Wow wow wow, really awesome entry here! The feeling (art + music + game speed + ...) is outstanding! The puzzles were on point too (although not quite in ascending difficulty order).

A few bugs (like on the level with the destructured floor you can touch the goal briefly by jumping from the bottom), but nothing really important. The isometric perspective + weird control directions makes it hard to see where we're going, but that's almost part of the fun.

Don't need rice, 10/10

More a cinematic walk than the puzzle game I was expecting from the gravity-changing mechanic, but it was enjoyable!

The fact that you keep (or quickly regain) your momentum while changing gravity is a bit weird, I often shoot myself where I didn't want to. I also locked myself on level 4 by trying a sneaky shortcut and jumping all the way to the end gate =D

Apart from that, I liked it, the omnious mood with statues everywhere was surprising =)

Central, I processed to play the game. It's daaamn hot, Central.

As always, stunnings visuals, this fire really scares me! The backdraft really are impressive! And it make extinguishing this even more satisfying, if only there were a "psssht" sound =D

As for the ending, it's so frustrating, I wanted to know more, learn why were those nuclear symbols here...

Gameplay-wise, I thinks some balancing could be done to the level length, and to the fire visibility. It's a bit harsh dying to the smallest almost-invisible leftover ember, and having to start again from the beginning the levels (that gets loooong by the end). Maybe the opened doors could stay open and fire re-spread only a bit?

Very awesome game, loved it, it was nicely challenging to reach the bottom! I had a hard time understanding that the fishes' color represents the way to handle them, and once I did I still died once because I spent too much time defending and not enough going deeper. I still don't really know what positive effect the bubbles have tho ^^ (and what's the point of moving into empty rooms, you don't seem to be able to repair them?)

The game is balanced, it was enjoyable! The only thing I'd add would be more visual indications of what's going on, like radio signal sucessful response, fishes starting to go away, the fact that you'll be able to buy upgrades only once, etc.

Overall, I really liked it, especially the UI art and design was perfect! Those buttons, sooo clicky <3

I'm adding three rules to my usual gamejam to-do set : "In less than 10 minutes, Ludum Dare players should have understood what the game has in its belly", "Really take some time to find controls that feel naturals to most players, including mouse and controllers" and "Each game rule should be explained indepentently from each other, by the game/level design at some point".

Gonna use them wisely in my future jam games <3

I managed to reach checkpoint 7(?) before the horrible room with 3 doors. 428 deaths in, I can't take any more, this is the first game of this jam that I give up on. In was incredibly fun tho, I really enjoyed it (and got to see a secret message, but I'm not sure I was the target, my name isn't Mina =D).

To nitpick, the only things I'll change would be the spaceship hitbox (it's super frustrating to die hitting the top corners of the square), and the placement/spacing of the checkpoints, some feels weird, some need too much re-doing when you die. My opinion, tho =)

Nice entry! I must admit playing it longer than I planned to =D

The gameplay and progression feels a bit like a clicker/idle game, that's actually satisfying. And digging strait down super fast after a while is really fun!

The art needs a lot of refining, obviously, but it gets to the point ^^ I feel like progression-wise some balancing could be done, I almost locked myself when I bought heat resistance before mining speed, and was stuck in a slow-mining hell where I couldn't suicide, and it would have took ages to get back up.

I was a bit dissapointed to reach the purple blocks after depth 1015, it's kinda a "can't go further" game end with the inneficient mining speed. The death message made me believe there would be a area with low visibility after =D

Overall, I enjoyed it!

I think I had a little bug when the game locked me on "as you grow old, you grow impatient [...]", unable to pick a choice. Finally, I killed someone, reached an end, got to relax with my favorite jawbreaker, but it says "game over", did I win?

Overall, the story is nice and immersive, but I found it hard to know what I was doing. I couldn't really "choose" which path to follow, as some of them lead to instant death. Maybe clear textual choices instead of icons would have helped? I don't know =) It would also have been nice to know when and why we got something added to our inventory, I often opened it and was like "ooh, when did I looted that?". It would have allowed us to better learn what's the best path for future plays =D

Indeed... until the acceleration point where your only choices left are "take big risks to earn point" vs. "watch your score get slowly eaten away" (at least, that's my purposely-designed intent)

I already cut down a whole bunch of get-back-in-action time compared to my previous games, but maybe I should do it even more. Sorry it happened. It's actually a visual-only bug, you're still harvesting the turnip and will get unstuck after the correct amount of time. It's a tryharder-only bug as it happen when you press jump frame-perfectly right before landing on a turnip :sunglasses: Sadly, I saw it a bit too late and wasn't able to fix it before the deadline =( Still happy you enjoyed the game, very very nice score!

I really liked the "pick up enemies moveset" mechanic. Focusing on dodging to the point of bullet-hell is fun too!

