LD39 — Running out of Power

Shut Everything Down by Skosnowich 2017-08-12T18:10:14Z

Surprisingly well put backstory, I really felt for our hero! The gameplay was good and challenging in the puzzle field, although I sometimes felt like I could brute-forse my way to the robots without all the tactical stealthy stuff.

Oh, and loved the graphics!

Solar Digger by Rialgar 2017-08-11T03:47:33Z

I must say digging games are my favourite, so I felt myself at home with this one. Nice, sweet, laconic and addicting. I'd only suggest a couple of pacing tweaks (maybe speed up the overall process), and of course I'd love to see an enhanced version with new tiles/valuables and upgrade modules :)

Tiny Wiring by Domantas 2017-08-12T18:23:31Z

Simplistic, but pretty enjoyable. The absolute bare minimum pixels used to convey an idea - that's great art design, if you ask me. I'd maybe suggest some quality of life improvements, like a speed up button for the hero and indicators for clickable objects, maybe a light-up sprite or a border when you put the mouse cursor over.

Blasphemy! by FelixMcFelix 2017-08-10T04:16:57Z

Neat, minimalistic and insanely hard. I've never been good at this particular kind of games, demanding of skill and precision, but surprisingly I found myself trying again and again until I finally succeeded. I'd maybe suggest making the main hero stand out a bit more visually.

Despot 3900 by alxm 2017-08-11T03:09:50Z

A great game that teaches us one and only cold, hard truth: you can't be liked by everyone. And, maybe, that being a tyrant is a rewarding thing. And that wars can be highly profitable. Huh, that actually makes a lot of hard, cold truths...

Any case, I simply loved the humor and the management, and your take on "running out of power" is absolutely brilliant.

Rise Shine Fall by ijona 2017-08-20T17:36:10Z

Heal The Dark Lord! by Coauctor 2017-08-20T18:50:52Z

Spectacular game - smooth, innovative and visually gorgeous. I loved mixing ingredients and giving stuff to the demon, the flavor text was really clever and fun.

The only issue I had was accidentally kicking ingredients too far at times. Oh, and I panicked and didn't know what to do when the big boss was having a heart attack, so I rushed straight to him and clicked a few ~~dozen~~ times. I guess it helped, so... no worries? :)

Great job all around guys! From Russia with love <3

GREED by NORRIMO 2017-08-10T05:22:45Z

A bit too confusing, but maybe that's because I can't quite catch the developer's line of thought. But the visuals! The style, the atmosphere! Simply otstanding.

Orcs in Space by atridas 2017-08-10T17:56:26Z

So cute and nostalgic I just can't. I'd love to see more playable units, the minimalistic approach suits them perfectly. I finished it on my second try, but the first failure was undeniably ny fault, so no objections on that part.

Surge by machinescreen 2017-08-20T18:38:36Z

Nice little game, although it could benefit from a slightly higher player speed. That's why I wanted to place my pylons right next to one another, but my character preferred to refill them rather than construct new ones.

But it doesn't matter, the game was really fun, and that's the most important thing. Oh, and those sneaky bug-like creatures were really cute, too!

Thermal Power Plant K-13 by Finlal 2017-08-20T17:13:58Z

Rocket Bow by xykvy 2017-08-15T05:35:51Z

Very fun concept, nice art and sound design. I played for quite a while despite not having a clear goal. Simple, yet great at its core!

As far as suggestions go, maybe you could add a visual cue for a charged attack? And maybe a small fee for each shot, let's say around 2-3 energy, to discourage spamming attacks and reward smart positioning.

Electronic Supremacy by damdoshi 2017-08-10T04:03:21Z

Very addicting and rewarding. To be honest, I was kinda surprised to see a game so rich mechanics-wise made for a mere 72-hour jam. The theme blended in seamlessly, and balance felt just right.

Every Light Goes Out by sbeif 2017-08-10T19:50:39Z

I guess we have a winner in the "Innovation" category! Had to switch to laptop for this one - it has a webcam, so even with the latest hotkey option added, I went for the authentic experience with a lighter.

The labyryth itself was fun to navigate through, and even the graphics were nice (when I had a chance to see them, hah). Great job all around, this is my favorite LD39 project by far!

Corrupted by Shess 2017-08-12T00:47:55Z

Thank you for your awesome feedback, @kiirohanabi! I'm happy you liked the game.

We are currently making tweaks to the overall balance and expecting a track from a composer, so the post-jam version will hopefully be better in that regard. Stay tuned ^^

Light-Eater by prettylucky 2017-08-10T05:01:57Z

Great art and atmosphere, I enjoyed it immensely. It would definitely benefit from a story mode and a definite narrator. Keep up the good work!

Turn Out by Vovin 2017-08-10T19:01:37Z

Superb puzzle game, higly reminiscent of some of the coolest java apps I had on my phone. Would love to see more of it, more levels and mechanics. So far I streamed the game for my friends and we had a great time solving the puzzles. Kudos for the level design!

Plugzzz by mamoniem 2017-08-10T18:26:42Z

So simple, yet so infatuating. And it was made in a day, give or take a few hours? Unbelievable. The graphics and shading are impeccable. Loved it.

Out of Power by cpv 2017-08-10T19:43:12Z

Farewell, space key, it was an honor to have you. The game was fun, though I didn't feel I was much of a participant (well, except for pumping the damn generator), still I rooted for the guy until the end.

The graphics were kinda uncanny in a way, but pretty neat non the less. Voxel Surgeon Simulator ftw!

From the Shadows by MaybeLaterx 2017-08-10T20:58:21Z

Great game, one of those easy to learn/hard to master types, demanding of strategic thinking. It looks sweet and stays true to the jam theme. I think I encountered a few input bugs, but nothing game-crashing.

Asteroid Miner by Roka Josh 2017-08-19T11:41:31Z

Nice game, fluid controls and great music. I accidentally destroyed precious minerals on several occasions, but that's really interesting gameplay element, so no objections. Good job!

INKrease by bsymon 2017-08-10T04:54:34Z

One of those ganes you try for a minute or two and then wake up after solid 10-20 minutes of pure fun. The graphics are nice, the flow is perfect, the title is puntastic. The theme isn't reflected much, in my opinion, but oh well. Overall enjoyment makes up for it greatly.

Bunker at Day Zero by sean.beyer 2017-08-11T03:00:10Z

Tight and intense, I had to restart a couple of time to craft myself "a better start" but in the end my absolute best was 11 days. Well, tough luck, I'll definitely keep trying.

Loved the minimalistic graphics and writing. Good stuff!

LDJAM39: Power Brawler League by Andreu 2017-08-10T20:16:18Z

Innocently looking game that turns into absolute beast when it comes to its core gameplay. I just can't have enough at it. As far as suggestions go, do you think you could add some kind of "king-of-the-hill" mode with several players/bots? Pure madness. Pure fun.

And thanks for the controller support!

Despotism 3k by NikolayKuznetsov 2017-08-20T17:56:18Z

Drain by morphine 2017-08-10T05:08:44Z

Beautiful, immersive and intriguing. I was lost for a moment at the very beginning, but eventually it was easy to catch the flow. The theme is implemented flawlessly, and the overall mood is one of the best I've seen here so far, if not THE best.

Danger Forever by BLK Dragon 2017-08-10T05:18:03Z

I fully admit I have a sweet spot for decent graphics, but this game was actually very fun to play aside from its gorgeous visuals! I warped through the objects one or two times, but other than that I had zero technical problems.

