The Diggers Refrain by Verz 2014-05-01T02:41:00
Very nice. Concept is good, implementation is good, art is good, and the voices are fitting. Well done!

Very nice. Concept is good, implementation is good, art is good, and the voices are fitting. Well done!
Kivifreak, pancakecity. Thanks for playing, and glad you liked the concept! We're working on the float rounding and asset size issues with the HTML5 port.
Great entry! everything feels smooth and polished. I love the bouncing of the body parts and the little ammo casings too. nice touches!
I'm not sure what I was supposed to do. Just hitting e to reset the players doesn't seem like a game. :( Audio was good, but the mechanics aren't clear and I'm not sure how it relates to the theme.
I can't say enough good things about this entry. It's just really solid all the way through. Graphics are perfect for the feel. The puzzles are fun to play through instead of frustrating. The theme is definitely there. Everything is good. Very solid entry.
This whole game is a blast to play. Bonus points for the 2nd screenshot thumbnail looking like a sun crying and puking rainbows. Awesome job all around.
This is really really fun. Very very well done. I got stuck at the Red/Blue/Purple stage. Definitely be proud of this game!
This was fun. It's very straight forward so the puzzles weren't a huge challenge, but the environment was interesting enough I didn't mind just wandering around looking for easter eggs. Great world.
Good concept, really tough (though on a touchpad any mouse based controls are tough!). Loved the monster and character art.
This is very good. The puzzles increase in difficulty nicely. The story keeps you wanting to play, as do the fun mechanics. The animations, graphics and audio are great. Very good entry, and keep doing more of this!
Great concept and look!
Great visual style. The Art and Audio on this game are spot on. I like the mechanic as well.
Nicely done. A nice pace change from all the action games I've come across. Solid humor in the interactions most of the time too.
Like others have said, this took a little time to understand what was going on. I think it hurt me more, since I'm on a laptop and the rightclick to view the world is pretty clunky with a touchpad (I didn't hold that against you score-wise though, I could easily have used a mouse). I like the audio and animations. I think with some tweaking on the starting credits and positions of planets this could be a very nice puzzler.
So tough! Nice fitting the theme with this mechanic.
Fun arcade style game. Good start, keep going!
Good concept, but AI is too tough. Great atmosphere (graphics and audio).
This mechanic is really fun, and a really nice interpretation of the theme! Awesome job!
I like the audio and graphics. Everything seemed to work well. I just couldn't grasp the mechanic very well. Seems like I'm in the minority though. Good job.
Well done! This is a lot of fun, and I could see this being expanded pretty easily as more levels are designed. Great job.
I'm not big on these types of games usually, but this story was nice.
What a neat concept. I'm bummed my Chrono Trigger/Wonder Years crossover titled "The Wonder what Years" didn't make me much money though. Good job.
I was really intrigued, but couldn't play much since the dream scene would fade to black and never come back after 2 seconds. :/ The island mode seems like a solid start, and I like the concept.
This is an addictive game. Just frustrating enough to keep me playing! Smooth controls, and nice graphics!
I like this concept. I especially like the trade-off you're forced to make between a high XP run, and swapping dimensions to prevent the bunnies from progressing. I do wish the space control wasn't flip dimensions haha. I flipped dimensions on accident too many times trying to jump.
I love the "high-res pixel" aesthetic. I also like the story, and attention to detail in the cut scenes. The game play in the school was a little tough. Sometimes enemies would spawn already shooting and the projectile was unavoidable. Strong entry!
Interesting mechanic. Took me a bit to figure it out, but I do like it. An indicator of what is coming up next would be very helpful. If I throw down all water tiles, and water enemies appear, then I have to reset everything before I can deal with them. Good concept.
I really hope you continue this game after the jam. This is so well made. The art and the "juice" animations are just phenomenal. One of the best entries I've played. Hope to see more someday.
This is a really good concept. I think it could use some balancing at the beginning, so that you don't immediately end up in a world that your organism can't thrive in. Like, maybe the first few moves are always to a world where the organism won't die, but the rate of growth fluctuates. That way the player can play longer and feel like their decisions to move affect the game more than randomly getting unlucky. Great concept though, and the simplicity of the graphics are perfect.
