Great fun! I'm not very good at it though...

Great fun! I'm not very good at it though...
Fun! Even though I got squished.
This is really easy to pick up and play and seems easy to win until you get greedy...
I love it!
Wow! Art and music is on points and it plays flawlessly. Really enjoyed playing this one :]
Good fun and nice art
Honestly im blown away. This is the most fun, highest quality game I've played in ludum dare. I find it incredibly hard to believe it was made in 48 hours.
I want to play this on a handheld. This is a very cute and fun game.
That's definitely one of the best ones. It's hard. But delightful graphics, good audio, nice tight gameplay. Very well done!
I love it, great art, sounds and music. Super fun game. I would love to see this on cellphones.
So far my favorite game on ld40. Original gameplay, easy to understand, fits the theme, is challenging, and has charming visuals.
As a tip for anyone else playing: you can wall-jump on boxes and also on the outer wall.
I liked this. It's cute and feels quite polished. There's even a special effect for when you die (the room goes dark except for a spotlight pointed at the player)
Game with high completeness. I like all the details and juicy features. The visual, audio, control feedback is just awesome. You must be a veteran for game dev!
I probably will sound like a jerk, but this game marked as COMPO. And it was made in Construct 2. There's no sources (you clearly can't call compiled JS as source).
The game itself is great (it almost broke my fingers however).
@s-ed Oh no! I forgot to upload the source, it's on itch.io now. Thanks for the heads up. (And sorry for the broken fingers!)
Cool game. I think the laser boxes are bit harsh. Would be fun to have another penalty for being hit besides instant death.
Wow, this is really addictive. It's a bit laggy when doing combos, but otherwise it's very enjoyable. I love the art (and sound design)!
@hacksawunit No worries, it was masochistic pleasure.
Just in case people would love to play it more, there are 2 apps that allow you to bind Keyboard controls to GamePad:
[J2K](https://emulation-evolved.net/) (by MK2k )
[JoyToKey](http://vision.dormantcore.net/joytokey-3-79-english-version-jtk379en-zip/) (3.7.9 by Ryo Ohkubo, do not look for updated version, it is paid and seems not maintained by the same author)
Fun idea. Controls were a bit hard to get used too. Couldn't figure out what "stomp" was supposed to do.
Whoa, awesome game!
Definitely a fun mini-platformer, but it seems like the best strategy is to try and keep the board clear rather than go for combos; I can imagine with more time there'd more than just a high score to chase, though. I'd love to play this game (more-or-less as-is) on my phone, too.
Controls were weird. Felt like I could have done with W/S being Jump/stomp, or space or something.
Otherwise a fun little platformer.
Lovely art, but I didn't really understand what I was meant to be doing apart from dodging the boxes. I did the best by just spamming L and K randomly...
Wow! For 48 Hours this has great polish and feels very balanced. Also apart from taking a minute to figure out that I break boxed with "K" it was incredibly easy to pick up. Played a good 3 Minutes on my first try :)
Very good game. Combining platformer and blockpuzzlemechanics is difficult. This is on par with Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe. Loved it. 13610 points in the first try.
Only critique is that i would want another control scheme
Really fun platformer, tight gameplay, and cool retropixelly graphics! Controls take some time getting used to as it could have been direction keys. You get stuck if you jump at the same time the block spawns. Solid entry!
quite polished, but didnt really enjoy it.
24820 points!! Amazing game, really fun :) I love how you reused te elements in many different ways.
Amazing game and concept! The controls feel very good too.
Didn't work on Chromium at all, on Firefox I had to disable type to search. Very nice, but waaaay to hard for me — I couldn't even stamp one box with those controls. I'm right-handed, so the direction keys on left are super-tough to control.
Looks really cool, would be a great mobile game i think.
I'm sticking with my high of 13440 [:
sweet little game, the controls seem a bit odd and don't feel natural to me but other than that this is an awesome lil game. Good job!
I loved the graphic style and the combos especially, they made you want to get that rainbow 2.5k points every time!
This is another awesome game. Great graphics, smart use of the them and flawless gameplay. It only needs a good background music, except for that this is almost perfect score for me.
