Maybe I'm not getting it but the "start" button is not working for me??? Looks very cool though! I'll wait and see if I figure out how to play it :)

colisan 2025-04-07 15:23

I can't find the 6 pieces, the base32s doesn't seem to lead anywhere aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

(note: 1223 is a prime number too, I got confused )

Very nice puzzle game, I'll come back later to see if I can find something! I really loved the retro aesthetic!

angry-fridge 2025-04-07 18:19

Hmm, I hit start but nothing happens, is that intentional?

colisan 2025-04-07 19:34

@sarellano @angry-fridge it's a "solving web mystery" type of game, the Start menu is indeed fake and not the way to progress 👀

I'll come back later as I could not figure out the ~~trying to be cryptic here~~ x amount of numbers I need to punch into the vault. I came that far! Some feedback for now:

- The 2.4KB flag threw me off, as "2" does meet the requirements of one of the puzzlepieces in that puzzle - The glitch effect is very distracting / a bit annoying for reading. Maybe that could be less. Unless... It's morsecode, I tried several times to decode that sequence, but I think it is random and just part of the atmosphere - The start button is the first thing people will press, including me  - When right clicking the text input field there is a whole context menu! :o Me as a programmer love that kinds of details! Did you make that yourself? Or is it some sort of standard object in the engine you used?

If I need to, I will change the ratings later when I finish the game

- Edit 20250412: still not found. I had a gut feeling-but I don't know how to translate it into numbers yet. A certain way of writing-was bugging me. - Edit 20250413: @lizz and I both looked into it. Still no answer - Edit 20250414: I refuse to look at the hints, still crunchin' though!

Damn, the last step was difficult! I had to check the solution in the source code and re-read the previous pages to understand what I had to find. Especially since we can't go back to previous screens easily, unless we wrote the URLs!

- I agree, the glitch effect is too much and makes it difficult to read the text. - 2, 1223 and 6737 are primes but not part of the solution, which might be a bit misleading? Not a big deal tho, we can still find the solution after trying a bunch of stuff. - A back button, to get back to the previous page, would be great. Even if it doesn't make sense lore-wise, I feel like it's better than having to restart because we missing something.

But overall, it's great entry that reminds me of CTFs and similar hacking challenges online!

I like the idea and you did a pretty good job pulling off the aesthetic of computers from that era. @paul-maxime also went for an old school computer desktop. If I had more time on my entry, I would've done the same (maybe I'll go back and do it!)

That said, the glitch effect and the CRT bevel/lines made it really hard to read. I had to give up fairly early to avoid a headache. I think it would have been much more visually striking without them, and maybe with less zoom. Neat idea, even if I did find it a bit puzzling to play!

muriel 2025-04-13 18:26

I really love this kind of retro graphics, the postprocessing effects are neat and also I liked the user interface of the mail client.

I will need to come back to it later on, but this is definitely on my bookmarks as I really want to solve the mystery/puzzle.

grid96 2025-04-15 20:28

Very cool and engaging game! Loved the hint for the first riddle. However that glitch effect got a little to intense for me, keeping me from reading all the text. All in all it was very atmospheric though, even without sound.

wouter52 2025-04-15 21:02

GOT IT! I'll let this sink in and give some proper feedback later, as the last puzzle changed some perspectives. Also, I have to be careful to not spoil anything

I had to use the tips. Glad I did because I would never have figured it out.

wouter52 2025-04-16 18:08

Ok ok, I decided to use base32 encoding for the feedback so nothing is spoiled for others. Here you can decode it:
