This game made me laugh so hard that I almost spilled my coffee. I ended up giving this game highest score I ever rated, I think LOL It's almost perfect. Better tutorial would help, though. And it could be more challenging, way too easy
Neat game. Love its pretty chilled pacing. It looks and feels almost finished and ready for an app store. What I did not like was the controls to orient the furniture. Otherwise, looks and feels great! Could totally finish it up and publish it!
Actually this game turned out to be much more than I expected. Turned out to be quite fun in the end. however, there is an issue this game that the stronger you get the slower you run and I did not notice any increase in power with which you punch other opponents. So it actually puts you to a disadvantage I think. I like the idea and it kind of fits the theme. however, I would prefer that it had sounds and of course music. Good luck!
Could be a winner, this one. Everything about this game is great. Kudos for controller support, feels great to play it. What could be improved: sound/sfx (kind of blunt compared to the rest), it was difficult to tell box sizes (too small; maybe color code it?)
Really enjoyed this game and made me laugh :D I just wish it was more playable, there is no way it's possible to beat it! :D
Hey dude it’s a nice game. I followed a bit on the development of it. I like the soundtrack, but I know that it wasn't you who made it. definitely love the humor, this game kind of fits the theme. But I think the difficulty of it is a bit too much, that difficulty curved could use some refinement. Good luck!
So it turns out that you need to press space to pick up crystals? OK so I played this for quite some time and it seems like both WebGL and Windows versions handle picking up differently. I love the soundtrack and the art direction. The idea in general is OK, it is basically a snake with shrinking map. There's also a meta game of collecting crystals, but ultimately there is no goal except for "don't die", which is quite easy, as you can leave at any time - no penalties, no rewards. But I see where it could be going. I think that probably the scope for this game was too big to handle and the essential parts of the puzzle are missing, as I sense that, clearly, something else was planned and it was not delivered. However, my general experience was quite pleasant. Absence of a tutorial is also a bust, reading text is not quite entertaining. Cheers! PS if you are looking for other games to review, feel free to check out my Compactor Bot Escape game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/compactor-bot-escape
Love the music, interaction is pretty solid, although I am not the biggest fan of an Up arrow for the jump. Restart is bugged: pickup count is frozen at 0. In the bot fight level it's difficult to tell the background from the platform. That level is also extremely punishing: you die if you touch a bot. Also, it seems like when you kill the last bot you go to the same screen as when you die? I tried to beat it again, but those bots just keep killing meeeee! The jump is very good. Thank you for checking out my game "Compactor Bot Escape", cheers! PS Sorry for the late response, though, I was pretty busy.
It's simple and straight to the point - and I really enjoyed playing it. It made me laugh once, which is also good. A great example of a Ludum Dare game scoped just right. I wish that you could put the items back in the queue and that you did not have to click second time to "let go". Good luck!
Unfortunately, this game needs more effort to it. There are too many bugs, no music, little to no feedback, the font is quite unreadable and it barely fits the theme, sorry. Good luck next time!
It's an OK game, but it is bugged (pun intended). There is no fail condition and if the leaves stutter on the left side and block the way, I think that there is a huge amount of bugs that spawn off the screen and the sound becomes unbearable. I don't understand why you would need to hold and release to jump, seems like a weird choice to me. Yes, inconsistent art. Kind of weird that it took five people to develop this, but OK. Oh hey, it has a nice and relaxing soundtrack. Good luck!
It's a solid game, I quite liked it. I have a problem connecting the fact that unwanted junk is the one that is colored, while wanted junk is same color, know what I mean? Also I am not entirely sure I understood the "mouth blow" mechanic. It would be great if I could turn camera with key strokes, e.g. "E" and "Q". I am really impressed with the quality of audio you can achieve with mouth sounds, really good! Cheers! :)
First I did not like the game because I could not understand the rules in its entirety (I do not read descriptions that are longer than a couple of lines, I believe that since I am rating a game, that game should do the job). However, after playing it for a while I noticed that I am actually enjoying it! The gameplay is solid, the controls are great, what else would you ask for? Maybe some music and some sort of... theme, I guess. Because this game looks very boring to me. So, I'd like to have a tutorial and a different difficulty curve, I think it starts off too difficult. Cheers, and thank you for rating my Compactor Bot Escape game!
Pretty good for the first game. There are a couple of quirks, like when in some places there's not enough space to go through the level and also I would like it to fit the theme more in terms of gameplay, but overall - quite OK!
Liked the game. Nice graphics and music - simple and to the point. Gameplay can get a bit frustrating in the end, though. Perhaps, it would help if you made the headphones guy skinnier? Good luck! PS I feel like you could deliver more on the theme, since in the game I can't really feel that I am "running out of space", really. Also, you could make a better progression, since you start off in a super-crowded wagon (or whatever it is called).
Wow, what a great LD entry! Great job! The combat system is not good, though, but for 72 hours game it's very impressive. I beat the game, but only using an exploit in the combat system. Was killed, like, 6-7 times before that. Great humor, that's a 5/5 for sure! One of the best game I played in this LD.
Loved the game, kept me playing long enough! Love the art, music and sounds. Almost no complaints!
Quite a wholesome experience you've got there! Music, art and gameplay work great together; respect, guys. The problems are with game design, but that's understandable, considering the time limit. For example: enemy projectile speed is the same as player's projectiles speed. Ship is growing disproportionally, becoming too big to maneuver, not so much screen space to maneuver in general, etc. Cheers
Great job with that art direction, very well made. Gameplay can get real boring real fast, but that's not the point, I guess. Reminded me of an iOS game called BestLuck. Cheers!
I'm confused, is there singleplayer??
Laughed a lot, thank you. Controls are quite clunky, difficulty curve is uneven, too many enemies that respawn too fast.
Love the art style... is it called something? To save me time, pretty please
OMG this is just great, a wholesome experience that is scoped so well that there is literally no complaints. The ending touch is freaking awesome, loved it to bits! Cheers, it's simply amazing!
Cool start and nice vibe, but controls and camera are very clunky.
Graphics are so-so, gameplay is standard left/right clicker that needs adjustments, but hey - it's a LD and it fits the theme!
Wow, that's a wholesome game! Very well scoped, you get full short experience, I have no complaints! Great job.
It's an OK game with simple controls. Very loosely fits the topic, the "nothing" aspect is minimal. Replayability value is low. But overall it's OK. dcc6Gsm.jpg
Nice art. Gameplay, however, leaves much to be desired. There are amateur platformer mistakes, e.g. getting stuck on the corners of the platforms, inability to look down when the enemies are below you (camera problem), hitting platforms with your head when jumping (even though Unity offers great in-built solution for that; look up platform effectors). Cheers!
Great work with audio. Quite an experiment right there.
It's a simple idea that is very well executed, great job! No, seriously, it's a fun chilled game that is extremely well scoped.
It's OK, art is so-so. Not sure how it fits the theme, though. Cheers
Loved the idea and was excited to try it, it is a fun little game. However... controls are really killing it... Not only it's clunky, but why... why would you have 'Ctrl' as jump? why?
Fun: it is a fun game indeed
Fits the theme: absolutely
Graphics: great models
Nice music
Wow what a great start, that intro! It's a shame that local mutliplayer is not so testable on LD format. Also, I could not choose my bonus with xbox controller?
Nice game! Hey do you guys copy a certain game that exists elsewhere? Because this is the third game that I come across that has the same 'innovative' gameplay. I mean, I think it is innovative, no jokes, never played anything like that, but I can see at least three games with the same gameplay: yours, Warp Trash Flotilla and Ragtag Rescue. Links:
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/warp-trash-flotilla
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/ragtag-rescue
Does that game genre have a name?
Had lots of fun playing it!
Controls: turning around and camera controls are quite clunky.
Fun: it is indeed a fun game.
Fits the theme: kind of does.
Graphics: simple, but works OK.
AI: so-so, you can wait until AI destroys each other and then finish the remaining opponent.
Conclusion: not bad at all, I can see lots of potential here!
Overall, not bad reaction game. Like the graphics style, clean and simple, yet atmospheric. Don't really see how it fits the theme, though. Also could polish the controls, I feel like I am losing all the time unjustly, perhaps let the player win more? It's game design thing, cheers!
PS I can see that becoming a hypercasual mobile game if you change some aspects of gameplay, give it a try!
Thanks for playing! Unfortunately, there is no win condition, it was supposed to be an endless roguelike-like.
Thanks @mad-brokli , appreciate the feedback!
Hey @rocktavious appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately, it is not possible to play it with WebGL version, some features just won't work. What is the benefit of uploading it to itch.io? It seems like it just adds one more step in downloading a game?
Thanks for the feedback @sprotex you say that "significant amount of energy went into creating that". Could you elaborate on what you meant by "that"? Did you mean the intro? I find it interesting that people like it as much as they do, because I literally spent about... well, no more than 10 minutes right before the deadline creating it... Did I understand you correct?
looool thanks for your reply @sprotex it's super funny that the thing i spent least amount of time on - got most of attention haha or so it seems
Not bad, interesting concept that has been made before, but here you can see an interesting take on it. I feel like maybe interacting with more than 1 shadow at a time is too much, but I'm not sure here. Don't know how that fits the topic, though. Cheers
Not bad overall, it's OK that you don't have a story or other bells and whistles. You even have sounds and music, which is great. Visually, it is very well done. And it fits the theme, what else do you want? :) My only complaint is about visibility, too much bloom prevents you from seeing some of the enemies.
Wow, please accept my compliments. The mood is 10/10, kept me playing till the very end, great job. Lots of bugs, but the feel is great. And the music works so well with gameplay: shivers and goosebumps!
Sorry how can I play it? Is there an executable?
Thanks for updating it, I think that the game is pretty well-made, however it would be nice to have some sort of instruction for the code in the game itself. Otherwise, no complaints, really. Well done.
Nice music, fits the theme, visually it is so-so, I am afraid. Controls are problematic, too: you need to use WASD, arrows and mouse wheel at the same time, as if you had three hands lol. But hey, I had a bit of fun, cheers!
Great idea and nice looking, but the gameplay is so-so. 4 directions of enemy attacks, but not enough camera speed. Camera moves in 4 horizontal directions instead of 8 (this is just infuriating). Selecting units is pain in the ass, selection drops each time your press to move. Enemy moves almost as fast as your defender cells. I can see potential, but execution level is not there yet. Cheers!
Interesting ideas, execution is very amateur, though. Also, not sure how it fits the theme.
Ahhhh OK I see @ninnec that sounds fun. I increased my score in the theme category. Cheers!
Amazing, loved it! In fact, loved it so much that I played to the end! It's a great little mini metroidvania with a twist, great job. Controls feel good, music is good, graphics is good + a nice surprise for those who beat the game, you've got it all. In terms of innovation... well, every other dev thought about similar mechanic. Nevertheless, great job, guys.
Pretty good. Visuals are so-so, I'd also like to have better controls for traversing the trash chunk, it's clunky. Otherwise, not bad at all. I'd say that gameplay is innovative, but I've watched a guy on twitch making pretty much the same game - more or less... Have you seen such mechanic before or you came up with it from scratch? Good job.
Pretty good art, interesting idea. Games about darkness are difficult to make. I think that game developers should learn from cinematographers: if the scene is dark, it doesn't mean there should be no light in it, it should not be pitch black. My opinion, anyway. You can have it pitch black, but then compensate with level design, I guess. Otherwise, the player is disoriented and it's simply not fun, which is probably most important thing. You did solve another challenge, though, which is: the dark/light contrast does not hurt eyes, which is well done! :) Cheers
Looool I had fun because of how silly it is :D However, there is no gameplay per se, so it is more of an 'interactive experience', which fits the theme nevertheless. Not much can be said here.
Chilled game... Game that I did not understand lol. Cool soundtrack!
Not bad, not bad at all. Great effort. Haven't got many complaints except for that flickering light that's so annoying.
Very good, I love how you combined different gameplay mechanics. There's space for obvious improvements, sure, it's Ludum Dare, after all. But other than that, everything works well with each other and it fits the theme well. Great job!
