LD28 — You Only Get One

Escape from planet YOGOAAT by neekobus 2013-12-16T07:51:00

Interesting concept, wish there had been a bit more content! A bit of odd physics behaviour when carrying that small piece at the bottom of the cave. Overall nice entry though.

Wheelie by Clavus 2013-12-16T08:09:00

Quite a fun, addicting game. I liked how the boxes were 'soft', giving some relief from taking damage. I do wish there was a high score though, it'd be nice to compare against past runs. I think my highest was 17 000. Great work.

That's My Baby by CrownCity 2013-12-16T07:15:00

Fun little game for sure. Nice art style and points for taking the time for music. I just wish there was some resolution, haha.

UniSwarm by ChaseC 2013-12-16T08:38:00

An intriguing concept. Has a bit of a learning curve, and I still don't think I fully understand it, but after failing a few times, it begins to make sense. I agree with the above that the selection could be more clear. I do like this game play style though, and winning was rewarding. Nice job.

Fire, Don't Forget by Blupsy 2013-12-16T05:49:00

It was funny discovering in the later levels that the beams rested on the people's heads!

Nice physics puzzler. Good work.

FFirst Impression by chiguireitor 2013-12-16T07:45:00

Haha, 'stache, afro, condom, baguette, swimwear. Looking pretty fly. Too bad the lady didn't think as much.

Funny, innovative game.

The One Familiar by ErikU 2013-12-18T07:23:00

Ah, thanks for coming back and commenting! This is a pretty creative way of beating the levels. On 6, you're not too far off what I intended - with proper timing it's possible to do a double jump by pulling the ball underneath you, giving you the height to top the platform.

On level 7, the bridge is formed by knocking the key out of the zone it starts in. However, there's still another barrier impeding after that, which has at least a couple work arounds.

Anyway, thanks for playing my game as much as you did. Cheers!

You Only Get Juan by doitle 2013-12-16T08:18:00

Hah, it looked so promising. That's too bad it couldn't continue, it seemed like it had a good style and humour.

Code Tower by madmaw 2013-12-16T07:05:00

High learning curve and hard to get the hang of, but once you do it's actually quite a fun game. Finished the second category with a score over 8000. Innovative concept

Spring Crate by torcado 2013-12-16T06:35:00

Interesting game! Well executed, especially taking the time for the music.

It is a game of patience though. Made it past the 3 doors level and stopped. While I know it's part of the theme, I can't help but feel this game would be much more fun with manual aiming.

Overall it was challenging and a neat experience.

Ultimate Wish by Carduus 2013-12-18T08:22:00

Very impressive. I'd like to add that it was fun discovering the "double" teleport - shooting long enough that the cooldown comes up, then immediately firing again despite falling afterwards allows for a trick shot that can speed up certain areas. Fun mechanic.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Space Diggers by 7elephants 2014-05-20T00:21:00

Very impressive to get a server-backed game in so little time. The mechanic was a little simple, but the accomplishment of tying it all together in this amount of time is well worth applause. Congratulations to you all.

The Sun And Moon by managore 2014-05-19T22:11:00

Definitely a challenging game, but well composed with a surprising number of levels given the time frame.

Bornard by TomBoogaart 2014-05-19T22:27:00

Incredible atmosphere for such a short game. Very enjoyable.

Dig Hard by petey123567 2014-05-19T23:08:00

Excellent game. Lots of replayability. Well done graphics and effects. All around a solid entry.

Pearl Diver by samooJAM 2014-05-20T00:54:00

A relaxing game. My one issue would be that the swimming is a bit too slow, and that the optimal speed is done through clicking very quickly which can get tiring. The radar was an interesting implementation once I learned how to use it.

The Sea Has No Claim by dukope 2014-05-19T23:57:00

Excellent entry. Really fun mechanic when you've gotten the hang of it. I found GPS + line search to be particularly effective. Art style complements the whole package. Well done.

Switcher by ehtd 2014-05-20T00:43:00

I like the concept. The strategy seemed optimal to me when running top to bottom as the girl, and then punching the center to get some breathing room as the monster. In any case, well done, especially with the art.

Wormhunter by Thorig 2014-05-20T00:25:00

Very nice visuals that set a great tone. Simple but fun.

Wunderheilung by kbm 2014-05-19T22:16:00

Very nice entry. My only wish is that it could have been a few patients longer! Well done.

DrawL by hoqjed 2014-05-19T23:29:00

Very nice graphics, it seems we went with something similar, haha. It was fairly frustrating to lose the orbs if the scrolling was too fast, despite the scrolling being already slow. In any case, the exploration was fun. I'm not sure if there was an ending with the statues?

Beneath The Ice by Danman9914 2014-05-19T21:43:00

Very nice little game with a twist. Nice work playing with the idea.

Unearth by Ben Whittaker 2014-05-19T22:37:00

Good core concept. Now it just needs the game play. As it stands it's a nice tech demo though.

Tron LD29 by morcosan 2014-05-19T23:14:00

Not a bad implementation of a classic idea, though for future entries I would suggest straying further into unique material.

The Thing Beneath the Surface by Mman 2014-05-20T00:37:00

I'm liking the atmosphere to the game. While the play mechanics are quite simple, it's nice to traverse the world.

Sound Jumper by Jeff0029 2014-04-28T03:11:00

Nice work. The difficulty on the last level is a bit high, but it's a very innovative concept and the cavern art is quite good looking.

ARMY OF THE UNDEAD (army of the undead) by Atridas 2014-05-19T22:34:00

This game definitely gets points for humor. Fun concept with a neat ending.

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Duck Attack by ehtd 2015-04-20T03:09:00

A nice little game. It was fun roaming the map and getting more and more ducks. Those robots took a while to go down though, haha. Best to group them and spam bread while running away. Nice application of the theme, well done.

