LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Mazimon by The-Force 2014-12-16T00:32:00

You combined fog of war, a maze finder and a Simon to make a surprisingly addictive game Being able to quickly restart from a checkpoint made this game hard to put down. I liked how simple audio and visual feedback gave me a sense of how well I was doing; if I heard the save point audio I knew I was on the right track. Addictive puzzle game!

Trapped?! by Grouflon 2014-12-21T02:44:00

Yahh... not getting the game mechanic.

To Continue by raincole 2014-12-08T19:55:00

I like the simplicity of this game. Nice work!

AppAtk by Indigon 2014-12-08T20:13:00

Nice idea for a tower defense game, but unfortunately the game seems to lockup for me in Chrome and Firefox on my Mac after I put on a third tower. I am waiting till after the Jam is over to vote!

aspire by zillix 2014-12-09T03:56:00

I wish there was less wait time between deaths. Otherwise, nice game!

Tiny Square, Big Tower by EvilObjective 2014-12-08T06:28:00

This was the first game that I've played in this compo that drew me in. Nice work!

Pixplorer by Nega Drive 2014-12-09T04:42:00

Very cool concept for how to keep the game in one screen by showing a world map and an "action" screen. Sort of had a comic book look to it... it hits five stars in innovation and theme with this view. Nice variation on a theme and good work!

Shiftavoid by rob1221 2014-12-14T03:52:00

Another game that is easy to play over and over again! Just fell right into this game.. it was easy to figure out objective and controls. There is even a bit of replay value in the fact that there is a timer for how many courses you beat as you can always try to cram more in one game! Audio is simple but goes with the game. I like how the board rearranges itself, plainly showing that all elements of the game are on the screen at one time. Great entry, props for pure Flash implementation and for using Inkscape to create the graphics!

Fun With Lasers by ALobker 2014-12-09T19:56:00

I can't get the pieces to rotate with a right click in Firefox on my Mac... keeps bringing up a menu.

Avian Avoidance by cleitoneldorn 2014-12-14T03:08:00

I like that your game takes no time to replay as there is little delay between games. I also like that the game is very straightforward. The music goes with it as well. Other entrants take note, make your game this easy to play, restart and fall into and you'll create addicts for your game. Nice entry!

ATSS - A Typical Space Shooter by Groydis 2014-12-17T18:07:00

"Typical" doesn't really fit this original take on space battle. What is nice about this game is that you also incorporated a gravitational interaction between ships. You ranked high in Innovation from me.. nice game!

Hive by JoshDBB 2014-12-09T04:15:00

Wow one of the better jam entries I've played so far. The after glow from the vaporizer is a really neat effect, it was so cool to blast a spider as it jumped towards me and have its glowing afterimage pass through. The gameplay is solid and just works. Right when I was thinking "this game would be cooler with upgrades"... the night is over and I got to upgrade! Really well done and the first game that I've given a five star for mood. Nice work!

3Scale by jpmit 2014-12-09T19:52:00

Minimal game elements, maximum fun! The audio and music for this game is great. Good job!

Swarm by stephenhaney 2014-12-09T20:02:00

Another fellow JS/Canvas coder. Nice game!

The Book by Bachyard 2014-12-15T23:47:00

Fun game that is easy to pick up. A high score would have been great icing =). I had fun playing it, good job!

Terra Kata by jmborden 2014-12-08T07:59:00

@DavidLv - Every element of the game is on one entire screen at one time the whole time, save for the Game Over menu and perhaps a few straggling terra tiles just off screen to the left. The tiles are just moved from the front to the back in an endless cycle. The "pits" or gaps between tiles are just tiles that aren't active at the moment and thus aren't visible.

Terra Kata by jmborden 2014-12-08T22:05:00

@jelly
Thanks for the feedback. The colors were sampled from Super Mario Bros =). I changed up the tile scheme generator in the last few hours and was working hard to get more deliberate combinations, but... deadlines!

Gridception by Hammers 2014-12-21T00:46:00

Nice twist on Sokoban.. good job!

R by Floriaen 2014-12-10T03:42:00

I like this variation of a "robotron" game where you have independent control of character and direction of shooting. The game left me wanting more.. but hey this is ludum dare!

SIRTET by stray 2014-12-08T07:11:00

Cool tetromino game! Just fix the shape fitting algorithm that determines game over and you're golden!

