Awesome idea, wish it was a little longer though
Very cool game, loved the lovecraftian undertones!
@msduo13 Thanks! So I started with something else in mind, but then ran into problems and ended up going for this voxely, colorful style. The square screen is part of the original idea. I thought about changing it later on, but then ran into issues with the balancing, so that's that. Thanks for playing, and thanks for the feedback. The depth meter is a nice idea too, I'll look into it later on.
@gd60jace I thought about implementing mobile controls, but it would take too long to make (GMS1 is severely limited in this regard). I think it'd be cool to have tilt controls though!
@thatmanrobin thanks for playing! My record is around 200m, but it took me a while to get there. I'd definitely enjoy something like this as a loading screen game too!
Very cool game! Digging gets a bit tiresome though when you have to press the same button like five times to break the rock. I think it'd be cooler if you could break rocks with one or two hits.
Cool game! I have no idea what I'm doing, but in regards to style it looks and sounds awesome.
Very cool concept, but I found moving around the game and interacting with stuff quite hard. It's a great idea though, you should keep working on it!
Very nice little game! You should keep working on it! Impressive stuff for a jam, IMO.
Incredible art style! Please keep working on this!
Outstanding work! Love the art style and the gameplay.
Very interesting take, and very fun!
Love the art style! Very unique!
@kadokta it was, in fact, not working. I've reuploaded it on itch. Hope you enjoy!
Interesting use of the theme. Also, always great seeing fellow UE developers working the engine within the time constraints of a jam. Great job!
Love how stylish it is! Wish it was longer, though I'm aware of the struggles of making long games in jams. You should definitely keep working on it though.
Very cool game!
Outstanding art style! Lots of fun as well. I'll be revisiting this one!
Very cool! Spent about an hour playing it nonstop. You should keep working on it!
Kinda hard, but very fun! Also, gotta love tardigrades <3
Super cool game! Loved the voice acting, and the enemies remind me of Gauntlet!
Very beautiful game. I can't quite place it, but it gave me SEGA 32X vibes! Impressive work withing the time constraints of a jam.
Great use of the theme, and lots of fun for such a simple mechanic. Cheers!
Very cool concept!
Very impressive for a jam game! I wish it controlled a little better though. It felt kinda floaty, but otherwise, many kudos!
Game looks incredible for a jam title! Really hope you keep working on it!
Very interesting idea! Hope you keep working to flesh it out!
Not a big fan of jumpscares, but big fan of tardigrades. Keep up the good work!
Incredible art style! Gameplay felt a little too... unwieldy, but otherwise great work!
Very cool execution. Please, keep working on it!
Cool game, but maybe a little too challenging? Either way, very nice!
Very nice! Love the art style!
Love the art style! You should keep working on it!
Awesome work from a fellow Unreal dev, it seems. Keep up!
Very cool game. Lost track of time playing it. 10/10
Very cool! Love the art style
This is awesome! Neraly made a hole in one in level 3. Some really tense moments too when trying to aim under fire.
Whoa, this is some serious work for only 72 hours. The dialogue volume is a bit "everywhere", but considering that it even has voiceovers is just amazing. Just stunning.
Love the music! What engine did you use?
I want more.
Simply amazing. You guys should invest in this game. Make a full version or something.
Game: I found it quite fun to play, if a bit too hard on combat and a bit too easy on the whole taxi thing. I guess adding lateral movement would go a long way towards allowing the player to dodge and return fire. The view felt maybe a bit zoomed in, too. Backing the câmera away when the cab speeds up (like in GTA1) would perhaps fix that. Graphics: Parallax forever <3 Audio: I thought it was a bit too moody. Felt like a cab driver in a cataclism or something. Needs more Offspring :P
Spat water all over my keyboard when one of the hags walked over the puddle and fell. 10/10
Can't wait to play this with my girlfriend. Still, super fun with the AI opponent
Awesome concept, though it could have used some more polish. I found it pretty hard to multitask, though I can't think of a better way to mix up the elements onscreen.