The AFK47 by crockid5 2015-04-20T02:44:00

Haha fun little game. Pretty unforgiving too! A few mistakes and it's right back to the beginning. I like your interpretation of the theme, and landing the fedora on the head was a nice touch. Lots of polish and content here, well done.

Graze by Merigrim 2015-04-20T05:11:00

Slick title! Agree with the others, it is quite hard and a checkpoint system would be nice. But otherwise it's a really nice little shooter. The roll really comes in handy.

Compassion by masterboth 2015-04-20T03:49:00

A neat little game. The art does look very similar. Interesting take on the theme.

Saber Disk by Neonlare 2015-04-20T04:38:00

Crazy impressive. Very polished for the time given. Can't say I did very well - with so many enemies on the screen, it was a massacre. But everything else made up for it. Very slick, well done.

Doctor Dropper by internetpaulicy 2015-04-20T05:29:00

Really nice art style you've got there. At first I thought the strategy was to spam pianos, but then I realized they were destroying each other, so a nice, metered piano pace was in order. Well done.

Arbiterium by mpath 2015-04-20T05:04:00

I waited between 5 - 10 with no change. I'd like to read the source but at over 400mb it's a little big. Interesting concept, but I'd like to see it fleshed out a but more. Condolences for your loss.

Risk of Color by mtanton 2015-04-20T03:42:00

Interesting little game. I think it would benefit from a little bit more feedback when switching colours, as I found myself frequently looking to the top left and away from the action. But well done, it's certainly challenging.

Unconventional Time by OccamsRazor 2015-04-20T03:04:00

Wow, this game is really nice. Great application of the theme, very nice usage of the mechanic in surprising ways. I especially like the solution to the arrows - the first time I thought it was to bubble yourself with slow to repel, but they snuck through anyhow. Then speed on yourself - great idea. Well done!

Inconvenience Store by BunkeyInteractive 2015-04-20T02:51:00

Nice work! I'm digging the number of assets available. I wasn't able to get a single guard though, they're tough! Nice music, nice take on the theme. Well done.

Bomb bringer by SMASH BASH 2015-04-20T04:48:00

Quite relaxing for delivering a bomb. I sadly misread your warning, thinking the WebGL build was working. I'm curious to know how it ends. I liked the way that you had to be very predictive to avoid the obstacles, since the turn rate was so slow. Well done.

How to Train Your Human by sally_anne 2015-04-20T03:25:00

Interesting take on the theme. It was nice to see that each of the paths was meaningful. Can't say I was able to beat it though. Regardless, well done.

SHAMPOO PLEASE by napedia 2015-04-20T05:17:00

Hmm. Any other way out other than failure? Nice job on the graphics though. Nailed the look.

Garage Noise Attack! by Uruca Games 2015-04-20T04:07:00

Nicely done. A nice pairing of graphics and art in this one. I'd agree with another of the commenters that the strategy tends towards mashing the instruments and hoping to catch the right shield. Well done!

NO TIME TO EXPLAIN: GET IN THE LLAMA by Nidar 2015-04-20T04:53:00

Nice job with variety. The humour definitely made this one. Particles really did a number on my graphics card though, haha. Well done.

B000MERANG by TheBigShot 2015-04-20T03:19:00

Oh wow. Tough game. Took a good number of tries to finally win. Score of 68. Liking the music and graphics, and gameplay was addictive. Well done!

Kill'Nex by Pawige 2015-04-20T03:59:00

Wow, some impressive tech going on here. Well done with the construction system in such limited time. Took a minute to get the hang of it, but afterwards it was quite fun. I would have liked the ability to retry without losing everything, and of course more options. But really nicely done.

The Rod Of God by RandyOrenstein 2015-04-20T03:33:00

Hmm. That was something. Good job, I think.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Modified Ballistics by Jeff0029 2016-04-18T04:11:00

A fun little puzzle game. Players beware, it's hard to get to the end. But by the end of the last level, you'll feel like you understand the mechanics well. Worth the effort! Well done.

LD36 — Ancient Technology

Bow Em' Down by bufferstudios 2016-08-31T16:58:00

Fun little game. It was interesting that you both had to compensate for gravity and the arrow being off centre. Don't forget that figuring out multiple spaces causes the character to fly! Haha, fun to play around with.

Joey's Adventures by mato26 2016-09-01T01:40:00

It's clear you put a lot of effort in to this. Well done. I was able to get all of the treasures but couldn't find the last switch for the last door!

Guidance by Avalanche Games 2016-09-01T01:00:00

I'm reminded stylistically, whether intentional or not, of the mobile game Stacks: http://m.plonga.com/public/uploads/thumbs/stack-game-mobile.jpg

Regardless, nice implementation of a classic idea. Glad you were able to submit after having trouble coming up with an idea.

Windmill Will by LindenHoltWhittaker 2016-08-31T17:23:00

Nice humour, fun physics puzzler. Wasn't able to make it passed the third level. I'm guessing you need to land on the block as it falls, but I couldn't manage it. Well done regardless.

Temple Guy by wr4th88 2016-08-31T17:05:00

Nice job. Even handling the collision with the rocks from the alternate world. Good implementation of an established idea.

SkeleMeat! by FisherG 2016-09-01T01:13:00

I have to say, opening the game gave quite the shock - the spawning sound is quite loud!

Otherwise a fun little shooter. I was trying to decide the best strategy between continuous jumping and spawn camping the left side. Neither were terribly effective! High score of 8.

RAM by Evilperson77 2016-08-31T17:09:00

Fun trying to adapt to the various enemy types. It seems the club enemies were never to be underestimated. All it takes is one mis-timed lunge.