Grow My Thing by ChronoDK 2015-05-11T14:58:00

41 inches and my dick is so long it falls on the floor.

RELIC by CptDustmite 2015-05-05T16:06:00

Cute game. I kept getting stuck on the platforms, had to wait a second to "stabilize" before I could jump again. Don't feel too bad, this happens in a lot of Unity games. High marks for humor and graphics from me.

BED✰HOGG by 01010111 2015-05-05T15:48:00

Wow, a 2 player fighting game with AI.. that's not something I've seen yet! Good job on that. Also, graphics and audio were well done. It's nice that it is in Flash so I can just run it in my browser. Good work!

Makeshift Defense by bvanschooten 2015-04-22T01:04:00

Interesting game.. kind of the opposite of Lemmings.

slappy the frog goes to town by rubna 2015-05-02T21:32:00

Cute game... though I would have preferred better control over the frog tongue. Good job!

Harvest Boom by andreimarks 2015-05-03T18:12:00

Ugh.. another name your own price download... LAME. When I see that, it immediately gets my grumpy criticism meter to 100%.

Throw Junk at Aliens by jwin 2015-04-22T05:37:00

Damn the web version crashed my OS X 10.9.5 system on Safari =(.

This Fart of Mine by rodrigomotta 2015-05-04T03:07:00

I couldn't stop laughing at the title, reminds me of 'Not without my Anus'. The game itself is like a parody of Indie/Mobile games. High humor score from me.

This Fart of Mine by rodrigomotta 2015-05-04T03:08:00

It's also Flappy Birdish.. just want to keep seeing how many I can get.

Banana Killer by syawqy 2015-04-22T00:57:00

A psychopath's game.

Polysseum - LD Edition by Skiddings 2015-04-22T00:53:00

Ugh Generally when I see a web link I think it is self hosted on a web site, not a downloadable file that must be opened.

Lucid by rxi 2015-05-02T18:24:00

I can't believe this is a freakin' compo entry... we might have a winner here! Plus you made this in Lua?! REPLs are nice aren't they? Really well done game!

Stone Fighter by Julgodis 2015-04-22T17:12:00

Another HTML5 game, nice! I think it is the best format for Ludum Dare, the game just run. The game is challenging and an interesting concept. The music is well done!

Salt 'Em Up by DaGamesta 2015-04-21T02:52:00

I guess I wasn't the only one with the idea of using salt on slugs =).

Crump Rush by OnlySlightly 2015-04-21T02:59:00

Freakin' Awesome game dude! Had a blast playing this entry.

Unconventional Universal Remote by Mekuri 2015-04-22T01:09:00

Support this game.. really? Asking for money on the Web version is just plain tacky. Also, the mouse look moves way too fast.

Bond by Cheshyr 2015-04-22T00:45:00

Cool game mechanic. A very interesting puzzle game, it kind of reminded me of Portal with the special surfaces that reacted to your "weapon". Excellent job!

Truly magical cat by Yozz 2015-05-10T18:03:00

I like the simple, yet very effective graphics. High marks for me on that. The thing I didn't like was that I had to restart the game because my characters got stuck. I also wish I could have just pushed a key through the dialogue. The graphics are what makes it really shine. The audio was also simple, yet effective. Good job.

The morning type by Liam :D 2015-04-22T17:28:00

This was an interesting game. I could see something like this being used to learn a language wit pictures of the items going along with them. Reminds me of the old typing tutors.

Planet Cleaner by hypothete 2015-05-07T16:07:00

y u no WASD?

Space Deuce by tiagosr 2015-04-22T18:14:00

High marks for humor and theme from me. Am I missing something, you elected to be judged in audio but I don't remember hearing anything. This is basically a humorous Space Harrier. I think it would have been better if there was an infinite amount of enemies and you kept track of how many you defeated. That could have been a way to get a "highscore". It is also missing a game over restart cycle. Had you done those two things, you would have had a game. I know how this goes, I almost didn't have a restart cycle myself this year.

Lisa vs. the Tornado by Wertle 2015-04-23T00:11:00

Twine is a really nice tool, not just for game development.

In Air by SleepyStudios 2015-04-25T17:37:00

Game crashes and is unplayable on my Mac (OSX 10.9.5)

Velo-City by TeamEagle 2015-05-05T00:49:00

This is one of those games where you paid attention to detail. Just being able to quit the game with the escape button is something a lot of Unity games lack! I like how you have a leader board with this game. I like how the columns are built up out of triangles right before your eyes. Though maybe not the most impressive graphically in terms of textures, you did a great job building the scene with just columns. Nicely done!

