This was very fun! Going on a rampage as a dinosaur, awesome!

This was very fun! Going on a rampage as a dinosaur, awesome!
I liked this a lot! Reminded me of Elite actually. I got no sound for some reason (Firefox), but the mood was awesome.
It was a bit too static, but the graphics were immersing. I finished it on my first go as well :)
quite fun!! TOp marks for audio and graphics!
Very cool idea, very innovative. I liked the graphics as well, kudos Bneutral
THIS WAS AWSOME DUDE. I smiled so hard when my blue cube appeared. Instant emotional connection. Very clever. The challenges themselves could be more interesting, but the emotional connection you were able to create did it for me.
Simple and well-made. I loved how forgiving it was with its hit detection. Graphics were effective too. The main sprite is awesome as it should!
Amazing game! Kept me busy for a good hour first time I played! Reminds me fondly of populous. Cute graphics too!
I loved it! Very hard to balance, but I loved the game mechanic. Top marks for theme too
Was not able to get very far, but I liked the game!
One of my faves. Top marks on everything. Your hard work really shows through, you guys
I found it really really hard, but so beautiful and mood-setting, that I gave this full marks. Please, please do something with the difficulty, I like this too much :)
Very very fun! Top marks for fun, theme and graphics. Lovely :)
You know what I would have loved? If, when you die, you get to select your new reincarnation. Sort of like what the Harbinger does in Mass Effect 3. That would be all kinds of awesome. Top marks for innovation :)
This is awesome, you guys! Full marks :))
Very fun! Thank you! Top marks for theme, audio and mood :)
Aww this was so cool. Thank you steamgirl! I wish I had more visual cues for when something is happening, but I guess that would have meant more animation, and I know 48 hours isn't the time to make more animation :))
Top marks for theme, graphics and mood!
Indirect control is fantastic, and this has so much potential. Full marks on innovation too. It's lemmings-y and awesome :)
Top marks for innovation, fun and theme! Lovely lovely game
It was cool exploring all the monuments. I would have liked some sort of motivation though.
Great job!
The graphics are amazing. How did you even find time? Are you finishing this? It's much better with the fixed collisions! Top marks for graphics and mood.
It was very hard for me because of the controls. But the art is absolutely amazing, and completely on-theme! Thank you for this!
4/5 for theme, graphics, audio and humor!!
Very innovative! It reminds me of a round-world galaga. I felt a little powerless, so maybe it could use some tighter controls (which were already pretty tight), or a more powerful way to deal with those guys? Amazing that you managed to get winning conditions *and* bonus conditions. Top marks for theme, graphics and innovation.
What! How can this not be more popular? Top marks on everything. You are a gamer's game developer. This goes to my featured at once.
http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2012/05/11/tinytanic-please-give-this-game-some-love/ <- featured here, for what it's worth! I was immediately in love with the humour and visual gags.
Fantastic mood and top marks for graphics you guys! I loved this
awesome graphics :))
absolutely stunning graphics, way to go! The music was effective too. I would have preferred not to black out the screen completely between changes. It would be cheap to leave the GUI where it is and just make the earth black. It would give you something to rest your eyes on. As it is, it makes me feel a bit uneasy. And then I look at the new awesome art and I'm happy again ^-^ Top marks for graphics
Beautiful, beautiful graphics! Top marks for innovation as well
Awwww so adorable! Full marks for graphics
I love the idea. Well done!
The music is amazing! Also very interesting gameplay and effective art style
Why are the graphics so awesome!!!!! :) You hit the nail on the head with the theme and graphics, never mind that there's no real goal :)
I had already given this top marks, I didn't remember not having commented. This is brilliant, the mood, theme and execution were exceptional. Kudos for this!
Loved the dance animation. Made me laugh. It's very hard to control the character because of the though!
performance was horible for me, but i loved the idea! Good fun!
Top marks for humor, theme and innovation, both of you
Haven't slept for 40 hours to make this.
Very pleasantly reminicscent of Cave story and Wonderboy. The sprites are huge and lovely, but what gripped me are the colors! I'm saving screenshots for my reference folder!! The music is amazing as well
Very very cool! Among my favorites. I love the words that comprise the background, it's so old-school platform. (For some reason, Prehistorik2 came to mind). I love the mini-game mechanic
Aww so sweet. I wish my butterfly didn't glide off-screen, but otherwise, I like this butterfly simulator :)
liked the music
Very fun, top marks for mood, audio, graphics, everything really, except for the theme, maybe :)
I like the idea. The game feels a little tedious and slow to control however. Mainly because the *long* 2 second blackouts in between.
My only criticism would be the fade to black in between moves. It feels a little too flickery. I'd reduce it a bit, and maybe reduce its duration, to speed up gameplay. Otherwise, very innovative and fun! Kudos
5 stars for Innovation and Theme. It's unique
Very cool. Reminds me of Ikaruga, but maybe just because I have Ikaruga on my mind these days :)
One of the first I played. This is fantastic. I finished it in no time, and loved it!
Only one thing to say: when do I actually play the final version? This was super fun you guys! Thank you!
We made a shump too. Your explosions look great!
fantastic game. Thank you for this! Top marks for fun, mood and innovation. I love games that make you feel omnipotent
Top marks for innovation, mood, theme and graphics. Are you finishing this?
I think they music could work some humanizing. The banjo is too mechanical. But of course it's a 48 hour compo, so yeah :) Melodically it was very good. Gameplay was great, graphics were very cute. I could have used a "what comes next" icon. Otherwise, full marks!
The music was immersing, the feelings it left me with were of cosmic wonder. Innovative and fun, top marks for this, you guys!
Could not quite get into the game. Controlling the character felt slow, and it felt really frustrating to die because I had to walk back again. I like the looks of the game however.
Sweet graphics, the inverse kinematics were awesome (could maybe use some limits), and the graphics are so cute. Way to go, Farfin!
Hi leafo. Checked back on your game after you left us a comment. I like the game! I feel like you should add a way to prevent the walls collapsing on you, and have the walls collapse faster. Like, maybe, if you didn't kill anything in 10 seconds you'll lose. Not sure. It might break the more relaxing feel you have currently. Anyway, I'll root for you in the comp!
Lovely intro, reminds me of Francis Bacon a bit.
Very cool mood! It felt a little like Ultima underworld for some reason. Very claustrophobic. The controls were excellent for me. Good job!
very very cool! Pang and asteroids, and the astronaut is full of charm :)
I dieeed. Very good effort, and good job replicating mario galaxy, that must have been hard! Top marks for fun and theme
This is beautiful!!!!!!! And the music is very cool, good job on writing it first. Also, thank you for the postmortem!
Haha! The graphics and humor are lovely! Kudos!
Very very sweet game! Top marks for mood, graphics, audio and humour. The theme is totally spot on too
This was good fun! Thank you for this
Very, very fun, top marks for that. I think the graphics are very cute as well!
top marks (and loved the Verbose Edition). Music was awesome, mood was awesome, it's fun, it fits the theme, what else is there to say!
I love how getting more germs is both armor *and* weaponry! You should totally expand this concept into something!
Fantastic graphics, Top marks!
Fantastic execution! The graphics are cute and awesome, and the theme was spot-on :) Top marks
Would have loved for it to be playable! Top marks for mood!
This was fun :)) Has lots of potential
We made a shump too. Great game!
Very very cute. I loved the Alice theme. Background scrolling was a little weird, and it could have used some parallax, but it's a jam game, I know you didn't have time. This grow/shrink mechanic, if polished a little bit, could make for an awesome platformer. It did remind me of American McGee's Alice2, but the puzzles weren't nearly as dependent on careful selection of powerups. Oh, some respawning enemies might help. Top marks anyway :)
The graphics were absolutely amazing! Mood gets top marks as well!
Very very fun! The music is awesome, and the iterative level design plays great.
it was cute, it could have used a metroid-like shooting ability, it's a little tiresome that you only have a fixed diagonal angle of shooting. For 10 hours, this is very very good. Are you going to finish it?
