Hungry Squishy Panic by domrein 2013-08-26T04:54:00
Doesn't seem to load on Firefox (20.0). Might want to mention compatibility somewhere.

Played on Firefox so the sounds didn't work.
@everyone: thanks for the comments so far, I'm glad that I've succeeded in the visual department.
@ethankennerly: That would be the next step indeed, it's definitely lacking in the actual gameplay side. But as mentioned in the description, I've been wanting to do a style/feel experiment for a while now, since I've already done several feature-complex games during several jams this summer.
To everyone who mentioned audio: I totally agree, it's just that I'm no good with sounds so I decided to leave it mute.
To everyone who mentioned animations: There are none. Other than the main menu, everything is drawn via code.
To everyone in general: Thanks for the comments again, glad to see that I did indeed succeed in the visual department.
First 5* in Theme from me, it's perfect.
@snapman Cuts can be made along any line techwise, but I chose to make it random for reasons that never became relevant because it's unfinished.
Looks pretty and has great mood. Gameplay could use a biit more.
Finished the game! Great level design combined with all the different powerups.
Sounds could've been a bit more subtle in the long run, ended up turning the volume down a bit because I felt like they were pounding a bit.
I also managed to get stuck in a death state somehow, where I could still move, but my character was invisible (reseted to normal once I died again). The ground particles made the game playable like that, and I have to admit I kind of liked it in a weird masochistic way.
Curious seeing some of the browser comments. Some say Chrome was slow, some FF.
Personally FF was almost unplayably jaggy at parts, chrome worked alright.
The dropbox is just prompting to download a html file. You need to put it in the public folder for it to actually work.
Very impressive and polished for 72h. Full stars all around.
Encountered a couple animation and UI bugs, but those can be ironed out post-jam I suppose.
- Sometimes the bean animation would not stop playing, ever.
- Diplomacy counter thing would not hide, blocking all clicks effectively ending the game(, and the whirring calculating sound would loop as well.)
@petey @Blobo I've added a walkthrough spoiler section that should cover all your needs.
@mokujin working fine here on latest Chrome. It may take a bit to load since it's loading in dropbox. (Also make sure you don't start the game muted.)
@The4thCircle Thanks, it should be fixed now. Restarting wasn't clearing a flag properly so it caused the dialogue to mess up.
If anyone can give me more details on the ground sticking bug, you know where to find me.
Wish I could command them a bit more, especially in the placement department, but good stuff nevertheless.
They seemed to like to chill together in the middle of an area (in second level especially) instead of actually guarding the barricades.
Looks great and plays great. Couldn't win it though.
Killed all the rats a few times, never got a win screen of any kind.
Pretty much can't walk while shooting because the dude keeps colliding with the water and rising upwards because physics.
It got stuck quite a few times but I definitely liked the gameplay I was able to see, the lenses work great.
Mute button would be greatly appreciated. It's suuuper loud.
Great gameplay. Love the low res look.
Got stuck without being able to draw several times.
P.S. Pinks spawn way too early and are crazy op.
Another vote for maybe toning down the last level's effect. It's super distracting and doesn't really add much.
Simple but works. Upgrades always hook me.
The Web link is just leading to a download of the html file. You'll want to put it in your Dropbox' public folder to make it accessible, or use another host.
15/15!
Looks, sounds, and feels good.
Double jumping was sometimes a bit dodgy, but other than that no issues.
Great level design up until the four ball part which got stuck more often than not, or caused the balls to fly off every which way.
If you hold LMB you can drag a drone around and abuse the increased(/infinite) speed to guide the cows at will.
Can't move, jump, turn, or reset.
Only shooting bubbles towards the right works.
Looks nice, not exactly the most skill based.
The initial RNG placement seems to be all that matters, and you just click anywhere and either win or don't.
Html files only work in the dropbox Public folder, not when shared like this.
