A great take on snake, with a really nice difficulty curve, beautiful graphics and fun audio !
Pluses : - The graphics ! - The tutorial makes a great job explaining the game - The game slowly gets more difficult, but the frog mechanic prevents it from being too punishing - The music and the...voice acting ?
Possible improvements : - Not having immediate input feedback can be disorientating at first (fixed-rhythm movement). Maybe rotate the frog immediately after input to give feedback to the player while conserving the fixed tempo. - The projection makes some obstacles hard to read.
Good job !

So much character!! I was sold the second I heard the voice+music.
It was confusing at first because I kept trying to go upwards (left from the frogs perspective).
I'm also a bit unsure why I lost at the end?

It's kinda hard to predict rat movements but it's a funny game, good job !
It's so weird and cute and amazing. The voice acting was hilarious. Very cohesive, and well thought out world.

HEY, I love this, and it's totally not just because I'm obsessed with frogs. I definitely heard a lot of "wait, i think i misremembered" because I kept dying trying to talk to other toads, but this was really great :D
Lots of heart in this. Loved it. Did find it pretty hard though.
This has a really good, unique feel to it, very stylized. I can tell you put a lot of work into this and it's challenging enough

I LOVE THESE FROGS SO MUCH, THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THEM INTO THE WORLD!!!
This was so delightful! Love the designs of all the frogs so much!

Nice idea. Great art! It became a bit frustrating seeing toads on lily pads and behind puddles that I assumed I could pick up, but just died. Nice take on snake mechanic.

This is my favorite snake game yet, and it doesn't even feature snakes. Very cool.
Perfect, nothing to say haha, the voice actor is amazing :')

haha, amusing entry i've gotta say, fairly difficult, i definitely like the art style and more and you've certainly put some of yourselves into it what with the rather silly voice acting

Very impressive ! Toad's design is flawless, and the visuals are very good overall. But I feel like 3 lives to beat the entire game makes it too difficult. Especially on level 4, which I did not pass despite 3 or 4 times restarting the game. It's sad because the narrative part of the game gives it much originality and I'd really like to see the ending :( Maybe I'll come back later.Anyway very, VERY good job !

very very cool game, WP guys :D
Very polished and good looking game. As someone else mentioned, there's no feedback telling you whether or not you turned the frog until its next movement. This can be confusing when navigating tight spaces. It's also hard to tell what objects you can and can't go right behind because of their height(ie. the barrels). The unique looking frogs were also confusing as I'd try to go pick them up, only to lose other frogs.
I really like the music. It seems swamp suitable. The voice acting is a bit quiet in comparison, but funny. Very nice graphics. It's a shame the unique frogs didn't play more of a role in the game. I don't think this game hit the theme very well, but it's at least unique. Definitely one of the more complete feeling games I've played.

This game geniunely made me smile! Great work. I like the evolution of the snake gameplay, even if it was a bit hard to figure out that you're just supposed to go right at first.
The game is cool, he VO is awesome and the artstyle is nice. The controls seem a bit funky at times and the speed could be a bit higher. Also how do you get that blue toad? :D
Geez, this one is so good and polished! I love everything about it, music, style, art and this amazing voice. Great job!

It's truly impressive. Stylish graphics and music, simple and clear mechanics, totally covers the theme. And of course, brilliant voiceover! Deserves 6 out of 5 stars, but i can't do it, so sorry, only 5 now.

Love the concept and polish! The frog audio voice was amazing...instantly sold :frog:
The only thing I'd keep in mind for future games is avoiding text being in a different place than the action, and especially with timing based games, avoiding text whenever possible. I wanted to read the story, but really couldn't without losing lives. At the beginning, I thought the text meant I was in an intro sequence, then promptly died haha. It also wasn't always easy to distinguish life-losing obstacles from game polishing details...I kept avoiding sticks and leaves, only to realize accidentally that they were actually fine.
Again though, excellent work! The whole thing came together really well, and I laughed out loud at "childwen, childwen!". Keep up the great work!
The sounds are kinda hilarious. I liked the calm mood of the game, it didn't have bullet hell or fast paced action, but still you could see that your team spent tons of effort to get the product done in time.

This is so stylish - the art is cool (I love the itchio background!) and the voice acting is amazing! I found it a little hard, which is sad because I really wanted to see the whole story! Maybe you could make an easy mode where you can keep playing forever instead of having only 3 lives?

The graphics are really great! I kept losing at that rat that went up and down, seemed to always be where I wanted to go ä__ä
I love the graphics and the voice! The game is nicely done, but it's just hard to finish the whole game with only 3 lives.(Maybe I'm just incompetent XD)

I love the graphics and the voice!
Doing funny voiceover is pretty cool for a jam game, I wished the music ducked when the narrator spoke though, I couldn't hear most of the words :/
The frogs are really cute <3
Great entry! Cool interpretation of the Snake mechanic. The voiceovers are :hearts:! Good work!

I love the graphics. There's something weird in the HTML version. You walk to the right, take the crown and then the screen ends and you can't do a thing except dying. Never seen a frog.

@gonzalol This is unexpected. We already found a lot of bugs and are polishing up a more stable version, but this has not happened before. Have you tried reloading the page?
What a great little collection of frogs, I love the narration.
Nice entry! Oh my I love the voices. The music is a bit too loud tho, the narrator voice sometimes gets lost in it.

The voice is great and funny!! I like you art style. At first I tried to go to the top of the map and found I die. Hope there will be some reminder or design of the map to help the player move forward.Great work.

Thanks for doing an html build! I think there may have been a problem, the first few times I tried to play it was very confusing. I think the crown was offscreen as well as the exit, and I ended up walking into an offscreen obstacle, maybe? But I saw the playthrough video and copied that and made it on my way. I had a difficult time commanding the frogs, and I also noticed that I didn't retain overflow followers- 5/3 frogs became 3 frogs next level, which was a little disappointing. Overall though, it was a very fun game, nice stylish graphics, and I appreciated the voice acting and the storytime format!

This game was really well done! I love the voice acting, music and audio in general. The art style is really cool too! It was pretty challenging and I was intrigued to keep going to hear more of the story. Great work! :frog::crown:

How did you even manage to make it in time ? this is amazing, especially the graphics, **How**
keep up the good work mate!
Thank you so much, everyone! Your words mean a lot to us
We released Version 1.1 today (for the remaining duration of the jam it will stay download only to not influence the ratings) and implemented a lot of your suggestions!

@jlv Thank you so much for suggesting the immediate frog rotation! This little feature makes the game so much more accesible!
@thecritterscove Sadly the unique frogs were a bit overambitious. I've strewn them into the levels as random talking frogs so they don't go to waste.
@catie-jo Just thinking of your comment makes me smile - because "childwen" is simply a product of my inability to properly pronounce the letter "R"
Oh man, loved the voice acting! And the music really fits, that vibe takes me back to those childhood fantasy tales...
One thing though, the controls felt VERY unresponsive- but that's probably because of the jumps happening in fixed time intervals and with a fixed distance on the grid. I had to quickly and repeatedly tap a direction to get the frog procession to turn reliably. But other than that, it was a really cool experience! I loved it!

This was a genuine surprise for me! The art and sound (including the voice acting) are both very refined and quirky, the animations are fluid and full of life, and there's a pretty nice message there as well. I liked how you implemented the "followers" mechanic, too. Great game!

That narrator voice was too good :joy:
I enjoyed this a lot. The graphics, the storytelling, the humor. Even my girlfriend stopped what she was doing and watched me play
The graphics was well made and consistent and the sound and voice acting was good as well. But it was a bit confusing where you needed to go when the camera stopped and it looked like you could go south but you started over when you reached the end. Goodjob on the game!

I love the graphics, cool music, voice acting, funny sounds! I felt like the camera could be a bit more to the left because sometimes I felt I didn't have enough time to change my movement

Haha that was really funny :D Cool backstory and funny voice acting. The graphics were really nice too, congrats!
I'd have kept playing if it wasn't for the life-system that sets you back to the first level if you lose too many times. I really don't understand why you chose to implement this as it seems like a pretty sure way to turn off players who are already engaged.
As long as I played, I really enjoyed my time though :)
This reminds me of swords of ditto a bit ... but also particularly because of the music, makes me nostalgic about the old lion king game in the mega drive ... playing this made me smile, thank you for that!
It was alright, the esthetics were the strong part but i didn't really enjoy the voice acting though it was original

Music and art are very fun. I had trouble figuring out how to tell if an obstacle was a block or just background art, and how many squares the big obstacles covered. I also didn't know if losing my followers was bad or not - I seemed to be able to progress in levels, but I didn't play through to the end, so I don't know if it mattered that I skipped some frogs or lost others. I agree that control feedback might be useful, but I didn't have a lot of trouble with that part, maybe because I first played a Snake game back in the 1980s. Really fun and polished effort.
Very polished and solid entry, I personally adore the graphics, great job!

Very cool! The voice acting made me laugh ;)
As some others have mentioned it would have helped if the frog rotated depending on his direction. I also struggled a bit to read the text and play the game at the same time. But otherwise I liked it a lot!

I am terrible at multitasking so moving the frog and reading the story was nearly impossible to me. Other than that, the game is brilliant! Nice story, nice characters, fun and challenging game play, cool song and charming graphics. Good job, all of you!

I gave this a shot, but didn't enjoy it very much. It fits the theme, and is a snake-alike game and it has some distinctive charm to it, but I had problem in the first level just to finish it because (theory) the game would keep going in the background and I eventually crashed into a block (theory ends here). When I tried circling around the finish spot after the game faded out, it worked, but then the rats were very unpredictable and the perspective was a little incomprehensible, so I died in many levels despite numerous attempts.
I didn't like the narrative style, but I think that comes down to personal preference, since many people here seem to enjoy it.
I think this game is good, but could be improved.

I can't believe I didn't check this out until now, beautiful, perfect, I'd pledge allegiance to this king in a heartbeat. The art and writing was wonderful, but I think the game over mechanic where you have to start from the beginning isn't really needed in the current iteration of the game, where the level layout stays the same over repeated tries. I agree with a lot of the comments here that it's difficult to keep up with the text while playing, but I do like the idea of it. Maybe you can even lean into it more to make it really part of the game mechanics in some way? Anyway, keep it up!
This is great! Love the way the story unfolds as you play the game and the music is awesome. The voice-over had me cracking up too. I noticed a couple bugs where when you die it plays one or two overlapping VO's. Sound design was also a nice touch, the text sound is very "frog-like" haha. Solid entry!
LOVIN ALL THESE TOADS!! GREAT ART STYLE!! and the voice over is a riot

The visuals were fantastic!
Haha I always appreciate games with a voiceover, it's a really nice touch imo. The art style and music here are also solid. The gameplay was fairly simple, and I did run into a problem where running into obstacles would sometimes be a game over even if I had a few followers because the I would be stunned and couldn't move in time for the next jump. I also totally thought you weren't supposed to touch leaves so I was pretty confused how to proceed on the second level for a bit, but I figured it out lol. Great work here!
frogs are adorable, loving the voice narrating the story! i managed to get the crown and then got confused not knowing how to proceed

Hello @polinnich ! Thank you for playing such an old game of ours! ☺️ You have to move the Toad King from the left side of the stage to the right side, where you have to leave the screen to enter the next level.