I echo the trouble others had with maneuvering, but it was a matter of time before I got it. Lovely mood as wel!
Fantastic art, you guys! Thanks for this!
Audio, Graphics, Theme and Mood get top marks! Seriously awesome art game
I finished it in one go, very entertaining! I actually like the graphics. Remind me the first time I saw an Apple II at my best friend's house when I was like 10. I was sure you were a mac user ^-^
Very very fun, and the forgiving checkpoints were very very cool
This was fun, and well-presented. good job
Aww adorable, and top marks for graphics!
aww the graphics are super cute! I also loved the jump-evade.
Perhaps it needs some more purpose. And also maybe some way to stop the constant jumping, because then you can be out of danger all the time.
It was AWESOME. I liked it better than Nostrils of Flesh & clay.
"she holds you tighter than the world's hurting you" is the awesomest phrase ever.
Thank you :`) I identified completely and perfectly.
I hadn't heard Patton's version of the song, I swear that guy can make 60ies songs even more haunting. Pink Cigarette pales compared to this. And after the game, omg did I freak with the connotations.
I loved the methodical way you genderfucked both characters.
As a queer and a game developer, full marks where applicable !!!
Also:The meat that thing kept eating. Damn.
edit:
As a queer and a game developer, I AWARD THEE full marks where applicable !!!
brilliant! Thank you for making this :)
Sweet game. I liked the old-school difficulty actually. Graphics great, music beautiful (could use looping, but no matter). Great job!
very very fun! I especially like the point where you shoot huge bullets :)
really beautiful!! I hope you do a post compo version as well!
The physics of the fox (?) being thrust upwards by the moving rocks is really really awesome.
I need something cool to collect, and this will be awesome!
Also, maybe a metroidvania mechanic where you can return to collect secrets at a later stage, with your advanced combos.
Kudos!
You don't need me to tell you how awesome the art is!!!!
The gameplay might need some drawbacks or synergies between the three kinds of towers. As in, no income for the shops unless you've built living quarters, or some penalty for building too many cannons too early.
Or maybe even being able to combine two things in one slot, like multi-classing. A cannon+market = cannon that can also generate income. More possibilities for strategy may discourage making the second storey a MAX cannon.
Also, possibly, being able to build in both directions (above ground and underground).
These are my design thoughts.
Very very fun game!
I liked it. Found it a bit sexist and male-oriented though
oh, but full marks on graphics
@deepnight No worries. I remember Double Dragon and streets of rage too ^_^
Fantastic graphics and atmosphere. The concept was nice and lemming-like. I got completely stuck at the jumping puzzle, not even the puzzle, I couldn't coordinate the jump at all. So I quit there, after 10 tries, I'm sorry. A post-compo version would be awesome!
smooth controls, and funny!!
Absolutely fantastic presentation.
I would have loved some more short term goals to keep me entertained..
Full marks on every count!
very very pretty! top marks
Dude, this is AWESOME!!!!!!!! The mood is so mass effect-y and also: The Dig. I was hoping someone would do some alien horror
I was a bit stumped at the end, didn't expect the hexagon to be where it was.
Good job and full marks
Aaah now I get it! You made "Only dust" last LD!
Fantastic :)
Ooh top marks for fun, this was beautiful and simple :)
very cool, but a little frustrating. It could use more checkpoints to ease on the difficulty
Incroyable! A dungeon keeper clone in 3 days! I miss that game...
I'd like to be able to sell rooms, but that's just me.
Fantastic work guys!
This was lovely!!! My only gripe is horizontal collision, it feels very wrong to be stopped in mid air, just because you're pressing against a wall. Very very impressive level editor
Damn cool!!! Full marks, all over the place!
Very cute!! My only note is that, for me, it would need a second mode, with a goal. But that's only because Endurance mode isn't my cup of cake, as a gamer.
Lovely lovely work! Top marks
this is lovely! Please take it further!!!
simple and awesome. Great pixels!
very cool, VERY fun. It can be a gread game
Awesome, as expected. You rock :)
This is awesome! So so cute. Good job!!
very cool endless fighter. Fantastic graphics too
So awesome! Playing as a Scooby Doo villain! Their morale dropping by the second inside my scary mansion, bwahaha!
This is brilliant!
very cool concept and very evil! I think the movement needs a little deceleration, because it feels too slippery to be very fun. But I can see it being *very* fun! Top marks for innovation and theme
so cute!!!
I went at it till I beat the hero. Fantastic game, fantastic concept, marvellous execution! I've often thought of a reverse vertical scroller, but never had a good idea of how to implement being the bad guy. You solved it brilliantly.
I have no problem with the 60 second limit, the game is beatable.
Also, the 3-way bullet-spewing spaceship seems to be the player's best chance. They make a wide net of bullet fire, which the ship's AI (very clever by the way!) inescapably falls prey to. Having a mothership behind those doesn't hurt either. I found no use for the smaller drones, or the rocket-launching ships, since the AI would kill them instantly. Brilliant!
Very very immersive and very cool. Fantastic style, fantastic ambience, sound effects, everything is awesome.
My only gripe is that once again, the one girl in the whole game dies horribly, twice. :( How can i relate to that?
This is so amazing visually! ZX was the oldest computer I ever played games on, and this is so true to form!
You even get a huge amount of lives, because it's so hard. I made it to Bathory Corridor, but then got frustrated with the arrows, because as a wolf I have a huge hitbox. But I will finish it, nothing wrong with a little old-school difficulty.
Maybe make the falling door explode and disappear after a while. Because that will tell the player that you have to use the door as an attack, not as an unpassable wall (that was my impression in the beginning and I kept losing)
This is my highest rated entry so far (5 stars everywhere). Fantastic!
Congrats!
In my list of queued games, I finally reached yours! This is a little gem! And you say it's hastily put together? Bah! It's awesome! Thank you for this
OMG and I just realized you made the circular fighter with the fantastic graphics last year. Kudos!!
The music was awesome! Also, I think you're onto something with the larger-than-life background assets. It looks very fairy tale.
Top marks for music and mood
Suese I promise you it gets better. You need to coordinate yourself. Note, vertical jumping empties the jump-o-meter earlier. And there's other gameplay tricks as well. Thank you for the kind words :)
Oh yeah, the disk is there as a checkpoint. It's where you respawn when you die, that's why it's not collectible. I should make it more clear in the post-compo version
Suese: collect 15 coins and go see the crab to the right. Then, press shift when you're in front of the powerup that costs 15 points.
wow, thanks so much illugion!!! That's the nicest comment ever!
Soggyclog thank you. Yeah, a huge bug which I still haven't fixed. I had 7 fish, but they never spawn right, so I took them out. I'm not a programmer. When/if I fix this I will make a post-compo version, hopefully with more plot as well.
Also, you can also kill a pot, and the secret you find at the bottom left. Not that it does anything significant
Thank you ConflictiveLabs. Think like an octopus and you'll be fine
BrothersT thank you. It's only limiting because this is going to be metroidvania, and you're not supposed to be flying from the start. You get powerups, you can revisit old places. I know it's not apparent yet, so I accept your judgement of "limiting"
By the way, when played right, this control scheme can be extremely graceful. You get to feel very strong and flowing after a few powerups
Thank you Gungnir! Coming from you, it means a lot. I'm definitely hearing what you're saying about vertical movement. Everyone is finding it painful. I totally will change it.
Zemmumbler: thank you, and you're so right, it should and will be the default. I need to portray Trina in a powerless state for a while (she's just getting used to these waters) but I think I'll just give her the powerup for free after a few steps.
Will Edwards: thank you ^-^ Aww :) Well cute doesn't mean not evil. I'll flesh out her character and maybe I can get you to see it :)
chambers: thank you. I did consider using the mouse yes. The best I could do with a mouse, however, is a game like Aquaria. I enjoy aquaria very much, but it's not the game I want to make. I want to get the player to experience the octopus movement. This way you can control the x,y vectors with extreme precision, and can even change direction in mid-jump if you release the cursor keys sequentially.
caranha: thank you so much. Regarding moving, I'm very torn. Most people think the octopus is underpowered. Some, including me and now you, think it's fine if you know when to release. What do I do? Do I trust most people, or do I trust the people who actually play it enough to get used to it, like you did?