Space Boy by Hyoga-3D 2015-04-22T17:33:00

Very active game. You did a good job putting it together this "Robotron" game.

Snow story by chabuduo 2015-05-02T05:49:00

A little too "christmassy" for a Spring Ludum Dare. But hey at least it's a HTML5 game that plays!

Stupid Bird by Orava 2015-04-22T23:50:00

Poor bird.

The Murderers of Originality by IamAcoconut 2015-04-22T01:28:00

Pretty hilarious game! Every time the game started talking I was like "shut up kid!" Great entry, high marks from me.

Pipselwars by grozamorei 2015-04-22T23:48:00

When I zoom out it makes the game freeze momentarily in Chrome on Mac OS X 10.9.5. It looks an interactive Conway Game of Life. I also had to reload the page a couple of times to get the game to actually load. I like that you made a web sockets game though!

Square Sprint by jackrugile 2015-04-26T04:49:00

Wow this was a really great entry! Simple, easy to play and perfect sound effects. Very satisfying to take out lots of blocks at one time, sounds like a gun shot. Whats awesome about this entry is that it runs perfectly in Chrome, using just plain HTML5/JS! Great entry... can't believe this is a Compo entry!

Banana Nana by miau 2015-05-03T17:44:00

Holy crap.. a NES game.. written in assembler?!?!? This is and the game I saw written in Lua are the most impressive things I've seen so far. Good work!

Crowd Control by CriticalMammal 2015-04-22T05:19:00

I liked the atmosphere created with the audio. The audio you selected was perfect. I felt like I was in the middle of an uprising. The simple graphics still conveyed the sense of a crowd in the middle of a city. The overall mood was really well done. However, I wasn't really for sure what to do in the game other than just blast everyone away. I didn't feel like I had any control over the crowd other than just holding my mouse button down and trying to get rid of as many people as possible. The only way I could "win" the game was by killing everybody. Even when I thought I had it under control, they just kept coming back.I really wish I didn't *have* to kill everybody. It would have been nice to be able to focus on those who were actually throwing things, meting out punishment only as it was deserved and perhaps dissuading others. Nice effect having everyone gang up on the tank operator after it was destroyed. I liked that you tried to capture crowd dynamics and emotion. This game wouldn't have happened to have been inspired by Elias Canetti's "Crowds and Power" ?

Crowd Control by CriticalMammal 2015-04-22T18:43:00

I can't quite pin down why, but the game is reminiscent to me of "This War Of Mine". Perhaps it is because the game tries to be about more than just killing enemies.

KNIGHT by CScribes 2015-05-01T04:52:00

Seems a bit unfinished, I didn't see the life bar go down at all. Her movement was a bit cumbersome and slow. It also seemed that the cloned enemies were weaker than the originals, but I guess that is how you made it. It seems like a decent idea, but not for sure if it was executed the best.

Shoe Gun Girl by greytram 2015-04-22T18:18:00

I almost had a shoe-throwing game myself, except I was going to have the player throw them at politicians in a style reminiscent of the Shinobi bonus stage. Fits the theme well.

The Wand of FloatingSoaps by aroymart 2015-04-25T20:19:00

Very unique game. Simple music went very well with the game. Perfect mood.. very relaxing game to play. Having the shop component made me want to keep playing it. I could see this becoming a mobile app.

TeleFrag by HellBlazer 2015-04-21T06:24:00

I like the unique game mechanic of teleporting through enemies to kill them. What are you supposed to do in the computer room?

Hug Arena by Benjamin 2015-05-01T16:22:00

I like that I can just run this in the browser. I also like how easy it is to just restart the game.

Udom Nebdon by pLaw 2015-04-26T17:46:00

I like shaders that you used to give this a retro CGA/EGA look. Really well done game. It took a bit getting used to control the character, but I got used to it really quick. I really wish this game had a run button.

Run Giraffe Run by Hilger 2015-04-25T20:23:00

Oh man if he could have pee'd and poop'd this would have been HIGH humour ;). Cute game, glad you put something up!

UW by belstras 2015-04-22T18:25:00

When I see a "Web" link, I think of having an actual in-browser playable game. The link however goes to a repo that doesn't seem to have anything in it. I would say try to get something up that is usable as long as you only share code that was written within the 72 hours of the Jam. The penalty is that you miss out on some days of the judging so it seems fair to me. If I can't play it, I can't rate it!