Fun game, but man are you right about the graphics warning. I'm usually fine, but I feel a little nauseous after that lol. Good theme and fun game though. I definitely got lost during the mushroom worlds.
The camera was making it tough to complete some objectives, but the feel and look of the game are nice.
Awesome job, keep it up!
I like the concept and the ambiance. However, I think having predefined level puzzles would be a better approach than randomly generating them. As others have said, sometimes it's really easy, and other times is excessively hard. If a player gets a hard level first, that's going to deter them from playing further.
Haven't figured out the pattern yet, but this is a nice concept and fun to play.
Great horror feel, and nice graphics/audio. Difficulty is right on as well. Very well done!
I like this concept a lot. The sub-levels are very tough, but a good challenge. The controls switching directions when the camera changes views is a little bit odd, and led to a lot of lost connections.
Nice mechanic! Throwing planets into one another is oddly satisfying.
I think the time between waves, is a little slow, but the gameplay is nice. The customization is also a nice touch.
This was very enjoyable. I plan to come back and try to see what that boss did!
@mrspeaker It should still be running normally. We have seen some machines have a hard time with the web version due to the stress of WebGL and an inefficient shader on our part. The experience is definitely much better with the desktop versions.
This is an interesting concept. it would have been nice to see more animation and some audio.
This is a very fun concept. Sometimes it is impossible to switch lanes fast enough though. Fun entry!
I like this. I think it starts lagging a bit after a while in the browser, but the game is fun and the mechanics are good!
This was really fun. The theme comes through very well, and that mechanic is very well implemented. I wanted more levels! Great job.
This game is really really good. Super fun, looks crisp, and the audio is perfect. Home run. I only hope I can make an entry as good some day.
The flapping hat is my favorite animation. Super good mechanic, great job!
This game is so well done for a weekend. Great world, great twist, loads of fun all around!
I'm intrigued by the asteroid controls. At first I was frustrated that the rockets didn't destroy anywhere in the line. Once I got used to it though, I liked it, and I also haven't seen a mechanism like that. also very tough if you miss many asteroids!
This game is really nice. Very well done. The turning path keeps the game challenging, the graphics are well put together, the animations are smooth, the audio enhances instead of distracting, and you even hit the sense of urgency with the rumbling shadow. Nice entry! Well well done.
Fun arcade style game. The sfx were a little harsh for someone who's bad at it and dies a lot, but great job! The controls are smooth, and the goal is clear.
This is well made. I like the concept, the controls are solid, the animations are solid, and the audio is solid. Had fun just collecting resources.
This game is such a good entry. Very well done!
I like how friendly your artwork is. Very nice concept as well!
This game was really fun. Nice platform puzzler! I played all the way to the end, but took me a while!
This mechanic is great, and well implemented. I also love the self-recorded sfx. I actually kind of like that I had to figure out how the environment interacted. The ending was odd, and I believe ended abruptly on the mac version. Maybe it's a reference to something I just missed? Dunno, but good mechanic.
I love this concept. I think the timing of the planets is a little bit off for the start of the game. I think a two planet starting point would be good to get used to the controls and timings. Definitely a good concept though.
This is really well done. Everything looks smooth, and polished. The visuals are definitely the best part. Those animations are perfect. Great job.
This game looks so good. The concept is always great (I'm glad to see a game without planets!) I loved everything about this entry.
Nice to see a good puzzle game. Mood is great too!!
The music is great. I also like that there are two games in one here. Controls are well implemented. Good concept, well executed.
Good concept, and the visuals are well done. Those droopy, melting snowmen are animated nicely. I could never get a box positioned before getting overwhelmed. The player might move a little bit fast. Fun simple game.
This is a fun entry. I couldn't get pass the 4th cat, but on the second try, I accidentally came across a bug and easily became Simba. Mufasa would have been proud!
I love the way this looks, and the use of the theme. I feel like I cheated to get a complete circuit, but that's ok. Great job on the visuals, and concept.
Nailed it. This game looks, plays, and feels wonderful. The mood is perfect. The chosen music and the timing of the enemies is dead on. It's a nice take on a high score game. And the visuals are outstanding. Very good work.