Awesome game! Great sounds+music and graphics. The controls feel good. The game is really polished too. Well done! :)
Really fun little game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz5gIdXHSCQ
Really awesome submission. If there is only one negative thing to say, it's that I had a hard time de-syncing my jump-stomp rhythm from the one of the background music... that don't match the box falling cadency. That little thing apart, everything is beyond perfection.
Awesome entry! I sometimes felt like "L" button is not responding, but it was probably a problem on my side. Great job!
I like that you focused on a simple idea, polished the crap out of it. Nice work.
I really liked this! The level of polish was great.
This appear to be simple but the controls are really polished. Great job!
Great controls, simple concept but hits the theme well. I did have a hard time to stomp the stuff. One of my favorite entries so far.
Youre game once again is fantastic! Altho the controls feel a bit weird.
I love the game, pixel art, sounds, and gameplay feel solid. My major grip is the controls. They are really awkward.
Couldn't you get the job done by doing WASD/Arrow keys, like most games?
Other than that, the collision I sorta hate, just would make it have some leeway, and pushes you to the edge if you are just barely touching it. Love it though!
What a fun freakin' game! I love the combo and the sound. The player feedback is top notch whenever you combo. Fantastic!
Awesome game, really fun and addictive. Well done!
Awesome! It's exactly as cool as I expected! I really like the art style and the feel of the game! solid 9/10!
definitely my favorite game so far, graphically and gameplay wise!
This is almost a perfect game! Loved the laser boxes, very cool idea. Great job.
Great, especially the falling crates felt heavy (thought they might need a sound effect. Also, when you die, you know exactly why. You might want to use WASD + some action key next time, the controls are a little hard to get into. Pretty nice mechanics based on the theme.
This is excellent! Looks great, super satisfying to play and feels complete. not like a prototype for something bigger or more developed.
This reminds me a lot of an old handy game where you managed a warehouse. Realy good game. I like how the movement feels.
Awesome game! Really fun man!
Clever mechanic, clever use of the theme, and clever title haha! The art style is amazing and the sound complements the game perfectly. Such a fun game, I love it!
This is crazy good!
I agree with most above, this game is incredibly well polished for a compo game. bravo!
Great fun! The controls are a bit weird, but it works perfectly, plays great, and has some real cool mechanics.
Awesome game! Great graphics and nice sfx. Controls felt quite intuitive for me. I would have loved to see an indicator how long it will take til the next box drops down.
Very smooth, fun, and nice looking! Well done
Awesome. At the moment my favourite submission.
definitely one of my favorites so far! love it!
Simple game with lots of fun, great!
Really interesting one. But you could added the STOMP to the same button of the jump, when it is jumping you can stomp, it would give a bit more of playability. Very good entry btw.
A very very nicely done arcade game.
Like all great entries, the gameplay is simple (not simplistic - just not confused/mushy) - it doesn't try to do too much and that gave you time to make sure it feels great to play. Love all the little notes of polish!
My high score is 8360 right now but I'm sure I can do better ;)
A well designed arcade game, I found myself engaged in thescoring system. Very satisfying when you can blast through a big combo.
Really great game! Love the feeling of stomping through 5 boxes in a row!
Very funny to play! Good mechanic and good realition to the theme! Congrats!
I remember seeing a blog post of this game and wanting to play it when it was done, its awesome I was able to find it again! It was a lot of fun and the controls were very tight. Question though, how are you supposed to deal with the skull boxes, or do they stay forever?
@Ziamor The skull boxes are invincible! Don't get too greedy or you'll lose your combo potential!
Great game, fast, with an interesting design and simple control. Congratulations for the game. And I think with background music, it would feel even better.
Ótimo jogo, rápido, com um design interessante e um controle simples. Parabéns pelo jogo. E acho que com uma música de fundo, teria uma sensação ainda melhor.
It's polished and feels nice! Once I got used to the mechanics, I thought it was maybe a little too easy? It could be nice to ramp up the difficulty while also providing more options for movement.