This looks just amazing. It's a bit heavy, though. Still, love the art style and the music!
@CosmicGem Oh, sorry. English isn't my first language. I mean It's kinda slow, as if the PC is struggling to run it. Though it might just be my crappy computer giving up the ghost at this point
Awesome art style. The tall dude gave me a legit scare!
Just keep going. Game jams are the best place to learn how to scope your project.
Very cool concept in an era when couch gaming is nearly gone.
Awesome work. I just wish it had some parallax on the background, and maybe a life bar. One-hit K.O.s ended up making me give up on the game, though I did reach a key at one point.
Nice work! Reminds me of the edutainment software of yore.
Awesome job, dude! Entertainer is always win/win. Making pixel art work in 3D is always a challenge, and you seem to have got it quite well. Also, I love the game loop. Feels like playing something on the NES or the Master System, with the screen scrolling quickly to the next part of the level when you reach the doors (people think of Zelda, but many games did this at the time). I'd put a little more variation in the cards, I guess. Maybe some with wacky effects. As of now, they just seem to be a stand-in for a gun. Other than that, I found it quite fun to play.
Dat dithering <3 I like how well balanced this is. Great game!
Lack of content is a very popular genre these days. Can't wait for the first DLC.
Thowing enemies around is always a fun time.
Addicting! My score on Normal is 158982. I guess it plays a lot better on the controller too, since I kept losing track of which key was which on the keyboard. I'll also be taking a look at the source. Lots of stuff to learn here :D
I love the look of the game. Really into those retro or retro-looking camera effects, which you seem to achieve with an ortho camera. Painting in games is always a fun time, too.
@La-mecanique-du-plastique Thanks for the feedback! I got both of those bugs during testing. You can get the ship back by getting it offscreen, though it is a pain. As for the ghosts, they were supposed to die when they hit the "puff" effect, but that just doesn't work and I'm not sure why :(
@Solnak thanks for the feedback. That was the general idea, though with time I would like to have added more platforming elements, maybe enemies to jump over or something. Also, the ship was not supposed to "walk" on the floor, but I couldn't figure out a way to do that without messing up the jump.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone <3 @blobo It was our first time making animations, so that really means a lot!
@nina I patched the game yesterday to make it a little more fair. Bees are easier to go around and shoot in the back, but now you have a better chance even if you die near them. Ghosts can no longer trap you, though. Let me know if you give it another go, please :D
@FredricW Thanks again for the feedback. Those animations were also a pain to implement. The carrot has three states, for instance, and figuring out the perfect timing was a lot of trial and error. Im generally not a fan of anything "flappy" either, but I felt it was necessary to make our platformer side of the game work out. It's a ship that jumps, after all. I just wish I had more time to make platforming levels and enemies with it.
@ROBOWARRIOR1982 and @NerdyTea I just uploaded a patch to make it harder to softlock the game. The ship object was already supposed to kill a bee in contact, but I changed it to the smoke, which has a longer animation cycle. It seems to be working now. Thanks for the feedback!
@freso It is indeed quite easy to reach the end by just "flying above the level", like in Super Mario World. However, you won't be scoring any points this way ;~; Getting all the coins can be quite a challenge, since bees tend to provide covering fire for the carrots, and once those reach your x position on the screen, they're gone. Either way, thanks for playing, and I'm glad everyone seems to be liking the game :D
@paulhocker and @HPMNK thank you for your feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the game :)
@Kristian David Thanks for the feedback! The ship was made slower on the ground because it was making the game too easy, and also there were supposed to be some more uses for the player on foot (think of switches, etc), so the idea was to make the ship non-optimal for ground movement. The very first release had it "sliding" over ground, and it looked really bad :P Otherwise, I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
@Yetman Thanks for giving it another shot :D
Fun game to play, though I stopped playing twice due to the jump just glitching and sending me offscreen. The music is great!
