Great game overall. :) Fits within the theme well, too. Awesome graphics aswell. I noticed I couldn't play the game twice in a row without restarting, but I didn't try it again so it might be a temporary problem.
I'm going to second the lag issues. There was a bit of lag in my comp aswell.
a very good concept, nice game. :) maybe you can think about adding some fitting background in the future, but that might take away from the simplicity of the game. my score was 1530. controls are a little bit too sensitive, but that adds to the difficulty so it's ok.
It's a sadistic, happy feeling when you finally take earth down. :) Nice ending too. :)
Great game. :) Haven't finished it yet but I definitely will. Hooked me up immediately. Too bad there's no sound, it'd be awesome.
Disturbing indeed. :) But I wished it to be a little bit longer. :)
Couldn't get past the "Burn all ants to continue" scene in web wersion.
A cool game. :) The original concept fits with the theme perfectly imo. Graphics are also great. You should keep on extending this game. :)
In the first version, your score does not reset when you start a new game after you die. Don't know about the new version, though. :) Other than this, the graphics and music are great. :)
This is the first game I rated as 5 stars overall. 'nuff said. Good work.
Thank you for your comments. Keep them coming! :)
Thanks for all the constructive comments. If I continue to develop the game, I'll try to keep all of them in mind.
@ComaToes: I thought about implementing a "getting hot, getting cold" system into the game, but couldn't find the time. Maybe in a later version.
@Shigor: You have a point. There's too much trial & error in the game. Originally I thought about making powerups as collectibles (which carry on to the next level) and put them on most of the dead-ends. Maybe I'll end up doing that and then slow the explosion to give a less trial & error feel.
Everyone, thank you so much for your comments. :) I've been busy lately so it's a late reply.
small scope but still a decent game nonetheless.
Nice game overall, but couldn't beat it :) pretty hard. but had a lot of fun while playing, mixed with a little frustration :)
i should say that this little game is really cool. Although I didn't understand the consequences of most of my actions, everything felt nice. This can be improved to be a better game with levels and instructions on how to play, not to mention more tile options.
On the other hand, button switching didn't seem to work after I finished my first game and pressed R to reset. I got stuck on Upgrade.
bullets tend to get stuck when they're fired repeatedly. other than that, i think the concept is cool :)
Cute game :) Music is simply awesome!
Nice story. It should definitely continue. :)
Thanks for your comments, everyone! Keep them coming.
@JoeCool17 planning on a post-compo version, but I might not have enough time to work on it for at least a couple of weeks.
Everyone, thank you so much for all the comments you've made.
@timtipgames: I think it'd be hard to inform the player about their misbehavings with audio feedback, as they'll misbehave so often, the audio will almost always overlap each other. But you have a point about finding another way to present the misbehavings.
@wzl: if I ever get the possibility of doing a post-compo version, I'm thinking about adding more variety to interactions.
@caranha: maybe I should think about a level system which introduces playing fields transforming from larger to smaller after each level. this might make a better difficulty curve, as right now it's only a total of 12 villagers and then the curve stops.
@Everyone else: every comment is really valuable for me, thank you. :)
One hint at first: Replace the "https" with http in your web link. Otherwise it warns people to install Unity Web Player no matter if they have it or not.
About the game: I laughed hard when I first saw what you came up with. :D Execution of the idea is pretty good too. :) Gets 5 stars in Theme and Humor from me, that's for sure. :)
Gameplay and the graphics were nice. The boss was quite hard, but that's a good thing, bullet patterns were nicely thought out. However, I can't say I liked the sound effects on this one, I had to lower the volume to concentrate on the game. Good entry.
I would've liked a ghost mode when I got hit by one of the enemies. This way, you can die easily when you get cornered by an enemy.
However, every other aspect of the game is truly impressive for a 14 year old programmer. Keep up the good work. Everything is great!
Decent game overall. Somehow, I never had enough orbs to use any special skill besides healing, though. Must be me playing badly. :) Good effort on graphics and level generation.
Getting trapped by the angry mob was a nasty bug. Other than this, the game shows some promise but needed some more time, I think. Some aspects of the game are similar to my entry, so I found it interesting.
Nice graphics and atmosphere. :) I thought I figured out how to keep the money in balance after the first two cities, but I was proved wrong before I could try out the third one. :)
A good effort. Minus points are, it lacks any kind of difficulty, and the gui to show the hp and level was kinda difficult to see. Other than these, it's a decent game overall. :)
Nice TD overall.
Fun to play. Really pretty animations. :) Good entry.
Reverse roguelike concept is one that I'd be interested in, this is not a bad start but needs a lot more work to evolve into a better game. For instance, a few more actions that the player can do will be a good start, such as placing traps, ranged mobs, etc.
Lasted for 6 rounds and 3205 points. Second Level 13 in a row killed me with just little hp left. I enjoyed the game. Graphics and audio were right on the spot. Overall, it was a fun game to play. Well done.
