This is rather enjoyable. Can be a bit confusing at first, but it's pretty easy to pick up on things as you play, so that doesn't matter too much, haha.
There need to be more Punch Out clones. Just sayin'. :)
Haven't had time to finish the game, but it's pretty solid overall. It's a bit hard to navigate, but then again, so were the GameBoy games that it's trying to replicate, lol.
A pretty fun game, though a pain to control with only 1 player, haha. Surprisingly playable even then TBH. My biggest gripe is just that the game is more of "the less you have, the worse it is" than "the more you have, the worse it is", but the game itself is pretty solid.
A decent concept, but the movement is a bit slippery and the game needed to do a better job of explaining that you need to catch the pickaxe.
Pretty fun once you have it all worked out however! My best score so far is 650.
Pretty enjoyable game overall, though the lack of background music hurts it a bit, and more importantly, I wasn't really feeling the game's use of the "The more you have, the worse it is" theme. But don't get me wrong: I had a fun time with this game, and it's definitely one of the better ones I've played so far.
Okay, first off, that control scheme needs some work. (Maybe split it across two hands, e.g. wasd to move, j to eat, k to interact, l to throw food?) Second off, ROOAAAR I'M A BEAR! Third off, why can I jump with spacebar and why does it mess up the music? XD Fourthly, the game's a bit hard, but other than that it's pretty fun, the song is nice, and the graphics are wonderfully cartoony and humorous! Nice job!
I had high expectations going into this one, as it looked like more fun than the other games I had tried up to this point. I've gotta say: I think this is the first of these games I've played so far I actually really enjoyed playing. Nice work all around!
It's a solid concept, but the controls really harmed the fun factor for me a lot. I would highly recommend looking into WASD+Mouse controls, at least as an option, as I feel like the game would control far better with such a setup available. The graphics were simple but effective, the audio on the other hand was just kinda bland IMO. The game did a good job of fitting the theme of "the more you have, the worse it is", and I do really feel like it could've been far more enjoyable if the controls weren't so finicky and the game was generally a bit more polished, but as it stands, at least it's pretty decent for a game made in such a short amount of time, though not particularly unique or memorable.
Gameplay is pretty decent, the graphics are good, but the menu buttons are labelled weirdly (I didn't even realize the game had a help menu until I tried pressing the strangely-labelled "assist" button), and because of that I didn't realize what the green cloud was supposed to do at first, resulting in it being harder to play than it should be. That, and the game is a bit repetitive and kinda isn't all that hard, which is usually not a particularly fun mix.
This would be a lot more fun if you could move faster. Concept was solid, but I didn't feel like it was "the more you have, the worse it is" as much as it could have been. However, it was still a neat concept and I'd love to see more done with it in the future.
Also, the soundtrack was decent and the atmosphere was good.
Gets a bit repetitive after a while, but a solid concept and good controls make this a pretty decent entry overall. Nicely done!
Certainly an interesting game, though not particularly fun to actually play as a traditional game due to the inherent nature of the game. Won't spoil anything for anyone else, but I do consider it pretty solid as a whole.
Okay, I'll admit: That was a neat twist at the end. :D
This might be one of my favorite games I've played for Ludum Dare 40 thus far. Solid concept, solid gameplay, nice graphics. What more is there to say? It's pretty much a modernized Minesweeper. :)
@mrthee, the theme comes in to play because the power-ups mostly make things worse for you rather than better, especially the death ray, the (REDACTED, 8th power-up), and the triple shot.
@maybe The boss is quite possible. Some people have actually complained that it's too easy if you abuse health regen enough, but even without that it's very possible to beat.
Also, the boss isn't split into phases, it just has an attack pattern that loops over and over again. It'll start using those attacks regardless of whether or not you attack it.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the game!
A very amusing game that fits the theme well.
Don't drink and drive!
Oh my goodness this game is hilarious and is probably now my new choice for most favorite game of the Jam so far. Wonderful job!
A very funny and enjoyable game. It controls decently well, there's a sense of difficulty curve, and the exact mechanics make the player wanna rush forwards and try as quickly as possible to score points. It's a pretty solid idea and it's executed rather well! My only real gripe is that the music starts getting a bit meh after a while, but other than that, nicely done!
My highscore is 42. I don't know how I feel about that. XD In all seriousness, a simple but enjoyable game.
The orange and yellow look too similar, I didn't realize at first that a new color had even been introduced. Pretty cool concept and a decently fun game once you get the hang of it though. :)
(I feel like 6 colors is a few too many however.)
The game definitely fits the theme of the competition well, that's for sure. Not a particularly innovative game, but a decently fun distraction for a few minutes nonetheless. And for a game made in 7 hours, it's especially solid.
