This is a really cool idea! But only not that, I got also impressed how good you made the graphics in a short time. You should stick to this idea and develop a bit further.
Nice concept! Amazing that this idea is done in 48 hours! Beside your great idea I liked the way how you interact with the UI. Like the sounds hovering over the nodes, adding or removing the nodes.
Enjoyed the game very much! That carrot looks just awesome. Focus the storytelling was a good choice. If you would have taken another font, the game would have made a much better polished!
I am sorry for pointing this point out :slight_frown: , but I think we got a couple of young game devs here... And maybe you should at least mark the game with blood and _sexual_ sentence content.
I like the idea! There is a lot of potential. You could increase the degree of difficulty by giving the letters cool down, so you have to use other more frequently letters also. When my ship was getting bigger I didnt have the feeling nothing could stop me, so it could be a bit harder with the time.
But its a really cool game!
Nice game! Will there a be a sequel on this? :) myraft.jpg
@erkberg Thank you for your review! I agree something on the controls is not correct. I tried to fix it, but I somehow just cant find it out. :D
@Odeyalko Thx for playing my game. Yes its true, the originally character was made in vector graphics. Then I started to use asesprite **in middle of the compo** for the first time in my life. Maybe it was not the best idea, but I just had the feeling now has the time come for **pixel art**.
@DeusAriel, @sigod Thank you both for your reviews. I agree, the controls are the weak side of the game. DeusAriel, but I am happy hear you liked the song.
@purrseus Thanks a lot! It was my first time starting with **pixel art**. I trained weeks before with Blender and in the in the compo I completely changed my way. :smirk: But with pixel art I just could create more levels on an easier way. And in the end it worked! I created 6 levels very fast and on an easy way.
@derek-volker Thank you for open and honest feedback. I guess you raged quit where the first time the spikes appear? Yes that is one of the hardest parts in the game. If the controls would have been better, I think it would be a better compensation to continue the game. I had the feeling that my sounds where a lot worse then the graphics. That's interesting! If I maybe would have reduced the organic pattern in my graphics, it would maybe been easier. **Thanks a lot bro!**
@Kazatan Thank you very much **sir**! The tip with the *Continuous Collision Detection* is really good. I did a big mistake not to configure it. This could also be one of the problems why the controls feels so bad. I tried to fix the controls, but I didn't just see why. **You are my bro master!**
@Bip Thank you for your precious time playing my game. Your comment is the truth! What is a game without decent controls?! The connection to your gaming soul cannot be established. :smile:
@Ithildin I am glad to read your review! It makes me happy you liked the soundtrack! But Crazy, I taught it would be impossible to fell down on the left side. I build all the levels like that, so I would not have to care about that edge case. Haha, I am really impressed. **You really made it bro!**
@yonman Thanks for your comment and playing my game!
@captandrey Thx for posting the screenshoot, you really made it on the finishline bro!
@rplnt If I only would have started with the pixel art directly, the character would have the same style. :thumbsup:
Congratulation on finishing your game! Yes it was a bit hard, but thats the way to go with some platformers. I mean Super Meat Boy is also not really easy. Maybe I missed the topic to the theme there a bit, but over all it felt like a finished game. :)
Hey I did a small playtesting of your game.I hope you can use the feedback. :) https://youtu.be/WtEnmHDhqXY
Nice graphics and the battle boss was epic. And the best was the humor at the end. :) But I have a EU Keyboard this made the jumping sort of a bit tricky... I would have expected jump on space. But over all its a great game!
Well done there! This game reminds a bit of my concept too, but the control of your game feels a lot smoother. I like the title also! Keep up the good work.
It was an artistic experience indeed. I liked your graphics, you noticed that there was a lot of investment into this. The music was perfect for the environment... Deep and mysterious... The walking through the dessert could have been a bit quicker though. I went to the wrong corner of the dessert and almost got stuck at the end of world. The way back took a while, but at least I had a nice view. ;) I wish the story would have a bit deeper, that would have lifted your game a lot.
But over all very good job! Congratulations to you all!
Hey Mr. Yonman! Congratulations to your game! I like the graphics, if you would have added a little bit of shading it would have been this small extra touch, it would have big impac for the pixel art. Nice the game had music, but it was a bit too overwhelming.
I have a wide screen, so my resolution is 2560x1080. In Unity you can easily add up a start menu, so I could have picked a better resolution for my windows.
bunny.jpg
Keep up making games! You made it bro!
Congratulation for the good work! I like the created ambience of the game. The dark theme played good together with the music. I also liked the sound effects, but without that hard distortion sounds, when the game was over. Sounds like the computer has an error.
Sometimes it was a bit frustrating with landing, because I pressed it too early. And when I hit it too many times because I just wanted to land, I started jumping again.
I got an German keyboard layout, this means my z is switched with y. Because of that it was bit harder to control the game.
But overall a really cool game, I really liked the graphics!
I did a small playtesting of your game. I hope my feedback will help you.
https://youtu.be/als3yU9hX_k
I also checked your source code. It would be better to put your code into a specific folder, so you dont mix them up with other images like pngs. :D
GJ @odeyalko! I uploaded my playtesting and code review of your game. I hope it will help you a bit. https://youtu.be/rpHggnbAeY0
@odeyalko There is nothing to be ashamed of! You did a very good job and you were very focused on your goal to accomplish this game in 48 hours. That is what counts! If you start to work a little bit on git you will notice how much power there is in this tool and if you train it a bit before starting the jam, you see that it will save a lot of time during development.
@nikita-demidov Thank you for the review of my video! Yes that's true its not really same, I admit my mistake there. :D The ``` timeBeforeAction -= Time.deltaTime ``` would execute every frame with my code. The alternative would have been to check if the ```timeBeforeAction >= 0``` would be true and then execute the else block with only ```Input.GetMouseButton(0)```. That would have been much clearer:
``` if (timeBeforeAction >= 0) { timeBeforeACtion -= Time.deltaTime; } else if(Input.GetMouseButton(0)) { ... } ```
I like the core game design. Create a track so you got a loop fits perfectly the theme. But I had the feeling something was missing to get the game more complete. If the user could not determine the ball spawn point and some bridges would be pre-placed, you would bring more puzzle logic into the game. With this you would make different tracks instead of increase the amount of loops you have to clear. Good job with your entry!
What a nightmare for the cat! I hope you don’t put your cats through such exercises? 🤸♂️😹🙀
The detailed love to your graphics is a charm. The puzzles got me trapped a couple of times. I stopped to gather the lööps so I could finish the level. It was not enough motivating to pick them up. Maybe with the help of sounds and a nice animation would have motivated me more. Nevertheless, your game feels complete which is a great success! Applause to your submission!
@sirred
Thank you for your feedback. My first attempt was to make it fun, but it became a simulator. 😂
@thevideogamester
Thank you for dropping by and play the game. Yeah, I believe this job is really a loop feeling. But if we notice it, maybe we can give all the cashier some more patience and a friendly smile even though they look exhausted.
@kazatan
Hey! I am joyful you gave my game a visit! Originally I wanted to make it sort of fun, but the outcome was a simulator. I wanted to give a tiny insight into this job. And maybe some people will see this job with fresh eyes after they played this game.
“_It got pretty difficult I thought but the gameplay mechanics of pick, rotate, swipe were solid. I may have preferred a more granular rotation - as in slowly rotate it around the center whilst you hold down the button instead of the angle snap rotation but I don’t know how that would have affected the gameplay._”
I like your idea of rotating the object with a velocity. I should have implemented this feature instead of the fix rotation. 😎
“_Graphics being hand drawn gave it a fun look and colourful. I’d have loved more expressions on the customer faces ..._”
The customers should change their expression on their face depending how long they have to wait in the queue.
Thank you for your comment and ideas!
@iorena
Thank you very much for your motivating comment! I must admit that on some days, you didn’t stand a chance. I wanted to keep it so much real as possible. Some people are almost always unsatisfied and if you try to satisfy them, you have an enormous challenge. Thanks for stopping by!
@cg-fred
Thank you for your feedback. I total agree on SFX sounds. I could have added easily some customer sounds when they became unsatisfied. That would create a unique atmosphere. I bet it would have increased the pressure.
@cookie-chr
Yeah, the ambient store music would have been epic! I am sorry to hear it didn’t work out with your laptop. Maybe my controls were a bit too confusing. Thx for taking the time and play my game! Good luck with your game journey!