It'll really be great to see it become a full game one day, so please gimme moar of this good stuff :3

Greenhouse Dystopia by DeadlyAlive 2017-08-10T18:01:02Z

Fun and stylish, definitely challenging, and maybe a part of it is due to controls. But the art and music made up for it (yeah, I know I shouldn't probably rate the music, but dear god was it nice!)

Stalker/Lovecraftian monster design is what sold the game for me, personally.

Dynasty Through The Decades by Jamie McClenaghan 2017-08-19T11:59:45Z

Fun, engaging and absolutely hilarious. Had to take a few gambles here and there, but on the whole it felt pretty manageable. Or is it my love for tyranny and imperialistic dictatorship speaking?

I'd gladly rate you on graphics though. Programmer art = best art!

Dissipate by DeinVenteD 2017-08-10T19:38:15Z

Great example of simplistic design done right. I played it solo (haha, poor me) and its rather slow speed was perfectly fine for that matter, so I always felt I had enough time for decision making.

Till the last spin by KiiroHanabi 2017-08-10T18:36:45Z

Woah, that was a heavy experience if I ever had one... The rhythm component was fluid and masterfully done, yet I couldn't shake off that uneasy feeling I got from the storyline. So - props to the developer, your narrative design is awesome!

The Dying of the Light by Winterslice 2017-08-10T20:47:26Z

Absolutely breathtaking. The narrative was engaging, the low-poly graphics were solid and consistent, and gameplay-wise it was smooth and polished. So much production value it's almost unbelievable.

I completed the game twice and ended up showing it to a friend, translating the text on the run. So I know it's a minor suggestion, but could you please concsider adding subtitles? :)

Space Power Defender by EdwinGameDev 2017-08-10T03:58:58Z

Sweet little game, was a bit too hard in 1.0 version, but now it's pretty balanced for its concept. The power banks are more of a classic life units, really, but I guess the theme still checks out.

Maze Escape by Akerspoket 2017-08-10T04:39:10Z

A nice game, though could definitely use a bit of polish. The halloween-ish font was barely readable, and the soundtrack was more annoying than menacing. Still, it was suspenseful enough to make me want to turn the lights on :)

Spacesquid Spaceship by Nezumi Games 2017-08-10T04:45:42Z

Good god, what a game! I know it was said before, but the graphics are just stunning. The gameplay on itself was addicting as hell, and the later tweaks just made it better and more friendly (before that, I was kinda tempted to launch autoclick for the most intense sections). In the end, somehow I found myself wanting more of this game, both in pure length and variety.

Five Stages by SonicGrey 2017-08-10T04:09:22Z

A competent, thought-provoking game, but I must admit I found it hard even after the difficulty tweaks. I'd suggest an active pause button so you could read all the texts (maybe it's just me, but I do love texts in games), so the players won't feel like they have to sacrifice an essential part of the game to complete it.

Last chance to Mars by xMiwah 2017-08-10T21:57:17Z

Four tries, finally made it by the skin of my teeth. Finding the best strategy for resourse management was the key part, but I think it's fun in and of itself, so replayability is also strong in this one. Good work.

PRAY FOR TESLA by slovnoslomo 2017-08-20T20:20:41Z

Interesting gameplay, neat graphics, but maybe a bit too hard to get started. I take it that you were possibly after that clean, smooth feel from mobile apps, wordless and simplistic; still, I think this time the whole deal went too obscure. In game tutorial would be nice, of course.

I was getting a bit frustrated, not knowing why the game wouldn't let me place the turrets where I wanted them, and only *after that* I understood that pale purple shades in the background were actually obstacles. And even now, after wave 12, I'm *still* unsure how you should turn the amplifier and does its angle matter at all.

Well, enough of nitpicking. The game was good, and you should feel good. Congrats!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Permanence by stevenjmiller 2017-12-08T14:56:21Z

Pretty impressive game with edge and purpose. The art is clean and sharp, and the background effects were a nice addition. Perfect ambient, as well! At first it was kinda unusual to have the character rotate before straight up going in the direction I wanted, but you get used to it pretty soon. One of the best in the "mood" category for sure.

Charge Arena by PurpleAlien 2017-12-08T15:22:14Z

My, what an outstanding game! Quick, fun, pretty and 100% on the mark of the current theme. I must admit the control scheme could be more challenging than my opponents (and sometimes I unconsciously reverted to pushing X to shoot), but I guess that's just part of the fun. Thank you!

Dangle Copter by pkenney 2017-12-08T10:41:35Z

Nice game indeed! Awesome control scheme and its graphical representation. The first levels were easy enough, but the latter ones definitely put my precision skills to test. And the kids' simplistic yet expressive faces was what sealed the deal for me :D

Rokku Bando by Yanrishatum 2017-12-08T10:26:53Z

Thank you for your report @fangzhangmnm, we'll look into it.

Rokku Bando by Yanrishatum 2017-12-08T15:40:43Z

@serval-games, I guess it corresponds to the theme: more instruments don't always mean better performance :) Nevertheless, thank you for the feedback. Next time we'll be sure to tune and combine tracks more seamlessly.

Cavern Breakout by jandourek 2017-12-24T14:27:50Z

Pretty interesting take on the theme and greed study :D I had to effectively drop all of my hogging habits and make one block at a time so the enemies were manageable.

That said, I personally found skeleton's random pattern attack much more difficult to cope with than if he'd always aim straight at me. Maybe that's because the piercing effect his attacks have, so I never ever felt safe if any skeletons were on the level.

Oh, and sometimes my character got stuck between the blocks after a jump or if I placed a block too close to him. That's not a big problem per se, and I can always restart the level quickly, but I think it could be fixed with a couple of collision improvements :)

Horny Bunny by Thomas FUentes 2017-12-08T16:11:48Z

Hilarious and surprisingly expressive! I could never ever thought of this idea theme-wise in my entire life, but it kinda makes sense, if you think about it... and even more so if you don't. Intuitive gameplay, solid sound design and fluid animation - this is almost too good to be true :D

Don't Be Rash by Cosmic Adventure Squad 2017-12-08T09:09:57Z

Dear god, this is hilarious! A bit gross... but hilarious. The tips were nice, and the upbeat music suited the gameplay perfectly. Great game!

A simple man by edmond00 2017-12-08T15:34:14Z

A surprisingly engrossing game that reminded me of my very first day in Terraria, when I knew nothing about the [game] world, and every step was an exploration wonder. So I don't think the procedural generation was just a funny gimmick to go with it; I believe it really added to the narrative and overall mood.

Core walking part could be a bit more concise, but other than that - beautiful, beautiful experience.

CTRL FRK by slovnoslomo 2017-12-08T08:45:47Z

Spectacular visuals and engaging gameplay, as always. It's a bit on the hard side, but it just proves the point. Thank you for this awesome experience!

Manage Your Stuff by Wobling 2017-12-08T10:25:20Z

Stylish and tasteful, and the inventory management part is really fun. I liked all the weapon types and honestly impressed you could pull them through in three days only! Mega laser gun is undoubtedly my favorite.

When things got tough I found myself relying more on hastily unloading the weapons rather than combining them. All in all I got to ~260 score and am planning to top that record :3

(MAAB) Mistakes Are Actually Bad by dimaswift 2017-12-24T15:08:35Z

What a spectacular game! I must admit I could only play it with my own sorry self, so it was a bit difficult at times, but I still had a lot of fun. Also, nice to see a fellow voxel artist here! I wish you best of luck on this LD.

Glutonny by Crock 2017-12-24T14:52:56Z

I must say I was sold on the title cover alone, and liked the concept behind the game as well. I think maybe music could be a bit more on the haunting ambient side? But this might be just my expectations speaking.

I also had a bug when I got stuck in the top-left corner. I got it when I continued to move after a game over, hope it helps!

Coffee Break by Akscan 2017-12-08T14:42:19Z

Nice visuals and overall gameplay. The whole deal with coffee hit right where it hurt the most :D So true, so true. At least I haven't overdosed myself with it in real life... yet.

I think a mild nature ambient would be a nice addition to the experience. Maybe you could even distort it according to current coffee levels - this way it could serve as an additional risk indicator.

Nice job!

LD42 — Running out of space

Writespace by blinry 2018-08-14T16:09:05Z

This is an aesthetic bomb. I absolutely love the visuals you chose, and the theme is implemented beautifully. Extra points for the sound design, the gentle typewriter clicks and dings did it for me!

Space Scrap! by Alex Lutay 2018-08-15T04:36:04Z

Stellar graphics and solid theme implementation! I think the font could benefit from one extra pixel in height (or an alternative font altogether)for usability/accessibility purpose.

I stumbled a bit in my first run, but after I caught the flow it was extremely enjoyable. Good job!

Edgy Fantasy Battle Deluxe by Shess 2018-08-18T18:03:10Z

Thank you for your kind words, everybody :)

Edgy Fantasy Battle Deluxe by Shess 2018-08-20T15:08:53Z

@dodoita Thanks for the feedback!

About difficulty, well, we made our previous game a bit too hard, so this time we focused on providing an overall lighthearted experience. This didn't stop some players, streamers included, from losing halfway, huh.

Well, I'm fine either way: and here I thought my "condition: defeat" dialogues would never be seen by anyone :D

Cutting Edge: Screensaver by kazuo256 2018-08-16T02:11:50Z

Beautiful concept, I can surely say I've never seen anything like it before! It kinda startled me the first time I saw the screen literally shrinking. The music blends beautifully, too. All in all, very dynamic and challenging experience, kudos to you guys.

Rainforest by SimoGecko 2018-08-14T16:14:07Z

Woah, this games stelas it in terms of visual design. Everything is so pretty and smooth! I actually liked the controls, they added to the overall feeling of struggle. To be honest, though, it's a kinda frightening look into the inner workings of storage and delivery companies :D

Ascending Assault by walnoot 2018-08-18T15:48:59Z

Sweet minimalistic game, very engaging. I really dig the graphics. Most impressive you managed to complete it all by yourself!

DE/VOID by randomphantom 2018-08-15T22:38:38Z

Beautiful game, nicely crafted and balanced. The motion is fluid, and the color palette is perfect for long playing sessions. Awesome job!

Who Z For Dinner by talisra22 2018-08-17T04:54:06Z

Great game, I really liked the aesthetics (I'm a huge low-poly/voxel fan myself). The first few waves could be cleared by just staying in one place, but then the action got real. Good job! Oh, and the music suits perfectly even if it's outsourced :)

MoodFood by DosWosh 2018-08-18T16:56:59Z

Wow, one of the most complex and polished games this time. The setting you managed to create in just a few strokes is unbelievably solid. The visuals are outstanding, too!

Sometimes the RNG gods weren't so kind to me but at this point I'm too invested to let go after one or two blunders. Awesome work!

Fuoco and Tenebra by Optimans 2018-08-14T17:10:27Z

Sweet artstyle and lighting, really captures this haunting, creepy atmosphere. For me, I guess it was a bit on the challenging side, because at one point the monster blocked ny route to the resources while simultaneously ramming into the fire. Arrgh! I should try one more time :3

Demonic Digestion by DodoIta 2018-08-18T17:05:23Z

God if it isn't one of the most gorgeous looking games I've seen so far. The visual style really speaks to me, complemented by the music and fluid gameplay. The roguelite progression system was really nice, as my first runs ended even before I met the giant skeleton. Oh, and good job with the skins, by the way!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Sword of Hearts by MSiddeek 2019-05-08T02:47:56Z

Great game with fluid and precise controls (I swear to god, almost nobody handles coyote time as well as you do!) The platformer elements are tight and fair, and I liked the animations a lot. I believe you made the music, too? Really nice melancholic ambient!

SPENDOTRON: 2019 by KilledByAPixel 2019-05-08T02:32:49Z

Perfect theme representation! You know, I'm notoriously bad at precise shooting, so in these type of games I'm mostly relying on half-hearted panicky scatter shots while I'm busy avoiding the danger. Well, this game surely taught me that every shot counts (no pun intended). Simple yet thrilling!

Vampire Drift by Shess 2019-05-21T01:02:43Z

@samlecreator Thank you so much for your feedback! We kinda bit off way more we could chew, but it's extremely satisfying to hear we managed to accomplish something ^^

Darkling by jordantanner 2019-05-21T00:12:31Z

Beautiful game. I must admit I had a bit of a hard time finding a valuable non-cheese strategy to survive the waves, but the gameplay just kept me engaged in the process for the whole time. This is what a real battlemage should feel like!

Snek Farm by t3nshi 2019-05-21T01:53:09Z

What a genre mix, and unbelievably cute at that! The snake is adorable. It's nice to see you made alternative maps, I think the second one is my favorite. Well done!

King's Alchemist by Vlad Dae 2019-05-08T02:23:06Z

Surprisingly fun! I cleared it without using blood so it was a bit challenging, but it was just the right amount of difficulty for the second playthrough when you already remember all the recepies and the order of requests. Good job!

Where There's Smoke by SamLeCreator 2019-05-21T00:09:09Z

Absolutely gorgeous, it's full of almost palpable atmosphere and creative vision. I'll be looking forward to more of your work!

Blood and goods by selewi 2019-05-08T02:28:07Z

I'll be completely honest with you, the graphics is so breathtaking I might have added a few stars here and there just by association. But the core gameplay loop was addictive and polished, too! Everything feels so organically... right. Right where it should be. One of the games I'd love to add to my personal collection, really.

Face to Death by pequenodev 2019-05-21T01:42:57Z

Nicely built, lighthearted and visually appealing! I checked the post-jam version, too, and there are a lot of serious QoL-improvements. Awesome job, guys!

Nice, fluid and relaxing. Exactly the type of game you play to ease up a bit after a full day of work. The graphics suited it so well, too! I found the sounds to be a bit on the loud side, and it would be great to have some sort of inventory ui, but other than that - thank you for a great game!

Dear Diary by Rodrigo Denúbila 2019-10-12T00:13:49Z

Personally, I'm a huge fan of this game. The direction choices reminded me of Dogville, with its outlines and two to three signifying objects per scene. The writing was concise and punchy, and the mystery definitely kept me up!

(I just saw you mentioned Dogville yourself, nice!)

Farm Fortress 2 by kroltan 2019-10-12T17:44:04Z

I always loved production chains, so this game hit just the right spot. I also love methodically placing buildings in the most optimized manner, so I hated the enemies with passion, especially if they dared to destroy my carefully organized village.

So far I managed to outlast 3 waves, but I won't give up here!

Beyond the Horizon by Shess 2019-10-12T17:58:06Z

@ciaranw @flying-dog-fish @netmute Thank you for the feedback and bug reports, we'll do our best to fix these issues as soon as possible!

Sadly, the Mac version often gets left out because we're all Windows gang here. We'll try to look into it in the future!

DesertTamer by svyatozar 2019-10-11T23:42:54Z

Nice game! I noticed the sound bugged out sometimes, and at one point my water count reached something like -50.000, yet I faced zero consequences... at least none I could pinpoint. Well, aside from that, this could become a pretty promising city builder with just a tad bit more love and care!

When Nothing Came by velvetlobster 2019-10-11T23:55:25Z

Dear God, your stylistic choices are absolutely impeccable, the art and music suit the game so well (although the music was a bit too loud for my taste). I've grown to love the writing, too, it was both gentle and melancholic. The game itself was pretty tough, so I streamed it for my friends and we beat it together!

