LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Smileraser by The-Force 2015-04-22T12:43:00

Great idea, and a great visual style.
Maybe I'm just lazy/stupid, but I found it nearly impossible to actually erase anything though!
Leaving behind bits of eraser and blowing them away is a lovely touch.

Dislocator by arhpositive 2015-04-21T19:44:00

Definitely a novel approach to a space shooter - and it worked well. The aesthetic is uncluttered and effective, and nicely carried through the whole game.

Ice Story ( koori monogatari 氷物語 ) by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2015-04-22T22:02:00

Fantastic graphics and audio! That definitely took me back to playing Bubble Bobble on the C64 :) Great work.

Stop the Goblin Army by rhill 2015-04-21T22:38:00

It throws an error and won't load in the Unity player for me, sadly :( I'm running Safari on MacOS.

Miyu by SecondDimension 2015-04-21T18:30:00

Amazing visuals and great sound. I really enjoyed the chilled vibe, thanks!

Gloom by Azlen 2015-04-22T13:13:00

Interesting idea, and immediately very atmospheric and intriguing. Good stuff!
I'd suggest a few near-constant sound sources dotted around the world (e.g. dripping water, a snoring pig, a scuttling cockroach) so that you can use them to orientate yourself and have a more intuitive feel for how much you've turned.

Compassion by masterboth 2015-04-21T17:06:00

Looks nice and can see this could expand to other levels as you gain friends.

Wash It by LukuluK 2015-04-22T21:41:00

I thought it looked good, despite your computer problems. The music was really great! (I love that you had a specific 'guitarist' role on the team :D) One of the green (unlocked) doors wouldn't open for me after a while, but I enjoyed what I saw, thanks.

Fish n' Ships by nickonetwenty 2015-04-21T23:14:00

It's a real shame you didn't get to finish it, as the look and feel of sailing around is great. The art-style is lovely! I hope you get to develop it further.

Save the Spoon by OniiRam 2015-04-22T12:52:00

That combo of weapons definitely counts as unconventional! Fun game!

What Have We Created?! by Ranmara 2015-04-21T19:55:00

Very nicely put together. My only minor criticism is that the monster battle stage can be quite long and slow to progress, given the lack of interaction. Nice work!

Pigeon Potente by Kuupu 2015-04-21T22:15:00

Very impressive art and music. Liked the unusual single-button control interface - took me a minute to understand the way the skills are triggered.

Robo Limb by ThreeUp 2015-04-21T23:28:00

Tremendous animations and realism in the robot characters, particularly given the time constraints. Nicely done!

Hug Arena by Benjamin 2015-04-21T16:35:00

Fun to play and good use of hugs as an unconventional weapon. Like the added rewards for completing certain levels. Good game.

Badass Inc by deepnight 2015-04-21T16:54:00

Very nice looking game and it made me laugh out loud.

Ludicrous Battleaxes by muumeroinen 2015-04-22T11:39:00

Great fun, and very slick - thanks!
Loving the look of the axe trails, and the whole world slowly spinning somehow makes it seem even more dangerous.
Think I'd probably prefer independent move/spin controls.
The variety in enemy types works a treat - plenty of depth from learning how to best handle each kind.

The Grand Carpet Hotel by dunin 2015-04-22T12:23:00

Great idea, and nicely implemented - good stuff!
(Royal Tenenbaums Tennis next please!)

The Hicet: Iceburglary by TTFTCUTS 2015-04-21T16:21:00

Liking the overall look. The gameplay was novel and enjoyable to play, thanks!

Ion cannon by umb16 2015-04-21T20:17:00

Really fresh gameplay and very addictive - had to force myself to stop playing :) I'm not a especially drawn to pixel art, but I loved the look of this and the aesthetic fit the game perfectly. It gave me flashbacks to arcade Gauntlet. Awesome!

Le Chef Farteaut by diegomachado 2015-04-21T17:26:00

Hilarious weapon choice and looks nice too.

Uprooted - a carrot simulator by Two Scoop Games 2015-04-21T22:58:00

24 carrot gold! (Sorry...) I found it pretty hard, but I like one-button interface and procedural map. For some reason it hangs for me if I do a full charge (Safari, MacOS), so I had to be careful not to do that.

Sheep by Cstudios 2015-04-21T18:57:00

Looks like an interesting concept. Unfortunately, I too was unable to get through the first section.

iRevolution by Suvidriel 2015-04-22T16:36:00

Lovely concept (we toyed with something along those lines, but couldn't come up with anything as good!) and lovely whole vibe to it.
Only complaint would be that it feels slow - I'd like to be able to work harder to help my cause.
Fits the theme brilliantly, and you can infer all sorts of political/social metaphors from just about every aspect of the game - really good stuff.

Character Assassination by jesterswilde 2015-04-21T19:33:00

Very slick. Nice visuals and funny, if a bit harsh :)

IFF by eott 2015-04-22T16:56:00

I like the core idea - having to confuse/convert enemies rather than destroying them directly is a good and interesting mechanic.
I'm sure you did it for good reasons, but the 3 limit doesn't feel terribly natural, and (maybe it's a brilliant riff on the weapon itself!) often confused me.
Like the tron/circuit-board background - nice world to be playing in.
Thanks!