Fight Rabbits Online by woodenrabbit 2015-04-22T23:37:00

Cool to see a networked game. Did you use WebRTC for the networking?

Shrimpworld by garat 2015-04-23T16:43:00

A voxel platformer is a nice idea. I don't like the fact that your character can't shoot while he is "recovering" from being hit. Good job!

Killer Moves by adamwoolridge 2015-04-23T16:37:00

As someone who was listening to dub step/chip tunes the whole time I was developing for Ludum Dare, I really liked the music. I take it audio voting is disabled because Virtual Riot didn't actually contribute music for this.

While the game was still fun to play, the gameplay has a few problems. The opposing character dancing interrupts the flow of the game without providing much information. Perhaps if you had each move he was doing along with the arrow combinations under him it would be helpful. I could see omitting this information as the game progresses, but it would be helpful to have initially. When my ego bar is completely empty, the game just continues (on Safari, OSX 10.9.5). It also didn't seem like I could defeat my opponents, when their ego bar ran out they just kept going, even after exploding on the floor. It would be helpful to have description of the game that includes says something alone the lines of "Perform all of the moves before the red bar fills up!". I almost rated this game poorly for fun factor before I read The4thCircle's comment because I didn't see the correlation. If there had been a "Game Over" and a way to defeat my opponent, this would have been the most fun game I've played so far.

You nailed the mood absolutely perfectly and the graphics are great. Good job!

Killer Moves by adamwoolridge 2015-04-25T21:02:00

Also can you please share with other people the secret to not having a Unity Web Player game with 3d graphics not crash on Macs. ;)

Cut! by HighQuality 2015-04-26T18:22:00

Really different kind of game! Impressive that you used your own engine and entered this into the compo. I love playing games like these.

Gravity Blade by Double Zero One Zero 2015-04-21T06:38:00

Cool Idea. Did you try http://doesmybrowsersupportwebgl.com/ and making sure it doesn't say "Nay" for the people who can't get it to work on their system?

carena by TomBoogaart 2015-05-03T19:18:00

This game is pretty hilarious. Nicely done.

Space Bug by vicious_br 2015-04-22T17:41:00

Fun game! I also enjoyed the electronica music. I also appreciate the fact it is a HTML5 game. The enemies with the walking power-ups remind of Blubba from Bubble Bobble.

Nögg Saber by Shivur 2015-05-01T04:46:00

Nice game after I got used to the characters speed and height jump. Big complaint was that I had to take my hands off the keyboard and click "Start Game". Should have just made the game restart with any key hit. I also don't like using the 1 key as attack, it would have been better if it was z,x, shift or ctrl.

Super Worm Fanning by ForeignGuyMike 2015-05-02T19:13:00

Very different kind of game. What made you think of keeping warms off of a cloud? hah!

Shadows by Jaloko 2015-05-01T05:02:00

Decent game, like that you used pure WebGL/Javascript. There is another similar game I've played where you have a sphere of light that helps you out to solve puzzles. Unfortunately, I can't see far enough back in my history to tell you which game it is!

AntiCon by micahcowan 2015-04-21T06:34:00

Another pure HTML5/Javascript game, nice!

Love Bomb by Andrew Quartermain 2015-04-25T17:41:00

Interesting idea with the artwork, but needs a lot of gameplay work. Doesn't seem to be much of a game here.

Soulstealer by SilentNight 2015-05-05T17:09:00

Cool game, glad it was my 282th (aka 10% of all entrants)! At first it seemed a bit hard, but I "beat" it. Was the Mandrake supposed to be on a timer? High marks from me, good job!

Fencing in Wonderland by 6DownStudios 2015-04-26T05:21:00

My flamingo's head came off and kept attacking. Then my opponents flamingo became a freebird on it's own. An already absurd game became completely possessed! Freakin' hilarious.

Frazzle Dazzle by hexdie 2015-05-08T23:51:00

Good game.. high marks from me. It is funny how there is another game where you use air as a weapon and to hover.. X-11. Guess the idea is just something that's "in the air".

Stoned Scarecrow by gillenew 2015-05-02T23:08:00

Great graphics.

