LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

A Terrible Place to Raise Children by otaviogood 2014-12-09T03:58:00

Fun take on a defense game. I really like the idea of playing a game on such a big axis. Reminds me of Ender's Game, a defensive strategy is not a good working strategy for space, you cannot effectively defend in all directions. I am curious, what do the blue circles do on the map?

Hard Winter by Taldius 2014-12-09T03:47:00

Pretty fun concept. I think I like that the focus never leaves the crystal, and when it shows you it gives you a little bubble of where you are at in the maze. This works especially well with a maze since you cannot see very far into the maze. The concept of drawing you into the maze so that you can better defend your crystal is pretty neat as well. I want there to be great riches in the maze though. Also, at a certain point, what incentive do I have to continue exploring once I have a bunch of cannons? I can just set there and keep replenishing them. I understand that you want to encoourage the player to keep coming bbback through the maze, but the paradigm shifts as you play and the reload mechanic instead encourages me to stay home and defend. You could put ammo in the maze, but if you are going into the maze to find just ammo seems pretty weak, maybe jazz it up somehow. You could have some fun adding diversity in your monsters and the defensive items you can find in the maze. Sorry for the long kind of rambly reply, this game is quite good and tied together nicely, good work.

Super Snow Girl by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2014-12-10T01:44:00

Like this one quite a bit. I don't know what is going on. I'm at a grave for my girlfriend and then boom snow ghost dudes are ripe for killing. Nice graphics, tight proof of concept. I'd like to see where it goes.

Kazee ! by jpcote 2014-12-09T03:16:00

So....I hate Joust. Still, this was pretty fun. Is there a feeding frenzy style mechanic where you plane gets bigger as you kill other planes and that is how you kill the bigger ones? If not, that might be something you can plumb. Nice and tight gameplay, good assets, solid controls. Very nice package.

I think the SWF download is driving people away from this one. It is very artistic and a joy to play!

Save the Giant by drkrunk 2014-12-09T04:10:00

Good try, the art is beautiful, I would play this game!

Lone Wolf by KeinBaum 2014-12-09T02:52:00

I did not give this the highest stats, but I enjoyed it. I feel as though with some time and work on the controls and setting that it could be a lot more fun. In a way, it is another version of feeding frenzy, with the poop included.

Spacey Trail by Jacksendary 2014-12-09T02:47:00

Seems like there was power creep in the development of this game. It feels like it wants to be a sidescroller FTL, or maybe a final fantasy FTL mashup. What is with the characters in the upper right corner. It didn't matter that they were there. The events are a cool concept, but nothing matters in them. I like all the stats and things you need to keep track of, but the scope of this project was just too big to take on.

Wizard Battle by eerongal 2014-12-09T03:12:00

Game was a little difficult to slip into. That isn't bad. It made my brain bend a little to understand the concept of the game. Doing top down and sidescroller at the same time is wild. I am playing on a laptop and do not have all of the controls needed to play, so I didn't get the whole experience. That all being said, I do not think it is a game you could play long term. This is a clever way of overcoming the problem of presenting a 3D game with 2D development, and I wouldn't imagine it would be welcoming long term. Very fun entry.

BUSY DUNGEON by MrLeePerry 2014-12-09T03:22:00

This was very cool. I love the idea of a game fit into a banner. Now I want to design advertisement games. I like the art and style of the game quite well and the simple nature. Was simple and pretty hard. Tight design as well, no power creep, excellent work.

Fart Force One by calsmurf2904 2014-12-09T03:05:00

Pretty commonly done type of game. Always kind of fun for a laugh. I wish there was something new going on here though. It all works and is put together well.

BIRDS! by barryrowe 2014-12-09T03:04:00

I love the artwork. This is definitely a game to help you chill out. Great work!

Hive by JoshDBB 2014-12-09T04:11:00

The look and feel of this one are great!

Hazard Hills by CliffracerX 2014-12-09T02:31:00

Nice fun little platformer. Does have all of the problems of a platformer and it drives me crazy, but I played a bunch of levels, so I had fun. I like that you get right back into the action after dying, helps relieve the frustration. I'd like to see it polished up a bit more. I'm curious why are we trying to get to the light. Being enticed to ask that question after some play is a good sign.

DisChord by Grindstorm 2014-12-09T04:07:00

Good game play. It is a clever puzzler concept.

7 Days of War by error031 2014-12-09T02:21:00

Very nice mood. Seems hopeless, which fits very nicely into the games mechanics. I'd like to see a whole collection of mini games like this that all connect together and everything is kind of hopeless. Kind of turning the whole happy fun party games on their head.

Lord Of the Dungeon by ctuelho 2014-12-09T04:06:00

I like the main screen. That 3 headed dragon thing is the bee's knees. Gameplay was a little flat, and I didn't know what I was supposed to do. I could run and hop, and get beat up by monsters. You seem to be a wizzard. Did you notice the 2 Zs? Maybe a spell bar on one side would be cool, you can click on the spell and that is the effect that your avatar takes on. There are a lot of way you can interact here with the enemies.

Guns & Bricks by tMalicet 2014-12-09T04:12:00

Alright fun game. Play and control work well enough. I like that the blocks hang around and can get in your way.

Clickity Click by broknecho 2014-12-09T03:32:00

Good solid mechanics and gameplay. Seems like a very successful proof of concept to me. If you would decide to spend more time with it you could find a very deep game. Has a simple concept, that is easy to understand and play. Is kind of a twist on all the games where you send out waves of dudes to destroy your opponents fort, but it has a nice system built in for how your get your resources. I would love to see how you build on it story wise. Why and who is attacking you?

Ghost Digger by lexi 2014-12-09T01:59:00

There doesn't seem to be a lot of strategy to this game. I feel as though my decisions didn't matter. I think that the game could be made into something quite fun with a good amount of work. The mood of the game was pretty nice. There is a bit of a claustrophobic vibe, which is pretty great.

Filthy And Guilty by Pajama-Llama 2014-12-09T03:01:00

Gorgeous game. The art assets are very nice. I have no clue what I am doing in the game and had a hard time accomplishing anything. Moving around also took ages, and I didn't see a reason for it to take so long to get around. I feel as though you should be able to access and interact with more stuff, but it isn't obvious how to do so. Gorgeous and fun, would like it to be a bit more welcoming play wise.

One Killer - One Window by Thalia 2014-12-09T02:09:00

I had a lot of fun with this game. I like how it is a mixture of a bunch of other types of games and Rear Window. I just started playing it to see what it was like and I found myself playing it and reading its' text and enjoying it.
