The greatest trick the devil (Satan) ever pulled was convincing the hero the floor was not there.
I focus the enemies and move into the lava all the time!
But nice game. :)
Well, I guess it depends on how you interpret the theme. We wanted more critters, but it got quite demanding on the physics engine.
@themonsterfromthedeep: Yeah, we felt like Ludum games should be playable to the end, and not too annoying, so restarting from level 1 would be quite annoying and not so fun.
@ctran13: It seems many had a problem with unreachable exits. In the current state, you need to be very careful to land on a tribble after you jump over it to keep the population down.
Although, you can self-destruct which causes an explosion to push tribbles away. But we added this feature so late so we didn't have time to make graphics for it, and so it's not very obvious this can be part of a strategy to clear out tribbles. Also, it may have been better if the explosion killed them instead of pushed them away, but time... where did the time go? Too bad there isn't a second part of Ludum where you could implement all play-testers comments.
@hauo: Thanks you for the comments. You are correct in your observations. If only we had a little more time... Classic Ludum saying? :D
@joe-sycalik: I've seen that video before. It's very good and I was thinking about it during the weekend but forgot about it. Will bookmark it for possible next time. :) Thanks for the comments.
Nice one. It did get really hard after a while, but then again, I wouldn't want to keep doing the same thing forever. Nice artwork. I also really like flow of the darkness, very nice!
Well done. Quite relaxing game. :D
Wow, this was a hard game! Interesting take though. I need more hands!
Haha, I love multiplayer couch games. Nice little game. Cool that you can bounce bombs on the bomb cloud.
The controls were a bit hard to handle though. I guess they take time to get used to. I think on gamepad with joystick, would be nice direct the weapon same direction stick is holding to.
Also, the instruction graphics say I to join instead of U. :)
Most confusing controls ever. Got a hang of it after a while, but too hard. I think game would have been more fun if the controls were better. I think using the mouse as direction you thrust to would be perfect.
Otherwise, what the heck is happening? I have no idea. Everything duplicates. Trippy! :D
Like the humor at the beginning. :)
Them damned taxes! :D
The driving mechanics are a bit funky. It feels like you are rotating the car at center pivot instead of at the back of the car.
But it's a complete game. Not bad! I like the friendly advisor Joe.
Quite nice, but there is no way in hell to get in time to the furthest room before door closes. Maybe have more time to get the puny humans.
Controls were ok, but yes when colliding into stuff my tank wasn't very tanky, more ballony :D Maybe increase angular drag.
Very nice beginning! But the repetetive levels got boring. Gave up on level 9.
@others: Haha, double jump is mandatory in platformers, almost. :)
Nice game, except that you have to start with a mouse click (enter should start game) and that you need to repress right arrow after new level loads. Fix these two problems and it will be much better.
Nice stressful music after a while. Phew! Quit hard.
@xahell Thanks, interesting video! Will watch the whole thing later.
@jcklie Dying is trying! :D
Hey everyone. Thanks for all input! **Cheat code time!**
The game might be a little hard. We didn't have time to polish and balance it enough and therefore, we left in a little cheat code, for you. :)
To immediately wipe out all nests and get to the boss fight, press k! The boss fight itself is almost another game. New music and hard boss!
And wow, so many commenters! Greets: @shaolin-dave @captaindreamcast @yaen @jonas-tyroller @neowedge @juhani-koskinen @seizethedia @angiemon @nnnnneeeedddd @zax @1samuel411 @spirits @mdwade @flying-dog-fish @flightless @sharks @kmazzio @pixscope @blacklambert @catangens @fireslash @nikos @jofersgames @ttftcuts @xahell @enigma
Special greet to @captaindreamcast who actually made it. Well done!
Nice music, however I must admit I did not understand a thing of the game play :o
Very nice! Good music and graphics. Great feeling in the movement controls etc. The mines blended a little too much into the background though, so was a bit hard to notice them at all times.
Let the heads roll! Nice little music loop. The "children" are ghosting my own movements right? Looks good. Smart. I like the wall climb mechanic. The game was a little laggy in fullscreen on my laptop though (not the best laptop). Hard to know how high you can fall yes. I would skip fall damage, and instead put spikes in pits for dying.
Haha, interesting idea! Took me a try to understand the instructions. Also not sure why the organs collapsed when they had more than 0 "hp". Very nice graphics, totally OK "background music", and cool concept.
Quite nice, once you figured out the trashcan was the car chassi. :D Definately would have helped if the items had some icon or indicator of what they can be used for. But well done!
I won! Damn humans. The fog was a bit much. Removes any strategic moves. Not sure how I like the steering. It felt odd. But great job otherwise. A finished project with nice explosions and different weapons. Quite well done.
Wow, that's pretty amazing to have done in a weekend. Only think lacking is some background music. Small improvements: - At the top left, I must click on the little number box (meeple information) to select that character. Should be possible just by clicking the entire info box. - It took me quite a while to understand how to get wood. I thought I would have to enhance the tile, like with the others, but no, just stand in the forest. :) - Some info saying you can scroll in and out with mouse wheel, and move map around with right click, would also be nice :)
@fictions: You are early my friend. Jam deadline isn't there yet. But now we have a playable link. :)
@zoarfy: True, the dropped pacifier could have been bigger. @black-flag: Yup, randomized.
We also wanted to have more content in the game, but as you all know, time runs out.
@0x53ee71ebe11e : Haha, by buggy I assume you mean full of bugs, eh... yeah. :D Mmm, I think we could have has a lot more content with one more day.
Uh-uh, the camera locked in too high after a jump. Really nice graphics and scrolling. Took me a while to understand the first block could be moved. :) It's an art balancing time spent on graphics and coding. Perhaps this time too much time was spent on graphics. :)
For fast readers, having to wait until next text comes is a pain. Also, I got cheated on an expensive shovel! :)
Great mood. I agree about the notebook. It was a bit unnecessariliy hard to open and use. Quite funny "What are we doing here? I don't know ..." :D
I dig the graphics. Too bad some ground block were cut so vertically, when others had nice alpha roundness. I accidentally built myself into the wall with a big rock, so I couldn't get out.
Would have loved some music, and maybe some info of what you get when you take the bubbles.
Nice atmosphere, but it ain't halloween yet! :)
Exterminate. Exterminate. Destroy. All. Good. Took a while to figure out the lava planet was good. :D
Quick'n'easy. Well done. :) I expected to die from rats hitting me, but they were harmless :id: Actually very nice tunes. Too bad the ending one didn't loop very well. I would have wanted it in the game while playing!
@hwaet Yeah, we ran out of time. Actually, we had plans of using the bear, and switching the rails, and a few others. We kind of got stuck on the technical parts for too long and didn't have time to implement all the game play we wanted. Maybe we will learn for next time. :) @sorko: Our 3D artist was new with doing 3D stuff so hadn't learn how to rig stuff yet. Next time, animations and more game play :)
@quacky22200 : Ahaha, yes, we actually had Lemmings in the back of our minds. Some kind of cross-over. Unfortunately we didn't have time to implement all ideas, which might have made it even more obvious. :)
Love the music :D
I played on my phone, which actually kind of worked. Nice music, reminded me of a vnv nation song.
Nice audio. It was a little buggy, I think most bugs had to do with retry. I could go on a collecting spree and keep the sticks after I retried. And I think I picked something up on an earlier run and then couldn't pickup logs.
But very atmospheric! I think your next LD will be much better if you learn how to fix these bugs :)
Haha, the ending. :)
Very nice indeed! Pleasant music and nice game play. I couldn't handle the final boss though. :o
Also I kind of got stuck when I moved too fast into the wall. :) I think it would be nicer if the wall was safe to bump into.
Pretty neat. Not so stressful. Good with a relaxiing game where you just chill and click :D
Thanks guys. @tengusheath Yeah that was the plan, but we kind of ran out of time so had to make due with the first prototype-implementation.
Relaxing music, nice graphics. This game genre isn't really for me, but it was well done! Simple instructions, even though I made YUCK for my first delivery. :)
Personally I missed a progression system. So the game would start with easy recipes and give you harder and harder recipes, instead of random ones.
Well polished. I could see it being enjoyed on mobile, with some minor modifications.
Wow, I love the music!
I didn't really like the dashing in summoning circle though, as it almost felt like a bug. The enemies didn't do anything.
I could dash into buildings, and then couldn't move. This could also happen after a completion of defeating the enemies.
I wish the summoning part of the game had been something different, more in line with the action of the side-scroller. That part was quite good, escpecially with the nice rythm of the music.
@minjutin: That is the last level. But if you die by falling, you don't get the "You win" text. :)
@6knowledge: Haha, yes, I feel your pain. I agree. Maybe it would be not as irritating if one could choose to respawn at the previous place.
We got very stressed for time at the end.
@retrome : I'm getting some Flashbacks to Another World from your profile pic :)
Well done in just a weekend! Overall, very polished with intro, stats, menu! * \- I really don't like clicking the mouse button all the time. Auto-fire would have been nice. * \- I had some issues clicking the "continue button", but managed by clicking everywhere. * \- Hard to know what differs the target. The bad was easy to kill, but * \- The summoning mechanics was the weak point, and could have been more integral to the gameplay * \+ Cool to let us change day-night, even if the night was pretty black :) * \+ Double jump. Always have a double jump. :) * \+ Nice music loop and movement controls.
Cool game. At first I thought the combos needed the buttons pressed, which was hard, but then learned better. :)
Combos for summoning portals was pretty interesting, and worked really well. (Similar to our game where the combos are random letters)
Music was spot-on, but I missed some sound effects in-game. It was also a bit hard to see what was actually happening. There were blood splatter and enemies or friends all over the place. Didn't get a sense of what the strategy should be or when to avoid enemies.
The objects looked a bit floaty/pasted onto the background, but they were well-drawn!
Very nice! But unfortunately it got very laggy (~3fps at the end), and the end cutscene was just black, when I cleared the game. Good thing you added the "V" button, so I got to see it anyway. :)
Cute minions, nice intro animation, perfect music and sound effects, good gameplay. Almost perfection!
My one wish is that you could see how many minions you were supposed to gather for the summoning, when you went out in the wild to find them.
I also had some problems getting the minions to go into their circles.
This was more advanced than I thought. Lots of progression. Well done! Digging with mouse click felt a bit odd, but cool game!
I played as well as I could on laptop with trackpad. :) Realy nice game. Good work!
We did plan on doing two different difficulty modes. An easier one for single-player, but alas, time ran out and stuff had to be cut. One thing you can do, is make the most of your death with Shippy. Clear all those baddies with your shield, but be quick so it doesn't run out while shielding them to death!
Awesome graphics. :D
Nice music. Hard to remember what to bash those meat heads with. Some animations in the fight scenes would go a long way also. Pretty good job overall!
Good job making a complete game. Nice graphics. Quite easy to finish, but I bet you could add a level based system with increased difficulty, more weapons etc, next weekend. ;)
Haha, well. Can you win? I think the boss should yell "WORK" and "STOP" when you click, and the worker should respond in some way. It's hard to know if you told them to work or not.