Definitely fun. :) I tried twice, couldn't get to win the game, but at least I opened the goat. :)
The basic idea is good, the implementation is simple but nice. However, there are lots of things you can continue to improve here. You should have more levels and more mechanics added for this game to become better. For a first LD it's fairly good.
Shooting controls are a bit hard for me, but overall it's a nice game. :)
Graphics are really nice. The game is a bit easy, but it's hard to write competitive AI in a short time span. Other than that, if the values of the zones were written with small text below them it'd be much better imo.
Nice effort. If you're considering on improving this game in the future, you might consider adding a couple of new mechanics into it to keep things interesting.
Nice idea and implementation, a bit easy to get the game going for a long time, though. :) The base puzzle idea is solid and it can be improved to make a good iOS game in my opinion.
While the thought of reversing popular games is a common idea in this LD, this one is implemented really good. Solid entry for a first LD. Nice graphics. The gameplay seems a bit straightforward as most of the time I didn't even think about where to throw the barrel to, but still, the game is nicely done. Good job.
An original game idea that matches the theme. Graphics and audio fit nicely. A fitting music would've been good, though, even if it was made with autotracker. But, as everyone else have already said, it's extremely hard and I had to give up before succeeding. Still, it's cool!
Nice platformer. A little background music would've been a nice addition, but overall, the game is cool. :)
A decent entry. Needs a little more variety to keep it interesting for a longer time. Good sfx and music. :)
Hey, it's a nice game overall. My entry has some interesting similarities to your entry considering some aspects of the gameplay. You should check it out. :) Solid work, keep it up!
Good, complete entry with some nice features. :) Nice work!
Not a bad effort. Maybe if you could've added one more mechanic to the game, it'd be much better. Nice effort on the graphics. :)
Decent for a first entry in LD. Nice graphics. Grappling hook is cool. Gameplay is a bit dull, but still, the game is very promising for a first time entrant. Having no audio is kind of bad, though.
This was a creative and funny idea. :) The dialog was written so well. :) Overall it's a great game!
Nice game with solid gameplay. :) I had the same sound problems like everyone else, though. Overall, it's a really good entry. Addictive.
Good entry. Really fun to play, pretty addictive. :) The game got tougher in quite a short amount of time, but it's not a big thing.
It kinda gets complicated on higher levels, but the idea is good, graphics are great, music is nice and the theme fits perfectly. :) Solid entry.
Pretty little game. Nice usage of the theme. Good entry overall. :)
Randome events were awesome. :) The game in general is good but needed a little more polish here and there, I guess. But considering the time schedule and this being your first entry, I can say it's a very good end product. :)
Nice work overall. :) The gameplay feels fun, and the difficulty curve is just about right. In the future, you might add enemies that behave differently from each other to spice it up.
I enjoyed taking every little inch of energy from that wretched animal! Bwahahahaah!
Nice entry, played it through the end at the expense of my space bar. :D
A really well made game with excellent, clean graphics and audio. An interesting game mechanic aswell. :)
Nice entry. :) The storyline was good, and although some of the jokes were b-a-a-d, some of them were decent. :) Good game!
It's Cthulhu, so I like it. :D Nice effort!
Ok, here comes my first 5-star Overall rating. :) Avesome game, every aspect is well thought out and the outcome is a funny game which is also challenging and addictive. :)
Great entry! We need more levels!
Clearly there's some hard work here, the ship building system was cool with lots of options to choose. However, the shooter part of the game is kinda hard to figure out, and it's a little hard to line up shots without getting hit. I think the enemy ships should attack a lot less frequently in order for the player to feel in control.
Other than that, music and the graphics are cool aswell. Good effort.
Great game! Tried a couple of times but the boss was kinda hard. :) Graphics are really cool, gameplay is basic but addictive. Solid.
A basic idea, good execution, fun game!
A great idea and nice implementation. :) It was fun trying to make plans on how to separate the villagers. A little more user guidance would be ideal when starting the game.
The game has minor similarities to my entry regarding the environment, this is why it got my attention. :)
Hey, a nice game idea and it fits the theme perfectly. Good implementation aswell. A bit tough, but this is expected as it's a survival game. The only problem is the bonuses can only be used once or twice in a game and that number should be higher imo, even if they have to be tweaked to be less effective.
Good entry with a lot of things to do in. :) I had a blast with it. :) Better AI for soldiers would've been good but the game is really cool considering it's a compo entry. :)
Nice little game. :) Lost interest after a few minutes, but still a good game in the jam category.
763 points. Enjoyed it a lot! Haven't played centipede before but the reversal of it is appearently a snake game with some spaceship shooting at you. It was addictive and the difficulty was well-adjusted. Was there sound used in the game? Cause I've heard it in the beginning and it stopped after that.
Fits the theme well. Nicely done. :) Good sfx and gfx. Gameplay is solid too. :)
Good entry. Bricks were more of a trouble than the scientists for me. :) Enjoyed it. Simple and fun gameplay.
The only addition I can think of is maybe a little variety in the pattern the scientists come through. Maybe a few fixed formations that happen once in a while.
