Hi! I'm seeing an problem on your itch.io where the viewport appears smaller than what Unity expects. As a result, the WASD control image is almost entirely cut off, for example. Might just need to manually set the itch.io res to the correct value?

eupde 2019-10-08 02:16

👍 Thanks for letting us know. We worked in Phaser, not Unity. Either way, we noticed that too and we think we found the issue. We're push a small fix in a little bit here - just one number wrong in one place and it threw things of for certain types of displays (because of course that's always how these things go). Thanks again!

davidsheadgames 2019-10-08 02:20

Having the same problem as mentioned above. You might want to just specify a manual size in itch.io 's setting (and make sure it's set correctly) As the person said above.

Otherwise, it's a fun and simple game and has a wacky, outstanding art design. The controls seem a bit slow on input to what happens in the screen, not sure if that's phaser or what...

I like the gameplay concept too. Basically a fancy version of blackjack or The Price Is Right, where you try to guess at as much as you can without going bust.

Ended the first run with 95 and the second with 112. Fun!

eupde 2019-10-08 02:24

Thanks for the feedback! We *just* pushed a fix for display size, so if anyone else has any issues, let us know - because we think it's fixed, but you know how it be.

onlyallygrace 2019-10-08 02:46

SO fun!! Loved playing this game. Great job!

studio-rtv 2019-10-08 02:55

I really enjoyed this game! I absolutely adored the art style, gave me like a very candyland type vibe which fit the goofy nature of the game already. I actually laughed out loud when I first encountered a horse in someone's pocket too, really wasn't expecting that one haha!

Ended my first run with 118 and second with 135, so 182 is ridiculous!! Nice work :)

william-derksen 2019-10-08 02:59

Pretty fun! The art is very pretty and the flipping cards mechanic was pretty fun! I was also surprised at the variety! Would be cool to see a level system with this similar to overGoked where the environment becomes harder to steal things in! It would be cool to have like guards or something like that too! I would love to see this developed further! Great game.

lauryn 2019-10-08 04:50

Wonderful art, I'm in love with the colours :) I stole 2 horses so I'm feeling pretty good.

brallex 2019-10-08 04:53

Fun little game, you don't want to be too greedy that's for sure xD Got 143 score, is that good?^^

Wanted to point out on thing: The art. Simply put AMAZING

Would be even better with sound! Great job!:)

paragonraptors 2019-10-08 04:54

This was so much fun! Very clever use of the theme, loved flipping the cards for the gameplay and excellent use of color for the artwork.

slimabob 2019-10-08 04:54

Fun little game. Was expecting the guards to be called if I was caught but it let me move on to the next unsuspecting commoner >:)

Great job all around.

lukein 2019-10-08 05:24

Cool looking art! But where do these people put their horses ? I stole them a horse, twice!

generalbeans 2019-10-08 06:27

Fun times! The controls for the movement were a bit weird, the bounding boxes were hard to determine sometimes. But it wasn't a problem enough to stop me from playing the game. Once I got a handle on how the stealing worked, the meter and what each symbol was trying to tell me, it make stealing a breeze and I just would try to nab as quickly as possible with the highest value I could get! I think this was a stellar idea for a game about pick pocketing! Thanks!

laurens 2019-10-08 07:33

This is a fun game :) Nice style too. The movement feels a bit clunky at times. Otherwise well done!

siarhei-pilat 2019-10-08 08:42

Cute little game, sweet art, like the pickpocketing mini game. It's quite well made, you don't even notice that lack of sounds or animations, well done! I have no complaints except for some minor UX issues.

rex10000 2019-10-08 19:21

Cool idea! And it looks amazing!

fractal 2019-10-08 19:32

It doesn’t seem to be working for me. I can click on play, and then I see the controls at the bottom left, the time (ticking down) at the top and the score at the top right, but everything else is just black.

fractal 2019-10-08 19:38

It seems to be a problem with Chrome, I tried with Firefox and it works. It took me some time to understand what is going on, but it’s a cool idea!

karanveer 2019-10-08 19:58

I have chrome and it kinda feels buggy but im hoping its fixed because it looks exciting. From screenshots i would say Good Work.