Thank you for this experience.

Tale of the Toad King by Beebo Studios 2019-10-12T17:52:51Z

This was a genuine surprise for me! The art and sound (including the voice acting) are both very refined and quirky, the animations are fluid and full of life, and there's a pretty nice message there as well. I liked how you implemented the "followers" mechanic, too. Great game!

Inspiration. by F1Krazy 2019-10-12T00:01:16Z

Most adorable game with a hint of meta! I absolutely love the art style, it makes the world of the game work in these tiny dimensions just right. The texts were light and cheeky as well!

Millions of Minions by Mattabulous 2019-10-12T17:39:14Z

Wow, with this game I had my metaphorical ass handed right back to me. It was pretty hard indeed, the death was sudden and brutal, and sometimes I had to compensate for that with smart play around corners, trapping the enemy in the level geometry.

Brutal, hardcore, unforgiving yet deliciously evil!

Baryon Asymmetry by Flying Dog Fish 2019-10-11T23:48:09Z

Heyo, I liked your blog post, so it lead me here. I guess the most challenging and fun part for me was figuring out how to play the game and what goals to reach. So far I've found three endings (the "boring" one being my first, I shamefully admit), so I'm gonna keep trying! Your theme game is perfectly on point.

Nullefense by kipkat 2019-10-12T17:23:08Z

Oof, at first I was really worried something went wrong and was ready to send a bugreport, but fortunately everything was fine :D

I liked sfx and special effects you used on the font. The game was just tough enough to remain entertaining, but not too stressful. By the way, may I suggest you lock scrolling so I can zoom in and out without actually scrolling through the page? It concerns the html5 build, of course.

Hellion: The Legend of Jeff by Mad Brokli 2019-10-12T17:17:44Z

Insanely addicting! I found myself returning to it again and again after I told myself I already played enough to give it a rating. The art assets are nice, and the gameplay definitely tests your skills. I loved Jeff's design in particular!

Memories of Eleph by Leandroc 2019-10-12T00:08:33Z

It's unbelievable how smooth, polished and self-contained this game feels. It actually rivals a lot of published indie games quality-wise. I'm usually not very good with timers and limiters, but I think there they spiced the things up just the right bit.

Also, our main hero is ridiculously adorable.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep it Olive by Nicso 2020-04-23T09:52:39Z

This light-hearted art style really speaks with me, and I liked the overall humorous tone of the game a lot! The play on words was actually cute, too!

That guy by baylej 2020-04-23T10:02:43Z

The game that made me laugh the most so far! Very fluid and refreshing, and the visuals are enchantingly nice. Thank you for this little gem!

Mutual Survival by FudgeMcGroobs 2020-04-23T10:22:24Z

I was overrun pretty quickly the first few times, but I managed to adjust to the pace with time. The music was a bit too loud, but I understand that advanced options are often get left out when the deadline's coming. That was a great start, bro! Keep it up!

Morphology by Shess 2020-04-23T09:04:16Z

Wow, thank you for the feedback so far! It's insanely helpful and motivating!

@tobiasw Actually, the evolution path is determined by a couple of flags, but most important of them is your morphling's "mood"/"humanity" meter. The more you fill it out during regular stages, the more human-like the morph becomes in attempts to mimic you. It will also begin to share more of its emotions with you and even get lonely without interaction :)

Morphology by Shess 2020-04-23T10:59:17Z

@sharbelfs Thank you for the feedback. Death during scavenge was not a bug - a trip to the city takes 5 turns, and your morphling will keep losing health and satiety during that time. So please make sure you keep it fed while you gather resources!

Morphology by Shess 2020-04-23T11:00:08Z

morphology_x2.gif Also, here's a bonus gif for everyone who played our game so far. Thanks a lot!

Morphology by Shess 2020-04-27T13:32:21Z

@krakadushka Hello! Tbh this is the first time we're encountering this bug. Could you provide a bit more system info? For example, if you're using mac/linux that we didn't quite account for, there could be unexpected issues.

Tale of a Little Guardian by Morg 2020-04-23T10:38:05Z

I've played a newer version of the game, so I perhaps didn't see many of the bugs mentioned here, but the game seemed pretty solid and smooth to me. And I know this is nothing new, you must've heard it dozens of times already, but: the art it OUTSTANDING. No, really. This isn't even jam level, I'd LOVE to buy a game like this on steam. Please keep making awesome games like this!

Keep the light alive by MaximBegunov 2020-04-23T10:12:28Z

Solid puzzle design right there! After I tried creating puzzles on my own, I really came to appreciate the thought and effort it takes to balance levels the way you did. Great job! Also, I still felt a bit uneasy during my run, so the horror aspect definitely got through!

The Call of the Unicore by sndr 2020-04-23T10:18:29Z

What the heck, how can a game be this adorable! Of course the art is gorgeous, but I especially appreciate narrative and stylistic integrity you managed to keep to the very end. Exciting, very replayable and enjoyable!

Bonfire by PapriGames 2020-04-23T10:16:10Z

The atmosphere is on point with this one. I'm a huge fan of low-poly graphics and minimalistic aesthetics, there's no denying that, but the colors you used and subtle effects you added really put this entry on a whole new level. The controls felt smooth, too! Beautiful.

Bunny Plague by Malai 2020-04-23T09:47:21Z

God, that was adorable! I liked the floaty physics most, it makes it feel like we're fighting moon rabbits in space :D Really neat sound choices, too.

Hungy Hungy Dwagons by cheesepencil 2020-04-23T10:24:46Z

Nice, I really dig this retro-stylistic and all the whimsical effects you added to the dragons! Your sound game was on point, huge respect for that!

The Last Guardian by civmaniac 2020-04-23T10:31:26Z

Adorable game with consistent art style and clear gameplay! It was very enjoyable to keep my Tree strong and healthy, and even the enemies didn't evoke hate. Positive vibes all the way through!

Cthulhu: The Cult Must Not Die by LaserPanzerWal 2020-04-23T09:57:15Z

Wow, you've really nailed it in the aesthetic department if you ask me! The game looks unbelievably good, and I enjoyed your take on what it feels like to represent a cult. Just a few QoL and feedback touches, and this is destined to be a solid Steam game!

Keep Us Alive by Aroma 2020-04-23T10:51:32Z

Bwahahaha, this is truly Mahou Shoujo of the end! What a brilliant take on the genre! The art is perfect, and the gameplay came with a huge twist I could NOT expect in this lifetime. Awesome job!

Keep. The. Spike. Alive. by K4V0X 2020-04-23T10:09:27Z

At firts I've struggled with the controls a bit, but the art and gameplay potential made me push forward (for which I'm really grateful!) The slimes were dangerously cute :3

LD49 — Unstable

St. Eugene the Resolute by bwalter 2021-10-05T01:45:34Z

It's ridiculously fun - exactly what I needed to unwind after this jam. The goat _rocks_, and oh god. Mood. A perfect game to celebrate the end of the insane crunch!

Viole(n)t Cooking by Shess 2021-10-05T02:30:00Z

Heyo, thanks for your feedback! If you need to restart the game, you can do so from the [Reset] button in the settings menu (the same magical flying book that contained the recipe/tutorial).

They way we decided what ingredient contains what element was a bit random, but... for example, mushrooms are considered to be neither flora no fauna, yet sometimes - sort of both, and this is what we went with. Also, all things that could even vaguely be connected to tentacles, were.