Gun Gun Evolution by Indiestry 2015-05-02T17:47:00

This game just gets more and more ridiculous as it goes on! I played the compo version, so I imagine you fixed the bugs with enemies being generated outside of the dungeon as well as your character? High fun factor from me, but pretty far from the theme. The graphics were also very humorous.

Slug Fest by jmborden 2015-04-21T06:54:00

@goadrich That's a hidden feature I left in because hey why not? You can also zoom in and out with the mouse wheel. BTW, It took my non-gamer wife about 10 tries before she mastered it =).

@micahcowan It is a sea of imperative OO code with a few islands of pure functions (paraphrasing Erik Meijer). It was a lot easier to manage my objects in Clojurescript than in pure Javascript. It is also easier to read and only about 800 lines of Clojurescript compared to my much simpler previous game at about 1100 lines of Javascript.

Slug Fest by jmborden 2015-04-22T01:14:00

@Idds I wish it was longer too. I'm just glad I had an actual game.. I almost didn't!

Slug Fest by jmborden 2015-04-22T04:48:00

@CriticalMammal Thanks for taking time to leave so much feedback.. it is appreciated. Adding audio to my games is on the list. I have a technical problem with this that I need to figure out a way to have browsers properly cache sound files. I know it can be done, just haven't figured it out yet.

Slug Fest by jmborden 2015-04-25T20:52:00

@PushmePullyu It needs lots more levels =). I had an idea to make it more of a Puzzle/Action game where you can create salt paths the slugs can't cross, but they dissolve over time. The slugs would be able to create slime paths that you couldn't cross.

Slug Fest by jmborden 2015-04-26T17:20:00

@superpokeunicorn Umm... thanks for the reminder dude?

Slug Fest by jmborden 2015-04-27T16:16:00

@Plustech

|I wish there was a tutorial screen or something similar, had trouble even though the controls were described on the description. (I know it was my bad, but I dont think Im the only one hoping for a tutorial in game)

Actually, if you have problem figuring out how to play the game, it's my bad not yours. Games should be something easy to fall into and start playing without reading instruction manuals.

In game tutorials was a lesson I learned this time seeing many other games that had stuff written directly in the beginning of their games.. such a simple idea can dramatically improve playability. The more playable a game is, the more people will play it!

Slug Fest by jmborden 2015-05-06T04:50:00

@madflame991 As you've seen, Clojure doesn't get rid of mutability. It just makes it very explicit where you are using it. Being a fellow Clojurian, I would love to game jam with you sometime!

Slug Fest by jmborden 2015-05-08T01:07:00

@PapyPilgrim Thanks for the feedback. I agree, I should have made some kind of slug reaction to let the user know that the slugs were being salted. Thanks for playing it till the very short end!

Ob3se by ghostonline 2015-04-25T17:36:00

Decent game, it works and I can play it in my browser no problem. Not my kind of game, but my life would love it! Nice to see another Inkscape user =).

Love is in the air by BabaJaga 2015-04-25T17:26:00

Nice game overall. The WASD/Arrow controls just didn't work very well for the orthographic projection. It was a good thing there was unlimited ammo because it took me multiple trial-and-error shots to hit all but the closest enemies.

From a technical standpoint, the libGDX web player was much better than the Unity player and it ran in Chrome. That says a lot considering Unity is a commercial product and libGDX is open source!

Good job!

GLOV3.1 by flummox3d 2015-05-02T19:25:00

What an interesting take on Sokoban. Normally a game which lets you shoot would be not be considered to be using an unconventional weapon... however in sokoban it is! Especially the way you pulled it off.

Glatto Boy by hellforge 2015-05-03T02:42:00

Really nice world, I especially like the checkpoints. The weapon was "Kirbyesque". I had a problem where sometimes when I would land on the platforms, I would get stuck in the middle of one. I had to jump to get back on the surface. This really screwed the timing for moving platform jumps and made the platforms near the Saturn more frustrating than they should have been. Simple music went well with the game. I really wanted to give this game higher ratings but just couldn't give 5/5's due to the poor controls.

Trees vs Zombies by sathorn 2015-04-23T17:13:00

Using trees on your enemies is unconventional!

Starting game play in this game was not intuitive. It wasn't obvious to me that you needed to hover the mouse on the tree in order to chop it down. I spent a couple of minutes walking up to trees and clicking and saying "Why won't the tree freakin' fall!" The timer mechanic was also clunky. It would have been better to just say "WASD to move, hover your mouse over the trees and aim the direction of their fall. Left click to chop the tree down." After you chopped down your first tree, the zombies would come. Boom, simple. I don't like having to restart the game to re-read the directions in order to figure out how to play the game.

