A game in 2 hours. I didn't enjoy it very much, but it gets a message across, I guess: don't get hangovers when doing LD?

A game in 2 hours. I didn't enjoy it very much, but it gets a message across, I guess: don't get hangovers when doing LD?
The Linux version IS the Windows version it seems! (I'm on Linux and was surprised by an 'game.exe' without a Linux executable) So if you're on Windows, just download from the 'Linux' link.
Looks simple but pretty (which is good). I first didn't know I could go offscreen. I made a club, but didn't really know what to do with it, I was just ferociously looking for berries!... but died nonetheless :P
Haha, I liked that I died of depression playing minecraft too much.
Nice graphics indeed. The hit detection/perspective was annoying sometimes, but it still was very fun to play and get the kitty. Also props on the Linux build.
Yay! Another HTML5 game :D It plays very smoothly, very nicely done. Not collecting stars was also more fun imo, though they were needed to get to the next level. I'd also rather like a time-attack mode where the stars don't matter to keep the flow/smooth gameplay going.
Oh, looked through some of the code. Very efficient approach on using SVG and parseLevel, I might borrow that techinque one day. Keeps you from developing a leveleditor :|
Is this game compiled in x64 by any chance? I'm running Windows 7 32-bit, but upon running 'run me.exe' I get: 'This version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running.'
@mildmojo, javascript performed better than I had expected, so I was surprised about the fps the game could run at.
I've looked into type-ahead and found it in firefox, but there doesn't seem to be a fix for me to do (return false or true doesn't work and any functions I search for online also will not work). There do seem to be other people suffering from this problem too. I guess the web isn't yet fully supporting games yet ;).
@increpare, the 'prizes' are only for the explorers among us...
@ladron, yes, the physics aren't the best. I guess you fell through the room to another non-existing one. I'll see whether I can reproduce it.
It's crashing for me each time I see the intro :( (when the SPACE-thing lands on the mars-like-planet).
Cool concept and good looks (especially the car). Like you said, the game itself seemed too easy for me, but overal very nice done.
Cool, another HTML5 game, it's great to see more of them, though I didn't really got too far into the game I think.
I couldn't hold off the zombies, so I swam away, that however also didn't go well :P.
It's funny how the zooming somehow 'wowed' me. This game has very interesting mechanics, it took me a while for me to figure them out, but once I got it, it was a big 'aah, tiny world!'-moment for me ;)
Hm, I think I'm missing something. I get a page with 'Team One' and a bunch of names and seemingly no game?
Sorry! Ignore my last comment, I didn't have plugins on! The portals are a very nice mechanic, it would be nice if it was somehow visible where a portal would take you. I liked the music for the time I was playing, but I can see how people can get annoyed by the kindof shortish loop.
Nicely done. This game is quite hard, though I've finished all but the 2 on the upper-left, those were a bit too much :P.
Awesome! I had a very similar idea for my game (jumping from mini-planet to mini-planet), but with a car instead of a astronaut. Being crushed is a cool mechanic too. Very nicely done :D
Somehow the music/sound didn't work under Firefox, I couldn't figure out exactly why. In Chrome it works quite nice though ;). Fun game.
This world isn't tiny for 48h... it seems huge! GJ, it was very enjoyable and has nice graphics too.
Haha, I'll make sure to put in an option to choose your skin if I work on this further.
@haslettj, yes I totally see what you mean. A truck might not be the best way to fit the mechanics... cockroach would be even weirder imo, but might have fitted the mechanics better.
@oldtopman, :D the music that I wanted to use was http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/478099 ... but I didn't have time (nor skills) to make something alike myself.
Oh, Firefox support is also fixed, which caused the crash at loading.
@Hazard, Thanks! Earlier version used arrows to control braking and direction, but I caught myself being too lazy to actually use them... hopefully it won't piss off too many people, I'm usually skeptical about one-button-games too.
If anyone has a suggestion on how to do ukulele without a ukulele, please post. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to making music :P
@jplur,@mneubrand, thanks!
@TyrusPeace, I might experiment with other jumping mechanics to make a better game out of it. I'm not sure yet how the truck-graphic can be modified to make a 90-degree angle jump upwards more obvious :P, though I agree, it isn't intuitive with the current truck.
Wow, lots of comments, thanks you all for playing and input.
@FireSlash, I first imagined the 'planets' to be amoeba/cells which did not collide but bigger ones eating smaller ones ala Osmos. This was however even more WTF, so I went for colliding planets.
@gavin5564, indeed, those 'segmented' monsters are a blast to code with often cool results.
@Hume, yes, I really need to make the difficulty more progressive. The pre and post-beer music would be awesome :D Thanks for the suggestions!
Thanks for all the comments. I've worked on the game some more to include some of the suggestions. The new version has:
- forward jumping (instead of upward)
- slower driving speed (so you don't miss your jumps)
- shop cannot be eaten by worm anymore
- several fixes, like more robust preloading
I killed everyone except a farmer. Then I removed ground to let the fish free from its pool. Had a good laugh, fun game, but not obvious what to do.
Hmm, somehow opendns doesn't find your domain name (christophernight.net). Any idea?
Oh crap! Haha, awesome game! Changed to Google's dns server and it worked. You can see that opendns different IP addresses here: http://www.opendns.com/support/cache/
Anyway, the voiceover made the story fun to follow and it was fun to explore what new creatures each time. Very nicely done!
Enjoyed this game a lot, but became a bit too repetitive early. I especially liked the suprised-looking face of the character I started with! After evolving he became angry, but later suprised again, good times :P
Looks really good and was fun to play. The hero never made it, so I also tried to let him win. I guess it seem a bit on the easy side atm.
Interesting concept. It was fun for a while, but the stiff controls were kind of annoying at times.
Overall very polished game, especially for a first time!
Such a simple concept, but really fun to play. It's fun to learn how the system works (it wasn't obvious for me at first). One minor nit-pick: I am color-blind, so I could hardly distinguish the green from the yellow keys. No problem though, took me a while to figure that out :P
Very fun game. I managed to stay alive and beat the 'boss' :D. Blaster battery ftw.
One suggestion though: also bind Z or X to shooting. Many people (including me) cannot press space+up+right, even though space+up+left works fine. I guess it's a PS/2 limitation. Z doesn't have that problem.
I tried the linux version on ArchLinux 64bit, but after executing ./start.sh no window is brought up, even though I see the Egocell process is running. It also doesn't work when I use allegro from the repository. I'm not sure what the problem is...
Works without problems here, though it's hard to know what exactly to do in the game. When to give food and such.
Awesome game! One of the best I've found so far. This octopus is pretty badass.
I think I'm stuck. I managed to get the zapper and 2 batteries (one next to the zapper, one at the first screen) and went to the room with the sword, used the zapper there and I see that the wall on the right is destroyed, but that isn't the case for the wall on the left in the first screen. I wasn't sure whether I was missing something or whether this is a bug?
Apart from that, nice to see another html5 game and fun to explore what has happened after 'zapping'.
Good game! I created a whole bunch of people before I figured out that newer people were better. They were killed fast though, so the overpopulation quickly resolved itself :P.
Worked fine here (ArchLinux x86_64). This is a fun take on the big bad wolf. I only found one of the endings.
You should rename Bomb.png to bomb.png and the folder Menu to menu. Otherwise the game didn't run on Linux.
Apart from that, I liked that the robot had an AK on mars. Fun to play and catchy music, though the upgrades were really expensive!
Awesome game! Reminds me of kirby in a sense, but being able to have multiple powers is even better.
The story made me laugh, the ending too. My score was over 9000. Short and unfinished, but funny.
Here are some fun creatures I've found during development:
Big: http://pastebin.com/E6SLvaGr
Wheel: http://pastebin.com/0qC2VKiK
Walker: http://pastebin.com/5DPMZye5
Simple walker: http://pastebin.com/rhGRH2rU
@31eee384, Thanks for the helpful comments. I think the gravity is a bit too low and the velocity-damping too. I'll play a bit with these values the coming week.