Blocky Hill by SweatyChair 2016-09-01T00:52:00

I clicked until my arm got sore to see how many levels there are. They must be randomly generated!

Highly impressed at the level of polish here. Hats off. My one complaint is the difficulty curve, which is very understandable for the time constraints. Left for about 10 minutes with sweet setup and came back with 19 000 gold!

Asteroid Wars by leondryaso 2016-09-01T04:23:00

Level 15! The best strategy seems to be to sit in the middle and turn towards whatever approaches fastest. And the highest level special attack is just ruination.

Agreed with the above that the shader is a crowning achievement. Well done!

Endeavour by ErikU 2016-08-31T15:04:00

Hi there. Thanks for the offer. I've made it available at http://www.indiexpo.net/en/games/endeavour

Would you be able to comment here when the video is released?

Endeavour by ErikU 2016-09-01T14:36:00

@Zulman: The answer is quite unintuitive! There are a few hints if you try and whip it, go east, sleep, and look. If those stump you, try "hint"!

@squirrelbot: Unfortunately it is entirely linear. But at least you can get revenge by playing the game through once more, swapping places again :P

The First Wheel by wooltech 2016-09-01T03:28:00

The parachute you say? ;) I guess someone will come along and get all the credit 100 years down the line.

Fun game! Nice squeeze in at the end of the jam.

CAVEMAN by Swampie 2016-09-01T01:06:00

I had a laugh when the deer climbed the wall. And the sense of progression was nice.

If this is really your first complete game, congratulations! You should be proud. Like you say, on-wards and upwards :)

BronzePunk by tintreas 2016-09-01T02:45:00

Really nice entry. Digging the art and sound. This was definitely the entry I spent the most time with, decoding it. Having said that, I think there may be some mistakes in the hermit's speech, unless it was intentional. Spoilers following!

According to my notes, her speech says AR RIGHT HS RB BLUS POT. Which I think was meant to say FAR RIGHT HERB PLUS POT. So there's a missing F, the S should be an E (missing a dot), and the B (1 long below) should have been a P (a dash).

Two other notes - was there any use for the tinder? And I and E were ambiguous. They had a dot above and below on the rock, but her speech gave no indication that could tell these apart.

Overall a fun game to tease apart though!

BronzePunk by tintreas 2016-09-01T02:48:00

Ah, I see now that it could also be BLUE not PLUS, in which case again the E is missing a dot, making it an S.

The Forgotten Pyramid 2: Rememberance by dotGame 2016-09-01T03:40:00

Nice! That's a good amount of art fit into 3 days. Simple but enjoyable puzzles - and even a Mario world 1-2 style skip to get past the second door :P

Congrats team!

Before You Die by muit 2016-09-01T00:03:00

Wasn't able to get past level 3! Very unforgiving. But a nice take on a classic game style.

Ember by HardlyDifficult 2016-09-01T02:59:00

Interesting day / night cycle. Nice shader effect for snow / mist / dew. Well done for a swarm game.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Mage : Arena by mactinite 2017-12-10T05:43:41Z

Haha great minds think alike! We both did arenas with fire mages as the main character, and on top of that, we both had fireball and flamethrower as our two attacks. Kudos to you my Ludum Dare brother. I'm digging the Doom aesthetic.

SCRAMBLED by aurel 2017-12-28T19:02:20Z

Agreed with the sentiment others have mentioned. Very ambitious for a Jam game. There's a lot to like about this. The scope of the level, the fact that there are two characters, the amount of artwork, and even the hidden menu that comes up with the tab button.

If I had to critique, I would ask for more lighting, as the level is quite dark even out in the open. I also didn't realize the health was up in the top right until I had almost died, and by then it was too late to grab any hearts.

Well done team. With some refinement you've definitely got a real game on your hands.

A Walk To The Finish Line by jk5000 2017-12-10T08:47:51Z

Nice, simple puzzler. I'm impressed by how many levels your were able to put in with the time you had. Congrats!

you are the coin master by Sean S. LeBlanc 2017-12-04T06:47:35Z

Nice, glad to see a PICO-8 entry in here. Got to 115 before it became pretty much impossible to see where I was going. Interesting use of the concept.

Holiday Parking Panic! by FormalCloud 2017-12-04T03:56:43Z

Rainbow Booster is a winner. Top score of 6! Nicely done, this is a well polished package.

J-C's poopy evolution by Julien R 2017-12-10T05:22:21Z

I'm a fan of the world you guys have created, with each face having a different theme. Nice!

Puzzle Progress Prototype by saucygames 2017-12-04T05:39:02Z

Good start to a puzzle mechanic. One thing that should be noted is that there is "gravity". Took me a second to realize that. I thought I was playing "top down", but rather it's from the "side".

Also a bit stressful with those blue blocks eating up the grey. Wasn't sure their interaction with the gold blocks. Looks like they can't eat them, but that the red blocks can blow up the gold.

Nice entry!

Elf Fortress by jormybb 2017-12-04T05:15:08Z

As a fan of Dwarf Fortress, glad to see you were able to whip up something in the same spirit in short order. Well done.

Burn Bunny (in space) by ZeAntwan 2017-12-10T07:43:47Z

Very much digging the art and sound. Looks like a bit of tuning was needed though - hard to survive for long when the ship is depleting faster than you can travel back and forth! Overall very well done.

Just Fishing by ruthiepee 2017-12-10T05:52:16Z

Definitely a cute little game. Largest I caught was the squid. Had to download the source and check the assets to see if I was missing any other big catches. The gull silhouettes had me on edge though - they looked like they were going for my stash, haha. What's the connection to the theme on this one?

Collector by octanewt 2017-12-10T04:50:22Z

Nice first entry. See you next time!