Lost in space and time! The visual is spectacular! I love how you guys managed to curve/distort the black hole's sphere, creates for an atmospheric sensation. Also, great job on the narrative, you guys sounded like you had a good time with voice acting! My only gripe is the game's interaction with the player, there is literally almost none. - LeMix
This is hectic, and frustrating, and awesome. It's a lot of fun, and you feel at least a percentage like what any normal person would probably feel like shoved into a spaceship with no training. The audio is clean, the interface is smooth, and the turn around time on failure keeps you coming back to try again. Great job.
This game looks sooo good. It's also a challenge to make doing the same thing multiple times interesting, but I never thought about quitting. I had to see what was next. Awesome entry.
This is fun. The concept and mechanics are great. I wish the dash would dash in the current moving direction. The bottom right column is always a tough one to get away from.
Good job, guys! This has a combination of good programming, art, and music! Thank god for the "F" key.
This is fun. i don't know why, because it seems like an exercise in futility, but the death sounds, money ka-chings/clinks, and other sfx are very satisfying. I also had to play until I saw a wizard battle.
This is a great game. This is my favorite entry so far. Also, if there was a category for rating "Rage Inducing" I would vote 5 stars there :). I finally gave up on the barrier level. I just couldn't make it through. So hard, but very very fun. Great entry.
Silly Bots! You can't beat me at silly board games!
I love the simple vector art style! The incorporation of AI is great since we don't all readily have 3 other friends to join us for a quick play.
This is an intriguing game. I am not sure the controls work 100%. Often I would select "take them off" when washing my boots and it would have me look for water. Also, I wanted to check out the different character types, but you have to restart the game to change race. The concept is good, and the art is great. Tough to understand what the real goal is. I think I had to explore a village, raid a castle and become a princess?
This game is fun. I like the concept, and the mechanic. It reminds me of a game I used to play all the time on newgrounds/ffiends/ebaumsworld/one of the other old hubs of flash games where you had to keep a soccerball alive. The audio was a little bit grating. I would have liked to have a more satisfying sound when you click the ball.
Awesome job. The animations and audio are spot-on! The game feels hectic but not anxiety inducing. The controls are really satisfying, and I feel bad for the little ghost because I suck at not getting chomped.
Smooth controls. The audio was cute at first, but kind of grated on me after a while. Simple fun high score game. Not bad.
Great entry! I found myself impatient at first and took the time for granted with the fast forward button only to find myself playing this game a couple more times, just to see the hilarious ending. Very fun!
This is a great idea. I wish you could dodge the eraser in a way that it would erase the math problems. This would add a neat upside to dodging the eraser smoothly in the right positions. Good job. fun to play.
Neat concept, but I didn't feel like I had real control of the outcome. I kept getting dealt all pool tiles when the board is all pools and there were no moves to make. The graphics were fun, and the sounds were satisfying.
One of the best games I've played. Definitely the best use of the theme I've seen. I know the visuals and story line aren't everyone's style, but I thought they were great.
This mechanic is great. I wish it was slightly more constrained to maybe just the character keys. I guess it is part of the challenge, but I ended up feeling as if I was just mashing keys rather than having to be a skilled "keyboard organist". The game is still fun, and has a unique mechanic. Well done.
I couldn't test the multiplayer, but I like the concept. The controls seem very nice and satisfying. The camera also seems solid. I can imagine how it would help intensify large battles.
This is a lot of fun. I love the aesthetic of the cardboard puppet-show style theatre. Slightly challenging, but not overly so. Well done!
Simple clean controls. Funny characters. Fun game.
Great concept. It seems like the only way to win is to mad dash to the chopper and hope you hit the right section of that last wall. The mechanic is a great idea though, and I'd love to see a more detailed, tuned version of the game (with more ammo!).
It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but I didn't care because it looked so good and felt so soothing. This game looks and sounds great. Good job.
This is great. It's very similar to an idea our team had, but decided against. To be more specific, this is a BETTER version of a game we thought about building. Great job. Even when you are getting a bad score it still feels fun and compelling to play. The rules are a little confusing with all the stats being shown.
This is really well done. I had to check this out after watching LarryChupacabra cover it. The transition animations are so well done. All of the art looks great. The sound is great, the gameplay is smooth and fun. There's a lot of depth to the game. Very well done.