The last enemy wasn't really an enemy, just an ANSI drawing of trina with the words "but Trina will be back". You have to sit still near it, in order to read it. It's cool that you destroyed it!
I'm so glad you'd play more, because this is going to be metroidvania, so expect more :) Thank you for the kind comment
Thank you all!
Dark Acre Jack: you're absolutely right. I'll get on it! Also, I know, she isn't very villainous without the extra animated expressions. Those are coming soon :)
Eniko: thanks for noticing! Yes, I have an upper threshold to how much power Trina can expend in one jump. This way, when you have a lot of power, you can still jump a standard way off, and have lots more power to make a second jump. I don't know if it will work in the post-compo updated controls. Also, I'll definitely fix the camera.
Pierrec: noted, and will try to balance it more! Thank you!
GeorgeBroussard: Thank you, I will keep it in mind when I update the controls. However, an 8-year old niece got used to them at once, and loves it. It's hard to keep everyone happy..
matthias_zarzecki: Hahaha :) Yes, it's a checkpoint, it starts off activated, so its only use is that you respawn if you die (from the fish). The crab is indeed selling powerups. The octopus needs the powerups, therefore it needs to collect money. See? It's all very simple, capitalism in its purest form...
Xavier: Thank you! I promise to improve. Do you have any suggestions? What would you like?
pereubu: thank you! What kind of controls would you like?
Pitoum: thank you very much. I will try my best
Jeremias: you're absolutely right, and I intend to. Obviously I want her to do more than move, but both owlboy and cave story, two of my all-time favorites, do build the whole game around the movement.
Mesene: viva la libertad! Ah Kumiho! It's our favorite game, Fedor and mine. Fedor made this ( http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-25/?action=preview&uid=19592 ) in this LD, so you may want to leave him a comment. I remember he wanted us to make our assets open-source, so he will certainly tell you about the code. If I remember correctly, he found the scrolling code somewhere, but he coded the enemy patterns himself!
Valeroth: you're so sweet. I will definitely try to polish the controls more, and certainly add more juice to her.
Juaxix: I wrote the code to crossfade audio (with a lerp function) and then stupidly tied it to a "when enemy is on screen" which produces an instant fade in of the battle music, because time was running out. The original condition was tied to distance between enemy and player, but I had to disable it for debugging purposes... Thank you very much!
ethankennerly: thank you so much. I will try to make it a relatively open-world action-rpg
blob: I did try. It plays like aquaria. I don't want a game like aquaria, i want a game like cave story and owlboy. Glad you like! I will post-jam this, but movement is kind of a big deal, I can't move forward with my controls if people don't want to play it unless it's mouse driven.
very very cool
What a fantastic game :) Loved the poster ^-^ Definitely worth the download. I second a "fast forward" button, like in lemmings
Best game I've played so far. And I always start out like "is this going to be gripping? It's only text after all" and then I'm like 20 minutes later, hoping there was more. I never learn
oh wow! This is fantastic! The presentation is great, the gameplay is very fun. And those cannons have eyes!! The special move is very satisfying as well!
Kudos!
lovely lovely pixel graphics! Way to go!
haha why do I laugh so much with the bouncing dog?
Fun!
graphics and presentation get top marks!!!! Fantastic work you guys! I also love that there's also female peasants in the crowd. Thanks for remembering.
Very cute and arcade-like
Fantastic!!! My two design notes that might make it more fun, judging purely from the gameplay video:
1. the CPU is easily fooled; it seems that all you need to do is feed it with the S tetrimino, and it just doesn't know what to do with it, when there are obvious places to put it that could help later. Of course the AI might be thinking ahead based on some algorithm, thinking "there's a good possibility that an "I" tetrimino piece will come and fix everything in a while, so let's not bother with the S". But then, an I tetrimino came along at 2.23 and the CPU placed it horizontally!, when it could have filled a huge i-shaped vertical hole. Maybe that's just random though
2. the AI could be made to panic. Do you know the moment you're certain you've lost, when you make desperate choices? the AI could do that, place pieces a little randomly at the end, and drop them fast, in hopes of having more time to anticipate your next move.
But this is a little gem of a game, and I love all the attention went into it. Full marks for Overall, Innovation, Fun and Theme! Being the tetris level is being the ultimate bad guy
lovely atmosphere!! the half-hidden person crept me out!
Very very fun!!! Lovely gameplay, lovely graphics, lovely mood. Top marks!!
IIIIIIIIIII knew it. I knew there had to be a Stones reference in this one! This is awesome! I really felt I made an impact on this world. Design note: I got bounced off by a heart and got trapped deep below the earth, on level 3, but it didn't spoil my fun at all. Loved the humour, loved the gameplay, this one is getting full marks!
very cool!
Very good idea! Tom marks for innovation
lovely!!! I can't get enough of it
lovely!!! I can't get enough of it, very addictive. Top marks for graphics and humor
lovely micromanaging game!!! Simple is better! Top marks on fun and humor too (the comments and tasks are hilarious!)
very very fun, funny and innovastive. Top marks
Aww so cute! Lovely first entry!
Fantastic! Please please develop it more! I have a huge itch after I finished From Dust for the 4th time... :)
very cute! Kudos!
A game about wrong enviromentalism :) Awesome!!!!
Lovely work you guys!!! I lol'd at the ripped beavers
haha this is fun!! kudos horrorpen!
Very very cool! Lovely cute graphic. I'd like a more grid-like explosion, so I know where not to stand.
And a more intuitive control scheme. I get it having to press a key to build a ladder, but why not just dig to the right, like digDug or boulder dash?
Full marks, this is awesome
Addictive! Good job
awwwww! top marks for theme, graphics, humor and mood, despite your time handicap! Wow this can be really fun, are you taking it further?
short but very very cute! It is indeed like Dizzy, awesome!
great lighting!!!
Kudos, Geraud et Antoine!
very very pretty! Crosshatching shadows is genius! I hope you had fun
seriously fun
Hahaha awesome! Mother nature is getting ideas as we speak! :)
so much fun! The sprites are also adorable!
excellent production, right down to the fantastic restart menu! And I really felt the evilness. Kudos to no end!
You know the drill: not enough gameplay. It could be made into an artistic statement though, because the superb graphics and mood are very very compelling. It needs some more psychological elements. You could play with the prisoner pleading for his life, or that devil goat, why couldn't s/he be pressuring you to do it?
Cool idea though! Full marks for theme and mood
Fantastic graphics! Lovely lovely mood. And robbing a man blind, using a Bosch-inspired henchman, wow! Kudos to no end
adorable microbes!
Fantastic game! Also, the plot! Also you have license to kill, AND cannibalize town property for good. Graphics ara amazing, hexe's hair is a perfect hemicircle, which is sorely missed from most pixel art. In short; I think you guys know very very well what you're doing. Full marks, and my hat off to you
Fantastic assets, music, graphics. A little repetitive but very humorous! Way to go
Love it! Love the style, the music, the idea, the theme and the world of goo blob style! Made me feel spider-like. And the right kind of emotions were triggered, because at the sight of the holmes head, I felt very antagonistic.
Needs mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
A little hard to lose, I feel, but maybe it's because you didn't have time to iterate
Also, what is the logic under which some assets wither and die, even if well connected?
Kudos all around guys!
Why is this so addictive!! It reminds me of Scarab of Ra for the Mac, for some reason.
The mood, music AND graphics are superb. Seriously inspired idea, making it look like greek red-figure pottery
Congrats can't wait to play the final version
Athens Greece haha. Nice touch! I destroyed my town, and got 6000 points for it!
So fun! The puzzles are awesome. I hated the sound, especially on headphones, but the game was brilliant! Full marks!
absolutely fantastic. this gets full marks from me, in everything apart from audio.
It has this Ice King (from Adventure Time) feel to it
cuteness overload!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I do feel evil hurting the little guys! :)) Great physics too!
