Easily my favorite game of the Jam. Outstanding ambiance, brilliant mechanics and puzzles, great soundtrack, just an overall awesome game! Well done!

Easily my favorite game of the Jam. Outstanding ambiance, brilliant mechanics and puzzles, great soundtrack, just an overall awesome game! Well done!
Gotta love some text adventure, miss the days of good old Monkey Island :monkey:
And thaat soundtrack was absolutely brilliant, so eerie and ambient, perfect for the game! Also loved the artwork, crazy to think that it was done in 2 days! Well done, brilliant accomplishment!
Loving the audio, graphics are also quite nice
Music is just astounding! I spent a good 2 hours composing my crap :sob: Super difficult tho. Well done!
Don't need to say much more than, it's just a really fun game. Absolutely love the music, the aesthetics are great too! The gameplay with the debt mechanic is just brilliant, it works perfectly with the theme, well done!:relaxed:
Nice game! Fits really well with the theme, awesome pixel art and audio too! Well done
Awesome game! One of the best I've played this Jam! Works really well with the theme
Funnily enough I had a similar idea at the start with my game but I decided I wanted more freedom of movement and cause more chaos as the game went on instead. Brilliant execution tho!
Super difficult but also super charming and fun! Love the art style and music too, a wonderful few minutes of fun right here
Super adorable game! Absolutely love the animations and the characters! Some music would be nice but besides that, ship it :joy: Well done!
When was having too much sushi a problem? D:
Controls need a bit more work but overall, really nice game!
Really nice game, adorable even. But like every game this Jam, holy crap is it difficult! I will say, given some practice you could get really good at it though, which makes it super fun. That said, I couldn't get past the 3rd one. Again, wonderful game, well done!
Press E if you're having issues with left click. It seems to want to drag click, should've fixed that but it just seems to be an issue with WebGL!
Thanks! Did you try shooting at the red thing? I thought it would be quite obvious with the health bar + the core being the only thing that reacts to bullets.
@FrozenCow Thanks a whole bunch! That's exactly what I needed. I've updated it now  cheers!
@kurupapuru The resolutions set were right but they needed a slight offset in itchio. I guess I was too tired to notice it :sob: Added alternative keys so you can play with the keyboard too! :tada: Thanks for letting me know.
@damoy Thanks for checking my game out! Cheers!
@imphenzia I've added fullscreen to the WebGL page now too! For Unity games, you build with the Default WebGL template and offset the resolution in itch.io  Thanks for the awesome feedback! I've also added the Windows build to the post.
@rob-white Quite a few people want this, patched it in now. :tada:
@shrekshao Yeah it worked out surprisingly well. Originally I was going to have all the bullets move towards the player when he moved. That turned out to be far too difficult, but it looked so awesome! :joy: But leaving the bullets alone just turned out to be far better gameplay!
@antti-haavikko Well done! Don't think many people can beat it, there's definitely a winning strategy in the game. There're some upgrades you want to avoid, others to reserve or only take a few.
Also, cheers about the audio, it seems fine on my headphones but it's near inaudible on other audio devices.
@toboggan Thanks a bunch for the feedback! I increased the audio levels quite a tad earlier but the soundtrack isn't that great. This is the second time I've ever composed a track; it's just not my forte! ๐
WASD and itch both seem like a good idea for tomorrow! Cheers! ๐
@toboggan Sorry for taking so long. Thanks for the code  I messed around with the pitch quite a bit but I've concluded the soundtrack isn't that brilliant to begin with so I'm just going to leave it be. I added the WASD for movement as well.
@jupiter-hadley Hey Jupi, hope you're well! Thanks for checking my game out! Hope we have you around the Uni for our next game jam! :smiley_cat:
@gruhh Hey thanks mate! I did notice most people didn't understand that they were supposed to attack the core and that would definitely alleviate the issue.
@cerno-b Thanks a million! :relaxed:
You've definitely got the strategy down, well done!
And I couldn't agree more, this is the 2nd time I've ever composed. It would have been more beneficial for me to focus on the ambience and build the mood but I spent a good 4 hours on it and just decided to call it done.
But thanks! Really glad you liked it!
@cerno-b Cheers mate, I'll definitely check it out! And same, music is the last thing I look into when the game is in a decent spot. In all honestly my composing just needs loads of practice!
We should've teamed up! What wonders we could have been accomplished! :innocent:
@marc-jones Thanks for the feedback Marc!
Yeah, there're definitely quite a few strategies to win, I prefer to get a single damage, let a few healths spawn whilst avoiding speed and go then ballistic on the core!
I really wanted to add more to the soundtrack but I just ran out of time, 4 hours of composing there for that awful mess! :joy: (My 2nd time ever composing.)
Wider perspective would be easy to add but I'm going to hold back on adding more to the game, I've made enough adjustments!
Bang on with the rays on the core! I didn't add a pointer in because, well I don't think I'd have had the time, and also I wanted the player to feel more immersed but then again, I had screen space health bars :confounded:
Cheers, thanks for playing! :innocent:
@piscythe Thanks a million! Health + Damage Is definitely my preferred strat and to win own your first attempt is actually amazing! Well done!
Yeah WebGL doesn't work very well with the control scheme but I've added quite a few alternatives. I definitely should've added controller support.
I know! People are definitely quite conflicted about that soundtrack :joy: But as someone who's only composed once before, I'm just glad it's not a complete disaster.:innocent:
@Anonymous It's available on the itch.io website, bottom of the page.
@kyle-pham There's definitely a winning strategy and it has to do with the upgrades. Every upgrade you pick up hiders you as much as it aids, so you have to find the right balance, it definitely makes the game a lot easier.
Cheers, thanks for playing!
@Anonymous I've made some minor changes, primarily to the controls & bug fixes. [Dev Log](https://flubz.itch.io/the-exalted/devlog/17279/change-log)
The original submission is available on [itch.io](https://flubz.itch.io/the-exalted). (bottom of the page) The video above also shows the original submitted version. Cheers!
Sorry, hope I haven't done anything wrong, it is my first LD
@crdmrn I'm surprised I didn't think of that until now, I've just added it in. :relaxed: But to be honest it feels like that just made the game harder. :joy:
@vija02 Thanks a ton!
Just noticed the bullets not going where they're supposed to, I added controller support earlier, I'm assuming that probably caused it
The overall feedback has been quite torn with the music but it's definitely the weakest point of the game and I couldn't agree more, an ambient soundtrack would have really killed it here but alas, I am no composer. :sob:
I've added controller options now as well, I'm not sure how to make the controls even more user friendly :sob:
From the Rules: > Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You canโt add new features, but if something broke or didnโt work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline. You are asked to highlight the changes you make in your submission (a short change log). You probably wont get a 2nd chance with some players, but at least it wont be a problem for future players.
@Anonymous If you have a look at the video or play the original submission. I haven't added any new features into the game. I've only removed bugs and made it more accessible and I've kept a [log of the changes](https://flubz.itch.io/the-exalted/devlog/17279/change-log), that said, if I have made a mistake, all I can do is apologize at this point and I am really sorry if that's the case.
**Edit** It's on the original version now, just in case. But again if you look at both versions, there is very little difference, just the controls and all the changes have been [dev logged](https://flubz.itch.io/the-exalted/devlog/17279/change-log).
@jadw1 Thanks a bunch! I've added controller support as well as wasd movement in the post-jam version if you'd like to check that out instead. :D
And will definitely do! Cheers! ^_^
@porcus-pie I'm sorry, I tried looking something up but I've got no clue. Maybe try updating Java? I'm quite clueless otherwise.
@secretpocketcat Hey, thanks. It's not too bad with the controller, I hope? And yeah making a twin stick bullet hell game on PC might not have been the best idea. :sob:
The art and the UI in particular are brilliant but the game is lacking overall, I'd say speed the game up a ton! Consider adding mechanics in like limited space to keep things a bit more interesting. Also a soundtrack would have been a nice addition too.
But for a 2nd Unity game, Well done!
Awesome game! Got 7 minutes, I'm pretty bad
It really sucks that you've made this amazing game but most people can't play it but for a 72 hour jam, to make a VR game in team of 2, I can't commend you enough, absolutely well done! Easily one of my most favorite games this jam! :relaxed:
I wish the rating system took stuff like this into consideration otherwise all we'd get are simple browser games just because they'll get more attention. But honestly, you gotta find the right Jam for VR
Don't feel too upset about it, this is an amazing accomplishment! Well done!
