Quite challenging, once you are in you are in :)

kerneltt 2017-12-04 19:42

i always love a good color changing mechanic but the playability is kinda weird

too difficult for me:( but good mechanics

jeysym 2017-12-04 22:26

Great concept, but really hard for me :D.

happygreenfrog 2017-12-04 22:35

The orange and yellow look too similar, I didn't realize at first that a new color had even been introduced. Pretty cool concept and a decently fun game once you get the hang of it though. :)

(I feel like 6 colors is a few too many however.)

The mechanics are fun, but it was way too difficult for me, but that's probably more my fault than yours. I liked the look of it, and overall, I would say this is a great entry!

SOMEDAYIWILLASCEND

Definitely interesting game mechanic, it's like you're playing seven shmups at once! I think the only thing this really needs to bring it from "extremely hard" to "hard but manageable" is someone way to dodge/defend against incoming bullets. It does feel kind of unfair when you're hit by a bullet shot by a ship that you've already taken down. Perhaps a shield mechanic that behaves like the bullets, where you have to match colors to reflect bullets.

It's really hard to me but I like the mechanics. Great game.

It is a bit difficult to key Settings.

Love the take on the theme. Quickly becomes a muscle memory dance. Could be mapped better to make it easier on the player. Perhaps on the numpad (though I understand not all keyboards have numpads). Had to play a few times just for the challenge of how far I could ASCEND.

Really liked the idea here! But the key mapping was to difficult for me, didn't feel quite natural.

baby-dino-herd 2017-12-08 02:03

I really enjoyed the concept. It took me a while to figure out how to change colours -- would help to have an in-game reminder at the same time. I wish the challenge ramped up a little more slowly, but regardless, you've made a really interesting and replayable game. Well done!

elodeon 2017-12-08 03:10

Really interesting, but I couldn't quite get the hand of the color changing. Still something I'd like to revisit.

As it is in most cases when the difficulty is taken into accout, I cannot agree with posts above. The game is hard, but absolutely managable. The thing that most people probably didn't get, is that you just need to stick to the color that isn't present in defence, absorb all the bullets, then shoot. Not that hard for me. Idea is great, and it feels good.

The key mapping is the real issue tho. When you steer with a/d, shooting on w is kinda not natural, switching colors was ok, but I believe some better mapping could be created.

Second thing is UI. You can't expect player to focus on 5/6 colors and watch at hp written in number in the top left corner. Any hp bar, or even that number should be displayed on our character.

Also, as someone mentioned, while colors can be somehow distinguished, you can't always do it clear and fast.

Beside those issues, great fun game!

Took a little while to grasp the game but after that it was nice. I guess you could increase the difficulty level a bit faster. I agree with the posts about the keys, I had some issues with the key mapping too. Would have loved to have some music and variation to the SFX but all in all good effort and game.

Awesome work with the theme, I really liked the mechanic of avoiding / dealing damage even though it was really hard to get used to it, at least for me. A nice game indeed.

bryceltaylor 2017-12-28 17:25

Nice! It was pretty hard, but I think in a good way. There is something about the keys that you chose for the color switching that felt strange and took getting used to. Other than that, great work!