Very fun! And the graphics are cool
Well, it was such a pleasure being in the game world, that I didn't mind the controls. Absolutely fantastic effort! I felt like in half-life 1 again. Are you expanding this?
Hi 7soul, I remember you from LD23!!!! Lovely lovely game, it's a real class act. The one thing that would improve it is to show the hero actually going through all the hardships you're putting him through.
Awesome, very professional, and I lol'd at the intro messages!
Top marks for innovation, fun, them, graphics, humor and mood!
PS the font is fantastic, bitmap font or webfont?
PS2 what an awesome award, thank you!
Fantastic!!!!!
challenging and fun! Random monster colors was such a nice touch, I loved that!
Top marks form mood, theme and fun!
Lovely! Reminds me of psychonauts visually, for some reason. It's full of style, and the idea is so meta! Congrats, ratking!
SO cute! Very very cool, very solid game. Loved the impressive summoning animation at the end ;) It doesn't get more on-theme than this
I am victorious! I've driven all the hope from people's hearts!!!!! MWAHAHAHA.
SWEET game! The retro graphics are super cool
This was fantastic. Imagine how long it would have taken one person in 1980 to make one game... And we can now make 3 in 2 days, it's like throwing it in their faces! I've seen the reverse pacman implemented again in this LD, but I think I prefer your version of cycling through the ghosts. Top marks!
lovely audio, fun gameplay! Top marks
Cool and old school! Reminded me of Robocop and Rampage
It felt very much like a gameshow! "Browser" is an inspired host!
Slight annoyance: The game told me "you get nothing, Sir". If I was a military woman that would be fine, but otherwise I'm not a Sir :)
Really original, really inventive, really fun, top marks for humor!
also the monty python reference ^-^
this is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you for this. It's a puppy simulator! The graphics and animations are superb
Haha! Groats.
Lovely game, full marks
Haha this is very cool :)
oh this is fun!
Sweet! I would love to feel the attack be stronger. Like, I don't know, inflict more hit points, or have an attack that swings both ways. As it is, it rather looks like the poor devil (see what I did there?) is struggling a bit.
Otherwise very cool! Amazing you did all this so fast!
maybe the best graphics in this compo! Way cool
hahaha still laughing! Way to go oldtopman!
Cool! A complete tower defense engine. The background painting is very cool, but makes the game area hard to understand. Maybe use very bold outlines around the rooms and buttons?
Quite fun!
Gracias!!! (I'm a greek game dev, I feel you!)
fantastic mood, it made me go to a dark place. Audio, graphics, mood get full marks. Gameplay was also fun
lovely and very cool! Presentation is amazing as well!
Fantastic idea, completely on-theme. These are the first bad guys in gaming history, and it's so nice to play as them! Beautiful presentation, fun gameplay, lovely! I'm not as good yet, that pacman's AI strikes me as stupid.
Would like to see a button (space?) that overrides 1-4 and selects nearest ghost, like in old soccer games. Might be fun. All in all, excellent entry!
She spots me when I'm far away :/ But very very original and awesome! I felt evil
awww, very cute! I also liked the depressing music!
I wish there were more innovation marks I could give. This was *awesome*. I feel like a kid. If you need graphics and incidental music for this one, count me in please. And please, please do develop for iOS as well if at all possible.
Fangirl love all over the place
Awesome! Way to go Suese! The visual style is 100% nostalgia, lovely lovely.
a tiny bit more visual differentiation of the houses would hit the spot! Kudos
This is SO fun! I too have to comment, it really makes you feel like an invader. The epicness of it!
Congrats! Top marks from me
Awesome! Presentation is fantastic, way to go!!! Top marks on everything
Also: I love it that there were female heroes in the game, most people forget about that. Thanks!!!
awesome!!! :) thanks for this little gem
Hahaha very cool!
HA! Urf was doomed the first time I played. My ship was so out of balance, I couldn't even kill one enemy.
But I get better and better. The soundtrack was so awesome. Country metal shredding after some jazzy muzak! Ha!
Top marks for fun!!
Top marks for fun!!
If you develop it without the timer, it could be more forgiving
Damn! The graphics are SO amazing. Sprite designs, especially the enemies, are incredible.
5/5 for fun, theme, music and graphics. This ought to win!
Amazing visuals, top marks for mood, fun and gameplay!
You rock
Stellar graphics, lots of humor, top marks on everything!!! Thank you for making this
Pretty fun! kudos!!
Nice 3D and top marks for humor!
Omg wow! Just wow. Top marks on everything, the game mechanic you derived from the theme is so creative, it hurts my head :) Postcompo version very cool as well.
Seriously, top marks and thank you!
FANTASTIC use of the FLstudio speech, I am impressed!
This is an AWESOME game.
5/5 for audio, theme, graphics, innovation and mood. This is amazing, kudos Discofish!
very nice level progression. I like the 10-second levels!
Absolutely beautiful!!!
It got a little sluggish after the 3rd level, but it's fun and looks amazing!! Top marks!
Wow thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions
@nhmllr
thank you! Fixed the control descriptions, should be ok now
@Verrazano
Thank you, I blocked the trolls from going over the finishing line, and it is much clearer now!
@jay griffin
You're the sweetest, thank you!
@theholychicken
Thank you, I'll try not to disappoint!
@bytegroveYes, definitely Lost Vikings, with a dose of Lemmings and Doublefine's The Cave. I was going for lemmings/adventures of Lomax with the mood, but hopefully in an original way
@rezoner
thank you! If you press "ctrl" you can skip the cutscene
@Steve
Very good suggestion! I thought I'd make people learn the selection system first, but you're right, it's confusing
@Moosefly says ...
All hail the queen!
@wine says ...
Thank you!
@DreamTeam says ...
Thank you, I will.
And yes you're absolutely right about the troll selection, thank you! I will work that into the finished game
@Tifu
give it time <3 Thank you
@zatyka
Agreed, and will do! Thank you
@dancingflame
Awesome pixel arts and the background scrolling looks quite good. The animation is smooth and epic too! I love your idea and puzzle, it surely has some potential. Nicely done! BTW your gameplay is somewhat similar to ours, in good way :)
@rincewind_cz
Nice pixelart :-)
@Typedeaf
I made the finish line uncrossable by worker trolls, this should make it easier. Thank you so much for playtesting it
@Vasileiadis
Ευχαριστώ. We'll see!
@AdventureIslands
I changed the control descriptions! Thank you and I apologize for the confusion
@deepnight
I made the finish line uncrossable by worker trolls, this should make it easier. Thank you for the tip!
@spliter
Thank you! I didn't want the trolls to turn into boring old stone statues, as in the actual myths :)
@rylgh
You're so right to point this out. The queen, if I had time to make the sprite, was going to be under a huge tent, designed to keep her safe, while the other trolls bust their asses for her.
@cafeine
Thank you! Please do!
@Sakuyan
Wow, that's so sweet of you, thanks!
@Atmospherium
I will! Thank you!
@savethejets1
Aww, thank you! You know, it helped that the graphics are old-school. That way the title screen was just a copy/paste of game graphics.
@Optimus6128
You're right about that, thanks for the bug report. It's a problem with Construct 2, but now that I know about it, I will make the jump impossible unless there's a stone where it should be.
@GrooveMan
I took your advice, and made the finish line impassable to worker trolls. It makes a world of difference, thank you!
@KhaoTom
All hail the queen!
@Colapsydo
All hail the queen!
@bitserum
All hail the queen!
@UnorthodoxGames
Thank you, I promise you will. All hail the queen
@Linus Lindberg
I will! Thank you!
@Capro
You're right. And I will, thank you!
@withoutpillow
Yes it was! Well, they're Trolls, so they're Scandinavian. But I want only the queen to insist on talking in the Old Tongue, to make her more snobbish
@Zccc
Noted, thank you so much! It's a Construct 2 bug, but I will fix it by making the jump impossible until you've placed a step in the right place.
@klianc09
All hail the queen. Thank you! I... decided to leave it out, and show it to you along with the other 8.5
@Diptoman
Thank you! Well... I lost a lot of time designing 10 levels, because I thought I could finish them. If I had designed just 5 puzzles, I might have managed to get it in. Live and learn!!