With regards to the levels, yes, I tried to 'force' the player to change their design a few times, but for small creatures, yes, the last one is the only time you need to change it. Maybe bridging a small gap might force the player to create bigger creatures.
@My Milked Eek, yes I should fix that, escape also binds to muscle.
For anyone who can't figure out a level, I recorded a playthrough with one possible solution for each level: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq9deX4v7Ss
@Barry Adrams, what browser were you using? Have you tried Chrome or Firefox?
I will make the creature reset back to its original position when switching from controlmode to designmode. I hope I'll get some time coming week. Also been looking at highscores for the finish-times.
Works fine here (on Linux). Funny concept and it indeed gets annoying after a while (lvl3) :D. Good job ;)
Once you know how to play it is very doable. The problem is that the 'hero' gets stronger as time goes on. I didn't know how everything worked and the hero was already pumped before I could do anything about it.
Second try was much easier though. *Very* enjoyable!
Wonderful! The texts made me laugh, thanks!
Ha, so this is the place where presidents reside! Nicely done, I had a similar concept, but it didn't work out quite as full featured as this.
Linux link should be: http://klakwa.com/downloads/Twisted_Neighborhood_Linux.rar
VERY good idea! I feel like an ultra villain
For any other who had trouble playing: *TAP* spacebar rapidly, not holding it
Superbly polished little game. Love the music and sounds!
Fun game. I tumbled over quite a lot trying to go faster. Very funny concept.
Make sure to try it in Chrome. Firefox somehow has a different coordinate system, so the character isn't looking at the cursor.
I was expecting an adventure game, but it was more of a survival one? Not sure. In any case, enjoyed it a lot!
Hi again Cominu! That was an awesome game. The stealth aspect in this game is superb. Shooting may need to be toned down a bit, but this is an amazing achievement, especially for 72h. Please keep developing on this!
Nice concept! I too have no-one atm to play with, but it's a really good idea. Also the trippy interface with music somehow appeals to me :P.
I couldn't really figure out what to do at the dog :( I went back to the bar a few times like a true alcoholic.
Really good idea. I liked it initially, but at the level with the many colors (3rd screenshot) my colorblindness kicked in. I could hardly tell the difference between the purple and blue rectangles! Couldn't finish that level because of it, but still a great experience.
Simple but very polished game. Good idea!
Damn, so simple yet so awesome. One of the best I've seen yet. The initial mechanics reminded me a lot of one of the levels in Gumboy Crazy Adventure, but you expanded on it with traps and enemies to keep it fresh.
I couldn't work out the level where I started was surrounded by enemies and couldn't find a way out. Not sure what level though, the game is *that* minimalistic :P.
Very nicely done. This fits the theme in a beautiful way.
Awesome. I was also looking at incorporating Mondrian, but in the end couldn't make it work.
Since I needed to restart quite a few times, maybe put the restart button under the critic. I know I know, it makes the critic less annoying, which is the whole purpose!
Anyway, good idea.
I just fixed mouse issues on Firefox, but the end-goal is still invisible for me, so I'll leave the notice up for now ;).
Nice! I'm always worried multiplayer games will not work for Ludum, since not everyone will be online at the same time. None of that here, I see 3 other people, nice going!
Fun concept. I really liked the time reversal, it would be pretty cool if I could use that more, but often I died faster than I realized. Still had a good time. Thanks!
Hi again Manabreak! I like that the 10 seconds are implicit. It took a while for me to realize the door will only show up after a while (instead of appearing when walking somewhere). Had a good vibe and like liked the narration. I think rotating block a tad bit (only minimally) when falling would make the falling effect amazing (it did sometimes already). The window closing automatically at the end felt magical somehow :D.
Damn, nice job. *Really* polished and absolutely finished game! Even a cool boss battle!
One of the better uses of the theme imo. I like that it's an tactical game looking like an action game. Nice job!
Wow, awesome game!
Cool! Didn't know about #8bitmooc, that's pretty cool to do Ludum in. The game itself felt a bit too fast @ 60 fps, but still fun to play (60 fps made it challenging)
I had a laugh with this one. It's weird at first, but once I got the hang of it, it was quite fun!