Maybe allowing to let the key pressed for continuous firing would have been a great addition =) A bit more-satisfying sounds (don't know how to say it but boops instead of beeps, maybe even mouth-made to keep on with the realistic cabbage picture humor). Online leaderboards are hard to implement, but good for hooking players too :grin:

To improve the graphics feeling, maybe you could embrace the pixel art style you have, and make each sprite 4x smaller but zoom on them x4? It will feel more polished. (in CTF it can be done by either having a smaller window simply zommed up.... or separating the hitbox active from a sprite active, always positionning the sprite atop the hitbox, and at the beginning of the scene set every sprite's scale to x4. It's more complicated that way, but the game will feel smoother)

I was talking about resolution mostly to point a way in which you can imho make the graphics feel more polished ^^ Otherwise, comments have said most of it :grin: Movements are a bit fiddly and you often get stuck, but the summoning mechanic is well thought (I especially liked the final pentacle where you have to use the power of each). The huuuuuuge level design would be fine with a "hack&slash" dynamic, but as yours is less intense and feels more like a puzzle (as you are vulnerable while summoning, you have to take a lot of care). After a while, I personally ended up ignoring everything, running straight to the next point, opening the path while dying, and coming back running after the respawn to reach the next zone. The tutorialisation is well made, it was nice having dialogs teach you what you just did :thumbsup:

If you want to improve the platforming feeling look for : coyote time, edge jump deflection, jump input buffering, ledge grabbing, etc. It's all doable in GM and will make a world of difference.

If feel like you could keep adding onto this game, it's a solid base :thumbsup:

I went all the way to get a warm mushroom stew in my bucket, but didn't what to do with it. Trying giving it to an old man, but I guess it wasn't to his taste. I was killed on the way to see if I can spill some on the altar, and didn't have the strength to redo it all ^^

I was in vocal with a friend, and I really didn't understand at first that all the noises were from the game. Kinda disturbing :joy: Love the handcrafted vibe of "I'll blow on my mic, roll my chair wheels, and open the window to record birds" :ok_hand: The 1-bit pixelart was nice and effective.

I guess the game would have been even nicer with a way to understand the summoning recipe, not only relying on randomly stumbling on ingredients (maybe have the wendigo push you in a specific area, or writing, ... ?)

Incredibly game as always. The feeling when you make a huge circle and every soul gather into that big boss demon, sooooooooooo good!!

Graphics are on point, fun is top-notch, and music is very :ok_hand:

Balancing is very nice too, at first I thought "hey, just wait for a longer trail and I can cheese that", but it turns out that you have to keep a balance between not too many weak one, and not too few demons in total. Death by being overwhelmed after greedly focusing on 1 single demon felt... rightfully punishing :joy:

Loved it, will replay more for sure! :fire:

Didn't try the speedrunning mode, but I really really understand how fun it should be to try and find efficient routes through those levels. I kinda already abused it in my scenario play, quickly alternating tunnels directions and making dangerous falls around spikes, thinking it was the strangely-hard designed path, only to find out later that I skipped half the map.

Very enjoyable, loved it!!

Anyway, impressive graphics for a compo, good use of the foreground shadow play! The runes made me a bit nostalgique of the Diablo II era =D

It was a bit tedious restarting from 0 after a mistake, and I kinda wish that there was a mechanic to quickly re-summon a previously obtained monster. I feel like there's not much missing and the recipe exploration mechanic could be fun and satisfying! Keep up the good work ✨

I think the game could be enhanced with a non-minimalist 3D universe, and designing some kind of linearity in the clue progression. (having all corridors open from the start is a bit frustrating)

The candle burning down was a very nice diegetic way of implementing a timer, well thought!

I think that with a more defined incentive the game would be even better (maybe when you enter a level, pick an goal between "finish before X minutes", "earch X money" or "gather X souls"?)

Overall : nice compo game, well done for a first one! Keep up the good work!

About the seeded random, I choose not to for replayability's sake. But I always balance the randomness **a lot** by using bags, scaling on skill, and such... So that in the short term luck matters, but in the long term it doesn't! =)

@Sevadusk the fixed version is only about a true weirdness where a fish would block himself, standing angrily at the bottom... I don't wanna "fix" the balancing of the fish spawning, it seems against the rules. If I messed that up, too bad, I'll do better in post-jam :sweat:

(If you're wondering tho, it lacks intuitivity but the fish always spawn a bit to your right, hence he's truely only dangerous when you're playing on the left because you ovbiously corner yourself...)

The UI animation were nice, I only wished for a bit of QoL like for dice dropped onto a plot to snap into their respective slot, or the ability to drop-swap dices.

With the only addition of teaching the players which combinations work, which don't, and especially why, it could be perfect. (A recipe book or I-don't-know-what) The satisfaction of seeing points accumulate is already very strong =)

Congrats on the first compo game, I dig the "dev art" :grin: Maybe try BFXR-like tools for some easy sounds fx, to juice up the gameplay (bigger fireballs too... they're never too big!)

It seems like you health don't reset when the game does, so on you 2nd+ try you'll get oneshot. Took me 3 death to figure this, F5 to restart the whole game, and then Satan got his chad 6-pack kicked hard!

I had a blast! The gameplay is obviously simple, but you really nailed the "just one more game!" feeling, very addicting! The difficulty ramping up is nicely balanced, felt great. My only complain is that the double jump is a bit unreliable, tho maybe it's my keyboard I don't know :sweat_smile:

Awesome entry! My first game was super bad, but then it clicked and I had fun replaying it for several tries! Makes me feel stupid, but in a good way :joy: I like that the random element is dealt to you and you choose how you handle it, it feels great to overcome a seemingly-bad rng :sparkles:
