has a lot of potential, but it did feel a bit short.

One Spell at a Time by dopplex 2013-12-22T17:32:00

As others are saying, the game starts out way too difficult. A gradual progression of health increasing per level would make this a lot more fun.

Finally made it to level 7 once I realized the spells could go through walls. Otherwise, I was stuck on level 1.

RoboKnight Must Choose by Mutt 2013-12-20T04:57:00

Fun game, but an intro screen explaining what was going on and what the powerups did would have been useful.

You Only Get 1 Mirror by walaber 2013-12-20T05:37:00

Took a little bit to understand, but plays well. If anything, it's probably too easy/short, but that's understandable with only having 48 hours.

Pointless Game! by djdduty 2013-12-16T05:22:00

The music is actually pretty good, but as you said, the game part is definitely unfinished.

One Spear Savage by Gareth Jenkins 2013-12-20T05:03:00

This is actually a really fun game and a nice take on the theme. Great Job!

Uni-turner by EatThePath 2013-12-20T05:08:00

Pretty fun and more challenging than I expected it to be. I felt like the old lines should have faded away quicker as it got really hard to see anything after only a few deaths.

Gnome Hedge by haveric 2013-12-22T17:49:00

@Zuige As I noted above, I'm pretty sure this is the intended functionality. It will only let you use items if they can be used where you are facing. (Such as using a sword in front of an enemy or using a ladder in front of a hedge) Otherwise, you would waste the one use items by hitting space right away.

If this is not the case, let me know the situation you are trying as it may be a bug.

Objectless by lucars83 2013-12-20T05:46:00

As others have said, the controls are very slidy. Also, not capturing the mouse within the game area on web is annoying when playing any first person game. I like the art style though.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Nebula by franklyn 2014-08-25T03:22:00

Pretty fun game. Could really use some damage indicators though on your ship and/or the enemy ships.

I like the music and the gameplay, but I don't really feel the music goes well with this style of game.

Love Craft by renatopp 2014-08-25T04:29:00

Graphics are simple, yet a great stylistic choice. The game starts out extremely slow and any actions I do don't really seem to have any effect on the outcomes, which is disappointing, because there is a lot of potential here for an interesting game.

Karma Cycle by atrodo 2014-08-25T03:34:00

After playing for a while moving between planets and attempting to attack, I have no idea what I'm doing. You've got a great backstory, but a complicated and confusing user interface.

Delivery by Cheshyr 2014-08-25T05:33:00

Cool idea, kinda reminds me of an extremely simplified Gazillionaire. I apparently am not good at remembering the types of resources each planet had and was only ever able to make one delivery. Lots of potential though.

Mathwiz by greysphere 2014-08-25T03:12:00

Pretty fun game. I ran into a lot of streaks of minuses though when I needed 24+ from any of my spells.

The dragging to create equations felt a bit awkward to me. Perhaps a version where clicking the tiles creates the equation would feel more intuitive.

Vital Delivery by ForrestS49 2014-08-25T04:13:00

Honestly, I'd skip the gathering part on Earth and just go straight to the asteroid flying. To keep the gathering part, perhaps make it gathering supplies from wreckage or something where you can use the full motion of the ship. It was way more fun flying through the asteroids, and made me feel like I was actually flying instead of rolling around like in the first part.

On the second playthrough, I realized that the asteroids were extremely easy to fly out of as it was just a tunnel. Try spawning asteroids in front of the player instead of having them in a straight line. Although that would require having a goal pointer to find the destination, it would prevent escaping the asteroid field.

InfiLoop by komjaur 2014-08-25T22:45:00

Definitely seems like a less polished version of antichamber at first, but seemed to get repetitive with no guidance on how to solve a few things. Not bad for 48 hours though.