Its a really good game simple and a lot of action ;) Good job
Love this game really! Awesome idea! Only bad thing is awful controls. Can't play with ad lk controls =(
You need to make this a mobile game!!!
Owow, that's a nice entry, the snapping felt weird for a few games then you get uses to it and it flows nicely. Good job :D
Awesome little game, with such a good and innovative idea that fits the theme very well! Really hard for me though, but I'm generally quite bad jumpy games :joy:
High: 30999. This game is a-a-a-a-awesome! Love everything on it. I'd to spend some time to get the wall climb and jump timings, and after that, man, 5 box combos are impressive. And when came the skull box was a surprise (just tought that the game would end when hits the red mark). Best game that i played for this LdJam by now. Update: High: 32050 and just ONCE i was able to smash box in 2 different rows at the same time. Tried to do this again but i couldn't. :)
It reminds me a lot of a game it was on Siemens mobiles many years ago, which was about boxes falling too and I felt so nostalgic! Love the graphics and the idea, it's well executed and looks very polished. Congratulations! ^^
Sorry for the triple message >_>
Sorry for the triple message >_>
I love the pixel art and look of the game. It is a nice fun, neat idea, good work!
Great Game! Love the art and sound. Controls were hard tho.
Really enjoyable game, great job. Very fun to play. :)
It is sort of a reverse tetris thing which is different. The controls did feel a bit unresponsive at times, but the jump-stomping on boxes was quite satisfying.
Very simple mechanics. Great Job!
This game is probably one of my favorites from ludem dare 40. AMAZING JOB!
great game
I just came back to say I hate this game. I've been playing it over and over again instead of playing other games. It's too damn addictive!
I like this one a lot!
Great concept, I really enjoyed playing it !
Incredible game ! Once you've get it, it's addictive! And the game design is really clever, as well as the graphics and sound! Really nice job!
Right balance of features and polish. Hard but fun!
Very hectic, fun with good graphics and audio.
Nice basic art style coupled with simple and fun gameplay. Nice job!
Really like the presentation and simplicity of it, it's a nice challenge. I don't get why simple WASD/Arrow Key Controls wouldn't have worked though. But still, very nice game!
Awsome job! Very well polished and quite solid game. Congrats :D
This game inspired me to realize my dream of become a full-time packer and I just sent my application to Amazon. 5 stars.
This game is amazing! The art is good and the game play is original! My highscore is 10620.
Amazing game. This type of puzzle platformers (e.g. Wario's Woods, Super Puzzle Platformer) is one of my favorite genres, and Cardhoard is absolutely among the best of them.
I would love to see a full release of this game.
OK this was pretty great. Very fun and clever puzzle platformer. The combos are satisfying (which is one of the most important part of action puzzle games IMO)
Great scope for a LD game as well - feels perfectly realized, but the idea could easily be expanded as well.
I really like this. Definitely one of my favorites so far. It was a very clever idea, executed well, and the level of polish was insane for a compo game. I would love to see a full version of this. Great game!
I wouldn't be surprised to see this game take 1st in one category or another. Given how many of these I want to play, running across the ones that make me say "just one more!" is really impressive.
Great game! I just scored 15780.
Really nice pixel art, really nice game feel, love the sound design, this is probably my favorite submission I've played yet. Really fantastic job!
Great game! Felt a bit laggy when getting the combos, not sure why though... Control scheme was a bit odd. I would have thrown in a couple more options just in case, like up/space. Love the level of polish on it
Great game! Really addictive!
Got confused how to play ya
super fun! great job
Expertly scoped development. This game feels entirely complete for its size, which is rare among submissions here. While small, it's fun and satisfying, with an excellent aesthetic. My only, minor criticism is that I don't feel that the theme is very present in your work. Other than that, fantastic.
The game is very fun and feels completed and polished. Good job!
I love the screen shake when the boxes slam down. Stomping is very satisfying. Well done.
Game is quite consistent overall! Great Style and gemeplay! Smaller space makes it more difficult and engaging.
Probably the coolest ludum game I've played in a long time. Extremely well thought out and cleverly executed. Amazing Work!
love everything about it! awesome job!
You've dug your evil tendrils into my friend and he won't stop playing this. A curse on you HacksawUnit, a curse on you all!
Also, if possible, check out and rate my game I made with a few others. It's a card game with a twist: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/smash-smash-destroy-the-west-jangnanmon
favourite game so far!
Great game, I like the bouncy pixel art. The gameplay is really fun.
Beautifulll graphics, great sounds and simple, but addictive as hell gameplay. Great job!
Awesome entry! Definitely one of my favorites so far. The art and sounds are just great. I had lot o fun playing it. Very simple mechanics, but very engaging, making you challenge yourself to play it again and again. It feels very polished, so, impressive work for just 48h. I got used to the controls, but I don't think it was a good decision to impose it. Great job!
Simple and well made game! Great graphics and audio!
Nice one! The controls feel great! A shame I suck at this kind if game.
Great fun!
what a simple and nice game. good job
It's great. Beautiful polish, nice graphics, very fun gameplay, good audio. It just ticks all the boxes.
What engine did you use to make it?
Nice and simple game, could be on mobile!
Super impressive , i love the concept ( i am nearly addict ) and it's really polish for a Compo Project so GG !!!
Very impressive to have this done in a compo;
followed you making this and it did not dissapoint - so well made and i really like the use of the theme - great work
LIttle funny addictive game, this will be a great game if its launched for mobiles. (although there were many in the similar category). the gameplay is fun and addictive.
Insanely fun and enjoyable, I've found myself coming back to it tons of times throughout the week. The lasers felt a bit out of place though, and some music while playing would've been nice, but the gameplay is spot on.
Saw your game on Jupiter Hadley's youtube channel and other LD40 coverage. Looks great. My entry for LD40 also involved an employee of a delivery company, although yours is better than mine by far. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/united-parcel-force
application-icon-small.png
Very nicely done game, great work! <3
Flawless victory :D
I usually give detailed feedback and I pretty much have none :)
The graphics are fantastic, the bounce on the character is gorgeous, the sounds are spot on, the controls are tight and perfect, it's amazing, it's done :)
Perhaps the only thing I can offer is that it doesn't *quite* fit the theme so well, but heck it wasn't *the worst* theme fit I've ever seen <3
Fun mechanic, Smooth gameplay, smoothly executed, satisfying audio, incredible graphics and interesting atmosphere!
Incredible!
brilliant game. nice graphics and gameplay.
This Game is awesome. The best game I played for LD#40 so far. Great job.
Well executed. Just about everything is tuned perfectly. Awesome Job!
Simple, fast and fun. Just good! (best: 21620)
If this had controller support it would be one of the tightest games I've ever played on Ludum Dare. Fantastic work. Keep it up.
Great game!
VERY GOOD
Very nice, the gameplay is neat and addictive and done with the right pace. Great job!
Very fun game and cool mechanic. I don't know why you have the controls a bit weird but I got used to them and was really fun. :)
Really tight controls and engaging for what a small game it is. Nice art and the sounds are perfect. Nice one!
Really amazing entry for a compo game
Somewhat hard but the controls are very good. What a good game!
good idea, funny gameplay. Nice Game!
I think there was a time slow, when you destroy a package right? If so, that was making it hard to predict when the next package is coming down. What I mean is, if on place 1 there is a package, and the next package will come down at place 1. Then in the moment I do destroy the package, time is slowed. Therefore its kind of hard to know when the package comes down exactly. Idk maybe at the top, the package could be shown, slowly coming down for the first 2% of its path, and then the rest is that normal speed you give them.
You made a really good game :)
Fantastic graphics tho it took me a while to get used to the controllers
@bluemirror Excellent feedback. I will take this into account for any future versions of the game.
That's a lot of comments xD For me, it got easier once I figured out I can stomp the boxes not only after jumping on them from below, but from the top too. Oh and that taping sound gave me the creeps lol
Awesome game. Really polished with some great animations.
this is the best arcade-style game I've played this jam! really awesome work. the only things i would like to see are music and a leaderboard, but those are definitely minor bonuses in comparison to what you have already. :eye:
Really fun to play. I almost feel like this is the opposite of the theme though, because you actually get more points when you have more boxes stacked.
Without a doubt the most fun of the ld40 I've played thus far. I highly recommend some music bgm though, but the sfx are spot on, even in large rooms.
Simple idea executed well! I liked the polished gameplay mechanics and the shakiness of the screen. The UI looks pretty nice too. I am not really sure this is a glitch or if it was intentional, but I could continually jump on the walls to climb in the game. Also, some retro music would greatly improve the quality of this game.
Very nice game! It's nice how fast it is to restart when you lose.
Guys this is awesome :D Really simple but so clean & fun :D WP!
@d-studios Being able to climb is a feature! The character's super-tough tape gun lets her scale walls and packages. Thank you for playing and for the feedback.
Simple, sweet and novel game idea combined with excellent production values and great attention to detail! What's not to love?
This is such a great game, I wish there was controller support and I would be playing this for hours! The gameplay is very easy and compelling. The challenge is really well balanced. The concept is also great. Being crushed or missing a beat doesn't feel too punishing, it is reasonable. The risk reward system of stacking high to get more points vs missing the stack is very clever game design. This is one of the best games I have played in LD 40. Great job!
stupidly addictive
Yea you were right, you do get used to the controls. Love smashing many boxes under each other
There's a lesson to be learned from this entry - keep scope small and polish! You've done a great job, and I'll need to keep this more in mind for my next entry. Well done.
2017-12-10 10_25_36-Cardhoard by HacksawUnit.png I just can't get any higher than that, the speed up after 20k is too much for me.
This's the most fun I've had with an entry so far and it just feels so polished. My only gripe is that even 4 blocks can spawn in the same column after each other, which feels at least a bit unfair.
One of the best entries I've played so far, this is so addictive! I don't have much else to say, this is a really polished arcade game, you did a fantastic job!
Absolutely amazing! Fast, flashy, well animated, great sound effects. The game has it all. I would love to play this thing on my phone :)
This game looks to be receiving a lot of praise – and for good reason! Cardhoard is a fantastic game with simple mechanics that are easy to pick up yet challenging to master. The art style is clean and friendly while the animations feel snappy and fun. Every action in the game has visual and audible juice, resulting in everything you do feeling appropriately impactful. The combos for butt-slamming more boxes at once is really fun and entices the player to try for even higher combos. The game is even more impressive when you realize it was a compo entry. Excellent work!
Loved how polished this felt playing it. Such a great combination of graphics and gameplay. The jumping and stomping on boxes was really satisfying and quite addictive. Made me want to keep trying to beat my previous score which is always a good sign.
I enjoyed this game so much, I think it should win LD40. Please add controller support
Good fun. For controls, gamepad support would have really helped (or even up arrow to jump / down arrow to squash). Really makes me want to play this on the old gameboy for some reason. Nice job.
A really fun idea, controls can get used to although I still would have prefered a directional key + ZXC control scheme or gamepad controls. I like the pixel art and the polish on the animations.
This is by far one of the best games I've played this ludum dare. Everything is so smartly tied together. It's neat, well polished and the feedback is excellent. But why make L the jumping key ? :'( it's making the game much more difficult than it should. Were it bound to space, this would be a perfect game !
Best game of the Ludum. Simple, Fun, Addictive, respects the theme really well, nice graphism, nice sound and feekback. DAYUM I LOVE THIS GAME.
34 735 btw, who wants to give it a try?
Most fun game I've played in this Jam +
I absolutely love this game, so much fun! It is so incredible and the art is AMAZING!
Can't. Stop. BASHING!
This game doesn't work in Chrome. However, it works like a charm in Firefox and it's perfect.
Hey Hacksaw! I played your game so much I completely forgot to enter the rating. It came up in my queue again and now I've caught up on that. As I said it's super polished and fun. x3
@tyrannas, beaten! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
cardhoard.png
Capture.PNG @yngvarr this is a fight you cannot win young padawan
Nice and complete game concept, well done! If only I was any good at it...