And the way you make elements interact with each other, it's just sweet! Cheers.
No-no-no, you did a great job, I can tell you. Enjoyed the game, it kept me interested so I made it to the end. This is your highest reward, cheers!
The game is 'almost' cute. The controls are terrible, though, the camera makes you dizzy... I mean, it's OK... not great, not terrible...
Idea is great, but gameplay design kills it. You need to escape fast-moving HOMING missiles? Let us also hide them behind the trees so you won't know what got you lol. I can see great potential, it just needs polish.
Great drawings! However, first I hated this game. Took me, like, 10 min to figure out how to play. You guys simply need to mark the places that are clickable, simple solution. Anyways, here I am, 30 min after, asking myself: "Man, if you hate this game, why are you playing it for half an hour already?". Well done hehehe.
I liked it, however it is painful to continue playing it, as you have to sit through each unskippable dialogue line over and over again, while punishment for choosing a wrong dialogue is brutal. Like, grandpa killed me because I said 'No' to his job offer. OK...
It would be great if it wasn't so bugged, in some places I have no idea why I'm dying... And no, I will not sit through that starting monologue for the 4th time, thanks. Like the jokes, it's definitely 5 for humor, but the game would greatly benefit from subtitles (no offence).
@hitnrun76 oh so you managed to make a game with zero bugs, that's amazing
Pretty cool. I don't think it fits Ludum Dare format because strictly speaking it's not a game. Although, I "played" it more than I am willing to admit. Curiosity killed the cat, as they say. I liked it, however I lowered the scores I'd normally give in this case because in my opinion this 'interactive experience' should not win LD. Other than that, good job, guys!
OK so visually and stylistically you were doing a great thing. Unfortunately, gameplaywise it's not there at all. Controls are so-so, camera clipping, camera angle is not suitable for gameplay at all, I'd say. AFAIK over the shoulder camera always comes with aiming system, or zooming system, or sides switch ability, or cover system... otherwise, it makes no sense to use it in the first place. It's like having a healthbar in Super Mario game - there's no purpose for that.
Cute little game, sweet art, like the pickpocketing mini game. It's quite well made, you don't even notice that lack of sounds or animations, well done! I have no complaints except for some minor UX issues.
The game wouldn't run. It's 'Salmon.exe', right?
Nah @vectorwolf there's an error saying something about actor data not found, it doesn't work...
I understand. I can assure you that I did not move anything @vectorwolf
Not bad visually! However, in terms of gameplay, we have problems... We can fly backwards really fast, but camera only shows what is in front. We have a very long ship, which is why we are crashing all the time. Enemies projectiles are... homing? The very first enemy will absolutely slaughter you. Crashing into things yields very big punishment (at least we don't need to restart the game entirely lol like in old games). Control scheme is weird, you are playing with left hand while your right hand does nothing... It's your game, of course, but there is space for improvement (no pun intended).
This some real effed up thing, lads! lol. I think that project scope was too big, but in my opinion the main issue is that the dialogue isn't made well... you need to turn back and look at a person each time, so I ended up missing most of it. A simple subtitle system would solve it, also it's an easier solution in terms of implementation.
Love the idea, it's 5/5 for innovation. Not bad at all. However, playing this game was quite uncomfortable. Maybe because of the stark contrast when playing? Idk. Feel like my eyes are hurting now.
@feingehacktes unfortunately it's difficult to describe why that happens and how to solve it. My guess is that it has to with contrast, or maybe it's similar to flashing images problem and photosensitivity. To be honest, I was working on a similar prototype last year (in 3D, though) and had the same discomfort. There's a game called Devil's Tuning Fork that tackles similar gameplay, you might wanna look it up.
It's OK, I guess... Where do you get a weapon, from the chest? I pressed 'E' many times, could not open it...
I think that this simplistic art style actually works well... Love the robot animation. However, the music is annoying, the intro is pain, amateur mistakes like falling off screen, also you can't even move past first level, there's something blocking the way... It's an OK start, but you need to do better. I feel like you probably spent most of the time on that intro instead of actual gameplay. Prioritize better, cheers!