Very enjoyable game. The 10 seconds timelimit really forces you to keep the pace and don't go looting everything before leaving a room. Really liked the voices too.
That was intense. It was a pretty hard game (couldn't get those aliens out of the escape pod), but I like the general idea and speed of it.
Hey thanks for playing all! Had a good time. The amount of players was due to me doing a burst of votes for other games (so this game would show up higher in the Play and Rate list). If I don't do that people will trickle in one-by-one and there would be no-one online.
This might sound kind-of lame, but best way to circumvent this is inviting some friends or posting on a livestream.
I hope to still add a bunch of minigames later and see if it can catch on.
First crash of the server after almost a full week running. The server doesn't cope well with low pings it seems, something to put on the todo for postcompo.
Dude, the music, those powerups, the screenshakes and the slowdowns... It makes this game so enjoyable! I have no idea why there is a basketball with a string and stars, knifes and other weird sharp things flying around, but I'm amazed how well this plays. Nice job.
This looks awesome. Nice going. The bouncing bullets were a bit confusing at first (why was I shot from behind??) but once I knew a few of those oddities, it was really fun.
I didn't notice at first that clones first had to go to the end and then destroy the cloners, but once I knew that it became a very interesting puzzle. Nice job on thinking up all the different kinds of puzzles with this mechanic!
Although sometimes quirky (the poles), this is a great game. Had a laugh shooting down those pirates on the island. Thanks!
You're evil! No dinner for me :'( Nice job on the theme though haha
Nicely packed game. The knifes were a good spin and it all fitted the theme quite well. Nice job on completing this game beginning to end.
Wow nice animations. Some parts of this game look very slick and polished. Even though it's a simple mechanic, I liked it a lot!
Haha, awesome job on the sound. It took a while to figure out what buttons to use (the tutorial uses a interesting, but not very readable font), but the mechanic is pretty cool and I did manage to shoot down some of the other ships. Changing gun direction was also funny when using stereo headphones. Very nicely made.
Such doge! wow.
Anyway, I really like these kind of drawed games. The game itself wasn't much, but it was a new experience for me. Thanks!
Fun puzzle game. Last level seemed too complex to comprehend at first, but after going through a second time it all made sense. Nicely executed.
Cool concept. I felt sad I couldn't retry a level right away, but that made it more interesting: you *need* to do well, so thinking more upfront.
Very good idea! I loved that controlling one is done with the hat (gives 'controlling one' a bit explination). The second/third level was a bit frustrating due to the AI killing themselves sometimes. Overall though the AI was pretty smart in that they could walk to the exit and (mostly) avoid pools/enemies, so that saved some time. Nice job.
Like others have said, simple but surprisingly fun!
I loved the concept and the simple graphics, though the sound of glass breaking began to ache after failing a lot ;)
Fun game! I liked how the dialogs were capitalized, as if the aliens were shouting to eachother :P. Most levels were solvable, only some just seemed impossible. Had a good time.
No-one online to play with :'( Multiplayer games are always good fun though, nice job on making it in 72h.
You should consider rating games in large batches so that your game bumps up to the front-page for a short while. That way you'll have some players simultaneously playing, instead of people trickling in one by one.
Very very nice game. Awesome concept and it fits the theme perfectly! There are so many possibilities with this mechanic and this game shows the basics with good humor.
First time playing this I missed a lot of things, since I didn't knew they were there (and me chaotically looking around what is meant). It would've be nice to have some more queues what comes where + randomized events. That said, still a great game!
Such a nice concept. It gets harder as you go as a result of the concept. It also looks and sounds pretty awesome. With the simple controls this could be a good mobile game too.
Ok, this was awesome. Great everything. Very *VERY* nicely done!
Also thanks for making this HTML5-enabled. There aren't many games that work under Linux, so this is always welcome. That said though, the tiles weren't aligning correctly. I expect this is some kind of bug in Construct or Chrome?
Dudebro, awesome game! Surfing felt really good (a bit like Ski or Die!) and the rock-paper-scissor was a nice minigame. Really nice job in 72h!
Like always, really good uplifting music. The synchronized music+gameplay made it especially awesome. It made for a really good mood through all 3 stages. The tutorialization (is that a word?) was nicely put together and the new mechanics kept keeping things interesting. 3 stages was a good length for me (were you planning on adding more mechanics too?)... Anyway, awesome game, very very good job on making it all fit together.
So simple, yet interesting experience and controls and perfect match with the theme. Also, those clouds... simple, efficient and look great (i'll probably use that technique in the future if you don't mind!).
This cracked me up. Awesome idea!
Saved this for later to continue playing (or rather restarting). This is an absolutely awesome game. The big rat was pretty cool already, so I'd like to see the ending... even if the controls make me crazy :P.
Well rounded game. Fun looking characters and fun to play. Too bad you didn't have time for sound/music (I had the same problem).
Simple but very well executed. The ambient sounds give it a great chill atmosphere and the graphics are nice and consistent.
God, that was an awesome experience. I really love how you combined music and visuals to show the progression. Slurping up the boxes was great too and (basically) a tutorial with a long boss-fight was a nice way to get the most bang (game) for your buck (time) in 48h.
One of the best I've seen yet.
Cool game. The controls especially felt really good and fun.
Nice level of polish and fun concept.
Very nice idea and execution! Perfect fit for the theme too.
Haha, the sounds made me chuckle. Cool that you had a boss! I wasn't sure sometimes why I died, but the overall experience was fun.
I love the ending. It made me smile.
It seemed random where the veggies/fruits were, but still I enjoyed it. Nice presentation! Grubs are nasty little buggers.
Too bad you didn't got any gameplay elements in it, but it was great fun. I flew to the moon!
Interesting concept. Cool to see a graph being used as a way of movement.
Nice take on the theme. Well rounded game and it looks nice, but would've been nice to see some representation of the workforce.
Wow, I didn't expect my game being rated this much! Was it posted somewhere?
Thanks for all the great comments!
I like the concept and it looks really nice. The start could've been handled better (the arm comes by rather quickly).
Simple, but well executed. I like how things ramp up slowly and once you go 'full circle' it'll become harder more quickly.
I like it. Simple but fun! Also catchy tune.
Cool concept! Nicely polished too. I really liked the simple, but effective art!
Score: 3057
Nice spin on Katamari! Also nicely executed, it looks good and it's fun to play.
I picked up flowers and vase, but couldn't figure out much else. I tried a lot with the table and yes, eating the flowers, but I couldn't progress. Some more clues would be nice to have ;)
Nice concept and it looks really polished. It's too bad you didn't have time for more levels, but this is already pretty impressive.
Really cool! I liked that you could see what parts were difficult and of course the reactions :D Very nicely done!
Hehe, I've left edit mode in... as well as the skip level button. I thought that couldn't hurt.
Yes, the gray cloudy background was unfortunate. I started with something complex and couldn't make things tileable, so I went with clouds. A simple black background with dots would've been much better in hindsight.
Drawing the background with zooming is somewhat annoying on canvas/html5. That's why I'm drawing images in a grid, it's slow, but usually does the job alright. I guess Safari doesn't handle that as efficiently as Chrome.
Really cool concept and scene transitions. I found the boss and after that 2 boss-killers, but couldn't find the last one. Controls felt good and the difficulty was (in the end) right for me (apart from the confusion about where I could find the last boss killer)
Very cool concept. It took me a while to figure to use all heads in the circuit, but it was fun to figure out. Nice reward too :D
Really good job on this one. It's a full polished fun game that looks good and stays engaging!
Really nicely done! I'm always bad at pointandclicks and that showed this time again. Took me a while to figure things out, but it's a really cool short story.
Oh no, my pineapple! Cool game :D I really liked that you only used rectangles for the game.
Wow, nice game. Progression was very good and there were parts that I didn't get the first time I played. Finished it the second time.
Looks really nice. Flinging the string around felt good and the effects when hitting and being hit were a nice touch.
Wow. Really cool concept. I'm not sure whether I like not controlling the ship directly, but this way feels a bit more like an tower defense game. Nicely done!
:D great job, a few good laughs!