karanveer 2019-10-08 20:00

But do let us know when fixed because its not working for me on itch so ...please update us on that! :)

rxbbie 2019-10-08 20:05

Hm, it seems to be working fine in Chrome on our end. Not sure what could be wrong without seeing what's up or having an error. Sorry about that!!

palinalif 2019-10-08 20:10

I liked the mechanic but the controls seemed a bit weird to me, might just be me though!

maggardjosh 2019-10-08 20:21

Love the graphics and the different types of items you could find in villagers pockets  nice entry!

robopossum 2019-10-08 20:34

The art style is really nice. The movement controls could use some work (moving left or right and then pressing up or down makes you perpetually go up or down until you hit something). That and some audio would be nice too.

marcus-otterstrom 2019-10-08 21:48

Works well for me on chrome! Fun idea for gameplay, managed to get *exactly* 200 when time ran out. I think maybe the movement could be improved to be more snappy and responsive, but other than that it's a very solid entry

gamesplusjames 2019-10-08 22:01

This was really cool! I like the stealing mechanic, and the artstyle was really nice. Great work!

omiya-games 2019-10-08 23:58

There is quite an impressive amount of polish for a first-time game jam entry. The art is beautiful and easy to read. Controls were easy to learn. And I liked the card flipping animation.

I felt there were a lot of information that I missed on my first few playthrough. For example, the first score I got was 0, since I didn't know one needed to click each card twice to actually steal. I also couldn't make out what was considered a trap, and what wasn't. Getting kicked out from stealing was bizarre for this reason; the card values didn't match, so why did it happen? I'm also not sure how traveling from one person to another added to the experience.

ETA: I forgot to add some bugs I encountered. This includes walking into objects, which (correctly) forced me in a 45 degree or so direction to avoid said object...then kept doing that well after the object was out of my walking path. I also learned the icon to steal remains even when your character is not within the bounds of stealing.

jake-marks 2019-10-09 00:06

Hitboxes are a bit wonky, but the game is very fun. I wonder what the highest score is?

karwei 2019-10-09 02:00

@jake-marks my high score is 182, but my teammates have gotten much higher scores. Anything over 200 is pro!

adamcyounis 2019-10-09 04:55

I really liked the art style and character design in this game. It took me a little while to pick up on what was going on, mechanically, but after that i understood okay. The system could have used a little more tension, forcing me to make faster / more hazardous choices by way of consequences or time pressures. I think some sound and visual effects could have helped also. Overall, the game felt a little bit under-developed but what I played was promising. Looking forward to seeing the game grow a bit more, if you choose to take it further. Thanks!

2019-10-09 09:36

Lovely art! I included it in my Ludum Dare 45 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/Bucux0B4E5k

clemonades 2019-10-09 18:08

I really like the artwork on this one! Also the concept is pretty unique and the gameplay was fun. Nice job!

mathemagician 2019-10-09 18:35

Some very nice looking illustrations for this one. It's too bad you weren't able to make things a little more dynamic with animations/sounds, or with some increased pressure to move quickly.

It feels like there's a lot of potential here

2019-10-09 20:37

I adore the art but in future games, I think you should keep in mind that it is better to have the collision boxes for barriers that limit player movement (Specifically the ones for the houses) smaller rather than bigger. This is because it is frustrating to attempt walking by the houses, & be stopped by an invisible barrier that was presumably meant to represent the player colliding with the houses, but the barrier is nowhere near the actual house. Allowing the player to walk through the houses would be much better than having barriers even a little to big & stopping the player from progressing where they wouldn't expect to be stopped.

rxbbie 2019-10-09 20:50

@sirfetishfancy You're totally right! We had some last minute issues that impacted how collision worked and we ended hacking together the less than ideal version that exists now. It probably would have been better to just completely omit collision and roll with it. Thanks for playing!

annie-owl 2019-10-09 22:57

Interesting resource management game! The rules are quite simple and easy to understand, which makes this game very accessible. Reminds me of Card Thief game for some reason.

velvetlobster 2019-10-10 00:55

my favorite part in this is the art, I actually love that the characters don't animate when they walk, it makes they seem like a piece of paper moving above the landscape, which is kinda cute I feel

lanalux 2019-10-11 13:53

Cute concept and beautiful art! Great job!