Nice entry, needs more levels. :) Background music sets a good mood.
Nice idea and good implementation. I tried the bug-fix version, as I think a little bug-fix does not interfere with the way I judge games. The controls were a bit hard to get used to, but the game itself was really addictive as I tried all of the worlds a couple of times and succeeded in more than half of them. Good entry!
Nice use of the theme. :) You should upload a post-compo version including sound, imo. A nicely made-up christmas song would greatly improve the game. :)
Solid entry! :) Good implementation of a well known formula with a few new things to spice it up. The atmosphere was perfect, it's so important to achieve this in games made in a small amount of time.
Fantastic idea! I loved it. I'll certainly check here for my progression, and I'll probably vote this game as the 100th game if I ever make it that far, along with a screenshot link of course. :)
The rhymes are fun to read, jumping controls are a bit frustrating but OK. Overall, an OK game.
Nice shoot'em up and I loved the idea of a "community collaboration" for graphics. Sadly, couldn't find bombs anywhere to get past the dino or the flower bosses.
Solid entry. It took a while to figure things out but the gameplay was fun afterwards.
However, after some point in my game, it felt like I was winning all the time and the AI was not keeping up, although this can be based on the fact that this is a game developed in two days.
Anyway, the game is fun and gets you in the mood. Keep working on it as I believe you have some potential on this one.
ViliX, thanks a lot for noticing that bug. That's the punishment for submitting the last version in panic. I've restored the previous build via Dropbox, and while it has another bug, it's less lethal and the game is playable.
I'll fix the bug tonight when I get to home from work.
Tovip, I didn't really have the time to think about balance issues and your point is a good one. Planning on doing a post-compo version with some tweaks and fixes.
Everyone, thank you so much for your comments!
So, in general, most of you think that the idea is cool and original, while gameplay could use a lot of improvement, along with more polish in graphics, sound effects and music.
I believe this idea has some potential to be converted into a mobile game. I see that a lot of you have put some suggestions on how to tweak the game in order to make it more appealing, and I thank you for that. I want to continue working on this game as soon as I find time to do so, and I'll take all the comments here into consideration.
Thanks again! Keep playing more Ludum Dare games!
Decent game but really tough to keep eyes on both screens. Had fun playing it. It can be improved in so many ways, including visuals and audio.
Finished it! Wonderful drawings, I loved the style. Overall it's a wonderful entry in such a short time frame. :)
Went two different directions in two plays and found a bunch of stuff.
It's a minor issue but as a player I found going as far as I can and dying to restart the game more practical than having to find your way back to the tent. So, the game can be exploited in this way.
The atmosphere, the graphics and sound effects are simply amazing and among the best I've seen so far. Great job.
I was thinking like, "Hey this is fun and easy..". I was wrong and I learned it the hard way after losing half of my ship due to a destroyed part in the middle in around level 13. I didn't last long after that..
Solid entry. Fun and challenging and deserves a couple more plays to get better at it.
Cute little game. Everything is fairly basic, the "stealth" element is nice but enemies should at least become alert when they're shot the first time, and not just stand there.
It took me a while to realize that I can destroy platforms aswell, and that realization was pretty cool. :)
Keep up the good work.
My idea and yours are kinda similar in terms of handling the theme, while they're completely different in gameplay. Your game has amazing graphics, and the concept of couples not getting along is cool. Although it's apparent that the game is not yet finished, I feel that it has potential and you should continue developing it.
Nice game, great graphics and atmosphere. The game has put me in a peaceful mood. :)
Cool idea, nice execution. Sometimes the game responded weird to my mouse clicks and didn't understand some of them, though. Other than that, it's fun to play it. :)
Nice entry. Kinda repetitive after a while but the solid graphics and audio make up for it.
Nice and simple idea. Well executed. Some polish, both in the graphics & sound department and edit tool options, would make it much better, but given the timeframe this is a very good entry. :)
Minimalist style and good controls make the game highly enjoyable. Solid entry.
45 moves and clear. :) Nice twist to the genre and fits the theme perfectly. Solid entry. Well done. :)
I laughed hard when I first noticed that enemies can kill your ships from different screens. Solid concept, simple and beautiful gameplay. Nice entry.
Obviously still has a long way to go before it's finished, but it's a nice start. I enjoyed the writing and the story was intriguing.
Raised two plants just to check if the second one is going to give different colors to flowers.. Nope. :) Nice entry.
Interesting try, a simple game to understand but real hard to beat sometimes, especially when sound feedback and visual feedback on giving the ideal landing speed does not give a clear idea when everything is happening too fast.
Other than that, I had no issues with the game at all and the victory music was great. :)
Shard timer and the enemies give a hard time to the player, however the core concept is easy to understand and results in a fun to play reflex puzzle. Liked it.
Had to stop at the third or fourth level with 4 screens. Top notch level design. Simple idea, brilliantly executed. A great overall game that captivated me from the beginning until frustration of 20 or so deaths in the same level. :)
Played the compo version first, post-compo version later. You've made solid progress over the week and managed to put up a well polished game in the end, congrats about that.