Really impressive. Got me hooked for quite a while, but couldn't figure out a number of them, so thanks for the guide!
It amused me for a minute or so ;) It looks very nice for a first attempt. Hopefully good luck next time!
Awesome game! The balls of snow somehow looks amazing, as does the rest of the game. I love the little details like covering up the face when things get close. Really good entry!
Simple but fun and very well polished!
Best trickjump goes to @obskyr for this amazing quintuple backflip: http://obskyr.io/filer/ronebowmooz.gif
You are forgiven. Relax experience and overall weird (in a GOOD way!). I liked finding all the strange stuff like mountain opening in background and the 'enemies' twitching eyes. Nicely done!
A well rounded game. Nice progression, fun 'powers' and fitting with the theme. I didn't like the controls too much (arrows to turn), but it did the job.
Also thanks for exporting to HTML5/WebGL. Too many games aren't playable because the lack of it (I'm on Linux).
Fun game! Ended up with 72 people, the sexiest spot in the whole empire. Needless to say, I had a good laugh.
Simple but really nice game. It was somehow pretty hard (or at least it felt so), but exploiting the borders made it somewhat easier. Good entry!
Wow, high level of juiciness while still being really simple. I like that a lot. The fast count-down and die effects made me want to go faster. Nice job!
Sound effects and some fast-paced music would make this game (seem) much more action-packed I think even though it already is action-packed. In 48h isn't always enough time for that (I find that out every time I join :P).
Reminded me of Turtle graphics/superlogo. Cool to see it integrated into game-form while still easy to use!
Fun puzzle game with interesting mechanic.
Really nice looking game. The inverted mouse, camera and fighting felt a bit awkward, but it was still fun to avoid all enemies while still being able to progress.
I liked that the bullets were physical objects. I was a bit confused by the doors that seemed to be flickering. Still fun to figure things out though! Thanks.
Nice polished game that was fun to play! I died quite a lot in nasty situations though, so restarting all over for those times was a bit annoying.
I wish there was a way for online multiplayer games to work better on LD. You should probably queue a number of game-ratings and submit them all at once to get on the front-page for a good number of people for a short amount of time. More people will play the game with each other that way.
That said, nice looking game. I can imagine it being fun with multiple people, but was a bit boring on my own ;).
I really like the style and concept of this game. Simple and effective. The animation when you die is a nice example, simple but really nice looking.
Another awesome game. Nice job! It's really hard, but also satisfying to get the rhythm right with everything that's going on. Quickly changing weapons all the time (which is the goal of the game) makes it impossible (for me) to do it right, so I just ignored the score and shot enemies for while.
@Fonserbc, the protips helped a bunch. I didn't really realize some blocks were ice and that they were less sticky than normal blocks. I was stuck, but after I knew, it was pretty doable. The physics are a bit iffy.
I enjoyed it though! And I really like the concept. If you ever want to extend it, be sure to look at how Gish did their blob/sticky physics. I think it's quite fitting!
Holy crap, that's one quality entry! I really like the coherent style among all of the art/sound, it reminded me of BattleBlock Theater. Very nicely done!
Interesting mechanics. I didn't know for sure how to effectively use both tentacles, but it was a fun to flail them in the air.
Hey man! What a brilliant concept and game! Best concept ever :D
I loved the silly walk and the people screaming. They cracked me up! All the derpyness that I missed is here. Nice going!
Haha, I loved how you could recognize Cookie Monster by the way the sentences were build. Nicely polished too, gave me a good laugh.
Like always, awesome. Loved the music, loved the way it was incorporated and loved how original the minigames were. I still sucked at the game though :P
Nice controls. Feels good to fly around. I was stuck on one level (couldn't make it), but I wished there was a more open level where you could do tricks and stuff with the controls. Still though good game.
Cool game. I first thought the snake was going a tad slow, but then the difficulty ramped up and I was glad it wasn't going any faster. The music and visuals added to the mood. Nicely done on the double-theme too!
Good looking game. The controls were a bit iffy, but it was still enjoyable to complete the game!
Really fun game.
Wow! Nice game :D Controls feel good and it was fun to play. I only had a problem where Chrome would freeze every once in a while.
I think I ran into the same bug as CMLSC. Some squares were overlapping (as though they weren't actually part of the game) and some were connecting seemingly without a reason, but probably the tile was only shown in the wrong position.
I used the WebGL version on Chrome.
That said, fun game. The music added quite a lot too.
Wow, quality game! Looks good (in both shapes ;)) ) and had a good laugh.
Really nice game. The bashing through walls felt satisfying, although it wasn't always clear why I couldn't get through some walls. The combo system was also cool. Once you get that with speed things are easier (because of the draining energy) it'll keep you wanting to go faster.
Wow, simple concept while still very enjoyable. Thanks for the cool puzzle game :D
Loved the sounds! Managed to get 113 guards, it was getting a bit crazy :D
Really nice graphics and had a fun time playing. The controls felt a bit stiff, but the fox fully made up for that.
I hoped answers were submitted somehow online, could be fun to see all the answers people come up ;) I had a tendency not to adhere to the interviewers expectations :P
Haha wow, Blinry, I remembered that name vaguely. Found your Github profile, you worked on Gish as well! Awesome to come across a game of yours on LD!
Anyway, nice concept and narration. Had a good laugh and enjoyed the game. Took a while, I was surprised Mr Mouse didn't die on me.
Type:Rider is indeed similar. I mostly got inspiration from Nightsky.
It's hard to get multiplayer games right. Especially for Ludum. Big props on finishing it!
For multiplayer games you want to get as many people together at *1* time, otherwise reviewing will become impossible. You can influence this by doing a bunch of reviews of other games, but submit those reviews all at once. That way your game will stay at the top for a while. Stay in-game yourself as well during this time. (A chat would really help ;))
Apart from that, it seemed you use a different keyboard layout (AZERTY?). Controls were quite hard for me, as up was Z and down S, whereas I presumed it was W and S. Most people use qwerty on Ludum Dare, so it's best to be compatible with that.
Anyway, good luck!
You should use the Embed url from Itch! (Widget -> Embed game -> "Ludum dare? Just paste this link")
Reached level 6 with the lava. I couldn't make it much further. I couldn't easily predict when jumping would go high and when it would go lower. After picking up the triangle it seemed random? Not sure.
Apart from that, the game looks good! Had a fun time blasting through the levels before 6.
I love the looks of this game. Nice going on "Crypt of the GabenShifter" too. Awesome :D
However, I couldn't play. Could you create a WebGL export with Unity? I'd also recommend hosting on itch.io.
Wowwww good entry! The art-style is really looking nice. The game really fits the theme in all kinds of ways, specifically the intro :D. Great music too. ???
:( unicode isn't supported. I guess I'll use  then ;)
I really like the art-style. Simple and clean, but still looking good and functional. Falling off the edge felt a bit unpolished but the rest of the game was very nicely done.
Haha, had a fun time reading all the options. Having no goals was nice for a change, but it did feel me 'rewardless' at the end :P
Cool concept. The levels keeps slowly changing making it interesting to keep going. Fitting ambiance as well!
I got the elephant, but couldn't quite figure out what to do for the antilope. I guess the arrows do not make sense yet. I figured they should be chosen in the order that is shown, but with the glyphs replaced like the elephant room says. A bit like a safe, but had no indication whether I was doing that right. I guess it was the wrong way to go about things.
Still though had a good time trying different things to progress. Also tried to walk on the rooftops, but couldn't make it :P
Interesting concept. Got through the first level fairly well. I didn't read the description but it was fun to figure out what worked and what didn't. While doing so I saved the earth, yay!
No control issues here in fullscreen browser mode with one screen. Mouse locking would be nice though.
Apart from that, fun game. The axe swinging in particular felt good. I wasn't quite sure what to make of the enemies, but I thought of them as evil Aztec bunnies of some kind.
Wow really fun game. It seemed Dinomancer only had the power to destroy gas stations, but luckily all of his friends game along. Who know dinos could be spawned from mere oil. The game ended in pure chaos, nice!
Hey Blinry! Glad I ran into your game!
