LD42 — Running out of space

CRUSHED - Rage Inducing Platformer by Ajay.2002 2018-08-12T20:23:57Z

Great confining space look and feel!

Claustrophobe by Gabsep 2018-08-12T20:01:16Z

Awesome game :D Possibly the best in this jam. Would love to see it explored further and transformed into a multi level game for Steam!

Unwelcoming islands by AlexKishchinskiy 2018-08-14T19:00:20Z

The game is a bit confusing... I win if I do nothing and most of the time loose if I start taking over the islands. I probably lack the understanding of the mechanics or the game is possibly buggy but either way I like the idea that I believe is behind it.

LD45 — Start with nothing

Paint Rush by Ekilibr 2019-10-09T18:56:49Z

Web version doesn't capture the controls so space throws you down the page instead of jumping but other than that a great game :D love everything about it

Tribal Offerings by Vladadamm 2019-10-11T19:39:10Z

I really like the idea and it's fun to play. I'm not certain if there is no end goal but I couldn't reach it which was something that I missed. I also hoped that after one of the tribes dies they would still reappear in a day or so at the location where there is the most of their resource type - did not happen. Other than that I really enjoyed playing it - this is for now the jam game that kept me playing the longest as it really pulls you in :)

Escape with nothing by TheOmelet 2019-10-11T20:35:50Z

@$162477 Yeah... The engine lacks compression for sound so it gets big quite fast. Didn't notice that until after the submission so something on the TODO list for the next jam :)

Escape with nothing by TheOmelet 2019-10-11T20:40:03Z

@someone I was surprised at how easy it is to use emscripten (minus the time that it took me to figure out that you are supposed to new everything in main and then let it exit so that the browser can take over... not something you'd expect in C++). Other than the main function the rest of the engine is the same for PC and web version so the people working on that project did a really great job.

Escape with nothing by TheOmelet 2019-10-11T20:57:19Z

@drtizzle Thx :) The game was meant to be different in the beginning but the cost of my own engine was that I spent too much time on that and in the end had to cut most of the gameplay just to get it out - amazing feeling finishing a jam game to the point of actually submitting it :) Next time I'll really try to focus more on the game part though :D

Escape with nothing by TheOmelet 2019-10-14T20:06:29Z

@oscar-henrique wasd should work (alternatively arrow buttons can be used but if the screen is too small down button will also move the screen). If it doesn't work try refreshing the page. Other than that I don't know what to say as nobody else mentioned that. What OS/browser are you using and also could you paste the output in the black console at the bottom of the page?

Escape with nothing by TheOmelet 2019-10-15T18:19:26Z

@oscar-henrique I tried it in latest Chrome under Win7 and it seems to work fine. You've copied only the patrial output but it also looks as if everything loads as expected. Sorry but I can't say what's wrong...

LD46 — Keep it alive

Father dies At The End by nahual 2020-05-02T19:59:23Z

For me the intro scene was a bit long but interesting (but it's annoying that you can't skip it on the second and consecutive runs). The music/sound is also nice. Unfortunately I couldn't test the game as on Linux/Firefox after the intro/when music starts, you just get a black screen.

The Weeny's Quest by Tropos 2020-04-24T13:55:57Z

I'm overall impressed with the game - both graphics and mechanics are really fun. I really liked the preventing the chase while at the same time steering the character with the same mechanics.

The Scary Job by Mikabrytu 2020-04-24T13:24:29Z

Nice game :) I'm just missing a mechanics that would lead me towards the broken locations - I might be missing something but I was aimlessly wondering around the mansion.

Blob Guardian by TheOmelet 2020-04-22T09:41:20Z

@cjm Yeah :) I'm using it for a while now and in my code only the 10-20 lines of main.cpp/web_main.cpp file differ between Linux native and web build (took me a while to figure out that you are supposed to heap allocate everything in main() and then return from it back when I started using it in ldd 43... but from then on it was always smooth sailing (I'm even using a custom experimental Clang compiler with Emscripten without a problem). Nice to see a fellow experimenter :)

Blob Guardian by TheOmelet 2020-04-22T09:44:08Z

@barrier. @flying-dog-fish Yeah... I once again allocated too much time to engine dev/testing part and too little to game dev part... I never got to draw the second version of non-placeholder graphics and lost my will to create more maps once I had to place everything for the first one in the code (gui editor for my engine is the main TODO for the next jam). For next ldd I'll be more prepared and game focused :)

Blob Guardian by TheOmelet 2020-05-04T08:43:26Z

@keppu The trampolines only work if the blob falls on it and has no effect while walking. Thx for the feedback, I should've added a hint.

Blob Guardian by TheOmelet 2020-05-04T08:44:54Z

@hiro-e There's only one level as I was building it without a visual editor (code only) so in the end I couldn't get myself to create more levels for this jam.

The Land I Live On by Danilo Freire 2020-05-09T20:14:47Z

I liked the graphics but for some reason the "legacy of kain soul reaver" style of camera always causes me to want to vomit... Don't know why (my guess is that it has to do with not being able to focus my eyes on a static point) and it's probably not common for others but just a hint that such cameras in games can be problematic for some of us.

Anthill Death by hllrm 2020-04-21T21:53:58Z

I like the game :) The mouse clicking part makes it a bit hectic - I've played it at night in the dark so it took me a while to re-adjust fingers on the keyboard every time I had to use the mouse - but that was probably what you were going for :)

Lights Out by Batswinger 2020-04-24T15:42:57Z

This games atmosphere is great! I initially didn't notice that the light was shrinking as I always grabbed additional fuel while exploring - an indicator would be nice as it felt that the light was dimming slowly and then towards the end it went out really fast (but it might be my imagination once noticing and rushing to find the next fuel :D). I also expected that I'd have to scare the eyes away by turning towards them so that might be a nice addition (but to be honest the mood rely great even without that so not certain if it'd help). I expected that the labirint is random generated but fortunately that wasn't the case - it would become a random walk... - so I managed to beat it in two tries :) Nice work :)

Bluebird by cjm 2020-04-22T12:44:58Z

Nice little game :) I just miss something like hawks chasing you and you outsmarting them mechanics as the catching flies becomes a bit repetitive and not that challenging. Btw I wouldn't try this game if it weren't for you commenting on my game as I usually don't try out the games that aren't web hosted - I'd say that since you already have a web build not hosting it somewhere is a missed opportunity.

Coxless Dirible - In 72 hours around the World! by fachscahfttf 2020-04-21T21:23:16Z

It took me a while (even after going through the tutorial twice) to grasp how the game is supposed to be played and in the end it bugged out on me (character could no longer walk around the ship) towards the end of the run. On the other hand it immediately reminded me of Overcooked and I'd say that this game would be fun to play in coop mode with some more polish. Nice work!