I love games of this genre. Your interpretation of the theme is brilliant, but I will say it needs some balancing having 3-4 squad mates is risky enough! Having anymore is just asking for trouble. Does the game have a winning strategy? The graphics are quite good, lovely animations and I do like the audio. Overall brilliant game, well done!
Managed to steal quite a bit, tried to make a run for it in the end and ended up falling off the map :joy: Nice game, really enjoyed it!
Most fun game I've played in this Jam +
Not a fan of Tetris, but this is by far the most fun game I've played this Jam.
Very well done!
Just came back to say, this is still my most game from the Jam!
Super fun! quite similar to my game as well  Firing that shotgun just feels so satisfying. :Kreygasm:
Gotta love Matrices, also the Graphics
Nice game, works brilliantly with the theme, great gameplay!
Reminds me a bit of Risk of Rain, love it!
I really love the idea, one of the best interpretations of the theme I've seen so far! If it had a few more levels it would absolutely brilliant  Well done
Awesome game, love the character and the music, absolutely brilliant! The theme idea is good but quite a few people have gone for something similar but I like how you can drop coins and the online scoreboard really adds to it. Other than that, it's fantastic!
Definitely innovative! Like the extra level of complexity that the debt mechanic adds, multitasking during something as intense as a bullet hell. Well done
The performance isn't brilliant, but it looks quite nice and the movement is a bit too sensitive. However, I do have to commend the confidence to make a 3D puzzle game in 72 hours and for that well done!
Super simple, yet so amazing and it works brilliantly with the theme, well done sir! The audio is a little bit repetitive and could have done with a simple soundtrack, but besides that, it's eggcellent!
I like the simplistic vector art style, super simple and clean!
I'm sorry, correct me if I'm wrong, but it isn't mentioned here that a majority of the game is a tutorial series by [Brackeys](https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=brackeys+tower+defense&oq=brackeys+tower&aqs=chrome.0.0j69i57j0.3070j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8). I know it's your first Ludum Dare, but you should at least mention them where you've used their scripts. Most of the art is wonderful and the core game has been redone substantially but you're usually expected to make a game from scratch, you can reuse code and assets but this might be going a tad too far especially if you don't mention them.
That said, I really do like the art style and music, but the game needs to ramp up in difficulty a bit faster. Sorry if I'm wrong, but you definitely should mention that within the thread. Well done on your first Ludum Dare!
I found the game surprisingly fun given how simple it was. The soundtrack works wonders here to build up the ambiance and mood. The simplicity of the graphics is nice but it would work better with some post processing, bloom in particular with a vignette, it would add a bit more to the mood of the game. Also it would be nice to know how much health is left, preferably without a UI so you can further immerse the player, maybe by changing the player core color. :relaxed:
I think that would be the best additions you could make to the game. But besides that, it was wonderful. Made it to 120 something! Cheers!
Why are the piggies so fast!? :sob:
It's cute, funny and overall brilliant but it's also quite difficult, but that's pretty much all the games this Jam :joy: Well done!
My strat was, find the chest, get a vantage point near it and make a run for it. Got quite difficult still, awesome game
I'm just in awe, the theme works so well with the gameplay. Also love how the environment and audio change as you progress. Well done!
Such atmospheric, much ambient soundtrack, very mood, 5 mood, wow.
Cool games guys! Brilliant audio, if only I could compose half as well as that :sob: Well done
I overall like the game, especially the game idea with the upgrades but god is it difficult, I can't get past the first level! :sob:
I feel like if the movement was a bit more responsive, I would enjoy the game significantly more. That said, it's a wonderful, cute little game. Well done :innocent:
Hello, I played it for a good 15 minutes
* The level design was really good! I had to backtrack once because I ran out of ammo but there was enough to allow me to progress further. But later in the game I had more than plenty, so ammo reservation became a non issue.
* The soundtrack and sfx were quite nice.
* The intoxication effect is really awesome, it captures the state quite well and although it doesn't provide much discomfort it did make me feel a bit dizzy after a while.
* I didn't know what the green item was until I noticed its effect late into the game. * I loved the Wolfenstein-esque graphics, really captured that aesthetic style brilliantly well.