Nice to see another game written in pure HTML5/JS. So much easier to just play in the browser.

Why is it such a huge file? Crashes on my Mac!

Lumber Jacques by gelisam 2015-05-03T02:05:00

I liked the music and found this to be a very humorous game.

Hive Mind by narve 2015-04-25T21:59:00

Keys don't seem to work.

Crazy Farmer by guigrillo13 2015-04-25T19:39:00

Whenever my shot hits the pig, the game freezes on my Mac (OSX 10.5.9). =(

Sticks and Stones by adsilcott 2015-04-22T00:05:00

Am I missing something? On the web version nothing happens when I get hit by the words.

Maniac killing zombies with shoes! by vitail924 2015-05-03T02:44:00

Other than the fact that you called it a shoe, your weapon is for all intent and purpose a gun.

Pocket Squad by Donpastor 2015-05-07T17:05:00

Music on gameover is incredibly loud on my Mac in Chrome.

Angry Beavers by PixelStuff 2015-04-26T18:36:00

Where is the restart cycle? I could only play one game in Windows.

Ninja Swapper by Plustech 2015-04-26T18:05:00

"NinjaSwapperWindows.zip is malicious, and chrome has blocked it". Kind of a nasty message I get on Windows. Only saw it with this game.

The Song of Aria by sydan 2015-04-25T17:11:00

Well done! If you have to wait to sing, there should be some kind of indicator that lets you know when you can sing again (if there was, it wasn't obvious to me). There should have been some other game play mechanic other than hurting yourself every time you sing to destroy demons. I should be able to get through a game without taking a single hit of damage without relying on bandages to increase my life. Other than that, high marks from me. It was pretty fun to play all the way to the finish! Even more impressive that this is a Compo entry!

Red Scarf by brotherlu 2015-05-04T02:31:00

You really should have this hosted somewhere. "Web" links are meant for games that are actually hosted, not direct links to files containing HTML. No browser can run it from a local disk because phaser is using cross origin requests. For example, the error in Chrome: XMLHttpRequest cannot load file:///Users/james/Downloads/LD/assets/AlGard.fnt. Cross origin requests are only supported for protocol schemes: http, data, chrome, chrome-extension, https, chrome-extension-resource.

Wok Quest! by ogrepixel 2015-05-03T18:28:00

Fun, interesting game. The enemies are kind of pushovers though. Oh well, still had fun playing this game through to the end! High marks from me!

The Revenge Of The Sea by lunke 2015-04-21T06:15:00

So this is the second salt and slugs game I've seen. That makes at least three (including mine!). I realllly wanted to play this, but unfortunately it is not running on my Mac =(.

Quality Television by crazya 2015-05-02T03:34:00

wtf did I just play? MegaZeux.. giving your games that modern 1994 feel.

X-11 "Gust Gunner" by cowboycolor 2015-05-03T01:54:00

Asking for donations for a Ludum Dare entry is LAME. I had a problem where I would get stuck inside of the platform near the first big jump. I also don't like the fact that the game is full screen with no way to quit (at least not that I could discern). Of course, I still have to give it a good rating because it's a lot better than 90% of what I've played so far and certainly better than my entry.

X-11 "Gust Gunner" by cowboycolor 2015-05-08T04:20:00

One game I kept coming back till until I beat it! Good job on this game.

UnCUMventional Weapon by Caio Varalta 2015-05-08T16:50:00

Nobody has their triggers set off where the point of the game is to kill as many humans as possible with a clearly psychopathic protagonist. But make one game where the point is to hunt down your ex to kill her with a dildo and everyone loses their minds.

Braids by luizgama 2015-05-02T05:53:00

Another great Construct 2 game.Though I didn't see the difference between the brush, pot and hair dryer except the time it takes to recharge them. Cute game, well done!

Jeremy Johnston by jeremypj 2015-05-02T18:12:00

You really need a better mechanic than refreshing the page to restart. What I do is have an init() function and two functions which call requestAnimationFrame() on themselves, gameloop() and gamover(). On startup, init() resets the world and calls requestAnimationFrame() on gameloop(). If the gameover condition occurs (e.g. a saw hits your character) in gameloop() it calls gameover(), otherwise gameloop() calls requestAnimationFrame() on itself. The gameover() loop calls itself until the restart condition is met (such as hitting a space bar) and then calls init() to restart the cycle.