Viole(n)t Cooking by Shess 2021-10-05T15:53:01Z

Sorry, the "Game Over" transition was one of those things that didn't make it into the final version ^^ We were literally counting seconds there, no joke.

Reliance (Working Title: ~Generating Cosmic Forces by Eric Schmiel 2021-10-05T01:49:53Z

Ohhh, _that_ kind of unstable, huh? I was hoping to see more of this kind, thank you for creating this haunting experience. Sure, it wasn't "fun" in any sort of literal sense, yet it still gets top marks from me because it was weirdly engaging. Wait, am I projecting? Maybe I am.

I wish you had a chance to write more replies, of course. And maybe some mid-cases, too?

Everything is Fine by Noire 2021-10-05T02:07:40Z

Simply spectacular. That very kind of "unstable" I personally was hoping for, delivered responsibly and tastefully. Beautiful work that will stay for you longer than most.

Dank Brew of the High Mage by John Luke Lusty 2021-10-05T01:57:45Z

Unstable concoction! Ahaha, that was our first thought as well. Awesome execution, and you have a good sense of humor, too!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Please Don't Date Me by Shess 2022-04-05T01:21:45Z

Hey @crychair, thank you for your response! Yeah, by picking the least favorable options it's possible to stall for long enough to get the "player" to drop the game, which I consider a good ending. Although the "bad" ending (which is actually a happy ending in the in-game world) and the secret ending are pretty cheerful, too ^^

Perseverance by ql28 2022-04-05T01:54:37Z

Oh wow, greetings from another text-heavy game developer! Although yours is definitely heavier, in more ways than one. I actually failed almost at the very start (guess I didn't hold SPACE for long enough), and then I failed again because I kept shaking one button, like it told me to do, until the next one appeared, and my clicked might've not registered well. And then I failed because I let go too early. Am I the one at fault? Or is it psychological warfare against the player? I'm starting to think that might be true. Just what do you want from me, game?!

~~It reminds me of the all toxic relationships I had in the past.~~

I lasted enough to at least pass the calculus bit, and then I believe I failed the QTE because I panicked and needed to look at the keyboard. And after that, because I used both of my hands to hold keys and ran out of fingers to click on yet another button. Arggh!

So, among the bugs I noticed, sometimes the '15+7-1' field doesn't clear, so when I click on it and type, I get 'answer21', which of course doesn't register and makes me fail. Sometimes the 'shake' and the 'hold space' options trigger a bad end even if I'm doing everything as told. Sometimes I'm not sure what the rules are: should I let go of 'space' to click on the next button? Should I avoid shaking it over other buttons? I'll investigate more.

At least the narrator believes in me and is proud of me.

Miss Bunny & Mr le Sheep by Garymarance 2022-04-05T12:54:02Z

Ohh, the art is gorgeous, and the narrative is honestly haunting, in a good way! I was never good with choosing the lesser of two evils, so this game really put my everything to the test. Also, brilliant writing!

Tartarus Panic by AceArcher 2022-04-05T01:27:46Z

Ohh, I remember your early blog posts, they were actually the first thing I saw when I checked the site to learn of this jam theme! Damn, you've progressed a lot. Also, what a take on the premise, huh? As a huge fan of darker themes, I enjoyed your vision thoroughly.

Heal me, please! by Andrey_Zhukov 2022-04-05T13:03:33Z

It was a hilarious game, and even though I was relatively lucky in the first half, starting from maybe patient 6 was an insane juggle of cures and poisons :D Awesome graphics, by the way. The modular system created so much variety with a handful of assets, and every shape is distinct and pleasant to the eye.

Cards of Life by TheMiSta92 2022-04-10T14:13:51Z

Awhh, just how cute can this game be. I mean, it still whooped my ass (I barely lasted till mid-twenties on my most successful run, I really should try again), but I loved the micro-scenarios this game generates. Sure, sometimes choices aren't that streamlined or even get repeated, but hey, I tried learning programming several times irl, too :D The art is impossibly adorable.

Carrot Grove by Ehon 2022-04-10T14:02:30Z

Whoaa, this is both a narrative masterpiece AND quite a sight for sore eyes. It amazes me how you managed to put so much work into the project under the strict time constrains. The world feels so alive and so vast it honestly makes me want to see the post-jam development of the project.

Mr. Psychologist by Arthemy 2022-04-05T14:29:21Z

Big mood. I tried my best, but sometimes our best is not enough T_T The whole state/transition system is fantastic, seriously, the atmosphere here is palpable. The writing was witty, too!

Persist Ant by rynsy 2022-04-05T01:33:37Z

Oh wow, you even made an introductory cutscene! The art is cute, and the ant is even cuter. My first run ended tragically when I fell beneath the trail of spikes and died in a corner, but once I got a hold of the controls, it went significantly smoother. Have you considered making a floaty camera that follows the ant and tries to keep him more or less in the center of the screen? I think that might've helped with tricky navigation in a few scenes. I'd understand if you DIDN'T want to make it easier though :D

LD52 — Harvest

Harveyster by Almax 2023-01-10T20:54:20Z

Incredibly satisfying. Cutting stuff felt good, so good in fact that I spent the first round running around ignoring the crows and harvesting my own unripe green sprouts lol Honestly, I don't know what physics model you used for the crops, but it's just, oomph, chef's kiss.

I appreciated the implementation of "stamina", too, since it allows for more strategizing during combat instead of mindless button-mashing. A beautiful entry all around.

Flavors of Victory by Kyrio 2023-01-15T10:17:11Z

An incredibly entertaining game that put a smile on my face thanks to its sheer cheekiness :3 The graphics is right on the crossroads between wholesome and haunting (reminds me of early 2000s cartoons), and the music was RIDICULOUSLY good. I mean, seriously, what the hell, that's pro tier!

I know you probably had to cut a lot of corners, working in such a tight time frame (I understand the pain of it all too well, trust me), but the final result is still amazing, so please don't worry about it!

Goblin Sylvester the Mighty Harvester by Shess 2023-01-10T00:41:01Z

Hey hey! Just a heads up, BOTH links are now fixed and synced (I low-key screwed up while the LD site was crumbling under heavy pressure), and so the game description is updated, finally.

Blood Harvest by Efilheim 2023-01-10T20:29:06Z

A pretty enticing game that has it all - platforming, fighting, stealth and watching your life meter deplete slowly while you contemplate your choices. I died quite a few times, but that's because my preferred tactic is going all in and throwing myself on enemies where it's CLEARLY not the right strategy here. On the other hand, I outhopped a few of them and felt pretty good about myself :3

The graphics were extremely pleasant to the eye. I was afraid that scanlines might affect visibility in motion, but nope, you get used to them immediately. All those other special effects thrown on top of already solid pixel art make the picture look shamelessly good!

Also, Google Chrome freaked out on me trying to download the game file, but that's because it "can potentially be dangerous since it's downloaded rarely". Well, duh, that's because it was created just now? Stupid Chrome -_-

7 days to harvest by fallcresthero 2023-01-24T09:38:27Z

For some reason this game really speaks to me ~~and my hoarding tendencies~~. Finishing the level "cleanly" was profoundly satisfying (that's why I replayed some of them when I basically tethered the line), and yes, I was also ready to smash those pesky workers like the useless bugs they are >:[ Thank you for this little gem of a game :)

Children of the Combine by MilkWine 2023-01-24T09:14:00Z

Incredibly entertaining, everything from the comic pages to sounds and voices was absolutely hilarious :D This game makes for the ultimate time-burner, and I can honestly see myself sinking minutes upon minutes into munching on people... therapeutically.