@barrier
Simulator jobs for ever! Glad hearing your feedback. This game needs a decent tutorial, and the controls need to be much more intuitive. Thank you for your time.
@Sli
Hey, nice to hear you took the time to play my game. As I have seen so far, everyone thought they had to scan the separator. 😲 Thank for your feedback!
@fronwewq
Yeah, my idea is originally from Papers, Please. Well observed and thank you for your motivating words 🎉 / feedback 📈! I have thought about creating at least a small stable version of the game and then see if it got some potential. The position of the scanner was too high, therefore it was sometimes hard to hit the articles. And yes, some customers you didn’t stand a chance to satisfy them, like in the real world.
@levidsmith
I wanted to create an update where the treadmill is moving by itself. But at the end I didn’t make it and my tutorial was not clear enough.
_Maybe have a bar to separate the customers_
I am not sure what you mean by that? Maybe you mean the form of the existing customer separator was not clear enough? Thank you for taking your time and play my game!
@tjabberoni
Next time when you are standing in a queue of a shop and you think on my game, then my game was a success. 🤣 Thanks a lot for your feedback.
@doot
I am happy to read your comment! If you felt some sort of pressure, my game design went out as expected. 😎 I can image the gigantic pile of articles overflowing your scanner. Thanks for stopping by! 👍
A very addictive game! I just could not stop until I completed the game. The desire for upgrades is just too overwhelming. You should be careful that people don’t get criminal because of this game. 🤑
You got me spaced! 🚀 An awesome addictive arcade shooter brings my old childhood feelings back again. The game feels very complete. I loved the combination of your game design elements and the sound. Looping through the space with that crackling sound. Your UI elements are very intuitive, and your tutorial was truly user friendly. It took me a while to get to the end boss. But the fun factor in the game pushed me further. Lucky I got him beaten the first time, if not I wouldn’t stop the entire night. 😎
I dont really have any suggestions what you can do better. I just had sometimes problems in the edges with the cross-hair to get my aim correct. I belive the parallax of the cursor was not 100 % correct in the edges. Maybe I am wrong, but I just wanted to leave my feeling.
This is a spectacular entry, well done! 💪👍
Hole in one! I call this a solid game. The game design forwarded me to finish this game. I enjoyed it from the start to the beginning, even though I had this frustration when the ball missed the hole just slightly. But that’s like the real golf, isn’t? Congratulation to your submission! You should complete at least a small version of this game.
loop.png
You got me definitely in a loop! An idea would have been to make it like a real loop. Going for a while to the left or right would have brought you to the end of the other side. Nice game!
Congratulation to your submission! Here is my code reviews as I promised. I it will help you in future game jams. 🤞
https://youtu.be/DJODYG67058
Splendid games don’t have to be enormous! This game stands out because it’s so simple, but so artistic. I my opinion you nailed the theme very well, and you have created an artistic game. I didn’t know how to change the reality, but I played many days and weeks. I even checked the code to see the solution, but I didn’t find it. It felt very satisfying to hit those buttons to process your daily activities. Good job m8!
Well done! The level reminds me a bit of [Mario Bros](https://www.nintendo.de/Spiele/NES/Mario-Bros--768392.html). Maybe you got your inspiration from there? What about your next step will go through the level from right to left?
Congratulation to your Entry! The bosses look awesome. Here is my Code Review, as I promised. I hope the code review can help you in future game jams. https://youtu.be/-ZuSEZGxYsA
You get a big glorious “baa” from my side. This is an enormous improvement compared to your last game. I am thrilled to see how much the quality of your game development has increased! Your combination of 3D and pixel art is done well. The introduction creates the right mood. I also liked the tutorial showing the controls.
The game core itself has potential. I believe you can create interesting levels with this technique. I had little trouble getting the puzzle solved with the cube and ball. But it can be compensated with the right hints.
Here are some suggestions if you want to continue to develop this game:
* A UFO topic would be epic. You could let the UFO create the portals or the sheep would get dragged up by UFO at the end * Maybe changing the color of the portals would help the gamers, knowing where to put which object
I believe this would also be suitable as a mobile title. Congratulation :)
Congratulation to your submission! Your game motivated me to complete this game with two different endings. 👍
Who ever thought the mouse was the killer?
Hey, you asked me to check your character script in my blog post on the Ludum Dare page. And here is my outcome. Writing a character script is not a simple task! I bet you already checked some tutorials on YouTube and you find an enormous amount of content. That’s because even the best developers can sit days, weeks, or even months to get their character script to fit the best needs of their game. Maybe you could explain to me what you mean by a foul mood on revisiting? Each code has always its own style and (in my opinion) even a culture sometimes.🤔
Here are some suggestions under reserve 📑:
* You could try to decouple the movement of the character and its interaction detection in two separate classes. If the movement it’s depending on the interaction: You cannot press a button while jumping, you could make the character movement to a singleton patter and then provide its status IsJumping per enum or bool variable. I like your decision of having the interaction decoupled (Door, LeverSript, ButtonScript). 👌
* If you want to get a better consistency with your class / variable naming, you could check out the Microsoft guidelines: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/standard/design-guidelines/naming-guidelines If you get a routine and use the same style of your code, you will gain speed in development. 🚴
* Check if early out is an option for you. I described it in my video: [Let's Code Review](https://youtu.be/DJODYG67058?t=524)
I hope some suggestions can help you in future game jams. 🎮
Hi, thank you for responding to my comment.
I would like to give you two kinds of answers. The first one is a more mental awareness approach to deal with your connection to your code. And the second answer is referred to technical advice.
1) How can you appreciate your own code even though you can see the needed improvements? You could consider your code or project as a small garden. But in the beginning and maybe over time the garden seems to lose its shape. Weed is growing everywhere and some plants need a cut. I believe that universal things truly grow by compassion. What do I mean by that? Yes, the garden definitely needs your help to get a harmonic shape. But the key question is, can the garden evolve by judgement? Judgement in the sense of _the big sad_. Acknowledgment, do not fight the current state however, but still give you the chance to use compassion to give the garden the required attention and love is need to grow. This does not mean to ignore or pushing down your negative emotions that are raised. It’s more like to be aware of them but letting them past like clouds instead of creating mental stories of them, that will continue pushing you down. Accepting and embracing the current state of your code will lead you in a less fight, but will free your mind in a more harmonic way for new things and other solutions.
2) I believe every developers experience the split between finish their tickets or continue to improve the code. Sometimes I have the feeling improving the code can suddenly end up like a recursive function. An endless task. Therefore, I try to stop at the correct time. If you are new to programming and want to increase your skill, it’s a good sign you want to keep on growing. Be your own garden.👨🌾
For code cleanup there are also some tools you can use: * Visual Studio Code cleanup - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/ide/code-styles-and-code-cleanup?view=vs-2019 * Visual Studio Extension Codemaid - http://www.codemaid.net/
With one or two clicks, they format your complete document. It's like an automatic cleaner robot.🤖
Get friendly with git. It’s one of my best tips. Once you felt the power of git, you can easily delete your old code, since it’s still in the history. Git have helped me very much in game jams. In a game jam I break things more easily than I want to. But I can easily revert my code, or go check how it worked before. I am not a friend of using git over commandline(cmd). I use therefore: https://tortoisegit.org/download . But there also other alternatives like Sourcetree https://www.sourcetreeapp.com
Here is my history of my commits during the game jam: https://github.com/schw3de/Ludum-Dare/commits/ludum-dare-47 Commit often or when you hit a milestone.
I will also follow you and maybe we see us again on the next game jam 🎮 or in the comments section of my next video on youtube 🎬?
Congratulations to your first Game Jam entry! I liked the graphics and the blue ocean. If you want to polish this game a bit, you could add some nice bubbles animation to your sea life world. Good luck with your next game jams. Stay on the ball and keep up the excellent work.
This game feels so close of becoming solid. It would only have needed some minor adjustments here and there. The story and artwork are just perfect. I enjoyed watching that flat screen on the wall. 🤗 The sweet robot took only seconds to capture my heart. 😎 I believe you should give it a final polish and then post it to place like itch.to. Here are some suggestions if want to continue developing:
* The robot was sliding over the platform. I had the feeling I didn’t control the robot * Instead of using a keyboard to set the next commands, you could add mouse interaction where you can click the next commands. This could be more intuitive * Creating higher resolution of the characters when a dialog is taking place (RPG Style). This would create more emphasis for your robot. You could create then specific emotions when he is talking 🤖
Nice entry, keep up the good work!
I call this a curious game. I just loved the graphics artwork. That’s kind of pixel art game I like. The dialogs were funny and kept up the mood. But the core gameplay itself was not self revealing for me. I believe that was your desired game design. If you would have give me as a player a bit more context (Why I am here, what is my purpose?), I would probably have enjoyed the game more. Congratulations to your entry!
A nice little puzzle game you have created. I liked the pixel art graphics. I was happy you fixed the resolution for wide screens. 👌👍
As a suggestion, if you want to continue working on the game, you could let random items fell down on the conveyor belt that would change the attributes of the player (Become faster, slower, towards enemies indestructible). I believe the game would need some kind of pressure over time, like in Tetris. But overall you did a superb job!
Congratulation to your Entry! The high score pushed the game with a challenge, but in its core I missed some fun while playing. I checked your other games and maybe you should consider developing games with pixel art. It could polish your games to a new level. Combination of 2d and 3d art is always an enormous challenge and takes a lot of time consumption. Time you could use to invest into the gameplay instead. I wish you good luck with your future game jams!
A very solid game! The beginning of the game is just epic. I got to level 22.
I got two remarks: - I had the feeling it was possible to grind the game, when I went completely to the left or right side. I only had to go down and then shoot instant to destroy the enemy. If you would block some parts to go through the floor, you could stop the grinding. - When the enemy jumps down and when I shoot too early, I won’t hit them. Even though I should hit them.
You got me with the nightmare. Didn’t think it would end in a horror story. :smile: I believe it’s a solid entry if you are starting out with game development. Consider reaching out to the service of itch.io. I know everybody is doing it, but I guess it will give you some more time for other issues or feature improvements. If you consider trying out ldjam again, then maybe go for a sample webgl build with unity and afterwards publish it on itch.io. It will reduce your headache during the jam itself when you got a feeling for your tools.
The voice of the actor was really epic! I like the fast style of the game. One critic is the floaty controls, but I believe you are already planning an update for that? ;)
Our games do not only share the same concept, they are listed beside each other. :smile:
meditation.png
Your sound effects hit the nail! I could feel the deepness of the game. :smile:
Only 4 hours?! Maybe you should host a game jam with 4 hours. :smile:
My congratulation to your entry. I call that a novel idea and it really fit to the theme.I had the feeling it was only missing a little of UX Feedback to make this game intense.When hitting the arrow keys, I was never sure if I was doing it right or not. Here a visual and audio feedback would have been great for the entry. But never then less good job to your submission!
Make a devlog please!
You got a lot of content for a game jam entry! I enjoyed the graphics. A ship game as a deck card is cool idea. You should definitely polish this game a bit and bring out a new version!
The controls felt very smooth, and the bunny is really epic with his suit.
I bet you get nightmares from that monster at the end of the level. It’s a bit crazy to jump into his mouth. . :smiley:
What a Harry Potter music! This can really compete with film music! Congratulation to your wonderful game.
A tiny feature request. Dialog cancel animation would be cool. Since you click like a maniac in this game, you would happy to cancel same dialog you have viewed for the 100 times.
Reminds me about the game battleship "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battleship_(game)". You could turn this game out into a serious game for archeology. Where kids would learn how to search for some fossil. Since archeology is not a simple task.
Congratulations on your entry!
Pixelart for ever! The controls felt good, and the graphics made my mood. I had difficult to handle the menu. If you would make the interactive elements (button) more clear you don’t need to push everywhere. :smile:
My congratulations to your submission!
Another meditation theme! Awesome! But unfortunately the game was lagging and everything felt very slow. I love the pixel art in your game!
Dont dare to wake him up! I will protect his dreams!
This is an original idea. Here are some ideas which might improve the game: * The person could also have a nightmare in himself instead of having the boos outside * Let the dog fall a sleep and slightly get disappeared * Make the nights shorter and let the difficulties get increased per night / level
Good job finishing your entry
Congratulation to your submission! I like your graphic style and storytelling. But I had the feeling the arcade mode and story telling didn’t fit together. But I assume that it’s better to stick with your skills than change them during the jam. :slight_smile:
Destroy blocks. Destroy all the blocks! The idea has potential. But I missed a core gameplay of challenge. And I had sometimes problem with the performance when playing on itch.io. Congratulation to your submission!