As we're voting on the compo version, I can say that the graphics, sfx and the core concept is really well thought out, and made me really interested in the book this game is based upon. A game end trigger doesn't exist (compo), however I had fun pushing rocks around and trying to do it as fast as possible.
Keep up the good work!
Decent game. I feel like you could've added more features but just ran out of time. It has some potential but some novel ideas must be added on.
Pretty little game you've got here. Not much of a challenge but the simplicity is appealing.
Nicely done, a great entry, although a bit loosely themed. Keep up the good work. I found the gameplay highly enjoyable.
As of this moment this game is among the best games I've played so far in this Ludum Dare. Music is incredible. Randomly generated caves are excellent, perhaps not because of their layout but because of the art style and the attention to detail.
Keep up the good work!
Alternate endings are great. There is little content here but still the overall concept is good and the game can improve beyond this level. Keep up!
Top notch audio, strong visuals and solid gameplay, the only complaint I have is sometimes the lava is too unforgiving when I'm trying to get over the bridge. Maybe it should not kill you if you touch lava while you're also touching a bridge.
Other than that, great entry overall.
Simple concept, good level design with a gentle difficulty curve. I had a lot of fun and I was able to cure Edmond. :)
The controls might have been more responsive or might have given better feedback while we're flicking the white blood cells around, but overall it's a nice entry.
Movement reversal is interesting, and music is top notch as everyone else mentioned. Hope you'll have better luck and more gameplay next time. :)
Quite a nice idea in my opinion. Once I figured it out the game became easier but it can be improved by increasing the difficulty somehow in the future.
Decent entry with nicely done graphics. Not much to do, but it was entertaining for a couple of minutes. :) Keep going.
I couldn't get past Under Pressure, so I'll refrain from rating it and come back here later to find what I'm supposed to do. I tried to replicate two distinct tones in the music but that didn't work. :)
@Thingo Studios
Got it! Thanks :)
Fun game, nice entry. :) Just played through once but it shows that you've put in a lot of effort and it paid out nicely in the end.
Good entry, the zoom level is ideal imo as it gives the game increased difficulty. I couldn't figure out the way out in the level which comes after the first medium difficulty level.
All game modes are great fun. :) Gotta say the Comet mode should increase in speed and difficulty over the time and should give more surprising events to the player aswell, but that'll come in time as it's obvious that you're planning to develop this further.
Keep up the good work!
I've made it up until the 3rd red boss before the rage-quit, I guess. I didn't count how many times I died, but in the end this game is a polished example of good level design. Solid entry. :)
After almost getting to the point of breaking my keyboard, I skipped tutorial and tried the first level. It's a decent bullet hell implementation. Thank you for your efforts. :)
Thank you for participating in Ludum Dare. While unfinished, this is a great first attempt and I hope we'll see you again next time in December. :)
This was a cute entry and a decently hard reflex puzzle as well. It was a bit short but satisfying. Thanks for your entry. :)
Considering your time constraints this is a decent attempt, albeit a bit buggy.
I played the game thrice, in the first two times going as deep as level 3, and I only encountered ships in my first game and only right when I started the game. I've seen no more enemies from that point, which is not really ideal for a game like this.
At my final attempt, I encountered a fountain of bullets, looking like coming from out of nowhere, right next to a pair of red ships ignoring me. :) It was quite funny and that bullet hell got my life. :)
Funny game, it took me a while to figure out what to do, but that's because this was a part of the game aswell. Nice entry. :)
Good entry, I really loved the core idea and the implementation is simple but it can be improved in the future. I liked the game, but the lack of audio is an important minus.
The game might be simple, but the high-score element had me try higher for 5-6 times. Best I've got is 3992, pretty close to the current high score of 4432.
Concept is good and gameplay is challenging. I played 5-6 times and I have a high score of 6. This game, if enhanced properly with more features, can also act as a 2 player game and remain challenging. Nice idea and decent implementation.
I too, have encountered that spamming S results in multiple boxes on the right side.
Other than that, I've noticed a slowdown of the game as you keep going higher, I don't know if its only in the web build or every one.
I tried hard and did a decent second attempt, although I wasn't so sure if the "space debris" around had any effect on my score. I thought I was doing fine when I encountered the game score screen so I'm not sure if I missed any other rules. :)
Wonderful graphics and a cute jam entry. Gameplay is fun, but the ship is not easy to control and that's the most challenging part. Keep up the good work!
Nice little game with very cute graphical style. :) The darkness issue stephen mentioned caught my eye too, it can be improved.
Thanks for your efforts. :)
This was a really cool idea, all those intersecting lights and the presentation of connected worlds really felt in place. Overall, the game is short but as it's just a proof of concept it's sweet. Congrats on such a cool game.
P.S. I haven't played Closure, therefore can't comment on the similarities.
Nicely detailed graphics with hard but decent gameplay elements. My highscore was only 475 and I restarted a lot of times, just couldn't get the hang of switching at the right moment, I guess.