Ooh yeah, that's really satisfying once you get the hang of it! The K key feels a touch unresponsive, but other than that this is a really simple and innovative concept well executed, and it looks and sounds gorgeous.
Wow! I want this on a little raspberry pi diy gameboy. That would be dope. One of my favorite entries. It excels in its simplicity and gets straight to the core components. Very well thought out, fun game design. Juicy. My one critique is that the music gets drowned out a little.
Really impressive work! I love how simple it is and how easily you can pick it up and play. It feels very polished and well contained, the graphics are great, and the audio is very fitting. This is a fantastic entry. :) The only complaint that I have is that the controls aren't very intuitive. I think arrow keys might make the game a bit easier to navigate.
GGreat work, I played this game more than other games combined. realy fun to play
@tyrannas, you underestimate my power!
cardhoard.png
very addictive
Wow, simple but great game. I really love the mechanics. Gameplay wise could use some more adjustments, but really great for a 48 hours game. Controls are kinda weird but it's only 2 buttons so whatever. Takes a bit of time to get used to.
I see some great highscores here. However, not good enough @Yngvarr :smiling_imp:hs.png
@vija02, you're strong, but can you do better? (dammit, now we're turning comments into a scoreboard... -_-) I'm stuck in this game, somebody help me!
cardhoard.png
@yngvarr Sure i can  (Dammit, i have a deadline due tomorrow) hs.png
Very nice game! Indeed, I had to get used to the controls. Also it took a while before I noticed I could wall jump with my tape dispenser, very clever. ^^ The high score seemed to be pre-set to 7500, which I didn't get for many attempts. :P It was quite addictive, and I made it to 23860. Sometimes it was annoying that I couldn't abort my stomping action of several crates to run away for the next incoming crate. I liked the music and the graphics, I am blown away that you made all this in 48h! :o Congrats!
So simple, yet soooo fun!
I had fun smashing the packages. I wish I could have just pressed "K" to smash the boxes, instead of having to jump first. I was a little confused about what the lines on the boxes meant when you touch them, but it looks like I got 30 points for them. I thought the game was over when the boxes got pass the red line, but it looked like it just made a indestructible skull box.
Hey I saw you posting about this in the discord when you were working on it; turned out pretty good. I did find the controls awkward, I think just having standard wasd (a to jump and s to slam) or arrow keys would be more intuitive. Once I figured out the controls and got into the rhythm it was pretty enjoyable, the screenshake effects and sound effects really add a lot of mmph and make it feel great. But I feel like it doesn't really reward risks enough: playing safe and destroying every crate as soon as it lands will end up netting way more points than trying to let a stack get three high, since if a fourth block happens to land on it you can't jump high enough to get on top and just have to hope another block lands nearby and not on top. Overall I think this is a strong entry with a lot of polish. The variety of block types add a lot of dynamic to this and I could see this becoming a a successful mobile game possibly.
@vija02 @Yngvarr Had some plans for the weekend. Definitely going to cancel them.
great game!
Very fun game man! Smooth gameplay, simple yet fun! I enjoyed it a lot, well done!
really cool game, the graphics, movement sound, everything very well done, but the controlls... why L and K? W and S or arrows would be much more intuitive(also easier with one hand)
Too good! Certain one of bests of this Ludum Dare! Finding flaws was a hard task, but I guess that when the game was faster, avoiding some boxes that came in specific moments was almost impossible.
My high score was 24910.
fun and simple entry!
5 out fo 5, best game in the Ja-- wait, this is a Compo game?? Amazing.
I got used the controls very quickly. One nice touch is how we get more points when stomping a higher pile: this gives more experienced players something interesting to do in the beginning when the boxes don't fall that quickly. It's easy to make a game adjust its difficult by making it get faster and faster until it reaches the player's skill level, but making that slower section more difficult by convincing the player to make it harder for themselves is a much more impressive feat! The fact that sealing the boxes first is encouraged (required for combos, allows you to clear a column more quickly) but not necessary is another way in which you accomplish the same effect. Bravo!
I only have one improvement to recommend: maybe add some special case logic to avoid immediately adding extra crates to the columns which have only just become full? Because of the combo system, there is an incentive to let the columns get full on purpose and to clear them at the last minute, but it's not possible to do so when the box which makes them full is immediately followed by another box. Because of the incentive, when this happens it doesn't feel like it's my fault for letting the column get so out of hand, it just feels unfair.
@yngvarr, it works fine for me in Chrome 63.0.3239.84
Wow, I've always wanted to make a game like this for LD. The controls here are very tight and all of the mechanics are wonderfully designed and integrated together into a complete package. You don't have to explain all of the details of the game besides the basic controls because all of them make complete sense and are a joy to figure out while playing. Climbing, sliding, comboing...it all works together very well! The little details like screen shake and the little sound jingles when comboing are great too.
One of the best I've seen so far!
This game was a lot of fun with its simple design but well executed graphics and controls
A brilliant entry! This has to be one of the best Compo games I have played so far. Everything is so polished and works very well.
The concept is great and the execution flawless. I love your choice of sound effects, they tie everything together perfectly, especially that "smack" sound when you mark a box. Did you record that yourself, because the other sounds seem generated except of this one?
The music is simple and unintrusive so it provides a good auditive backdrop while letting the game speak for itself.
Gameplay-wise it took me a while to figure out you were able to stomp so my first round consisted of avoiding boxes until the skull boxes accumulated to the top. At this point the games gets stuck in an endless loop because it repeatedly creates skull boxes on that column. After I figured out how to properly play the game that wasn't a problem anymore though.
Overall the game offers the perfect balance between trying to get combos and trying not to play too risky to avoid getting squashed.
Flawless balancing and execution. No major criticism. Definitely a keeper.
*Edit:* Maybe a tiny thing, although that could be by design: I think the player would have more control over the game if you allowed to break the stomp chain because if a new block arrives at the current stomping column, the player has no chance to escape and this is an element of pure luck/risk and the rest of the game is firmly based on skill/risk.
Wow. That's pretty awesome and moderately addictive. I even managed to get over 7500! <insert lots of praise here>. Suffice it to say it's complete, got pretty simple controls, and it's fun. Presumably it's kind of an endless game... The graphics are good, but fairly simple. The sound effects work really well.
Not sure if it was intentional or not, but L=Jump and K=Stomp is sort of backwards of the ideal selection since you have to go backwards to the previous key to stomp.
Very good arcade game! The points system is very well thought out, which forces you to take risks in order to get as many points as possible. I like it !
It's a grreat game! it is pretty fair and the learning curve is nice. It's one of those games where you learn from every "run", and get better. The only flaw there is is that when you are breaking the tall piles of boxes, it takes quite a long time, so somtimes a box will fall over you and you cant move. It's so unfair cause getting a high pile is hard and when you get it, theres a big reward (2500 ponits! i think) but theres a chance that you will die unfairly. Also controls are fucking weird ahahahha why not make it just the arrows, or maybe spacebar or enter xD
Other than thta the game is very fun
I'm supposed to criticize but I can't think of anything.
Great work, and good use of the theme ! this is a great and fast paced game, i loved the way you mixed some tetris like and some arcade :D The aestetics and gamefeel are top notch, this is really well polished ! Misic sounds good, design is super clear and dynamic. I was fine with the controls, but i'm not really good at it, scored around 10 000 before I quit :) Cheers !
Perfect! An amazing blend of difficulty and innovation with superb sound and visuals, I struggled to stop playing it, well done! :grinning:
Really fantastic little game! Lovely graphics and so well polished.
As far as I played, this is my favourite. Nice work!
It's very nearly a dope, near-shippable vlambeer-type arcade game but just the early game needs balancing, need some stakes at the beginning. Maybe there should be one layer of crates already down at the beginning so the player is already in a state of trying to clean up, and it therefore escalates quicker - right now it seems too feasible for quite a while to just play perfectly and experience no difficulty. I would like if the climbing/walljumping mechanic was more slidey and fluid too.
But for a jam, great effort, good use of theme, very good "jamsize" game, nice graphics, style, little tweening effects etc.