Good solution to capture the mouse in the webgl build! I believe I will try to copy that solution in the next jam. :smile:
I had the feeling it was not missing much to make it a scare game. You should be able to run faster and the enemies should do more dmg to you. But atmosphere and sound were solved very well.
Impressive game for 48 hours! Inspiring music and graphics! But I missed a “got hit” sound effect, and I was not sure if the tempo of the music was synchronizing with the level itself. Consider doing some small improvements to bring the game to the next level.
The graphics look really great and I love games with upgrade features! I guess in the end you could not implement all the game design mechanics you wanted to? I had the feeling there was missing something. But congratulation to your finished game!
Yeah sure, I saw yesterday a horse on the street deliver a pizza. What a crazy idea! This is really out of the box. Good job!
@ratogodoy Thx for the notification! I fixed it!
This game has potential! I could finish all the level easily, but I believe there is alot what you can do to improve the puzzle effect. Congratulation to your bridge game!
I loved the way the robot looked. The levels were a bit too easy to. I would like to see harder levels!
_Ready to save the world? Just come in into the most famous restaurant in the world. But be careful, since placing the wrong food could end in a big nuclear disaster._
I like when games go political. But I had sometimes the feeling that the food would just disappear when I lay it down on the green arrow. Concerning the graphics, try to stay with the same type. With a consistent art, the game will feel a lot better! Congratulation to your game!
_The time of mad max has arrived. You got strong nerves, and a coffee is like a soda drink, then this game will be something for you!_
@lcstark Nice to see you again!
The graphics had something special. Too bad there was no sound in the game, it would have really pushed it overall.
Those red things (rabbits?) scared the **** out of me. Good job on that one. I really wonder if you would make the word shiny and colorful instead of dark and grey, if the theme of the rabbit might fit in better. I have the feeling that the game design could also apply to a colorful world. The blocks would be a heap of earth instead and they would fall apart. I see the game as a nice colorful platformer a la Mario with nice carrots. Congratulation to your game!
Your hand drew graphics has a delicate touch. I liked the animations of it. It would have been cool if the trees and the sky also would have had some animation. Tetris with animals, what a game!
Oh my, I am not sure if I would do a good job in a restaurant. :smiley:
You nailed the theme! But sometimes I didn’t have the feeling I would stand a chance to keep the dishes on my tablet while they were dropping. But congratulation to your game!
Kazatan, so nice to see you again! My congratulations on your entry! With some molecules, I had some problem to get the hang of it, but I believe that’s the part of being a scientist?! As a suggestion, you could have added a timer, so you could try to beat your own record to get the molecules and the people could post their record. A nice solid game! Good job!
My record was 113 seconds!
Pixel art for life! The game gave me the impression of a consistent pixel art.
Wow! What a psychodelic game?! You really tried to do something experimental here. It was an unstable world with an unstable gravity, that’s for sure. But I am not sure if I understand the deeper meaning of this game. But maybe you are on the right track to express your inner world into a gaming world?!
Congratulation to your entry!
What a masterpiece! All your components fit together like a clockwork! The game reminded me of Stephen King movies. You have definitive have potential to scare other people!
I made the game with 107 attempts.
Those thrusters graphic and sound effects are so outstanding! Overall, this is a wonderful game.
I agree that is cool some else had the same idea like me. If we would bring our ideas together, it could become the best next spaceX game. ;)
But which engineer placed those satellites so close to the landing platform?!?! He should get fired!!
Congratulation to your wonderful entry!
Hey! What a game! I would really watch out that the pharma groups won’t try to sue you because of this game! I liked how you take care of the small mechanical screws like “x - restart level”. Those small improvements have a such big impact on the flow of the game. Congratulation to your magnificent game!
My record was 12.82m.
Your game is a good example of an excellent game design. The core gameplay of the game is fun!
I am so sorry, I punched the red button! This a good example that you don’t need too much fancy things to have a nice core game play. Suggestion: A jump energy bar in form of a banana would have been nice. :banana: :smiley:
Nice fun game, congratulations!
Getting lost in space? Do not fear! Just balance your mass through the universe and you will find a balanced way. Congratulation to your entry!
That’s an excellent game for your first jam! Your pixel art graphics looked very solid. The puzzle was a bit easy though, but next time you will make it a bit harder. :smile:
I got 58 enemies!
I didn’t encounter any bugs, and the game had a nice loop. But I should have been glad to use my energy to increase the light around the player. Sometimes I had the feeling of no chance to evade the spikes. Congratulation to your game!
Nice idea placing the developer's high score into the game. I should have done it in my game too.
Nice game play core! The graphics were crispy and the music mood was perfect! Overall, I enjoyed the game. But because of the build dialog box I could not place the objects where I wanted? In the end, my turrets destroyed all the lander, so they didn’t have a chance to invade though.
Not bad writing a game in python! It’s a hard work to do all that by yourself! To get more this rhythmic feeling, you could have added sound effects when you hit the key success or unsuccessful. Check out this game for that rhythmic feeling:
I call that a dream world! The combination of the colors and the ambient music is really illusionary.
A really nice game! Well done! The atmosphere of the game is charismatic. The graphic design reminded me about the simpsons, though. :)
@elysiagriffin Thanks again for streaming and playing my game! I also appreciate your post work, commenting on the game, posting the high score and linking the video. That’s a bunch of work when I see how many hours/days you streamed and how many games you have been playing. This is really kind of you! Thanks for making this community so great. I wish you all the best with your streaming / gaming career!
The game has potential! If you would do some tweaks here and there, it would have a very nice game loop! But congratulation to your entry!
A deadly addictive game! How did you come up with this idea and all those crazy levels? Impressive!
I don’t have much for improvements since its a solid game:
* Make the game with a higher pixel resolution so you get shadows * Increase and decrease the delay also with the keyboard
The new office simulator! You should add a boss feature. He would run through the office and you have to be careful not to get caught doing some nonsense. ;)
A pleasant city you have built. I never seen that kind of house mechanics before. It’s a good idea so you can see all the roads. I had problems recognizing the game mechanics in its core. Some times the cars were driving past the yellow cubes and sometimes not. But over all congratulations to your entry!
Hey @lcstark !
It’s nice to see you keep up with Ludum Dare!
Congrats to your entry! You have created a small nice little game here. The aim is clear, but I missed some upgrades, since it has this tactical character. Keep up the creation!
What a true story! When you get sense of the game, you can exploit it when you keep your eyes shut but smashes everything!
Congratulation to your entry! Your sound effects reminded me of my game. The sounds were motivating. I had problems to track the end of the game. I had to lose the focus of the ball to check it. Maybe you could place this information more visibly and easier to check? Like position it on the ball directly? Good Job!
This is a harmonic, sympathetic and clean game! With some more tweaks and features, then this game would receive a really nice depth.
I like those games where you have to encounter yourself and your inner demons. They have mass potential, but it’s always very hard to transfer it into a game design. I believe those games can help people in the future much more than we currently think. Nice entry!
A great mood puzzle! This is a true game design what you can achieve with easy mechanics. Well done!
I liked the character pixel art! As a feature request, you could make the lamp rechargeable via a hand generator.
Great music again! Like in the Ludum Dare 48 Blackout, you have created a masterpiece. And your intro is one of the best I have seen during a game jam. It’s pretty impressive how you integrated all those mini games. I don’t have really much space for improvements here. :)
Well done!
Brilliant! Excellent! Genius simple! I love it!
If you would add a “ka ching” for every successful sale, then you would increase the dopamine on the game. ;)
Congratulation to your entry.
You did a lot of 3d models in that small amount of time. I liked the low poly character style. I had some performance issues on my laptop though.
I had the feeling something was missing in your game. Like a specific spice when you cook. Game design does not always need to be complex. A simple idea can change the entire game.
But keep up making games! You will get better and better!
Those good old space pilot games! I was a big fan of jetmen revival game. Maybe you know it?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXTioPEQ3-o
You got the right touch with that neon effect. Adding a nice neon jet thruster might become a feature upgrade?
Simplicity at its finest! A great combo of UI, music, art and game design. A great first game jam entry!
I got two ideas for your feature updates:
* Add outline highlighting when you can chop a tree or throw the trees into the fire. * You could consider adding mouse support for the direction. Maybe the control would be feel easier.
Really appreciated you sharing your game during the stream. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for tuning into the stream and sharing your game with us!
Kaiju? Who's afraid of the big Kaiju? But you should be, so you'd better hurry to get there first!
Congratulations on your entry. The attention to graphic details is evident and truly appreciable. Consider enhancing the game by introducing a combo highlight feature, which rewards players for achieving perfect hits consecutively with a special bonus. Wishing you plenty of fun as you explore the other games in the jam!
Awesome job! My son (7 years old) and I really enjoyed the game! We were truly motivated to play through to the end. This game has a lot of potential. I could envision it as a defense game, where you need to cast spells under time pressure to protect your castle. One small change that could enhance the usability of the game: saving the book page so that when you reopen the book, it returns to the same page.
Greetings from schw3de
@owtuvammo
Thanks for playing the game! I used this game as a therapy session after those countless meetings! I believe you know what I mean? :D
@magui
Thanks for dropping by! You are absolutely right. Just a little bit of sound would have made it much more complete and maybe funnier.
@pincushion
Thanks for your feedback and your awareness of the humor in the game! When you do the next slide in a presentation, the employees will regain some focus. But I had some balancing issues in the first version of the game, which could be the cause of your experience.
@chusmimax
Thanks for your review and feedback! You are absolutely right! Normally I always go for a web version, but the current Godot (C#) version doesn't support WebGL. But I just love Godot and C# so much that I decided to go this way.
@pebkac
Thanks for your comment and dropping by in the stream!
@Hylazu
Thanks for your support! I am sorry to hear that and you were not able to finish the quarter. At that time a bug was in the game, which stopped you from completing the quarter.
@JSMCAG
Glad you enjoyed the humor! Maybe you also know this feeling of being stuck in presentations?! :D
@fenix131113
I thank you for taking the time and playing my game!
@zirrrus
Nice to hear that you got 5 employees! If more employees attend a meeting, the faster they lose their focus. Just like in real life. :D But I am sorry to hear that the game balancing was not good.
@rainybyte
I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the humor! I believe that people who are really stuck in those meetings could enjoy such humor. Maybe you got more employees after the tutorial, because when you get more employees the meetings get harder. Thanks for leaving your feedback and comment!
@milq
Thanks for your very kindly written comment, I really appreciate that! But you are so right! That little extra of music would have turned the game into something completely else. Especially, I could have boosted the humor with sound and music!
@Josion
Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment! Nice to hear you liked the humor!
@itsBoats
Thank you for your comment and dropping by in the stream! Nice to hear you played the game like a real manager! :D Currently, I am trying to make the avatar system as a plugin for Godot, so you could easily create avatars.
Thank you for your detailed and thoroughly thought-out review of my game. You've made some fantastic suggestions and clearly have a great feel for game design! I'm also pleased to see that you've remained loyal to Ludum Dare and have produced a lot of content. Keep it up!
Now, regarding your game: I'm glad to see you've switched to Godot and even stayed loyal to C#—very cool! I hope WebGL support will soon be added in Godot 4. A quick look at the source code showed everything was very structured. I played the post-LD version. There are several games where you need to trace shapes by drawing directly with the mouse. In your version, however, one needs to follow these shapes. This approach is different from others and is positively notable right off the bat. Initially, I had some difficulties using the controls to trace the patterns. Midway through, I couldnt always tell how far I had successfully traced the pattern. Perhaps the pattern itself could be highlighted differently if it isn't traced sufficiently. Sometimes, I was unclear about what exactly was wrong with the pattern, like which lines were not good enough. I also appreciated having the option to choose a different pattern. The idea itself offers many possibilities to integrate game design elements. For example, could an upgrade grant a car or motorcycle, allowing for faster pattern creation? The patterns could also be made larger to require more distance to complete.
Congratulations on your entry! Keep up the good work!
Unfortunately, the cultists forgot to put on their ice skates. It's a total slip-and-slide affair. However, it is a game with a lot of potential for puzzles!
Back to the roots of NES times! It was nostalgic, especially the fire sound was awesome. Sometimes I had trouble flipping the switches, but I always managed to do it in the end. A solid game, congratulations on your submission!