Really cool concept. It builds intuition for sailing, which I severely lacked. Quite packed in content and the progression felt good. Also nice going on using Wilhelm scream when my people died from the Kraken, it cracked me up. I liked the art as well, simple and effective.
It wasn't initially clear to me I would pick up people by using the anchor. Once I did use it it seemed obvious.
Also some indication when you're in range from someone to pick up would be nice.
Honestly, this could really be a full game. The art might be a bit too simple for that, but it actually isn't far off.
A tutorial level with an indication of the optimal way to move would be nice as well. Currently it's hard to move against the wind and forcing that makes the journey slow and boring. But once you know how to handle that (I don't know the terminology anymore) it all becomes much more enjoyable more quickly.
Best entry yet though!
Haha, this made me laugh. I love that you combined robotvacuums with cats. Too many cats indeed becomes worse :P I'm glad my vacuum navigates a bit more efficiently. Isn't it cute? vacuum - Copy.jpg Almost as cute as the cats in this game.
Good idea, graphics and sound!
@blinry We meet again! Thanks for trying my game. Yes, I was fiddling with properly drawing smooth lines in Unity, but gave up and went with segments. Lessons learned. Sounds are always a last priority for me I guess, hadn't time planned for it :(. Maybe next time.
Yes! A friend of mine was also reminded of Snakebird. I know the game, but haven't played it. Maybe I should. Thanks for the reminder :D
Thanks everyone for the lovely comments! The game indeed is a bit on the easy side and quite short. I haven't taken the full weekend for this game, but I like that it's a somewhat finished package despite of that. I again learned quite a bit about Unity's 2D features too: lessons for future entries.
Very nice style and looks. Especially the clouds and flowing water add quite a lot. I shaved some of the sheep and killed one or two in the process. Bought a few workers, but micromanaging it all became a bit of a burden.
... adding MagickaVoxel to toolbelt
Wow. I did not expect this to be such a great game. I really loved the way swarms moved and having (indirect) control where the swarm went. Reminded me a bit of Darwinia! <- which is very much a good thing!
Having a way to remove individual arrows would've made things a log easier, but still the game felt not frustrating and very enjoyable. Great job!
This looks quite nice. I tried shooting the red orb with bursts of bullets. Once I got the hang of it bullets started going everywhere. It's quite hard! Still had a good time.
Initially I didn't realize there was a healthbar because I ran in web and it was out-of-frame. Try using 'Minimal' WebGL template in Unity's WebGL Player Settings and set the right frame size in Itch.
I really liked the way enemies got stacked and you were fighting a wall of boxes :D
Haha. Summary: my art becomes very abstract. Interesting game. Fun to draw even though my paintings weren't being rated for quality (lucky me!).
Wow, this looks really nice. Couldn't make it at the boss tough! I gathered so much useless stuff! (Life-)lessons learned. Thanks!
Interesting concept. The first time I didn't really realize what was the goal/purpose, but once I got the hang of it I was stacking boxes and making them cram into that small white platform. The height where the mouse drags boxes was sometimes a bit annoying because I would drag one stacked box from the platform while dragging.
@mathemagician Thanks! It wasn't clear initially whether it should eat while falling, I think eventually we decided it should but didn't have time to fix it unfortunately :D
Yes, a friend showed me Snakebird. It wasn't inspired on Snakebird, but it ended up with a very similar mechanic. Still need to give that game a go.
Love the style of the game. The controls feel very fluent. The difficulty progresses in a nice gradual pace. Really great work!
Good looking turn based game. I'm not the biggest fan of turn based, but I do like the team-play that the game enables. Really well made, especially for 48h.
Haha, I liked this take on the theme. Nice work!
Wow awesome game! I love these kinds of games where I'm building a ship from scrap. Had a good time! Thanks!
Love the style of this game. Nicely done.
Pretty cool concept. I tried to get 20 stars, but it felt like I didn't get lucky enough. Had a good time playing in the sand though :D Thanks for making this!
Haha, nice idea. Played well. Fits the theme greatly. The jumping controls were a bit fiddly, but still had a good time. This should really be an addition to Fifa or something similar :P