* There were often cases where I didn't want to drink more, it would be better to always pickup but a key to use the item.
Overall I really enjoyed the game! I absolutely love the way it interprets the theme! Well done
All this game does is remind me of how much work I've got to do
Still really enjoyed it!
Cool game, creepy atmosphere works well with the game idea. But yeah lemme read the tutorial before I fail :sob:
Absolutely awesome game, loved it
Hey hey, the itch.io link is broken for me
Awesome changes! Makes the game much more fun! I'd probably change the key to pick up the slime as well.
Simple game but it's still loads of fun! :smiley_cat: Well done!
Hey hey! Not bad for a first game. I couldn't even have a finished game my first LD :sob: Really digging the soundtrack!
A little bit more work on the mechanics and you've got a wonderful game here. Loving the art style too! Well done
Fun game, love how chaotic it gets when you have all these different power ups! My games got a similar idea with the bullet hell style except you create your own bullet hell! :smiley_cat: Well done!
Lookin good. Loving the music! Needed some more feedback when the enemies were hit tho.
Decent game! Like the art! :D
I like really music and the game fits well with the theme  Would work brilliantly with multiplayer!
Well done!
Really digging the game idea/mechanics but dear god the controls :sob: Love the aesthetic style, stunning
Hello again, I've got a bit more feedback. I like the control adjustments they feel a bit more responsive now but still need some work, I wasn't able to find the control scheme anywhere for the PC, you need to press control to pause and arrow keys to select the different level layouts. I'd def put that in somewhere + controller is recommended. The game concept still is brilliant and one of my favorites
Really nice game, diggin that aesthetic style! Maybe would've worked even better as an orthographic axonometric view? Would love to see that! Well done
Nice one! With the portrait res were you planning on making it mobile? Would work well with accelerometer movement
The game overall I enjoyed quite a bit! Got a score of 122133 by the end and dear god I did have mo problems by the end. I loved the idea of the game with money management, stressful idea coupled with stressful game play. Also, the pixel art was really just absolutely brilliant. The sound effects were also decent. I think most people probably mentioned the controls responding unexpectedly when objects are on top of one another.
But again, I did really enjoy the game. Well done!
Overall good concept! Brilliant art style, great audio, excellent interpretation of the theme, outstanding ambiance which is really impactful on the mood and nice execution. Well done on your first compo!
Brilliant game, really enjoyed it, cheers!
Simple game, it could benefit a whole lot from more focus on the art side. But was fun overall
Although I didn't find the "game" too fun, it's the most innovative and interesting interpretation of the theme I've seen so far. I do really love the concept behind it, makes me wonder what gave you the idea? :joy:
I think if you could somehow incorporate more of a game from the data/video pulling, again, somehow, it would be far more interesting. Very well done tho!
Really enjoyed the game, was quite fun! Being able to attack downwards would've been nice tho!
I was able to get 90 eggs.
Loved the audio and the minimalist mono aesthetic style, though it's a bit bare bones. It's just held back by the lacking game-play. The rewind mechanic also, doesn't seem particularly useful. Other than that, it's a decent submission.
Good game I actually really enjoyed it!
Thanks for the great game! More sounds + global movement would be nice tho!
GG
GG my dude
Really enjoyed the game. But it needed some more feedback, I couldn't figure out which abilities were effective and where to use them.
@ryanjs Cheers my dude, I played it on stream too, [in case you missed it.](https://www.twitch.tv/majorflubz/video/297420192?t=04h10m01s) (Around 4h 10m)
 GG! Really enjoyed the game, controls need a bit of improvement tho!
Cool game, enjoyed it!
Brilliant game! Loved it!
The lighting made things hard to see here and there, and I think the player controller could be improved. But I really enjoyed the game overall!
Nice game for a first attempt, quite similar in concept with our game. I'm just so bad at games tho, 10 mins and I couldn't get past the first couple platforms. There's lots of complexity in the game with the pick ups and inventory system, but you need to work on the game-play, art and music quite a bit more. Maybe consider looking for a team next time?
Overall really good game space for jump would have been nice
@yami-no-tenshi-8 The high scores currently only work on the Windows Build. Also, that's a pretty good score! :smile_cat:
Needs more feedback on the lose state, boosting the art style would be good too!
GG Fun game!
Brillant game, loved it!