Good game but can be improved in so many ways in the future. :)
It may be unfinished but just throw in another five or six levels and it's a good game imo. Music and graphics are nice from what I've seen. Keep working on it.
Won 1 out of 3 tries in Strategy and then moved over to action mode, where I discovered more lovely mechanics. Really nice lite-4x game, the strategy game is solid and the action mode is fun. You should keep working on this! :)
Nice entry, a bit short but has a lot of potential if work continues. :) Keep up the good work! The theme relation with this genre was nicely thought out.
Wow, really great and well polished game, considering it's only made in two days. I had great fun with it. Lasted for 6 or 7 stations, and the difficulty curve is gentle at first but gets hard faster when you hit a certain point. Thanks for your entry, I enjoyed it!
Second stage is hard, and I pushed ESC, hoping for a pause menu in habit. Starting over seemed like too much of a chore considering going over first stage again.
Still, this feels like a complete Ludum Dare entry where nothing is left behind. Graphics, sound effects and gameplay feels complete. Good work!
I would've definitely finished this game if there weren't so many games to spend time with. It's the most content I've seen in a Ludum Dare game so far. Many different factory types, all of them different in some way. I've managed to try five different types of factories and it was a cool feeling to design slightly different for each of them.
That being said, I feel like the game could've been more challenging if there were some kind of a failure condition. This way it just feels a little sandbox-y. (unless there's a time constraint I'm not aware of)
So, what do I have to do to... oh.. OH!
Nice idea. Nice music.
Decent game with hard controls and an AI that can be exploited. I enjoyed the game and finished three levels but got killed twice in the final level before I quit. One more enemy type could've been interesting.
Great graphics. Hardcore gameplay. One hit to die mechanic really tested my patience but on the other hand, I'd waste a ton of coins to this game if it was in an arcade cabinet. The base mechanic is simple and efficient. Solid entry.
Graphics are definitely the high point for this game and the idea is decent. It has room for improvement and I'd love to see a more fleshed out version of this.
This game definitely needs levels and more gameplay options. Core idea is amazing and should be iterated upon, it's worth a try.
It's obvious that a lot of effort went to the graphics and they're really cute. Gameplay is ok, it does what it aims to do, I had fun in the brief amount of time that I've spent in the game.
Pretty cool game, died twice in the final level but was able to finish it. Level design is impressive for a 48 hour game jam. The game had some good ideas, and executed them well.
I kinda looked for more options to use our glowy companion with, such as using it as a temporary shield against darkness attacks.
Thank you for this good game. Keep up the good work.
It's good idea and a solid implementation in a short amount of time, regardless of what was ready before the jam started.
Small bug found: Multiplier acts crazy after clicking the restart button to start a new game. I've seen 25x.
Congrats on your first entry. Game is pretty straightforward but it's definitely not easy. Considering this is your first game, simplicity is understandable but you could've adjusted the difficulty curve better, resulting in a smoother and more relaxed gameplay. :)
Nevertheless, keep up the good work and continue making games!
Quite hard to understand at first, especially when a person has no idea about fishing. :) Still, graphics are really good and the style fits the atmosphere well. Good game, although it's a bit tough.
I think the game has potential, but some adjustments should be made. Beacon radius is too small in my opinion, we can't control and direct blue cubes as well as we could. Also, I wanted to find a way to destroy some of the red cubes, perhaps by exploding our beacons but there weren't any. Gameplay has potential but needs more work.
Keep up the good work!
Nice little adventure, but shooting zombies with a spudcannon (almost) never works. :D
Solid entry, cool graphics and music. Instructions were quite necessary, otherwise there'd be no way for me to figure things on my own. Still, a good game. Congrats!
Nice little memory game you've got here. :) Sounds are pretty decent. :)
Music is amazing. Overall, the game is a bit too hard, maybe a simpler song would've been better. Other than that, the graphics are also solid and I've no complaints about the attachment to the theme either. :)
Hard to maneuver your ship, then again that's why you're expected to crash into asteroids to clear a path! :) Fun idea but the game itself is a little rough around the edges. Then again, this is expected for a LD compo entry.
Decent entry.
Really good effort here! Congrats! Weapons are nice and it's impressive to have five options available. Game itself is challenging and fun. The only downside I can think about is that the text weapon is too hard to use when there are lots of moving enemies around.
Keep up the good work.
A unique world with many interesting features. Gameplay is not smooth, but the game is worth playing for the graphics and music alone.
A spider insisted on me riding on his back and the only times I was able to get off his back were the times he was preparing for a hit. He did finish me off in that occasion.
Solid entry. I couldn't stop playing until the end. Core gameplay aspects are good and the progression feeling is very well implemented with more plant types appearing at the right moment. I expected a boss fight in the end, but I guess you did a great job given the time limit. Keep up the good work!
Damn it I can't get past level 2, and I tried 4 times, those icy lakes are tricky. Great idea, collision models could've been better at some places, in level 1 there was an opening between the bushes where I couldn't get through.