There is another issue where the game is creating tons of div elements in the page structure in Chrome. No sure what that is about. It might be causing the lag huo-cuo is mentioning.

Like Liam said, you should also host this somewhere. That's the beauty of HTML5 games, they can be run right in the browser!

The game itself isn't bad, but paint is a pretty old "weapon". There was an old arcade game called "Make Trax" where you had to paint the entire board in a maze game reminiscent of Pac-Man. Also check out Splatoon, an upcoming game from Nintendo on the Wii-U.

Nice entry, glad to see someone else making HTML/JS games with Three.js.

The Exterminators by Jigosystems 2015-04-25T20:39:00

You do realize the point of Ludum Dare is to focus your energy so you can complete ONE project?

Captain fig and the cutlery pirates by theace63 2015-04-22T17:50:00

To me, Web link means that you can play it in the browser directly from the link, not a link to a PC .exe.

Scream(But not too much) by Embalaje 2015-05-04T02:51:00

Opening is way too long and the sound is way too loud. Respect the player!

RocketStep by gaugepunk 2015-04-26T18:33:00

I like the concept of this game and it was pretty well executed. I had a problem where the character wasn't restrained to the arena. I could just keep running forever it seemed.

Play Your Doom by Bendev 2015-04-25T22:29:00

Windows version didn't run for me in Virtual box. Couldn't play the W note on the Mac Web unity version. There is a similar game called "Song of Aria" about a girl in a dungeon who sings to vanquish enemies.

salt by lody 2015-04-26T05:15:00

Another salt/slugs/snail game. This makes it the fifth I've seen so far, including mine. Oh well, at least we're not in the fart game club =).

BIO FIGHT! by bror_charlie 2015-05-02T21:37:00

Nice game. Construct 2 >>> Unity by far! I especially liked the audio.

A conventional Day by ConventionalDay 2015-04-22T00:26:00

Wow that land mine comes out of nowhere! Sort of like real land mines I guess? I really liked the music and graphics. The collision detection with the environment was a little too accurate...but hey it's Ludum Dare! Good work overall... high marks from me!

Zeldish by spike.house.games 2015-04-26T03:38:00

Perhaps if you had implemented the play mechanic in a different world that made more sense to the game instead of just appealing to Nostalgia, it would have been a better game.

Hot Air Balloon vs Seagull by jumpalottahigh 2015-04-22T17:58:00

"Get Rekt Son" is an accurate description as soon after I saw the message, the whole player crashed in Safari on OSX 10.9.5. In all fairness, this wasn't the only Unity game that crashed my Mac.

Starfall by IYang 2015-04-22T00:16:00

I don't know if I would call this a "Web" game because the .swf file is not being hosted in such a way that it can be opened in the browser. FYI, When I click on a web game, I expect to be able to open it and play it directly in my browser from the link. I would suggest calling it a "downloadable flash" game and giving people instructions that they must download the file and open it in their browser on their own machine. Other than that, pretty decent work with the graphics and music, two categories you don't have open for voting unfortunately :P

Taggit! by jfraser 2015-05-03T02:12:00

Thought the idea was good, but I think it would have been much better with a WASD/Space control scheme than a follow-the-mouse click. I thought the music went with it really well though. I also think it should have had a larger screen size.

the name of the game is grab by fserb 2015-05-07T16:57:00

Well done leaderboard.

A Good Tunnel Is Hard To Dig by Draknek 2015-04-25T20:47:00

Teed Off by sanojian 2015-05-01T04:41:00

Cool idea for a game, very different kind of game. Fits the theme well, had nice graphics, great audio and was fun to play! Well done!

Math Mania! by SuperPokeunicorn 2015-04-26T04:34:00

What no trig functions? Oh well I can just use a Taylor series expansion to get it. Oh wait I can't... Equations are limited to ten characters?! Ok at least I have all of my equations set up now... nope sorry no game for you I crashed.

Thank you all for the feedback, I can't believe people are already finding this game!

Hassan is a brilliant musician, producer, audio engineer and digital artist. I am happy to see that you all enjoy his music and sound effects!

@veralos - I would appreciate any feedback to better explain gameplay. The original Q*bert used interlude animations for exposition. Hard to top that in the time allotted, but I would appreciate any kind of supplementary text that you think would help players. Thanks!