They Came from Beyond by masamunedragon 2014-08-25T03:43:00

Interesting gameplay, but the limited light range is a killer for me. The light orbs were always following too far behind to be useful in seeing where to go. (Perhaps my monitor settings are darker than they should be. An in game setting would be beneficial) The attacks also seemed to vary in effectiveness, sometime knocking the enemy back a distance, and other times, hardly moving them. The initial load menu looks very much like an afterthought (What does the 'Quit' button even do?) and with a Ludum Dare, I can't blame you much for that, menus are the last thing I usually work on.

Connected Worlds by WesleyJohnson 2014-08-25T05:00:00

Great fit for the theme, I really enjoyed the little bit of gameplay that I made it through. On that note, I got stuck not being able to switch at a certain point that caused me to keep dying

Worldly Traveler by MrTedders 2014-08-25T22:28:00

That was quite strange, and once I got the control panel figured out, the rest was just really repetitive until I got the world with all the gems selected, went into a building, and then black screen. Is this the end? I really don't know.

Anti Matter by Chris Maire 2014-08-25T05:17:00

I like the game idea, but I feel like I don't have enough control or that it is too slow to accomplish anything. I got lucky once and a mortar killed enough to take over another planet and I won. The rest of the times, I've lost miserably watching my towers knock out one enemy every 15 seconds.

Salvation by 43iscoding 2014-08-25T22:39:00

Pretty fun game and I made it all the way through after a few attempts at level 7. What I didn't really understand is why certain planets could transfer to the wormhole and others couldn't. It would also have been helpful to have the multipliers constantly visible. Having them on hover didn't allow for time to react in some situations based on the multipliers. Otherwise, it was a great game.

interball by foolmoron 2014-08-25T03:59:00

Really fun and unique gameplay. Graphics and audio are great for this style of game. I had the ball get stuck barely rolling once and turning didn't affect it. It also seems that balls can go through walls if rotating the board fast enough. Even with those issues, this is still a pretty great game!

Hermes by BinRoot 2014-08-25T04:52:00

This is an interesting game, but wow did it ramp up difficulty fast. I felt like it wasn't giving me enough minerals to reasonably use the shield more than once per trip, although I may have held on to the few I had for too long as I died.

The audio combined with the storytelling each trip made for a great combination and the graphics matched the quality. Very well done.

Delirium by ruthiepee 2014-08-25T05:09:00

This is a pretty cool game, but I feel the use of a single button control strange. This really needs a way to differentiate actions. Currently I'm just hopping up and down whenever I want to interact with something. It feels like there's a lot of potential, but just needs some more finely tuned controls.

Space Breakers by DJWizardCop 2014-08-25T06:03:00

Very fun game with superb graphics. I feel like a couple simple sounds could have added quite a bit to the game though.

Alternation by PowerSpark 2014-08-25T04:42:00

Very cool game concept, but it was really hard to know where things would be without having to die in a few places first. I like the gameplay, but it could use more polish to make it great.

Spacecat Marines by matthias_zarzecki 2014-08-25T22:17:00

Cats with guns, I love it! The music is great as well. The gameplay seems a bit easy, but also confusing as you have no idea where the enemies are spawning without a map of some kind. Great game overall though.

Spectral Divide by rmeier 2014-08-25T05:21:00

Cool game, but even on easy, this is extremely difficult trying to match 4 things up, along with matching two colors up in one of them. I feel like a few starter levels with 2 or 3 matching up would help people ease into the complexity this game requires. Overall, a fun game though, just really hard.

Waterfly Octus by gillenew 2014-08-25T04:21:00

The art is very well done, but why oh why can I not mute that music while keeping the other sounds? I was sick of it by loop 2 and it just kept on going.

The gameplay took a little while getting used to, but overall was pretty fun, even though I kept dying.

Super Space Adventure by robbd7 2014-08-25T03:28:00

This is a great example of gameplay being more important than graphics. The gameplay is pretty solid, although I did run into a couple times where I couldn't use the thrusters even though I had fuel.

The music is superb, I just wish the graphics matched both the gameplay and the audio.

6 Dimensions by Fanttum 2014-08-25T03:52:00

I like the concept of this almost more than I like the gameplay. I made it quite a ways through, only to be frustratingly killed by the fireballs because red would overjump when I was trying to jump green. The levels I really liked are the ones where you have to collect the colored keys to help out the others.