Great work. Everything is clear, controls well, and challenging. There is enough going on to keep you interested and anxious, but not so much that you get overwhelmed. The music was a little repetitive, but that's really about my only feedback. Nice work.
Pretty funny! I like controlling a character that's controlling a game. I pooped my pants too many times. Who knew it was so easy to do.
I like this concept. I'm not sure if I'm just missing something or what, but it appeared after the second room, there's no way to get through a solid wall blocking the path? The visuals were great. The stretching of the blocks, and movement based ont he beat is awesome.
This is a great concept. The building of the rules on top of one another keeps the game interesting. The audio really fits. I wish it had a little more visual juice. Nicely done.
The graphics and controls are great. I wish the attack collision was extended over your body so if they walk under you it still hurts the enemy. I'm rating on the version without sound. I feel like this game with sound would be very enjoyable. It's great as is, but missing that satisfying sound feedback. Good work.
This is really fun. A nice simple physics game. I like that the mechanic is so simple, but can produce such variation. The sound effects are a tad grating. I wish they were a nice set of soft satisfying squishes or "dink!" type sounds. I played this for a while just bouncing the duck box around.
This is a pretty fun game. The stage element transitions between stages was a pretty nice effect. I do think this falls in the punishing category of difficulty. The collision boxes on the spikes seemed a bit aggressive, and once levels get a little longer, not having way points really punishes the player.
I love this game. I was pretty frustrated at first, but I should have read the directions more clearly. I didn't get the tilt until unable to make it to village 3 for 3 minutes. Great visuals, great mechanic, great music, great controls. The theme is a bit of a stretch. I see where you're coming from though.
This is great. I played by myself, but I can see how awesome this could be with two players. The controls are simple, the goal is simple, the mechanics are well implemented, and there is a real challenge. Nicely done.
The controls are a little bit frustrating, but the idea is solid. The music is really good for the game. Good work.
A lot of fun. This is way more balanced and challenging than the first couple of spawns led me to believe. Mechanics are nice. I wish there was an indicator of how the knights determine a winner. Well done.
Good concept, and the mini-map as a game look comes across well.
I never knew my life needed cake turtles until I played this game. Awesome job. Beating up desserts has never felt so satisfying.
Great entry. This really throws you for a curveball. I like that. I was worried a lot of people were going to use the sitting at a computer screen gimmick, and I'm glad you all did what you did. Fun, looks good, sounds good, challenging. Well done.
Fun game, and good mechanics. The animations feel good (fades) and the faces are funny. I wish there were more puzzles and levels, but it's a fun game.
I like this game. It's a nice puzzler. The audio is great. I thought at first I would be annoyed with the robot voice, but it never got on my nerves. It keeps the mood in check. I couldn't finish the game, but that's just me being bad at it.
This is a great concept, and a fun mechanic. I just wish I had a limited-use, or cooldown dash move so that I could do more than just maximize my distance from the refs. Once they are close, you can't get away. Could only get up to 9 seconds :/
Neat idea. The concept took a second to grasp but works well. The audio is a little bit grating after a while. Good job.
This game looks and sounds great. I'm not sure how the theme is applied. It's also difficult to attack enemies without dying. It's also hard to tell when an attack hits versus you getting hit. (I thought I was doing well then died :/)
Awesome job. So much packed into a Jam entry.
Interesting concept. I could not complete the puzzle however, and if there is a reload option other than refreshing I did not discover it which makes restarting quite rough.
This is simple, snowball throwing fun. It would be nice if there were more levels but can't fault you for that in 48 hours. Maybe some of the snowmen could have been faster but taken less shots? Just a couple notes. Well done.
I really like this mechanic. It's very difficult, but I bet it could be polished to really skew towards skilled players. Needs some good graphics juice added, and bump up the audio. Good work, and keep at it post-jam!
This is a great looking and sounding game. The controls are smooth as well. The difficulty doesn't really ramp up as I expected, so I eventually just let them destroy me so I could see my death animation. Solid entry.
This is a nice relaxing game. Until you get to the later waves! The mood and visuals are great. It's a pretty adorable game. Very nicely done.
Very well done. I was expecting a lot of rotating platform style games, so I had low expectations. You blew those out of the water. This game is a lot of fun, looks great, sounds great, fits the theme, and the controls are super solid. There are a couple of spawn points that feel a little bit unfair in certain orientations. That makes it feel like the game caused me to lose rather than my skill level. Great entry.