@soybean thank you! Photoshop CS5. I'll make a making-of soon
@FunbyJohn thank you, that's quite the compliment!
@Waynetron I had no idea, thanks for the heads up! I will implement a better way in the post-compo version, thank you and apologies
@ananasblau: I have no problem with fuzziness. It's actually a Construct 2 limitation, you can't precisely control the jump height, at such small resolutions especially at lower framerates. But my solution is to make the queen jump higher, and then create an invisible tall obstacle so she can't clear it, unless the stone is correctly placed.
Thank you for the tips
@Static 64 what are your system specs? Did you run on Firefox or Chrome? Explorer doesn't support HTML5
@X-0r I used Korg Legacy M1, a great VST
Thank you everyone
Very fun, the fire is awesome. I'm glad you're into graphics now!!!
very artsy and beautiful. top marks for mood as well
Awesome audio, you are right to be proud!
haha crazy fun, fantastic "thick" objects, very charming, very energetic game!
Top marks!!
Amazing! High-concept, very well presented, and frankly very fun and replayable! I can learn a thing or two!
Top marks
Top marks for Graphics and mood, this was awesome!
what AMAZING graphics!
And it does remind me of Jazz Jackrabbit as well, plus other old-school platformers!
Top marks for this, thanks for making it!
Amazing artwork, bravo you two!@!
Awesome job! A bit like cargo-commander. You rock! Had loads of fun.
very fun and amazing graphics, so cute!!
hahaha! Nice John Williams reference on the siren there!!!
This is just as hardcore as I like my games! ZX spectrum kind of hardcore!
Lovely graphics and skill tree!
Really impressive and creepy! Thank you For this!
Graphics and mood 5/5
Very very beautiful. Seconds used to measure distance, that's a good take on the theme!
The graphics are *adorable*, they really shine.
Music rocks as well.
And the demon wolf is so scary.
Kudos!
very very innovative, and spectacular visuals!
I would like the game to restart just by pressing "E", not take you to the main menu.
That way it would be easier to experiment with the controls. I think I mastered the controls in the end. Very ambitious, good job!
Omg this is super creepy! Thanks for making it!
Top points for mood and audio!
Very fun! Awesome music, fantastic pixelart, very good animation. Top marks for this!
Very contemplative, congratulations!!!
Lovely, my french friends
OMG hahahahaa I'm still laughing at the potatoes planting themselves. Ok, this is SUCH fun, top marks!!! Very retro and very contemporary at the same time. Thanks for making it!
Speechless :)
This gets all my stars, top marks for everything! Thanks for making this!
Awesome AWESOME scene, I forgot it was 2D for a little while! Wow!
And the CGA dinosaur, AMAZING! Top marks all around! You rock as hard as Mr Hendrix does
This is Nitrome-level of cool!
Fantastic, thanks for making this!!!
Audio and graphics are incredible for 3 days! Also pretty fun, and fast-paced
Fantastic idea, fantastic execution, top marks for fun! Jumping is a *tiny* bit unresponsive, and I died a few times on level 2 just before the checkpoint.
But an amazing entry nonetheless, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best in this LD!
I'm humbled by the level design and puzzles, this was AWESOME!!!!!!
The mechanic was super-interesting, a fantastic take on the theme, and mood/graphics are incredible.
Top marks for everything and I hope you place at the top!
Also, thank you SO much for the All hail the queen trophy, it made my day, and I choked myself laughing when I saw it!
Very very polished, the graphics are so cute. Kudos, you guys!!!
Also, very good use of the theme!
A little fiddly in the beginning, but I got the hang of it. Nice one, megashroom!
great music, I struggled with gameplay a bit, but I got the hang of it!
By the way the vst I used for Legend of Troll is the Korg M1 http://www.korg.com/Legacym1 a super-useful workstation, based on the actual Korg M1. It's at $50 and an amazing buy, especially if you're trying to recreate amiga music, since most .mod and .XM samples are from the super-popular at the time Korg M1.
Bwahaha I leave my enemies bleeding in agony while I jump around towards my next victim. They never had a chance. And then I've disappeared!
Very very cool ,theholychicken!!! What's your kill count?
Oh wow. Random weapon is so awesome, it feels so powerful (sometimes). Really solid entry. Random gameplay is awesome (if a little unbalanced). Very fun!
Haha! Amazing! Very meatboy-ish, and very retro. If I had a game like that on my ZX spectrum back in the day, I would be in heaven!!
Raiyumi you rock! 5 stars for fun and mood!
Incredible stylized graphics, very r-type and very cool. The charge mechanic: awesome!
I second TobiasW's additions, they sound like they'd make the game twice as fun! Good job!
Very very fun, 5/5! Thanks for this
Very nice on-rails brawler. Would like things to do between attacks, but cool gameplay idea
VERY innovative (I know it's like that other game where you scavenge for spaceship parts, and like Flow, but still!)
and great fun!
Top marks
It is quite fun!! I only wish there was a button to speed up time, instead of waiting.
Character design is *very* interesting. Good job! I liked stage 2-4 the best
5/5 for innovation, fun, theme and graphics! This is a fantastic entry! Kudos!!!
what a gorgeous little sprite! Fantastic work. The attacks were powerful and had a good radius. A great first LD entry! Did you have fun?
fantastic graphics! I struggled with the controls of the jetpack at first, but I got used to it quickly. 5/5 mood and fun!
Are these people randomly generated??
This is such an awesome gem of a game!
Top marks all around.
++++extra marks for including women, I'm so tired of games revolving around only guys.
Thanks for this!
Hey this is awesome! It reminds me of little big planet for some reason. top marks for theme and mood!
Fantastic work you two!!!
Wow top marks for mood!
Solid gameplay, I haven't seen many tower defense games this LD, thanks for the challenge
Hahaha! Awesome phasing mechanic. Beautiful graphics (and the ink effect, although a little slow), and cool puzzle stages! Top marks
Cool job guys. It needed juuuust a little larger attack radius, but the zelda-style dungeon is well done!
hey this was fun! It was a little harsh that it took you down to level 1 when you die. Maybe if it takes you down one level it would be more fair. But good job!@
character switching was very cool!
oh this is lovely!! Thanks for making it! Very moody as well!
AMAZING! Such a philosophical/art project
fantastic graphic design you guys!!
Top marks for graphics! Also very fun, thank you for this!
Why are you sad?? This is the awesomest tech demo ever. There's something about the idea of owning your own deathstar that's very compelling.
Also I've always loved games where you control a planet and can rotate around it.
It's even kind of fun as it is!
Top marks for graphics and mood as well, and I hope you develop this further (please)
Hahaha I love the demotivation at the end. Loser, shit. It really made me want to have another go :)
Fantastic graphics, I think you already know it.
Good brawler, very fun. Tak!
Oh yes, so much fun!
Super bonus points for the graphics!
Is that punk-o-matic? Real cool!
Very fun game, I enjoy the irony of killing eyeballs with their own projectiles. But then my cockiness gets me, as I run into a projectile from another eyeball, that I wasn't tracking.
I love minimalist games, when done right like this one, they allow you to get seriously in the role!
Very nice job, and keyboard worked best for me, but if I'd played it on my C64 in the old days, I would kick its ass using a joystick. Thanks for making this!
Fat humour aside (I find it hurtful, since there's nothing wrong with being fat), this was very fun! 5stars
Very very fun!
I got lost in the beginning, mainly due to the UI, but this is fantastic!
Top marks for fun
Ahaha I had a surprising amount of fun playing this!
I still can't leave it down.
Wow. 5/5 for fun!
Soooooooo cute. I want an extreme closeup of its colon and appendix, it will still be cute. Top marks for theme and fun
Omg so AWESOME. NES+oldschool difficulty and a mel gibson wannabe. This was fantastic! Top marks, seriously!
VERY fun game!
I would only change the gameOver screen, it's pretty, but you die a lot and it's boring to see over and over, I think.