There Was A Day by T90. 2023-01-10T20:17:24Z

Aww, the story was heartwarming as hell and got me back in the Christmas mood for a bit! Thank you for the experience. As for the AI art, yeah yeah, we aren't supposed to evaluate that here I guess, but I do agree that it enhances the overall experience, deepens immersion and supports the writing, so I don't mind it one bit.

Catchy by danmerey 2023-01-10T20:38:03Z

Okay, what is this and why is it so ridiculously adorable. Like, I think I felt compelled to keep playing it long after I should've supposedly moved on to rate other games? But I don't know, it's just so... relaxing. Made me remember those nights I spend browsing stuff on Newgrounds and just chilling after a long and hard day.

Navigating along the bursts of wind was unexpectedly exciting. At some point I thought that it would be fun to make the ship drift a little even if it has its sales down in the strong wind, but then I reconsidered. That would add challenge, yes, but also lots of annoyance.

Amazing game, doubly so for having been made in 48 hours by just one person!

Techno Plants by morpheyz 2023-01-10T21:27:24Z

Simple yet addicting, a perfect jam game with its own style! The beats are indeed sick, and while I did notice a slight de-sync between music and animations, it really wasn't that life-threatening (or maybe I'm just used to relying on audio cues more that on visual ones)

LD53 — Delivery

Fridge Floppers by Split82 2023-05-03T01:11:23Z

Ah, so this is how my delivery services handles half of my parcels... No but really, for such a simply concept the execution was amazing. I think level 3 was a wake-up call for me, and I've restarted it more than a dozen times until I found the best way to handle simple steps and slopes. I remember myself being pretty proud of it... until I progressed just a bit further T_T Cute. Brutal, but cute.

Longship! by japes 2023-05-03T22:28:43Z

My mother told me Someday I would buy Galley with good oars Sail to distant shores~

You made me miss the Vikings, haha. And NOT miss QWOP one bit. As luck would have it, the left side of my boat was pretty synchronized all in all, but the guys on the right were definitely slacking off, and the moment I thought I finally reached full harmony and unity, they found a way to make my life miserable :D Sweet little game that was pleasantly frustrating. Would indeed enjoy some juicy viking metal on top!

Haul and Pray by Shess 2023-05-03T01:20:33Z

Thank you for the feedback!

Also @flanne and @tyler-m, could you please describe the issue you encountered? Most of the interaction with the game is done through dragging and dropping cards and items into their respective slots, not clicking, but perhaps there was a resizing or a DPI issue that made it hard for your to grab stuff?

Haul and Pray by Shess 2023-05-03T01:28:05Z

@batisdark Thank you ^^ As for repetitiveness, yeah, the game lasts for 40 events, and there are 26 unique events in total, so some of them are bound to repeat (I wouldn't mind making more tbh, but even the text we already have amounts to 6500 words, and that's low-key insane) We do have a workaround that forbids repeating events within a pool of 6, but the rest is RNG, and boy can RNG be cruel.

Haul and Pray by Shess 2023-05-03T18:28:51Z

Thank you for the feedback! There actually is a health system, but it's hidden from the player. Of course you can die if you choose the absolute worst actions in every possible case, but usually the game is tolerant to small blunders, rewards careful play and lets you regain some health from time to time, too :)

Haul and Pray by Shess 2023-05-04T14:11:44Z

Whoa, thank you for your detailed review, @scrapmetal! I genuinely enjoyed making this game, even within the tight time constraints, so I low-key want to work on a postjam version for the first time in my life. This type of feedback is incredibly valuable to me: whatever's understandable and forgivable for a 72 hour project can still be improved upon later. So you're right, while the game surely tracks the hero's physical and mental health, this info is hidden from the player by default. I didn't want to add visible meters with percentages and such because it felt too "game-ish", but introducing something less immersion breaking as an indicator is a good idea. Based on other feedback, I think adding more events is a nice idea as well, since RNG can be an absolute spoilsport and spam you with the same type of event over and over.

Wanna make prettier win/fail screens, too ^^

Mouth Feel by ColeSlaughter 2023-05-03T01:42:05Z

You know, if someone asked me whether I love or hate this game, I would struggle for an answer. First of all, because I'm not quite sure myself. Second of all, because you've successfully made me hyper-aware of how I produce sounds, and I am now doubting if I've ever spoken properly in my life.

The faces were absolutely hilarious though. Whenever I struggled, I just needed to have a look at my coach's mighty jawline and get inspired again.

Dressed Delivery by kiririn51 2023-05-03T02:35:26Z

Amazing writing coupled up with breathtaking visuals and tasteful jazzy vibes. It could've easily been a pure visual novel and it would have still rocked, but with the gameplay added it's an absolute beast of a game.

P.S. Izumi best girl, fite me P.P.S. Wait, Santa isn't real?

The Souls Express by antvelm 2023-05-03T00:39:16Z

I've only just started playing and rating games, so I'm surprised to discover such a shiny little gem so early. If there's one word to describe this project, it would be "atmospheric". Arguably, I'm a sucker for all things mystical, and this is such a fine mix of intriguing, weird, melancholic and beautiful it hits all the right spots.

The art style is amazing, and you know that, and everyone knows that, but the sound design was out of this world, too. It's something that often gets overlooked, but I honestly think it was the music and all those tiny ambient noises that made me really soak in the atmosphere of this game. A somber journey full of wonder still.

Mad Delivery by Fluffy_Kaeloky 2023-05-03T22:01:45Z

You know, I was feeling low-key stressed recently, with the jam and bugs and fear of feedback and all, so having an opportunity to freaking wreck some shit up was a _blessing_. I was a bit worried because my PC isn't the best at the moment, but nope, everything worked fine and fluid, and the absolute mayhem on my screen felt like it was healing my weary soul. Thank you for this T^T

EneRail by Ryabchik 2023-05-03T00:24:47Z

You know what, even if those quotes were fabricated by a soulless corporation with the sole purpose of giving out superficial motivation, I kinda like hearing that I'm an important member of the crew whose contributions are valued, so I'll let it pass :3 The music got kinda spooky around level 5 or so, but little did I know that the real horror would await me further into the game...

P.S. Вы котики, обнимать вас :3

Can You Deliver a Baby in a Dungeon!? by flanne 2023-05-03T00:51:30Z

Alright, not that's an interesting take on the theme! I initially picked this game for its artstyle (red and purplish tones are my jam), but stayed for the gameplay. It felt extra fluid and satisfying, and I wouldn't really mind playing more of it, perhaps even going full "survivors" route and having different characters and whatnot. Also not to spoil the twist but, **damn**

Egg Panic by RobLaro 2023-05-03T00:59:30Z

Yay indeed. I found this game after having had a pretty long streak of moody and atmospheric games, so I was like, wow, a sweet project with chill graphics and a funky soundtrack, I'm in! **Little did I know this would be the most intense game I've played so far.** It felt like utter chaos, my first run ended on 13 eggs, my second run almost twice as much at 25, and I was sweating bullets by the end of it. Best game, best eggsperience, I'm having chicken tonight. It's personal.

Machine Meltdown by Stefan Funke 2023-05-03T22:52:10Z

Keyboard & mouse gang reporting in! The controls honestly felt nice enough to me, I mean, it's not 100% frame-perfect responsive, but I just view it as a part of game design and difficulty curve: I just need to take it into account when planning my motions. The graphics tho. Oh, the graphics. Smooth, clean and absolutely on point, clean shapes with well-balanced colours and highlighted edges. Mwah, chef's kiss.

All in all, a beautiful boss rush game that made me remember _those days_ when I struggled against Dark Souls bosses and could not wrap my mind around folks beating them with voice commands or beating on drums.