Nice mechanic. I like not having a control to go backwards. It adds to the difficulty nicely. Many times I died because I tried to go backwards. I wish the terrain generation was a little more forgiving. There seem to be some spaces that spawn while you're in the air and you just have no where to go. Maybe I'm just bad at the game.
Decent concept. Donuts are always good. Wish the menus and text were more visible. Some of the options were covered by other buttons. The music is good.
Good humor. The purchase sound effect oddly never gets annoying. The slider for the restock seems to overlap with the price a little. I accidentally restocked too many a few times costing me all my money.
This is a fun game that ramps up in difficulty quickly. I wish it had some audio to enhance the pressure of the jellyfish onslaught. I love the aesthetic. Simple, pink arcade style.
Very well done. Enjoyable, challenging, smooth controls, solid audio. Good game.
This game is really enjoyable. I didn't even realize I was trying to pile them up the first time I just was having fun slicing up enemies. If you're quick enough you can do some nice mid-air platform jumps with dying enemies. Well done.
Very very difficult. I'm not sure I figured out how to survive properly, but I did learn to protect myself from metal spiders. I like the concept.
This looks, and sounds great. The controls are little awkward, and some of the attacks are odd. I only played the original version to keep the rating fair. The concept art is amazing. Good entry.
The control scheme at first was annoying, then I realized that's really the game. You have to make decisions wisely knowing you have to move in reverse next. Interesting mechanic.
Great idea. I wish it was a bit longer. I did play twice to see both sides. Glad you added the ability to move through faster than the audio/visual cues (which were well done by the way).
This is a great implementation of the theme. I like the depth of the different levels in the background, and how the puzzles are clear, but appear confusing. The game appears overwhelming at first glance, but when you start digging in you can see how it is supposed to interact. I wish I knew if there were any secrets I missed, or if something new happens if I open fewer/more doors.
Fun game, fun characters. I'm not sure how the theme is applied. The collision is a little wonky where you can get stuck in platforms coming from below them. The fireballs are a nice challenge.
This is fun, challenging, looks good, and the controls are pretty smooth. Well done. I'm bad at this game, and could never protect the tower, but it's a lot of fun. Great job.
This game is pretty outstanding. Being your first game also just blows me away. As others have said, the jumping is a little bit tough, but maybe that's a good thing. I really want to see a full playthrough. I could not find the entrance to the last (I believe) dot on the left side of the center formation. X also appears to do nothing anywhere in the map.
Models look awesome. Waves are balanced with the reload speeds and ammo counts. Blasting the little ones with a shotgun is super satisfying. Great game. Fantastic job.
I love this mechanic. It's so simple on a touch device. You also weren't kidding about it being tough on a phone! Glad to see a mobile game entry as well. Nice work.
As the artist for our projects, the art and the animation are stellar and is greatly appreciated! Especially the sword animations, not sure how you guys achieved the rotational swing animation but it looks awesome! The progression of this game is great, the light gets dimmer as you progress, adding a layers of difficulties because you couldn't the see swarm of enemies like you could in the beginning. Great job, guys! - LeMix
Funny idea. Surprisingly challenging. Those dogs cover a lot of ground when they pee!!
This is a fun game. It's very difficult with the "don't touch the edge of the screen" mechanic. Also the shooting doesn't seem to register the mouse cursor exactly (maybe just full screen mode). The movement is satisfying, and challenging. The visuals are simple and stylish. The audio is pretty solid. It might break the theme just a tad, but I think I see how it's tied in with how often I died.
This is pretty impressive. The game is fun, and challenging. Everything looks pretty good, and sounds pretty good. The controls are smooth. I wish there was a little bit of a wider range for landing cleanly. Great job.
This is fun. It's tough, but not too punishing. Nice take on a simon-esque game. Not as repetitive as simon. I like it.
This is one of the best games I've played. The magnifying glass is a great use of the theme, and a real challenge. That level is HUGE! And that rainbow trail just sets off the visuals so well. Nice nice work.
Overall good concept. Really really difficult immediately. I like difficult games, but I fear this one might fall on the side of punishing instead of just difficult. The drowning bar and death animations are a good touch.