Top marks for graphics and humor too! Bravo guys
Ha! Please finish this! I'd totally play it with some fantasy illustrations and an easier control scheme!
haha amazing fun! I'm hooked.
The 10 second theme doesn't really affect gameplay, but the mechanic is awesome, so I'm giving it top marks for theme as well! The music was bee-like and awesome, on top of everything.
fantastic platformer, top marks for mood, theme, graphics and fun <3
Music awesome, graphics ADORABLE, so much work has gone into this! Amazing you guys, +++++ votes!
and bonus points for making an upgrade system. just WOW
Ha! Wow this is so well-written!
The characters are detailed (nice illustrations btw!) and the whole thing was just a lot of fun!
Bonus points for having 2 girls as well as 2 boys.
great graphics and theme!
I hate starting at the bathroom.
This is awesome!
Very very fun! Thank you so much for making this!!!
haha top marksfor the theme!
Fantastic game! Loads of polish, and juicy visual feedback.
+5 on the sound design as well!
Gameplay is like the ancient game Dalek Attack (I was 6 back then) so bonus points for nostalgia
very fun, love the use of the theme.
Very polished as well!
Oh god, what wouldn't I give to have one of these dragons during LoTR games! Haha! Cool concept, when do we see more?
beautiful graphics and I quite liked the story unfolding!
This is awesome! Like "Pang" in a way, but very unique. Loved the indirect control scheme, this is awesome and gets top marks from me! (The little animation of the mouse blowing is so well-done! )
Haha! This is very fun! I started empathizing with the kid, and caught myself thinking that Mom is an asshole for hogging the kitchen to herself, blocking my cookies. And then I saw she was making more and I was oh cool!!! And I went into the living room to hide because I panicked, and then I was like "awww she's bringing me a cookie" and the selfish woman just wanted to eat in in front of the couch! This is my "a life in the day" for this game <3 Top marks for fun!
So amazingly beautiful! If this was released in 1980 or something, the newspapers would be talking about it. Real war in space! Our teenagers are wasting their youth, etc. This is awesome by 2013 standards too
Ahahahaha! "The future of Christendom"! This is *awesome*! Top marks all around and Robert's art is amazing!
@scoopsy: thank you, I'm fixing the dialogs as we speak
@Lyje : you're right, I ran out of time
@BrothersT : haha thank you! Yes I'm remaking the engine as we speak, and then I'll start adding to it
@Dremelofdeath : you're quite right. Will work on those!
@Venks : Aww thank you so much! I'm doing it at the moment. What would you like to see more of? Exploration (digging), survival? What aspects of Populous2 and From Dust would you like to see?
insane66 : Thank you! Yeah she does that, it's because I wasn't smart enough and let her have collisions enabled while dragging. I found a fix for that.
McDonaldsWizard : Thank you so much, and you're absolutely right about the tutorial
Enneract: Got it! Thank you!
Carduus: thank you!
Ludipe : thank you, let's hope so
Nelien : Aww thank you, I will do my best!
KunoNoOni: such a nice comment! I will work on it!
kewry: will do!
Javifugitivo: thank you!
AtomicVikings: I get it, you're right.
Diptoman: right on! Thank you!
JohnnySix: thank you! I'll do my best, promise
howieV: thanks so much!
Kyatric: thank you!! I didn't know you did LDs! I'll go check your stuff right now! Agreed, this is a proof of concept, I hope to make it something more soon
@AMSmirnov understood!
@lotusgame : Yes I did. Thank you!
Thanks people! <3
@taocayo: Thanks for the kind words. The earthquake was just an incentive for having a well-built home that won't be destroyed, but I didn't have time to fix it.
Yes I wrote my lava engine from scratch in Scirra Construct 2 . You can check out the source here: http://www.scirra.com/forum/topic83305.html
It's basically made with metaballs
@ratboy2713 thank you for the bug report, will see how I can fix those
archeometrician: It is needed! It's going to make this so much cooler <3
Omg my first full star for this LD. Yep, I'm giving it 5 stars everywhere, for real. The screenshot really doesn't do it justice, this is awesome. Even better than Wario, it's geeky and nerdy and full of references and I love it <3
I'm doing well! 8 meters. Awesome use of the theme, and top marks for fun and graphics! <3
Rated 5/5 on everything because I'm impressed! This is polished and very fun, and it gave me a cheeky impression, like Katamari Damacy. Thumbs up for coming up with something cool that totally respects the theme! This is awesome and I'm glad I found it
Amazing! Had lots of fun in an OdinSphere kind of way! Top marks!
haha this is SO artistic! Well-done!!! Must have taken you ages to make it!
very fun and challenging <3
Hey, Ludipe! A Fellow C2 user, I know you from the forums of course!
Thanks so much for letting us see your source <3
Top marks for this, I had such fun! The sidekick sprites are SO impressive in their tiny detail!
Absolutely incredible <3 Rated highly and such great graphics! Incredible for 48h!
Lovely!!! It would be so cool to have a pipemania-type deadline. People running through the ship, like in FTL, or comets raining down on it. A few missions would make all the difference in the world! Rating this very high <3
Thank you SO much for no violence and no sexism. You're the first LD to specifically mention no sexism, which is awesome. This is quirky and fun!!
I second the request for faster walk speed, but the graphics and feel are amazing <3
So very very well designed! I loved the different powers, loved the different character designs, and had a lot of fun, and some adrenaline when I was being chased. I know I'm asking for a lot, but could the enemies have a way to detect you even when you're no longer in their Line Of Sight? For example, a guard was following me, and I turned a corner and then he forgot about me. This is fantastic for me, because I'm safe, but I could do with the game being a little more unforgiving :) Top marks though, this is a fantastic entry!
what amazing graphics and mood <3
Cool tag game!
Very very fun! Special kudos for game design <3
This is beautiful! Top marks for concept, fun and mood!
It's a fine joke why would we be offended? :) This is OLD school difficulty! And I'm old enough to remember Spectrum ZX games :P
I got a little stuck due to the physics engine, but this is fun! Are you developing it further?
So beautiful!!
The graphics are just amazing! Wow, so much in 3 days! Are you going to finish it?
Oh wow I love gravity games! And this one is awesome! Just one thing: on level 3, "the fastest way to the endzone may not be the best" is not true. I managed to send a particle full-blast through the big ones, just shooting straight. But this is addictive and fun, so top marks!
So super-polished until the last second! Thank you for making this. I actually like how she's slightly overpowered, she's magical after all. Top marks to everyone!
A fantastic first game my fellow Construct users <3 And the most adorable art ever!
Good work!!
what a fun game! Also, art direction is TOP notch <3
wow congrats you guys!!!
I'm laughing so hard :) Way to go Oded!!! Lots and lots of stars for this one!
This is amazing! My highest rated entry so far, kudos!!!!
The most amazing graphics. Top marks for Fun and Mood as well!
Haha! The world gets only one. May it be ME ME ME!
Awesome! Like the original Pirates and Defender of the Crown!
Double dragon-style! I laughed with the SFX! Good job on the level design as well. Would love to see "C" do a Lifebar-draining special move, as is customary in brawlers. Kudos! Could maybe do without the stereotypical sexism, but gameplay wise it's really satisfying! Thanks for being such a helpful guy over at the C2 forums
Found the secret island! This is lovely!!! Thank you for making it! Top marks
So artistic and fun! Kudos, I enjoyed myself! +1 on the art style!
Lovely art! very weird and very cool!
Solid! I love how there's a princess saving someone else, for a change.
ha! I remember you from Unhappy Holiday!
Your work is amazing. I loved this one. Underdeep = Waterdeep + Underdark ?
Top marks!
Very very fun! It's not boring at all, howieV!
what a lovely game! so atmospheric, so creepy and so engrossing! Top marks!!
Amazing game!! Keeps you alert, very good player engagement! I will come back to study the lovely graphics :)))
Top marks!
Absolutely fantastic. Juicy, cool and nothing retro about the gameplay! Graphics are just beautiful. Powerups made me feel super-awesome.