Bonfires by Ivan Sukhanov 2015-04-22T11:53:00

Looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous - nice work!
Even if it were light on specific gameplay mechanics, just wandering through a variety of worlds with that whole aesthetic would be very mellow and enjoyable.

Vinnie Cancer by Asado 2015-04-22T10:46:00

Navigating and shooting/dodging is entertaining, and made me want to keep playing.
Nice touch having the tanks rock back when hit, and smoke rising from them works well to let you know they're dead.
I'm all for dark humour, and I know it's well intended, but I think the giving-them-cancer idea is perhaps a bit TOO nasty :-) Maybe throw nicotine patches at them to STOP them smoking/shooting!
Fun playing it - thanks!

Eustus: On the Squid Farm by Tasteslikefuture 2015-04-21T22:31:00

Thanks for a truly surreal experience! Your painted textures are really unique.

Love is in the air by BabaJaga 2015-04-21T19:03:00

Great look. I found it the difficulty curve a bit too steep, but that may just be my lack of skill :)

The Goose Saga by kipelovets 2015-04-21T20:10:00

Loved the silhouette style graphics and the bizarre attack animation! Gameplay can be a bit unforgiving at times, consider the number of challenges in a row.

Un-Convention by zulubo 2015-04-22T21:52:00

Love the pun-based name :) Nice work.

Law Simulator by bernardery 2015-04-22T11:05:00

Absolutely love the writing - great stuff! Thanks!
Great overall structure of being story-heavy punctuated with totally different one-off mini-games, works really well.
Couldn't for the life of me do the fishing pole game unfortunately. (web version)
Now I'm just off to re-read Infinite Jest... honest.

Affectionate Armament by ekkiiiii 2015-04-21T15:36:00

Loved the dynamic elements of the platforming. Nicely done!

A Snowball's Chance by diiq2 2015-04-21T22:47:00

I like the concept. We also made a game about snowballs, with almost the same name - weird. The audio didn't work for me for some reason (Safari on MacOS), but I liked the visuals and general gameplay.

Don't die, Red! by goglmogl 2015-04-21T20:04:00

I wasn't completely sure what I was doing quite a lot of the time, but it was a fun space to explore. I really liked the tile-based map and the music is awesome. Nicely done!

A God's Weapon by DavidErosa 2015-04-21T17:21:00

I took me a while to get used to the amount of force needed. Hilarious when your population flies out of the solar system unintentionally. Good concept.

Snowball's Chance by MasterOfNaN 2015-04-21T15:38:00

Thanks very much!

Snowball's Chance by MasterOfNaN 2015-04-21T18:31:00

Thanks very much for the feedback folks, keep it coming!

Snowball's Chance by MasterOfNaN 2015-04-21T20:21:00

@rplnt Definitely. We did what we could across the board within the time limit, but we'd definitely like to do more with the AI and general flow of the level. The hat collection bonus is our main feature to encourage more varied movement and risk-taking at the moment. Thanks for the feedback!

Snowball's Chance by MasterOfNaN 2015-04-23T12:05:00

Wow, thanks again for the very supportive and constructive comments!

Snowball's Chance by MasterOfNaN 2015-04-28T20:34:00

Thanks very much for the continued feedback - we really appreciate it!

DRILL KNIGHT by Cryotube 2015-04-28T21:00:00

I dig (hehe) the overall style and it feels solid. I found it pretty difficult to start with, but I was able to knock enough off over time to feel a bit better about myself :)

Mutiny on Samovar V by Fabraz 2015-04-21T15:57:00

Awesome music and general vibe. Like the clever rotation/gravity mechanic too.

Super SALT Helmet by DarkwindMedia 2015-04-22T16:16:00

Awesome! Definitely one of my favourites so far.
Really good across the board - there's nothing that's shoddy, and plenty of stand-out aspects.
Customisation is nicely done, and a crazy thing to add to a jam game!
But basically I just love the slo-mo big hits - really classily done - sounds great, looks great, and feels wildly satisfying - nice work!

Inverse Zombies by illuware 2015-04-22T21:19:00

That's a really novel concept and it made for interesting play. I had quite a few occasions where I'd think I would die only to find I'd *just* converted one in time.

ldds by ldds 2015-04-21T15:50:00

I also found it a little confusing, but you managed to fit a lot in there in a short time!

Lethal Throw by ermrk 2015-04-21T17:50:00

Tricky to master, but a great gameplay concept. Nice.

Viking Insult Fight by ARubino 2015-04-22T10:34:00

Great idea, and nicely polished - the subtle animations make a big difference to giving it some personality and energy.
The constant early losing is slightly frustrating - perhaps giving the player an easy win over a rubbish enemy in the second round, using something you learnt in the first round, but where you don't learn anything new would be a good way to reinforce the 'losing-is-learning' mechanic, and make you feel happier about future loses.
Good stuff, thanks!

Rescue Mr.Furrybottom by dray 2015-04-21T17:44:00

Awesome overall look! FYI, it hanged on the end of game menu each time for me on MacOS.

Trappy Trap by trappytrap92 2015-04-21T17:34:00

I found it tough to remember the enemy/weapon combos, but I guess that's the idea :) Nice work!

The Landscape Processor by Simon 2015-04-22T12:31:00

Oddly soothing and compelling, and totally different from anything else I've seen so far - thanks!