Tin Can Internet by fserb 2014-08-25T05:49:00

Pretty solid game. Live leaderboards is a great feature and keeps it competitive across users. Some of the planets were frustrating to swing between and the last level I got to, I was just bouncing around like a crazy madman trying to deliver cat videos to people, but I enjoyed getting to the top of leaderboard in the process.

Dalek Invasion by haveric 2014-08-25T05:51:00

@fserb @kidando I agree with the cities. I like the idea of them, but the art made them blend in with the foreground more than I had intended it to.

Dalek Invasion by haveric 2014-08-25T23:14:00

@Fanttum You probably got hit by a laser. I would definitely make them bigger and more noticeable if doing this again.

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Dislocator by arhpositive 2015-04-20T23:25:00

Gameplay is different than I expected for a space shooter, but still quite enjoyable. The graphics all work together really well and the audio is great. Would love to see more variances in powerups if this were expanded.

Throw Junk at Aliens by jwin 2015-04-24T03:17:00

Impressively well put together game. The art style is excellent and the gameplay is unique and fun. My only complaint is that the sounds are a bit harsh.

Black Beam Blaster by Xgor 2015-04-20T15:47:00

The screen shaking was annoyingly excessive, but the weapon mechanic was actually pretty interesting and fun to use. I think with some enemies or more puzzle mechanics, this could be expanded upon quite nicely.

Hugline Miami by Figglewatts 2015-04-20T23:47:00

Pretty interesting variation of Hotline Miami although it would have been nice to have been able to switch out masks once choosing one for a level or switch levels once they've been played to try different masks. Ended up with a score of 94900.

Close Quarter Time Distorter by Lord bobyness 2015-04-23T13:11:00

Game mechanic is great, but it could definitely use some polish. I thought I was trying to escape at first and when I realized that I couldn't, it seemed too easy to avoid the enemies. The music is pretty great though!

Beacons by Xanjos 2015-04-20T23:17:00

As others have said, this is quite difficult, but definitely something that could be expanded upon.

drone-a-pult by ChrisGaudino 2015-04-20T04:55:00

I spent way too much time on this. It's very well put together, but I ended up giving up on the fourth level as I was just having too much trouble releasing at the right time to get anywhere close to the wall.

Pogo Dojo by Danman9914 2015-04-20T04:08:00

Took me a while to figure out the movement, but it's a pretty fun game that could easily be expanded upon.

Unconventional by vogon101 2015-04-23T13:02:00

Made it to round 120 or so after a couple tries and it started lagging a bit and then I died.

Definitely an interesting game, but I'm not really sure what the unconventional weapon was.

Guardian Shield by longshorts 2015-04-20T14:51:00

Pretty solid gameplay. Who doesn't like running into things? You weren't kidding on the hard mode being hard, but I like the difficulty of it. Makes you pick your battles over just killing everything. One suggestion for improvement would be to use less gradients. It works in some places, but seems to be overdone.

Overall, pretty nice game for 48 hours.

An Unconventional Boat by zell2002 2015-04-20T19:00:00

Took me a few tries to make it, but it was fun each time! The controls seems to not always be that responsive, but I think it was just the way I was attempting to maneuver the ships. Either way, great entry.

Beep Boop by CJ K 2015-04-20T19:56:00

This game definitely needs checkpoints. It takes a while to get used to new controls like this and going back to the beginning of the level each time is frustrating. Otherwise, it's a fun game with great music.

Global Warning by fueelin 2015-04-24T03:06:00

It was a little hard to tell if leaving a cloud alone for a while would flood a certain area or if it had to be moved. I couldn't quite wrap my head around which tiles were going to be flooded, especially when multiple sewers were involved. Clouds can also get stuck on top of each other if dragged to the same tile, which ended up making one level unbeatable (or maybe I didn't wait long enough).

With all of that said, it is an interesting concept and I enjoyed it. It fits well with the theme and has a lot of potential.

Dino Warriors by ito123456789 2015-04-20T03:53:00

Interesting take on the theme. Could be expanded on to make a pretty fun game. Seems a bit slow though (a lot of marching between battles)

Also, got an exception after the second battle (when clicking to collect the eggs): "An exception has occured, but exception handling has been disabled in this build. If you are the developer of this content, enable exceptions in your project's WebGL player settings to be able to catch the exception or see the stack trace."

Robot Downfall by Johan Blade 2015-04-20T14:34:00

Interesting art style and nice level design. The enemies didn't feel like much of a threat though and the audio seemed to have random delays on it occasionally. Otherwise it was fun, even though it was rather short. I could see it being expanded into a more complete game with a bit of polish.

Beermageddon by error031 2015-04-20T04:00:00

Gameplay mechanics are pretty fun, but could definitely use some spell-check and graphical improvements, but for being made in only 24 hours, it's not bad.

I Hate Golf by Geared Games 2015-04-20T15:13:00

I love it! The gameplay was great and could easily be expanded to a more complete game. The music was pretty good especially the ending song. I actually like the intro and success graphics, but it definitely could use some polish to make it complete.

Overall, great idea pretty well implemented.

ld-rainballz by Victor RENE 2015-04-23T12:51:00

The game window shows up slightly off screen (running dual 1600x900 monitors) and I couldn't get the left side to be in view, but I was still able to play for a bit.

It's an interesting concept, which could be turned into something more, but it needs some polish. I'm also not connecting the theme to this game at all. Perhaps you could explain your take on the theme in the game description?

Propaganda Defence by scorched 2015-04-20T16:31:00

Seems almost too simplistic. It was pretty easy to alternate items and only rarely switch out one thing for another. The pathfinding seems to bug out a bit on the right top and bottom where a couple guys would get stuck occasionally.

Color Backfire by Kostyan1996 2015-04-20T15:21:00

I like the mechanic of using the enemies weapons against them. The sounds seemed a bit loud though and distracting.

BodyBlow by OneTrueAaron 2015-04-20T15:53:00

Seems interesting, but I keep randomly dying. Is there a time limit that I'm not seeing? Or are enemy attacks not very visible? (at least twice there were no enemies nearby so I don't think it was enemies)

Could use some work, but I could see the idea expanded upon and polished up working quite well.

Basement RPG by KBF123 2015-04-20T15:28:00

Not able to play this unfortunately. Downloaded and extracted the files, ran the exe and got an error: "RPGVXAce RTP is required to run this game."

Bunny Plane Massacre by inappropriatebeeguin 2015-04-21T00:10:00

Fun gameplay, but could probably use more variance or to start out with smaller fields of bunnies and add a few levels/challenges to it. It took a while to kill all of them, but I somehow only crashed one plane!

Cornflake Ninja by badlydrawnrod 2015-04-20T14:59:00

Very unforgiving, but still fun. I died several times by accidentally jumping to another platform. Artwork could obviously use work. Music is great although maybe not a great fit for this game style.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Schrift by DrPetter 2016-05-09T22:34:00

I found the game visually confusing and the instructions were hard to figure out. Very creative spin on the theme, though!

Tommy is the Shapeshifter by ashdnazg 2016-05-09T22:26:00

this game legitimately made me laugh. it was well written and voice acted. the graphics were awesomebad. fantastic job.

Super Solid Shifter by Shide 2016-05-09T22:42:00

The concept seems interesting, but there wasn't much to play with. The text in the tutorial was a little hard to read (at 1920x1080) and I got stuck not being able to click on the controls.

Slime Quest by QuexD 2016-05-09T23:22:00

This is a fantastic start to a game. Reminds me a lot of Super Meat Boy and Guacamelee. The slime animations were amazing and it left me wishing the rest of the game looked as good.

Ninja A Talk by kingpirux 2016-05-02T12:56:00

This is a very interesting game and it would be awesome to see it expanded. The only issue I had was that the hands could use a bit more contrast from the background. Otherwise, it's a fun little game, especially for being made in such a short amount of time.

Kingdom of Metamorphs by AinoraZ 2016-05-02T22:59:00

steep learning curve, would do great with upgraded graphics and animations for attacking. the cards totally transform the game and make it even more fun. would love mouseovers for movement range. could use sounds and music, but to be honest I didn't really find myself missing them.

Shapeshifting Slime by pianoman373 2016-05-02T22:33:00

Definitely an interesting concept. Would be interested to see it streamlined and turned into a bigger game.

Ludum invaders by cheshire 2016-05-02T13:18:00

The controls were difficult to move with and the hitboxes didn't seem to hit for most of the invaders (even after realizing you could switch colors). I'm also not sure what the cat had to do with anything, but it was annoying.

I'd suggest a quick way to restart and get back into the game instead of only an exit option. I wanted to keep trying your game, without having to re-run the program. I'd also suggest options for disabling/adjusting audio/music for those who don't want to listen to a cat every few seconds.

Magic Shapes by gq_deltex 2016-05-03T13:52:00

It has a decent amount of levels and there was plenty of variation in the characters. The things that were missing to me were a purpose for the shifting and more variety in the levels.

The audio in general was harsh, especially the menu music. The music once you were playing was better, but was still a bit harsh.

The graphics could be made more clear as to what they were. Some of the variations I felt I was just a colored square. That and finishing up the few tiles that were placeholders would help a lot.

One thing from my experience, play with some animation and make a few really great characters over a lot of less than great characters.

You have the basic platform mechanics down. Try experimenting with some different abilities or special tiles or different types of platforming. There's plenty of potential for more. Keep improving and keep making games as you will only improve over time.

Fun Land Of Destiny... Or Something by jaredbruhn 2016-05-09T23:22:00

VERY creative use of the theme vs controls. The dialogue slows down the pacing of the game and the physics momentum feels excessive, but I'm giving a ton of points for innovation here.

Octomime by eymrich 2016-05-09T22:48:00

I liked the physics, and the graphics were cute, clean and well done. the sound effect was brilliant the first couple times I heard it, but the thousandth time it got a little old.

Diana Has Changed by magicagrilsdoinggamesforsenpai 2016-05-09T22:57:00

Great music, very clever graphics (especially main char), and wonderful narration and use of the 4th wall. Platforming games need crisp physics, though, and this could feel a little more responsive.

No Hope In Hell by team_disposable 2016-05-09T23:02:00

I liked the tutorial in the background and the atmosphere was very effective, but the controls were slow (platformers need fantastic, reactive controls) and the camera was jarring.

Shifter by jasonalighieri 2016-05-09T23:08:00

Great start to a game! Overlay needs some help and the difference between canine and feline needs more definition. Good music, great animations. Congrats on the game!

viA Morpha by Seth_senpai 2016-05-09T22:40:00

You guys made a beautiful game with lots of polish and the sound/music is perfect for the mood, but I couldn't figure out how to reset a failed level and the molecule movement wasn't as intuitive as I'd have liked.

Outterspace Minions Game by gandoulff 2016-05-09T23:10:00

Didn't have a chance to play this as multiplayer, but it seems like it would have much more potential for multiplayer than it did with single player. The default controls as qdz threw me off at first and they would have been nice to see in game or on the project page over a readme.txt

Shape Shifts by htspencer88 2016-05-09T22:17:00

I had a hard time with the learning curve, and the instructions didn't help all that much. Once I figured out what I was doing I really loved the idea. The timer gives great urgency and tempo... but I wasn't sure what I was trying to accomplish. good use of simple graphics, good use of simple sound. controls felt floaty and combined with the lack of depth and height perception was frustrating. Still, lots of fun. A little work and it'd be great.

Forest Mage by Lewwwer 2016-05-02T13:26:00

Drawing spells was interesting, but clearer indications of which direction the spells were supposed to be drawn would be very helpful. I really liked the parallax style of map and I think with some more work and some polish, this could be a fun game.