Nice game, nice entry. Good work!
A decent attempt on the subject of an unconventional weapon. Gets old quickly but fun while it lasts.
Had some performance issues with the game on my laptop. I'll try later on my desktop. No rating for now. :)
Finally played it. Solid game with a fantastic idea. It felt quite hard at first but it gets easier when you familiarize yourself with the movement. Collecting hats is hard with all the enemies around, though.
Sound effects were hilarious and the graphics are as cute as they can get. Maybe some music on the background would've been a nice touch. All different kinds of squids are great, but I kind of missed a better way of recognizing them instead of the slight change of color.
Solid entry. Good work!
It's an interesting experience, however I expected better sound quality. All the button mashing just results in a loud noise and it does not matter which button you press at all. These are a couple of things that take away from the experience.
With that being said, I believe you've made a good game and you've spent a considerable amount of time in it, thank you for your entry. Keep up the good work!
Arghh, I was so close! Gradually getting city populations so the same levels was a tense and uphill battle while time was running out. Very well done. I kinda wanted to see a high score table even if I was unable to win, though, but I guess that can be done in a post-compo version.
Great job!
Nice effort on the graphics and the general atmosphere, you nailed them. Only thing I missed was to hear some simple tunes on the background. Nice entry!
Nice multiplayer game, I tried it by myself but I'll definitely try it with an opponent tonight. Takes some time to adjust yourself to all the forces involved in movement.
Not a bad attempt for a shot at learning programming. The creatures should spawn closer to the screen edge so that my random shooting affects less creatures off the screen. Also, the game definitely needs at least the smallest amount of sound effects and music to get the player in the mood.
Keep up the good work. You'll get better in coding if you practice.
Difficulty escalated pretty quickly. Level 5 and 21K is my high score in three plays. The game has a high level of attention to detail, I loved how the top right corner UI indicated the next items to get thrown out. I felt like I abused the middle airlock and didn't use much of the other ones, maybe if they led straight left and right I'd use them much more often.
Now this is how you interpret a theme. Great idea. Wonderful execution. Third row is a bit unforgiving, though. Before that you had a loop that you can use to take all the time you wanted. Third row significantly alters the difficulty and I believe without it the "slow-down" option wouldn't be necessary at all. Maybe you can also loop the third row to the beginning first row somehow.
Otherwise, top notch game. It is obvious that yuo know how to get things done. Good work.
Interesting! I followed a plan that focused on getting as much squares on the board as possible, ignoring the placement of my clicks in the process. That didn't work quite so well. I got 316 but the later half of the game was pretty much random after seeing that my plan didn't turn out to be well thought out. :)
It has a simple but neat twist to puzzle games and it successfully gets the player in the mood. Solid entry!
@FenyesJ, @CryoGenesis: thanks for leaving a comment, I have returned the favor. :)
@TechXSoftware: Alternatively, you can represent two sides with white and black colors but you have to use 3 pieces each of 5 different shapes for both colors. Still, I understand that it's a lot of work to find 30 suitable tokens to play the game.
@MrDave: It is easy to learn when I taught it to my friends, but some of the movement rules were still fiddly according to them. I've learned that a rulebook is very hard to write, especially if English is not your native language. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
@JoeManaco: If you try the game, please write another comment on how it plays. Someone learning this game with the rulebook and playing a proper game would be a landmark achievement for me. :)
@hugheth: Thank you for your kind comments. I think I need to play this game a lot more before I can see if stalemates are a problem. If you can try it at home, leave another comment below. These are really precious to me.
@Geckoo1337: A video is a wonderful idea. I don't have equipment to tape a good video, but I'm thinking about using a software to simulate the game on screen and I might put up a video playing against myself in my computer. However, this is not a promise.
Everyone, thank you so much. I've played all of your games and left a comment on your game pages. I'm hoping for more comments from the people who vote my game. Currently I'm at 7 comments with 13 votes and I don't think the 6 votes who are silent have played the game either. :)
I've now uploaded a video of the gameplay of Ejderhalar! You can find it in the Links section above!
Without reading the rules, it might be hard to understand what's going on. But you should be able to figure out if the game is something you might be interested in.
Have fun and leave a comment here if you watch the video. :)
Everyone, thank you for your kind comments. Do return and comment again if you find the time to play the game. :)
@timtipgames: You've done an amazing thing and thanks a lot for this. In your video, the first game gets the rules about movement correct, while on the second game you do lots of mistakes. Still, this has been very insightful for me and I was able to tweak the rulebook slightly to make it v1.3 thanks to your contributions.
@NarwhalMan53 thanks! if you have any suggestions, i'd love to hear them.
@Mantlair (Turkish):
Decent entry. Powerups are a nice thought that kept me playing on for a while. Maybe, the movement could've been more like twin stick shooters (with a gamepad, ofc). Keep on working on it, you might make it bigger and better.
Nice entry. The hat is a nice touch. I did my best to travel as far as possible but gave up after ten tries or so with my score around twenties. Procedural levels would've increased the lifetime of the game for me. Keep up the good work.
I saved my village! Barely. It was just a matter of time as two giants were fast approaching to my wall.
What I like:
Difficulty curve. It moves up gradually until it hits hard mode on Level 20 or so.
Graphics. The cute style matches well with the game and reminds me of Warcraft a bit.
Music. Sound effects were good but the music is better. It goes well with the forest background, too.
Fun. I had a great time with the game and I'd play it again if a post compo version with more stuff ever gets made.
What I dislike:
Not much. I haven't played it enough to test if there's imbalance between large and small vikings, but I'll try to go with a "small but plenty" tactic on my next play. Only after that I can judge if the "only one viking to fight with another" can be exploited.
Overall: This is a solid game. 5 stars imo. And this is not because you reviewed my game with care, this is because Vikings is really a good game. :)
Ok, at first I was thinking like "Oh, this is easy, heh...". Twenty seconds later I was cursing at the screen. Lasted 76 seconds. Nice job for such a limited amount of time.
Small bug report: Objects go through your walls if your game window is not in focus. (i.e. you're on another tab)
Nicely done. I played for 10 minutes and got a score of 12 for three round trips consisting of 2, 4 and 6 ores.
The shapeshifting guys are super creepy and you panic at the moment you get hit by a stone coming out of nowhere in your line of sight. Tension was high around the rocky areas and I liked that part of the gameplay.
I believe setting a fixed time frame is not necessary and 20 minutes is a long time for a level. It might be better to divide the game in a few levels and have the player progress by collecting a fixed number of ores.
Good entry! Keep up the good work. I especially loved the submarine, it was beautiful.
Beautiful music and such a simple game which is executed nicely. Good job. :)
Controls are very difficult indeed. :) I managed to survive until Wave 3 but with a simpler control scheme I think I'd be able to enjoy it a lot more. The game core itself is pretty fun and the interesting formation of the pigs gives the player enough to think about. Will you drink water with the middle one or rotate towards the enemy to squirt with the ones on the corners?
Good job, but look into the control model if you want to continue with the idea. :)
Highest score was... 40, maybe? Movement was a little slow to catch up with the shapes on screen. Overall, it's a decent game with a good amount of polish. It has room for improvement.
By the way, that grid is a little bit distracting & could've been better.
Decent attempt. It's pretty easy to exploit the mechanic and just jump continuously to get through the level. Other than that, nice work!
This was a cute entry. Drawings and the music sets the mood perfectly and the story was great. :) Good work.
A unique take on the theme and a nice puzzle platformer. Thanks for your entry!
This hit the right spot as I'm currently reading through a Sherlock Holmes novel. Brilliant idea. Top notch execution. I liked it a lot. Beat it twice on easy and once on hard.
Sure, it's not finished, but spending this much effort to rendering is remarkable. Kudos!
This was remarkable. I'm stuck on Level 3 and there's almost definitely an easier way than what I'm currently trying to do right now. The game has the highest amount of polish I've seen in this edition of Ludum Dare. It's a brilliant concept. Keep up the good work!
It's ok. A few sound clips would've done a lot for me to feel like I'm in a spaceship. There's not much to do, but I liked just jumping around and shooting a few asteroids for a while.
There were lots of red zones and I felt like there wasn't an obvious strategy to clear them in the right order to always have enough money for the next potion. I randomly wandered around clearing red zones as long as my hp and my gold allowed me to do so.
The game needs a lot more work, but the basic concept is not bad. The player should have some meaningful choices in the fleshed out version if he/she is to have any fun.
Puzzles were quite tough, but it's a good game overall. You get satisfaction out of solving the problem. Good entry.
A solid entry. Different characters have a lot of distinct properties and from time to time I had trouble solving some of the problems that I've encountered. Nevertheless, this is quite a successful game for 48 hours. Well done.
I think it was not possible to get a score if you die instead of using esc. It's a decent game, can be improved with a good scoring and combo system. Thank you for your entry.
It was OK, I guess. There's not much to talk about, but you can definitely improve this game.
I got it right on the first try, but I can't say I wasn't a bit lucky. Nice entry!
It's a good entry. My high score is 72k and I died on Wave 24. Moving is not very beneficial, as standing still gives you a better aim at the enemies. The game was pretty easy and got repetitive over time but the base structure is solid and the game can be improved.
Adding moving, big, slow platforms to force player ship to change its position would solve the problem of being stationary. This would also make the game harder.
This is a good implementation of a decent idea and it was fun to play it. Although it would've been better if I had the option to begin from the same level that I got killed instead of the first one.
Good game with an interesting concept. My best was 3 captured, 2 innocent kills and 1 alien kills. Keep up the good work.
This is a solid entry. The basic premise is a great idea and the theme is there in a simple but efficient mechanic that integrates with the core game flawlessly. Good work. It's a shame there are no sound effects or music.
Tebrikler. Oyunu çok beğendim. Kendini geliştirmeye devam et, bilgisayar oyunları kariyer yapılabilecek bir alan.
Great fun! First time I tried WASD and failed miserably. Score was 7. Second time I switched to the arrow keys and it was much better. I actually killed around 20 of them before I got stuck in one of the passages on the edges of the screen. I exit one of them and then immediately entered back. After that I was not able to return back to the play area.
This is a really good entry and a huge amount of fun to play. Keep up the good work.
I loved it! Finished with discovering 18 creatures, 15 of them solved.
One little nitpick. If I know all the elements of a creature or an abomination when it's attacking, I should be able to destroy it immediately, as it's slowing down the game a little bit to just go through that phase.
I think this was one of the best games I've played this Ludum Dare. Congrats on such a clean design and enjoyable gameplay.
It's an interesting idea, but the implementation has much room to grow. Some of the shapes are almost impossible to come up with without checking the hints. (the key, for example) I hope you keep working on this, it might become something decent.
A good entry. I usually kept myself as a certain shape until I was able to spawn a lot of enemies from another one. One shapeshift later, most of the enemies are harmless. Nice use of the mechanic.
This was beautiful. Graphics are made with love and it has a really good story that gets you in the mood pretty quick. Congrats on such a nice game!
A good entry overall. Has some amount of polish and a nice difficulty curve. It's not too hard or too easy, just right. Good work!
Decent entry. But the fixed time limit puts too much pressure on the player, imo.
A simple concept. It's implemented cleanly. There are many other entries which just tell you the buttons for changing a shape without telling you which button is assigned to which shape. Therefore, the tooltip on the bottom right made things much easier.
Decent idea, but the execution could've been better. There's room to improve here, you should work on it.
Got a score of 21. A nice game. Nothing much. Good work, though!
Nice graphics, gameplay is shallow but the game is nice for what it is. :) It can be improved and extended with many other ideas.
Brilliant game. It was rather short, I could've played along for a couple more levels. It was everything one can hope for in a puzzle platformer about shapeshifting. Keep up the good work!
It's a decent puzzle game. I had some problems with the windows size and some parts of the gameplay area were not visible to me, therefore I couldn't progress past Level 4. Anyway, thanks for the entry!
Nice clicker. The shapeshifting was tacked on, but it's ok. :)
I can't run it, it crashes right after I double click on the .exe file. I'll check the entry page again to see if you release a fix for it.
Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy and entertaining for a while. Move slow, keep an eye on the shapeshifting cooldown, stick around the spawn point, kill bad guys and collect fuel.
It gets repetitive pretty quick and UI elements on the bottom right can't be seen when there's a wall object under them.
Other than these issues, it's a good entry. Nice job!
Oh, OH! Also, Start button didn't work for me. Don't know why.
This was quite hard. 45 seconds was my best score. The bullet hell aspect was nicely implemented. It'd be interesting to see procedural waves, but I understand that such a thing is against the nature of bullet hell shooters.
This is a good entry. All three forms have advantages and disadvantages, but I kinda disliked Artemis because of the bad line of sight. Hera is good for getting out of tough positions but you lose a good amount of health in the process.
Overall, it's a good game. It can be improved by more levels (instead of one) and can benefit from different color palettes for these levels. Keep up the good work!
Umm, I really had no idea what to do and how to do it. :/
Ok, there was nothing to do, but great effort was spent into graphics and music, so the game gets a lot of points in that area. However, as the whole undercover concept is not really playable in the game, theme sort of falls flat in the game. Decent entry, could've been better.
Solid entry! Got 109 on my first try. It's really easy to swing the votes in your favor, I guess that's pretty realistic. Top quality work!
It was a really fun experience! I enjoyed the game and the drinking game tips are a nice little bonus thought. :)
It's a decent idea but the game is a bit tough and it's hard to progress through some of the levels. Anyway, good work!
Decent game. Higher levels are too fast for my reflexes in medium and hard difficulty. In Hard, at early levels, the hardest part is to get the first shapes done correctly. Maybe it should give the player a couple of seconds to understand the shapes before sending in the first wave.
Other than that, congratulations on your first attempt in Ludum Dare. You've made a nice game. :)
Pretty decent idea and nice execution. A bit hard but I enjoyed it!
A solid entry for LD. The towers were moving too fast to get any meaningful captures. I was just trying to close off some towers while other towers were emerging in my way of putting down more scaffolds, stripping me off my precious metals in the process. I couldn't play it well, but kudos to everyone who was able to. :)
This was awesome and I'm not saying that just because I'm drunk. Nope. It truly was awesome. Yep.
You could try 2 player by only using WASD and arrow keys for a 1v1 match. For a post-compo version, selecting number of players is a thing I have in mind.
Thanks for comments.
Tough! But it was a decent game. Keep up the good work. You'll get better over time!
Great idea and a really polished game. Finished it. Love the way Santa "encourages".
Look at me, jumping around, collecting stalactites...
(dies)
...oh. So it isn't about collecting stalactites, then.
Decent entry. Keep up the good work.
Nice game, gives a cozy feeling. Quite simple but fun to play. Good job.