The More You Snow by Evan Polekoff 2017-12-04T03:50:28Z

I'm liking the procedural effects on the snowball, between the addition when rolling and the subtraction when hitting a mine. Nicely done.

Cardhoard by HacksawUnit 2017-12-10T07:55:39Z

There's a lesson to be learned from this entry - keep scope small and polish! You've done a great job, and I'll need to keep this more in mind for my next entry. Well done.

Kids, Don't Do Wild Magic by ErikU 2017-12-10T05:02:01Z

@sean-s-lebanc Appreciate the detailed feedback. Agreed, a lot of it is unintentional, and the scope should have been reduced to make more time for gameplay improvements. Definite lessons for next time.

The more gold is lying around, the harder it is to move! by danvil 2017-12-04T05:55:24Z

Reminds me of cellular automata like the Game of Life. Neat little game. Couldn't get them to clone though, maybe they were too busy making all that gold?

Super Goop! by Be3n2 2017-12-28T18:46:54Z

I like the art and the down-tempo music. What could be improved is the level design - a number of the jumps were just a little too finicky and needed to be timed just right. I do also like your application of the theme and the way it manifests on the sprite work. Nicely done.

Disaster Strikes by sean.beyer 2017-12-10T08:38:14Z

Of all the games I've played, this one I played the longest. My city was enormous by the end! Had fun growing it larger and larger. Too bad you can't zoom out, would have been impressive to see more of it at once. Also, don't forget to rate other people to expose your game more!

Sunken by Tay 2017-12-04T06:25:42Z

Agreeing with those above me, the art is nice. Other than the double tap which has already been mentioned, I'm a fan.

Extreme Whiski Slalom by bigbazwa 2017-12-10T05:00:06Z

Nice homage. Funny how the level ends right before the yeti grabs you and you can let him drag you off into the abyss.

BOOTY LOOTER! by MrLeePerry 2017-12-04T05:29:59Z

Agreed with the comment on the graphics. Nice modelling and texturing work.

Livin' Rich by DragonSlayer03 2017-12-04T05:20:10Z

Hey, just a heads up, you're going to need to upload the data folder (Livn'Rich_Data) and the player DLL, UnityPlayer.dll, along with the executable. Best practice is to zip it all together. Good luck!

A Spark of Light by TurbulentWinds 2017-12-10T09:00:21Z

Going supernova once, adding white to the whole screen, was fun if ultimately fatal. Tough to strike that right balance between being sub 1 to grow the screen while also maintaining enough light to avoid surprises. Fun game.

Iglu by JMarques 2017-12-10T09:31:37Z

A fun game to be sure - just a bit too punishing! I must have done the 2nd level 40+ times before beating it. And this was with version 0.2. But other than that, it's a great effort.

Snake Force by JeffChen 2017-12-10T09:58:16Z

This entry impresses on all dimensions. Amazing you were able to cook it up in 24 hours. Hats off to you. While I've found that many entries make the core game mechanic more boring when leveraging the theme, such as slowing down the main character, yours certainly becomes only more interesting. Love having a cathartic mow-down of my team mates in the slow motion ending too.

Swift Thief by kantora 2017-12-04T06:27:45Z

I don't think Windows users will have any luck running your game, sadly!

Party Maker by Sempiternal 2017-12-04T03:36:52Z

Wow, really liking the vibe on this one. The graphics are top notch, nice job on those dance animations. With the down tempo beat and a strong adherence to the theme, this is a winner! Congrats on your first Ludum Dare - this is a great showing.

Widget Satchel by Noble Robot 2017-12-10T05:33:38Z

Nicely done team. Really solid work on with the art, and overall a high level of polish for the 72 hours you had. Cheers!

LOCOPLAYA by goxua 2017-12-10T05:27:09Z

Nice job on the character model.

High Protein Diet Dungeon by Lex 2017-12-10T05:14:59Z

Really liking this one. Had a lot of fun playing it. Died to the ring of them that spawned after picking up the key a number of times. After a while I felt it was best to stay lean, but it did certainly carry some risk to it. Well done!

MAMMONITE LD40 by bigmetre 2017-12-04T05:44:20Z

I'm liking the graphics you put into this. Definitely a good style going on. And nothing wrong with smashing the gold out of some goblins too ;)

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Sheep Friend Sacrifice by mnickels 2018-12-03T04:20:14Z

As a fellow jammer who built a game starring polygonal sheep, hats off to great minds thinking alike, haha. The one piece I would change to greatly improve the game would be to increase the friction of past sheep as it's all too easy to attempt to jump on them, only to send them flying. I do really like the concept though and I think if it were appropriately developed, it could have some potential.

Toga Throwdown by andrewjoy 2018-12-06T03:33:49Z

As someone who also went with the Greek god theme, nice to see great minds think alike! I particularly enjoyed the voxelized destruction. The far island seemed a bit far - it seemed like you needed to be high on both Apollo and Hermes to make the jump. Would be interesting to explore this concept of balance a bit further. Also, is it just me or does it seem like your score is always one point short of pleasing Zeus, haha.

Noroi by Drauthius 2018-12-06T03:47:55Z

Very impressed by the level of character animation going on here. When I died and the music stopped with a fully played out collapse animation -- nice! Also digging the simplicity of the game. I did find that the optimal strategy involved abusing the terrain, specifically the large rock in the center top right. They would be attempting to run around it while you could swing at them. Also, getting lucky and having the option for a Legendary makes all the difference. By the final round every stroke was enough to defeat each enemy. Overall a tight little package and I was glad to stumble on this one. Nice work.

King's Wrath by svntax 2018-12-05T04:00:40Z

Couldn't quite find the balance that would keep me alive for the invaders. Like the concept though!

Goat Life by redream 2018-12-06T04:07:15Z

I agree with the above comment that it's difficult to fully understand what I need to do. Having said that, I did appreciate how the game revealed itself over the first couple minutes. I ended up getting an item that I wasn't sure how to use, so I looked at the source code and I guess it's a goat skull. Not sure if it has any bearing on the game. Also seemed like I ended up fighting the same hooded figure in the dungeon that gave me the spells on the surface. Was the intent to defeat him? I wasn't sure what the end goal was. Also not sure what to do with my seeds as the planting doesn't seem to have too much effect. In any case, impressed with the scope here. Nice job.

Decree by ErikU 2018-12-07T04:53:07Z

@jimbly Thanks for the feedback. Sadly, both were elements I had considered. In Ludum Dares past sound has always been right at the end and in this case it didn't quite make the cut, to my regret. And my playtests made clear the problems with the raycasting but there were more critical issues that would have made the game unplayable that consumed the final hours. Thanks for playing through 3 times though, glad it was worth your time.

Omnibar by DubThink 2018-12-05T04:12:03Z

Interesting use of ray marching. Had a very Doom-like feel to it where the optimal strategy was timed strafing and getting in close. Impressed at the small binary size! Just so you're aware, Windows Defender isn't a fan of it, haha.

Warlock Quest by Serious07 2018-12-03T04:31:17Z

Nice little platformer. I appreciated how crisp the jump controls are, as it made precise jumping possible. Also digging the bass music and dialogue sound effects. Good job.

The Sacrificial Adventurer by Lexyvil 2018-12-06T04:25:53Z

Cute little game. I would caution in general against mechanics that worsen the game experience. While I understand that it was in keeping in the theme for Ludum Dare 43, I did find that it pushed outside of the fun / challenging realm and into the frustrating. At first I gave up vision because I figured the other abilities were critical to the game. But I found I couldn't get a sense of the levels and I was effectively blind. So the next time around I gave up shield and push, but after 25+ rounds, the boulders kept getting me and I could never quite nail the third level. Perhaps a slower ramp in difficulty or a bit less punishing of a sacrifice. Then again, maybe it's just on me. In any case, nice job getting this all packaged up in 48 hours!

Alien Escape by carlpilot 2018-12-03T04:57:20Z

Ahhhh! I had the boat fully constructed and then I pressed E instead of Q which... ate the boat?! Haha. Oh well. Fun game, though difficult to play correctly. Need to constantly be hoarding coconuts to avoid dehydration. You also need to use every single edible sprout for planks or else you won't have enough. Wasn't aware of this on my first playthrough - maybe they should grow back? Lastly, increasing the ergonomics around adding items to the crafting, as right now there's a lot of mouse travel. Overall though it's nicely done and reasonably ambitious!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Crab It Alive! by Naca 2020-05-12T19:41:04Z

Nice cute game. Complete package. I'd recommend some visible display of the mouse, both for the opening menu and during game, at least as an indicator of how it moves the crab. Took a second to adjust to the invisible mouse being the source of rotation. Otherwise nice job.

Welcome Home by Iak 2020-05-12T19:31:45Z

Bit of a rough start with the difficulty. Figuring out that the square was a switch that activated a bridge. I think a bit more range on the movement ability would have also gone a long way. Loved the voice acting though.

Saving Emperor's Chick by Calcitherin 2020-05-12T19:55:21Z

Nice job on the art. For the next jam I'd encourage a bit more depth to the mechanics. Doesn't have to be a more complex control scheme mind you! Good luck.

Night of the Killer Beetles by ErikU 2020-05-12T19:53:09Z

@barret @sujoybyte Apologies! It wasn't made public and is now!

Untitled Sport Game by fancypants 2020-05-12T19:51:30Z

Really digging the simplicity of it! I got totally handled by the AI, haha. Would need to practice a fair bit more to get the hang of the momentum mechanics. Crisp execution overall, well done.

Nuclear Family by Zigg 2020-05-12T20:12:20Z

Nice sprite work. A little tough to understand what the various parts of the machine were doing. Loved the natural sound effects and slap humour though. Good job!

SaveThePresident by Ankush 2020-05-12T20:00:27Z

Nice little game. I found the control scheme a bit unintuitive when facing any direction but upwards, especially strafing. But good job creating a complete package and nice use of lighting to forecast enemy locations.

Untitled Mouse Game by Binney 2020-05-12T19:48:13Z

What a neat concept. Great use of audio for the core mechanic, appropriate graphics, and even using Godot! Nice effort.

The Protective Samurai by Eulalia Porto Figueroba 2020-05-12T19:34:29Z

Ah! Tough wrapping your head around the dual control scheme. Helped to just always keep the two together. Nice complete package here though.

Life of a Battery by EOShadows 2020-05-12T20:06:11Z

Cute graphics. I'm a fan of the colour scheme. My only advice would be to make the double jump mechanic more apparent. Took a second to realize that was how to get around.

Carpe Diem by Jojo The Clown 2020-05-12T19:27:57Z

Controls were a bit sliding. I'd definitely recommend a proper end state for your next game. Good luck!

Monster Apocalypse by Abiral 2020-05-12T19:43:40Z

Congrats on completing your first jam game. It's simple but a complete package, so you should be happy about that. Keep it up!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Dank Dungeon by jondalnas 2020-10-05T01:05:34Z

Hard! Haha. I wasn't able to make it past the first floor after quite a few attempts. Maybe it's not a genre I've had much practice with, but those mobs are unforgiving!

Neat little dungeon crawler you've made. Nice variety of enemies.

Loop Industries by Simone 2020-10-05T01:18:35Z

I'm impressed with the number of 3D assets you were able to crank out in the time allotted. Nice job. And the art style is cohesive and pleasing to look at. The game play was simple and short, but it's better than overstaying its welcome. Good stuff.

Temporium by Untitled Studios 2020-10-05T00:11:53Z

Wow, I'm surprised you were able to fit as many levels as you did into this! Nicely done. I caught the secret voice line too if you beat level 1 too quickly, haha. A bit puzzled on how the last level was beat... kinda brute-forced it! But a nice, complete exploration of this concept.

Save Her by Lestat 2020-10-05T00:57:45Z

Made it to the end! Took a few tries to memorize the locations. Just so you're aware, it seems like each loop there's more cars, making crossing the road trickier after a few. Also, I built up enough loops that it seems my FPS was dropping severely, and it ultimately crashed. Beat it the next time opening with a clean start. Nice graphical effects with the crosshatched shadows.

Circleline by caeonosphere 2020-10-05T10:07:59Z

Wow, you weren't kidding that last level really is a doozy. 44 crashes and 443 clicks to win, haha. Nice, minimal aesthetic and you really pushed the concept far. It was fun looking for a stable state and then seeing what the best way to surgically alter it just for the red train car. Good job.

Looped by Barney25052 2020-10-05T01:50:28Z

Managed to beat it, but it wasn't easy! I'm amazed you were able to get so many puzzles in for the 48 hours, nicely done. The art is understated and cohesive. Just wondering - is there no sound or am I missing something? If not, you may want to disable the category. Well done overall.

Tank Fall by PetTurtle 2020-10-05T01:11:52Z

That's a tidy package you've put together. Crisp graphics and sound, and 6 levels with 3 difficulties. I'm impressed! The steering was a little tough, and shooting was scary as each shot would reduce the level. Medium was hard enough, but for fun I switched to hard and got whooped, haha. Nice job.

Loopfield by MikoziQ 2020-10-05T00:21:49Z

Nice! I found the fleet with a score of 39 490. Neat concept, and an interesting take on "loop", haha. I think it would been more challenging had the meteors spawned at the top and bottom as well. In my play-through I kept the opening up top and rotated to let in health or shields when they came by. Overall a fun little game that could be expanded on.

Tunnels by CosmicPickle 2020-10-05T00:31:29Z

Hey, I had a couple issues with your game that I think you should know about:

- I tried the Windows version and on the second and later screens the camera would vibrate back and forth every frame, making it almost unplayable. - Switching to web, I picked up the key, but pressing E didn't seem to place it so I wasn't able to advance.

It's too bad because I really liked the look of it from the bit I saw. One other note: I'd recommend not re-centering the camera automatically as the horizontal motion is a bit jarring.

Mechaskull Chronicles: Astr-O Edition by SwippyDippyDoo 2020-10-05T01:34:03Z

Lovely package. The art style is a nice throwback to the old rail racers of yesteryear. The controls are tight as well, which is usually the bane of games like this. Didn't have a second player, so I played both at the same time and I think I have a headache now, haha. Really good job for 48 hours.

Strange Planet by tengusheath 2020-10-05T00:36:22Z

Neat little take on a classic game type. The tricky part was that they spawn from the edges, so making use of them is a gamble. Wish it had a bit more depth, but can't be too picky with 48 hours! Made it to Day 19. Nice job getting it over the finish line.

LD49 — Unstable

NAMU by ekun 2021-10-04T00:19:38Z

Cute little game! The bounce on impact between the trunk segments makes it pretty difficult. Maybe I just suck but after a number of attempts, I only got to 12 segments, haha. Really digging the music. Congrats!

Bitrunner by TimeLoad 2021-10-04T02:40:35Z

Agreed with the above that it's too bad the score always shows zero, so it's hard to know how long you've lived, but I was somewhere around 2 minutes on my longest run. Simple but effective start to an endless runner game. Keep developing your skills!

Unstable49 - Balance by runrajrun 2021-10-04T01:56:12Z

Cute! 251. Not bad for such a quick turnaround time.

Unstable by DevParty 2021-10-04T02:18:39Z

545m using a two column on either edge stack so that any falling pieces fell towards the middle. Fun little game, and thank you for playing mine. Looks like tower stacking is pretty common take on the theme, haha.

~☆~ Nekolibrium ~☆~ by Chris Dirkis 2021-10-04T02:34:29Z

Nice aesthetic and interesting concept! I'll be honest, I didn't quite understand how the values mapped to changes in the population. It seemed success was close if the lines got jagged, indication interaction between the species, but it never lead to an intuition of what to tweak to get success. Ended up getting all levels except for 4 with a little trial and error, and then 4 after realizing I could use the scroll wheel to rapidly try values, haha. Nice job executing on your idea!

Stable Inc. by CorbenG 2021-10-04T00:07:04Z

Just beat it! Shocked at the level of polish going on here, nicely done. Eventually I realized that it never really seemed to explode, so I turned down the alarm and turned up your acoustic! If I had two minor pieces of critique, it would be these:

I'd have liked a bit more overlap between elements. At least during my play through, it seemed once an element was set it was unlikely to be changed again.

And second, just some clarification in the manual that a blinking light is considered "on", as I read that to mean "solidly on".

Overall great little entry. Congrats!

The ScrapYard by DaniDK 2021-10-04T02:53:00Z

Not sure what my record was, since I couldn't see it after the game ended, but I at least saw the plane in the backdrop! Agreed with the commenter above me that ~500Mb is a bit large for a Jam game. Is it possible this is an unoptimized or debug build? Or maybe all Unreal games are this size. Anyway, enjoyed the sound design on this one. Good job you three.

Babel by cauldron 2021-10-04T16:54:52Z

Looks like we both had the idea of the Tower of Babel, haha! Nice! Agreed with the above comment that the monochrome, simple graphics work well. Congrats on finishing your game!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Emperor Penguin by OlivierYC 2022-10-02T23:57:55Z

Great art for the penguins, and a neat mashup with Roman themes. Simple but effective gameplay. One note is that the text line-breaks can get a little wonky at times. Otherwise great job team.

LD53 — Delivery

The Courier of Cobblecove by SleepyStudios 2023-05-20T00:18:45Z

Looks like we had the same idea of a love triangle that never resolves, haha. I think I beat it with 8 deliveries. Great art, nicely done.

Verses & Vibes by Madbarron 2023-05-19T23:22:56Z

Interesting take on the theme delivery. It requires a lot of the performer to deliver the nuance, and some of the deliveries were questionable. Overall, good job.

LD55 — Summoning

Jiang Shifu by Sn4pi 2024-05-03T01:30:24Z

This game oozes style, nicely done. Very well executed for so little time - excellent delivery on intricate level design. Your group knows what they're doing! Unfortunately I hit the same out-of-bounds bug that others did - wish there was a reset button just for this purpose. But overall massive props to you all. Had a lot of fun.

Don't forget to post your source!

Loyalty by Erik Tate 2024-05-03T00:35:29Z

Lovely art, bopping music, and fun choice on the Banjo-Kazooie-like dialogue (though maybe a bit repetitive from the random, albeit funny, one liners). In general I liked it quite a bit, but I think the gameplay could have used some tuning. The arrows were a bit too frequent so as to be annoying. The boxes were too prone to soft locking you out of the level, forcing a full reset which is a bit too harsh. Would have loved to finish but couldn't "summon" the patience after a few resets. Overall well done team.

Bloody Builder by indegame 2024-05-02T23:37:09Z

First of all, music is great! Made for good listening while playing. I found the pacing to be a bit slow - it takes a while to build up minions, and if you overestimate yourself (going against the bull) it's a pretty tough full reset building up again. I found myself wishing the UX for assembling a minion was a bit quicker - either sorted by type, stacking items of the same type (e.g. all skull heads) with a count label in the corner, or an auto-complete button, just because quickly trying to get the parts in became tiresome. I found I was constantly opening and closing the inventory to eat or assemble, so a more condensed, permanent view of it might be better. Also, I accidentally ate the bull chest after about 15 minutes of playing and gave up there, haha. The variety of artwork on the creatures was great. They had some pathing issues in the forest. Overall a commendable entry for 72 hours, nicely done all!

Tonidachi by JSMCAG 2024-05-03T00:03:48Z

As others have noted, the progression is much too slow. Sleeping is nearly a minute in real time - too long to stay engaged. With a bit more balancing, this could have been a winner. Nice work on the artwork!

Woodland Rituals by Kilian BAPTENDIER 2024-05-03T00:50:52Z

Good attempt but a bit too opaque - doesn't seem to be too much direction. I assembled every variety of object I could into the circle, but it didn't seem to do much. I got one purple plant and summoned a red and green slime, which were annoying to corral into the blades. There was good effort put into the level design, but everything was a bit too spread out, especially with only one summoning circle. Meant that there was much back and forth walking. Additionally, the items seem to have too light mass, meaning small interactions between them send them flying. Overall a good use of your assets and an interesting attempt. Well done team.

🐛Centibleed & The Necropods🩸 by MEGA Marlon 2024-05-02T23:16:03Z

Fun little game - almost similar to an "idler". The only real interaction choices are the order in which you make the upgrades. After losing a protracted first game where (as others have said) the camera shake got a bit extreme (and the FPS started dropping), I realized the trick was to suppress them with early investments in "guns", which snowball early and ended in a win after about a minute. This concept would be interesting to extend with another layer of tactical depth. Well done.

Master Of The Pit by ecenizo 2024-05-03T01:08:34Z

One of the more fun games I've played so far! Ended up playing it twice, to see if there was any variation in strategy. I wanted to keep playing actually, hehe. Wishing the timer didn't run out, and there were more enemies. Overall a fun game taking me back to Warcraft 3 custom maps. Congrats!

Don't forget to post your source!

Harvest Havoc by mortusnegati 2024-05-02T23:52:44Z

Ended up winning through a combination of spamming birds until capped and then broccoli until out of mana - seemed to do the trick on all levels. Looks like pumpkin, tomato, and lettuce were all options, but I didn't experiment with them much seeing as you could win without them. As others have noted - a bit more time spent play testing to tweak the balance and add more discoverability would have really levelled this up. Otherwise it was very charming. Well done all.

Trash Panda Mafia by GriMw0lf 2024-05-03T00:13:03Z

Definitely had my 4080 sweating as time went on. Maybe it's the grass? Anyway, nice graphics as you'd expect from an Unreal entry. Gameplay was a bit simplistic - seemed the enemy raccoons could really beat me up, despite my mashing F. Had to retreat and let my posse take care of them. All around a nice entry, well done team.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Blast Me To The Finish by loyance 2018-04-24T04:24:00Z

Nice game you've got here. A decent mashup of genres. The racing component seems to be more to yourself, but I could definitely see thing being multiplayer. If I had two suggestions, it would be to make the turning radius sharper and make it so that hitting a wall causes you to glide along it rather than kill all of your momentum. Had a bit of fun with the cheat codes as well. Congrats.

The Magical Caster Card Gun by Fanttum 2018-04-23T03:57:42Z

Oof. That last level's rough. After getting near to the end 3 times I had to call it quits. Nicely done. Only wishing there was a bit more substance to the card portion of the game, but the FPS portion carries well.

FEED by drprettypatty 2018-04-23T04:15:05Z

Nice graphics and neat little game. Tough to keep the bats fed - was trying to feed them chickens until I read carefully that it was the _lair_. After that I finally managed to get Mr. Biscuits fully fed. Well done.

Dance Ceasar Dance by sinemual 2018-04-24T02:48:13Z

Took me a bit to figure out that I should click on the red circles to move when they pop up - at first I figured it was WASD. Nice music and the head-bob is a nice tough. Definitely potential here.

Checkmate by aevek 2018-04-25T02:49:37Z

Ahh! I was really enjoying myself and then died on the king. Not sure how you're supposed to win that one with such a short attack range. Big difference coming down from the queen. However I must say this is easily the most _fun_ game I've played so far this year, so hats off to you for that and congrats on the very unique concept.

Gouf & Goblins by ErikU 2018-04-24T02:20:18Z

@drprettypatty Thanks for the heads up. I've re-uploaded. Google had mistakenly identified it as containing a virus and removed it.

GUNSLNGR5000 by webthingee 2018-04-24T01:55:25Z

Agreed with the above, I think there's a lot of potential here. Rather than on the side, maybe if they had been at the bottom it'd be easier to keep an eye on both the screen and the deck? The game is definitely a bit difficult. My first play through I lost too many cards at the beginning due to damage. It rewards careful play, trying to get the kills safely at range. Also I only learned accidentally that the dash does damage, and in fact might be the best ability of them all! Haha. Well done team. Good branding on your game page.

Skies and Cubes by RAFFE 2018-04-23T03:29:08Z

Congrats on finishing your first Ludum Dare. Good idea mixing the 2D and 3D. I did find the light radius on the torch in the 3D section a bit small.

Hope to see you next time!

Ratty's Stew: An Immersive Cooking Simulation by joekickass 2018-04-24T01:44:13Z

Good stuff. I'm impressed at how many 3d assets you guys were able to fit in, but I guess that's what happens when you have 3 artists on the team, haha! Good job keeping consistency in your style. My one criticism would be that the cooking side of the equation seems quite weak compared to the platforming - makes it seem more like a themed platformer than a mix of the two genres. In any case, congrats to the team.

Misty Night by sleepyGrin 2018-04-24T03:07:46Z

Ahh. The Beret Ghost is too difficult! Wish there was some lenience with missing a beat - the difficulty ramps up on that screen quite steeply and I was hoping to get past it and see what other assets you had created. Have you uploaded the source anywhere? Great job on the art.

Eyes on the Prize by phearbot 2018-04-26T03:15:44Z

Had to go digging for my Xbox controller to get this to work, but I'm glad I did. One of the more fun games I've played this time around. Agree with the others though - the crafting was the weakest area where I wasn't sure what I'd get and it took me multiple tries before I had a clue what I was doing. I wanted to always have the triple rockets, but I'd spam the buttons that I thought might do it and often it didn't end up how I'd expect. Very hard to keep track of resources while also running in circles and shooting, and I never did get a sense for when I had enough to get what I want. Also switching to the secondary menu was almost a no-go with the increased complexity that added. I think there's definitely a solid core here that could be worked around if that crafting part was improved. Overall well done team!

Friends of Rose by Ripter 2018-04-24T01:30:40Z

Hey there. Your Windows builds don't currently work. You need to zip it with the *_Data folder as well as the UnityPlayer.dll. Hopefully you can re-upload and update the link so that others can play!

Puzzled and Dating a Monster by John Darrington 2018-04-23T03:40:36Z

Cute little game. Well done. Neat to see something done with Vue.js.

Recipe for Disaster by dragonslumber 2018-04-24T02:57:57Z

Agreed with the above - I think a little bit more handling could go a long way. But definitely a nice job overall with a good amount of 3D model detail. Congrats.

StrateJump by bluewingtitan 2018-04-24T04:45:04Z

@ludum1118 Agreed. I wasn't able to get past the 2nd level because 3 times my browser tab crashed. I echo the sentiment of the others here though, congrats on your Ludum Dare entry and keep at it. This is a good start.

BIRKANOID by MateCziner 2018-04-24T03:19:28Z

Really nice job sticking to the core of the theme - too many games stick to one genre with a "theme" from another genre, but this one really blends them well. Like others have said, I think spamming becomes the best option because of the extra balls it generates. Do that for about 30 seconds and then play out the level, haha. Overall really nicely done and makes me want to use the TIC-80 for a project!

DinoGrow by Conroy 2018-04-25T02:32:20Z

Agree with the above posters: kudos on your ambition. It's always interesting to learn where your limits are in 48 hours. Definitely a bit rough around the edges, and due to networking issues I explored the island on my own. But keep it up and next time, keeping your current ambition, I think you guys could get a much more polished result.

Trivia Monsters by r0bc4ry 2018-04-23T03:19:01Z

Went through it and had an enjoyable time. It felt like the answers were equally difficult, regardless of the button picked. Also getting crit on my first hit was a rough way to start, haha! Nicely done.

Reverse by MrJake7X 2018-04-26T02:35:07Z

As others have said, I do think the art direction is your strongest asset. Also as other have said, I think the link to the theme is a bit tenuous. There looks like there's a fair amount of potential with the gameplay, though it needs to be explored with longer, more complex levels and puzzles. Hopefully you guys choose to pursue this beyond this jam - I think you have a cute and potentially quite fun winner on your hands.

Stealth and Seed by Tony Redmer 2018-04-24T02:42:04Z

Looks like there's a zip now that played fine for me. Nice job on the graphics - this seems to be were a lot of your time went. I'm not sure if the seed planting part ever changed anything gameplay-wise. Planted a number of flowers, watched them bloom, and didn't notice a difference. Overall a pretty game to look at.

Raucous Raccard by noumenus 2018-04-24T04:33:17Z

Difficult! I couldn't make it quite past half way. It's hard to estimate where the moves will take you, and sometimes you really just need to stay put and burn tickets until you get what you need. But definitely a nice concept. Well done.