Lots of attention to level design as well, I loved how I was taught I have to dig to open the second door. An amazing entry for 48 hours, kudos!
absolutely fantastic. I'm blown away you guys! Both at the coding and the juiciness/animations. You rock!!!
amazing graphics, amazing mood, wow! I wish the platforming was a little more responsive, but that may just be me! Good job!!
Lama this is amazing!!!! Lots of love and high marks for this awesome game <3333
Great idea and fantastic pixelling <3
Top marks, love it!!!!
You're always getting better, when will this stop D:
Haha lovely job you two! Tiny nitpick, the music could be more quirky maybe, like Balrog's theme from Cave Story or maybe more Tim Burtonesque. But I know how little the time is! <3
Fantastic mood and branching storytelling. Loved this!
Hahaha lovely work! You DO always deliver <3
Everyone thank you, I just fixed the XP bug, the 3 blacktopuses should be beatable at about level 3 now.
Thanks for everyone's comments. Keep them coming!
For everyone who said it's like Windwaker, I have three words:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
you're right!
As you'll see in my timelapse video, I constantly went looking for windwaker screenshots as reference! :)
innovative and very fun! top marks for mood as well <3
Amazing and SO atmospheric. Fantastic , thank you for this!
lovely! quirky, funny! very hard at Nani for some reason...
haha top marks for fun!
The reflection mechanic is very innovative! Very interesting!
fantastic graphics <3 Impressive!
Oooh body horror :) Lovely lovely game. The mood, humor and graphics are fantastic! Kudos kbm!
haha loved the Asterix quote!
It was a bit hard to understand how to play. It seems very deep though! Impressive work for 3 days!
It's lovely! Cool mood, and the music just screams "fight"! A couple of boars stopped following me at some point, and the game froze. But I've played again and again, it's kinda addictive :)
Very very fun! Top marks!
So bizarre! Very nice work for such a short time!
haaha resource management for making sharks! Awesome!!!
Haha very very fun! Also very cute tileset :))
Kudos Just Tom!
Very fun, and definitely commendable for 48 hours. Wow!
very beautiful, love the minimalist design!!
I could use a zoom-in button, but it's lovely-looking!
I needed the controls to be less punishing, but that may just be me
This is so amazing! THank you for making it. It's scary and creepy to me, living on top of a tiny island with all this water around you... So I did my best to keep the little people afloat. Amazing graphics and addictive gameplay. I really cared about the this tiny island!!
Punish the knights! Yeah!
The graphics are so beautiful. The best in this LD I think! I'm standing there looking at the 3D. Wow! You guys knew what you were doing!!!!!!!
The game could be a little more engaging, but it's a good start! Are you developing further?
Lovely to see this, top marks for graphics!!
Dear me, how smart can you be in order to make a game like this! Wow. The idea is innovative, the levels hard but fair, the controls are responsive and gameplay, just WOW! Fantastic job TobiasW <3
lovely puzzles
absolutely gorgeous! It plays and feels so COOL!
I feel awesome killing those ghosts! Particles, movement, player reinforcement (and of course music) are top notch!!!
Omg hi GrooveMan! Thanks so much for the kind and completely accurate comment!
I was looking forward to see if you made a game this LD. I'm not disappoint!!!!!!
This is ambitious and awesome, even more than Pizzapocalypse
Very very fun! The rendition of the 9th Symphony was so much like Wendy Carlos. I stayed playing just for that after a point! Also, fantastic upgrade system <3
Amazing work!!! An endless digger. This is fantastic! Top marks for graphics, fun and mood!
aww lovely style. I adore illustrations of the ground in section, and you're using it very well. Also, I love the five ton pumpkins! Kudos!
Lovely game! So much work for 3 days, wow <3 Top marks for Fun, Theme, Graphics and Mood
This is amazing you guys!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you for this <3 So pretty and so fun!
haha I loved sailing around!!!! Top marks!!!
Beautiful and so hard! Fantastic game
*adorable* graphics, I'm in awe!
Absolutely beautiful. Needed a little getting used to, but it's quirky and fun!
very atmospheric!
Fantastic. I had so much fun, destruction is very good positive feedback!
Lovely mood! I wish the controls were a little tighter. See, when camera turns, I'm now clicking on a different place, where I don't want to go. Otherwise fantastic for 48 hours!
Amazing graphics! Everything is so polished!! <3
Awesome mechanic! It seems all enemy bullets are hitting me even though they're not facing my direction. If that was fixed, I'd be having a blast!
Also, maybe some enemies shouldn't be able to shoot through their shield? Not all, just some. For more fair play. But it's awesome and I've spent a good 20 minutes shooting away, kudos!
so innovative! It's like the games I used to dream up when I was a kid. Top marks for innovation!!!!
oh this is beautiful! So deep and so interesting. Top marks for fun and innovation, loved this!
Incredible graphics and mood! I'm sure it' a feat of engineering too, I'm not even smart enough to understand how you did it. Drilling is absolutely responsive and very fun to do!
Lovely graphics! I second mouse-controlled shooting. Very impressive anyway!
Amazing graphics, amazing fun, what a great game!
Top marks hope you come first!
Lovely, lovely work. And so polished!!!
Very very fun! TOp marks for the mood as well!
Absolutely incredible. I mean, genious, I'm really impressed. I didn't mind the lack of music at *ALL* and if there was any, I'd expect it to be unobtrusive like the victory music at the end, so I can feel the lovely paper fold and listen to the soothing sound of it. I'm blown away by this, and by the fact that you left such a nice comment on my half-done engine. Can we be friends?
I love incredible machine-type games, this is great you guys!!!!!! I love love love you big time C&C The art and level design are, as usual, amazing. I liked the music lots too. I'm still humming it <3
So well made as always. Well-done, soldier! Aren't you happy you did this?
Thanks everyone! Was super tired obviously. Should work now <3
Ok some replies.
Firs of all thanks everyone for checking it out
1. The art is not scaled down lineart, it's just unpolished pixelart. Or oekaki. At any rate, drawn at that size, for all it matters.
2. I totally see the scott pilgrim/paul robertson/o'malley resemblance. Never played the game myself, I totally love the look of it though, and completely adore the books and movie. Didn't mean to "rip" anyone off, this is just an experiment with completely underdone graphics, and besides I'm not making any money off it *or* using someone else's assets.
3. I'm not sad, not in pain, not unhappy, not regretting that this game isn't finished. As I'm not a coder, I learnt a ton in those three days: FSM enemy behavior, pathfinding, hitboxes, attack boxes and beat 'em up Z type movement. If this looks like a failed project to you, I don't mind. But it was awesome for me :)
Lots of love,
C
this is simple and to the point, but by no means did I find it simplistic. I could play this for hours! I'd be twice as motivated if there were a separate game state which is influenced by how well I do. Like, idk, a trophy list or collectible ASCII art for each level I clear, that I can view in a gallery later.
Kudos, thanks for making it!!
This is lovely! I'm a sucker for master of orion-type games, and this one certainly made me feel good about micromanaging! I'd love more content if you want to make any. If you need pixels maybe I could help. Especially with named NPCs <3 I give this full marks
So beautiful you guys <3 Love your game and you!
the left click attack was hard, but this is really beautiful and really polished. I mean, from the time I typed in my name, I felt the game to be responsive and bouncy. Loved it. And I lol'd on the pun
Lovely lovely work you guys <3 As usual!
Beautiful art, I like the writing too! Good job you guys!
Just beautiful!
A little buggy, but this is the best game I've made. I got lost in the world, I got lost in the mechanics, ideas exploded out of me. I made 10 levels, I only stopped because of time constraints.
So look. This is Nya Koori, an ice mage. She doesn't like to hurt stuff, but when there's an infestation of dinosaurs, what can you do?
Stunning them and throwing them back to their world through a magic portal, that's what.
controls:
* left and right arrows to move, X to jump
* Z to cast freeze spell
* when enemies are fully frozen, Down Arrow performs a Dash that knocks them over
* then you can catch them
* then you throw them at the portal by Z+X at the same time
Repeat until they're all back home.