Mt. Deliverest by QwillaK 2023-05-03T09:31:03Z

For a moment I started getting WLOP flashbacks here, but thankfully, this game was much more forgiving. It benefits from the ragdoll physics so much, and the apparent ease and fluidity of movement is genuinely addicting. Tbh I think I wasn't that lucky with RNG a couple of times, but it didn't spoil the fun one bit :>

Pack It Up by thomaspixelart 2023-05-03T00:43:50Z

Okay but what the heck, why does this game look so good? This pixel art style is adorable, and I am once again reminded that the art industry is not all about making the picture look as gloomy and realistic as you can (sob sob)

Also the spikes obliterated me so many times I nearly cried. Jk jk, I blame my stiff fingers for at least half of my stupid blunders, and my general air-headedness for the rest of them.

The Delivery of the Message by GreenwoodDrive 2023-05-03T22:36:34Z

Okay look, I know creators tend to dislike comparisons, but please trust me when I say it gave me strong Dune vibes, and I have nothing but utmost reverence when it comes to Dune. I think I was charmed with the whole concept of a journey through the deadly sands, and feeling surrounded by enemies was thrilling in the best sense of the word.

The red-on-orange hp markers were a bit hard to read at times, but nothing I couldn't handle. Please keep me updated on the post-jam version, too, can't wait to see the QoL improvements and enhanced tactics potential in there!

A delightfully frustrating game in my favourite low-poly esthetic. Is it difficult? Ohhh yes, but I can't help but consider it a selling point instead of a downside. I planned to change my keyboard anyway :D Honestly, a beautiful little game all in all.

Tiny Temple by sinclairstrange 2023-10-20T15:47:27Z

Not nearly as many bugs as you warned, and a pleasant experience overall! The colour palette took some time to get used to, but it grew on me pretty quickly since it feels like it matches the game mood pretty well!

Pool Frog by notnasiul 2023-10-20T15:50:00Z

Oh no, this little frog is way too adorable. It's a crime to be this cute. I missed my first few tries, sometimes landing on seemingly random lily pads, but I managed to conquer it pretty soon. Thank you for making such a sweet little game :)

Hellevator by Snowdrama 2023-10-15T14:34:45Z

A fun little game that ticks all the boxes. Simple, addictive, and has a huge potential if you choose to expand on it! And, as a huge sucker for juicy neon colours, may I say I absolutely love your visual design choices as well? Despite bright contrast, it's surprisingly easy on the eyes.

Urban Jungle by Shess 2023-10-07T19:27:58Z

@chaineddreamer @allov @bmacintosh @crowproducer Wow, thanks for letting us know, guys! The web build should be fixed now, but perhaps we'll also host it on itch.io to prevent further issues like this

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-20T14:56:24Z

So cozy and relaxing! It speaks to me on a level I didn't know existed. At first I was obsessively trying to make everything symmetrical but had a few unfortunate dead-ends. Once I abandoned the idea though, the game play really shined for me.

Introvertigo by Scott Steffes 2023-10-15T14:42:33Z

Big mood. Actually, the biggest of moods. I think this game does it for me in terms of sheer ingenuity, relatability, and all the amazing(ly terrifying) future prospects of utilizing AI in games. Thank you for such a gift of a game, even if it made me a bit uncomfortable at times - precisely as planned :D

Super Drillboy by jordantanner 2023-10-19T17:08:57Z

One of those games that benefitted HUGELY from a makeover and some additional polish time. I think I fell in love with it when I got my first NITRO DRILL moment and felt the need. The need for speed (° ͜ʖ°) Addictive and genuinely wild!

Calves of the Braves by Furano 2023-10-15T14:56:51Z

This game is crazy and I absolutely love it. It took exactly two minutes for the art style to grow on me, and when it did, I realized there's no way back for me now. I don't know what was going in your heads when you were making this, but oh god, I want some of that. My calves of thunder are ready and willing.

Limited Spacebar by IngeniousPhoenix 2023-10-20T16:04:06Z

Simple yet clean, the core mechanics are working just right, so if you ever wish to add fancy visuals, this game will see a massive surge in popularity. I think I'd love to have a more readable indicator of when void zones become actually dangerous, but other than that, perfect plan and perfect execution!

LD55 — Summoning

Protect Forest by wdebowicz 2024-05-03T13:46:59Z

Well that's certainly innovative, but I feel utterly heartbroken for the critters that had to meet their untimely death because of me T_T

Replicate-You by loveapplegames 2024-05-03T19:34:38Z

What is this :eyes: This is something I never hoped to come across! I agree that right now, it's more of a tech demo than a game, but there are SO many fun ways to gamefy it! I'm honestly a little excited because even the few replicas I trained seemed to be having their own "personalities", and it was unexpectedly cute :3

Isekai Hussle by Shess 2024-05-03T13:44:02Z

Was that a screenshot from before we updated the game during the submission hour? Hmm  All good, serves as a work-in-progress memento ^_^

Isekai Hussle by Shess 2024-05-03T19:44:57Z

@vgxmecrew52 Come on, dude. That's unnecessarily harsh.

Tristram by Rongo Matane 2024-05-03T19:47:33Z

A stunning game in all regards, and one that managed to perfectly capture both Diablo and Darkest Dungeon fee— oh no I just browsed through the comments and saw a lot of people mentioning them. Oh well, at least it proves I'm not alone in my reaction :3

The gameplay loop works shockingly well, and coupled with sweetest art and proper ambience it manages to deliver a product of unbelievable quality.

SOME-MAN by OhFiddleDiddle 2024-05-03T14:31:59Z

Voice acting junkie reporting in :eyes: At the moment of writing this comment I've only collected four endings but was already bursting with the raging need to post a comment and thank you for this little gem. Games like this make me remember that the "humor" category is there for a reason!

Blood, Sweat and Seals by Achiru 2024-05-03T14:24:33Z

I admit I found you through you recognition algorithm post and immediately became curious about the origins of your struggle. In just a few strokes, I already became a master of drawing stars and was impatient to be given a new "recipe" by the game – only to realize that I was slowly unlocking them myself by messing with the board. A pretty fun experience and a genuine sense of discovery all in one package :3

GODAI: The Ninja Way by exofrenon 2024-05-03T13:55:58Z

Such a beautiful retro feel to the game it almost makes me miss my Ninja Gaiden days. Almost. I'm not subjecting myself to that horror ever again >_> Okay but for real though, this game can be brutal at times, but in a way fighting with the controls also matches the spirit it so thoroughly emulates, so in a way it brings everything together.

Tao by leorean 2024-05-03T13:28:28Z

Oh no, it looks so cozy and sweet! How come a tiny bunch of pixels can make me feel all fluffy inside T^T Captivating graphics and smooth gameplay, too <3

Horrors from Beyond - The Bayou by GameDevTraum 2024-05-03T13:39:36Z

I think so far this is my favorite entry in the "mood" category and a pretty strong contender for the art and sound department as well! It's amazing just how much JUICE you were able to put in it with the limited time and manpower we're all dealing with.

Aphantasia by Bitlytic 2024-05-03T14:13:53Z

Oh god I feel like a game journalist I had to browse through the comments in sheer panic until I found the 1-2-3 tip! The aforementioned sound issue I think I only experienced while trying to scroll the browser page up and down really fast, but that might just be me. ANYWAY Beautiful game with the chillest music ever and sweet graphics. Kinda reminds me of those pure and innocent times I could spend evenings playing flash games on Newgrounds and Kongregate T_T The world has become a much harsher place, eh.

Grishnek Legacy by D0vid 2024-05-03T14:04:21Z

Games like this are oftentimes my greatest struggle because I'm bad with rhythm, multitasking, and precision. The ultimate combo! Thankfully, it wasn't that hard after just a little bit of practice, and the spoooookeh music really helped get in the mood :3

Peso by Tuna545 2024-05-03T20:30:36Z

A pretty haunting game that you CAN play in browser, but most definitely should NOT, since most of the fine lines get criminally warped and twisted. Matching the parts can be meditative and frustrating at the same time, but the moment the last piece falls back into its rightful place is simply divine ^_^

Slaymore by Joshua Miller-Pio 2024-05-03T13:34:33Z

Outright insane for a first submission! The palette and subtle parallax effect totally sold me on the game before I even got the chance to fully immerse myself in its mechanics. Compliments the theme extremely well, too :3

Blood Rite by LetsSnack 2024-05-03T13:58:54Z

As a huge sucker for dark bloody palettes and demon/monster content, I hopped on this game the moment it entered my field of vision. And all those tiny visual flourishes on the UI made my heart twinge in a mix of admiration and jealousy T^T I'll let my smol skeleton army find your artist and make them share their mastery secrets.

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Chanterune by Kerdelos 2024-10-24T18:47:16Z

An extremely tasteful game that utilizes great colour combinations and subtle movement to make the world feel truly alive. It felt quite nostalgic, honestly, and made me remember the days when I thought that games were a little bit like magic. Well, perhaps they still are.

Lyrics aside, I'm usually bad with anything involving timed inputs or memorisation under stress, but I felt like I could still go on here, and practice really made perfect. Got a little spooked by the darkened levels, too, but they kinda made the ending all the more rewarding.

PODVAL The Game by Almaz 2024-10-24T19:02:28Z

I almost lunged into the darkness without picking up the flashlight, ahaha. The rats were kinda cute at first, and the way their behavior changed after I reached the idol was startling. At first, there were four of them, and then way too many for me to count by the time I went all the way down again. Seems like I won't be making friends with he little pals anytime soon...

Absolutely loved the droning ambient music in the background, it worked perfectly to set the atmosphere. Sweetest little horror experience.

I'm a Porter for the Worst Dungeon Party in the World by cpaz 2024-10-24T18:36:35Z

Worst party in the world? Sounds like the absolute best one to me. After coming to terms with my utter frustration I came to sincerely adore these lovable idiots. We all make mistakes sometimes, even if these mistakes lead to the gruesome death and suffering of our friends, y'know.

Amazing visuals and hilarious voice acting, too, I can't believe I stumbled upon this gem in the very last day of voting щ(°Д ° )щ

LD58 — Collector

Mechmories by Shess 2025-10-24T07:55:28Z

Sorry folks, the issue has been fixed, but now we're in the red zone T_T

Not the best moment to have been overwhelmed with life stuff :(

Give me your name by LogovoStudio 2025-10-24T07:09:11Z

I honestly have no idea why this beauty of a game is in the danger zone, but it really was the perfect discovery to start my last-day voting crusade. Absolute, peak MOOD. (justice for the crow!)

WonderBot: A Lofty Return by mortusnegati 2025-10-24T06:58:35Z

God, it really is addicting. One of those games you SWEAR to yourself you'll only check out for a minute or two because there are more projects in the danger zone, and then get lost in it completely.

Personally, and I'm not ashamed to admit it, I was utterly captivated by the googly eyes :3

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Bulletland! by Gulyasarni66 2018-05-06T19:11:51Z

It's okay mate, it still turned out to be a neat and engaging little game! I kinda caught Nier:Automata flashbacks when the ghost attacked and the fighting-shooting part started, and that's cool! I'd gladly play the complete version if you still have time, energy and inspiration to continue working on it :)

Super Beat Fighter Turbo by hadesfury 2018-05-06T20:23:04Z

This time I had a buddy to play with, and it was unbelievably fun! I like the style you chose, it gives me genuine NFS Most Wanted vibes. Great job!

Zumaster by infinitycore 2018-05-06T19:23:07Z

Dangerously addictive game! I liked it a lot, although I wouldn't mind a guideline aka laser pointer for enhanced precision. Well, then again, maybe it's just me and my inherently terrible aim. Anyway, nice genre mix!

Jeff From Accounting by Almax 2018-05-06T23:29:03Z

Cool and innovative! How did you guys even manage to make this in the given time? Gorgeous. The genres really work well together, I got to have a lot of fun even with my somewhat slow typing speed :D

A Tavern Life by Paula 2018-05-06T20:14:50Z

Beautiful and cozy game. The assets you chose work really well together. I went bankrupt a couple of times (well, more than a couple of times) but still felt good about myself. Deserves to be a full fledged standalone game!

Apostle: Vanguard by Shess 2018-04-26T15:02:32Z

Thank you @Hello.Coder, to be honest we are now a bit caught up in the moment, having shifted all of our schedules just to participate in LD41 :D We'll start playing, rating and commenting games shortly after all this dull irl stuff. Thank you for your suggestion, we'll provide an alternative link to itch.io right away!

Apostle: Vanguard by Shess 2018-04-26T15:06:29Z

A tutorial sounds amazing, @MartinTristan, thank you! I hope it's not too late to implement (sounds pretty essential to me, so it shouldn't push the game to the post-jam state, right?)

I am getting to work on it right away~

Apostle: Vanguard by Shess 2018-04-30T21:07:48Z

Just updated the build, mostly tutorial + bugfixes + lesser QoL changes. Please let me know if there is anything confusing still!

Apostle: Vanguard by Shess 2018-05-06T23:01:59Z

Thanks for the feedback, we'll work on more thorough tutorial ^^ I was also thinking of making some of the functions automated so they don't require as much micro-management. Anyway, that was a valuable lesson!

Apostle: Vanguard by Shess 2018-05-07T00:48:35Z

Thank you for your kind words! Glad to see our sleepless nights paid off :)

Apostle: Vanguard by Shess 2018-05-07T05:26:04Z

Huh, we didn't actually thought of Mac users (being windowfags all our lives); that's great input, @BryceLTaylor, thanks! Maybe it's not too late to implement alternate control schemes.

Refinery disappearance sounds troublesome, we'll look into it!

Apostle: Vanguard by Shess 2018-05-07T05:28:08Z

Oh, and tutorial v2.0 is on its way, of course! But until then, huge respect to everyone out there bravely figuring out things on their own!

MechJox by Houruck 2018-05-06T19:46:15Z

Very neat and stylish design, and the actual fighting part was surprisingly tense. In a couple of cases the timer went into negative values, though. Weird.

So, anyway, I learned that I panic too much and don't have time to check and react to both info strings (enemy attack and enemy defense), so I just focused on protecting myself first and attacking whatever figured - it's a guaranteed hit 2/3 of times, right? It proved to be a flawless strategy, although I felt I cheated somehow...

So maybe you can include a slight delay aka state of shock if your mech hits the foe's protected spot, like a recoil from a blocked hit? It might stop the filthy cheaters like me from blindly spamming attack, I believe :D

The Secret Ingredient is Love by Miqui Gaud 2018-05-15T10:37:46Z

This was definitely beyond anyone's expectations... but god am I entertained! Those little quirky responses to my choices were the absolute best. Spectacular job guys :)

Soccer Fight by mic_matrix91 2018-05-06T19:33:32Z

Genuinely funny game, I actually stuck with it for more minutes than I could count, it kinda... awakens something primal within you. That's the type of football/soccer I'd love to watch and play anytime. The sound design is superb, very rewarding!

Run for Love by SmokeSomeFrogs 2018-05-06T18:41:52Z

I thoroughly enjoyed the game, nice to see one of the <...> + Dating sim ideas finally brought to life! The text was hilarious as well. Great job!