Obviously inspired by the great bubble bobble, liquid kids, rainbow islands and snow bros. So basically Taito in the 80ies :D

Huge thanks to r0j0hound from the Construct 2 community. He didn't help me with anything specifically this time, but every time I search through the forums, he's already answered all my questions.
The rest is me. Pixelart and animation in photoshop CS5, music in FLstudio. This time I used VOPL, a free sega genesis sound chip emulator. Chirp Lab and some FLstudio again for the sfx.
To-do: more levels! Bug fixes, mainly the platform movement. Comb the spaghetti code.
Please let me know what you think.
This is beautiful and so fun! Thank you! The graphics, music, puzzle design, all so satisfying <3
A tiny complaint about level design (arrows were scarce, no indication of where the rhino would spawn), which made me feel a little underpowered. But! Everything else is amazing, the main mechanic feels squishy and satisfying, the different weapons are fun, the camera shake when you charge your shot, the music, everything felt great. Kudos you guys!
Ha! The gum weapon is so versatile!! Kudos!!!
Looks amazing and plays great
Fantastic work like the last time!!!! <3 Keep raising the bar
Good job! I hate those wizards. What did you use for the music? It's very catchy :D
As a trans woman, I soooo know what your endgame means. Wow :D Kudos for the super innovative idea
This is fantastic, bravo Ellian! Such mood, and worldbuilding! The random generation works so well! So much stuff for three days, bravo!
It's amazing, I love the gameplay *and* idea, *and* the control scheme, and of course the graphics, they're SO professional. Bravo, Ekaterina, bravo Aleksey and Alyeg
I wish I had Vive, this is remarkable! And the Tatooine vibes, and the Rodian-like aliens... Is someone waiting for the new star wars? <3
Brilliant style
Tx forer. Wizardry/Lands of Lore/Eye of the Beholder. The theme got lost, I decided to go with my second idea, i.e. seeing whether I can make a dungeon crawler engine in 2.5 days.
Celestine was supposed to be a sorceress, but eh.The shields crumbling are actually me being out of time. Couldn't really implement an inventory..
Thanks everyone, I transferred the game to my dropbox and also embedded it on this page. I think it ought to work!
@philipp Thank you. I wouldn't go to kickstarter with this demo, I was asking whether the genre and the tiny resolution was appealing enough. I should have made it clear. Thanks again.
@SSJMetroid I understand. Thank you nonetheless
@matthias_zarzecki thank you ^-^
@aamatniekss I agree. thank you
@marcolomeo thanks so much! It takes a good eye to appreciate the work that went in it, thank you for noticing.
@DragonXVI Yay! Yes you're right, I didn't update the viewport algorithm after the slime is dead, plus some more bugs. Hahaha "shield-shaped dust piles" is so accurate ^-^'
@David Cookie: yay! Thank you. Hopefully it will become clearer in future
@Gamepopper: thank you! Ultima is one of my faves too!
@TeamEagle <3
@Warboys re:Kickstarter i agree <3 thank you. I'm sorry about Celestine, she's pretty useless without her spellbook.
@sergicollado: automap in the making ^-^
@TaylorAnderson: thank you! I promise I will
@nuprahtor: it does, you're very right. I will also tweak the battles (it's currently based on d20, maybe that was a bad call)
@Big Green Pillow ft Mgaia: thank you so much <3
@kaotiklabs: thank you! I'm going to try
@pjimmy: this is the sweetest comment ever, thank you so much <3 You're absolutely right about everything that needs fixing, and I intend to fix them.
@axoona: automap coming up
@commodoreKid: it's very true, lots missing. Making a game unique is always hard, but I'll try
@Phoenix849: no need to apologize, if you don't like it, then you don't like it :)
@shcromlet: agreed, thank you!
@ithildin thank you. You're very right. "Promising" is what I like to hear :))
@markusfisch: aww thank you so much! <3 I hope I can turn it into something fun
@bogely: thank you! Only one attack was missing in fact, the spellbook. The 4 characters you're controlling are on the tile you're standing on. It's a 1st person game, like Etrian Odyssey, Wizardry, any of those. An automap is coming up. Thank you!
@yuigoto: thank you <3 It's a bug :/ The viewport doesn't update properly, I apologize.
@blackmagic: I agree, wall decorations coming up, as well as a minimap <3
@SeaDads: not a man, and thank you <3
@SiENcE: thank you so much! Means a lot coming from you. I'll look into it!
@danbolt: thank you! There's a trick to making tiny pixelart: avoid single pixels
@Dockjekyll: thank you! And yes please do, and show us!
@codexus: <3 glad you liked it
@tapehead: thank you!
@adsilcott: I *will* fix the inventory, so you can pick up shields <3 Thanks for playing
@KZdev: I will!
@Rob Glen: thank you. I'm not sorry about the theme, I made 9 on-theme LD games so far, and this was the most fun of them all
@Raius: thank you! new enemies are coming up :))
@SkullPixel: aww thank you. I'll teach you, it's really simple:
There's only one secret to working in tiny resolutions: avoid single pixels (i.e. always keep your pixels connected, unless you need a single pixel for a highlight or something) and avoid banding. It's counter-intuitive, but the *less* single pixels you have, the *more* detail you can pack in a small space. That's because single pixels read as noise.
@justinooncx: thank you, I'll work on the graphical issues. Drag and drop code isn't to be underestimated!
@Jwatt: thank you, you're right of course. I obviously had no more time during the LD, but I'll work on it in future
@Anachron: aww I'm sorry about your party! Questlord is really cool, so thank you!
@scottrick: you're right, the exit is very hastily coded and full of issues. Thank you <3
@Krafty: the bottom right character was supposed to be a spellcaster, but I had no time to fix her attack. Unfinished is exactly the word. Thank you for playing though <3
@Didi <3
@PeachTreeOath: aww... well you can go back and finish it, it was pretty sweet! I'm replaying it right now
@Evergreen Games: indeed a proof of concept. Thank you for playing <3
@KunoNoOni: omg thank youuuuuu hahaha <3 you're the sweetest. I wrote a post mortem with a bunch of code, I linked it on this page. If you want to see more, please feel free to ask, I can upload the whole thing
@Solifuge: thank you so much for your kind comments <3 Hehe, I don't think my 2 buttons fit the theme, but you're a sweetheart for pointing it out :D I have decided to keep working on it, thanks to one or two comments like yours, thanks again!
@Yword: thank you :))
@IAMSpencer: thank you so much! I'm working on it still
@oz2mura: I promise I will! So glad you like the graphics, I wasn't sure the tiny resolution would appeal to people
@Astro Cat: thank you <3
@sputnik: wheee! I always knew it could be done, I just didn't know if I could do it. You never know until you try :D
@fergarram: I'm sorry... pretty buggy isn't it.
@Pusty: I know, I'll make the hits more evident :D And no it didn't fit the theme, but I don't mind, I had fun
@Herzucco: wheee fellow C2 user :D Hi! Thank you
@KaiseanGames: I feel like I made it ^-^ I know it doesn't look like much, but it was hard work. Thank you for playing!
So lovely! I enjoyed the Hearthstone vibe, but it's also very enjoyable on its own. Great take on the genre peeps <3
Aww lovely, you peeps <3 Graphics, gameplay, everything is polished and as it should be. Am I the only one who sees the sexism in having specifically only women being thrown around for fun? Women's bodies already ridiculed and thought of as disposable in every single part of the world (except maybe some of sweden?)
It made me cringe after I hit the first woman with my car, while carrying another one.
Why not patients of any gender? What's specifically funny about being fat and pregnant?
Sorry to spoil the mood! It really is great in every other way
Absolutely beautiful and clever. What a combination, full marks for this <3
Very very cool :D I wasn't fond of the last button, I tried for a few minutes, then realized I don't just have to run back and forth, I have to press both arrows at the same time while running back and forth. But lovely job
wow such strong sense of style!!!! Also very fun and on-theme! Congrats!!!!
Fun game! I would have loved a shadow under Fugu, but it's still a very very fun and smart game <3
80630, and it's not phallic at all. Fun and relaxing!
